Knaus Sport Traveller

Hi, We have yet to purchase a motorhome and are currently looking around at the different makes/models. We would like a coachbuilt , 6 berth fixed rear double bed with a garage and have got our list down to 3; Burstner Levanto A 640 G Knaus Sport Traveller 700DG Dethleffs Advantage A 6971 DB Does anyone own a Sport Traveller or have any advice? Regards, Claire & Matt

No knowledge of the Sport Traveller but we bought a Sun TI from Lowdhams, Huddersfield last year and have been more than happy with it so far. The base vehicle is a Renault Master which I think is also on the Sport and it is a great drive as you will no doubt have read in various reviews. This is our 1st MH so we have nothing to compare it with but the Knaus build quality seems VG and apart from a couple of minor issues which the dealer quickly sorted it has been great. Brian

knaus for sale Hi, i have put my motorhome on the website since having been very recently widowed,, it is a Sun ti as new, please look at it if thats what you are looking for, it may not have enough berths for you though, true mileage of 8,200km! No pets very much cared for, lots of extras olav

olav I am sorry to hear of your loss

We have the Sport Traveller 605DKG (6 berth but bunks at the back) and we love it. You would not be disappointed with the quality of the fittings and the thought that has been put into the design. Lots of sensible storage, room to get around even though there are 5 of us - we're very pleased

camper renault master knaus sport traveller 600

Hello Claire & Matt We had an 02 Knaus 708g Traveller, very well built vans. Up there with all the top German built mh's.

Hi I have just picked up our Sport Traveller 700DG from Joeressens in Germany and can only echo (with all the enthusiasm of the first flushes of van worship) the quality, thoughtful design, great drive and attention to detail of it. It is our first motorhome and for us the layout is perfect (we have three kids - 5, 3 and 1). I would thoroughly recommend both the model and dealer.

mrcanny - trust you will enjoy the Knaus for a long time

mrcanny so glad you like your new Knaus - we have had our Knaus SunLiner 658LG for 11 weeks - bought from Lowdhams Nottingham. Full marks to Knaus and Lowdhams ( Especially Chris Gage, Mick and Paul in the service centre for all their help!) It has rained for 10 of the last 11 weeks and the van has been superb - no leaks and the layout makes it easy for 2 people to live in it at close quarters! The build quality is superb! We've done about 2,000 miles so far and it's great to drive. Hopefully we'll meet you on our travels - the only Knaus we've seen so far was a Swiss registered one in The New Forest. Marie and Rex

Thanks Marie & Rex. My feelings echo yours. We have just come back from Spain (we had planned to be gone for good but my wife had to return for a hospital check up so we all came back) and the van was superb throughout the whole trip. The kids had a ball and loved being in the van whether travelling or not. I'm delighted with the purchase and will now take the opportunity to read through all the manuals and find out the stuff I didn't get chance to before we left. The build quality is superb but we did have one problem whilst in Northern Spain. The Heki rooflight started leaking water. Luckily we were very close to a Knaus dealer who took the whole thing off to find the factory had not fitted sealant on a small part of the outer, leaving a gap through which water could enter. The dealer was fantastic, took everything apart, resealed it and said they would sort it out with Knaus in Germany. They were originally going to charge me and ask me to claim it back from the German dealer I bought from but with a bit of Spanish and some praise for the Basque country, I managed to get away without having to pay. Overall, a fabulous trip and the pre-purchase research was all worth it as our van is the ideal layout for us and three little 'uns. A big thanks to everyone on MHF as I wouldn't have had nearly enough info to make an informed choice without you.

Knaus Sport Traveller 600 – Alkoven Womo Für Einsteiger?

Technische Daten – Knaus Sport Traveller 600

Technische Daten:

  • Länge: 6,53 m
  • Breite: 2,3 m
  • Höhe: 3,15 m
  • Radstand 3,45 m
  • zulässiges Gesamtgewicht 3.500 Kg
  • Schlafplätze für 4 Personen
  • Alkovenbett 160 x 210 cm mit Lattenrost
  • Heckbett 137 x 210 cm mit Lattenrost
  • Alternativ zwei Etagenbetten
  • Motor: Fiat 2,3 L Multijet
  • Leistung: 96 KW/131 PS
  • Schaltgetriebe alternativ Automatikgetriebe
  • geräumige Garage im Heckteil
  • Truma Heizung

Towbar for Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller 1994-2006

Towbars for Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller Bj. 1994-2006 motorhomes

Welcome to X-CAMPING , your specialist in retrofitting towbars for motorhomes. In this category you will find towbars, electrical kits and even frame extensions for the Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller Bj. 1994-2006 motorhomes, whether it’s a coachbuilt or C-Class with overcab bed.

Fixed and detachable towbars

Our range includes various trailer hitches and electrics for the Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller Bj. 1994-2006 motorhome. Due to the specific design of these motorhomes as C-class with or without overcab bed and a long overhang with a deep rear garage, the towbars for the Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller Bj. 1994-2006 should be adjustable . We offer a wide range of height, width and length adjustable towbars with fixed and detachable towballs .

  • With lateral swanneck towballs.
  • With front flange towballs attached with two or four bolts.
  • Vertically detachable systems with anti-theft device.
  • Horizontally removable towballs with anti-theft device.
  • Detachable towballs with lever system (without anti-theft device).

The detachable towball systems with anti-theft protection are produced by renowned manufacturers such as ACS Towbar Systems , a member of the Brink Group, a leading supplier of towbars in Europe. All our products come from renowned European manufacturers, are TÜV-tested and approved for road use.

Fiat Ducato with load-bearing frame

Before fitting a towbar to your Fiat Ducato it is important to check that the chassis is sufficiently extended and strong. On some cars with the Knaus Sport Traveller body, the chassis of the base car is extended and prepared for the installation of a towbar. This is known as a load-bearing frame.

Read our blog to find out how to check if a frame extension is load-bearing. For vehicles that already have a load-bearing frame extension, the cost of fitting a towbar is lower as no additional extension is required.

Fiat Ducato without a load-bearing frame

If your Fiat Ducato does not have a load-bearing frame extension, you must first fit a chassis extension in order to be able to fit a towbar later. The frame extension is the base for the towbar and rear garage. It consists of frame adapters, extension profiles and reinforcement kits. The frame adapters are fitted to the original Fiat Ducato chassis and the extension profiles are screwed onto the adapters .

Our frame adapters are designed in the same way for all Fiat Ducato models so that the existing mounting points on the vehicle frame can be used and no modifications to the original frame are required. The frame extension profiles are adapted to the length of the overhang or rear garage.

X-CAMPING offers frame extensions in different lengths from 75 cm to 200 cm. You can find out which length you need for your vehicle and how to determine this in our blog .

Our frame extension for the Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller Bj. 1994-2006 can be used universally and is compatible with various trailer hitches from other manufacturers (SMV-Metall, Linnepe, AL-KO, SAWIKO, XIMPLIO). Please note that a frame extension can also be adjusted in height and width. For an example of the adjustment possibilities of a frame extension from XIMPLIO, click here.

Electric kits for towbars

In addition to towbars, we also offer suitable electrics for your motorhome . Our vehicle-specific and universal cable sets are available in 7-pin and 13-pin versions. The vehicle-specific electrics are specially designed for the Fiat Ducato Knaus Sport Traveller Bj. 1994-2006 motorhome . Please note that due to the overall length of motorhomes, extra-long cable sets of up to 9 metres in length are often required.

Knaus Sun Ti 600LF 2006

2006 Knaus Sun Ti 600LF - profile

Published: August 24, 2011

Find out more about the Knaus Sun Ti 600LF in the Practical Motorhome review

The Sun Ti 600LF oozes style and pitches itself just right: it’s big enough to be liveable and small enough to be driveable, while all its bells and whistles serve a purpose. It will provide immense pride of ownership.

Good standard equipment; looks; versatile under-bed storage; stylish, comfy lounge

Blind spot when overtaking; lounge table; basic kitchen

When it was launched at the Düsseldorf caravan show, then appeared at the Earls Court show in 2004, the Sun Ti was credited as having taken motorhome design a big step forward.

Nearly two seasons later, it still looks fresh, though it’s not been without its imitators. Bavarian manufacturer Knaus has continued to turn heads with its yet more radical C Liner – the Renault Master-based, A-class ‘van. But over time we’ve found that despite its stunning looks, form does indeed follow function here.

The Aguti swivel cab seats, which are comfortable when driving, make great on-site lounge chairs, swivelling into place with minimum fuss thanks to the relatively wide Renault Master cab. The TV mounting, though a little cumbersome until you get used to it, is the best we’ve seen. It swivels 360 degrees and so enables viewing from the cab seats or the L-shaped lounge. It stores swiftly and securely for a quick getaway in the morning. Our only issue was with the fixed table. It’s a practical piece of design but we felt it limited potential for socialising in the lounge. The table slides back and forth so it can be moved out of the way to allow movement through the ‘van, but if you wanted to have four friends around for drinks they would have to sit behind the table. Visitors would enjoy much more room if the table were removable and could be stowed away. The Knaus caters well for couples using the vehicle throughout the day, who want an easy-to-use dining area.

What you see is what you get: a small basic kitchen with rather limited oven and no grill. Although there is no specific worksurface, we found the small space which arises from the curvature of the stylish Cramer sink and hob units just big enough to rest a pan on when cooking. Also, the slim integral drainer is just about big enough to cope with your crockery and pans when washing up dishes for two. We found the oven door a little fiddly and were surprised to see no ignition button on the hob – although a minor oversight, it can be frustrating.

The Sun Ti features a fairly typical washroom layout for its floorplan, and it’s one that works. There is a separate shower space and a usable toilet, and although there’s not a huge amount of room, it’s as much as you will find in layouts of this type. Our only criticisms were the fiddly shower door, which might simply require adjusting, and the sink which was difficult to wash your face in due to the position of the overhead cupboard.

The corner bed has a comfy mattress, and a curtain to act as a partition. The designers have not put a window in behind the bed so there is room to sit up and read, although the presence of storage pockets across the head of the bed might make it a bit awkward. We found the dinette bed puzzling, because the cushions didn’t quite fit together and there was no explanation in the manual of how they might. It’s unlikely that many owners will use this bed, but it’s fine for one person for a night or two. Cab blinds make getting ready for bed quick and easy, though the basic caravan windows and pull-down blinds don’t quite match the Knaus’ upper mid-market feel.

The versatility of its under-bed space marks the Knaus out ahead of the fixed-bed low-profile pack, as does its unique and ingenious TV storage system and battery locker. Overhead lockers abound: there are three over the lounge and five by the bed. The Sun Ti falls short of full marks on two counts. First, though the kitchen has a good-sized cutlery drawer, its fridge is small for the price and only one of its lockers is tall enough to hold a big box of cereal. Second, an eye-level cupboard with clear plastic doors between the bed and the lounge seems completely misplaced. Its catches are too flimsy to store anything while on the road, so perhaps it’s intended as a drinks cabinet.

What to do in Moscow in winter? Our TOP 6 of things to do during Moscow winter!

Here is our TOP 6 of things to do during Moscow winter:

  • Go to the Red Square Christmas market

Ice skating on the largest ice rink in Europe at VDNKh

Enjoy the snow-capped moscow parks, live the experience of a russian banya, stroll the most beautiful streets of moscow in winter, discover the fairy tale world of izmailovo, go to the red square christmas market, the number 1 thing to do in moscow in winter.

It’s magic! Moscow’s Red Square in December, January and February turns into a fairy tale: small stands for mulled wine, tea or sweets. The festive atmosphere reigns there throughout the winter. There is also an ice rink installed on November 30, just opposite the luxury store GUM. In summary, if there should be only one thing to do in Moscow in winter, that would be the Red Square Christmas market.

  • Where? Red Square , free entry to the Christmas market. If you are going to stay only 2 or 3 days in Moscow, choose an accommodation not too far from Kremlin. Find further tips about hotels in Moscow here: Where to stay in Moscow?
  • When? From December 1 to the end of February

Blog Christmas and New Year in Moscow

Indeed, the rink is 20,000m²! If you are going to Moscow in December, January or February, ice skating is an activity to discover. Music and lights to accompany your skate ride: great atmosphere! However, VDNKh is not in the historical Moscow center.

  • Where? Exhibition center, VDNKh. You will need to take a public transport (metro or bus) or taxi to go there. This blog post could be helpful: Transport in Moscow: how does it work?
  • When? From November 30 to February 28, closed on Monday
  • Opening hours: 11 am-3pm and 5 pm-11pm weekdays; 10 am-3pm and 5 pm-11pm on weekends and holidays. Technical break to smooth the ice from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Prices: from 300 RUB to 600 RUB for a 1 hour session (more expensive on weekdays and weekends), discounts for children under 12 + 150 RUB for skate rental

What to do in Moscow in winter? Enjoy the parks whose entry is completely free! Indeed, the parks of Moscow are great spaces of relaxation and entertainment very appreciated by the Muscovites. However, you must know the most interesting of the city center: these are the new Zariadié park and the Gorky park.

Pay attention to the temperatures! Long walks can be quickly difficult to hold, if you are not well equipped. Especially if temperatures drop to -10 and above. Further informations about how to dress for Moscow winter below.

The snow-covered Zariadye Park and its platform suspended in the air offer a beautiful view of the Kremlin and the Moskva River. The park area is open 24 hours a day and free. In addition, for 180 RUB you can visit an artistic installation: the ice cave (hours 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.).

The Gorky park is very large, it runs along the Moskva to the Mont des Moineaux. Besides, Gorky Park is a park to visit in summer and winter. If you go to Moscow in December, January or February, inside the park you will find small stands where you can buy hot drinks to warm up, cafes to rest and a museum of modern art Garage, and then an ice rink! Impressive too, but smaller than that of VDNKh. However, there are a lot of people on weekends. Map of the park .

How to dress for Moscow winter

Warm wine and tea are not enough to warm you up? Now is the time to try the Russian bania! It’s clearly an experience to do in Moscow in winter. Moscow winter would not be so cold for you! Finishing a day of walking in the snowy city with a traditional bania, there is nothing better.

What is the bania? In summary, the Russian bania is a hot steam bath. It’s an ancient tradition that dates back to the time of Peter the Great. Bania enthusiast, he then zero-rated the construction of the banias. They then multiplied everywhere in Russia. In the countryside, the bania is a small wooden house. In town, the place is apparently different from the outside, but the principle remains the same. The steam warms our bodies, the pores are cleaned, we wash … then we pat ourselves with the venik, a broom of dry birch branches! It wakes up, for sure!

Salduny baths is an institution. With over 200 years of history, they are the largest and most popular baths in Moscow. However, there are Women and Men sections. To be able to stay together, you must then reserve a private banya.

  • Where? Neglinnaya Ulitsa 14, Kuznetsky most metro
  • Opening hours: Daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Closed on Tuesdays.
  • Prices: 1800 RUB for 3 hours of bania – basic part, 2200 RUB – more “premium” part

In what to do in Moscow in winter, I cannot not mention the walk in the streets of Moscow. Indeed, the streets of the city center are very nicely decorated. In addition to the famous places to visit, such as Saint Basil’s Cathedral or Red Square, there are nice neighborhoods to see to enjoy the winter and better understand Moscow.

Neighborhoods to visit. The districts of Patriarchy Prudy and Tchistye Prudy are to be discovered, because there are already more locals there. In addition, in each of these districts, there is a pond and cafes and restaurants around.

Streets to see. Nikolskaya, Bolchaya Dmitrovka, Pereoulok Stoleshnikov, Pereoulok Kamergersky and Kuznetchny Most streets are also worth a walk.

camper renault master knaus sport traveller 600

The Izmaylovo Kremlin is certainly a tourist spot, but it is well worth seeing during a winter weekend . It looks like Disneyland! First, you enter a colorful fortress surrounded by frozen water, walk the decorated streets, then discover the market stalls filled with fur, chapka, Russian scarves.

  • Where? 10 min of walk from Partizanskaya station
  • Opening hours: Daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Free admission

Things to do Moscow blog

How to dress for Moscow winter?

To know how to dress for Moscow winter and Russian winter in general, you can use my Russian grandmother’s golden rule (who lived on Novaya Zemlya Island in Russia). You have to cover the strategic places to be warm. That is, clothes and shoes in winter in Russia must protect the extremities of the body as much as possible, then the throat and buttocks. It is quite the same in Canada I guess.

Three important things for how to dress for Moscow winter:

  • Undershirts are very important. They shouldn’t be wide, they should stick to your skin.
  • Hooded coats
  • High shoes with a thick and gripping sole

What to enjoy Moscow winter: in summary

As we have seen, Moscow is therefore transformed during the winter into a magical place: decorations, snow, evening lights, ice rink … Indeed, everything is there for New Year’s Day, the most important holiday in Russia. So let’s take advantage of this winter and its magic to the fullest: Red Square Christmas market, skating rink, walk in the snowy parks!

If you are leaving during the holiday season, this blog post will certainly be useful for you: Christmas and New Year in Moscow .

Finally, here is a wonderful video of Moscow snow-covered in February! 🙂
