MGM Rewards (M Life) Tiers Explained + MGM Mlife Status Match (2022 UPDATED)

January 16, 2022 48 Comments

M life Tiers

Bougie Miles may receive commissions from certain affiliates. BougieMiles.com has partnered with CardRatings for our coverage of credit card products. BougieMiles.com and CardRatings may receive a commission from card issuers.

In This Post

M life Tiers

Now that the MGM Rewards Program is offering an Mlife status match to both Mlife Gold & Platinum Tier levels, we thought it would be helpful to detail the benefits and differences for each M life Tier. MGM’s casino loyalty program has four elite status levels and each level has different benefits ranging from free parking to retail discounts to slot multipliers, free cruises and room upgrades at M life hotels. There are also several partner benefits that I’ll summarize in another post.

UPDATED: 2/5/2022 The MGM Rewards changes are now live- which I’ve included below and covered extensively in the Bougie Miles MGM Rewards Guide.

MGM Rewards

Here’s a link to a video covering Casino Status Matches and a few of the tricks I use that I didn’t think I should put in writing (AKA the good stuff.) Also please give me a thumbs up and be sure to subscribe with every email you’ve ever had.

How do you earn Mlife tier credits fast?

The main ways to earn tier credits for Mlife are through gambling, spending at MGM Hotels, Casinos and select partners and through spending on the MGM Rewards Credit Card. The FASTEST way to rack up tier credits is to stack earnings by using your Mlife Mastercard to pay for your eligible resort spend. This would net you 7 Tier Credits Per $1 on things like restaurants, spa and my personal favorite: mini bar purchases. To sum that up- You earn Tier Credits at M life Rewards destinations nationwide for every dollar you spend on your hotel stay, dining, entertainment or spa.

At M life Rewards destinations in Las Vegas you earn 4 Tier Credits per $1 spent for non-gaming spend. Tier Credits earned for gaming including slots, VLTs, table games, and BetMGM based on game type, average bet, and length of play. And of course, if you’re unsure, the M life Rewards desk in each casino has a list of tier credits earnings values for each property.

You can also elect to earn 4 Tier Credits per $1 spent on all Hyatt stays in lieu of Hyatt points but World of Hyatt points are very valuable so I don’t recommend that option unless you only need a few more credits to advance to a higher tier. In order to make sure you earn all your Tier Credits and that they are credited to your M life Rewards account, always use your M life Rewards card while playing slots and table games at participating MGM Resorts. When making purchases, you should show your M life Rewards card at the time of each qualifying purchase, or charge these purchases to your room and present your M life Rewards card to the Front Desk at the beginning of your stay..

Does MGM Rewards Status Match?

Mlife matches status now from Caesars Rewards, Planet Hollywood and several other casino rewards programs from casinos all over the country. As noted earlier, the Mlife Rewards Program is offering a limited time Mlife status match to both Mlife Gold & Platinum Tier levels for new and existing members. If you click that link you will get all the info you need and specific details on the value of the offer as well as how to complete the process.

Mlife Tier Status Match to Gold and Platinum

The fastest way to get all the benefits of higher M life Tiers is probably through a tier status match from another competing casino loyalty program. The current offer details of the tier match can be found here from the Mlife website .

Yes, you can match all the way up to M life Platinum status through January 31, 2022, by visiting an M life Rewards desk in person and showing them proof of competitor status with a valid competitor loyalty card with your name printed on it. Even better , you can request an additional Tier Match during the promo if you subsequently become eligible for a higher Tier Match. The M life Rewards Tiers Program Tier Match promo is available to  all new and existing  M life Program members through. The tier level match is available for select loyalty programs and tiers   listed here   by state.

Officially, NOIR is the highest level of M life status (though there have been rumors that there an even higher invite-only status called Chairmans Club Noir).

M life is currently matching Caesars Diamond status to M life Gold and M life Platinum.

The 4 main ways to receive M life Gold Status are by earning 75,000 Tier Credits in a calendar year, matching existing World of Hyatt Explorist Status to Gold, receiving a reciprocal tier match from Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises status and receiving a casino tier match.

Greetings, really good article. I have a question, I am trying to learn what tool or external services MGM uses to power its loyalty program to see if the same tool/technology is used in other businesses (a research project of mine). If you can point me at where I can get that info, please let me know.

If your still out there. I’m just about at Pearl Status. Are you saying that when Jan 1 2022 hits I will be kicked back to Sapphire?

Yes, status resets each year. Is there something specific you love about Pearl status? There are lots of opportunities to get similar status like perks via different avenues.

anyone know how to get Mlife Platinum status without spend?

there seems to be a way talked about in some forums, but I can’t figure it out. Usually, you can only get Gold after matching from caesars. Any ideas? Thanks

July 28, 2021 at 2:55 pm

Yes sir! Just google mlife status match and you’ll see my post come up 4th or 5th- has everything you need. (I can send link when I get home of you can’t find it)

Just wondering; I’m at platinum, but may only make gold for next year. If I’m at gold for 2024 and achieve platinum again -gold-platinum in the same year, will I then be platinum for 2025?

' src=

September 29, 2021 at 12:02 am

We went at the end of 2020 and the tier status was lowered and we got platinum in one night. It reset at the beginning of 2021. In two trips we were platinum again. This includes limo We also were coded for the penthouse lounge. You actually earn more points spending money on stuff. One dollar spent get you 25 points, instead of gambling which take $25 for 1 point. That was something we only learned recently so eat and drink at the property and present your card

' src=

December 1, 2021 at 4:08 pm

Hi Don – I am going to vegas next week and am about 4000 points short of the pearl status – so thanks for the tip! Couple questions though – how much do you think you spent for platinum in one night and do those rates you mention (25 pts per dollar) apply without the credit card?

December 1, 2021 at 6:25 pm

HI Don! Thanks for reading. First, yes- the 25 points per dollar is earned on eligible spend regardless of credit card or payment method (the card only helps you earn 3 more points per dollar – so 28.) As far as earning Platinum- that’s pretty tough to do without substantial play- the good news is that slots earns at a much higher rate than everything else in the casino but I definitely don’t think the benefits of pearl justify spending much. Do you have any credit cards, elite status with hotels, airlines or cruises? We may be able to work it from that angle.

' src=

January 11, 2022 at 6:15 pm

You can only get to platinum status by playing (and spending money) .. . They do sometimes change the amount of play needed to qualify you for each level. I had Sapphire, then Gold, then skipped Pearl and I’ve had platinum for probably a year and a half. I have almost 300,000 points but have not been invited to noir, nor did I qualify for the cruise.

' src=

May 19, 2022 at 10:17 am

There’s really no difference in my experience between gold and platinum, every benefit has an asterisk, I’ve been platinum for about 5 yrs like you with over 300,000 tier points average a year , I can’t even get get my host at Mirage yo respond to a email or txt 😖 it’s all smoke and mirrors, ever benefits you receive will solely be based on your previous play Bottom line

' src=

July 16, 2022 at 11:59 am

Very true, Thomas, I don’t even pay attention to what card level I have. We don’t play for points – we play to win their money.

' src=

August 11, 2021 at 10:25 pm

If you got a Platinum card through reciprocity with Royal Caribbean/Celebrity cruise lines, your card won’t expire.

If it does, just show your Royal Caribbean proof as a Diamond Plus member and they have to give you Platinum again.

It’s one of their best perks.

Sadly Vegas doesn’t really have lounges in the MGM casinos. There are some lounges but the access is for hotel guests.

I thought only your tier credits reset, but you keep your status for the following year.

Do you know if M Life tier matches are still offered for current Royal Caribbean Anchor Society status level (ie Emerald, Diamond.) equals Gold M Life match? If so how do you go about proving this?

' src=

January 12, 2022 at 12:23 pm

We’re in Vegas right now at the Nomad. We are Platinum card holders and Diamond on Royal Caribbean, can we get a comp limo to the airport when we leave tomarrow….can we get a 4pm late check out. Can we upgrade the RC Diamond to Diamond plus with the MLife card

January 13, 2022 at 11:23 am

At some point last year they seemed to have changed that to be dependent on play- at least that’s what the host at Aria told us. As for the RC match, I’m not sure about the Diamond PLus since it’s new- I’d love to know how it ends up for you.

January 19, 2022 at 6:09 pm

You are very informative and also beautiful. I have thanks to your articles now been able to get Gold MGM and look forward to no resort fees after February 2022! I would like to use my buy one get one free myvegas rewards to buy you a drink at least one day to earn tier points!

January 21, 2022 at 11:13 am

Haha thank you!

February 3, 2022 at 1:35 pm

Hi Bougiemiles,

I am currently Gold Tier level with MGM, and my tier credits have reset to 0 for 2022. If I sign up for the MGM Rewards card, do I get 20k tier credits, so it’s easier to reach higher levels or does it not affect me because I am already at a tier higher than Pearl?

February 3, 2022 at 1:42 pm

Follow up question- I have been considering this card for awhile. I have never seen a promotion with extra sign-up points or additional benefits, the way some other card have. Have you ever seen them run a sign-up bonus?

Thanks again.

February 3, 2022 at 6:04 pm

Unfortunately any status that is matched still has to earn the tier credit to reach higher levels- so no, you don’t get 20k TCs. Honestly, one time I got emailed a slightly better offer- I think there was an extra $25 in value associated with is but it was so minuscule I don’t even remember it. LOL. If you can make the card work for you, I definitely wouldn’t hold my breath for a better offer.

' src=

December 11, 2022 at 1:14 am

I’m 7200 pts from staying gold. Would dining or slot play be the quickest way to earn those TC?

' src=

April 7, 2022 at 6:05 pm

You losing your platinum players yet. Not sure 4 tier credits per $1 spent to get 200,000 does not work for me. Been platinum for years but I give up reaching that level anymore.

April 7, 2022 at 6:47 pm

That makes sense- I’m doing the same but still assuming I’ll receive all of my discretionary comps.

' src=

May 17, 2022 at 3:03 pm

I’m still a little confused about Noir level. If 300,000 doesn’t qualify for the upgrade from platinum to Noir, what does? Any sense of what one ha to do to be invited to Noir? Is it the number of times you go to Vegas or how much you spend when you’re there?

May 18, 2022 at 5:49 am

I wish I could give you a concrete answer but the truth is I have seen people be invited who don’t even gamble and then I know people who gamble 200k in a weekend and haven’t been invited.

June 7, 2022 at 6:16 pm

Hi I went to Vegas in Nov 2021 , got the mlife reward card , became a gold membership during that stay . I m going to Vegas next week ( June 2022) but I look at the mlife apps , I m still a gold membership, I though it will reset in Jan 2022 So do I still receive my gold benefit, free parking , food credit etc

' src=

June 27, 2022 at 11:07 am

i am now gold with 50 thousand tier credits how much more to next level

' src=

June 27, 2022 at 7:11 pm

If you want a comparison I’m a Platinum player with 580,000 tier credits earned through June 2022. Over $520,000 coin in slots/video through the first six months of the year and I haven’t been invited to Noir status.

' src=

September 8, 2022 at 2:46 am

im on the edge of becoming platinum, does anyone know how the 600 air credit works?

' src=

November 27, 2022 at 7:52 pm

Well this had been interesting reading!!! I am Gold Stats within 11,500 of Platinum – I am REALLY NOT SEEING why I would go the last stretch from what I have read😞 I would really appreciate some input regarding this – THANKS!!!

' src=

December 29, 2022 at 10:05 am

FWIW, my host told me a couple of years ago that to be invited to Noir, it was at least a 80k loss across MGM properties and also over 2 million tier credits in a year. But with all the crypto money, I’d suspect it’s a lot more than that.

I made Platinum under the new system in 2 trips, and it was actually pretty decent value getting the flight reimbursement, but the best idea is really not to chase the credits. I have a host who takes care of all my rooms/limo/F&B and really it doesn’t matter too much what your status is if you have a host.

' src=

January 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm

Hello and thanks for your help on these programs. I am matching status from my Hyatt Explorist, to be MGM Gold when we’re in Vegas next week (have to change my last name in person seems). Once I do that and get a MGM Gold card, can you please tell me if there’s a benefit to going to any of the other casinos and matching the tier with them if I’m not staying there? Seems like most of the benefits might be only if you’re staying at that particular casino but I’m staying at a Marriott property. Any other benefits worth doing the match?

' src=

January 30, 2023 at 10:13 am

Please explain this to me as this is my second request for an answer. I failed to re-qualify for platinum level last year but had WAY more points needed to qualify, but I have been put all the back to the lowest level. Why did I not at least qualify for the Gold level?

February 7, 2023 at 3:24 pm

If you earned enough points to qualify, you should definitely reach out to MGM. There would be no reason for you not to attain your status.

Much in the same way that MGM Resorts teamed up with Royal Caribbean , they have now inked a deal that gives Celebrity Captain’s Club members elite benefits at Mlife resorts and vice versa. Here are the details:

MIAMI and LAS VEGAS ( June 24, 2015 ) – Celebrity Cruises (NYSE/OSX: RCL) and MGM Resorts International(NYSE: MGM) have come together to give loyalty program members more ways to travel in style. Beginning today, Celebrity’s Captain’s Club and MGM Resorts’ M life members can choose from exclusive premium offers throughout the year. These include complimentary cruises for qualified M life Platinum and NOIR members, and Captain’s Club members can enjoy benefits and special access at MGM Resorts’ destinations including concerts, events, entertainment venues, restaurants and more. “Aligning MGM Resorts with Celebrity Cruises, one of the top cruise lines in the world, ensures more spectacular experiences for our loyal guests not only on land, but also at sea,” said Lance Evans, Vice President of Marketing Partnerships for MGM Resorts International. “This new relationship brings together two world-class brands to further enhance the value of being a member of M life, with special offers, benefits, rewards and exclusive access.” Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises, said, “We are incredibly grateful for our Captain’s Club members’ continued loyalty, and I’m thrilled to thank them by giving them even more special benefits. We are just as excited about introducing M life members to Celebrity’s modern luxury vacations, from the award-winning culinary program and personalized service on our sexy, stylish ships, to in-depth destination experiences on all seven continents.” Exclusive premium perks for M life and Captain’s Club members include: Captain’s Club – Quarterly offers and M life benefits for each tier, including room discounts, pre-sale access to tickets for A-list concerts and championship fights, exclusive seating at shows and events, priority reservations, special hotel check-in areas, VIP services and more. M life – Celebrity cruise offers, elevated onboard benefits and the ability to earn M life Tier Credits for onboard slot play. Qualifying M life members who reach Platinum or NOIR, the highest M life Tiers, receive one complimentary Celebrity cruise annually.

Both companies have setup a page regarding the partnership. You can find Celebrity’s page here and Mlife’s page here . I am assuming most people reading this site are most interested in the MLife to Captain’s Club benefits. This is because many of you have Mlife Gold or Platinum membership from Hyatt.

The good news is that there are quite a few benefits for Mlife elites. Specifically, Mlife Platinum members will receive departure lounge access, priority boarding, welcome amenity, complimentary specialty dinner, 10 complimentary drink vouchers and 30 minutes of internet free.

While Mlife Platinum members do also receive a free cruise every year, that isn’t the case if you have received your status through Hyatt. Here is how they word it:

If I received my Platinum or NOIR tier from a third party or other partnership, do I qualify for the annual complimentary cruise benefit? No. Members who received their Platinum or NOIR tier through a third party relationship or other partnership are not eligible for the annual complimentary cruise benefit.

This is the same way the partnership works with Royal Caribbean so this isn’t a surprise considering Royal Caribbean owns Celebrity. On the glass half full side, this seems to acknowledge that all other benefits listed should apply to people who gained their status through a third party like Hyatt.

While Hyatt Diamonds may not get a free cruise out of this, they should get some other pretty valuable benefits when sailing on Celebrity. This deal is nearly identical to the Royal Caribbean deal and it is nice to see Mlife further expand the value of their loyalty program.

Thanks to Grant for sending this over to me.

I looked at the fine print for Celebrity & Royal Caribbean, and none of the benefits apply to Mlife elites that had their status matched, i.e. Hyatt elites. 🙁 So sad, because I’m now Mlife Platinum from Hyatt Diamond and I’m going on a Royal Caribbean cruise in December. None of those benefits for me since I’m not a “real” Mlife Plat.

From your link: “Captain’s Club members that earned M life tier through our partnership tier match are not eligible to receive on board partnership benefits. Misrepresentation of Captain’s Club and M life tier will void benefits.”

The fact that they use the term “our partnership tier match” which seems to refer to the MLife, Celebrity partnership is a little confusing. The MLife site seems to indicate all benefits will work except for the free cruise, although I wouldn’t be surprised if that doesn’t happen in practice.

MGM Rewards Replaces MGM’s M life Rewards Starting February 1, 2022

MGM Rewards replaces Mlife

MGM Resorts announced today that their new MGM Rewards program will formally launch on February 1, 2022, replacing MGM’s “M life Rewards” program.

I know that you’re thinking you already knew this…. but no, all we knew about was the program name change, an extra month of tier credit earning (Jan 1 -31 counts for both last year and this year) and that non-gaming spend will only earn 4 tier credits per dollar, down from 25.

Now, we have most of the fine details, and many are quite exciting.

For MGM Rewards Gold members (what you get if you are on the Status Match Merry Go Round ), the biggest and most exciting change is waived resort fees , matching what the equivalent Caesars Rewards Diamond level already offers their members. On my trip to Las Vegas for ZorkFest last month, I paid $39 a night in resort fees at Aria, plus tax, for almost $200 in resort fees in 4 nights. I would have certainly welcomed this benefit!

MGM Resorts’ five member tier levels – Sapphire, Pearl, Gold, Platinum and NOIR – remain the same.

New MGM Rewards Tier Benefits

Per the release, MGM Rewards offers members new and exclusive marquee benefits, including waived resort fees (Gold+), Tier Achievement Travel Credit to Las Vegas (Platinum+), complimentary tickets to MGM Rewards concerts (Pearl+), advanced suite upgrades for up to three nights (Platinum+), access to exclusive tier appreciation events and experiences (Gold+) and 4 p.m. late check-out (based on availability; Platinum+). As an added benefit, MGM Rewards Points and Slot Dollars will not expire for Pearl+ members due to account inactivity.

As mentioned, those resort fees for Gold + are huge. It also looks like there will be special events for Gold + (TBD).

But what if you can achieve MGM Rewards Platinum? It looks like you’ll get a travel credit towards a trip to Las Vegas (?!) as well as some sort of “advanced” suite upgrades (perhaps a limited number confirmable in advance? it’s not clear) as well as a 4pm checkout. That last bit would be amazing, though I note it is “based on availability” so it will remain to be seen if that is freely granted or not. (A guaranteed late checkout like Marriott offers Platinum and up would have been better, although those do exclude resorts from the guarantee and all MGM properties are resorts anyway).

There will also be some sort of Celebration Dinner (I can only imagine this is very similar to the $100 Celebration Dinner Caesars Diamond gets) and they also are dropping the number of tier credits needed for Pearl to 20,000. All other tier earning remains the same, despite the massive drop in tier credits earned for non-gaming spend. This certainly says they are leaning back into gambling as a more primary focus as compared to the rooms, dining, and entertainment spend.

Lastly, it looks like members from Pearl and up will get complimentary concert tickets.

Here’s a chart of benefits by tier:

MGM Rewards tier benefits details

1 Offers will vary in terms of frequency, ticket types, number of tickets, location, dates, etc. based on member’s Tier status and spend/gaming activity. Availability of tickets may be limited by capacity or otherwise and are subject to availability. Redemption instructions will be included in offer communication.

2 Applicable daily resort fees will be waived on up to two room reservations per trip when an eligible member books direct, under their name, with MGM Resorts International and his/her eligible MGM Rewards account number is attached to such reservations. To redeem, the eligible member may be required to visit the Front Desk during their stay to confirm eligibility and request waiver of the daily resort fee (e.g., if member advances to eligible Tier level during stay). Not applicable to reservations associated with convention, trade show and/or group sales unless billed to the qualifying member.

3 One (1) Tier Achievement Celebration Dining Experience benefit valid for qualifying member is offered during the current Tier Status Earning Year to each qualifying Gold, qualifying Platinum or qualifying NOIR member who has earned the minimum Tier Credits associated with reaching the applicable Tier Level (and, for NOIR Tier Level, invited to such level during such Tier Status Earning Period) based on spend during such period. Members who receive their Tier Level status through a third-party or other partnership tier match program are not eligible for the benefit. Dining Experience benefit is not awarded based on a member’s Tier Level status as of the beginning of the Tier Status Earning Year. A qualifying member who reaches multiple eligible Tier Levels during a Tier Status Earning Year as described above will receive one such benefit (awarded as a dining credit) for each such level reached. Amount of dining credit for reaching specific Tier Levels is as follows: up to $100 dining credit for reaching Gold, up to $200 dining credit for reaching Platinum, and up to $500 for reaching (and invited to) NOIR. Dining experience must be booked by qualifying member through designated MGM staff (who will apply applicable dining credit to member’s MGM Rewards account). Dining experience must be completed within twelve (12) months after qualifying for the benefit. Valid only at participating MGM-owned dining outlets. The dining credit cannot be used for gratuities, is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. To redeem your dining credit, you must present your MGM Rewards card at time of payment. Offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer. Member will not receive the cash value or be compensated in any manner for any unused dining credit (if any) which will be forfeited if not used during the applicable dining experience. MGM reserves the right to modify the amount of the dining credit offered and/or otherwise modify and/or limit quantity/type of items offered (e.g., alcoholic beverages) all of which may vary based on Tier Level reached and other factors.

4 One (1) air travel credit benefit of up to $600 is offered during the current Tier Status Earning Year to each qualifying Platinum member who has earned the minimum Tier Credits associated with such Tier Level during such Tier Status Earning Year based on spend during such period. One (1) additional air travel credit benefit of up to $600 is offered during the current Tier Status Earning Year to each qualifying NOIR member who is invited to NOIR Tier Level during such Tier Status Earning Year based on spend (including earning the necessary Tier Credits) during such period. Accordingly, a qualifying member who earns the minimum Tier Credits associated with both Platinum and NOIR Tier Levels (and who is invited to NOIR) during such Tier Status Earning Year is eligible to receive two separate air travel credits of up to $600 each, totaling up to $1,200, subject to these term and conditions and the MGM Rewards Rules. Members who receive their Tier status through a third-party or other partnership tier match program are not eligible for the benefit. Air travel credit is not awarded based on a member’s Tier Level status as of the beginning of the Tier Status Earning Year. Air travel must be booked directly by qualifying member and travel must be completed within twelve (12) months after qualifying for the benefit. Travel itinerary must be in the name of such qualifying member. Air travel credit will be reimbursed based solely on the paid ticket price (including upgrades, but excluding luggage/baggage fees, pet fees, etc.) of the qualifying member’s ticket and of his/her guest(s) reflected on proof of purchase if all on the same single travel itinerary and in the name of such qualifying member. Costs, fees and expenses associated with obtaining and/or using airline points, miles, etc. to obtain air transportation are not eligible for reimbursement. Qualifying members will not receive the difference (if any) between the offered maximum air travel credit amount and the actual paid cost of the ticket(s). Qualifying member must provide designated MGM staff with a copy of receipt and other required documentation at least one week prior to scheduled hotel check-in day. Air travel credit will be awarded in the form of MGM Resorts International resort credit (or as otherwise determined in MGM’s sole discretion) that can only be used during the Las Vegas hotel stay associated with such trip. Resort credits are valid at participating MGM Resorts International destinations in Las Vegas only and can be used for hotel accommodations that are booked directly with MGM Resorts International, and select food and beverage, nightlife/entertainment, retail merchandise, and spa services. Resort credits cannot be used for gratuities and gambling. To redeem your resort credits, you must charge the expense to your room at the outlet or other participating location. Resort credit is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. Member will not receive the cash value or be compensated in any manner for any unused MGM Resort credits which will be forfeited if not used on trip as set forth herein. Credits must be used prior to guest’s checking out of hotel. Subject to MGM Rewards Program Rules available at mgmrewards.com/rules.

5 One (1) cruise benefit is offered during the current Tier Status Earning Year to each qualifying Platinum or qualifying NOIR members (valid for such qualifying member plus one (1) guest and subject to availability) who has earned the minimum Tier Credits associated with Platinum Tier Level or who is invited to NOIR Tier Level during such Tier Status Earning Year based on spend during such period. Accordingly, a qualifying member who earns the minimum Tier Credits associated with both Platinum and NOIR Tier Levels (and who is invited to NOIR) during such Tier Status Earning Year is eligible to receive both a Platinum and NOIR cruise benefit. Unless otherwise indicated, cruise must be booked during the applicable Tier Status Benefit Year (2/1 – 1/31) for travel completed within three (3) months after such period. Length of cruise and cruise destination will depend upon member’s earned Tier Level status and recent MGM Resorts spend and gaming play. Members are responsible for transportation to/from cruise embarkation and final disembarkation locations. Certain restrictions, fees and limitations apply. Subject to additional terms and conditions available at mgmresorts.com/royalandcelebritycruises.

Press Release

I gave you the juiciest bits above, but here are a few more details straight from the Press Release:

Additional program highlights include:

  • Non-gaming and gaming members alike will now be able to redeem MGM Rewards Points for a multitude of experiences from hotel stays and food & beverage to entertainment, award-winning spas and more.
  • New Tier Advancement Celebration Dinners and access to exclusive tier appreciation events recognize members who reach Gold or above tiers based on 2022 gaming and non-gaming spend.
  • Extended earning window – To celebrate MGM Rewards’ launch, Tier Credits earned by members from January 1- January 31 will count toward both 2022 and 2023 Tier Status earning.
  • Tier Credit multiplier promotion – As a welcome to MGM Rewards, all members are invited to take advantage of a limited-time 2x multiplier on Tier Credits earned at the Company’s Las Vegas resorts February 1 – April 30, 2022 (at the applicable earning rates). Play and spend are recognized as a single account, making it easy to stay, play and dine wherever and whenever members prefer.

Additional partnerships with premier brands will be unveiled in the coming months.

Overall, while early news about the “devaluation” made the rounds, the news is, in my view, quite positive.

Previously there was almost no reason to shoot for the Platinum tier as it was almost the same as Gold, not even waiving resort fees. Now, even those matched to Gold from Hyatt Explorist will be happy with the waived resort fees, but they’ll also have a reason to gun for Platinum as the new benefits are substantial. I’ll reserve full judgement until I can see all of the fine print, but I’m impressed and intrigued right now.

Keep in mind that I’m writing this from the perspective of matched Gold.  Those earning each year from scratch will no doubt feel a bit less satisfied.

They also have a teaser website with some limited details.

There were a few questions I’d asked MGM but had not heard back as of this article’s press time. I will update if/when I get a bit more info.

Couple of questions: 1. Is the promo on top of the 4x for non-gaming spend, i.e. – you get 8x for non-gaming spend? 2. What about the gaming spend – is it still 25x? 3. How does gaming spend work with the 2x promo – does it make it 50x?

As soon as you reach the required number of points for the next tier level, your status will be advanced and you’ll maintain that status for the rest of that year, the following calendar year, through January of the third calendar year. For example, if you earn Gold status in August 2023, your status would be valid through January 31, 2025.

Royal Caribbean Crown and Anchor Society Members and Celebrity Captain’s Club members can status match to MGM Rewards tier levels by visiting an MGM Rewards desk. Status matches can’t be done online or over the phone.

  • 3 points and 3 tier credits per $1 spent at MGM Resorts properties
  • 2 points and 2 tier credits per $1 spent at supermarkets and gas stations
  • 1 point and 1 tier credit per $1 spent everywhere else

Plus, as a cardmember, you’ll automatically receive an upgrade to Pearl status and priority check-in at MGM Resorts.

So, is this card worth getting? Probably not. Even for high rollers who spend a lot at MGM properties, there are other credit cards out there that will offer even more benefits.

Alternative Credit Card Options to the MGM Rewards Card

You can earn 3x points on all travel (including MGM Resorts) by using the  Chase Sapphire Reserve ® ,  Citi Strata Premier℠ Card , or the Ink Business Preferred ® Credit Card .

If you’re interested in earning points at U.S. supermarkets , check out the American Express ® Gold Card that earns 4x (up to $25,000 per calendar year; 1x thereafter).

If you’d like a card that earns bonus points at gas stations , consider the Marriott Bonvoy Business ® American Express ® Card also earns 4x points at U.S. gas stations.

Bottom Line: For most people, the MGM Rewards card isn’t worth it. There are so many other entertainment and travel rewards credit cards out there that offer more benefits and higher-earning capabilities than this card.

If you’re a regular on the Las Vegas Strip, you might be familiar with MGM Rewards. As a member, you’ll earn points that can be applied to your hotel, dining, and entertainment bills. You’ll also earn tier credits toward elite status.

If you rarely travel to Vegas, don’t worry — MGM Rewards is valid at MGM properties across the U.S. as well as those in China and Japan.

Even if you aren’t a big gambler, you can sign up for MGM Rewards for free to earn perks anytime you try your hand at Lady Luck!

MGM Rewards is the loyalty program for MGM Resorts — the owner and operator of casinos around the world — with several properties in Las Vegas, such as The Mirage, Bellagio and Mandalay Bay. Recently rebranded from M life Rewards, MGM Rewards is based on a straightforward concept: Spend money at the hotels and casinos and they’ll give you points, which you can use for hotel bookings, dining and entertainment.

MGM Rewards members earn two different currencies on eligible spending: Tier Credits and MGM Rewards Points. The former count toward earning higher status tiers (more on that below) and the latter can be redeemed on spending at MGM Rewards properties. Regardless of status tier, members earn 4 Tier Credits and 1 MGM Rewards Point per $1 spent on stays and dining at MGM Rewards properties.

Tier benefits

Tier credits accumulate from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 to generate your status, which begins on Feb. 1 each year. If you boost your status during the year, you will enjoy the new status for at least a full year. The credits currently required for each tier and notable benefits are listed below.

Many of these benefits are new as of the program rebranding, so even if you’re already a status-holding member, read up to learn what perks are now available.

The co-branded Mastercard

MGM Rewards has a credit card. Most of the features are basic, but it’s a good way to keep your points from expiring if you don’t make it to Las Vegas very often. Overall though, this is a mediocre card. Here's what's included:

There’s no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees.

You earn 1 tier credit and 1 base point per $1 spent. Those earnings double at gas stations and supermarkets, and triple at M life destinations.

You receive 10,000 points when you spend $1,000 in the first three months.

Automatic Pearl status.

Priority check-in.

Partner promotions

MGM Rewards has several partnerships, ranging from "meh" to very valuable. Here are a couple of the most interesting ones.

World of Hyatt

The partnership with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts is arguably the most valuable. It includes:

Reciprocal elite benefits and status matching.

The ability to use World of Hyatt points at participating MGM Rewards hotels.

The opportunity to earn the partner’s reward currency for your stay.

This partnership, however, will be ending Sept. 30, 2023, and MGM Rewards members must match their status with Hyatt by July 14, 2023 to enjoy reciprocal benefits. Though the Hyatt partnership may be ending, MGM has announced a forthcoming partnership with Marriott Bonvoy set to launch in 2024. Read can more on that here .

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines is one of the most scheduled airliners serving Las Vegas, so it’s appropriate that they have a partnership with MGM. You can earn 600 Southwest Rapid Rewards points for stays at a qualifying property. But you can only earn Rapid Rewards or MGM Rewards points — no double-dipping.

» Learn more: The ultimate guide on Southwest flights to Vegas

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity

Royal Caribbean International and its sibling brand Celebrity have some valuable perks, particularly at the higher levels. Even Pearl, the first elite level, gets you access to a special lounge for departure, but the benefits climb rapidly from there.

Plus, members with the highest levels of elite status can get a complimentary cruise each year. Qualifying Platinum Members receive one cruise for two per year in an Oceanview Stateroom consisting of a 3, 4, or 5 night Bahamas or Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises.

NOIR Members receive one cruise for two per year in a Balcony Stateroom consisting of a 7-Night Caribbean or Bermuda cruise on Royal Caribbean or 7-Night Caribbean, Europe, Alaska or Bermuda cruise on Celebrity Cruises.

The bottom line

If you’re a frequent traveler to Las Vegas , you’ll want to make sure you compare the MGM Rewards program closely with the Caesars Rewards program . The two make up the vast majority of on-strip properties in Las Vegas and you’ll earn rewards faster and stretch your earning further if you focus spending and play on one rewards program.

Tier Credits determine your elite level in the MGM Rewards program, which in turn determines what perks you are entitled to at MGM Resorts. You receive 4 Tier Credits per $1 spent on stays and dining at MGM Rewards properties.

MGM Reards Noir level is available by invitation only and doesn't have any posted requirements to earn it. It is the highest published tier level of the MGM Rewards program.

To archive MGM RewardsGold status, you need to earn 75,000 Tier Credits. Tier Credits accumulate from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 to determine your status, which begins on Feb. 1 each year.

Your MGM Rewards Tier Credits expire (or reset to zero) each calendar year on Jan. 1. Tier Credits are only used to gauge your elite level status within the program; they aren't used for redemption purposes. Previously, Tier Credits used to expire on Sept. 30, but MGM Rewards has transitioned to a calendar year system.

Most of the co-branded Mastercard’s features are basic, but it’s a good way to keep your points from expiring if you don’t make it to Las Vegas very often. It doesn't have an annual fee and comes with Pearl status. Overall, though, it is a mediocre card if you’re interested in valuable rewards for broader spending.

M Life Rewards structure

mlife platinum cruise

As an M life Rewards member, you can earn points, Express Comps and Tier Credits at MGM Resorts nationwide. You'll earn Tier Credits on most spending with M life Rewards. And, Tier Credits are how you requalify for tier status.

You'll earn Express Comps and points on select gaming activities. And, you'll also earn points from spending on the M life Rewards Mastercard. Express Comps are a cash-like currency that can be redeemed for select expenses, while points can be redeemed for free slot play or exchanged for Express Comps.

If you are new to M life Rewards, it can be confusing to determine how to earn and redeem each type of reward. So, let's take a closer look at points, Express Comps and Tier Credits.

M Life Express Comps

As an M life member, you will earn Express Comps when you play slots and video poker at MGM Resorts. At select MGM Resorts outside of Las Vegas, you'll earn Express Comps on table play based on your average bet and time played.

M life Rewards elites get an Express Comps bonus based on status tier:

  • Pearl members – 10% bonus
  • Gold – 20% bonus
  • Platinum – 30% bonus
  • NOIR – 40% bonus

You can redeem Express Comps for hotel accommodations, dining, entertainment, M life Rewards Moments and more.

You may lose your Express Comps if you don't earn any points or Tier Credits for six months as a Sapphire Member or for 12 months as a Pearl, Gold, Platinum or NOIR Member. So, it's generally best to use your Express Comps soon after you earn them. For example, you may want to apply your Express Comps to pay for your lodging when you check out.

M Life Rewards points

You'll earn M life Rewards points when you play slots or video poker machines at MGM Resorts. You can also earn M life Rewards points by spending on the M life Rewards Mastercard .

M life Rewards elites earn additional bonus points, depending on status tier. Bonus points are similar to

You can redeem M life Rewards points for free slot play at MGM Resorts. To do so, just select POINTPlay from the menu at any slot machine. Or, you can convert M life Rewards points to Express Comps at any M life Rewards desk.

Finally, if you don't earn any points or Tier Credits for six months as a Sapphire Member or 12 months as a Pearl, Gold, Platinum or NOIR Member, you may lose any accumulated points. So, it's generally best to use your points soon after you earn them.

M Life Rewards elite status

The Tier Credits earned in a tier status-earning year define your elite status level. Specifically, there are five elite status tiers:

However, M life Rewards benefits vary by region. So, check the chart on the M life Rewards website to see the benefits for MGM Resorts in each region.

M Life Rewards Tier Credits

mlife platinum cruise

M life Tier Credits determine your status in the program. You'll earn Tier Credits for most of your spending at MGM Resorts. This includes slot play, video poker, table games, hotel accommodations, dining, entertainment and spa services.

At Las Vegas MGM Resorts, you'll earn 25 Tier Credits per dollar spent on non-gaming spending. At regional MGM Resorts excluding Borgata, you earn eight Tier Credits per dollar spent on non-gaming spend. However, the Tier Credit earning-rate for slots and table games varies by region. So, check with the M life Rewards desk at your destination for a complete list.

You can also earn eight Tier Credits per dollar spent with World of Hyatt hotels and resorts . To do so, simply add your M life and Hyatt rewards number to your reservation and opt to earn M life Rewards Tier Credits at check-in.

Generally, your tier status earning year is Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. However, due to the pandemic, the tier status earning year is now from Oct. 1, 2019 through Dec. 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, the M life Rewards tier status benefit year is Feb. 1 through Jan. 31. But, if you reach a higher status tier at any time, you'll enjoy those benefits at least one year.

Finally, due to COVID-19, elite status benefits have been extended through Jan. 31, 2022. So, members who earned NOIR, Platinum, Gold or Pearl status from Oct. 1, 2018 through Dec. 31, 2020 will keep this status until Jan. 31, 2022.

How much are M Life Rewards points worth?

M life Rewards points are worth 1 cent each and can only be redeemed through the M life Rewards program. You can redeem M life Rewards points for free slot play or you can convert M life Rewards points to Express Comps. But, in either case, you'll need to visit an MGM Resort to use your points.

Keep in mind that if you don't earn any points or Tier Credits for six months as a Sapphire Member or 12 months as a Pearl, Gold, Platinum or NOIR Member, they will expire. Luckily, one easy way to earn points and keep your account active is with the M life Rewards Mastercard.

M Life Rewards card

mlife platinum cruise

If you frequently stay at MGM properties or game at their casinos, you may want to consider the M life Rewards Mastercard . This card offers a sign-up bonus of 10,000 points when you spend $1,000 in your first three billing cycles.

Beyond this, you'll earn three points and Tier Credits per dollar spent at M life Rewards destinations when you pay with your card. Plus, you'll earn two points and Tier Credits per dollar spent on gas and supermarket purchases . All other purchases earn one point and Tier Credit per dollar spent.

As a cardholder, you'll automatically be upgraded to M life Rewards Pearl status. You'll retain this status as long as you have the card. You also won't pay any foreign transaction fees when using your card for purchases outside the U.S.

Is the M Life Rewards credit card worth it?

The M life Rewards credit card may be worth it for some consumers. The card has no annual fee , so there's no cost to keeping it in your wallet. But, there are a few aspects to the card that generally make it a sub-par option.

First, the earning rates are low. Specifically, since M life Rewards points are worth one cent each, this means you'll get a return of 3% at M life Rewards destinations, 2% on gas and supermarket purchases and 1% on everything else.

You can get higher earning rates at M life Rewards destinations using one of the best credit cards for travel purchases such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve or American Express® Green Card. You can also get a better return on other purchases using one of the best credit cards for everyday spending , such as the Citi® Double Cash Card.

The information for the Amex Green Card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Second, the rewards earned by the M life Rewards credit card must be used at M life Rewards destinations. In a time where cash is king for many consumers , you may prefer to use a cash back rewards credit card . Interestingly, only those aged 21 and up qualify for this card.

All of that being said, there are two primary reasons you may want to carry and use the M life Rewards credit card. First off, using this card at least once a year can keep your points and Express Comps from expiring . Second, this card allows you to earn Tier Credits via card spending. So, if earning and maintaining a high level of M life Rewards status is important to you, you may benefit from using the M life Rewards credit card.

M Life Rewards and World of Hyatt

mlife platinum cruise

M life Rewards and World of Hyatt have a partnership that can benefit elites in both programs. Specifically, members of each program can earn points when staying with the other program. Elites in each program can status match to gain status in the other program.

M Life perks for World of Hyatt members

World of Hyatt members receive the following benefits from this partnership:

  • Earn 5x World of Hyatt Base Points at participating M life Rewards properties
  • Earn Qualifying Night and Base Point credit toward World of Hyatt elite status when staying at select M life Rewards properties
  • Book select M life Rewards properties through Hyatt, including the option to redeem World of Hyatt points for select stays
  • Matched World of Hyatt status to M life Rewards
  • World of Hyatt member matches to M life Rewards Sapphire
  • Discoverist matches to M life Rewards Pearl
  • Explorist and Globalist match to M life Rewards Gold
  • Earn M life Rewards Tier Credits instead of World of Hyatt Base Points for eligible stays at select Hyatt properties.

If you have a World Of Hyatt Credit Card, you can get automatic Discoverist status and earn additional elite night credits via credit card spending. You could leverage this status to get matched to M life Pearl.

Since M life Rewards has a status benefit year of Feb. 1 through Jan. 31, you'll want to match your World of Hyatt status to M life Rewards in early February each year.

Related: Use the World of Hyatt credit card to earn Globalist elite status

World of Hyatt perks for M Life Rewards members

M life Rewards members receive the following benefits from the partnership with World of Hyatt:

  • Earn 8x M life Rewards Tier Credits at select Hyatt hotels and resorts
  • Earn 5x World of Hyatt points at select M life Rewards destinations in Las Vegas
  • Receive matched World of Hyatt elite status
  • M life Rewards Sapphire matches to World of Hyatt member
  • Pearl matches to World of Hyatt Discoverist
  • Gold, Platinum and NOIR match to World of Hyatt Explorist

So, you'll want to match your M life Rewards tier level to World of Hyatt now if you don't already have higher elite status with World of Hyatt. And, since World of Hyatt has a status benefit year of March 1 through the end of February, you'll want to match your M life Rewards status to World of Hyatt in early March each year.

Should I join M Life Rewards?

mlife platinum cruise

If you are staying with MGM or gaming at an MGM property, you might as well join M life Rewards. After all, even the base M life Rewards Sapphire status tier provides perks such as discounts on hotel rooms. And, you'll earn points, Express Comps and Tier Credits on your spending.

If you have status with World of Hyatt , it can also make sense to join M life Rewards and then status match. But, in some circumstances, you may not want to join M life Rewards quite yet.

For example, if you have premium status with another casino loyalty program , you may want to wait to join. This is because new M life Rewards members can status match to M life Rewards Gold status at the Borgata in Atlantic City if they have status with the following programs:

  • Caesars Entertainment : Diamond, Diamond Plus, Diamond Elite or Seven Stars Card
  • Golden Nugget : Billionaire's Club
  • Resorts : Red Carpet Card
  • Tropicana Atlantic City : Platinum or Black Card
  • Hard Rock Atlantic City : Rock Royalty

To status match, simply visit the M life Rewards Desk at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Related: There's a new method to match your way to top-tier casino status

Bottom line

While M life Rewards is a casino loyalty program , you may still get significant value from it if you don't stay at MGM Resorts or gamble frequently. Through M life Rewards' partnership with World of Hyatt and status matches offered by select MGM properties, you may be able to snag M life Rewards elite status with minimal effort.

However, many aspects of the M life Rewards program vary by location and the earning and redeeming details and rates can be opaque. But, since there's no cost to join and even entry-level status provides some discounts and perks, you may want to join M life Rewards before your next MGM visit.

MLIfe Gold $125 OBC

After reading this thread I decided to give BCC a call last night to ask if my husband and I were eligible for OBC (one of us is MLife gold, the other platinum).  I was waiting for a rep for well over an hour and once speaking with a rep was told no OBC due to booking with BCC and not MLife.

Despite my sharing with her that there are reports of folks being granted OBC recently she stated that they received a memo two days ago forbidding this.  I asked her to send me the memo...the answer was no.  I asked for a supervisor.  Another hold time of close to an hour.  Yup....I gave up.  I shared with her that my concern was that the response from BCC when asked for OBC based on MLife status appears to be inconsistent and this is where the frustration comes in (as well as  ridiculous wait times on hold).

I've booked with BCC many times in the past and have never had such a frustrating experience as last nights' call.  I hope it was a fluke....

If you booked under a discounted or free casino rate, which it sounds like you did, then getting MLife offers is considered double-dipping.  I'm pretty sure that you need to be paying full fare or something like it to qualify.

I'm sure you are correct and that's understandable.

I was frustrated with the wait time on the phone and the rep's account of why I couldn't get the OBC.  She just kept saying that it wasn't available because I didn't book through MLife....and in about four years of being platinum with them I've only gotten one offer for a cruise.  I get BCC offers pretty often.

In any case I'm really looking forward to my cruise and I'm very happy with the final cost.

Happy (and healthy) sailing to all!

Is there a promo code for this?

no. it is a benefit (potentially) of having status at MGM

I almost spit out my coffee, thanks for the laugh as I’m guessing this was a serious question.  Call the BCC and give your MLIfe number (if you have one) as the “promo code”

No, it was legit.  My TA said Celebrity was asking if I had a promo code.  I called the MGM/Celebrity number this AM and was able to add the MLife numbers to the booking.  Just have to keep checking for OBC.

Thanks

Update - advanced to Gold yesterday, called today to add the OBC and got denied.  Supposedly the cruise had to be booked under an "MLife offer," of which I have never even received any info.  Personally I think this recent "memo" has it wrong -the  "cruise fare trade-in value" clause should cover all non-group, non-discount bookings.   The rep was under the impression that it had to be a casino rate booking to qualify.

I also have a few RCCL cruises so maybe I"ll try with them.

That doesn't even make sense. What MLife offers are Golds supposed to get? The free cruises are only for Platinum and NOIR.

I have now booked my third NOIR cruise (on Millennium right now) and the credit was applied each time, however their Casino department (BCC) has some real "beauties" working there and there are at least two people where I immediately hang up when they answer (Ashley being the worst).

For their attitude alone I'm not spending a dime at the casino. And when I called I wasn't "on the list" for NOIR either this year. The current cruise was booked in 2019 and cancelled/rebooked at least 8 times during which it has become a huge mess with lots of cumulative OBC. Everytime I call they make it seem to be MY fault that's its such a disaster now.

Golds are supposed to get what is suggested in the thread title and what is shown here, but only under certain situations

According to this chart any tier should get these "Quarterly Offers" and I can confidently say that in 10 years with MLife I have never received a single one. YMMV.

That's nothing new. I get anything but the quarterly offers. Now they might be play related but still I'm surprised that I never received anything from them. Not even a bad offer.

i can confirm quarterly offers are MLife play related

While this cruise I used the mlife perks, BCC offered the internet at 10% off due to my CC status

Besides $125 OBC, what else would an Mlife Gold status person receive on board a Celebrity or Royal ship?  Is the $125 per person or per cabin?

While we don't gamble much, we will be near a MLife casino this coming week.

If we show our latest cruise room  card and give them our Celebrity Elite # should we expect to have our MLife card upgraded?

Hi!  I posted a few times on this thread.

This is my experience with the MGM $125 OBC if you are gold with MGM (earned through MGM not reciprocal Gold from your Celebrity or RCCL status)... For MGM gold people, you are entitled to $125 OBC for each cruise you take with Celebrity or RCCL.

I booked my Celebrity cruise with a travel agent (or can be direct with Celebrity).   My booking isn't because of a discount or free cruise due to my MGM status.  At the time of booking I gave my MGM # (along with others in my travel party) and told the agent about the MGM Gold OBC.   The agent, multiple times with bookings does nothing about it (claiming she can't get through to anyone).  So, I call the # I have in an above post and add this to the bookings myself.   I have never had a problem.  Once I call the MGM/Celebrity phone #, I then have to call the travel agent and tell her to 'pull it over' to the reservation and at that point the OBC shows in My Celebrity Cruise Planner.   OBC from my travel agent doesn't show until right before the cruise but the MGM OBC shows immediately.

Obviously for Platinum and Noir, the OBC is a higher value.

Hope this helps for those in the same situation as me/clarifies the MGM OBC.  😃

From the experience posted in this thread the practice of allowing this has ended as of recently and there is an internal memo to this regard.

MLife Platinum and NOIR on their annual cruises are always entitled to their $200/$300 OBC but on numerous occasions I had to argue with them about just booking a standalone cruise and have this added. Never with any success. I gave up in the end and only used X for the free sailings compliments of MLife.

Well, that's not very fun.  Hehe.   The OBC seems 'free' but I would guess most MGM gold holders would agree that OBC of $125 was definitely spent at the casino in order to 'earn' that status but it is/was a nice extra perk.

It still shows online with MGM so I would definitely make it a point with Celebrity and MGM to get it added.

I know they have to verify your status and for when it's valid until so perhaps that could be a 'glitch'.  Once I called in September for a May cruise and I had to wait until after October to add it on.   It clearly states it has to be done at the time of booking but there is leeway based on my experience...even though I give my MGM # when I book and then call.

Same.  Very frustrating to be told you needed to book under an offer when no offers were sent in the first place!

I am MLife gold and I got a free cruise back in 2019 which has been carried over to 2022 due to COVID. I got them to apply the $125 OBC last week…

I booked this week via the MGM Gold card phone number after searching my emails.  I found it in an email I ignored a few months ago. I got the $125 OBC and a 50% off Casino Rate for the cabin, and it includes Wifi, Drinks and Tips. I was told it was a "once a year" rate as long as I maintained Gold or above.  It was a much better deal than I saw booking direct, or booking via a TA
