Lucinda Williams hat mit ihrem Mix aus Country, Folk, Blues und Rock eine der interessantesten Americana-Mischungen entworfen, die es so auf dem Markt gibt. Nun ist die Sängerin auch schon 70 Jahre alt und gibt zum Glück für uns alle noch immer kraftvolle Gigs.

Das ist nach gleich mehrerern Schicksalsschlägen nicht selbstverständlich: Vor drei Jahren zerstörte ein Tornado einen Teil ihres neuen Hauses und ein Schlaganfall einen Teil ihrer Beweglichkeit. Williams konnte nicht mehr Gitarre spielen und musste mühsam wieder laufen lernen.

Auch wenn die Musikerin findet, dass sich inzwischen der Kreis so langsam schließe, bleibt sie ungebrochen produktiv. 2020 erschien ihr Album „Good Souls Better Angels“ und zelebrierte damit wieder den Blues, der sie bereits als junge Künstlerin in den 70er Jahren inspirierte. Mit „Stories From A Rock‘n‘Roll Heart“ , ihrem inzwischen 14. Studioalbum, kehrt Williams Ende Juni 2023 indes zu ihrem gelassenen Rock-Sound zurück, mit dem sie nicht nur viele Fans gewann, sondern auch viele Kollegen von sich überzeugen konnte. Kein Zufall ist es also, dass auf der Platte ein Gastspiel von Bruce Springsteen und dessen Gattin Patti Scialfa zu hören ist („New York Comeback“). Auch Indie-Darling Angel Olsen ist mit dabei.

Die große Songwriterin geht nun im März 2024 auch wieder auf Deutschland-Tour, um ihr neues Material zu präsentieren. Mit dabei sind Gigs in Hamburg, Berlin, Köln und München. Am 12. März spielt die Sängerin auch in Wien. Präsentiert werden die Auftritte von ROLLING STONE. Tickets gibt es im Vorverkauf auf Eventim .

Nach einer wunderbaren Vorgruppe (L.A. Edwards) 2 Stunden Lucinda Williams ohne Pause (trotz Schlaganfall) mit einer tollen Band - ein toller Abend

Eines der besten Konzerte ever. Eine Wucht!

Alles perfekt,die Band so tight, der Zeugler mit viel Gefühl, immer Banddienlich, hat sich nie in den Vordergrund gespielt, die Gitarreros lässig und Lucinda eine Wucht, trotz ihres schlechten Gesundheitszustandes. Einfach super!

Von der Krankheit gezeichnet !

Ich habe Lucinda Williams vor einem Jahr in München gesehen. Da war sie aufgrund ihrer Krankheit (Schlaganfall) noch recht gut drauf und hatte Spass auf ihrem Konzert ! Nun, ein Jahr später hat sich ihr Gesundheitszustand eher verschlechtert . Sie konnte bei den meisten Liedern die Stimme nicht halten. Dank ihrer absolut guten Begleitband, die stimmlich sehr stabil und perfekt waren, konnte man das Konzert noch halbwegs genießen !

Lucinda Williams Announces Tour For 'Stories From A Rock 'N Roll Heart' - Setlist, Dates & Tickets

T ickets for Lucinda Williams ’ tour are currently on sale after the singer released her new album Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart. 

This comes three years since Williams suffered a stroke and lost the ability to use the left side of her body. Since then, Williams has been in rehab in an attempt to learn how to relearn how to walk and do other basic functions. Not only did she suffer from a serious medical condition, but in 2020 she also experienced her Nashville home being damaged by a tornado and went through the pandemic.

She announced the album back in April on her Instagram, sharing a sneak peek of her new single “New York Comeback” and officially launched it in June. It was a challenging process for the singer to create the album, as she had to invent a new songwriting procedure due to her being unable to play the guitar anymore. 

Throughout the album, she has multiple guests, including Margo Prince , Bruce Springsteen , Patti Scialfa , Tommy Stinson and more. Her husband, Tom Overby , who happens to be her manager and co-producer, also helped support her by collaborating with her on the album. 

What also makes the album unique is her dedicated song “Stolen Moments” to her late idol Tom Petty, whom she toured with in 1999.

Long term artists need to give some strong consideration to incorporating Lucinda's story-telling formate explaining the context of each song. We've all grown-up over decades around these songs and albums; weaving the stories around them kept the audience engaged and legitimately connected to the artist. The band was tight and a great backdrop to frame-up Lucinda as the spotlight.

Now, on the down-side ... She went political midway through and at the end of the show, sighting racism, inclusion, boarder wall, etc.

Lucinda, your music is generally about love, relationships, tragedy, moods and place. The left-coast audience generally ate-it-up your rants, but once again, you are providing entertainment at a high ticket price. Save your viewpoints for social media and just play your incredibly heart-felt and emotionally engaging music!!!

Lucinda and her band Buick 6 were outstanding last night at the Anthem in DC. They work together so well and they enjoy it. Good range of songs from through out her career. It was all highlight but I particularly enjoyed Out of touch, Essence, Changed the locks and her song for the times Foolishness. Definitely my favorite artist at the moment. She shared the headline with Drive By Truckers and it is one of the greatest mysteries of the age as to why I have never seen them before. Lesson for everyone - join forces with Lucinda. You know it makes sense.

Great songwriter with a unique voice and a fantastic band. Show was sublime and enjoyable, while I knew some of her songs didn't know many but it did not matter as Lucinda is a great storyteller. Tapped into country and traditional but with wonderful rock and roll ingredients. Her band are amazing musicians and she seemed to really appreciate their prowess and was very generous in sharing the limelight with them. The lead guitar was inventive at all times and the drummer was doing amazingly clever things while the bass player was so solid and obviously brilliant and when she joined in on second guitar it was amazing. They seemed to really revere Lucinda as well. All in all it was a great night of music and she was so genuine and sweet with the audience which made it appear that she really appreciated the response she got from the Fort Lauderdale crowd.

The shows, which will see Lucinda stop off at UK spots in London, Birmingham and Holmfirth, will see a setlist of classics, as well as songs from her triumphant new record Stories From A Rock N Roll Heart .

Lucinda’s highly-anticipated new album Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart was produced by Williams, Tom Overby and Ray Kennedy, who also engineered. The album includes guest backing vocals by Jeremy Ivey, Jesse Malin, Buddy Miller, Angel Olsen, Margo Price, Patti Scialfa, Bruce Springsteen and Tommy Stinson. 

In April, Williams released her long-awaited memoir Don’t Tell Anybody The Secrets I Told You (Crown, a division of Penguin Random House LLC) to wide critical acclaim. The memoir debuted at #5 on the New York Times Bestsellers and was featured on the cover of the New York Times Sunday Styles . Williams was featured at Vanity Fair , NPR All Things Considered , The Associated Press , Esquire , The Nation and much more including a recent sit down on Late Night with Seth Meyers . Williams will be the subject of an upcoming feature segment on CBS Sunday Morning .
