Unleash the boundless joy within

Meditation for the busiest of minds

Happiness can seem elusive at times, a distant dream, or so fleeting you wonder where it went. The mind swirls around, crammed with thoughts. Disconnection and stress easily become the norm. In today’s society, it is more important than ever to gain tools to connect to the wellspring of calm and peace within you, in the here and now. And that’s what meditation does. It gives you access to the stillness that resides deep within, a place that is steady, at ease, clear, and relaxed regardless of what’s happening around you. Science is now showing us what ancient yogis knew thousands of years ago, meditation works. And what’s even better? Anyone can meditate, even the busiest of minds!  Globally celebrated meditation master, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, will share with you ancient techniques for contemporary life, to enable you to fill up from the inside so when the inevitable challenges of life arise, your connection to the fullness, and steadiness within, remains. Knowing how to manage the mind is fundamental to inner peace, joy, and a centered state of mind. When the mind is calm, everything in life gets sweeter—relationships improve, stress is reduced, mood lifts, and there is a greater sense of ease and joy each day.

Meditation

The Doorway to Happiness

Hypnotherapy

Learn to listen and work with your Inner World

Hypnotherapy, like meditation, is a powerful way to slow down brain waves to Alpha and Theta states.  In these states, we turn down the volume on our analytical mind, and allow clearer access to subconscious brain activity connected to long term memory, habits, emotions, and spiritual connection.

In today's world, we are trained to overextend our logical, left brain capacities, while ignoring or having limited awareness of how to listen to the numerous layers of data being communicated in our bodies and emotions.

Hypnotherapy allows you the time and space to focus inward, listen, and learn new ways to work with your whole system.  As a hypnotherapist, I am trained to guide you and travel with you on this inward journey.  Your body, mind, and emotions will give us the clues for the journey; clues for what is important to notice, process, release, and heal.  You will walk away from a session with full memory of what was experienced; as well as new resources to integrate and utilize in your daily life.

My clients frequently report surprise and awe at the connections that arise in session.  They gain deep insight into their own emotional and physical systems, as well as into roots of the presenting issues.

I can assist you on your journey inward to:

find clearer purpose for this lifetime

connect to the desires and intentions of your soul

retrieve and integrate lost parts of you soul

understand and break unhealthy patterns

connect with loved ones and guides in spirit

Intuitive Readings

What to Expect?

People often seek out this type of session for confirmation and guidance from a higher wisdom held within their personal energy field/spirit.  We as humans question and want to know what is our highest good related to career, relationships, personal growth, spiritual growth, life path, or soul's purpose.

In an Intuitive session, I will tune into your energy and connect with your inner wisdom that is often hiding under one's internal clutter and chatter. I perceive messages through feelings, visual imagery, and inner knowing; all of which I will share with you.  I will seek answers that confirm your own inner knowing, empowering you to move forward with your goals.

Information that comes through readings does not predict a fixed future outcome ; it only offers a snapshot of what could happen if all stays the same. As soon as you change something - beliefs, fears, what you want - the outcome can change.

Why Intuitive Readings?

Through my work as a Clinical Counselor and Hypnotherapist, I began noticing an increase in intuitive information coming to me related to the clients I worked with.  In order to learn more about how to work with this spiritual and psychic data, I studied with local mediums and spiritual teachers, Rose Vanden Eynden and Joanne Franchina.   Through these studies, I developed my Empathic abilities of clear feeling, clear seeing, and clear knowing.

If you would like to learn of additional spirit centered services I offer, please visit my other website: www.journeyswithinllc.com

Two dead bodies were found in the Ohio River near Cincinnati within a 15-hour span, according to Boone County Water Rescue.

On Friday at approximately 8:10 p.m., a Boone County Water Rescue team was notified of a possible body floating down the river. Crews were able to locate the body in between the Purple People Bridge and Taylor Southgate Bridge.

The body was then taken to the Kentucky side of the river where it was transferred over to Newport fire and the Campbell County Coroner's Office.

Exactly 15 hours later at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, the water rescue team was dispatched to the report of another person in the water. Barge crews located a dead body on the Ohio side of the river near the Brent Spence Bridge.

A Cincinnati fire boat transported Cincinnati police detectives, crime scene units and the Hamilton County Coroner's Office to the location of the body so they could conduct their investigations.

Both recoveries are still under investigation. Identities of the victims have yet to be released and it is unclear whether foul play was involved in either death.

Learn more from our article .

Get the Band Together for Warbands (Now Live)

With the arrival of  The War Within , upon first logging into  World of Warcraft , the Warband conversion process automatically enables many of the game's progression systems to be account-wide. Players will not need to log into each character individually for all progression, items, etc., to convert; however, there may be a short wait for the system to completely process your Warband the first time you log in. The Warband conversion process can take up to 20 minutes or longer, and depending on the amount of data being processed, there could be a login queue.

The new Warbands system is effective for all characters on a player's Battle.net account and the items, Collections, and progression they share. It's important to note that your Warband is limited to characters within a  single region  (for example, the Americas or Europe) but spans every realm, faction, and even subscription you may have within that region.

Please note that as the character selection screen shows all characters on the Battle.net account in one convenient location, some may show up as “gray” in the listing and are not available to select to use a Character Service on. To use a service for that character, you will need to select the realm that the character is from first by clicking on the “Realm” selection at the top of the screen and then apply the service to that character. You can also hover your mouse cursor over a character listed on the right side of the screen to see additional information including the realm it is currently on. Learn more about Warbands in our previously published article .

Take to the Skies with Skyriding (Now Live)

Dragonriding is here to stay and is available for many flying mounts in all flyable areas. Players can also toggle between Skyriding (previously known as dynamic flight) or the flying style introduced originally in  The Burning Crusade (TBC)  which we’re calling Steady Flight.

You can easily identify the mounts that are enabled for Skyriding from within the Warbands Collection tab (Shift-P) which is noted as Skyriding. To switch between Skyriding and Steady Flight, you can do so directly in the mount collection by clicking on the Skyriding icon in the middle of the interface and selecting “Switch Flight Style” in the drop-down menu. It’s important to note that any mount that doesn’t support Skyriding will be grounded if Skyriding is active. You will also be able to open your Skills Unlock here as well.

The ground mounts in your collection will continue to stay grounded, but most flying mounts will be able to be put to use for Skyriding save for a select few such as the Otterworldly Ottuk Carrier, some fish mounts, and brooms.

Short Stories

...

After several younglings are lost attempting their om’gora rites, Thrall begins questioning the value of the trials. The new generation places such emphasis on martial strength and battle prowess that they would risk death attempting the rites before they are ready. Walking through Orgrimmar with his family, Thrall reflects on his son’s readiness for the trials, his own coming of age, and how to prepare this new generation to build on the legacy he and his friends started long ago. Read it here.

...

"The Lilac and the Stone"

Queen Regent Moira Thaurissan is exhausted. Her son, Dagran II, is rapidly coming of age and stands to inherit leadership of both the Dark Iron and Bronzebeard Clans. But Dagran is bookish and odd: He would easily choose the company of his library over leadership. Can Moira inspire her son to take up his birthright, or will her fears for his future—and the future of the clans—prove true?  Read it here.

...

"The Goblin Way"

Monte Gazlowe, Trade Prince of the Bilgewater Cartel, has been probing working conditions among the goblins. Everywhere he tours he sees a burned-out workforce, cheap machinery, and unhealthy working conditions that drag production and denigrate their people. “This is the goblin way! Dog eat dog! Only the winner comes out on top!” But is this really the goblin way, or is it just the way Jastor Gallywix wanted them looking?  Read it here.

...

"The Calling"

Since leaving the realms of Death, Anduin Wrynn has only sought to keep his hands busy. Plagued by night terrors and grisly flashbacks, the young king finally finds the isolation he seeks in Stormsong Valley, milling flour for a local village. But while Anduin may be able to hide his identity, he cannot escape who he is or the stuff he is made from.  Read it here.

Can you prosecute a doctor after an overdose? Matthew Perry charges say yes.

Portrait of Jeanine Santucci

Two medical doctors are among the five people charged in connection with "Friends" star Matthew Perry's death , officials announced Thursday.

Perry, 54, was found unresponsive in his pool last year and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office said his death was caused by " the acute effects of ketamine ."

While not unheard of, experts told USA TODAY it's relatively rare for physicians to be criminally charged in overdose cases given the huge number of doctors in the U.S., and most of the cases where charges are brought relate to the ongoing opioid crisis.

"This is an exceptional and tragic case," said Dr. Caleb Alexander, a professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Southern California doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez are both accused of conspiring to distribute ketamine to Perry, and deliberately fueling his addiction in order to gain profit for themselves, prosecutors said. Three other people are also charged: Jasveen Sangha, also known as "The Ketamine Queen" of North Hollywood; Perry's live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa; and Erik Fleming, who admitted to distributing the ketamine that killed Perry.

What are the doctors accused of?

The two doctors played an integral role in Perry's untimely death, and "took advantage" of Perry's known struggle with drug addiction to make a profit, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said at a news conference.

Plasencia, 42, is charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, seven counts of distributing ketamine and two counts of falsifying records.

Chavez, a 54-year-old doctor from San Diego, agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Prosecutors say he sold the drug to Plasencia and submitted a fake prescription in the name of another unsuspecting patient to access more vials of ketamine that he could sell to Plasencia, for distribution to Perry.

According to prosecutors, Plasencia, who is from Santa Monica, learned that Perry wanted to purchase ketamine – which is most often used as an anesthetic and requires close monitoring – and coordinated with Chavez to obtain large amounts of the drug. Plasencia met with Perry and his assistant Iwamasa and taught them how to inject Perry with the drug, they said. Plasencia also injected the drug into Perry himself, including once inside a parked car, prosecutors said.

"I wonder how much this moron will pay," Plasencia said in a message to Chavez, according to an indictment.

Plasencia continued to sell the ketamine to Perry even after he learned Perry's addiction was "spiraling out of control," prosecutors said.

“Dr. Plascencia and Dr. Chavez violated the oath they took to care for their patients. Instead of 'do no harm,' they did harm so that they could make more money," said Anne Milgram, administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

How common is it for doctors to face charges?

The charges bring to mind the case of Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal physician who was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter after the singer's 2009 death from a fatal dose of the drug propofol.

But the majority of charges related to drug overdoses are brought against doctors who treated everyday Americans, not celebrities, said Adam Gershowitz, a professor at William & Mary Law School, who has published research on doctors convicted for prescribing opioids for illegitimate medical purposes. Still, a high-profile death can motivate prosecutors to conduct a thorough investigation.

"Generally speaking, these are cases where the U.S. Attorney's Office has begun investigating, not because anybody famous died, but because ... they have been in the business of prosecuting doctors for these illicit drug sales and for deaths that occur during them," Gershowitz said.

Overall, criminal charges against doctors are rare, and the vast majority of them are tied to opioid overdoses, which have led to a crackdown on physicians overprescribing, all while illegally manufactured fentanyl has taken over drug sales on the streets.

More than 4,200 doctors have faced criminal drug-related charges since 2014, around the time when illegally manufactured fentanyl entered the scene in the U.S., fueling tens of thousands of opioid deaths annually. That's according to an analysis of data from the National Practitioner Data Bank by Tony Yang, a professor and associate dean for health policy and population science at the George Washington University School of Nursing.

Over the last few years, the number of doctors charged has dropped, Yang told USA TODAY. The DEA took action against 479 doctors in 2016. In 2021, the number had dropped to 447 and steadily fell to 391 in 2022 and 330 in 2023.

In 2015, Southern California Dr. Hsiu Ying “Lisa” Tseng, became the first physician in the U.S. to be convicted of murder for prescribing the drugs that led the fatal overdoses of three patients. Other cases include Dr. Martin Tesher, who was convicted of distributing oxycodone  without a legitimate medical reason in Brooklyn in 2017, leading to a fatal overdose. A Manhattan doctor, Gordon Freedman , was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison in 2021 for drug charges, including distributing oxycodone and fentanyl without a medical reason to a patient who also died.

The legal challenges of prosecuting a doctor

When prosecutors decide to charge medical doctors with drug charges, they have to not only prove the doctor distributed the drugs, but also that there was no legitimate medical reason to do so. That's a high burden of proof that can be tricky to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, said Gershowitz, because doctors are often able to say prescriptions were related to symptoms the patient expressed. Many times, a doctor might have their medical license suspended or taken, but not face criminal charges, he said.

Charges tend to be brought only in cases involving more egregious conduct, Alexander said. That could include a doctor who sees dozens of patients in a day and does not spend enough time to properly evaluate them but still prescribes dangerous drugs; exchanges large amounts of cash during an office visit; or keeps shoddy records.

Nassau County, New York, doctor George Blatti, for example, was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison earlier this year for second-degree manslaughter after his overprescription of opioids led to five deaths . Prosecutors said he prescribed massive amounts of pills to patients, including some he had never examined or even met. He met patients in his car and wrote prescriptions while parked at the hotel where he lived or at a nearby Dunkin' Donuts.

Ketamine is a bit different than the opioid cases, Alexander said. While opioids have a wide range of appropriate uses and reasons to be prescribed, ketamine is almost exclusively used in the administration of anesthesia, he said. Its primary effect is to alter someone's state of consciousness, mood, behavior and cognition.

Alexander said the charges against the doctors who allegedly distributed ketamine to Perry are important.

"These cases serve two purposes: the first is that a well functioning legal system requires that individuals be held accountable," he said. "And it's also important to the degree that it deters others from wandering beyond reasonable standards of care."

Black Myth: Wukong breaks Steam’s concurrent single-player record within hours of launch

Considered china’s first aaa game, the title launches with significant baggage attached..

Black Myth: Wukong , considered China’s first true AAA game, has broken Steam’s concurrent players record for a single-player title, passing Cyberpunk 2077 for the single-player record. In addition, it’s now the game with the second-most all-time concurrent players to date (including multiplayer), moving past Palworld . Based on the 16th-century novel Journey to the West , the souls-like action-adventure epic peaked at 2,223,179 players.

Industry analyst Simon Carless of GameDiscoverCo posted on X (Twitter) early on Tuesday an estimate that Black Myth: Wukong ’s regional breakdown heavily favored its home country. The agency’s pie graph showed China claiming 88 percent of the game’s players. (In second place was the US at a mere three percent.) Although some interpreted that as potentially showing inflated numbers, the game launched in the middle of the night in the western hemisphere, and Carless’ stats were posted around 5AM ET.

The title’s records come against a backdrop of misogyny and censorship accusations aimed at developer Game Science. Streamers who were granted early access keys were given a (non-legally-binding) document that raised some eyebrows.

The document included a list of banned topics the streamers were to avoid discussing while broadcasting gameplay. The New York Times reported that the off-limits subjects included politics, “feminist propaganda,” COVID-19, China’s gaming industry, and anything else that “instigates negative discourse.” (While streamers were given the list, reviewers weren’t.)

Of course, the COVID mention is easily tied to the nation’s “zero-COVID” restrictions .

As for the “feminist propaganda” restriction for Black Myth: Wukong ’s streamers, you can easily draw a straight line from widespread accusations of misogyny from developer Game Science and individuals working there, including some of its cofounders. Among the many instances (summarized in a 2023 IGN story ) were Game Science recruitment posters from 2015, one of which implied friends with benefits were an office perk and another featuring a dumbbell with the text (translated) “fatties should fuck off.” (Yikes.) The accusations go on from there.

Game Science has ties to the Chinese government, which is no stranger to accusations of misogyny and censorship. To cite only a few examples, the #MeToo hashtag was censored or blocked on Chinese social platforms during the height of the movement, posts from feminist and LGBTQ+ groups and voices are routinely blocked or deleted on the country’s social media, feminist perspectives are frequently restricted or censored in China’s academic institutions and activists are no strangers to harassment, surveillance or arrests.

Tencent Holdings, a five-percent stakeholder according to The NY Times , has direct ties to Xi’s government. Meanwhile, the game’s publisher, Zhejiang Publishing & Media, is majority-owned by the Zhejiang provincial government. Finally, Hero Games, the company that sent out the streamer keys on Game Science’s behalf, has financial ties to “several state-owned enterprises,” according to The NYT . Hero Games owns around 20 percent of Game Science.

Some streamers supplied with keys (and the attached red tape) decided not to cover the game. “I have never seen anything that shameful in my 15 years doing this job. This is very clearly a document which explains that we must censor ourselves,” the prominent French streamer Benoit Reinier said (translated) in a YouTube video .

In Engadget’s preview of Black Myth: Wukong from earlier this summer (which didn’t include provisions about censored topics like streamers received), Mat Smith found the game visually stunning. We found the demo “elevated by how good the environment looks, the bizarre monster design and the quiet, unsettling soundtrack.” The game is available now on PC and PS5 .

'Incredible journey' ends as Jacksonville restaurant and sports bar closes after 15 years

Portrait of Teresa Stepzinski

After 15 years, a Dallas-based restaurant and sports bar abruptly closed its sole Jacksonville location ― listed as the only one in Florida ― on Sunday.

Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar , 13070 City Station Drive in River City Marketplace, announced on Facebook that it was shutting its doors permanently. No reason was given in the post.

"It is with a mixture of sadness and gratitude that we write to you today. After 15 wonderful years of serving our beloved community, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors permanently," the post read. "It has been an incredible journey, filled with unforgettable moments, laughter, celebrations, and the joy of sharing delicious meals with all of you."

The Jacksonville restaurant was a family-owned and operated franchise location. Restaurant officials couldn't be reached immediately for comment.

"Thank you, once again, for being a part of our restaurant's history. We will always remember the friendships, laughter, and support you've given us over the years. It's been a privilege and an honor to serve this community," they also said in the closure post.

The 6,434-square-foot restaurant is listed for lease by NNN Retail Investment Group of Scottsdale, Ariz., which describes itself "as a nationwide boutique real estate investment" on its website.

The restaurant is located between Olive Garden and the recently closed Red Lobster in the North Jacksonville shopping center near Jacksonville International Airport.

Boston's bills itself as being both "a family-friendly restaurant and a lively sports bar all under one roof."

The restaurant is known for its "hand-pressed" gourmet pizza as well as pasta, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, wings and Bandera bread.

In addition, the Jacksonville location hosted lively bingo, trivia and karaoke nights.

Customers responded to the closure with dismay.

"Very sorry to hear this. I'm going to miss you guys. Fun place to go listen to music or sing karaoke close to home. Won't be the same without you. Thank you for all the great memories!" one longtime customer posted on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Dating back to 1964 in Edmonton, Canada, the restaurant chain says on its website that it has more than 400 locations across North America.

Devin Bush's Unique Journey From One Side Of Browns, Steelers Rivalry To The Other

Spencer german | aug 14, 2024.

Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon (28) is sandwiched between Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush (30) and Cleveland Browns cornerback Kahlef Hailassie (25) during the first half of an NFL preseason football game at Cleveland Browns Stadium, Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio.

  • Cleveland Browns
  • Pittsburgh Steelers

Only 67 players have played a game for both the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers . Former Steelers first-round pick Devin Bush is looking to become the 68th player to don both uniforms in this heated AFC North rivalry.

"Just being from the other side, it's literally the same thing," Bush said early on at Browns training camp. "'Brownies' is all I heard. ... It's just the rivalry, it's always been there, it's always deep. It's more physical. There's more preparation that goes into it. There's more said about the game."

Bush will get a taste of what it's like from the other side of the rivalry in 2024. The 26-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Browns this offseason after spending last season with the Seattle Seahawks .

Bush found comfort in an AFC North return this offseason. And even though his career began in Pittsburgh, Cleveland isn't so unfamiliar considering his father played for the Browns from 2001-2002.

"It's cool, it's funny," says Bush of the irony. "It's different from when he played obviously. It's different for me but what I find funny is everything did happen to me it was against his team. And just being here is a funny coincidence."

Bush was the 10th overall pick by the Steelers out of Michigan and immediately made his presence felt as a rangey linebacker in the middle of their defe. An impressive rookie season that saw him finish third for AP Rookie of the Year had Browns fans thinking Bush would be the next great Steelers defender to torment Cleveland for years to come.

Then came a brutal ACL tear just five games into the 2020 season – against the Browns as fate would have it. After surgery and an extensive rehab process Bush struggled to reclaim his rookie form. That left Pittsburgh unwilling to pick up the fifth-year option in his rookie deal. It's not hyperbol to say the injury completely changed the trajectory of Bush's career.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush takes the field to play the New York Jets

"That was one of those things where you can't really be helped through it," Bush said. "It's just a day-by-day process. ... There's no special therapy. There's no special trick. There's no speech. There's nobody that's gonna come to your rescue but yourself and what you want to do there to get back to the game.

"Looking back at it now definitely helped me grow a lot as a person helped me grow a lot as a player."

Bush left Pittsburgh scarred in more ways than one. His eventual fallout with the Steelers due to the injury, served as a sobering reminder that football is a business.

That situation turned out to be yet another valuable learning experience for him.

"I would say I learned the business right then and there," Bush admitted. "It was definitely a process getting back, but through that process, I was able to pick up a lot on how the businesses ran, what happens, the cause and effect of things. So I mean, I learned a lot about the business. And I learned a lot about how to how to handle myself within the business."

That side of football was a whole new world for Bush. Like many young players, the euphoric backdrop of college football "can trick you," the 26-year-old explained. Players are sold on this idea of playing for "the love of the game," and sacrificing their bodies for championships and their teammates. Those Hollywood themes lose their novelty when a team can cut you at a moments notice and suddenly the checks stop cashing.

Bush had to learn that the hard way, which is why more than anything he's just grateful to still have an opportunity to play football. To have it be with a fact a franchise he knows well is a bonus.

"So far I love it. I love being here," he said. "I'm super familiar with everybody on the team I'm super familiar with, with this team and how things go. Right now I'm just taking the stride for stride and just having fun with it."

Bush was only three years old when his dad first started a short stint with Cleveland in 2001. The Michigan product doesn't remember much from his old man's two years with the franchise. Somewhere in a collection of family photos, however, are some images of Bush wearing a Browns jersey. In a full circle moment he now wears a Browns jersey with his name on it.

"He just happy that I'm still playing," Bush said of his father's reaction to him joining his former team. It's different for the league, if it's college it would have been different but for the league it's like yeah, alright you'll be there, one year deal, you'll be there you might be out so just happy that I'm still playing and I'm still loving the game."

The father son duo now get to share a special bond over playing for the Browns, completing a rare reverse heel turn for the younger Bush. He knows what changing sides of the rivalry means. He still remembers Cleveland's famous playoff win over the Steelers in January of 2020. Despite not playing in the game, he and his former teammates were left stunned by the 48-37 loss – the first Browns playoff win since the team was re-established in 1999.

"It was like 'did that really just happen?' kind of thing," he said. It was a wild card game and the first play the snap went over [Ben Roethlisberger's] head, and after that it was a disaster. It was one of those like 'yeah, did that really just happen to us' moments."

Playing on a one-year deal, Bush has no idea what's in store for his career beyond 2024. However long his time in Cleveland lasts Bush hopes to help create more memorable Browns moments like that one – the the expense of the team he used to play for.

"I love night games in Cleveland for sure," he said. "That's probably one of the best times to play in Cleveland honestly. I'm just looking forward to being back in the AFC North man. I went out to the NFC West and it was a whole different vibe, whole different style and that wasn't something I was familiar with."
