The Getaway Shows

The Getaway Tour , also known as The Getaway Shows , was a cancelled mini-tour across the United States by Gorillaz intended to happen in the Fall of 2023 featuring special guests Kaytranada , Lil' Yachty , and Remi Wolf .

The tour was announced on 30 May 2023 through a video posted on the band's social media platforms and a slight website change providing the dates and locations the tour would take place (Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, Boston). The dates were September 10th, September 13th, September 16th, and September 19th, 2023. The website provided new promotional art showing the band members posing on top of the Static Channel television (shown on the right).

On 21 June 2023, however, all four concerts were cancelled due to "scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond their control". Refunds were issued for everyone who had already purchased tickets for any of the shows. The trailer for the tour on Gorillaz' official YouTube channel was also subsequently privated.

Gorillaz is heading out on the road for a special tour this fall. On Tuesday (May 30), the group announced The Getaway 2023 tour, which is scheduled to take place in September.

The Getaway tour comes on the heels of Gorillaz’s back-to-back performances at Coachella in April. The trek follows the quartet’s 2022 World Tour led by Damon Albarn and a 14-piece live band, which featured multiple guest performers.

Gorillaz to Mark Dog Days of Summer With ‘Getaway Shows’

Gorillaz have announced a short run of shows in the U.S., which will take place in September. Kaytranada, Lil Yachty, and Remi Wolf will support all dates. Per a statement, the trek will mark the group’s final run of U.S. dates in support of Cracker Island , the band’s most recent album featuring Stevie Nicks, Bad Bunny, Beck and more that arrived in February.

Dubbed “The Getaway Shows,” the band will perform at amphitheaters and stadiums in four cities: Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston, during the dog days of summer. Per a statement, the shows will “find 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel on the run in the U.S., having packed into their van following Gorillaz’ recent back-to-back Coachella performances.”

Gorillaz Announce End-of-Summer “Getaway Shows”

Gorillaz have announced a limited run of US shows taking place in September 2023.

“The Getaway Shows” will see the band play stadiums and amphitheaters in Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston with support from Kaytranada, Lil Yachty, and Remi Wolf.

According to a press release, these will mark the final US dates in support of Gorillaz’s latest album, Cracker Island .

Tickets are available via StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

Back in April, Gorillaz hit the stage at Coachella. Their weekend two performance was especially memorable, as it featured guest appearances from Bad Bunny, Beck, De La Soul, Yasiin Bey, Del the Funky Homosapien, Little Simz, Thundercat, and more.

Limited Run of U.S. Shows with Support on All Dates from KAYTRANADA, Lil Yachty and Remi Wolf

Gorillaz today announced The Getaway, a series of four U.S. shows slated for this Fall, with support from KAYTRANADA, Lil Yachty and Remi Wolf. The Getaway will be the final run of U.S. dates in support of the band’s recently released smash album Cracker Island , and will kick off on Sunday, September 10 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, with stops at Q2 Stadium in Austin on Wednesday, September 13 and Credit 1 Union Amphitheatre in Chicago on September 16, before wrapping up on Tuesday, September 19 at Boston’s Fenway Park. The Fall dates find 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel on the run in the U.S., having packed into their van following Gorillaz’ recent back-to-back Coachella performances – the first of which inspired The Los Angeles Times to proclaim “Gorillaz rule Day 1,” the second described by Uproxx as “electrifying” – and their highly successful 2022 World Tour led by Damon Albarn and the 14-piece live band, aided and abetted by a varying cast of guest performers.

TICKETS: Tickets will be available starting with a Live Nation presale beginning Wednesday, May 31st at 10 AM local time. The general onsale will begin Friday, June 2nd at 10 AM local time at Gorillaz.com .

Gorillaz Plot Four-City U.S. Stadium Run Ft. KAYTRANADA, Lil Yachty, Remi Wolf

Gorillaz will head out on a four-show, four-city run of U.S. stadium and amphitheater dates in the fall of 2023 billed as The Getaway Shows . The performances, which will feature special guests KAYTRANADA ,  Lil Yachty , and  Remi Wolf , will serve as the final run of American concerts in support of Gorillaz’ 2022 album,  Cracker Island .

The brainchild of musician  Damon Albarn  and visual artist  Jamie Hewlett , Gorillaz have spent the last two decades becoming the world’s biggest “virtual” band, with their output presented as the work of characters 2-D ,  Murdoc Niccals ,  Noodle , and  Russel Hobbs . The gang recently made headlines with show-stealing performances at  Coachella 2023 . Last year, the animated ensemble—and the 14-piece live band that brings its music to life—hit the road for a lengthy North American arena tour in support of the new album, often with the help of an array of high-profile guests.

Gorillaz have announced a limited run of US shows taking place in September 2023.

A Live Nation pre-sale is set for Wednesday, May 31st (use access code ICONIC ), ahead of a general on-sale scheduled for Friday, June 2nd via Ticketmaster .

Gorillaz Announce The Getaway Tour

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Gorillaz has announced their forthcoming The Getaway Tour, a series of four U.S. shows slated to pop off this Fall.

The animated four-piece will play stadium-sized shows with special guests Kaytranada, Lil Yachty and Remi Wolf. Although they will not stop by the Borderland you can still catch them on the road.

The Gorillaz Getaway Tour will kick off in Los Angeles on September 10 at BMO Stadium. Additional Gorillaz tour dates include shows in Q2 Stadium in Austin on September 13 and Credit 1 Union Amphitheatre in Chicago on September 16, before closing on September 19 at Boston’s Fenway Park.

The live experience of Gorillaz is a culmination of over 20 years of boundary-breaking, innovative music created by Damon Albarntt and Jamie Hewlet. The band members, including singer 2D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle, and drummer Russel Hobbs, have produced an extensive collection of timeless hits such as “Clint Eastwood,” “Rock The House,” “Feel Good Inc.,” “Dirty Harry,” “Kids With Guns,” and many others.

The Getaway tour is the final run of U.S. dates in support of the band’s recently released album "Cracker Island". The group put out their eighth studio album “Cracker Island” on February 24 of this year.

In April 2023, Gorillaz performed a show-stopping set at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival that seamlessly blended live-action theatricality with jumbotron-sized animation as well as hip-hop with abstract art rock.

This summer, Damon Albarn aka 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs are doing it all over again.

From Sept. 10-19, the “Feel Good Inc.” group is embarking on their four-concert ‘The Getaway Shows’ mini tour playing stadiums and amphitheaters all over North America along with special guests Kaytranada, Lil Yachty and Remi Wolf.

While they currently don’t have a New York show on the quick run, they will come close when they perform at Boston’s Fenway Park on Sept. 19.

And if you need tickets to hear “Clint Eastwood,” “On Melancholy Hill,” “Dirty Harry,” “Plastic Beach” and tracks from their latest album “Cracker Island” as soon as today, you’re in luck.

Official Platinum Presale

An Official Platinum presale will also begin Wednesday, May 31st at 10am local time.  You do not need a presale code to take part in this presale , but expect the ticket prices to be higher. Get more details on Official Platinum tickets below.

What Are Those Official Platinum Tickets?

If you see expensive tickets that are not VIP packages, those are official platinum tickets. These tickets are offered well over standard ticket prices, which is unfair to fans. The Event Organizer(s) have priced these tickets according to their market value (aka dynamic pricing). In other words, ticket pricing can go up or down and usually goes up.

Official platinum tickets do not include VIP packages. The only positive thing about them is that they make buying floor or front-row tickets to a high-demand concert easy if you’re willing to shed the extra cash. They can be bought during a presale without a presale code (which doesn’t always apply to Verified Fan/Weverse presales). Availability and pricing for official platinum tickets are subject to change based on demand.

Pro Tips When Buying Your Tickets

First, on the day of the presale or general onsale (whichever you prefer), login to your Ticketmaster account ( go to my account or sign in located on the upper right corner of the page ) at least 15 minutes ahead of the sale time. If you don’t have one,  create one now .

Be sure to add your billing info (aka credit card info) before jumping into the digital queue for a quick check-out. Once the presale starts, remain in the digital queue. Only use one browser window because using multiple browsers or devices and multiple accounts with the same phone number can result in errors. Trust, it’s happened to us before! Don’t refresh your page, do be patient, don’t leave your page, do get those tickets!

What To Do If Tickets Are Sold Out?

If tickets sell out, your other option is to buy them via online resellers like VividSeats or StubHub. When all else fails, we prefer these resell options because both offer a 100% Guarantee. You can also purchase resell tickets through Ticketmaster’s resell program. Just search for the concert or event you want to attend , and see if they have any resell tickets available. We recommend you compare the three options and find out which works best for you.

Alternatively, you can hit it old school style and show up at the concert when the box office opens and wish upon a star that they release more tickets, or hopefully, another concert-goer has an extra ticket to sell at face-value or even giveaway for free. Trust, this happens more often than not! We’ve given away many tickets to sold-out shows simply because our +1 couldn’t make it.

Also, more standard tickets are often released via Ticketmaster 1-3 days leading up to the show date. We’ve seen it with Beyonce , Taylor Swift , Arctic Monkeys and many more! It’s a secret gatekeeped by many, but if you’re reading this, now you know! So be sure to set your calendar notifications!

An email sent out to ticketholders yesterday, june 21, informed them that the four shows in september would no longer be taking place..

Gorillaz have cancelled their Getaway Tour , Stereogum reports . The four dates in Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston were set to feature KAYTRANADA , Lil Yachty , and Remi Wolf , capping off the tour behind their new album Cracker Island . Ticketholders were informed of this in an email that was sent out yesterday.

“Due to scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond our control, the previously announced Gorillaz shows in September have been canceled,” the email reads. “Refunds will be issued automatically at your point of purchase and will be processed as quickly as possible, there is nothing further for you to do at this time.”

The message also includes a statement from Gorillaz themselves: “We are gutted not to be able to perform for you this year. We were really looking forward to it and we hope to get back to you again as soon as we can. We love our Gorillaz family and we can’t wait to see you again.”

In first LP, Frances Forever creates galaxies all their own

The “Space Girl” singer brings their new tracks to the Atlantis on Monday.

Frances Forever likes the bubbly synth line featured in their track “Nobody’s Daughter” because it makes them feel like they’re underwater. The song, released last month on the 25-year-old indie pop artist’s debut album, isn’t about drowning as much as it’s about disappearing, like a genderless sea creature in a great expanse of darkness: “Don’t wanna be somebody’s daughter/ I wanna live under the water/ Where no one can call me ‘her.’”

That whimsical escapism connects the songs on “Lockjaw,” despite a range of personal topics — their therapy assignments, severe bouts of romantic pining or, in the case of “Nobody’s Daughter,” their nonbinary identity. The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Frances Garrett, says that their penchant for fantastical getaway plans comes from dissociating and “not feeling quite right” in their body.

“It definitely helps to write about that feeling,” Garrett says on a Zoom call from their Boston home. “It’s almost like a sort of daydream.”

We’re chatting on the day their album drops, so even Garrett’s sadder comments have a triumphant undertone — the 11-song debut had been in the works for three years, and Garrett has spent its first hours of life celebrating with collaborators and watching fans react. The singles they released as a part of the record’s promotion were upbeat and slightly silly, about getting hit on by creepy dudes in a Trader Joe’s or their deep-seated desire to live as a troll under a bridge. “I wanted to hook [fans] with the fun summer bops and then make them feel a little something,” they say, referring to the album’s heavier themes.

It’s a tactic Garrett has long employed, layering lyrical sadness, longing or anxiety over peppy, bedroom pop beats (often literally made in closets and friends’ apartments). That was, for many fans, most apparent on “Space Girl,” the pandemic-era earworm that launched Garrett into the cosmos of TikTok stardom and came with its own cute dance trend .

Though they say they can’t listen to the song anymore, it did help them gain almost half a million TikTok followers . For Garrett, that visibility comes with drawbacks, like vitriol from transphobic commenters.

“It’s very weird to be perceived by so many people online,” they say. “It’s nice to sort of think about yourself in the context of how big the world is, like climbing a mountain and just feeling so small. It’s beautiful to have that contextually in my brain, because I’m always writing songs about myself and what I feel internally. It can feel very self-obsessed sometimes.”

With “Lockjaw,” they’ve channeled that attitude into fantasies that feel both playful and hollowing; on album closer “Jupiter,” they sing: “Float up to space/ Taking Jupiter’s place/ Touch down, escape/ Disappear in the haze.” But since cosmic journeys are out of their reach (for now), they’re settling for a tour — their first string of headlining shows began this week.

They’re excited, they say, to bring their new sound to audiences across the United States; in this first full-length album, Garrett veered from the DIY pop that defined their early works in favor of raging guitar breaks and a full band sound, complete, on a few tracks, with strings.

“Because ‘Space Girl’ got big during covid, I didn’t really think about what a live show would be like,” they say. “When I started touring, I was like, ‘I wish I had a song with a giant guitar solo, or a song that people could jump up and down to and sing this one phrase over and over.’ I tried to add those little bits in the album specifically for the live show, because touring is kind of, like, the reason to make music.”
