The Weeknd Reveals Replacement Acts For His 'After Hours Til Dawn' Tour

By Tony M. Centeno

June 30, 2022

The Weeknd

The Weeknd has revealed the opening acts for his upcoming stadium tour after Doja Cat decided to pull out of the 19-show run following tonsil surgery. According to a report Variety published on Thursday, June 30, the singer born Abel Tesfaye will bring R&B singer Snoh Aalegra , Canadian artist Kaytranada and seasoned producer Mike Dean as supporting acts as he travels throughout North America and Canada. The tour was originally set to begin in 2020 following the release of his After Hours album. Once the pandemic hit, he was forced to push back the tour. However, due to the success of After Hours and his latest LP Dawn FM , The Weeknd decided to scrap the original idea for a massive stadium tour based on both albums.

🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔 pic.twitter.com/obhqtnOCrI — The Weeknd (@theweeknd) June 23, 2022

“Abel has reached global stardom — stadium status,” Tesfaye's longtime creative director La Mar Taylor told Variety. “so it’s the most natural progression for him to follow: The ideas and sonics were made for venues of this size. Maybe five percent of our original After Hours production still remains for this tour. We really went back to the drawing board when we made the decision to switch from arenas to stadiums.” The tour is now known as “After Hours til Dawn” and is actually inspired by The Weeknd's massive Super Bowl LV Halftime Show performance . The Canadian singer's shows have always been uniquely artistic but his team said that the tour will be an expanded version of his unforgettable Super Bowl set. “The entire show is conceptual,” Taylor added. “There is a linear story between After Hours and Dawn FM , and I think the audience will walk away with different interpretations of the show. To us, that’s the whole point.”

The Weeknd has announced the second leg of his headline After Hours Til Dawn tour, with 2023 UK and European dates including London , Manchester and Dublin.

The Blinding Lights hitmaker will be lighting up the London Stadium, Eithad Stadium and Marlay Park respectively, and the singer will be supported by acts including Grammy award winner Kaytranda and Mike Dean as part of the tour.

The North American first leg has already broken attendance records and grossed over $130 million (£107 million) to date, while raising $5 million (£4.1 million) for the XO Humanitarian Fund.

The tour is in support of The Weeknd’s After Hours album released in 2020 and his Dawn FM album released this year, with the original After Hours dates pushed back multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After Hours had a hugely successful run in the UK Albums chart, peaking at number one, and producing top 10 singles Heartless and Save Your Tears, as well global number one hit Blinding Lights, which ranks as the sixth most streamed song of all time in the UK.

His Dawn FM album, which also features on the tour, hit number one in the UK following its release earlier in the year.

The Weeknd at Etihad Stadium — stage times, support acts, setlist and more

It's been bouncing at the Etihad the past few weeks and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon!

Danny Jones

It is an absolutely massive few days of music here in Manchester and although while plenty will be focused on the arrival of Parklife, there’s another big name arriving at the Etihad this Weeknd.

See what we did there?…

That’s right, Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. The Weeknd is one of many amazing incredible acts set to perform this Saturday, following Coldplay last week by taking the stage at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

With The Courteeners kicking off the Heaton Park party vibes on Friday before the Parklife festivities get into full swing, you obviously can’t cram absolutely everyone onto one big field, so for those of you that are going along, here’s everything you need to know.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Abel Tesfaye (@theweeknd)

Are there any tickets left for The Weeknd’s Manchester gig?

We’ve got some bad news for you, tickets to see The Weeknd at the Etihad sold out a while ago — we’re talking seated, standing, hospitality, the lot.

He is one of the biggest pop and R&B artists on the planet, so not that much of a surprise, to be fair.

You can obviously always keep your eye out on resellers like TicketSwap and Twickets for any spares that might go up but, as always, we advise caution when purchasing second-hand tickets from anyone and to steer well clear of ticket touts.

Who are The Weeknd’s support acts?

As for those of you who have managed to bag a ticket, you’re in for an absolute treat as not only will you be seeing The Weeknd but his support acts are absolutely dynamite.

As well as prolific producer Mike Dean (not the one that’s usually at the Etihad) as the first support, who has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Travis Scott, Drake and countless other big names — The Weeknd included, obviously — you will also get to see global DJ and electronic sensation Kaytranada before the main event.

Madness, right? For anyone still sleeping on Kaytra (there can’t be many of you left in the world), the fellow Canadian is arguably one of the best live acts going at the minute, selling out stadiums all across the world, headlining Coachella and costing a fair few quid to see alone.

It’s not hard to see why:

The Weeknd ‘After Hours til Dawn’ setlist

Now, when it comes to setlists, given that artists like switch things up from show to show all the time, we can only ever really give you predictions.

However, according to Setlist.fm and his last show in Passeio Marítimo de Algés, Portugal, he is what you very well be hearing come Saturday night.

We’ll warn you now, it’s an absolute whopper of a line-up.

  • Take My Breath
  • Sacrifice (Swedish House Mafia remix)
  • How Do I Make You Love Me?
  • Can’t Feel My Face
  • Lost in the Fire
  • House of Balloons
  • Party Monster
  • After Hours
  • Out of Time
  • I Feel It Coming
  • Die for You
  • Is There Someone Else?
  • I Was Never There
  • Wicked Games
  • Call Out My Name
  • The Morning
  • Save Your Tears
  • Less Than Zero
  • Blinding Lights
  • Double Fantasy
  • Creepin’ (Metro Boomin cover)

What a show this is going to be.

Stage times

The Weeknd support acts Manchester

Speaking of the lineup, in case you’re wondering when you can expect each of them to rock up to the Etihad stage, doors are set to open at 4pm and with Manchester set for yet another gorgeous day, you can spend hours enjoying tunes in the heat before the sun even goes down. Wonderful stuff.

While the exact times of each act are yet to be fully announced, the live entertainment is set to start around 7pm, with The Weeknd expected to take the stage around 9pm.

With a setlist this long, who knows how long he tends to go on for, but we’d ballpark that the show will finish around 11pm.

How to get to the Etihad Stadium

Last but not least, getting to the Eithad should be a doddle regardless of how you’re getting there. If you’re choosing public transport, the Metrolink is the most direct route, with a tram stop right outside the ground and just a few stops away from Manchester Piccadilly.

Both Holt Town and Velopark Metrolink stops, located on either side of the Etihad Campus stop, will not be open for at least an hour after an event at the stadium and they’ll obviously be very busy, so just make sure plan accordingly.

The trams will be very busy though, and since the weather looks so nice again, so you might prefer to walk; if so, it’s only around a 30-minute stroll from town with  this safe walking route  recommended.

If you need to drive in, official car parking is priced at £25 for cars, £50 for coaches and £40 for minibuses. There are of course other unofficial car parks and drop-off points nearby too, so just make sure you’re not getting ripped off.

  • The Manc Audio to take over the DJ decks at the iconic Night & Day this summer
  • Courteeners at Heaton Park – setlist, support, stage times and tickets

We repeat again, this weekend in Manchester is going to be absolutely MASSIVE and we can’t wait.

Whether you’re doing The Courteeners, The Weeknd, Parklife or any of the countless other gigs going on around town, we hope you have a sick time.

God, we love summer.

Global pop megastar Billie Eilish will perform FOUR massive gigs here in Manchester next year.

The star has announced the show as part of the Hit Me Hard And Soft tour, which spans more than 80 dates across the globe.

Billie last performed in Manchester in 2022, when she brought her Happier Than Ever tour to the AO Arena.

This time, she’s picked the city’s new Co-op Live arena, where she’s lined up four nights – and tickets go on sale later this week .

The tour announcement comes ahead of the release of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which is pencilled for release on 17 May.

Billie Eilish and her co-writer and producer brother Finneas have earned dozens of awards for their music since she burst onto the scene with Ocean Eyes in 2016.

Among those awards are nine Grammys, three Brit Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and even a couple of Oscars (for her songs on James Bond’s No Time to Die, and then the Barbie soundtrack).

Billie announced her latest huge tour this afternoon, which includes dates across the USA, Europe, and Australia.

This is the third huge act to be announced at Co-op Live today alone, which has also added Janet Jackson and Craig David to its bill of events.

The 23,500-capacity venue is set to officially open to the public on 1 May after a few delays, with both Peter Kay and the Black Keys rescheduled to later dates.

Billie Eilish will perform at Co-op Live in Manchester on 19, 20, 22, and 23 July 2025.

Tickets will go on general sale on 3 May 2024 at 12pm through See Tickets here .

Co-op Members can have early access to tickets from midday on 30 April 2024.

Craig David Manchester gig tickets Co-op Live

UK R&B, garage and pop legend Craig David is heading back out on tour next year as has revealed the soon-to-open Co-op Live Arena as the location for his Manchester date.

The ‘7 Days’, ‘Fill Me In’ and ‘DNA’ singer has been well and truly on the comeback over the past few years and as one of the biggest British chart-toppers of the noughties, we are loving having Craig David back smashing the live music circuit.

Announcing his latest ‘Commitment’ tour in early 2025, the 42-year-old becomes the latest name to join the long list of people queuing up to play Manchester’s newest and biggest indoor venue, Co-op Live .

The ground-breaking arena has suffered some pretty public setbacks over the last week or so, with Peter Kay’s double bill and The Black Keys having to be pushed back due to the venue not being quite ready, but it hasn’t stopped more acts from booking shows there.

Set to kick off a run of just under a dozen initial domestic shows in Leeds before heading to Manchester on Friday, 14 February and closing out the schedule at the O2 in London on 20 February, it’s sure to be a popular tour.

Better still, he’s bringing an equally nostalgic name along with him for the ride as fellow 2000s hit-maker Lemar has been confirmed as his special guest and main support act.

Lemar played a pair of 20th anniversary shows here in Manchester city centre in April 2023 and is also joining boyband JLS on their ‘Summer Hits’ tour this July – including a special gig at Barton Airport .

We’re loving all these throwbacks.

The Weeknd Just Announced A Must-See Tour With Doja Cat

I need a “You Right” live duet, please.

This summer, The Weeknd will be embarking on his first tour in nearly four years. He’s doing so to support his two most recent albums, 2020’s After Hours and this year’s Dawn FM . On March 3, the “ Take My Breath ” singer made the exciting announcement by sharing a poster for his After Hours Til Dawn tour on Instagram.

The poster revealed he’ll be performing in stadiums (yes, stadiums!) across North America starting in July. He’ll first kick off his concerts in Canada before heading to the United States, and the best part is Doja Cat will join him as a special guest.

The Weeknd was initially supposed to embark on an arena tour in June of 2020 ; however, due to lockdown restrictions, he was forced to postpone it a year . Then, in February of 2021, he postponed it again to January of 2022. In October, he postponed the tour a third time to this summer. In his Instagram post last fall announcing the postponement, The Weeknd promised fans he would be planning “something bigger” and hinted at stadium shows.

Now, The Weeknd has finally confirmed he’s getting ready to embark on one of his biggest tours yet, and his friend and collaborator Doja Cat will be his special guest. To make sure you don’t miss your chance to see the stars live in concert this summer, here’s everything you need to know about The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour.

When will The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour begin?

The Weeknd will begin his tour in his hometown of Toronto, Canada, on Saturday, July 8. His first show as part of his stadium tour will be at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Which cities will The Weeknd visit on his After Hours Til Dawn Tour ?

The North American leg of The Weeknd’s tour will see him perform in 18 cities, including Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and several more.

View on Instagram

According to Billboard , additional dates will be announced sometime in the future for international tour stops on every continent, except Antarctica.

When do tickets go on sale for The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour ?

Tickets for The Weeknd’s tour will go on sale on March 10. Fans can purchase tickets through Ticketmaster.

Who will join The Weeknd on his After Hours Til Dawn Tour ?

Doja Cat, who collaborated with The Weeknd on her 2021 song “You Right,” will be a special guest on his tour.

The Weeknd definitely wasn’t lying when he said he was planning a big surprise. Now, can we get him to perform in Antarctica next? That’d be an even bigger shock.

The Weeknd tour

It’s difficult to imagine that an intensely theatrical performer like the Weeknd — whose videos, concerts, 2021 Super Bowl Halftime performance and lyrics are loaded with vibrant, at times disturbing imagery — would launch his first-ever stadium tour without spectacle.

And thankfully, after several  incidents of unwanted drama — including two Covid-related delays, the postponement of the tour’s intended opening date in Toronto last weekend due to a Canada-wide wireless outage, and original opening act Doja Cat dropping out due to tonsil surgery — for the belated first night of his “After Hours Til Dawn” tour in Philadelphia, the theatrics were all onstage.

The concert took place on a humid July night in Philadelphia, which had a temperature of 87 degrees as the show opened with sets from producer-artist Mike Dean and Canadian electronic act Kaytranada, but it had cooled down by the time the Weeknd’s headlining set began at around 9 p.m. The Weeknd’s best music traffics in mood, nuance and a mixture of ecstasy and darkness, and that carried over onto a sprawling, technically complex stage, which broadly resembles a towering, crumbling cityscape and spanned much of the Lincoln Financial Field’s grounds. For the two-hour set, the singer, decked as usual in black, was accompanied by a gang of sheathed dancers  — and a crowd of nearly 70,000 people, many of whom were devotees in red jackets and bandaged noses, in emulation of his “After Hours” look .

Popular on Variety

Rising onto the set’s centerpiece with his shrouded dancers below, the Weeknd emerged wearing a clear face mask and a car-length coat, easing into an oscillating, electro take on the “After Hours” opener “Alone Again” with a clear, warm voice that conveyed both despondence and a world-weary ennui.

Dropping down to stage level, he followed his dancers into a new-wave-inflected take on “Gasoline,” picking up the pace and dancing, holding out his arms to the audience even as the lyrics held them at bay.

The set that followed was heavy on his two most recent albums, this year’s “Dawn FM” and 2020’s “After Hours,” with his earlier hits dropped in strategically to keep the crowd hyped — although the arrangements of many of the songs were revamped. His angelic voice soared through the Swedish House Mafia remix version of “Sacrifice,” a disco-fied “How Do I Make You Love Me?” and a jittery version of “Can’t Feel My Face” that featured a break reminiscent of vintage New Order. Those three tracks, performed as a medley, turned the venue into an apocalyptic dance party, with the Weeknd as its jovial, devilish host.

Although musicians were not visible on the sprawling stage, they certainly made their presence heard: Mangled guitars and wheezing church organs dominated his recent hit “Take My Breath” and “Hurricane,” followed by the sultry “Often.”

He brought the energy level down with spacey takes on “Starboy” and “Heartless,” with cobalt-blue lighting adding to the cool atmosphere; the ambient R&B songs acted as a cooling agent to the heated emotions and red hues of the night’s first half.

That mood continued through the evening’s more ruminative second half as the Weeknd moved gently but no less theatrically through the ‘90s-Motown vibes of “Out of Time,” a celestial “Less Than Zero” and a cinematic “Save Your Tears.” Through these songs, which were filled with bluesy guitar licks and soulful synths, he brought down his voice an octave, adding to the lovelorn emotions of the lyrics.

Of course, the two-hour show wound to a close with the biggest of his many hits, the ‘80s inflected global smash “Blinding Lights,” a song that in many ways summed up the contrasts of the show, the music and the performer: an avant-garde superstar, an aloof lover man, a combination of beauty and madness, all contained in a concert that somehow felt intimate in a football stadium with nearly 70,000 fellow devotees.

He's one of the world's biggest music stars right now, and The Weeknd is about to bring his spectacular new stadium tour to Manchester . Heading here, fittingly, at the weekend, he will undoubtedly bring the party on what is set to be a scorching Saturday at the Etihad Stadium .

Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd - real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye - heads to the UK on his ongoing After Hours Til Dawn global stadium tour. The American leg of the tour broke records for the numbers of tickets sold.

But then The Weeknd is accustomed to being a record-breaker - according to the Guinness Book of World Records, he is officially the most popular music act on the planet right now. They crunched the stats to proclaim that "no one comes close" to the star in terms of the number of monthly listens on Spotify that rank in the tens of millions.

The tour celebrates The Weeknd’s 2020 album After Hours (its hit single Blinding Lights was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit The Twist), as well as his critically-acclaimed album Dawn FM, which was released January 2022.

So what can fans expect from the show? Well images seen from earlier tour dates promise something nothing short of spectacular - including incredible staging with huge robots and even the world making an appearance.

Here's more info on what to expect if you're one of the 60,000 fans heading along to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Who are the support acts?

the weeknd after hours tour support act

The Weeknd will be supported in Manchester by Kaytranada and Mike Dean.

Haitian-Canadian DJ and producer Kaytranda is known for his electronic dance music that draws from a wide variety of musical styles.

Meanwhile long-term collaborator, American music producer Mike Dean, has also been listed to join The Weeknd on this tour.

What are the stage times?

Doors open at the Etihad Stadium at 4.00pm, with the live entertainment set to start by 7pm. Official stage times have not yet been given by organisers of the show for the support acts, but will be updated here when they do.

Stage times are always subject to change so the advice is always to get to the stadium early to get through the security checks. For guidance, at the other dates on his tour so far, The Weeknd has taken to the stage at 9pm.

Naturally, setlists are always liable to change each night on an artist's tour. But here's the songs that The Weeknd performed at the most recent gigs of the After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour - in Lisbon, Portugal, on June 6.

How to get there

The Etihad is located a mile and a half east of the city centre and is easy to get to using public transport.

The nearest mainline train station is Manchester Piccadilly. From there, you can catch a tram to the Etihad Campus Metrolink stop (which is right outside the stadium), take a taxi from outside the Store Street exit, or walk (around 30 to 40 minutes).

You can also catch a tram directly from any of the following city centre stops: Deansgate-Castlefield, St Peter's Square, Piccadilly Gardens or Piccadilly Station. Take the Ashton-under-lyne or Etihad Campus lines.

The Metrolink network is very busy on concert nights so allow plenty of time for travel.

Take a look at our full guide to concerts at the Etihad stadium for more detailed information on public transport, driving directions and parking.

Is there food and drink at the stadium?

the weeknd after hours tour support act

There's a whole raft of food and drink options both outside the Etihad Stadium and also once inside the concert. Expect burgers and chips, burritos, hotdogs, chill nachos and Manchester's famous Norther Soul grilled cheese sandwiches.

There are food vans specifically catering for vegeterians, vegans. There's also a range of soft drinks and alcoholic drinks to buy both in and outside of the stadium.

You won't be allowed to take food inside with you though, so be aware if you buy food around the ground you'll need to eat it all up before you head to your seats.

Is there parking at the stadium?

There is car parking at the stadium, but this is limited and must be pre-booked here . It is highly recommended however to use public transport to the stadium. There are a number of pay-for car parks in the city centre that can be used close to tram stops at Piccadilly, Manchester Central and Oxford Street and then take the tram to the Etihad Campus.

If you're parking around the stadium, a road closure operates immediately after the event to allow pedestrians to leave the Etihad Stadium safely. This is in place for approximately 20 minutes after the end of the show. This is, however, subject to GMP approval and may be in place for longer than stated above. Roads affected by the closure are as follows:

Ashton New Road – between Alan Turing Way and Darley Street

Grey Mare Lane – between Ashton New Road and Alan Turing Way

Merrill Street – between Pollard Street and Ashton New Road

Walking map

It's around a 30 to 40 minute walk from Piccadilly Train Station all the way to the Etihad Stadium and is actually a fairly straightforward route that lots of other fans will be walking on the night.

Here's a map of the route.

The Weeknd is only a week away from kicking off the highly-anticipated After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour, set to join the worlds of his record-breaking releases After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). The singer was initially meant to be joined by Doja Cat, but the “Kiss Me More” singer was forced to pull out of the opening slot to undergo tonsil surgery. After weeks of speculation about her replacement act, it has been revealed that The Weeknd will receive support from Kaytranada , Snoh Aalegra, and Mike Dean on select dates.

Mike Dean will join for all 19 dates of the North American tour. Meanwhile, Kaytranada will serve as opener for 15 shows, including stops in Los Angeles, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Miami, and more. Snoh Aalegra will perform in Atlanta, Arlington, Seattle, and San Francisco.

“Maybe five percent of our original ‘After Hours’ production still remains for this tour,” The Weeknd’s creative director La Mar Taylor told Variety . “We really went back to the drawing board when we made the decision to switch from arenas to stadiums.”

The original After Hours tour was initially scheduled for arenas before the trek was scrapped in favor of larger stages. If there were any skeptics questioning the switch, The Weeknd’s unforgettable headlining performance at the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime show is proof enough that he’ll be able to pull off a grand scale show night after night on his own tour.

“We definitely took inspiration from the Super Bowl performance — and expanded it,” Taylor added. “There were so many restrictions and constraints around that performance that we could not fully realize the vision we had for it. Now we can.”

The After Hours Til Dawn tour is scheduled to begin on July 8 with a hometown show when The Weeknd takes the stage at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. The North American leg will last through the summer, concluding with two shows at the SoFi Stadium on September 2 and 3. Ticket information can be found on the official The Weeknd website.

The Weeknd onstage for tour dates post

After a number of pandemic-spurred delays, fans were given an official announcement of new tour dates from The Weeknd on Thursday.

The After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour will begin in July at the Rogers Centre in Toronto before its routing takes the After Hours and Dawn FM -commemorating experience to Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. Serving as special guest on the tour is Doja Cat , who last year linked with Abel for “You Right” off Planet Her .

See the official tour flyer (with dates) below. Ticket sales for the North American dates launch wide on March 10 at 10 a.m. local time via the official Weeknd site. As for fans who previously had tickets to the prior After Hours arena tour, you’ll be given access to a special presale launching this Friday.

Coinciding with the new tour is the XO Humanitarian Fund. As detailed in a press release Thursday, Abel has partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and is putting $1 from each ticket sold in North America into the fund. Additionally, Weeknd is making a $500,000 donation.

“The goal with this fund is to provide immediate life-saving support to people who are on the brink of starvation,” Abel said. “I’m so thankful to have WFP as a partner and to further expand our reach to those who need it most.”

In addition to Abel’s initial $500,000 donation to the fund and the ticket portions, World Food Program USA’s Board of Directors and donors are contributing $1 million.

“We are grateful that The Weeknd is on this journey with us to fight global hunger,” Barron Segar, president and CEO of World Food Program USA, said Thursday. “We cannot allow millions of children, women and men to starve when we have the food and expertise to save them.”

Hinted at in the tour’s press materials is that fans can expect the jaunt to further expand on the worlds Abel crafted with his most recent albums. This type of world-building from the star of the upcoming The Idol series was most recently on display with the Amazon Original The Dawn FM Experience, which debuted on Prime Video last month. As Abel himself previously teased, fans are indeed in the middle of a new trilogy .

The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard . “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist . All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September , boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19 , the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.

The Weeknd has cancelled his After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour of Australia

Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd kneels on a stadium stage in an all white outfit white singing into a microphone

  • X (formerly Twitter)

Update 23/04/2024 :  The Weeknd  has cancelled the Australian and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn  tour.

In an email sent out to ticketholders from Ticketek , full refunds will be made to everyone while the company continues to "work through the rescheduling process with the artist".

Although the tour is still very up in the air, Ticketek encouraged fans to sing up to a waitlist to get access to a priority pre-sale when tickets go  back  on sale. It's not clear when - or if - this will happen.

Update 3/11/2023  - The Weeknd has postponed the Australia and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour due to "unforeseen circumstances".

In a statement released on Friday afternoon (Nov 3), The Weeknd shared that the tour will be rescheduled for 2024, with confirmed dates to come.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour," he said.

"New dates will be announced next year and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can't wait to be there with you!"

A spokesperson from the tour's promoter Live Nation said the company is "focused on working with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule".

The After Hours Til Dawn tour was set to kick off in Brisbane on November 20, and take in several dates down the east coast.

Those with tickets will be contacted with the new dates when they're locked in, and if you can't make it you can get a refund from where you bought your tickets.

Original story:  It's been a long six years but The Weeknd is finally coming back down under for some frankly monstrous shows at the tail end of the year.

If you've been following along on TikTok and Instagram, you'll have seen the enormous productions Abel Tesfaye has been putting on for his After Hours Til Dawn stadium world tour. It's a real spectacle, and now that energy is coming down under for a run of big performances in November and December.

The stadium run has been totally sold out to date, breaking records all over the place and with 1.6million fans filling huge venues right across Europe. It's got everything – flames, a massive catwalk stage, a huge moon, a big chrome femme figure, an MF Doom -inspired mask. The visuals are truly next level.

And the crowd work, well, that really speaks for itself.

The Weeknd is taking over multiple stadiums in Australia with this mammoth tour. He'll be smashing into Meanjin/Brisbane on November 20 before heading down to Gadigal Land/Sydney on November 24 and then rounding it out in Naarm/Melbourne on December 1.

Update:  Huge news for everyone who's desperate to get to these stadium shows, The Weeknd has locked in extra dates in all three cities!

Update 11/09/2023:  In exciting news for Naarm fans, The Weeknd has locked in a fourth show at Marvel Stadium, bumping out his huge Aussie run to nine dates.

He'll now be sticking around for an extra appearance on Tuesday 5 December, heating things up at the start of summer.

Tickets for the new show are on sale from 2pm local time on Wednesday 13 September, and you can find out more over on the tour website . Get your group chat sorted right now because these tickets are going to go fast.

Check out the important dates and details below.

The Weeknd's Australia and New Zealand tour officially cancelled after it was postponed due to 'unforeseen circumstances'

By Bronte Gossling | 7 days ago

The Weeknd 's Australian and New Zealand leg of his After Hours Til Dawn tour has officially been cancelled.

The news comes months after the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye , announced the tour would be postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances" in November , weeks before he was initially set to take the stage.

In an email sent out to ticketholders today by Ticketek, the ticketing company said full refunds would be issued to everyone as the company continues to "work through the rescheduling process with the artist".

"Tickets will be automatically refunded in full (including refundable ticket purchases, if applicable) to the original payment method used for purchase and patrons do not need to take any action," a statement on Ticketek's website reads.

"Patrons should allow approximately 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account."

It means that anyone who held tickets to the sold-out shows would have to go through the ticket sale process again should The Weeknd decide to come to Australia in future.

Breaking: The Weeknd has cancelled his Australian tour

After postponing due to “unforeseen circumstances”, the Starboy has officially scrapped all of his sold-out shows

Leah Glynn

Nooo! After months of confusion following the announcement in November last year that the Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour was postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances”, it has just been revealed that the entire run of sold-out Aussie gigs have been cancelled.

The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) had been scheduled to play four epic shows at Marvel Stadium on December 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2023, with performances also confirmed in both Sydney and Brisbane. None of these will go ahead now, with Ticketek confirming that full refunds will be issued to all ticketholders

“Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” reads a statement on the ticketing company’s website.

It’s expected that refunds will take approximately 30 days to appear in the accounts of ticketholders. And if the Weeknd does indeed decide to head Down Under again (c’mon, we gotta hold out hope), those people will be able to access a priority pre-sale purchase window for new tickets. If sitting in that stressful Ticketek waiting room is something you’d do all over again just to see the Starboy in real life, there’s a waitlist you can join here .

There’s been no word from the Weeknd himself regarding the Aussie cancellations, and he didn’t publicly comment on the initial postponement – so we’re not holding out hope for statement (or apology!).

All those tears you were saving for another day? Yep, it’s time to shed ‘em. We’ll keep you updated with new info as it comes in.
