The game is still in early access, and the story is taking a bit of a backseat for now. You can't unblock the road, you'll just have to wait for the next update. As for the soldier, they're just guarding an unfinished area. A very important job, as you can see. I'm sorry I couldn't really help, but I hope you still have fun with the game.
Dude in the ice. I noticed in the north area there's this dude in ice and a bunch of miners sad about it, can we do something about it? At first I thought it was something like the bird man that only shows up a certain day at a certain time, but maybe it just hasn't been implemented yet?

Quests are basic tasks you can complete to gain additional rewards: Reputation, furniture, etc. They are accessed by pressing the H key or by navigating to the Quests tab in the inventory menu. After the farming quest is complete, quests will be replaced by Orders that appear as you take them from the Notice Board, and will disappear as they are fulfilled. Temperature is a measure of how warm your tavern is. The temperature level is either cold, chilly, perfect, warm, or hot. When the temperature level is hot or cold , you get less reputation from customers. During the day, the temperature is usually perfect. Hello, innkeepers! The new update for Travellers is now available! It includes a revamp of the crop-growing system, a new way to unlock recipes, weather phenomena and a great deal of new content. New crop system Now crops have specific seasons in which they can be planted. In addition, they need to be watered every 3 days for them to grow. The amount of time each crop takes to grow varies.

As for knowing about future updates, I'm in the Travellers Rest discord server and I'm a beta tester for the game. I try not to reveal too much when a beta is in progress, but being a tester does help me know what's coming up in the future so I can let people in on a certain amount of stuff, as long as I'm vague about it.

Same for some of the other ingredients like beschamel. Breadcrumbs and Minced Meat are made at the Grinder. If you need a crafted ingredient for a new recipe, you should get the recipe for it at the same time you get the recipe that needs it. Breadcrumbs and minced meat require the grinder!
