Yarra Valley Wine Tours from Melbourne Reviews

1. yarra valley gourmet small-group ecotour from melbourne.

  • Duration:  8 hours
  • Departure:  Hotel pickup and drop-off included
  • Departure Time: 8:00 AM
  • Includes:  All tastings, Lunch, Friendly & Informative Tour Guide, WiFi on board, Air-conditioned vehicle

While Melbourne is certainly a city you need to visit, I understand that sometimes it’s nice to escape the hustle and bustle and into the fresh air of nature.

With the Yarra Valley Gourmet Small-Group Ecotour from Melbourne , you’ll not only have time to free your mind but to learn about some of the best wines the country has to offer.

With fun and experienced guides alongside experts right from the vineyards themselves, you’re going to be the new wine expert in your friend group!

Our tour started off with a convenient hotel pickup around 8:00 am, which made things much smoother for our day without having to worry about taxis and extra costs. With our small group size, we didn’t feel like we were just part of a crowd – it felt more like we were all friends going on an adventure together.

The air-conditioned coach we cruised along in was perfect for the number of people we had, complete with wi-fi on board to stay connected throughout the tour!

The road trip itself was very pleasant, with beautiful natural scenery to enjoy as our guide offered an educational, entertaining commentary along the way!

Expand To See More See Less

Our first stop was at the renowned Balgownie Estate Yarra Valley, set in beautiful rolling wills, as well as chardonnay and pinot noir (hot tip: come back for a romantic evening in their hotel and try their 1309 restaurant!

We then visited the Coldstream Dairy to try a wide selection of cheeses before learning all about how to make (and sample) gin at Four Pillars Gin Distillery!

After all that work, we took a well-deserved break at the Rochford Wines Yarra Valley to try some wine, as well as enjoy a delicious 4-course lunch with plenty of tea and coffee!

Last but not least was admittedly one of my favorite stops: the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, where we tried 8 different chocolate varieties. Overall, it was the perfect way to gain insight into the amazing food and drink offered in this beautiful Australian region!

More Information & Tour Booking

100% refund for cancellations within 24 hours of tour experience, 2. yarra valley full day private wine tour.

  • Duration:  7 to 8 hours
  • Departure Time: 10:30 AM
  • Includes:  Lunch, Private transportation, Alcoholic Beverages, GST (Goods and Services Tax)

What I love about this tour, is that it takes you to some of the best places in this Australian wine country, while still offering an exclusive, flexible way to experience it. There’s no cookie-cutter, boring tour that seems to be as if it was copied and pasted right from something from a generic Google search.

The Yarra Valley Full Day Private Wine Tour is an excursion that will take you and your party out to some of the best wineries in the world, with a guide there to lead the way.

This tour starts out a bit later, which was nice as we’d stayed out pretty late the night before and appreciated the chance to get to sleep in!

As our guide came right to our hotel to pick us and the rest of our private party up, we just had to head down to the lobby to meet them. I found this tour to be one of the most well-organized, seamless experiences I’ve ever been on, making it that much more enjoyable!

Our transportation for the day was a bus that fit all of us nicely, with plenty of legroom, big windows for viewing the rolling hills and pretty townships, as well as comfy seats.

As we rolled along, our guide told us all about the history of the region, with more specific info about the area’s wine. As this is a customized tour, I can’t say that you’re going to make the exact same stops as we did, but I’m sure it’ll be just as amazing for you.

All of the wine tastings and food are included, and we went to wineries based on our specific interests and the recommendations of our expert guide!

I loved the fact that we got to choose how long we spent at each stop, so there was never any boredom or feeling like we were missing out. This is a wonderful tour that I’d recommend to anyone!

3. Yarra Valley Wine and Winery Tour from Melbourne

  • Departure Time: 9:15 AM
  • Includes:  Pickup and drop-off from designated meeting points, Transport by air-conditioned minibus, Wine tastings at four Yarra Valley wineries, Lunch at Balgownie Estate or equivalent, Glass of wine and tea or coffee with lunch

This next tour does a fantastic job of encapsulating the spirit of this beautiful, renowned region filled with lush vineyards, top-notch wines, and gourmet delights.

The Yarra Valley Wine and Winery Tour from Melbourne  is perfect if you’re new to wine or want to learn about the different types and how to properly taste the tasty drinks. Even if you’re well-versed in the world of wine, I guarantee you’ll learn some valuable tips and tricks here, like I did!

Just like most others in this guide, this excursion also includes a convenient hotel pickup and drop-off service so you don’t have to deal with figuring it out yourself.

Our guide/bus driver for the day was simply amazing, with a deep knowledge of wine and great driving skills. The minibus was also very comfortable and well-maintained, with air-conditioning that is absolutely essential during the hotter months!

Now, this isn’t a private tour, but the groups on this one are very small, so it’s a great way to meet other travelers from around the world while still feeling the exclusivity you’d get from a private one.

Even before arriving at our first stop (Greenstone Vineyards), our guide had already taught us all about the different varietals produced in the Yarra Valley.

At the vineyard, we did a delicious tasting while overlooking the breathtaking estate before heading to Balgownie Estate.

At Balgownie, we did another great tasting table, sampling shiraz and cabernet sauvignon before enjoying a savory lunch at their winery restaurant paired with a glass of wine.

We couldn’t forget Yering Farm, where we did a cellar door tasting while seeing the copper winemaking tools that were used over a whopping hundred years ago before making our way to the lovely Soumah Wines!

There’s a ton to see and learn on this excursion, and the 8 or so hours just flew by!

4. Melbourne: Yarra Valley Wine, Gin and Chocolate Tour

  • Duration: 8.25 hours
  • Departure: St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne, Flinders St, Melbourne VIC 3000
  • Departure Time: 9:00 AM
  • Includes:  Air-conditioned vehicle, bottled water, alcoholic beverages, driver, wine and gin tastings

Are you looking for one of the best Yarra Valley winery tour but want to stick to something more budget-friendly?

If so, there’s no better option than the Melbourne: Yarra Valley Wine, Gin and Chocolate Tour ! It’s a great opportunity to meet some other travelers from around the world, while still enjoying a relatively small group and plenty of attention from a professional guide.

The thing that really sets this tour apart from the rest, is that it’s not just about wine – it’s a deep dive into local culinary culture! This is the only tour that does not include a hotel pickup, which wasn’t really a big deal for us.

After all, the meetup point was St. Paul’s Cathedral in central Melbourne, which was really close to our hotel, anyway.

After we arrived, we immediately boarded our Mercedes-Benz coach, which was super new and comfortable, with big windows and climate control (keep in mind if your party is 20+ people, you’ll be in a larger bus).

After taking off, we made a little break for coffee and kept our eyes peeled for kangaroos before arriving to our first winery (depends a bit on the weather and other factors), then on to the gorgeous Soumah.

Soumah is one of my favorite stops, offering 5 different wine tastings as you overlook gorgeous rolling hills. Four Pillars distillery is up next, where we enjoyed a delicious gin flight where we compared each, with tasty mixers to clear our palates.

Alternatively, you can go to Payten & Jones to taste some wine, vermouth, and/or plenty of their international beer selection. We had a break for lunch at the legendary Hubert Estate, which was quintessentially Australian with some European flavor.

After a couple more visits to renowned wineries, we stopped for a cider tasting beside a lambing nursery, a dairy for the best cheese I’ve ever had in my life, and the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery to wrap things up with a delicious dessert.

5. Yarra Valley Grazing Tour with Champagne Brunch at Chandon

  • Duration:  7 hours
  • Includes:  Snacks, Brunch, Lunch, Alcoholic Beverages

I don’t trust anybody who doesn’t love a good brunch – especially when champagne is involved! The Yarra Valley Grazing Tour with Champagne Brunch at Chandon   offers a little bit of everything, providing insight into just how well Australia does food and drink.

If you’re looking for the perfect outing with friends, family, or your significant other, this is the perfect way to escape the city and head out for some fresh air and food!

The tour starts a bit later than most – at 10:30 – when your guide will arrive at your hotel to pick you and your party up and head out to the legendary Yarra Valley!

Our transportation was simple yet comfortable – offering great views while we relaxed and listened to our guide talking about the history, geology, and wine culture surrounding the area.

We made our first stop at the Yarra Valley Dairy to try some incredible cheeses all made on-site, while washing it down with either wine or coffee.

After that, we made our way to the historic Yering Station Winery, which is not only one of the most beautiful I’ve visited – it also offers a wide array of top-notch wines and is known as the state’s first vineyard.

Next up is the world-famous Domaine Chandon, which has actually been one of my favorites for years, so it was pretty cool to get an exclusive look behind-the-scenes here. At Chandon, we enjoyed a tasting of 3 different sparkling wines along with some shared charcuterie boards and other snacks.

After that, we visited the charming Yering Farm where we learned how to make small-batch wines right from the winemakers, enjoying a few glasses and a cider next to their orchard. I am absolutely not a gin fan, but Four Pillars Distillery changed my opinion of it with a couple of theirs, and then visited a local burger joint!

Favoured by Wine Connoisseurs

Yarra Valley is well known for a range of chardonnay styles that are light and elegant with citrusy acidity and stone fruit and fig flavours. Its pinot noir has rich, ripe berry tangs, while its shiraz has either a bold or light savoury flavour. Other varietals include cabernet sauvignon and méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine, which you can sample at our Yarra Valley wine tasting.

Compared to wines from warmer regions, Yarra Valley wines are lighter and more versatile for ageing from ten to 20 years or more. However, it is difficult not to indulge in their subtle flavours and rich finish immediately. Booking a winery tour in the Yarra Valley allows you to enjoy them fresh from the barrel.

Comprehensive Tour Options

The Yarra Valley has over 80 cellar doors, each showcasing its diverse terroir and the passion of its winemakers, from Healesville to Coldstream, Yarra Glen, Seville, and Lilydale. Speak to Gather Yarra Valley about our comprehensive options to tour this wine haven.

Full Itinerary

With just less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne, Yarra Valley has been in the business of producing and delivering world-class wines for over seventeen decades. The region’s proximity to the city makes it a favourite Melbourne wine tour destination.

The wines of Yarra Valley are simply sensational. They’re artistically crafted to deliver a brilliant front-to-back finish on the palate. Understand the mystery and the secret hidden underneath the soil that grows the best vines that produce world-class wines. Australian wine is truly the best in the hemisphere because the fertility gods and cool climate made them so!

Our day starts with an indulgent feast for your senses, at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice-Creamery . Chocoholics rejoice as we stop at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-like wonderland. Sample and take home from over 250 different handcrafted chocolate products, showcasing locally sourced ingredients, the best quality single origin, plus Belgian couverture chocolate and cocoa butter. You will learn about the history of Australian chocolate and understand how cacao beans travel from the jungles of South America and Africa, all the way to your mouth. Watch how chocolate is made and see how it is transformed into all its delightful varieties. Proudly part of the Cocoa Horizons program, you will also hear about the importance of improving the livelihoods of cocoa farmers, their communities and the environment, through sustainable farming.

We’ve added free time in Healesville , for guests to grab lunch and explore the gateway town to the Yarra Valley . This tour has been designed for our guests to be able to see the Yarra Valley through local eyes rather than being shuttled from one winery to another. Whilst in Healesville, we highly recommend exploring the local shops, cafes, and restaurants or you can even pop into Four Pillars Gin Distillery, Matilda Bay Brewery or Alchemy Distillers for a cheeky extra tasting if you fancy (at guest’s own expense).

Updated June 2024.

Our commitment

At Autopia Tours, we actively promote the protection of flora and fauna on our Melbourne Tours. It is our duty to ensure there is minimal disturbance to this World  Heritage Listed region and the species that call it home. Cultural sensitivity and respect for traditional owners should also be shown at all times.

Part of our responsibility is educating guests on minimal impact practices and the importance of ensuring the safety of wildlife and the environmental sustainability of the destinations we visit.

Learn more about EcoTourism: https://www.ecotourism.org.au/

Traditional Owners

Autopia Tours would like to begin by paying our respects to the traditional owners of this country, with specific acknowledgement to the Wurundjeri people. Please be conscious and respectful of the sensitivities of indigenous culture and the spiritual connection they have with the land at all times.

Wildlife Encounters

The natural behaviours of wildlife are to be respected and not interfered with. When viewing wildlife, people should take care to avoid rapid or sudden movements, which could frighten the animal, and should keep noise to a minimum and refrain from touching, petting or feeding all wildlife including birds. Contact with people can introduce diseases to wildlife and can cause them to become aggressive.

Wildlife should not be handled or fed, unless by certified wildlife handlers. Feeding wildlife can alter their natural foraging behaviour and can lead to disease or illness through contact with people and the introduction of foods that are harmful to their digestive system. Feeding wildlife can also cause them to become aggressive toward people.

Wildlife that appears to be in distress, injured or in danger should be reported immediately to the appropriate authority, such as your Guide/Tour Leader, a National Park Ranger or Visitor Centre Staff.

Protecting our National Parks

People should remain on designated walking tracks, behind safety barriers/fences and follow all directions given by the guide/tour leader. Venturing off these can alter fragile ecosystems and can harm wildlife shelters and native vegetation. There are other dangers to be aware of too, such as cliff edges, unstable rock formations, overhanging tree branches and slippery ground cover. Remaining on tracks ensures safe visitation for guests and the environment.

No flora or fauna should be removed from their natural setting. This includes dead wood, fallen leaves, flowers and so forth, as they form part of the ecosystem of the region and their removal could cause a disturbance.

Waste Management

All buses are fitted with waste bins. No organic waste should be disposed of onto the ground. Although organic, items such as banana peels, apple cores, bread and other food scraps, are not natural/native to the region and can introduce pest species, diseases or harm to wildlife if found and eaten. We recommend all passengers bring a water bottle with you on our Grampians Tour. Purchasing bottled water contributes large amounts of plastic into the landfill. Therefore, we ask guests to bring their own bottle, as there is access to water refill stations available on our vehicles. Please ensure you stay hydrated throughout the tour to reduce the risk of sun exposure and dehydration.

All our guides carry a current Level 2 First Aid certificate. Please report any accident or illness to your tour guide. We recommend anyone with an existing medical condition to carry their medication with them on tour and to notify their tour guide at the beginning of the tour.

If you are a smoker! We ask you to refrain from smoking whilst in the company of other passengers and limit it to designated smoking areas. Smoking is not permitted on any of our vehicles, or in any type of accommodation including permanent campsites. We make frequent ‘comfort stops’ to allow free time for guests but cannot guaranteed smoke breaks. Please ensure you dispose of your cigarette butt responsibly and appropriately.

yarra valley wine tasting tours photos

As a seasoned traveler and wine enthusiast, I was thoroughly impressed with the private visit winery day tour of Yarra Valley. The tour offered an exceptional experience, from transportation to guide to wineries visited.

The tour started promptly and efficiently, with a comfortable and air-conditioned bus picking us up from a central location. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided us with interesting facts and history of the region and the wineries we visited.

The wineries visited on the tour were top-notch. Each one offered a unique experience, from champagne tasting at the Domaine Chandon winery to the exquisite lunch featuring local ingredients at De Bortoli winery. The vineyards themselves were simply stunning, with perfectly manicured gardens and beautiful views of the countryside. It was clear that the wine makers put an incredible amount of care and dedication into their craft.

Additionally, the group was small and intimate, which allowed for a more personalized experience. We were able to ask questions and learn more about the wines and wineries. It was evident that Autopia took great care in selecting the private wine and experiences they provided on this tour.

Overall, the Yarra Valley winery tour by Autopia tours was an experience I will never forget. The quality of the wineries, the knowledge of the guide, and the attention to detail created a seamless and well-executed tasting experience tour. I would highly recommend this Melbourne winery tours to anyone looking for an exceptional full day out in the Yarra Valley.

Hubert Estate

The best wineries in the Yarra Valley

Visit these cellar doors in the Yarra Valley, and make sure you buy some wine to take home

Cassidy Knowlton

There's a reason the Yarra Valley is one of the most visited wine regions in the world. It's only an hour from Melbourne, making it the perfect day trip or weekend away. The region specialises in chardonnay and pinot noir grapes, which also happen to make perfect sparkling wine. But if you know where to look, you'll also find less common varietals, like nebbiolo, savagnin and chenin blanc.

There are 160 wineries to try in the region, from tiny mum-and-pop operations to giant foreign-owned behemoths. Don't know where to start? These are our favourite wineries in the Yarra Valley right now. And if you can't find a deso, book yourself in for one of these guided tours .

For more mini-break ideas, visit our guide to Victoria's best getaways . Alternatively, stay close to the city and discover Melbourne's best wine bars .

Been there, done that? Think again, my friend.

Yarra Valley wineries we love

1.  hubert estate.

Hubert Estate

Hubert Estate is the love child of the Ryan Hospitality Group ( The Prince , Mitchelton Winery , Nagambie Brewery & Distillery) and one of the Yarra Valley 's longest-standing producers, St Hubert's. The winery and cellar door is set to become the region's newest must-visit destination, with a complete redesign of St Hubert's existing footprint – transforming the stunning site into a dual-level estate. The reimagining of the venue is thanks to notable architectural and interior design studio, Cera Stribley. Hubert Estate now encompasses a modern Australian and Euro-inspired restaurant (Quarters), Indigenous art gallery ( Hubert Gallery of Art ), event space (Harriett), cellar door, and boutique wine store (Notes).

2.  Innocent Bystander

  • Healesville

Innocent Bystander

Innocent Bystander is conveniently located across the street from fellow Healesville winery Giant Steps . In fact, the two wineries used to be housed under the same roof but since the businesses (amicably) split up in early 2017, Innocent Bystander took over what was once the White Rabbit Brewery. In a nod to its predecessor, Innocent Bystander's stand-alone venue has a beer hall atmosphere, with its prosecco to Syrah served out of temperature-controlled draught taps. Punters can order a carafe or a flight of wines that come in measuring beakers straight out of science class. The food menu is centred around wood-fired pizzas and share dishes made for nibbling while diners sample the moderately-priced wines.

3.  Fin x Cré

  • Yarra Valley

Fin x Cré

In March 2021, the trio behind lo-fi labels Fin Wine and Cré Wine opened a cellar door/eatery in Dixons Creek. Here, you can taste your way through wines, ciders and piquettes made with "minimal faffery"  — also known as lo-fi or minimal intervention beverages.  There’s a tasting area up back, a big wall of wine and a few tables, with much of the seating outside (smart). Opening hours are limited to two weekends a month during the winter months, with more frequent service during the spring.

4.  Helen and Joey Estate

Helen and Joey Estate

There is a large cellar door and tasting room inside Helen and Joey Estate, but if the weather is good, the best seats in the house are outside on the terrace, overlooking the vines and gently rolling hills. If the winery isn't slammed, you might get lucky enough to be able to work your way through the wines on tasting in this spot. If you'd like to nosh as you sip, you can also get snacks and charcuterie, and you can of course buy a bottle or two to enjoy in your primo location – plus a few to take home.

5.  Rob Dolan Wines

  • Warrandyte South

Rob Dolan Wines

The winery uses fruit from all over Victoria to make a cracking range of cool-climate wines, from the entry-level, fruit-forward True Colours range through the White Label, Black Label and premium Signature Series drops. There are the traditional Yarra Valley pinot noir and chardonnay varietals here (including a spectacular malolactic fermentation chardy), as well as gorgeous cabernet sauvignons, which is a varietal with a long history in the Yarra Valley.

6.  Pimpernel Vineyards

Pimpernel Vineyards

Mark and Fiona Horrigan, who run Pimpernel, take their winemaking seriously, and their drops reflect the characteristics of the grapes. They are also serious about terroir – so serious, in fact, that Mark's mother pocketed a couple of limestones from a pinot noir vineyard in Burgandy. When they returned to Australia, Mark had the stones analysed and subsequently buried more than 250 tonnes of similar crushed limestone in his own vineyard. The pinot noir grapes that grow above it produce some of the best pinot the Yarra Valley has to offer. Fruit is picked by hand, and little is done to it to interfere with the natural fermentation process.

7.  Dominique Portet

Dominique Portet

Though the Dominique Portet winery was only founded in 2000, it's the project of a ninth-generation winemaker from Bordeaux. The Dominique Portet winery in the rolling hills of Yarra Valley offers a cellar door open daily, and the restaurant serves country-style lunches (think snack platters, cheese, charcuterie and even snails) ideal for a post-wine tasting meal. Taste the Fontaine rosé, one that’s an exceptional berry-driven summery blend of merlot, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon, and a steal at $26 a bottle.

8.  Oakridge Wines

  • price 3 of 4

Oakridge Wines

Oakridge Wines is a family-owned winery in Yarra Valley that is gaining renown for its restaurant. The kitchen, which is headed by chef Aaron Brodie, produces dishes highlighting produce from the kitchen garden and local growers. Guests can enjoy a meal matched with a selection of wines exclusive to the Oakridge restaurant ( which was our Restaurant of the Year in 2019 ), or simply take in the view of the stunning vineyard – tastings overlook a pretty gorgeous vista.

9.  Many Hands Winery

Many Hands Winery

Tasting your way around the Yarra Valley is hungry work, and there will come a time in your day when you need to fill your stomach with something more substantial than wine tastings. When that time comes, you should kindly ask your deso to point the car in the direction of Many Hands Winery, a small producer that excels at both wine and Italian food. Tastings cost $10 here, redeemable against a bottle (and you are quite likely to want to buy at least one to bring home). You can also drink a bottle or two while you get amongst wood-fired pizzas, garlic prawns, an antipasto platter or other Italian snacks and meals.

10.  Yering Farm

Yering Farm

This winery doesn't take itself too seriously, but it is serious about its product. The entry-level Farmyard series is a very approachable range, featuring playful labels of colourful animals. It is fruit-forward, easy-drinking wine, the kind you can crack at a barbecue and drink way too much of. Tastings here are $5, and the chardonnay and late harvest dessert wine are particular standouts at Yering Farm. But this being a former fruit farm, fruit is still a big part of what Yering Farm does. Yering offers what it calls 'syder', or pink lady apple cider. It's crisp, perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and tastes just like biting into a perfectly ripe pink lady apple.

11.  Maddens Rise

Maddens Rise

The blink-and-you'll-miss-it shed that serves as the cellar door for Maddens Rise does not have a fancy restaurant or assembly line of tastings. Instead, you'll find a simple but beautifully finished shed (it was filled with daffodils when we visited), stunning views and a handwritten A4 sheet of paper detailing the wines on offer and their prices. Tastings cost $10, and you should absolutely taste everything here. For an example of the kind of winery this is, look no further than the sparkling rosé. It's a delicious combination of chardonnay and pinot noir grapes, fermented in French oak barrels and spending another nine months on lees in the bottle, and made using the Méthode Champenoise. It's no slouch and has a considerable pedigree, but the winemakers here call it simply 'pink fizz' and say it's uncomplicated, delicious, and perfect for any time drinking. We agree.

Here are the best Yarra Valley Wineries WITH accommodation so you can can the ultimate wine-lovers getaway and not have to drive home!

Yarra Valley Wineries with Accommodation near Yarra Glen

Yarra Glen is perhaps the most central part of the Yarra Valley, with dozens of wineries and even a dairy and chocolate factory within a short distance. This will be the most convenient place to arrive to if you are coming to Yarra Valley from the airport (make sure to save on Melbourne airport parking ).

If you want to stay in the most central part of the Yarra Valley, check out the Yarra Valley wineries with accommodation below.

Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort & Spa

Balgownie estate- best yarra valley wineries with accommodation

Type: Luxe Resort

Amenities: Day spa, cellar door, indoor pool, breakfast buffet, bar, restaurant, package deals available, fitness center, tennis court

Good For: A pampering weekend away

Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort + Spa is probably my number one recommendation if you want to stay in a Yarra Valley winery with accommodation. This 5-star resort has everything you could want in a Yarra Valley getaway, to the point that you honestly wouldn’t need to leave the resort!

Out of all the options in this article, this resort also has the best location near Yarra Glen. They have a cellar door right on site where you can taste and buy Balgownie Estate’s own wines, and a great restaurant as well. You can book package deals on rooms that come with spa treatments, meals, and even Yarra Valley sunrise hot air balloon rides.

If you’re looking for a splurge, you have found it! There are lots of different types of rooms available too, often with decks and a view.

The Farmhouse at Meletos

farmhouse at meletos yarra valley winery accommodation and restaurant

Type: Rustic hotel room on an orchard

Amenities: Parking, internet, breakfast, coffee, restaurant

Good For: A couples’ getaway

Technically in Coldstream, the Farmhouse at Meletos is another wonderful 5-star option for Yarra Valley accommodation on a winery. But actually, technically, this one is located on an apple and pear orchard where they produce a few different types of delicious cider on site!

If you love cider, this is definitely the option for you. However, they also serve a number of hand-selected local Yarra Valley wines at their fantastic restaurant and pizzeria on-site. I took my parents for lunch here when they visited me- it’s lush!

As far as the accommodation goes, they have a few different Queen rooms that are fully stocked with amenities and lovely views. It’s a great home base to explore the Yarra Valley, and to have a cider tasting paddle or three.

De’Vine Escape

De'Vine Estate yarra valley winery accommodation

Type: Basic hotel rooms on vineyard

Amenities: tour booking desk, free wine tasting, vineyard view, massage, spa bath (some rooms), parking, wifi

Good For: A more budget-friendly place to stay still on a vineyard

De’Vine Escape is a great option for those who are on a bit more of a budget or are not looking for over-the-top resort accommodation but would still like to stay in Yarra Valley winery accommodation.

De’Vine is located right next to the scenic Fergusson Winery, and bookings come with free wine tasting at this sister venue (which also has a great restaurant). De’Vine is jsut north of Yarra Glen in a hilly area with gorgeous views and lots of wineries.

Sutherland Estate Winery Accommodation

sutherland estate yarra valley winery aribnb accommodation

Type: Private Cellar Door Airbnb

Amenities: cellar door, vineyard views, private deck, bush walks, kitchen, breakfast

Good For: A couple’s getaway

The farthest away of the Yarra Valley wineries with accommodation, Sutherland Estate borders right on the line of wine country and mountain foothills. The views are absolutely stunning from this private Estate, which is actually the only one on this list only available on Airbnb. There’s only one of them, so make sure to book fast – unsurprisingly, it books up quickly!

The private deck looks out over the Sutherland winery, and while feeling extremely remote, it’s actually only 10-15 minutes from Yarra Glen! As it’s the only one around, you will really feel ‘getaway’ vibes at this awesome Yarra Valley winery Airbnb. For what it is, it’s also very affordable!

Yarra Valley Wineries with Accommodation near Healesville

Healesville would likely be the second hub of the Yarra Valley after Yarra Glen. Healesville has the aspect of having both wineries and bush, as it’s set at the foot of the mountains. It’s also well-known for having the Healesville sanctuary, an Australian animal sanctuary that people come from far and wide to visit. If you haven’t been, you should definitely check out the Healesville Sanctuary during your trip.

In Healesville, you can go bushwalking in the morning, animal-petting in the afternoon, and wine tasting in the evening… or if you stay at one of these wineries with accommodation, you can taste wine all day!

Outlook Hill Vineyard & Accommodation

outlook hill vineyard accommodation healesville yarra valley

Type: Private Bed & Breakfast-style cottages for couples or groups on a vineyard/restaurant

Amenities: breakfast, kitchen, vineyard views, wifi, garden, parking

Good For: A family or couple’s getaway with sweeping winery views

The Outlook Hill Vineyard Accommodation (technically a B&B) is just SO cute, guys. They have a total of 5 cottages – most for two but one with a capacity of 8 – most of which have their own spa baths, too. They sit about halfway up a hill, so the views are amazing across the 60-acre vineyard. The cottages are close enough together to be convenient, but far enough apart that you truly feel privacy among the beautiful gardens and winery.

It’s about halfway between Healesville and Yarra Glen, giving it the proximity to the best of the shops + restaurants of both towns.

This is one of my top picks for Yarra Valley wineries with accommodation because it really has everything you need. A lot of the rooms and surroundings also have a colorful artistic touch as well, with most cottages boasting murals on their outside walls. For the trendy accommodation it is, Outlook Hill is quite affordable as well.

Valley Farm Vineyard Cottages

Valley farm vineyard cottages yarra valley winery accommodation

Type: Guesthouse/Bed and Breakfast

Amenities: garden, coffee shop, tour desk, garden, BBQ, kitchen, farm

Good For: Groups or families looking for a slightly more affordable and authentic place to stay

Valley Farm Vineyard Cottages offers a few studio apartments and a few cottages located up in the hills above Healesville (but only a few minutes’ drive to town). It’s hosted by a couple who run the vineyard and farm, so you can expect to try some of their own wines and possible to be greeted by an alpaca outside in the morning!

There are sweeping views here, so you may want to decide to cook a meal and stay to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. This property is easily matched with some bushwalking and explorations of Healesville’s many venues in town.

Yarra Valley Wineries with Accommodation near Seville

This part of the Yarra Valey would be considered the southern part – closer to the Dandenong Ranges than to Healesville. Either way, though, there are plenty of wineries around and two main places to find accommodation in wineries. Here are my picks!

Wild Cattle Creek Estate

wild cattle creek estate winery accommodation yarra valley

Type: Splurge-worthy getaway among the vines

Amenities: kitchen, restaurant on-site, some spa baths, views from every room, breakfast, bar

Good For: Luxurious escape for couples or groups

Another of the higher-class Yarra Valley wineries with accommodation, Wild Cattle Creek Estate is a large-sized Bed & Breakfast with one, two, and three-bedroom villas and cottages. There’s surely a bit of something for everyone, from the couples’ getaway to the family trip, but as it’s rather luxurious it would be best for a couple or perhaps a hen’s weekend.

Each and every cottage/villa has a view of some kind, whether over the pond or winery. There is a quaint restaurant on-site that serves food and Wild Cattle Creek’s own wine. It’s also just a few minutes drive to Seville, and easily mixed with some adventures in the Dandenong Ranges such as Puffing Billy.

Seville Estate Winery Accommodation

seville estate yarra valley wineries with accommodation

Type: Boutique King Rooms with winery views

Amenities: balcony, kitchen, vineyard views,

Good For: A serene couples escape

The Seville Estate offers boutique winery accommodation in the Yarra Valley generally for couples. There are a few king rooms/vineyard apartments available, and also an 8-person 4-bedroom homestead for larger groups looking for a getaway. The area is very serene, with vineyards surrounding a pond right outside the units.

You can enjoy wines made on-site and may also get a glimpse of some local wildlife during your stay. Staying at this estate would also be well-mixed with adventures, hikes, and views in the Dandenong Ranges, but it’s also not far at all from the central Yarra Valley attractions.

Well, that’s it for the best Yarra Valley wineries with accommodation! These are the best places to taste wine and not have to drive home afterwards! 😉 I hope that you have found something to your liking, whether it’s a girls trip, a family holiday, or a couples retreat. Let me know in the comments if there are more I should add!
