Before anything else, please be reminded that once you have your visa with you, make sure that you scan or take a photo of it and keep a digital copy to your email or put it somewhere secure. This also applies to your passport. It is always good to have copies so you can have a reference to show in case you do not have these handy or in worse cases, you might lose them.

Please follow the steps below on how to verify your UAE visa status with your passport number:

Step 1: Go to this website link by ICA – https://smartservices.ica.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/default.html#/fileValidity

I used my old passport which explains why it pulled up this information. On the hand, below you can see an example result where the the status shows as “ACTIVE” and it also shows the expiration date which matches with the visa under my new passport. So please try to toggle between the Types whether it is “Residency” or “Visa” in case you need to double-check your info. But it should generate a result given that you have been in the UAE and have resided here.

check visa residency online passport

So this is the process of looking up your UAE visa information using only your passport. You will be able check your file status residency or visa if it is valid or not.

This is really helpful if you do not have your UAE visa with you on hand. You can also check if the visa that was issued to you is real or fake using this process. At least you can cross-check it through this official government website in order to see if it is active or not.

We are really happy that the government is offering these online channels in order so that residents of Dubai and the UAE  can utilize these online systems  easily because of how accessible they are at our own time and convenience. After all, they are trying to build Dubai as the :smartest city” in the world and with these services, it helps the set-up of living as an expat quite efficient.

How to check my uae visit visa validity, how can i extend my uae visit visa, overstaying fines in uae, changing to residence visa without exit.

How to Check My Visit Visa Expiry Date in UAE?

Do you know the status of your UAE Visit Visa? It is important to know when your UAE Visit visa will expire and its validity. In addition, it is important to know how you check the UAE Visit Visa application status.

The government of the United Arab Emirates has made it easy to check UAE Visit Visa Validity through the UAE government website. After entering your details, it is a one-stop place where you check all about the UAE Visit Visa.

Therefore, if you want to check your UAE visit visa validity, visit the Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship, Customs & Port Security website.

Whether you are in UAE on a residence or visit visa, don't forget to check your visa status and if you need to update the visa before its expiry.

If you fail to check your visa status and it expires while in UAE, you will be required to pay fines and penalties for overstaying. You can avoid all this by visiting the website mentioned above and updating your visa because the UAE government offers a grace period after the visa expires to set things straight.

UAE Government Types of Visit Visas

There are two types of UAE visit visas;

  • Single Entry: For single entry visas, you can choose between 1 month and 3 months, with 30 + 10 days or 60 + 10 grace period days beginning on the date of entry to UAE.
  • Multiple Entries: Multiple entry visit visa allowed is valid for 30 or 60 days, and you can leave the country and enter again using the same visa, provided it is still valid. There is no grace period, and you will get fines for overstaying if your visa expires. Hence, it is important to check the status of your visa and note the expiry date.

If you have noticed your UAE visit visa is about to expire, worry not because you can extend your UAE visit visa . The process of extending the visa is hassle-free by even visiting the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICA) website.

Visitors can now enjoy a 30-day visa extension twice (for a total of 60 days), thanks to the most recent reforms passed by the UAE visa system. That means that tourists do not need to leave the country at any point throughout their stay.

The whole process of extending the visit visa will be done while in UAE. You must pay an additional AED 600 for each new extension

If your visit visa expires as a tourist, note you have 10 days grace period to extend your visa or leave the country. After the 10 days are over, you will get fins for overstaying, and each day you will be required to pay 125.00 AED first day and each consecutive day AED 100.

Exception for UAE Visit Visa Extension

There are certain categories of visitors who, even though they are required to have a UAE visit visa while entering the country, are not obliged by the law to extend their visit visa even though it expires. These categories of people are;

  • residents of GCC countries
  • special entry permits
  • 96-hour permit for special missions

All who overstay their visas are subject to fines in the United Arab Emirates. The government of the UAE recognizes that individuals may sometimes have legitimate reasons for overstaying their visas. Therefore rather than blacklisting them and making matters more complicated, they have decided not to do so.

They also acknowledge that these individuals were previously granted permission to reside in the country legally. There is no reason to criminalize or treat them if they have no history of known provocative behavior or criminal activity.

The government of the UAE recognizes and respects the fact that you have a deep affection for their nation and feel the need to remain there for a longer period. So, go ahead and stay. Just so you're aware, you committed some infringement, and as a result, you'll have to pay for it.

Before leaving, all that is required of you is to pay the costs automatically computed for you depending on the number of days you overstayed. After the expiration of the visit visa, everyone is given a grace period of ten extra days.

You are required to leave the state before the 10th day after the visa has expired, or else you will be subject to a penalty of 125.00 AED for the first day and then 100 AED for each day afterward.

If you have overstayed and want to know how much you have been fined, you can visit the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) . We strongly advise that you don't overstay your visit. However, if you do, make the most of it and don't break the law.

How to Check My Visit Visa Expiry Date in UAE?

A visit visa to the UAE can be procured for either 30 or 60 days and converted into either an employment visa or a residency visa.

In the event of a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in addition to the payment for the visa itself, a deposit from a local sponsor, relative, or any resident is also necessary. This deposit will be repaid when the tourist has successfully exited the country.

When it comes to employment visas, the decision rests with your company. Within two to five working days after signing the offer letter, your company needs to submit your details, including a copy of your passport, to apply for a residency visa and an Emirates ID on your behalf.

Once this is done, your organization will receive an application form (finished with barcodes and everything), which you will use for a medical fitness exam once it is made available. If your organization chooses to pay for the "VIP" application, the test should be ready within twenty-four hours, but if it is standard, it should be ready between three and five days.

The government of the UAE is continuously making investments in automated systems, and the process is getting better every day. If you pass the physical exam, the results are forwarded to the immigration department responsible for processing your resident visa.

If an American citizen needs emergency financial assistance in Dubai, the ACS unit will help you contact family, friends or any banking institution in the USA.

SENDING MONEY THROUGH U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE

If you cannot use commercial money transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram, you can send or receive funds directly to friends and family through the consulate. The U.S. Department of State offers delivery service to a destitute U.S. citizen abroad. A $30 fee is charged to establish an account and transfer the funds.

REPATRIATION LOANS

Destitute American citizens may be eligible for a loan from the U.S. government to travel back to the country. However, the repatriation loans must be paid back to the government. A travelling limit is applied to the passport when issuing a loan. In most cases, you will not be issued a new passport until the loan is paid in full.

FEDERAL PROGRAMS

The American Consulate in Dubai offers federal programs to facilitate American nationals.

INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE

SELECTIVE SERVICE

The consulate also facilitates the Selective Service System. It helps with registration programs.

VETERANS AFFAIRS

Veterans, service members and their beneficiaries can apply for benefits services through the consulate. The Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) can also assist with any questions.

If you’re eligible to vote, you can get your ballot by email through the consulate. All you have to do is complete a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). You should complete a new FPCA each January if you move frequently.

LOCAL RESOURCES

The U.S. Consulate General in Dubai has a list of local legal entities, charities and medical organisations on its official website that assist its nationals. However, please note that none of the mentioned entities are affiliated with the consulate.

CHILD AND FAMILY ISSUES

The consulate helps American citizens with child and family issues such as birth registration or intercountry adoption.

INTERCOUNTRY ADOPTION

If you want to adopt a child, you can work with a U.S. adoption service provider to facilitate intercountry adoption. America is a party to the Hague Adoption Convention, an international treaty that seeks to ensure that intercountry adoptions are made in a child’s best interest. All adoptions must be made in accordance with the U.S. and local laws.

Parents who have given birth outside the USA can check with the consulate to see if the child acquired citizenship at birth. You can then apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) or a U.S. passport for the child.

RENOUNCE CITIZENSHIP

If you wish to relinquish your American citizenship, you can contact the consulate. However, please note that this renunciation should be completely voluntary.

uae-visa-cancelled-stock-pic-1713957566856

Abu Dhabi: You must ensure your UAE residence visa is cancelled properly when you decide to leave the country permanently, as failure to close the residency status may result in complications in case you want to return to the UAE in the future.

The advisory has been shared on the website of the UAE Digital Government (u.ae).

Expats relocating to another country must also cancel the UAE visa of residents whom they have sponsored, such as family members.

The UAE Digital Government, through its website, states: “If you a have a [UAE] residence visa sponsored either by a family member or by your employer, and you decide to leave the country permanently, your residence visa must be cancelled officially.”

The website points out: “Normally, only the sponsor can cancel your residence visa. You cannot process the application on your own.”

What companies must do

If a company decides to cancel an employment visa of its employee, it must first approach Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) with an application to cancel the employee’s labour contract and labour card. The employee must also sign this application. Then, the employer should apply to ICP (Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security) for visa cancellation.

The company must also cancel the work permit. For this, it must submit a letter to MoHRE signed by the employee stating that he or she has already received all the dues, wages and end of services benefits from the employer.

What about individuals who are sponsors?

Individuals sponsoring their spouse, children and other dependents must cancel their dependents’ visas before they cancel their own visa. It normally costs around Dh110 to cancel the visa.

The UAE Digital Government explained that according to the procedures, only the sponsor or someone they delegate on their behalf (such as a PRO, for example, in the case of companies) can proceed with cancelling the residence visa of someone they have sponsored. The sponsored person cannot implement the request without the permission and signature of the sponsor.
