Wonderful family place

We had a awesome time while we stayed here , we rented a rv and another space for the rv of our own , very clean and nice and great atmosphere for families looking to come and relax and have fun

Love love loved this place

We are from Easley SC, decided to kick summer off In May with a trip to the beach and do some surf fishing. We had the best time. The RV spots are big with plenty of room to park, the bath house is one of the best I have ever seen, very clean and up to date. Plenty of hot water , water pressure, and private with plenty of room to move around. The presentation of the park is beautiful with plenty to do but not so busy you can't relax. The nights are peaceful. We took our dogs, Fishing on the lake wasn't that great, but still a beautiful view with wild life. We loved it so much we are returning for a week at Christmas and Kick off the new year 2023. Look forward to many trips here. Oh and the breakfast is awesome at the seaside cafe. The employees throughout the park are very helpful and friendly. The Meece Family.

Love this campground

Been camping ever since it opened. Love this place. Wish it go back to being able to picking out camp site like you use too. When your handicap it can make a difference on your stay. Renting golf carts can be a little pricey for retired people. But anyway best campground ever.

ALWAYS CLEAN AND FRIENDLY

WE HAVE STAYED HERE DURING ALL 4 SEASONS AND ENJOYED OUR STAY EACH TIME. REASONABLY REGULATED AND WELL MAINTAINED. MY WIFE HAS DEMENTIA AND GOT LOST IN THE PARK ONE TIME. THE MANAGEMENT IMMEDIATELY HAD THE PARK SEARCHED BY A POSSE OF WHITE PICKUP TRUCKS AND SHE WAS LOCATED QUICKLY. WE WOULDN'T STAY ANYWHERE ELSE AT THE BEACH.

40 years and counting

Great family campground fun for all ages clean and safe in July it will 40 years in a row we have stayed there.

LOVE THIS RESORT

Great place for family to enjoy the beach without all the crowds. Super friendly staff, very clean and well kept amenities, have been spending our summer vacations here for going on 4 years and always look forward to returning. So many activities for kids, bike ride away from shopping, great for running through the park or on the beach. Can't wait for our next trip!

“Great beach location!”

BW13 User Image

The campground is HUGE. Sights are pretty close, so definitely get one around the lake or beachfront if you'd like more space. We were beachfront and loved just hopping over the dunes to the beach. We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

About a mile walk down the beach to Apache Pier, with some shops and dining, but the nicer restaurants seem to be farther from the beach. King and 44 BBQ and Hook and Barrel out on US17 were both amazing! Skip the Barefoot Queen riverboat tour....

“Great access to the beach, large & clean bath houses, and friendly staff.”

We parked on the main road and there was a lot of traffic. Pool was awesome and lazy river was fun. Easy walk to beach which was very clean. Ripley's, illusion lab at Myrtle Beach was a lot of fun. We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved it there. Spent three months. We were 5 spots from the beach and loved walking the beach every day. It was a very convenient location for the many golf courses. Very clean and friendly.

Lovely park! Had the option to park right by the ocean (but convenience fee to be able to choose your own spot is 2.50 per night). The place is kept very well. Some of the things that I loved were the clean bathhouses, outside is clear of litter, indoor heated pool, 24-hr laundromat (although it was far from us + quiet time started at 11pm ‍). They have an app to see everything they offer plus maps, rules, you name it. They had a freakin Starbucks ya'll..yes Starbucks. In the same place they had pastries, breakfast items and other treats. We rented a golf cart which was so convenient to get around anywhere in the park but it's kinda expensive for me. The people their were friendly in general. I met a neighbor a camp spot away from me in the bathhouse that gave me great advice and tips for our next destination. The only downer for us was that there were amenities and activities that were closed for the season or was getting renovated. I would definitely go back again for a longer time right before peak summer as it was my first time at Myrtle Beach and didn't get to see everything!

I used to think this was a nice campground, but the last time I was there, I was very surprised that the atmosphere had changed. As you might know everyone has a flagpole as a part of their site. People used to fly the American flag, or maybe their state flag or favorite team. Of course, just like the rest of our country, it's now mostly flags making political statements. It's like that's all anyone wants to think about. When I am on vacation I like to enjoy the beach and take it easy. I don't want to be reminded 24/7 of how divided our country has become. This bothered me very much and kind of ruined my vacation. I no longer recommend MB Travel Park.

Photo of Chelsea M.

Came to MBTP for Labor Day weekend. We got in late Thursday night (around 12 am) where we were greeted by the security guard. He was friendly gave us a map to our camping spot so we could quickly get settled for the night. Next morning a woman came to our site telling us we couldn't ride our golf carts that we trailered 4 hours because you can only ride a golf cart if you are handicap or a primary resident. Apparently it's in the rules but we were unaware or we wouldn't have stayed here. For the rest of the weekend we were followed and harassed anytime we tried to ride our golf cart to the pool, beach or anywhere around this facility that is over 125 acres and has almost 1200 sites. Keep in mind we brought our small children (under 2) and my in laws who are over 60 but not considered handicap and they were required to walk everywhere we went. There were plenty of people riding their golf carts around but like I said they were either handicap or primary residents so it was kind of a slap in the face we had to walk everywhere even though we had brought our own golf carts. We won't be coming back to MBTP but other than the golf cart issue everything was clean, pool area is nice with a kid area and large enough where it didn't feel crowded.

Great family friendly environment and an awesome location next to the Tanger outlets and Walmart for all your needs, great basically private beach access, only reason I didn't give 5 stars is some of the spots are really uneven and could use some re-leveling but most of them are excellent. Clean showers and restrooms, stores, pools, and arcade fun for all

Photo of Debby S.

We stayed in a rental RV from 6/24 till 7/2. Our first time and it won't be our last. A wonderful community feel. The cost of items at the general store, arcade and restaurant were reasonable- most places would have increased prices to take advantage of being on premises. it was an older RV and not the newest and it had nothing that felt old. Some of the pans were scratched up on the non stick and when I called guest services they replaced them very promptly The activities for kids and adults were great, not over the top just good fun entertainment. The restaurant on the grounds was great again no bells or whistles just sone good food. I love going there for breakfast. Everyone was friendly. I felt like it was like the old Catskills resorts.

Quiet, peaceful place to stay. Family oriented. Recommend for anyone who wants a relaxing vacation. Lots to do for the kids as well. Love it!!

Photo of Jim J.

This place would have easily gotten a "great" review had it not been for the neighboring property and a 6am on Sunday morning "Sunday Service" (granted it was Easter Sunday) that woke everyone with loud obnoxious music. I've never wanted to hit a preacher so bad that morning but I love Jesus and refrained. The resort next door had their pool just beyond the fence which provided some noise and they had a super bright light shining directly onto the fence line. I suppose that is good for security. The good stuff was really good though. The showers were clean and hot. Great pressure. The restrooms in general were very clean. The Breakfast By The Sea restaurant was 500 feet from my tent so we had a great breakfast every morning. Friday night they had a DJ and Saturday a band. Security was good and they made their rounds. We felt safe and secure. The location of this site (B2) was the best I've ever had... so close to the beach you wondered if the ocean was going to lap up to your door! I was surprised to learn that they had electric and water on the site as well. I would have brought more AC powered items had I known that! Great place, local to everything including shops and restaurants. Check-in was easy and they let me check-in early. We will be back. My daughter loved this place and so did I.

Located right on the beach, the mid-range Myrtle Beach Travel Park has 1150 sites, including rentable Ocean Villas and Travel Trailers. Rental units have fully equipped kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and full private bathrooms, while campsites have hook ups including water, sewer, and cable. Facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sports courts, and a huge lake with fishing available. The seasonal on-site restaurant, Breakfast by the Sea, offers American cuisine for breakfast and lunch. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, but the signal is weak in places.

Oyster hotel review, oceanfront campground with expansive, well-maintained grounds.

Right on the beach, the campground is surrounded by beautiful, well-maintained grounds full of trees, and has walkways out to the beach. Many of the picnic tables at the campgrounds have roof-style coverings for shade in the summer and there are birdhouses that attract local birds. A brick fountain sits next to a large lake and there's a wooden dock with bench seating. The lobby is dated, with potted plants, light-pink and green furnishings, and an old striped sofa.

Beachfront location, with restaurants, shops, and golf courses within walking distance

The Myrtle Beach Travel Park sits on the beach, within walking distance of the Tanger Outlets, Arcadian Shores Golf Club, a Walmart, and a number of restaurants. The Myrtle Beach Mall, Barefoot Landing, House of Blues Myrtle Beach, and the Alabama Theatre are all less than a 10-minute drive away, while Ripley’s Aquarium and Broadway at the Beach are a 15-minute drive from the property. The Grand Strand Airport is 10-minutes from the campgrounds while Myrtle Beach International Airport is about 20-minutes.

Rooms with full-kitchens and private bathrooms, plus campsites and RV hook ups

Several different lodging options are available at the Myrtle Beach Travel Park, including Ocean Villas, Travel Trailers, and campgrounds with hookups for RVs.

The Ocean Villas are manufactured homes and include kitchens with full-size refrigerators, cooking ranges, microwaves, and sinks, as well as a dining areas with green laminate tables and wooden chairs. All have cramped living areas with sofas and flat-screen TVs as well as small bedrooms with tiny windows, light-wood furniture, gray walls, and brown bedspreads. Private bathrooms include shower/tub combos and the same green countertops as the kitchen and dining area. Travel Trailers have wood floors, tables with bench seating, and tan leather couches. Kitchens have microwaves, full-size refrigerators, ovens, and stoves and the living areas have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs. Small bedrooms have tan-colored comforters and tiny windows. Private bathrooms have brown laminate countertops and walk-in showers. No toiletries or linens are provided in either unit type.

Campsites include 30- and 50-amp hook-ups plus cable, water, and sewage. All parking spaces on the property, including rental units, have picnic tables outside, and beach spots have pavilions over the tables for shade. Daily trash pick up is provided. A total of 11 public bathrooms with heating and air-conditioning are dotted throughout the property, each with about nine showers. All are clean and updated with blue, white, and green tile, and there are lots of sinks and counter space.

Pool, lazy river, sports courts, on-site grocery store, and laundry facilities

Myrtle Beach Travel Park features a large sun deck with an outdoor pool, a smaller kids' pool, and a long, serpentine lazy river. There's also a big indoor pool with floor-to-ceiling windows and plastic chairs. Basketball and volleyball courts are situated right next to the beach, and there is a playground with climbing features and slides. Fishing is allowed at the on-site lake, which is full of bass and bream fish.

The on-site store sells grocery items and other camping necessities and there is a huge laundry facility with many machines and picnic tables inside. The seasonal restaurant, Breakfast by the Sea, offers classic American dishes for breakfast and lunch and gets good reviews. Ministry and nondenominational church services are also available, and each site has its own parking area.

Best Time To Visit Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is a great destination throughout the year. Each season has a different appeal, and each has its pros and cons. Below are reasons why Myrtle Beach is unique and special in all four seasons.

Spring marks the start of tourism in Myrtle Beach. It is a great way to beat the crowds and the summer prices. Be mindful that some establishments might still be closed in March and April, with most things getting into full swing by Memorial Day weekend. Keep in mind the water temperatures will be frigid this time of year, but beach walks are ideal.

Summer is by far the best time to enjoy all the beauty and bounty that Myrtle Beach has to offer. With the weather in the 80s and low 90s, almost every day is a perfect beach day, and the water temperatures are perfect for swimming activities and various water sports.

There are, however, both pros and cons to visiting Myrtle Beach in the summer .

The perfect summer weather conditions also bring less-than-ideal crowds. Expect the beaches to be packed with people fighting for space in the sand, as well as difficult parking. In addition to space issues, prices also reach their height in the summer. Everything from hotels to food to rental equipment reaches peak level in the summer.

For those looking for pleasant weather without crowds, early to mid-fall is ideal. There are far fewer crowds and hotel prices tend to go down starting after Labor Day weekend. This means a cheaper trip but fewer days of tanning. This time of year is wonderful for lounge chairs on the beach and long beach walks.

Winter and beaches don’t often go hand-in-hand, but it is certainly possible to visit Myrtle Beach in the winter. Some argue it is better to visit Myrtle Beach in Winter over the summer .

For one, there are no crowds. There are also often great hotel deals.

Some restaurants and bars are closed in the winter, but those that are open take on a more local feel in these months. Myrtle Beach is also host to several festivals in the holiday season, including the visually captivating Night of A Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens.

Best Ways To Get Around Myrtle Beach

When arriving in and traveling around Myrtle Beach, there are several options available. For those not interested in using a car, it is entirely possible to arrive at Myrtle Beach International Airport and take a car service to a beachfront hotel.

From there, much of the downtown and beach area is walkable, with many of the top sites and attractions close by.

If the trip itinerary calls for a venture beyond the immediate boardwalk vicinity, then car or public transport is required.

Public Transportation

Coast RTA Public Transit offers 8 different bus routes that cover the majority of the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area. The bus also offers transportation into the hub of Myrtle Beach for those who don’t want to spend lots of money on parking or battle for a parking space.

  • For more information on bus routes and ticketing through Coast RTA Public Transit .

Getting Around Myrtle Beach By Car

Renting a car or arriving by car is the most popular way to explore Myrtle Beach. Having a car allows visitors the chance to explore the many beaches to the north and south of Myrtle Beach, many of which are far less crowded than Myrtle Beach itself.

For those interested in golfing or visiting more remote destinations, a car is best. Keep in mind parking in popular areas in the peak summer months can be challenging and expensive.

Where To Eat And Drink In Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach has a plethora of restaurants and bars to choose from. From hidden hole-in-the-wall establishments to iconic and historic bars along the boardwalk, this area has it all.

The hard part isn't finding a place; it's choosing which one to sit down at.

  • Drift : High-end breakfast eatery with menu favorites like chicken and waffles and several egg benedict variations.
  • Donald’s Pancake House : Affordable breakfast option with eclectic pancake house-style menu.

Looking for gorgeous views while enjoying breakfast? There are plenty of Myrtle Beach eateries for morning delights .

  • Simply Southern Smokehouse: Off the beaten path, offering delicious and reasonably priced southern BBQ. A must-have for those visiting from outside the Southern U.S. Great takeout option as well.

Tips For Visiting Myrtle Beach

Whether traveling as a family, as a couple, or as a solo traveler, there are a few important things to note about a trip to Myrtle Beach. For one, when looking into booking a trip, keep in mind that timing is everything.

Not only does the time of year change what activities are available, but it also changes the room rates.

Myrtle Beach is a wildly popular vacation destination in the summer, so booking well in advance is encouraged. This is especially true when renting a vacation home, as inventory tends to dwindle as the spring approaches. The moral of the story here is to book in advance.

Also, remember that while Myrtle Beach does not offer direct sunset views (the sun sets in the West, after all), it does offer a magnificent sunrise. Be sure to catch at least one glorious sunrise while visiting.

  • Where is Myrtle Beach? Myrtle Beach is a city located in South Carolina. The area includes multiple beaches such as Cherry Grove, Central Myrtle, North Myrtle, Surfside, and Myrtle Beach State Park beaches.

How To Spend A Perfect Day In Myrtle Beach

Any perfect day in Myrtle Beach should involve a trip to the beach. But before venturing to the powdery sand, grab a bite at a local eatery or maybe just a gyro to go from Abraham's Gyro. With food taken care of, grab some water, sunscreen, and a beach chair and bask in all of Myrtle Beach's glory.

When the sun and ocean have both served their purpose, it's cocktail time. Consider grabbing a frozen cocktail along the 1.4-mile boardwalk to cool down. Next, if a wild night is in order, head over to The Bowery for some top-notch live music. For a more mellow evening, ride the SkyWheel at night.

After all, it's something everyone who visits Myrtle Beach has to do at least once.

What to Consider When Choosing the Best Airbnb in Myrtle Beach for You

Start scrolling through Myrtle Beach house rentals and it’s easy to quickly feel overwhelmed; you have hundreds of choices. Are you looking for a place for a family, friends, couple, or large group? For example, family-friendly Airbnbs can offer perks such as children’s toys, travel cribs, games and arcades, or even bunk beds for older kids to enjoy.

Vacationers wishing to stay in an Airbnb will also want to factor in rates and fees and any other desired amenities (such as access to a pool or whether it’s an Airbnb Myrtle Beach pet-friendly home). Online ratings and reviews (what others think of the property) can also help narrow a search. Luckily, Airbnb’s website has a number of filters to help narrow the selection of homes based on preferences, such as proximity to the beach or nightlife, or you may search for an Airbnb in Myrtle Beach with a private pool. There is a lot to consider, so just ahead is an overview.

Number of Guests, Bedrooms, and Bathrooms

Typically, a perk of getting an Airbnb is that it can accommodate more people than just a standard-size hotel room. Properties with two to six bedrooms—or maybe even more—can accommodate a group of friends, multiple families, or even a family reunion. Airbnb also offers single rooms for rent as well as condos or apartments for those preferring a smaller space for just one or two.

Airbnb homes can offer separate bedrooms and bathrooms for added guest comfort. You might even find properties with bunk beds for the kids. Don’t judge an Airbnb solely by its bedroom count, though, because many Airbnbs may offer foldaway beds or multiple beds in a room to accommodate a larger number of guests than what their bedroom count may indicate.

Rates and Fees

Besides the basic per-night rate, vacationers may find other costs related to their stay. Airbnb properties may tack on a separate cleaning fee and an Airbnb service fee. Any separate fees are usually clearly marked next to the room rate on the property’s booking page. Airbnb also has a feature on its site to display the total price (including all fees, before taxes) as you filter through properties. The total tax, however, is often displayed only once the guest makes the actual request to book the rental.

These extra fees can add up, but guests of hotels also face a lot of separate charges too, including taxes, hospitality fees, phone call charges, parking fees, room service, and possibly more. If cost is a guiding factor, you can compare some Airbnb prices to those of local hotels to see which is cheaper.

Ratings and Reviews

Another good way to narrow a home-rental search is to learn what others have to say about their stays at the property. Airbnb reviews can be posted from actual guest accounts only after their stay is completed, so you’ll have some assurance that posted reviews are coming from verified guests who actually stayed there.

Guests are asked to rate the properties on Airbnb using a 5-point scale based on factors such as cleanliness, host communication, check-in, location, and value. Hosts are able to respond to reviews. If a guest has gripes, you can check how the host responded to get a sense of how they address problems that possibly arise during stays. It could be a good indication of the responsiveness the host will use if you choose to stay there, too.

Many Airbnbs offer more than just a roof over your head. A big benefit to staying in an Airbnb can be all the amenities that a home may offer. The homes may come with access to a private pool or beach. They may offer a game room to keep the kids entertained, or at-home conveniences such as a washer and dryer or fully equipped kitchen and appliances. Those planning a working vacation may desire an Airbnb home that offers a dedicated work space and high-speed Wi-Fi.

Many Airbnbs also may offer exclusive access to nearby resort amenities or those within the community, such as to multiple pools (indoor and out), golf courses, or water sports or beach accessories (such as lounging chairs, umbrellas, towels, and more).

When eyeing this house, guests likely will first be drawn to the home’s arcade lounge, featuring massage chairs, a foosball table, darts, arcade games, and a putting mat. The game room also includes a poker set, board games, and a popcorn machine. For those who want to hit the gym, the home offers a workout room and an in-house yoga studio. Or, head out to the spacious rooftop terrace deck that has a dining set and an outdoor TV.

For those desiring to squeeze in some work, the home has a dedicated office space with high-speed Wi-Fi. The home—decorated in gray-white modern interiors—also comes with a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and appliances, washer and dryer, and a kids playroom (including a slide that attaches to the bed!). The townhome can accommodate up to 10 guests. Keep in mind the parking situation, though: This home can only accommodate a max of three cars parked in the driveway; street parking is prohibited. Guests who book this home also may want to consider the house rules for quiet hours: Quiet hours start at 10 p.m. EST and lift at 9 a.m. the next day.

The home is situated in a gated community with 24/7 security. It offers access to the Barefoot Landing resort, which includes four on-site golf courses, a shared pool, restaurants, entertainment, live music, and a marina for boat rentals. Sample Review: “The family fun house was the perfect spot to stay for our latest trip! Not only was the location fabulous but the entire place was spotless and gorgeous…It was very family oriented and fun for everyone (games, golf, etc). The host was extremely responsive and made our stay so welcoming. I cannot say enough good things about this place.”

Why It Made the Cut: With a prime location right across from the beach, the home is just as luxurious on the outside as the inside and includes a private hot tub in its outdoor oasis.

This 2-bedroom, 2-story beachside villa offers accommodations for up to seven guests. It is located just steps from the ocean and nestled within the Cabana Section of Myrtle Beach; guests will enjoy less crowded beaches where they can spread out. Also, the home is located across the street from Gardens by the Sea, an oceanfront park with an exercise trail. During their stay, guests also can take advantage of the Porcher Villas with access to a large, shared pool to splash around in during the day.

But guests will also want to spend plenty of time inside enjoying this home’s renovated open floor plan. It’s decorated in a coastal theme with vibrant turquoise pops of color. Guests may appreciate a guitar-string staircase that leads to the upstairs bedrooms. It features a spacious, fully equipped kitchen and appliances, and it has plenty of countertop space for cooking or entertaining a group. Best For Camping

Lil bear tent at laurel oaks estate.

Why It Made the Cut: Enjoy a stay in a nontraditional Airbnb—a tent-style retreat—for some glamping about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach.

Guests who want to feel more in tune with nature may want to opt for a canvas tent for their stay. This form of camping out, however, is done in a more upscale style. The Lil Bear Tent is a 12-foot-by-14-foot canvas frame that houses a queen bed. It comes with an AC unit, but guests are encouraged to use it only when sleeping. Guests will find USB jacks for charging a phone or tablet, but the tent does not have Wi-Fi. The Lil Bear Tent has a mini fridge, table and chairs, heater, fans, coffee maker, and kitchen supplies. It has a 6-foot covered deck attached for spending time outdoors out of the sun. Just outside the tent, guests also will have a fire pit, hammock, cornhole, picnic table, and gas grill. Hot water is available for showers, and a portable toilet is close by (with solar lights to illuminate the way in the dark). The tent can accommodate up to two adults (though the listing does mention up to three guests), and guests are welcome to set up two more additional tents at the campsite to accommodate extra guests.

Guests can hike and stroll along one of the many trails that back up to the National Wildlife Refuge, or they can take a paddleboat or kayak on the pond across from the tent. The campsite is a short drive to downtown Conway, South Carolina, which boasts shopping, restaurants, and a riverwalk. The campsite is also 2 miles from the Pitch Landing boat launch on the Waccamaw River and 10 miles from Bucksport Marina for guests who want to bring a boat, kayak, or canoe.

  • Maximum number of guests: 3 guests/1 bedroom/1 bed
  • Number of bathrooms: 1 bath (portable toilet)
  • Rate: $128/night
  • Standout amenities: Waterfront, fire pit
  • Serene, secluded setting
  • Comfortable and spacious canvas tent and campsite
  • 20 miles from Myrtle Beach
  • No Wi-Fi available
  • Limited cooling capacity

Sample Review: “The location and space were everything I hoped it would be! Although it got pretty cold the nights my husband and I stayed, the host made sure to check in to see if we needed an extra heater or blankets. It was our first time ‘glamping,’ and surprisingly, I wouldn’t mind doing it again. Such a great first experience! I recommend this place for couples and families who are looking to bond/reconnect without many distractions.”

Our top pick is the Spacious Vacation Townhouse located in the gated community of the North Beach Plantation. It’s a quick, 5-minute stroll to the beach and comes with access to abundant amenities, like an indoor pool with a lazy river, an outside pool, private cabanas (with butler service), and a swim-up bar. Guests can use complimentary transportation service to take advantage of the community’s on-site amenities. Our next pick is the Family Fun House at Barefoot Resort , which offers a true play place for kids and adults. It features an arcade lounge, workout room, and spacious rooftop terrace. It also offers access to Barefoot Landing, which includes four on-site golf courses, a shared pool, restaurants, entertainment, and a marina for boat rentals.

How We Chose the Best Airbnbs in Myrtle Beach

With hundreds of rentals listed on Airbnb—and with such diverse options—vacationers can find the decision tough for which type of property to choose, from beach bungalows or villas to condos in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The list of properties featured in this guide was curated after extensive research of the vast array of offerings. We narrowed the list by factoring in amenities, value, prior guests’ ratings and reviews of the property, and more. This guide features the diverse range of property offerings available for vacationers looking to stay at a Myrtle Beach rental home.

Before You Book the Best Airbnb in Myrtle Beach for You

An Airbnb isn’t for everyone. Some vacationers may prefer a hotel stay because of the location or even for shorter stays or when traveling with fewer people. Also, young adult travelers may find Airbnb properties too restricting. For example, many Airbnb listings for Myrtle Beach have a minimum age requirement for the primary renter to be 25 years or older. Myrtle Beach is a popular spring break destination for college students. Age requirements on listings may be trying to reduce the potential for parties and property damage. Also, if traveling with a pet, guests will want to double-check whether a host accepts pets on their property. If they do, they may charge an extra fee.

Personal preferences will ultimately be the deciding factor between a hotel and an Airbnb. Hotels tend to be located near main tourist attractions for those who prefer to have the convenience of being closer to the center of activity in an area. In Myrtle Beach, the hotels often may be in high-rise hotels and in close proximity to the beach. But an Airbnb can offer a wider variety of housing options, feel more like a home, and give guests a feel for living that’s similar to what residents in a local neighborhood would experience. Plus, many Airbnbs are located in communities that still give access to resort amenities such as pools and fitness centers.

Cost of Booking the Best Airbnb in Myrtle Beach for You

The cost of renting an Airbnb can vary considerably. The average daily rate for staying in a Myrtle Beach Airbnb is $173, but that can range greatly. The rate will be dependent on the size and type of home being rented, its location, the time of year, and the included amenities. In general, staying in an Airbnb often can offer savings, especially for those traveling with a large group or desiring longer stays. Groups who want extra space and greater privacy may be drawn to an Airbnb over a hotel. It’s important to be aware of any cancellation policies and fees as well as any extra fees the host may charge, like for cleaning services or pets.

Myrtle Beach is a popular vacation destination and offers abundant choices for places vacationers can stay. Here are some common questions vacationers looking for a vacation or short-term rental may have, along with their answers.

Q. Is Myrtle Beach a good rental market?

Myrtle Beach is a strong rental market. Nearly half of its residents rent rather than own, and many people who do own have chosen to rent out their properties to vacationers to generate steady rental income. This has fostered a vibrant, competitive market for those looking for an Airbnb for their stay.

Q. Which is quieter: North Myrtle Beach or Myrtle Beach?

Often a North Myrtle Beach VRBO or Airbnb property is touted as being quieter. North Myrtle Beach offers rows of oceanfront homes and less crowded beaches. It does offer plenty of attractions, too, including water sports, golf and mini golf, and more than 100 specialty and retail shops. But a stay in Myrtle Beach will put you more in the middle of all the action, as it’s filled with beach stores, buzzing nightlife, live entertainment, waterway cruises, water parks, and more.

Q. What month is best to visit Myrtle Beach?

Traditionally, June through August is known as Myrtle Beach’s peak season, attracting the largest crowds. The weather is warmer, with average temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s, and it’s also the peak time for events and concerts. September through November can also be a great time to visit. The weather begins to cool, but you may find more deals on stays.

Q. What part of Myrtle Beach is best to stay at?

Some travelers prefer the hustle and bustle of downtown and Broadway at the Beach and being near the prime tourist attractions and its buzzing nightlife. North Myrtle Beach and South Beach are typically known as quieter options and may be better alternatives for travelers looking for more low-key or family-friendly options.

Q. Is it safe to walk at night in Myrtle Beach?

Myrtle Beach is a popular walking place, with a bustling nightlife scene. Many pools at the resorts stay open until 10 or 11 p.m. Vacationers could be strolling around the beach long after sunset. As anywhere, though, it’s important to stay alert when walking at night, especially if you’re alone.

Q. What month is hurricane season in Myrtle Beach?

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Myrtle Beach is on the Atlantic Ocean and does face some threats. Before traveling, it’s wise to check for weather updates to see if there are any hurricane or tropical storm threats to the area.

Q. Is Myrtle Beach warm enough to swim?

Myrtle Beach water temperatures are perfect for swimming and beach activities. The warmest months to swim are from June through October. During its busiest tourist season (from June through August), water temperatures are in the 80s. The water is significantly cooler in the winter months. The coolest average water temperatures tend to be in January and February, averaging in the 50s.

Q. What time of year is Myrtle Beach cheapest?

The cheapest times to visit Myrtle Beach—for flying and staying in a hotel—are January to March, considered the area’s off-season. The summer months see some of the highest costs for travel and are its busiest tourist season. But from August to November, travelers may be able to snag more deals, as those are less popular travel times for the area.
