Documents for an Italian Schengen visa application must be completed or translated into English or Italian.

• With the applicant’s signature

• Valid for at least 3 months after the expiration of the requested visa

Applicants below the age of 18 are required to submit the following additional requirements:

• If the minor applicant is adopted, adoption documents are required
• If the minor applicant's parents are divorced, divorce papers are required
• If the minor applicant's parents are deceased, death certificates are required
• Letter of consent from both parents or legal guardians
• Passport copies of both parents or legal guardians

It may also be necessary to submit supplementary documents in relation to your travel visa application.

Italy Schengen Visa Fees

The standard fee for the application of an Italian Schengen visa is 80 EUR. However, there are particular applicants who are exempted from fees, such as most student visas and visas for children below the age of 6. Applicants will probably have to pay a separate, non-refundable service payment with their application.

 Italy Visa Application Steps

• Prepare all the required documents.
• Select “Tourism” as the reason for travel on the visa application form.
• Decide the number of entries needed to Italy or the Schengen area.
• Application procedures for an Italian Schengen visa may vary, depending on where you are applying from.
• Applicants may be able to apply online through the E-application system . Complete the form and print it.
• Applicants can also download, complete, and print out the standard Schengen visa online form found here .
• In both cases, the completed application form must be submitted to the Italian Consulate or visa processing center.
• For more information on the application process for an Italian Schengen visa, please check this link . Select your nationality and other information regarding your visa.
• Most applications require an in-person appointment at the nearest Italian Consulate or visa center in order to submit the application. Alternatively, applications may be submitted without a prior appointment during normal operating hours. Contact the Italian Consulate or visa center to determine if there is a need to schedule an appointment.
• Note: Applications must be submitted at least 15 days before the date of travel but not earlier than 6 months before the date of travel.
• Generally, applications must be submitted in person to the Italian Consulate or visa processing center. However, there may be a few differences in the submission procedures.
• Applicants will likely be required to submit their fingerprints (biometric data). Children below the age of 12 are exempted from biometric data collection. Applicants who have submitted their fingerprints within the last 59 months will most likely not be asked to resubmit.
• Applicants may also be asked to come back on another date for an interview regarding their trip.
• Pay the visa application fee.

When to Apply for Italy Schengen Visa

Visa applications must be submitted at least 15 days before the travel date but not earlier than 6 months before the travel date.

Where to Apply

Applications should be submitted either through the Italian Consulate or a visa application center that is connected with Italy.

In countries without any Italian consulate, applications may be submitted through a Schengen state consulate representing the interests of an Italian consulate.

Applications should be submitted only in the country of citizenship or residence.

Generally, it takes approximately 15 days to process Italy Schengen visa applications. However, in some cases it might take longer.

For approved visa applications:

Applicants must ensure that the information on the visa is complete and valid upon collection.

Applicants who have received their Schengen Visa for Italy should remember the following things:

• Inform the Italian Consulate or visa application center of any change to your itinerary after submission is completed.
• The approval of a Schengen visa does not guarantee entry upon arrival to Italy or other countries in the Schengen area.
• Additional documents pertaining to your financial means or accommodation may still be required to gain entry to Italy or other Schengen areas.

For denied Italy visa applications:

• If your application for an Italian Schengen visa was rejected, you have the right to appeal the decision within 60 days.
• The appeal process begins by picking up the standard-issued visa refusal form which also has the details of the reason for the rejection and the procedures of the appeal process.
• Appeals are considered by the Tribunale Amministrativo Regionale or T.A.R. of Lazio.
• A non-refundable fee must be paid for the appeal to be processed.

Apply for a UK Tourist Visa Through VFS Global

Step 1: Research on Your Visa Type

Step 4: Pay Your Fees

You'll be required to pay a visa fee upon application submission. Once you have paid your UK tourist visa fees, you will be given a reference number that starts with GWF.  This number will be helpful if you need to make changes to your visa application or appointment.

Step 5: Book an Appointment at a VFS Visa Application Centre

Upon completion of your visa application form and payment of the visa fee, you will be directed to the VFS Global website to book an appointment at a Visa Application Centre, so your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) can be recorded.

Step 6: Upload Your Documents

Digitally submit all the documents required for your UK tourist visa application. 

You can scan your documents at the Visa Application Centre with their Document Scanning Assistance option. An additional fee applies for this service.

Step 7: Visit the Visa Application Centre

Attend your appointment at the Visa Application Centre to submit your biometrics and get your photograph clicked. Take your valid passport with at least one page that is blank on both sides. Children under 16 years old need to be accompanied by an adult.

Step 8: Get Your Visa

Once a decision is made on your application, you can collect your documents from the Visa Application Centre or have them delivered to you for an extra fee.

Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been contacted to do so. To collect your documents in person; bring the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre and a valid Government identification card.

This UK tourist visa fee is non-refundable and subject to change. Additional fees may apply depending on factors such as foreign exchange fluctuations, courier delivery charges (if availed), etc.

The UK Embassy/Consulate can take up to 3-5 weeks after an appointment with them to process your visa application.

• you need to frequently pass through the UK over six months.

Please note that you do not need a Transit Visa for the UK if you hold a valid Standard Visitor tourist visa.

VFS Global says Sri Lanka decides on granting or rejecting visa

Issuing a statement, VFS Global said that the Department of Immigration & Emigration (DI&E) has signed a tripartite contract with GBS Technology Services & IVS Global FZCO being the prime contractor and VFS Global being the technology partner for the Sri Lanka government’s new E-Visa solution. www.srilankaevisa.lk .

“The decision to grant or reject the visa is at the sole discretion of the Department of Immigration and Emigration,” VFS Global said.

The company also said that it currently employs a total of 66 Sri Lankan nationals and the number is expected to increase to over 100 Sri Lankan nationals shortly.

Travellers (visa applicants) can choose from 17 non-resident visa categories ranging from one month to 10 years. The process is online, which brings convenience to applicants. This will be expanded to other languages based on the requirement.

The solution is offered through a user-pay model, at no cost to the government. All investments related to technology, infrastructure and staff are borne by the company.

• Track your application online, by the use of reference number mentioned on the invoice or receipt issued by VFS Global.
• Get your passport

Once a decision has been made on your visa application, you can collect your documents from VFS Global or request a return of your documents (if provided by VFS) for an additional fee.
