Maluma is hitting the road this year, unveiling the 2023 dates for the North American leg of his Don Juan World Tour.

On a recent Instagram post, the Colombian artist shared a set of steamy shirtless, poolside photos and let his 63 million followers know he was “calentando pa’ la gira” (warming up for the tour). On Monday (May 22), it was officially announced that he will embark on a 30-city stint across the U.S.

The Don Juan World Tour follows his successful Papi Juancho World Tour, which traveled across the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East from 2021 to 2022. The also CMN-produced trek, where the “Felices Los 4” singer serenaded fans from the in-the-round or 360-style stage, grossed $24,488,668, landing at No. 14 in Billboard’s Top Tours of 2021 list.

Maluma will be hitting arenas across the United States later this fall in support of his upcoming album “Don Juan.” The world tour will hit 30 cities starting with Sacramento, Calif. on August 31, and visit venues such as the Forum in Los Angeles, Madison Square Garden in New York, and the Kaseya Center in Miami.

The tour focused on songs off 2020’s “Papi Juancho” — his most recent full-length effort that gave way to the global hit “Hawái” — and fully embraced the alter ego, though he recently parted ways with the moniker on an Instagram pos t that also introduced “Don Juan.”

Colombian star Maluma will be putting out his sixth solo album later this month. Don Juan is slated to drop on August 25, the follow-up to 2020’s Papi Juancho and 2021’s 7DJ EP.

The Latin music singer and rapper has come a long way since Magia , Maluma’s debut album, released in 2012 when he was just seventeen years old. Over the past decade, he’s found not only commercial success but has continuously evolved his sound, drawing inspiration from genres across urban pop, reggaeton, mambo and more.

The musician takes VMAN along for an inside look at his custom looks and the magic behind the stateside tour

On the eve of the opening night of his Don Juan U.S. tour in Sacramento, California, music titan and previous VMAN digital cover star Maluma kicked off his highly anticipated tour—in style, of course!

Dressed in custom concert looks by BOSS, Maluma dons the brand exclusively for the US leg of his tour. Having been recently revealed as one of the main talent of brand’s Fall/Winter 2023 global campaign, Maluma’s one-of-one tour wardrobe is a natural, continuous exploration of his relationship with the brand after making his debut appearance in the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2023 campaign. With his first custom creation consisting of a purple twill cotton suit, that tooks inspiration from an archive 1992 BOSS collection, paired with a matching trench with an open back construction, the opening look helps reveal a more “bad boy” persona with the second and third looks consisting of a white motorcycle jacket and trousers made from lightweight plonge leather, crafted through a three-dimensional padding technique, with nods to the singer’s pet dobermans as the names “Buda” and “Karma” embellish the forearms and a canine head get emblazoned on the back. Collaborating closely with the brand, the chart topping musician has crafted up a tour wardrobe that matches his on-stage ‘Don Juan’ persona, sourcing inspiration from the many dashing men from real life to fiction that creatively inspire the singer, including James Bond, Hugh Hefner, and even Batman.

Having released his latest album,  Don Juan , through Sony Music Latin on August 25th, Maluma has been performing some of the record’s 25 featured songs featuring the likes of Mr. Castro, Don Omar and Jowell & Randy.—which includes six bonus tracks and Maluma’s previously released singles “ La Fórmula ” with Marc Anthony, “ La Reina ,”  “Diablo, Que Chimba”  alongside Anuel AA, and “ Coco Loco. ”

Maluma Announces 'Ambitious' U.S. Arena Shows and Promises Fans an 'Exhilarating Experience'

The Colombian star will kick off the U.S. tour dates on Aug. 31 in Sacramento, Calif.

On Monday, the Colombian star announced the United States leg of his Don Juan World Tour, which is set to kick off on Aug. 31 in Sacramento, California.

Throughout the 30-city tour, the "ADMV" singer, 29, will stop in major cities like Los Angeles, New York and Boston before wrapping on Nov. 4 in Miami.

"I am so excited to return to arenas around the U.S. this fall. I took a year off from touring to focus on perfecting what I feel is the best album of my career Don Juan ," he said in a press release.

"I can't wait to perform the new songs from the album for my fans for the very first time alongside my greatest hits in what I consider to be my most ambitious concert production yet," he added. "I've waited to give my fans a music and concert experience unlike any other and I expect the Don Juan U.S. Tour to be an exhilarating experience that they'll never forget!"

Maluma also announced the news on Instagram with a parody video of Hugh Hefner explaining who "Don Juan" (Maluma's alter ego) is.

Presale for the shows begins on Thursday at 10 a.m. EST and the general ticket sale begins Friday at 10 a.m. EST at www.cmnevents.com .

Maluma last toured the U.S. in 2022 for his Papi Juancho Maluma World Tour, which was in support of his 2020 album Papi Juancho . Since then, he has released #7DJ and The Love & Sex Tapes .

In December, he shared a video that paid tribute to "Papi Juancho," a moniker he embraced and named his 2020 album after. Writing it's time to say goodbye to Papi Juancho "forever," he also introduced a new persona named "Don Juan." The move led fans to believe a new album is on the way, though a release date is yet to be announced.

Earlier this month, the singer joined Spotify's Billions Club, which is for songs that have been streamed 1 billion times. Maluma achieved this feat with his track "Hawái."

The announcement for the tour was a cheeky video of Hugh Hefner, the late founder of Playboy Magazine, who shared the news of the “Felices Los 4” singer’s tour via a hilarious Spanish voice-over parody.

“I took a year off from touring to focus on perfecting what I feel is the best album of my career, Don Juan ,” said Maluma via press release. “I can’t wait to perform the new songs from the album for my fans for the very first time, alongside my greatest hits, in what I consider to be my most ambitious concert production yet.”

The tour, which shares a name with Maluma’s upcoming album, will kick off in Sacramento, CA, on Aug. 31. From there, the tour will visit prestigious arenas such as The Forum in Los Angeles (Sep. 9), Madison Square Garden in New York (Oct 6), and the Kaseya Center in Miami (Nov. 4). 

With the new tour, Maluma is set to extend his record as one of the highest-selling Latine artists for concerts globally. His “Maluma World Tour” sold over one million tickets across 105 worldwide concerts in 2017 alone. As his star continued to rise, the Colombian singer continued to prove he had one of the hottest tickets with sold-out shows across the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, with concerts he held between 2021 and 2022.

Pre-sale tickets for Maluma’s Don Juan World Tour will go on sale beginning Thursday, May 25, at 10 a.m. local time. The general ticket sale will begin on Friday, May 26, at 10 a.m. local time via cmnevents.com .

Maluma Plots United States Tour for Fall

Colombian superstar Maluma has announced a United States tour that will tentatively kick off this fall.

The arena trek — which is arguably one of the biggest to be announced since the Covid-19 pandemic brought touring to a halt last year — is scheduled to start September 2nd at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. It will wrap on October 24th at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.

In a statement, per Billboard , Maluma said: “I couldn’t be more excited to announce my return to the concert stage. It’s what I have been dreaming about for months and we are going to celebrate together like never before. It’s going to be a celebration! This will be my fourth U.S. tour and I am planning a brand new show full of surprises for my fans and lots of new music off my last two albums Papi Juancho and 7DJ. ”

Tickets for the tour will go on sale on February 26th at 10 a.m. local time mainly via Ticketmaster (complete information is available on Maluma’s website ). Additionally, Maluma announced a pre-sale for fans on Instagram starting February 25th, while promoters CMN and WK Entertainment will have a pre-sale using the code “CMN, WKE.”

Maluma’s tour generally fits with the live entertainment industry’s hope that concerts and touring would be able to return by this fall. Still, with many uncertainties surrounding the safety of large gatherings during the pandemic, even as more people get vaccinated, CMN said it will “follow and comply with recommendations and guidelines imposed by governmental authorities and public health departments” throughout Maluma’s tour.

A popular rock band from the 1970s has had its tour bus stolen from a car park prompting police to issue an appeal. The Bay City Rollers, famed for hits including Bye, Bye Baby, Give A Little Love and I Only Want To Be With You, had their white Splitter van stolen in Walsall .

It was stolen from a car park in Bentley Road North, Bentley, Walsall, believed to have been linked to a Premier Inn, on Friday, September 13. The Scottish band said it had all their musical instruments, guitars, keyboards, drum kits, bass on board and ‘all our tartan’.

The group were headed that day to a gig at Trading Boundaries, a venue in Sheffield Green, East Sussex, some 200 miles away. The band had stayed in Walsall and despite the theft said they would still make the gig saying ‘the show must go on’.

The group later posted on their social media catching trains down to East Sussex, with the Trading Boundaries venue hiring musical equipment so they could play. But they are now appealing to find their white Ford van registration number: BX62 DMU. The road it was taken from is near the Black Country Route and close to Junction 10 of the M6.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after a van was stolen from a car park in Bentley Road North, Bentley, Walsall, last Friday (September 13). The van was being used as a tour bus for a musical group, and as a result, dozens of musical instruments were also stolen.

“This includes custom drum kits, microphones, and personal belongings. We have reviewed CCTV footage, and are pursuing lines of enquiries to assist our investigation.

“The van was on BX62 DMU registration plates and anyone with any information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website or call 101 quoting 1160 of 13 Sept.”

Kurgan - Overview

Kurgan is a city in Russia located almost in the center of Eurasia, about 2,060 km east of Moscow, the administrative center of Kurgan Oblast. It is one of the most important economic, scientific, and cultural centers of the Ural Federal District, a major transport hub.

The population of Kurgan is about 304,700 (2022), the area - 393 sq. km.

Brief history of kurgan.

It is believed that Kurgan was founded by the peasant Timofey Nevezhin in the second half of the 17th century. He built his hut on the bank of the Tobol River near a large mound (“kurgan” in Russian), an ancient Sarmatian grave. Soon other settlers reached this picturesque place with fertile land. In 1695, the settlement was moved 8 km downstream and was named Tsaryovo-Kurganskaya sloboda.

In 1710, the population of the settlement was 456 people. Due to its border position, it quickly turned into a military fortress protecting the Southern Urals from raids. In 1738, the settlement was named Kurganskaya Sloboda. With the further development of regions located further south and east, the settlement lost its defense significance and began to develop as an administrative and commercial center.

In 1782, Empress Catherine II signed a decree on the formation of the Tobolsk Governorate, which included the Kurgan district. Kurganskaya Sloboda received the status of a town with the name Kurgan. In 1818, the first town hospital was opened. In 1830, a fire station with an observation tower was built. This building has survived to this day.

Given the remoteness from the center of Russia, Kurgan was used by the authorities as a place of exile. Apparently, this began even under Peter I. Johan Peter Falk, a Swedish botanist, who visited the settlement in 1771, wrote that its northern part was separated from the southern part by a wooden wall and was called Swedish sloboda. From 1830, exiled Decembrists lived in Kurgan.

More Historical Facts…

Over time, this town became a center of trade in agricultural products and livestock (bread, lard, meat, butter, leather). The industry was represented mainly by agricultural processing enterprises. In 1856, there were 3,576 people living in Kurgan. The town had two stone churches and 7 stone houses.

In 1897, through Kurgan, railway traffic was opened from Chelyabinsk to Irkutsk in connection with the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway. After it, the town began to actively develop. In 1897, the population of Kurgan was 10,063 people.

After the outbreak of the First World War, all German and Austrian citizens living in Kurgan were arrested. In September 1914, the first Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war arrived in Kurgan: 25 officers and 3,000 soldiers. By 1917, the population of Kurgan totaled about 40 thousand people. During the Russian Civil War, power in Kurgan changed several times.

On March 29, 1927, the city council was discussing the renaming of the city of Kurgan to Krasinsk after Leonid Krasin (People’s Commissar of Foreign Trade from 1920 to 1924). It was decided to leave the city its original name, since it was not associated with the tsarist government and renaming was expensive. In 1939, the population of Kurgan was 53,253 people.

During the Second World War, 15 industrial enterprises and about 20 thousand people were evacuated from the western regions of the USSR to Kurgan. In 1942, the Stalingrad Military Tank School was evacuated to Kurgan. It was stationed in the city until July 1944. During this time, more than 2,000 tank officers were trained in it.

On February 6, 1943, a separate Kurgan Oblast was formed from 32 districts of Chelyabinsk Oblast and 4 districts of Omsk Oblast. The city of Kurgan became its administrative center. In 1956, its population was about 106,000 people.

On January 4, 1958, the first bus was produced by the Kurgan Bus Plant (KAvZ). On January 20, 1982, the number of buses produced reached 200,000. Today, about 20% of all buses in Russia were produced in Kurgan. In 1989, the population of Kurgan was about 355,000 people.

In March 1998, the current emblem and flag of Kurgan were adopted. Since the beginning of the 2000s, the population of Kurgan began to continuously decline. By 2020, it has decreased by about 15%.

Kurgan - Features

Kurgan is located east of the Ural Mountains, in the southwest of the West Siberian Plain, in the middle basin of the Tobol River. The height above sea level is about 75 m. This city is considered the gateway to Siberia.

The climate of the city is temperate continental with cold, not snowy winters and hot, dry summers. The Ural Mountains prevent the passage of moist air masses. The average temperature in January is minus 15.2 degrees Celsius, in July - plus 19.8 degrees Celsius.

The most important sectors determining the development of the local industrial complex are mechanical engineering and metalworking, as well as the medical industry. The largest mechanical engineering companies are Kurgan Bus Plant, Kurgan Engineering Plant (BMP-2, BMP-3, etc.), Kurgan Road Equipment Plant (road construction and municipal vehicles).

Kurgan provides transport links between the European and Asian parts of Russia. The federal highway M51 “Irtysh” passes through the city connecting the cities of Chelyabinsk, Omsk, and Novosibirsk. The R327 highway connects Kurgan with Kostanay (Kazakhstan), the R354 highway connects it with Yekaterinburg.

The Trans-Siberian Railway passes through Kurgan connecting the cities of Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Vladivostok. The airport of Kurgan offers regular flights to Moscow.

A lot of beautiful old houses have been preserved in Kurgan. In total, there are more than 100 objects of cultural heritage including 4 objects of cultural heritage of federal significance. Most of the old houses can be seen on the streets of Sovetskaya, Kuibysheva, and Klimova that make up the historic city center.

Main Attractions of Kurgan

Kurgan Regional Museum of Local Lore . This museum has a rich collection of exhibits telling about the history, flora and fauna of the Urals, customs, lifestyle, culture of the peoples living in the region. There is a collection of fossils. In the historical part of the exposition, you can see archaeological artifacts dating from the Iron Age. Pushkina Street, 137.

Kurgan Regional Art Museum - one of the main cultural centers of Kurgan. The collection of the museum consists of almost 9 thousand works of artists, sculptors, graphic artists, masters of decorative art. The paintings created by P. Konchalovsky, A. Deineka, Yu. Razumovskaya, S. Luppov are exhibited here, as well as the collection of watercolors, in which the wonderful works of L. Bruni and A. Fonvizin stand out. Gorkogo Street, 129.

Museum of Aviation . The exposition is located on the territory of the Kurgan Airport. The most interesting exhibits are 15 civilian and military aircraft. Other exhibitions present flight simulators, uniforms of pilots, and various equipment. There are also separate exhibtions dedicated to the history of aviation with documents, photographs, and awards of pilots. Gagarina Street, 41.

House Museum of the Decembrists . The museum is located in the house where the Decembrist M.M. Naryshkin lived with his family from 1833 to 1837. As a result of restoration, you can see the 19th century interiors of the rooms of the owners of the house, living room, dining room, and library. For decades, its employees have been collecting a unique collection of items that once belonged to the Naryshkin family. A lot of valuable exhibits were handed over by their descendants: dishes, clothes, and home textiles. Klimova Street, 80A.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (1896-1902) - the main Orthodox church in Kurgan and Kurgan Oblast. The architectural style of this building combines Romanesque and Old Russian traditions, creatively redesigned in the manner of “brick architecture” popular in those days. Volodarskogo Street, 42.

Old Fire Station (1882). A wooden 27-meter high hexagonal watch-tower of this fire station is one of the symbols of Kurgan and a very picturesque monument of architecture. On the top of the tower you can see a mannequin firefighter. Kuybysheva Street, 62.

The most interesting old houses of Kurgan are The House of Engineer F.F. Ostapets (one of the most beautiful wooden buildings in Kurgan resembling a small castle, Pushkina, 85), The House of A.A. Danilushkin (a unique example of an apartment building in the “Russian style” of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, Gorkogo Street, 170), The House of Merchant K.M. Dunaev (one of the most elegant wooden houses in Kurgan, Klimova Street, 47), The Estate of Merchants Berezins (the only urban stone manor east of the Urals that has preserved a closed courtyard with outbuildings and a central house in the style of Russian late classicism, Kuybysheva Street, 59).

Also Kurgan has a philharmonic society (Troitskaya Square, 1A), a drama theater (Gogolya Street, 58), and a puppet theater (Sovetskaya, 104).

The comments of our visitors

I visited Kurgan last year for a whole month! We took the train from Moscow, and arrived in Kurgan 36 hours later. I liked many parts of the City, which appears to have improvements on the go.

I like the huge red fire engine, never seen anything like it before. Opposite the tank factory was this huge shop complex which was quite impressive.

The only thing I noticed was that we made NO new friends! Is not like London I suppose, and perhaps people are more conservative. Generally in Russia the streets are virtually spotless, and Kurgan was no exception.
