This Bakery Chain Is So Much Better Than Whatever You're Eating

Don't let its french name fool you—it didn't start in europe..

I'm not a big birthday person, but it's become a tradition that every year that I ask for a cake from a very specific bakery. I love this establishment so much that I'm getting excited just thinking about it, even though my birthday is in April. I'm a big proponent of supporting local bakeries and restaurants, but in the case of this very large bakery chain, I make an exception. No, I don't buy a Cookie Puss from Carvel. I pick up a cake from Tous Les Jours .

What is Tous Les Jours?

The name is French (it translates to "every day"), but Tous Les Jours was actually founded in South Korea, and currently has more than 1,650 locations worldwide. It sells a wide array of pastries, sandwiches, and coffee, and everything is made in-house every day, hence the name.

I'm particularly enamored with Tous Les Jour's sweet-potato -flavored goods, such as buns and, yes, my beloved birthday cake . These items all feature a unique East Asian sweet potato with off-white flesh called goguma, which has a delicately sweet flavor. Though sweet potato might seem like an unusual and starchy flavoring for a cake filling, the light touch of its sweetness is,  I'm telling you , out of this world.

The savory items are worth exploring, too. You can get sausage buns, chicken salad sandwiches, BLTs, lots of stuff that makes a quick and satisfying lunch. There are also loaves of bread if you're serving a crowd, as well as a mind-boggling array of buns and coffee drinks to pair with them. It's a far cry from the sad little vacuum-sealed offerings at those lunchtime grab-and-go-type spots scattered around most major American cities.

If you've never had Asian pastries, be aware that they aren't tooth-achingly sweet (though there's plenty of sugar involved). The cakes, unlike the  typical grocery store offerings , are more fluffy and spongy than they are dense. You usually won't find these items too cloying; they're just enough, and it leaves you craving more.

Where to find Tous Les Jours

As a chain, Tous Les Jours isn't quite as ubiquitous as  the likes of Panera  in the United States. Locations are mostly clustered around major metropolitan areas: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta. So you urban dwellers have easier access than those in smaller towns—for now. If we all hype this chain, maybe it will have the chance to grow outward. Can you imagine a world free of sad sandwiches at lunch?

If any of you have been to a Tous Les Jours, sound off in the comments. I could use a recommendation for what to grab the next time I'm in, because I have to make sure I don't cave and get the cake (gotta keep it special by only ordering it once a year).

Pastry fans will say 'oui' to Tous les Jours' baked goods

The dizzying arrays of pretty pastries at Tous les Jours — French for “every day” — aren't an acquired taste. In fact, those sweet and savory, crowd-pleasing treats seem engineered to generate love at first bite. But getting that first bite hasn't always been easy at frequently busy Tous les Jours, a newcomer attached to The City apartment complex near the Ohio State campus.

Frankly, Tous les Jours was so regularly packed with customers when it opened at the end of last year that I almost wondered if its shoppers thought the end of the world was near, too. If crowds have become more manageable lately, this branch of the South Korea-based, website-described “bakery & cafe franchise specializing in French-Asian-inspired baked goods” remains a super magnet for pastry fans.    

Flavorful fare: Mehak Indian Kitchen & Bar brings even more flavor to Columbus Square

My advice: Try visiting the gleaming white cafe/bakery with lounge-like seating before noon on weekdays. Whether on a grab-and-go mission or hanging out with a very milky cappuccino ($4.25) or a purple ube latte ($5) tasting of cereal milk, an early-bird strategy has presented short or nonexistent lines on recent pop-ins. 

Tous les Jours operates like a bakery shop where everything is tempting, so I recommend perusing the myriad options before piling up goodies, which is done with the grab-your-own white plastic trays and tongs awaiting patrons near the entrance.

Perusers able to look beyond the showcased beauties will notice brutally honest cards providing calorie counts and ingredient lists for most items. It’d be interesting to study their effect. Because the appearance of ingredients like margarine, soy lecithin and “skim milk powder” didn’t seem to slow any shoppers down during my visits. This included me, but I was, you know, doing research.

Unless you want a meal of exclusively sweet pastries (I salute everybody this describes), head to the heated case of savory pastries . That standalone box resides beside refrigerated beverage cases facing the counter along the wall lined with shelved goods.  

The selection of freshly baked savories will vary (ditto for sweets) but the kid-friendly croque monsieur ($4.50) is usually available. It's essentially a grilled American cheese sandwich with ham, sweet notes and crispy toasted Japanese milk-style bread with one blistered-cheese exterior. Comparing this irresistible, populist riff to its fancier and more decadent classic French antecedent (which features Gruyere, Parmesan and bechamel) made me think about Cyndi Lauper entertainingly singing opera.

The sausage onion pastry ($3.95), which invites comparison with an oversized pig in a blanket, could’ve been called a “hog on a cot.” It’s a whole smoky frankfurter nestled into a flaky, golden-brown pastry “bun” garnished with ketchup, mayo and chopped onions. Sure, this might make a Chicago-style hot dog zealot cry, but I was smiling.

Mushroom tart fans should target the mushroom onion cheese pastry ($3.75), which has a characteristic-for-this-place flaky, gently crinkly and slightly sweet glazed base. This was the most impressive savory item I tasted. 

Both the kimchi croquette ($3.25) and curry croquette ($3.25, with a veggie stew-like filling) evoked savory jelly doughnuts with soft-yet-nubby exteriors. Both were enjoyable, and the kimchi croquette was surprisingly spicy.

Moving to sweet treats, and more Korean-Parisian fun, the honey cheese mochi pancakes ($4.50 for three) are basically hotteok — lovable, little Korean-style pancakes — with a sticky honey glaze and light, cream cheese filling.

The sweet potato pie ($2.95) encased in puff pastry and the delightfully chewy “sweet rice donut” ($2.50; think glutinous doughnut hole with adzuki bean filling) provided more textural entertainment and easy-to-like flavors. So did the very respectable, pre-wrapped cream butter scone ($3.75) and a light, airy confection with strawberry shortcake flavors called “spoonable” strawberry cake ($8).

The crustier, sweet cheese and blueberry Danish ($3.75) and alluringly intense “chocolate avalanche” ($3.50) were standout French-forward pastries I could eat, umm, “tous le jours.” I wonder if my doctor would sign off on that?

Came here on a whim because I needed a cake fast for visiting some family. I didn't want a standard cake from a grocery store so decided to give this cute bakery chain a try. First of all, it's in the supermarket on your left hand side when you walk in. The staff were so helpful in helping me decide and don't get annoyed with the questions I had which I so appreciated. I got the blueberry yogurt cake and it's a VERY light fluffy cake inside and not too sweet. This was a winner for sure we all loved it. What we loved even more was how beautifully they package their cakes. They even give you a cake knife, candles, and matches which was such a cute touch.

Service was great! My son. Called and inquired if they have any birth cake left for sale since he didn't order one in advance. The man over the phone told my son yes. And he also place a hold for my son. When we arrived at the shop, we saw the cake was packed and placed in a beautiful box. We were so happy and impressed with the service! The cake was also delicious! Highly recommend this place!

Oddly found myself at Tous Les Jours, it's in a supermarket, so it took me a moment to figure out directions. Very interesting set up, but the shop itself was super cute. I ordered a pumpkin macchiato and it was delicious! All the baked goods looked yummy and fresh ones were being put out, as it was around 9 am when I visited. I also bought a purple potato bread (for Halloween sandwhiches) and though it was good, it was a bit dry. I would not let my one item keep me from trying more pastries or goods here!

(2/6/2024) I stopped in to Lotte to get some groceries and was lured in by the shiny cases of pastries from this South Korean chain bakery. It's serve yourself from the cases, but the checkout wait is quite the process, to wrap each pastry, which is nice and all, but does back up the checkout line. The pastries are really very good, though. They're flaky (not quite over the top buttery like I've had at small batch European bakeries) and filled with delectable fillings, not too sweet, it is "French-Asian inspired" after all.

By far, Tous Les Jours, is one of my favorite bakery/cafe. I remembered trying their classic Milk Bun for the first time from a former co-workers...she brought it back from Georgia...and let me tell you, it was pure goodness. The cafe is very cutely designed and displayed with a vibe of chic. But the highlight would be the baked goods. The cakes are beautifully decorated and taste wonderful l. And it is not your typical sugar overload dessert either. The amount of sweetness is definitely just right...one bite leads to an addiction so be warned.

Located inside the Lotte Plaza Market, this little bakery is packed full of French-Asian (Korean) inspired goodies. I don't do well in places like this, meaning, I don't have much self-control in places like this. It reminds me of the bakeries in South Korea, with an intoxicating aroma and every package is glistening and twinkling in the light every so gently whispering "BUY ME!" LOL. According to their website, the company was established in 2004 and now boasts 70 stores in the US and 1650 locations worldwide. I popped into Lotte Plaza Market for a quick stop to get some things on the way to our final destination, and unfortunately for me, I was with my impatient family. Fortunately for my wallet, since I was on a time crunch, I swa Tous Les Jours as I was cashing out and feeling the gaze of my family's eyes, I just grabbed a few things I knew and made my way to the exit. I grabbed a couple of honey castellas (sponge cake) and the mocha cake. Both were just as I expected, light and fluffy! The mocha cake is slightly more moist and with a hint of coffee. If I lived nearby, I would be in deep, deep trouble! When I visit Orlando again, I'll go to both the market and the bakery by myself so I can take my time in looking around and indulging! I come here for the honey-cheese mochi pancakes and their twist donuts, which are absolutely amaaaazing. I only took off one star because they don't individually wrap their twist donuts, causing them to dry out later on in the day. The location at LOTTE Market individually wraps them, so it doesn't matter what time of day you grab them, they are never dry and they never disappoint. Customer Service is always 5/5

So much carb-y goodness. If you are not a pastry lover, than go ahead and stop reading this review now. If you are a lover of pastries and baked goods, do yourself a favor and go inside the Lotte market and go to Tous Les Jours. These are not your normal American pastries, they are some of the more popular Asian pastries. Garlic croissant, garlic cream cheese buns, spicy sausage croissant, mochi buns, and more. They also have cakes and macarons. They are all delicious and they are all quality. You can easily spend over $30 just trying to sample everything. They have recently expanded and now offer more options and have a small seating area. I highly recommend giving them a try.

I ordered a mocha cake for my dad's birthday. It was amazing. I think this will be the store that I'm going to order cake for special event from now on. Can't make it 5 stars because the staff confused me. I asked a guy if I could request to lower the sweetness, he told me it shouldn't be a problem. The a few days later, I called to make my order, I had been told by a different person that I couldn't request what I want. I mean I didn't try to change your recipe, I just want to lower the sweetness since the cake was for somebody couldn't handle too much sugar. luckily, because I ordered the mocha flavor so it's not too sweet, I don't think I can order anything else.

Called Today to order a cake for tomorrow and the lady said i had to do it 2 days in advanced. she was kind of standoffish. i called the one on kirkman road and she happily took my order.

Consistent with prior practices, public White House tour requests must be submitted a minimum of 21 days in advance and no more than 90 days in advance of the requested tour date(s). Reservations cannot be accepted for tour dates outside this 21 – 90-day window.  

Public tours are typically available from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, excluding Federal holidays or unless otherwise noted. If your tour is confirmed, please note that you will be assigned a specific time.  All White House tours are free of charge. The White House tour schedule is subject to change, with little notice, based on inclement weather or official use.

Getting Here

Use of public transportation is strongly encouraged, as there is no parking available on the White House complex and street parking is limited. The closest Metrorail stations to the White House are Federal Triangle (blue and orange lines), Metro Center (blue, orange, silver, and red lines), and McPherson Square (blue, orange, and silver lines).

The White House Tour entrance is located in Sherman Park at 15th Street NW and Alexander Hamilton Place NW. If arriving by rideshare, use the White House Visitor Center (WHVC) as the drop-off address. The WHVC is located at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20230, which is one block from the White House.

Restrooms are located at the White House Visitors Center, located at 1450 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20230. There are no restrooms available once you arrive for your tour.

Accessibility

The White House tour route is wheelchair accessible. Visitors who wish to use a White House wheelchair should notify a U.S. Secret Service officer upon arrival.

Guide animals are permitted in the White House.

Health and Safety Guidance

Guests who receive a confirmed tour reservation will be issued a White House Tour Pass ahead of their tour date containing pertinent health and safety guidance.

Know Before You Go

• Tours are self-guided and last approximately 45 minutes
• Eat a snack and stay hydrated prior to arrival.
• Dress for the weather, knowing you will be outside before your tour.
• Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.
• No late arrivals are accepted.
• All guests must be previously registered via the RSVP link provided by the White House.
• Please silence your cell phone and refrain from phone calls during the tour.
• No flash photography or video recording is permitted during your tour.

Visiting the USS Constitution Museum offers a captivating journey into American maritime history. Located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, the museum provides an immersive experience that highlights the legacy of “Old Ironsides,” the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat. Through engaging exhibits, interactive displays, and a wealth of artifacts, visitors can explore the ship’s storied past, its pivotal role in the War of 1812, and the lives of the sailors who served on it.

Regular Hours: Open Daily | 9:30 am – 5:00 pm 

Museum Admission : The Museum has a suggested admission of $10 – $15 for Adults – $5 – $10 for Children

*The Museum is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to keep its door open.
