Jordan - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips
Located at the crossroads of Asia , Africa , and Europe , Jordan is a representation of all of the intersections that occur in that crossroads. Once home to Romans and Ottomans, holidays to Jordan will bring you its rich history and culture filled with color, heart, and vibrancy. Bordered by Iraq, Iran , Saudi Arabia, and Israel , a trip to Jordan has something for all travel bugs.
Tour Highlights
- Visit the ancient Nabataean city of Petra, and go back in time to when things were a little simpler; if that’s not enough, it’s a modern Wonder of the World.
- Experience the viciously natural cycle of Wadi Rum, a desert that is a day away from Aqaba and Petra.
- Swim with the fishes in the Red Sea.
- See wildlife and scenery that is ancient while remaining timeless at the Dana Biosphere Reserve.
- Live in the dichotomy of the city of Amman ; urbane and modern in the West, and earthy and ancient in the East.
Travel Tips
- Other than covering yourself appropriately — men with legs covered and women with arms, legs, and hair covered —there aren’t many customs that you need to worry about.
- It is a very safe place to be; none of the revolts or riots have spilled over from its neighbors. However, being a tourist, one needs to follow the usual safety precautions.
- Bring good walking shoes and breathable clothing; it’s hot and you’re going to be doing a lot of walking.
- Water is safe to drink, although it is heavily chlorinated so it might taste bad; just to be safe, stick with bottled water and pasteurized milk.
- Be aware of your sun limits; the sun is brutal and you could get badly sunburnt, or worse, pass out from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
- If you need it, healthcare in Jordan is generally good, and there are hospitals in big cities and clinics in smaller villages.
Jordan has seasonal weather so please do check up on best time to visit Jordan before planning your tour. If you’re still hunting for more things to do and places to explore in Jordan, do check out our Jordan Travel Guide for more information.

Jordan tours — Top destinations to visit
- Unveil the hidden jewel of Amman: Discover the traditional and conservative energy of Jordan's hilly capital, which is home to world-class museums, labyrinthine souks, and beautiful Islamic architecture. Amman is a charming, underrated travel destination that can introduce you to Jordan’s rich heritage. Visit the Jordan Archeological Museum and the city's Citadel. Visit the Royal Automobile Museum nearby the Roman Theater, or the Jordan Museum to learn more about the country’s past. Then, escape Amman's chaotic traffic and unwind on Rainbow Street before exploring the city's vibrant nightlife.
- Travel back in time to Petra: Petra, also known as the "Rose City," thrives with its multicolored sandstone and authentic Nabatean architecture in the windswept landscape of southern Jordan. The city draws lots of hikers, nature lovers, and, of course, those seeking an escape from the hectic modern lifestyle. From the Obelisk Tomb and Bab AL-Siq Tricilinium, begin your 1200-meter journey and pause at the Al-Khazneh Treasury, then continue your hike along the Wadi Farusa trail while marveling at the royal tombs and admiring the Treasury from the Jebel Al-Khubtha Trail. You can also visit Colonnaded Street, the Great Temple, the Petra Churches, and Little Petra while on a tour of Petra .
- Enjoy a rejuvenating dip in the Dead Sea: The Dead Sea, which borders Jordan and Israel, is 67 kilometers long and 18 kilometers wide, boasting a stunning location. At this exceptional location, you can enjoy relaxing activities like soaking in thermal hot springs, thrilling hike-swims, and much more, in addition to simply relaxing in the water. Unwind in the waters of the lowest point on Earth while enjoying therapeutic spa services that have a distinct Dead Sea feel. On a wet hike, visit the ruins of Mukawir and explore the Wadi Mujib canyon. Visit Lot's Cave Monastery and Sodom and Gomorrah on the way to the Lisan Peninsula. And do not forget to take a dip in the Hammamat Ma'in Thermal Springs and sit on a ridge to admire the expansive Dead Sea panorama.
- Follow the steps of Jesus Christ at Holy Land: A revitalizing Holy Land tour not only satisfies your spiritual aspirations and curiosities but also allows you to experience its historical significance. A trip to the Holy Land is not complete without going to the Great Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Visit Mount Nebo, where Moses could see Canaan, and rediscover Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized. Swing by Jabar Mar-Elias, the site of Elijah's ascension, or take the Jordan Trail past the ruins of Gadara, the site of the Gadarene swine miracle. If you really want to get lost in the stories of the Bible, head to Jordan and stay in Amman, Jerash, Tel Mar Elias, or Pella.
- Discover the thrilling adventures of Wadi Rum: In southern Jordan, near the Saudi Arabian border, this 74,200-hectare reserve flourishes as a mixed cultural and natural site. Explore Wadi Rum and its narrow gorges, ramps, natural arches, massive landslides and caverns, and towering cliffs are evidence of millions of years of landscape evolution. Camel rides, hikes, 4WD rides, camping, and a variety of other exciting activities are available among these shifting desert landscapes. While camping in Wadi Rum, you can stargaze and watch the landscape change throughout the night. Climb the beautiful Little Bridge or Burdah rock bridge for a breathtaking view of the desert. Hike through the canyon of Abu Khashaba and eat a traditional Bedouin lunch. Sandboarding on the Al Hasany dunes is a must-do activity.
- Tick off the highlights in Madaba: Visit Madaba , a friendly market town, that is known for its collection of Byzantine-era mosaics and has one of Jordan's largest Christian populations. This vibrantly colored city encompasses numerous attractions through its historical sites and offers a hearty Jordanian experience. Visit St. George's Church to see the amazing Mosaic map and the Church of Apostles to see the inscribed figures of 12 apostles. View the entire city and the Jordan River from the top of Mount Nebo, or visit Carpet City for the best quality and most beautiful carpets. And if you happen to be in Madaba on a Friday, you will be able to witness the town's long tradition of joyfully and loudly expressing its religious tolerance at dawn.

Jordan Tours in 2024 & 2025
Long a crossroads of culture, Jordan is home to heaps of archaeological ruins from some of the world’s most important civilizations. Before the Romans built an amphitheatre in Amman and colonnaded streets in Jerash, the mysterious Nabataeans carved an entire city straight into the sandstone. Petra is a highlight of Jordan, but the country also has a stash of natural wonders, from the desert sands of Wadi Rum to world-class diving in the Red Sea and floating on the Dead Sea’s salty waters.
Our Jordan tour reviews
Jordan tour photos from our travellers, jordan travel faqs, do i need a visa to visit jordan.
Visa requirements may change, for the most up-to-date information we recommend using our Entry Requirements tool . Alternatively, check the Jordanian embassy website in your country of departure.
What vaccines are required for Jordan?
Recommended vaccinations include hepatitis a, rabies, and tetanus.
As advice can often change, you can check out our Entry Requirements tool for the most up-to-date details on vaccination requirements.
When’s the best time to visit Jordan?
Summers in Jordan can be absolutely roasting, so Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are more pleasant when it comes to temperatures.
75% of the country’s rainfall falls from December to March, but this is still a good time to visit as there are fewer crowds and prices are lower.
What’s the weather like in Jordan?
Summers (June to August) are blisteringly hot, with temperatures reaching around 40°C (104°F) — expect 13 hours of sunshine at this time too.
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) see temperatures averaging around 25 to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), with dry weather throughout.
Winter (December to March) sees 75% of annual rainfall — particularly in the lush northern part of the country — and sometimes even snow. Temperatures tend to stay around the 5°C to 10°C (41°F to 50°F) mark, but it can get below freezing at night, particularly in the desert.
Is there tipping in Jordan?
While on tour in the Middle East, it is customary and even expected to tip small service providers such as restaurant and bar waiters, hotel staff, reception, cleaning personnel, bell boys, taxis, and van drivers. Tips are regarded as an essential means of supplementing income for those working in the tourism industry.
There are several times during the trip where there's an opportunity to tip the local guides or drivers we use. You may do this individually, or your CEO will offer to collect the money and tip as a group.
Tipping your G Adventures CEO is also very much appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference; however, as a guideline, USD $11-13 per person, per day is our recommendation in the region. If you felt your CEO did an especially outstanding job, any additional amount is always welcome.
What’s internet access like in Jordan?
Jordan has very good internet access all over the country — particularly in large towns and cities like Amman. In rural areas, expect it to be more limited.
Are there ATMs in Jordan?
ATMs are widely available in large cities and towns, and both Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. We’d recommend bringing both if possible as some ATMs will only accept one variety. Check with your bank to see how much you may be charged for withdrawals — consider bringing cash in USD, Euros, or GBP too.
As currency exchange rates can fluctuate often, we ask that you refer to www.xe.com for daily exchange rates.
Is Jordan LGBTQ+-friendly?
Jordan is more liberal than many of its Middle-Eastern counterparts, and same-sex relationships here are legal. However, much of the country outside of Amman is still fairly conservative, so we’d recommend using discretion and avoiding public displays of affection.
As part of their commitment, all CEOs receive LGBTQ+ inclusion training so every traveller feels respected and welcomed on all of our tours. We commit to making our tours a safe and inclusive place for people to express their authentic selves without judgment, free from any discriminatory language or harassment.
While travelling with G Adventures, all travellers must treat each other with dignity and respect to create an environment that is positive, safe, and where everyone feels welcome. You can find out more via our LGBTQ+ travel page .
What language do they speak in Jordan?
Arabic is the official language of Jordan, and the majority of the population speak it here. English is also widely spoken by much of the population — particularly in the capital.
Is the tap water in Jordan safe to drink?
While opinions vary in cities like Amman, the general rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t really drink the tap water in Jordan as a traveller. Stick to bottled water, which costs around 0.35 JOD.
Please note however that all drinks provided on our tours are safe to drink (including drinks with ice), as well as the water in most hotels and restaurants visited on tour. If in doubt, please ask your CEO for further info.
Is Jordan safe?
Generally speaking, Jordan is a very safe country in which to visit — particularly within tourist areas.
However, that said, it always pays to be aware of petty crime (like pickpocketing), tourist scams, and touts — particularly in larger cities. It’s uncommon, but female travellers might also attract some unwarranted attention. Dress modestly and you should be fine.
G Adventures takes all reasonable measures to ensure your safety and enjoyment while travelling with us. All of the included activities are properly vetted and regularly checked by us, and we take great care in choosing the right transportation, stays throughout your trip, and guides to lead your tour. However, there are always inherent risks when travelling — you can find out more via our travel safety page .

We had a great time on our 4-day tour of Jordan. Our driver, Mohammed, was wonderful – very kind and welcoming, knowledgeable, and he went out of his way to make sure we had a great trip. The Dead Sea was beautiful and relaxing, Petra was stunning, Wadi Rum was an amazing experience, and Aqaba City was a fun place to explore. Overall, it was a fantastic trip and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Jordan.

Jeremy Clarkson says he's 'too old and too fat to get into the cars I like'

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the reasons behind ending his long-running partnership with Richard Hammond and James May .
The trio, known for their work together since 2002 on BBC’s Top Gear and later on Amazon’s The Grand Tour, will conclude their on-screen collaboration with an upcoming special titled One for the Road.
Clarkson, who is currently experiencing renewed success with Clarkson’s Farm, discussed his decision to step back from the car shows in an interview with The Sunday Times.
He said, "After 36 years of talking about cars on television, I’m packing it in because I’m too old and fat to get into the cars that I like and not interested in driving those I don’t."
This decision marks the end of his 22-year collaboration with Hammond and May.
Clarkson said: "What this means of course is that my 22-year partnership with James May and Richard Hammond is now over. You can see our final road trip together on Amazon Prime very soon. It’s emotional."
Reflecting on how they chose to conclude their journey, he shared: "We thought long and hard about how we should end our 22-year partnership, but in the end, we just went to the end of the alphabet" and chose Zimbabwe as the setting for their final adventure.
He added, "There was another reason why we chose Zimbabwe, though. We would drive across it from east to west, as usual, but then we could cross the border and finish up where we began all those years ago: the Makgadikgadi salt pans in Botswana."
Clarkson said he was relieved expressed satisfaction that their partnership didn’t end "in a blizzard of outrage and tabloid headlines," but rather "landed safely and gently."
He acknowledged the emotional weight of the final moments on set, even though he admitted he didn’t shed a tear .
Speaking about the end of The Grand Tour: One For The Road, Clarkson said: “I’m not saying this in a derogatory way by any means but James has the emotions of a stone. “He just doesn’t do emotions, so there were no tears from him. Hammond, yes.
“I was surprisingly unemotional in a weird way because I can see James and Hammond any time I want to, they’re only a phone call away, and I’m sure we will.
“And I’ve done enough of the travel, I was worn out by it.”
He added that he “would have been emotional” with the crew but they work on his Prime Video show, Clarkson’s Farm, where he attempts to run his farm in the Cotswolds.
Clarkson said: “There I was with all these guys that I’ve known and worked with for 24 years and I said, ‘I’ll see you all on Monday morning’ because they all work on Clarkson’s Farm.
“I’m 100% convinced I would have been a lot more emotional without the farm show.” "Was it sad when the director called, ‘That’s a wrap,’ for the very last time? Yes, it was.
“Especially as some of the crew had been with us when we were there before. People think of Top Gear and The Grand Tour as being James, Richard and me. But it isn’t. We’ve had the same crews for years. We’ve all grown up together."
He also paid tribute to the crew members.
He said: "We’ve camped together. S*** our lungs out together, laughed our arses off together. These are the guys who really made those shows...”
The final Grand Tour episode will be available on Prime Video on September 13.

‘Men of War’ Review: A Delirious Doc About a Former Green Beret Trying to Overthrow the Venezuelan Government

The fog of war , men searching for meaning in senseless situations, and the fraught interplay of competing drafts of history are themes that have popped up quite a bit in documentaries and narrative features premiering at the fall festivals this year. None of these have been built on quite as mercurial and ever-shifting a foundation as Jen Gatien and Billy Corben ‘s documentary “ Men of War ,” a nothing-is-what-it-seems head trip about a former Green Beret who tried and failed to overthrow the Nicolás Maduro regime in Venezuela.
Jordan Goudreau knew he wanted to be in the U.S. Army since he was a kid obsessed with playing “war” and dressing in combat fatigues. The fact that he was Canadian did not dissuade him. He knew he would likely not get to see combat in the Canadian Army, so he trained to be a Green Beret in the U.S. Throughout “Men of War,” he talks with reverence about his time in warzones and still says that he wants to fight for, and even die for, anyone who is oppressed. That’s a little harder because the U.S. Army recommended he not be retained after his years of service due to signs of unresolved PTSD. Throughout the film, the fortysomething Goudreau speaks with such an intense, unblinking resolve, it’s like he lives “in the moment” perpetually. And though that can have its value, particularly in a combat situation, it’s clearly resulted in an inability to see the bigger picture at times. Related Stories ‘The Quiet Ones’ Review: A Terse and Brutal Heist Thriller About the Biggest Robbery in Danish History It’s Back to School for After Dark: Midnight Movies to Watch This September
As such, around 2019, upon entering into “contract work” — better known as mercenary work — he fell in with various members of the Venezuelan opposition to that nation’s government, ruled with an iron fist and flagrant disregard for democratic norms by Maduro. There was an ex-Hugo Chavez general who opposes Maduro named Cliver Alcala. There was Maduro’s outright rival, thought by many to have legitimately won a recent presidential election, Juan Guaido. And there was a Miami-penthouse-dwelling Venezuelan dissident named J.J. Rendon, who has a major thing for ninjas.
Gatien and Corben weave all these strands together in an engrossing tale, or rather, several competing narratives. There’s Goudreau, whose stated idealism undeniably was only part of why he got involved with these various figures’ plot to send a platoon of dissidents into Caracas to topple the government — the fact he was offered over $200 million for the mission was certainly a huge part of it. There’s Rendon and all the others interviewed for the film or captured in archival footage by Goudreau himself, who deliberately occupy a place of plausible deniability: If Goudreau’s coup attempt, Operation Gideon, had succeeded when it was launched in early 2020, they’d stand to gain. If it failed, they could deny involvement. (Spoiler alert: Operation Gideon did not succeed.)
No one is right and everyone is wrong here, and it’s a knot of plotting and backstabbing and misguided intentions and stated aims versus indifferent execution that makes what happened almost impossible to parse. And that’s the point, clearly. What is the truth when literally everyone involved is living their own separate version of the truth? There’s definitely a metaphor for the forever wars mindset in the U.S. for the past 20 years, of a feeling that some causes are worth pursuing even if you’re not sure why. But of course it turns out that some of the opposition forces here that Goudreau apparently believed in so much may have only wanted to enrich themselves: To weaponize people’s hatred of the Maduro regime and profit on that hatred to their own ends. There’s a suggestion that some of them are in fact covertly working for the regime.
Certainly, the Trump administration officials who decried Maduro endlessly to appeal to Venezuelan expat voters in South Florida had no real intention on any follow through. This is a portrait of what happens in the U.S. government when comms strategy replaces actual policy. You end up with something like Operation Gideon, not even a Bay of Pigs-level fiasco. More, as it was called at the time, a Bay of Piglets.
An unexamined life such as this can lead to a downward spiral. Twenty years of an unexamined national psyche can lead to catastrophe. For our nation, and others.
“Men of War” world premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. It is currently seeking U.S. distribution.

Culture and customs.
As a Muslim country, Jordan’s culture is quite conservative, although not as conservative as some other Middle Eastern countries. Western influences (particularly in Amman and other large cities) have infiltrated Jordanian society so Jordan now possesses a mix of Arabian customs amid modern ways of life. Due to immigration, Jordan now has a significant Palestinian and Iraqi population, adding to the cultural diversity of the country.
Despite the outside influences, Islamic traditions are strong in Jordan with spectacular mosques signalling the call to prayer five times a day, Ramadan being observed each year and some segregation of the sexes occurring.
The desert-dwelling Bedouin have a distinct culture of their own, drawing on traditions that have been passed down for centuries. Living a largely nomadic lifestyle, the Bedouin rely on the herding of animals and the creation of handicrafts in the absence of a fertile environment to farm. With a strong musical heritage, traditional instruments are played and time-honored traditions are continued.
Hospitality is a crucial element of Jordanian culture. Most visitors will be humbled by the kindness, sincerity and genuine care showed by Jordanians. Being welcomed into peoples’ homes is common, and can probably be attributed to the custom of welcoming strangers and sharing food when travelling in the unforgiving desert.
Eating and drinking
Intrepid believes that one of the best ways to experience a country is by eating! Whether you're sampling street food, savouring a cheap eat or indulging in a banquet, there are endless options to choose from wherever you are in the world. Featuring typical Middle Eastern ingredients like lamb, chickpeas, garlic and a range of aromatic herbs and spices, Jordanian cuisine is delicious.
Things to try in Jordan
Like many other Middle Eastern countries, a plate of shared breads and dips is a great way to begin a feast.
This traditional Bedouin dish of lamb and yoghurt is usually served with rice and bread. This is the national dish of Jordan, so definitely try it before you leave.
These small, sweet pastries made with honey and nuts will have you going back for more.
The coffee in Jordan is strong. Often spiced with a hint of cardamom, coffee is strongly linked to the famed Jordanian hospitality, so drink up – it would be rude not to!

Geography and environment
Jordan is made up of a staggeringly diverse range of natural environments. From stark deserts to towering mountains, fertile wetlands, coastal reefs and urban cities, journeying through Jordan provides changing scenery and varying conditions.
Sharing borders with Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Israel and the Palestinian Territories, Jordan mixes modern architecture with heritage-filled buildings, well-manicured streets with historic alleyways and impressive mansions with simple homes.
Modern, developed cities like Amman and Aqaba feature unique architecture, spectacular mosques, five-star hotels and resorts. Small villages with rustic housing populate the less-built-up rural areas and Bedouin tents made of goat hair can be found in desert areas.
History and government
Early history.
The country now known as Jordan was originally inhabited by the Nabataeans thousands of years ago. Over the centuries, Jordan has been a place conquered and inhabited by many different people including the Romans, Greeks, Assyrians, Ottoman Turks, Egyptians and Mamluks (people of Kurdish origins). All these influences can still be seen today in Jordan's ancient ruins, architecture, crafts and arts. Many battles were fought in Ancient Jordan, including the Christian crusaders who clashed with Islamic Forces in Jordan during the 11th and 12th centuries. The first Muslim Dynasty began with the Umayyad Empire in 661.
Recent history
In 1950, Jordan was renamed the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and in 1951, King Abdullah I was assassinated while visiting a mosque. His eldest son became king but was removed from his duties in 1952 due to mental illness. In 1953, his teenage son Hussein Ibn Talal became king, and continued to rule for over 40 years. In the 1960s, Jordan saw many immigrants arrive and settle – mainly Palestinians escaping the conflict in their homeland.
In 1999, King Abdullah II succeeded his father King Hussein and continues to rule Jordan now. His reign has been characterised by liberal policies, economic reforms and technological advances. His wife, Queen Rania of Jordan, has a visible public profile, is active in many social causes and is regarded internationally as a highly influential woman.

When is the best time to visit Jordan?
The weather in Jordan can get quite extreme. Overall, it tends to be hot during the day and cold at night (in desert areas, expect it to be extremely hot during the day and freezing at night). Yet during winter it can get bitterly cold, with snowfall occurring in some parts of the country.
Travelling during the summer months (June, July and August) can be challenging for those not accustomed to the heat, so visiting Jordan during spring and autumn is recommended for those who wish to escape the hotter temperatures.
Is tipping customary in Jordan?
Tipping is up to the individual in Jordan. Hotels and up-market restaurants typically add a surcharge that is included in bills, which is usually 10%. Rounding up bills and leaving spare change is a good idea when dining in smaller restaurants and when using taxis.
What is the internet access like in Jordan?
Internet access is growing rapidly in Jordan. Internet can usually be accessed from hotels and internet cafes in major cities. Expect little to no access in small towns, villages and other rural areas.
Can I use my mobile phone while in Jordan?
Mobile phone coverage is good in Jordan’s major cities and built-up areas like Amman and Aqaba. Expect limited to no phone coverage in more isolated areas like the desert. Ensure you have global roaming activated on your phone before leaving home.
What are the toilets like in Jordan?
Western-style toilets are common in modern hotels, malls and at popular tourist areas. Squat toilets are the standard throughout the rest of the country. Sometimes, you may need to pay and bring your own toilet paper when visiting public rest rooms.
Can I drink the water in Jordan?
Drinking water from taps in Jordan can be safe, depending on where you are. It's considered safe to drink water from modern hotels that have filtered water but perhaps not so from smaller establishments and in rural areas. For environmental reasons, try to use a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water. Peel fruit before eating and avoid ice in drinks.
Are credit cards accepted widely in Jordan?
Major credit cards are widely accepted by stores in Jordan. Smaller cafes and shops may not accept credit cards so ensure you carry enough cash to cover small purchases.
What is ATM access like in Jordan?
ATMs are common in Jordan’s main cities so finding one won't be a problem. Rural and remote areas typically will have less ATMs so be sure to carry enough cash for purchases when away from the city.
Is Jordan LGBTQIA+ friendly?
As a Muslim country, Jordan’s culture is quite conservative, although not as conservative as some other Middle Eastern countries. Homosexuality has been decriminalised in Jordan since 1951, and while Jordanians who identify as having an LGBTQIA+ identity will not be criminalised, many people continue to hide their sexuality or identity from their families and there is still a deep social stigma. As long as LGBTQIA+ travellers display some discretion and respect for local culture, particularly when visiting places outside of the major cities and tourist areas, they will have no problem visiting Jordan.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' immediate reaction after Jordan Love's painful injury
Jalen Hurts shows good sportsmanship!
Jedd Pagaduan
In a hard-fought battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers in Brazil, it was the Eagles that came out on top, 34-29, thanks in large part to the efforts of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley. But the game wasn't without its fair share of heart-stopping moments. One such moment came late in the game when Packers QB Jordan Love , in a last-ditch attempt to steal the game from underneath the Eagles, took a huge hit from Josh Sweat and crumbled down to the ground.
Love stayed a good few minutes on the ground while writhing in agony, and after the game, he didn't immediately leave the field, perhaps to regain his bearings. This then opened up the opportunity for Hurts to approach the Packers QB and make sure that he was alright following a concerning exit in the dying embers of the Eagles' win.
Game recognizes game, and Jalen Hurts certainly recognized how well Jordan Love played despite the Packers' defeat to the Eagles in Brazil. Love, before exiting the final two snaps of the game. Love completed 17 of his 34 passes on the night for 260 yards, while throwing two touchdowns against one interception. It may not have been the best night, but the 25-year-old showed that he can hold his own against a strong Eagles team.
Given how recent Love's injury is, it's not quite clear how severe the knock he picked up was. The NFL world is collective holding their breath as they await further information regarding the Packers QB's injury. Nonetheless, Love appeared to be in good spirits when Hurts approached him, which is at least a good sign after he went down in concerning fashion.
Jalen Hurts, Eagles begin their 2024 redemption tour on a good note
The Eagles' 2023 season still leaves a sort of bitter taste in their fans' mouths. They began the year with a 10-1 record, and they looked very poised to recapture the heights they reached in the previous season when they made it all the way to the Super Bowl and lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in excruciating fashion. But then they proceeded to win just one of their final six games of the year, knocking them down to second place in the division.
And then in the playoffs, the Eagles went down with a large and emphatic thud. They faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road and proceeded to get themselves demolished in a 32-9 beatdown. Jalen Hurts, in particular, was not having too good of a time to end the season, and the Eagles ship went sinking down along with him.
But a new season marks a new beginning, and the Eagles are hoping to put their poor play last season completely in the rearview mirror. Their Week 1 performance against the Packers may not have been the best, but Hurts appears to be back on track.
Hurts completed 20 of his 34 passes for a total gain of 278 yards, and he threw two touchdowns as well — matching Jordan Love in the process. He has to clean up his game, however, as he threw two picks and ran into his fair share of trouble on the field.
But a 1-0 start is a 1-0 start. The Eagles aren't going to complain about that. They will now look to continue their winning ways when they head back home to Lincoln Financial Field for Week 2 as they host the Atlanta Falcons.

HOW SCOTTIE GOT SO GOOD
Jordan Spieth’s season almost ended days before the Open Championship because of his bum wrist
In his first interview since undergoing surgery Aug. 21 on his left wrist, Jordan Spieth said he is hoping to be able to take full swings again by mid-November and felt confident he won’t miss any time when the 2025 PGA Tour season begins in January.
Spieth was a guest on Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz’ SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio program Wednesday and discussed the procedure he underwent as well as the rehabilitation process in his future.
“Should be plenty fine by the new year,” said Spieth, the first event he's eligible to compete in being the Sony Open Jan. 9-12. “I just don’t know if I’d be able to play any of the events in December as tune-ups [the unofficial Hero World Challenge or Grant Thornton Invitational] or anything. That seems like a stretch right now. But I’m also immobilized two weeks in, so everything feels like a stretch. So that’s what I’ve been told. I’ve also been told no one ever comes back too late.”
While having issues with the wrist as far back as 2017, it was in May 2023 when the three-time major champion said he felt something pop after playing with his son in his pool. After that, Spieth battled an injury in which a tendon in the wrist could become “dislocated” without warning. As time went on, it was happening more frequently, the prospect of it healing on its own with rest replaced with the reality that surgery would be necessary.
More From Golf Digest
Spieth held off having the procedure until the end of the PGA Tour regular season in August, in part hoping to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs and work his way into the top 50 on the points list to be eligible for all of the tour’s signature events in 2025. While earning a spot in the field for the first playoff event in Memphis, that’s where his season ended, as Spieth finished tied for 68th in the event and 66th on the FedEx Cup points list.
Mind you, Spieth wasn’t sure he would make it to the Playoffs at all, telling this story to Knost and Stoltz that made it sound like his season nearly ended in early July.
“There was one day, it was the Friday of John Deere this year where I actually texted Michael like, ‘Hey man, it came out last night, it hasn’t gone back in overnight, and I can’t do this. I gotta go get this thing fixed now,'” he said. “So that Friday of the John Deere, I was calling it quits actually. It was an afternoon tee time and I actually ended up getting to the range about 15 minutes before my time cause I finally got it in and just said let’s just see what happens here this week, and then I can reassess after if I play through the Open or whatever.”
While Spieth played in 22 events in 2024, he only posted three top-10 finishes. Interestingly, he had the best season of his career off the tee (13th in strokes gained) but ranked 131st in approach and 94th in putting. Spieth, who won the last of his 13-career titles at the 2022 RBC Heritage, acknowledged a nervousness when hitting shots around the green.
“More kind of ground impact, anytime I had up-slope shots,” he said. “I really didn’t wanna make any excuses for myself the whole year because it wasn’t hurting to hit the shot, and then I’d get into competition and then I’d just bail.”
“Hopefully I come back from this and I just don’t have to think about it,” Spieth said. “I know that may not be the case the first few months I get back into it. But from what I hear, I talked to a lot of different players who’ve had similar operations and a lot of guys across different sports and they’re like, ‘Look, one day you’ll wake up and if you’re patient enough, you do the right rehab, you listen to your docs and you take your time, there’ll be one day where you wake up and you’re like, man, I just totally forgot that there was ever an issue.’ So I look forward to that day. I don’t know when it’ll be, but I imagine hopefully that’ll be within the next four or five months and then I get back to being me.”

‘I'm that girl': The making of Jordan Chiles' Beyoncé-inspired gymnastics leotard
The star gymnast wanted her leotard to resemble an outfit beyoncé wore on tour. here's how the design, and all of team usa's garments for the paris olympics, came to life., by mike gavin • published july 18, 2024 • updated on july 30, 2024 at 9:15 pm.
The crowd in the arena watched as one Beyoncé song after another was played.
All eyes focused on centerstage — the music, the movements, the mystique of a world-class performer in her element. The lights from above sparkled off a bedazzled and vibrant outfit befitting only of a queen.
Philadelphia news 24/7: Watch NBC10 free wherever you are
"I'm that girl," Beyoncé has said. But on that night, that girl was Jordan Chiles .
The Team USA star transformed the mat at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships into a concert stage. During her floor routine, Chiles recreated the look, sound and vibe of Beyoncé's Renaissance world tour.

So much so that she asked GK Elite , the sportswear company that manufactures apparel for Team USA gymnastics , to design a custom leotard inspired by a highly expressive outfit worn on tour by Beyoncé.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce)
"It had more colors than anything we’ve ever seen on it," Matt Cowan, chief executive officer of GK Elite, said of the leotard. "It was truly like a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns and prints."
Across the chest of the leotard are red and pink stripes that are complemented by blue, orange, green and pink checkered patterns. That array of colors is embellished by roughly 4,400 crystals -- including the garment's focal point, a front jewel replicating the customized necklace and body chain worn by Beyoncé.
"We were like this is really cool, something different," said Kelly Christman, GK Elite’s vice president of gymnastics. "It's not necessarily something we would normally see from our teams or our athletes, but it was individually her. She kind of sets her tone as she's fun, she's bold, she's 'That girl.’"
Becoming 'That Girl'
It began with a photograph from Jordan Chiles — an image of Beyoncé wearing a colorful full-body Giardino print with a matching hat and jeweled body chain at her birthday concert in Los Angeles last September.
The photo made its way from Chiles' phone to a computer screen at GK Elite headquarters in Reading, Pennsylvania — a city about an hour and a half outside of Philadelphia best known for being the pretzel capital of the world and the former hometown of Taylor Swift.
The local focus was now on Bey, not Tay.
"Usually when an athlete has an inspiration photo, we pull that photo into our files to then build a leotard based off of that," said Macy Bell, GK Elite's gymnastics custom designer. "So, for this one, a large part of the inspiration photo is the multi-colored print, so we pulled that in here in a very similar way."
The company’s gymnastics design team then began making sketches on Adobe Illustrator, combining elements of the inspiration request with the well-known leotard performance preferences of one of its premiere athletes.
GK Elite, the world’s largest manufacturer of gymnastics apparel, has outfitted Olympians since 1992 in partnership with USA Gymnastics . The company has signature collections for the sport’s top U.S. stars like Chiles, Jade Carey , Suni Lee and, of course, Simone Biles -- who is the Jordan Brand of gymnastics apparel.
Each athlete has their own preferences, styles and degree of input on their leotard designs. Prior to the Tokyo Olympics , Biles requested that the image of a goat be placed on her leotard , which represents her rightful status as the sport's greatest of all time.
Forced to withdraw from nearly all events in Tokyo while experiencing a form of disorientation known in the gymnastics community as "the twisties," Biles' customization on her competition leotards ahead of the Paris Olympics had more of a motivational tone.
"Over the past two years, she had a quote which says, 'Still I Rise,' which is a testament to her self-empowerment, her strength and, to every athlete, perhaps a message that says you can get back up from anything," Cowan said. "And she certainly has."
Chiles, a 23-year-old from Oregon, is highly involved in her own designs, adding flair to a garment that was inspired by a 32-time Grammy winner but individualized by an Olympic silver-medal winner.
“To differentiate it and to bring more of Jordan’s style into this leotard, we also added this zig-zag cut across the body that is highlighted again with crystals because it accentuates the body lines and also draws your eyes across the patterns,” Bell said.
Further differentiating the leotard from Beyonce's outfit is a lace-up design that goes across the body and gives dimension to the print, and crisscross layering binding straps on the upper back.

Chiles also helped design a white, crystal-laden leotard inspired by a nude-illusion catsuit worn by Beyoncé in Las Vegas, which Chiles debuted later at the championships.
While Beyoncé has to sing and dance in her outfit, Chiles must contort her body through the air in hers, making fit and flexibility even more crucial than style.
“That’s a very important part that a lot of people don’t remember is you have to have some sort of opening,” Bell said. “So, we want to make sure that we have a functional leotard that also has the personality and has the character of each athlete in it.”
Behind the curtain
The production floor at GK Elite is like a gymnastics mat to the company's roughly 500 employees. It’s where they complete an intricate routine, the end-product of which will be seen across the world.
Whether creating a Beyoncé-inspired leotard or a Team USA uniform, the GK Elite staff are the personal tailors for Olympic athletes.
“Their hard work, that athlete is taking a little bit of that with them onto the mat,” Cowan said. “And the experience and the pride that comes out of this building when a gold medal is draped around a garment that was created here in Reading, Pennsylvania, that’s the most exciting part for me.”
When a leotard design is first created, it starts out as a line drawing. It then goes to the pattern department, where four-way stretch fabric is spread and laser cut for proper fit in the pattern department before being bundled by athlete size and alteration.
Sublimation printing is then used to transfer laser-printed custom artwork from paper to fabric via heat press to lock in the garment’s vibrant colors.
Laser-cut appliques are then hand-placed and glued to the body of the leotard to ensure proper placement before being stitched. Swarovski jewel motifs are applied by heat transfer, with some applied by hand and other fill-in jewels by laser machine.
The garment is then sent to the sewing floor for the finishing touches, including the embroidering of elements like the GK Elite logo and the signatures of premiere athletes.
The design and creation of the Beyonce-inspired leotard took roughly six months from start to finish.
“Each year we manufacture 10,000 leotards a week, about 2,000 a day,” Christman said. “In an Olympic year, we are close to half a million to a million leotards a year.”
From Queen Bey to the USA
The Beyoncé-inspired leotard is, as her song says, irreplaceable.
It's a one-of-one design for the athlete who first imagined it, whereas Chiles' leotards at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be one of five for each woman who qualified for the team.
The leotards worn by each member of the U.S. women's gymnastics team by rule must be uniform, meaning the time for personal style and self-expression is typically during classics and championships in the leadup to the Games. The designs for this year's set of eight women's uniforms combine elements of U.S. patriotism, such as a star constellation, with odes to the fashion capital of the world, such as the use of pearls for the first time.
"We wanted to make sure that people know it is unmistakably Team USA," Christman said. "So, red, white and blue and some really unique features and fabrics that you’ll get to see in Paris."
"And," Bell added, "they will be disco balls on the floor, which is fantastic."
The design process for the Paris Olympics leotards began two years ago with a team of five GK Elite designers presenting a design board to USA Gymnastics.
In previous Games, the leotards were not revealed to the public until the team stepped onto the mat at the Games. That changed this year, with the women's gymnastics team unveiling them on the TODAY Show two weeks before the Olympics, with replicas immediately for sale.
"We really wanted to create a wear-while-you-watch moment," Cowan said. "In every other sport, people are wearing the jerseys of other athletes while they’re watching them…We wanted to provide that same experience to our athletes so that they can wear the leotard of their favorite athlete, their Olympic team while they’re competing. We envision little girls doing handstands in front of the TV while Simone is nailing her dismount."
'Crazy in Love' with the leotard
Chiles and GK Elite were crazy in love with the Beyoncé-inspired leotard.
"Jordan really loved it. I think it might be her favorite. I don’t have confirmation, but I think it might be her favorite," Bell said. "We also really like it here because it’s a very fun leotard, it’s very different from other pieces that we do and it really makes a statement, which we really like. And because it’s such a fun inspiration image you can do a lot with it which opens up a lot more for creativity."
Beyoncé has not publicly commented on the leotard design or on being the inspiration behind it.
She did send Chiles an autographed copy of her vinyl album "Cowboy Carter" with a heartfelt handwritten message this week, just days before the Opening Ceremony in Paris .
"Congrats to you Queen," Beyoncé wrote. "I always watch you with pride and admiration. Thank you for reppin' us. Good luck to you! All of your hard work and sacrifice shines bright. Praying for you and wishing you the best."
In closing, she wrote, "Love your twin Beyoncé."
Twins occasionally wear matching outfits. Does that mean she saw and approved of Chiles’ leotard?
"I think Beyoncé would actually probably love to wear it," Christman said with a laugh. "I think that she would be flattered to know that Jordan drew inspiration from one of her costumes from her tour."
Because they are both that girl.
