Harris-Walz to kick off 'Road to Chicago' bus tour from Pittsburgh Sunday

Vice President Kamala Harris and running mate Gov. Tim Walz will kick off a bus tour from Pittsburgh Sunday, stopping in multiple Western Pennsylvania spots.

The tour, dubbed "on the Road to Chicago," comes the day before the Democratic National Convention kicks off in Chicago, the Harris-Walz campaign told USA TODAY Wednesday.

The candidates' spouses Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Gwen Walz will join them on the tour, the first time all four are campaigning together. The group will focus on meeting voters in their communities, stopping at volunteer canvass events and local retailers.

This will be Harris' eighth visit to Pennsylvania this year. The tour is scheduled after Harris is expected to make her first policy-centered speech in Raleigh, North Carolina Friday.

Pennsylvania is a key battleground state

Pennsylvania provides 19 electoral votes (one less than it did in 2020). It was one of a handful of states that switched its vote from Donald Trump in 2016 to the Democratic Party in 2020.

In 2016, Trump won the state by less than 50,000 votes, beating Hillary Clinton with 48.6% of the vote compared to 47.9% of the vote for Clinton.

In 2020, President Joe Biden won 50% of the votes, beating Trump who won 48.8% of the vote.

Harris has already made several campaign stops in Pennsylvania, including her first appearance with running mate Walz. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro was another top contender for vice president.

When is the Democratic National Convention?

Harris' western Pennsylvania tour comes as many others in the party are headed to Chicago for the DNC.

The DNC is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 19 through Thursday Aug. 22.

Taylor Swift has returned to London as part of her Eras Tour and to celebrate her arrival back to the city, I went on one of the most sought after Swifty experiences.

From August 15 to 17 and August 19 to 20, Wembley Stadium is once again jam packed with Swifties, some of whom have been waiting for over a year to see the 'Shake it Off' singer perform. With tickets ranging from £60 to over £300 selling out almost instantly after they went live, not every Swifty was lucky enough to secure a chance to see their idol.

Despite this, venues and brands across London have created some amazing Taylor-themed events and activities. From brunches to pottery classes, the city has provided something for every Swifty. In particular, one activity seems to have captured the attention and intrigue of lots of fans, and as a result, is now fully booked for her remaining London concert dates. Swifties desperate to go will have to find a slot once the singer has left town.

I joined throngs of Swifties on the sold-out Taylor Swift Afternoon Tea Tour Bus on Friday evening.

You haven’t truly visited London if you haven’t seen at least one Golden Tours bus cruising past the major landmarks of the city. But this experience cranks it up one more notch, offering guests Taylor Swift themed afternoon tea whilst travelling through London listening to songs from world's most famous the singer.

Starting in Victoria, the pretty pastel pink bus almost looks like an iconic London Routemaster, albeit one which has had a serious makeover. Standing next to it, I was already getting excited as I could see small cake stands, and quintessentially British Union Jack bunting.

I was ready for all the treats and a good singalong — I couldn’t think of a better way to see in the start of the weekend.

As we glided through the streets of London, we were served sweet and savoury treats, as well as cold and hot beverages while London landmarks went by. A mimosa with apple juice instead of orange juice was a refreshing change, as was a strawberry bubble tea.

As Romeo and Juliet boomed around me, I munched on, enjoying the ride, seeing London’s skyline ahead. All with the added elegance of Golden Hour. Having now experienced a few Taylor-themed events and activities in London, this one definitely impressed me. I felt nostalgic but happy, singing along with not a care in the world. Perhaps I am more of a Swifty than I thought.

The bus was packed with Taylor Swift fans, all eagerly anticipating her upcoming performances. The atmosphere was electric, with everyone in high spirits and ready to kick off their weekend of Swift-themed festivities. It felt like we were creating a memory that would last a lifetime.

There were touching moments as mothers and daughters captured memories together, singing along to Taylor's top hits.

The hosts, who encouraged everyone on the bus to sing and cheer, were great fun too. All round it felt like a really positive, inclusive place to be. A true escape from the mundanity of normal London buses —which, I suspect, will never seem quite the same again.

As I raised my glass to Taylor with the sun warming my face, I realised the joy of being part of her community. This wasn't just a celebration of Taylor, but also a celebration of her fans and British culture — a mix I initially found odd, but left already wanting to repeat.

Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly announced running mate Tim Walz are barnstorming across battleground states this week after making their electric debut in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.

Harris and Walz – the presumptive Democratic presidential ticket – will next appear together in Phoenix , Arizona, on Friday and then Las Vegas , Nevada, on Saturday.

Their Republican rivals Donald Trump and JD Vance have been tailing them on the campaign trail , with dueling stops in Michigan and Wisconsin earlier this week.

Harris and Walz have had to postpone scheduled visits to North Carolina and Georgia due to severe weather under Tropical Storm Debby . Trump and Vance have also postponed their North Carolina rallies. Those events will be rescheduled, according to the campaigns.

President Joe Biden won those swing states in the 2020 presidential election — except for North Carolina — and flipped Arizona and Georgia for Democrats by razor-thin margins.

Harris and Walz kicked off their tour in Wisconsin with a rally and performance from Bon Iver on Wednesday afternoon. Governor Tony Evers and Senator Tammy Baldwin also joined the event.

That night, they were in Detroit before holding another campaign event in Michigan on Thursday.

With Harris and Walz heading west, Vance is spending the weekend at fundraising events in Texas.

Trump, who has been fundraising in Florida, will hold a rally in Montana on Friday, his first major campaign event in a week.

At their Philadelphia rally on Tuesday night , Harris told the estimated 12,000 people in attendance that she “set out to find a partner who can build this brighter future” during her weeks-old campaign for the presidency.

Harris’s search for a running mate led her to a “leader who can unite this nation and move us forward,” someone who was “a fighter for the middle class” and a “patriot who believes as I do the extraordinary promise of America, a promise of freedom, opportunity and justice not just for some but for all,” she said.

Walz — a 60-year-old military veteran, former school teacher and congressman and the current governor of Minnesota — told the crowd that Trump “doesn’t know the first thing about service, because he’s too busy serving himself.”

The former president “weakens our economy to strengthen his own hand, mocks our laws, and sows chaos and division, and that’s to say nothing of his record as president,” said Walz, who said Trump “froze” during the Covid-19 crisis and “drove the economy into the ground,” adding: “Make no mistake: violent crime was up under Donald Trump.”

“That’s not counting the crimes he committed,” Walz added.

After being picked up from select Vegas hotels and traveling three hours on an air-conditioned bus, passengers get to spend up to four hours exploring the West Rim. A must-see lookout point at the West Rim is Guano Point, from which you can trek to Highpoint Hike and get a view of the Colorado River.

A lunch box, snacks and plenty of water are included with the tour. One unique feature of this outing is that you get to stop at the Hoover Dam for a photo (but keep in mind this stop is only available seasonally). You can also choose from several upgrades, including a Skywalk admission ticket, a helicopter ride or a boat excursion.

Previous travelers commend the tour guides and drivers, noting they are both knowledgable and pleasant.

This bus tour – which takes around four hours to get to the South Rim's Mather Point from Vegas – gives visitors the opportunity to walk along Bright Angel Trail; it leads to Bright Angel Lodge, located in the Village Historic District.

Women combine passion for food, family and travel in Savory Lane bus tour of Massachusetts, New Hampshire

DERRY, N.H. - Four women are bringing their passion for food and travel to their own bus tour business in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The Savory Lane  is a two-year-old company that operates out of a farmhouse bus with a bathroom, mini kitchen, and plenty of seats. It's named "Freddie," after their grandmother.

"I have a picture right by my drivers seat and I wear her necklace with me everytime I get on board. So number one, I know she is watching over us," co-owner Maria Czyzewski told WBZ-TV.  

"To have my sister, my mother and my niece involved.  A woman family-owned business, it's been pretty cool," co-owner Lisa Galloni told WBZ-TV.

"I had seen tiny home buses. It's amazing on what you can do with some of those, but what it ended up being is absolutely above and beyond what we had thought," Czyzewski said.

Customers can expect an unforgettable experience on the bus.

"I'm sitting in the drivers seat, so I see everyone coming on and the minute they turn the little corner. They are like, 'Oh my God, this is amazing,'" Czyzewski said.

Where does The Savory Lane go?

They offer tours for for everybody. From their winery tour, to a book lovers "literary adventure," or even a gourmet cheese shop tour. They also offer seasonal experiences for fall, Halloween and Christmas. 

"Scavenger hunts is a favorite, our tea parties are a favorite," Galloni said.

The tours range from four to eight hours and they can welcome 15 to 24 people. But the Savory Ladies' favorite part is watching customers smile ear to ear.

"It kind of solidifies what we wanted to bring to people. It exceeded our expectations, that people are enjoying this that much," Czyzewski said.

"The positive feedback and the excitement, 'This is the best day I've ever had in so long.' Those type of things are really incredible," Galloni said.

"A great partnership"

The tours are also a positive experience for the businesses they visit.

"It's pretty exciting. It's great for us because it's a great partnership. They're our biggest supporters, but they also bring in a lot of people who had no idea that this was here," Appolo Vineyards owner Mike Appolo told WBZ.

The ladies know that all the great memories they have made on the bus would make their grandmother proud.

"She would be super excited because this is right up her alley. Hanging out with people, having a good time, dancing and singing," Galloni said.
