Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign walkthrough

A step-by-step guide for every mission and fight in the Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign.

Sam Chandler

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is here and there’s a new campaign full of adventure to be found. Released on November 10, 2020, Beyond Light takes players to Europa and the Cosmodrome, grants new and powerful abilities with Stasis, and sheds more light on the darkness. It’s a dangerous world out there, don’t go alone, let us guide the way with our Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign walkthrough.

The Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign is a decent length. Expect to put anywhere between 6 and 12 hours into the story. With this new update, players’ Power has been increased across the board to 1050. For those that hadn’t played in a while, there is no need to grind for Power – just jump right in. There is a new max Power in Destiny 2 to chase and the campaign will get you to roughly 1200.

Darkness’s Doorstep – Recommended Power: 1060

destiny 2 beyond light darkness's doorstep

The first step in the Beyond Light campaign sees you venturing to Europa to save Variks. Before you do this, go and unlock the Beyond Light Seasonal Artifact , that way it's leveling up while you complete the campaign.

When you get to Europa and find Variks, you can free him by shooting the Stasis crystals at his feet.

Speak with Variks at Charon’s Crossing to start the next step. He will offer some information on Eramis and give you the overarching Beyond Light campaign quest.

The New Kell – Recommended Power: 1070

destiny 2 beyond light the new kell

The next story mission, The New Kell, has players working with Variks to hunt down Eramis. The mission will take you into an area on Europa where you oversee Eramis sharing her gift. To get here, you will need to defeat a Heavy Shank on a bridge and then interact with the computer to lower the shield.

After a brief cutscene, you will need to escape back to your ship. You’ll enter a room with an immune Fallen called Phylaks, the Warrior. Clear out the other Fallen and ignore her to until the door unlocks. Fight back across the bridge and approach your ship to end the mission.

Return to Variks to receive a campaign reward: Hailing Confusion Pulse Rifle.

Rising Resistance

destiny 2 beyond light rising resistance

The next cluster of steps aren’t necessarily missions, but smaller tasks that take you around Europa. It begins with activating the secret comms network around Variks’ base of operations. One is beside the building, another is on the roof, and the last is out the front, down by some boxes.

After scanning the comm units, you will need to interact with the Crux that appears and then follow it through the canyon. A cutscene will play, introducing you to the Exo Stranger.

A Link to the Future

After the cutscene, speak with the Exo Stranger to receive the next step.

Splinter of Darkness

destiny 2 beyond light splinter of darkness

With the Splinter of Darkness now in your possession, the Exo Stranger directs you to attune it in the Ziggurat in the plateau beyond. Simply walk up the structure and interact with the shard. Use the “Attune” prompt to complete this task.

Commune with a Crux of Darkness in Nexus

destiny 2 beyond light commune with crux of darkness

The next step is to commune with a Crux of the Darkness. This quest step in the Beyond Light campaign will direct you to one found in the Nexus. Use the Charon’s Crossing fast travel point and follow the track up to the right towards the Nexus. This will be your first opportunity to use the Stasis abilities.

Open locked chest using Stasis

Now that you’ve got some practice with Stasis, Ghost will need you to open a nearby locked chest using Stasis. Follow the waypoint to it. Once the chest is open, go and speak with Variks to receive another campaign reward: Bonechiller Shotgun.

Defeat Fallen

The next step is to defeat 35 Fallen units in Eventide Ruins without dying. This will call out a Salvation Elite. Depending when you attempt this step, it could be difficult due to other players competing for kills. Just hang around where the Fallen Skiffs appear and you’ll complete it in a few minutes.

Draw out Elenaks, Salvation Elite

destiny 2 beyond light elenaks salvation elite

Head to the Asterion Abyss and start the fight against Elenaks, Salvation Elite. You will need to defeat groups of Fallen combatants, paying special attention to the ones with a unique symbol above their heads. Once enough have been killed, Elenaks will be dropped off for you to defeat.

The Warrior – Recommended Power: 1100

destiny 2 beyond light the warrior

After completing all the previous steps, you will be able to do the next actual mission, The Warrior. This is the fight against Phylaks. This is one of the Empire Hunts listed on the Season of the Hunt roadmap . Before you start, you will likely need to spend a bit of time increasing your Power. Try to aim for around 1080 Power, higher if you’re playing by yourself and struggling.

The Warrior quest step in Beyond Light has you fighting through caverns, defeating Fallen and Vex, and destroying Vex cubes to remove barriers preventing you from progressing. This is similar to the Nightmare Hunts on the Moon.

The fight against Phylaks is set out in three stages. Every third chunk of health you remove, the arena will begin to disappear, forcing you to move to the next platform. On the final platform, you will be granted a constantly-recharging Stasis Super, use this to clear out the enemies. Once Phylaks dies, you will receive the Phylaks’s Splinter of Darkness to take back to the Exo Stranger.

Enhanced Splinter of Darkness

Destiny 2 beyond light enhanced splinter of darkness

Speaking with the Exo Stranger again yields the Enhanced Splinter of Darkness. Take this down to the Ziggurat to attune yourself further with Stasis.

Commune with the Crux of Darkness in Bray Exoscience

destiny 2 beyond light commune crux bray exoscience

After speaking with the Exo Stranger, venture into Bray Exoscience and commune with the Crux. You will be empowered by the Darkness and have constantly-recharging Super and abilities. Once you clear the room of enemies you will need to speak with Variks once more. You will receive another Beyond Light campaign reward: the Long Shadow Sniper Rifle.

Collecting tracking devices

destiny 2 beyond light collect tracking devices

The next step is to try and track down Praksis. To get this underway, Variks will have you collecting 10 tracking devices from Vex in the Asterion Abyss. Head to the area and kill Vex until you have what you need.

Disable Praksis’s Conflux

destiny 2 beyond light disable praksis conflux

Go to Cadmus Ridge and then find and shut down the Vex Conflux. Defeat the Vex that spawn under the giant Oracle diamonds to remove its shield and then destroy the diamond. You will need to do this three times.

The Technocrat – Recommended Power: 1120

destiny 2 beyond light the technocrat praksis

The Technocrat is the next mission in Beyond Light and one of the new Empire Hunts. Much like the fight against Phylaks, the hunt for Praksis will require a bit of effort. This hunt will take you into Bray Exoscience, have you fighting Fallen Brigs, and destroying shield generators in order to damage Praksis.

When you get to the main fight against Praksis, make sure you keep moving around the arena. The Stasis abilities he has access to deal quite a bit of damage at lower Power levels. When Praksis is shielded, you will need to locate the red generators that float in the air and destroy them.

There is an empowering pool at the entrance to the arena that will give you the recharging Stasis abilities. Defeat Praksis and then return to the camp at the Beyond fast travel point.

Go to the Cosmodrome

destiny 2 beyond light go to the cosmodrome

The next step in the Beyond Light campaign is to go to the Cosmodrome and speak with Shaw Han. This is a brand new character in Destiny 2. Shaw Han is responsible for guiding new players through the New Light quest . The Cosmodrome is on Earth – use the fast travel point at the Steppes.

Defeat Fallen in The Divide

Head to the Divide and start defeating Fallen. You need to collect 5 pieces of intel. There should be plenty of Fallen to kill here.

Defeat Bakris, the Adamantine

destiny 2 beyond light braksis the adamantine

Bakris, the Adamantine is the next target you will be tasked with defeating. Bakris is hiding out in the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector in the Cosmodrome. This is a pretty easy one as it’s not an Empire Hunt. Just fight through the Lost Sector, defeating enemies to lower the barriers. In the boss room, you will need to take down Bakris, which you can do with the help of constantly-charging Stasis abilities. The Lost Sector boss will be there too if you wanted to take it down for some more loot.

Complete The Glassway Strike

destiny 2 beyond light the glassway strike

Next up is the Glassway Strike. You will need to fight through the Strike in order to prevent Eramis from activating a Vex portal. When the Strike finishes, return to the Exo Stranger.

When the Glassway Strike is completed and you return to the Exo Stranger, she will offer you another enhanced Splinter of Darkness. Take it to the Ziggurat in the Beyond and attune it.

Commune with Crux of Darkness in Riis-Reborn Approach

destiny 2 beyond light commune crux of darkness riis-reborn approach

Head to Riis-Reborn Approach to find the next Crux of Darkness. This area is to the far north of Europa, past the Eventide Ruins. The closest fast travel point is at Variks at Charon’s Crossing. When you reach the Crux, commune with it and then defeat the enemies in the room – you can use the Stasis Super and abilities while you’ve got them. When it’s done, return to Variks to get another Beyond Light campaign reward: Subzero Salvo, a Rocket Launcher.

Help your Fallen allies

destiny 2 beyond light help fallen allies

Variks requests your help with evacuating some of the friendly Fallen. Go to the Eventide Ruins and ensure the friendly Fallen Skiff escapes Europa with its asset.

destiny 2 beyond light help fallen allies Aspirant

When you get to the Eventide Ruins, look for the Fallen field emitters that are sending out waves of energy to the Skiff, keeping it frozen in the air. Approach the emitters and “tamper” with them. You will then need to gather codes from the powerful Fallen units that drop in – look for the icons above their heads. Defeat the Aspirants and then disable all the emitters.

The Kell of Darkness – Recommended Power: 1150

destiny 2 beyond light the kell of darkness defeat eramis

The Beyond Light campaign will now direct you to complete the mission, The Kell of Darkness. This sees you fighting through Riis-Reborn Approach in a bid to defeat Eramis. Much like the other fights, you will be granted access to constantly-recharging Stasis Super and abilities. When Eramis falls, return to the Exo Stranger.

For the last time now, take the enhanced Splinter of Darkness to the Ziggurat at Beyond and commune with the Darkness.

Embrace the power of the Darkness

Destiny 2 beyond light campaign embrace the darkness

Communing with the last shard will transport you inside the Pyramid. Now is the time to embrace the power of Darkness and control it. After interacting with the statue, you will be transported back to Beyond where you must speak with the Exo Stranger. It's here you will unlock No Time to Explain .

Speak with Zavala

destiny 2 beyond light campaign speak with zavala

The final step of the Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign is to return to the Tower and speak with Commander Zavala. He will offer you a new quest, Reclaiming Europa . Pick up the quest and then go visit the Drifter so you can start The Stasis Prototype, a quest to unlock Salvation's Grip . Once the Exotic Grenade Launcher is unlocked, you can start finding and destroying the Entropic Shards .

Just because the Destiny 2: Beyond Light campaign is completed, doesn’t mean the fun stop. There are still more activities and quests to tackle and you can find more guides for them over on the Shacknews Destiny 2 guide .

Ergo Sum Exotic Quest Guide - Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Quick links, how to start destined heroes, complete queens, part i, complete lost in light, complete found in the dark, complete queens, part ii, use the dyadic prism, how to farm ergo sum.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape has updated the weapon roster with new Exotics to chase, one of which is a randomly-rolled Sword. Ergo Sum is the first Special Sword in the Destiny franchise, and it's one of a few Exotics to drop with random rolls. Everything from the base frame to its Exotic perk is random, so you'll want to farm for as many copies of this weapon as possible.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape - Hunter's Journal Artifact Guide

Here is an in-depth breakdown of each Artifact perk added in Echoes, the first episode of Destiny 2.

If having a Sword that can spawn Gjallarhorn projectiles or Telesto bolts sounds good to you, then you'll need to complete the "Destined Heroes" quest first. Complete the Final Shape campaign, speak with your Ghost, and complete these steps to get your hands on an incredibly powerful Exotic weapon.

The "Destined Heroes" quest is unlocked immediately upon completing the Final Shape campaign. Speak with your Ghost in the Lost Tower to claim your campaign rewards, then listen to the nearby radio to get started. This quest will take you across the Pale Heart of the Traveler to unlock the rest of your Prismatic abilities. Destined Heroes will take roughly an hour to complete.

Your first step is to complete the Queens, Part I adventure located directly across from the radio you just used. Adventures are short quest-style missions with fairly low combat difficulty, so you don't need any endgame builds here.

The goal of this adventure is to redirect incoming damage to nearby Hive runes that match the enemy's damage type. When you first start the mission, you'll enter a locked path with a single Hive Knight, Acolyte, and symbol. Killing any Hive Knight in this mission will spawn a Hive Sword. Pick it up, then hold the block key. Blocked damage is redirected to your crosshair . In this case, the Acolyte's weapon deals Solar damage, so it'll empower the Solar Rune blocking the path.

Just outside will be nine elemental runes, three for each Light element. Once again, block incoming damage with your Sword to redirect the projectiles. These enemies can empower each rune:

  • Arc: Wizards.
  • Solar: Acolytes, including Lucent variants.
  • Void: Shriekers.

Upon making your way to the shores of the Pale Heart, Savathun will grace you with her presence. She is guarding another set of elemental runes, but this time you'll need to empower them with elemental orbs. Simply pick up an orb and throw it at the matching rune type (Arc, Solar, or Void). If the rune is covered in a green transparent shield, grab a nearby Hive Sword and use a heavy attack projectile to break the shield. Repeat this a few times to finish the adventure.

Destiny 2: A Complete Guide To Stasis

Freeze and shatter your way to victory with this in-depth breakdown of all Stasis subclasses.

"Lost in Light" is a short quest that will unlock the remaining Light options for your Prismatic subclass . The quest itself is rather straightforward. Track the quest on your map, fast travel to the closest destination, then follow the diamond marker on your HUD. Interact with any memories you find, and complete the following adventures:

  • The Hollow: Part I.
  • The Hollow: Part II.

The Hollow: Part I

This quest is fairly straightforward and shouldn't be too difficult for most players. You'll be assisting Mithrax with hacking nearby terminals and empowering Light and Dark plates. The start of the quest requires you to hack a terminal and defend your Ghost against waves of Fallen. This objective is paused if your Ghost takes damage, but you can simply resummon your Ghost to continue.

The second part of this mission requires you to empower Light and Dark plates by defeating a matching Taken Captain. They will have the suffix "Light" or "Dark" in their name, denoting the type of motes they drop. You'll need five of a particular mote type to cleanse a plate. Get five motes, run to the plate, and it should automatically cleanse. Repeat this process as needed until you finish the mission. A boss will spawn near the end, but they're a complete pushover.

The Hollow: Part II

Korha has retreated to the frozen landscape of Europa, and it's up to you and Mithrax to put an end to his schemes. You'll periodically need to escort an Explosive Shank through a combat arena . Enemy forces will focus on destroying the Shank, so do your best to redirect their attention or kill them outright. When the Shank gets to the end of their intended path, shoot them to destroy the blockade.

Most of the adventure plays out in this fashion, spawning progressively more adds with each section. The end of the level sees you fighting Korha once again, this time surrounded by House Salvation and Dread forces. Kill the Salvation Servitors to spawn orbs, then dunk those orbs to spawn a wave of Explosive Shanks. This will break Korha's immunity shield. Once it drops, lay into them with your Heavy and Super. Repeat until the mission ends.

Transcendent enemies appear throughout this quest. Be sure you have a Prismatic subclass equipped.

As with the last quest, you will need to complete two adventures and listen to some dialogue to unlock the remaining Darkness options for your Prismatic subclass. Mark the quest on your map, fast travel to a nearby patrol zone, and follow the marker on your HUD. Once again, you'll need to complete two adventures;

  • Home, Part I.
  • Home, Part II.

Home: Part I

It's time to sabotage some shield generators. After a fairly lengthy combat gauntlet at the start of the level, you'll be tasked with destroying pairs of shield generators. An Artillery Officer will spawn shortly after you clear the nearby area. Eliminate the officer to spawn an Artillery Antenna. Plant the antenna atop of a generator. Repeat this for each section until you complete the mission.

Breaking all generators will spawn a Colossus miniboss you must eliminate. When the boss becomes immune, two Subjugators will spawn that you must damage while in Transcendence. Once both are slain, refocus your attention on the Colossus until it's dead. Subjugators are fairly resistant to explosive weapons, so you might want to use precision weapons like Snipers and Linear Fusion Rifles if they're giving you trouble.

Home: Part II

This is a repeat of the last mission with one added twist: Biting Cold. This debuff will slowly tick down throughout the mission, similar to the opening encounter in Deep Stone Crypt . Once it hits zero, you immediately die. Stand near fire pits found across the level to reset your timer. Other than that, it's the same pattern as last time. Kill the Shadow Legion to spawn an explosive orb, then throw it at a shield generator to destroy it. Rinse and repeat.

The final boss in this adventure is a Goliath Tank. Bring a good Heavy weapon to destroy it.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape - FAQ Guide

We answer all of your questions about Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

Now that you've unlocked the rest of your abilities and Aspects, it's time to confront Savathun and her Lucent Brood. There aren't any complex mechanics or puzzles in this mission, but there is a Tormentor duo towards the end of this adventure. Be sure you have a good precision weapon and some form of crowd control to take care of them. Beyond that, it's a typical Destiny mission. Bring a build or weapon that's great at clearing adds, and you shouldn't have any issues.

Return to your Ghost in the Lost City. You will receive a Dyadic Prism , an Exotic item that takes up an Energy weapon slot. You ideally want to complete this quest ASAP to get this out of your inventory. Travel to the Sacrarium and start the "Hope" adventure. Walk up to the veiled statue and hold interact to infuse your Dyadic Prism with the Light. You'll receive Ergo Sum for your troubles, an Exotic Sword with random rolls.

Additional copies of Ergo Sum may be obtained through Pathfinder rewards and the Overthrow activity inside the Pale Heart. Pathfinder is guaranteed to drop one per reward set, but you can only earn two Ergo Sums this way per weekly reset. Overthrow has a random chance of dropping the Sword, but there doesn't seem to be a reward cap for this activity.

Overthrow Daily Rotator

The Overthrow activity must be completed in the daily threat zone to have a chance of dropping Ergo Sum. You can matchmake into the current threat zone through the "Machmade Overthrow" playlist inside the Pale Heart. It's located next to the Pathfinder reward menu and above The Blooming region.

Archie and a Guardian in Destiny 2

Archie returns to Destiny 2 with a trip to the Neomuna following the May 28, 2024, weekly reset .

This is the final step in a series of “ Where in the System is Archie ” quests in the wake of the Into the Light update — which have been staggered out week-by-week in the lead up to The Final Shape.

Note this quest expires on the June 3 weekly reset — a full day before The Final Shape launches on June 4. This is because Bungie will take Destiny 2 down for 24 hours ahead of the expansion.

Remember, provided you complete any Archie quest before the arrival of The Final Shape , you’ll get your hands on the Blue Steel shader, while the lore for all Archie quests will be available from June 4 on.

How to start ‘Where in Neomuna is Archie?’ in Destiny 2

To start the final “Where is Archie” quest, head to the Tower’s Annex and find the paw prints.

A Guardian standing over paw prints in Destiny 2

You can reach this location by using the southwest-most fast travel point, then traveling straight ahead down the corridor. The paw prints will appear on the ledge to your right.

Investigate the prints and go talk to Ada-1 (found in the Annex proper opposite) to start the latest quest.

Starting the “Where in Neomuna is Archie” quest in Destiny 2

Now, head to Neomuna, and speak to Nimbus at Strider’s Gate. Once done, the search begins.

All Archie Neomuna locations

Here is where to find Archie in Neomuna, clue-by-clue.

‘Archie stopped by Nimbus’ post hoping to snap an action figure’ location

A Guardian finds Archie’s footprints in Nimbus’ gym

This clue refers to Nimbus’s gym room, which is also where you place all the action figure collectibles on Neomuna.

From Nimbus, jump directly down and to the right, off the platform. The building will be right in front of you. Go inside and you’ll find Archie's footprints between the coffee tables.

Now you’re in for quite a journey to visit the Veil.

‘Archie wanted to get caught up on everything we know about the Veil’ location

This clue refers to the Veil Containment and Irkalla Complex areas, which are the two southeastern-most points on the Neomuna map.

A map of Neomuna in Destiny 2

To reach this place, you can’t just launch Veil Containment, as you’ll need to be outside. Instead, you need to go through the Zephyr Concourse and then the ESI Terminal. Keep left the entire way there and you’ll eventually find a portal, which will take you to the Veil Containment area.

A Guardian prepares to enter a portal in Destiny 2

Continue up to the door, where you’ll be attacked by a bunch of Cabal and a Tormentor. Kill everything, including the Tormentor, and return to the door. You’ll find Archie’s footprints just outside of the door to the Veil.

A Guardian finds Archie’s footprints in Destiny 2

Now you’ll need to go on another long walk near Liming Harbor.

‘Archie wanted to check out the views from where Guardians mastered Strand’ location

This clue refers to Maya’s Rest, which is the sandy area to the east of Liming Harbor.

A map of Neomuna in Destiny 2

Land at Liming Harbor and take the path east through the rocks. This is basically a straight shot to Maya’s Retreat, but it takes a bit to get there. Continue on until you reach the sandy area.

A Guardian looks for Archie in Destiny 2

You’ll have to kill a lot of Cabal here, including a Colossus boss. Once you kill the boss, all of the other enemies will disappear and you’ll be able to collect the footprints, which are overlooking the city.

A Guardian finds Archie’s footprints in Destiny 2

Mercifully, Archie’s final stop is a much shorter run.

‘Archie’s last stop. Archie wanted to try and win a prize for you’ location

This final clue refers to the Thrilladrome Lost Sector in Liming Harbor.

A map showing the Thrilladrome lost sector in Destiny 2

Land in Liming and make your way north to the Lost Sector entrance. Walk inside and just do the normal version — as-in don’t launch the Legend or Master version if they’re available — and eventually you’ll find Archie waiting by a claw machine. Do not go through the Vex portal at the end. If you do, you’ll miss Archie, who is to the right of the portal.

A Guardian finds Archie in Destiny 2

Go give him some pets and you’ll finish the exploration portion of the quest. Now it’s time to head back to Ada-1 in the Tower. She’ll give you an Archie Plush Toy and 10 Trophy of Bravery tokens — useful for getting more Brave weapons . Whether you keep the plush is up to you. Archie will be sad if you don’t!

A Guardian receives an Archie plush in Destiny 2

The Archie quests will disappear entirely with the weekly reset of June 3, so this is your final chance to find Archie.

If you’re looking for more to do in the Into the Light update, you can take on Pantheon bosses , complete “ Zero Hour ,” and for “ The Whisper ,” find Oracle locations , and upgrade Whisper of the Worm with Taken Blights .

Welcome to Destiny Reddit! This sub is for discussing Bungie's Destiny 2 and its predecessor, Destiny. Please read the sidebar rules and be sure to search for your question before posting. I literally cannot travel to Europa. There are no fast travel points. I am currently on F2P because I wanted to try the game out.

  2. I have no fast travel points on Europa. Any fix? : r/destiny2

I dont see the answer here, and the conversation is pretty old. The answer to the issue is that you need to go to the quest archive console in the tower or HELM and go to the section labeled "The Past". The quest to start the Beyond Light campaign will be in there. 1. Reply.

  3. Why is there not more fast travel points on Europa?

Discussion. The fact that Europa doesn't have a north fast travel but south Europa has two right next to each other is absurd. Destiny is already a grindy game and with these new campaign missions that make you go from north to south over and over again..... it's extremely annoying. 17. Anyone else want another fast-travel point added to Europa. > Destiny 2

Preferably, further north. EDIT 1: I for one enjoy the scenery and the weather system on Europa, but it gets annoying and very repetitive having to go between Variks/The Stranger and walking to the Riis-Reborn area 6-8 times just for the campaign.
