Who said you have to go to a formal or business event to wear a spiffy blazer? You can also use a travel blazer to make a statement and have some fun. If your travels involve a music festival where psychedelic experiences are likely to ensue, spice things up by sporting a turquoise, lemon yellow, or hot pink blazer.

If those colors don’t appeal to you, not to worry; there are 22 to choose from. If you have your heart set on a green or orange blazer, those are available too! You can have any color under the sun with this slim-fit sport coat. If the music festival you’re attending is slightly more subdued – say a classical music festival – there are less flashy colors available, like black or navy blue.

Not only can you use this travel sport coat at music festivals, but it can easily be reused during any other part of your trip; because of its slim fit, it pairs well with t-shirts, shorts or pants, and a dress shirt. Depending on how crazy you want to get with the color, you’ll likely find a variety of occasions to add this lightweight travel blazer to other outfits. And – depending on your destination – wearing a burgundy or pink blazer on a regular night out may just fit in with the latest fashion trends.

COOFANDY Mens Casual Suit Blazer

COOFANDY Men’s Casual Suit Blazer is one of the best travel blazer for backpacking europe

  • Price: $52.99 – $67.99
  • Best Use: travel
  • Security Pocket? yes

While we respect the typical backpacker’s desire for comfort and utility, we highly recommend having at least one fashionable outfit on hand if you’re backpacking through Europe. Some of the world’s most fashionable cities are found in Europe – Milan, Paris , London, to name a few – and, overall, sloppy-looking clothing is not the European way.

While you don’t have to look runway ready to fit in, sticking out as a “typical tourist” isn’t advised. Not only does it make you a target for opportunistic pickpockets searching for unsuspecting outsiders, but it may keep you from access to higher-end or trendy hotspots that you’d like to check out. Europe has tons of cultural offerings – from super casual to more refined – and you’ll want to be aptly prepared.

This casual sport coat is the best travel blazer for backpacking Europe because it looks stylish and polished without breaking the bank. It’s also practical, with a real chest pocket, two front flap pockets, and an inside pocket to stash away more important items.

It’s lightweight and minimalist, so it will easily pair with jeans, a simple tee, and casual shoes. It adds just enough style to give you that little bit of pizazz you need for any venue or event you encounter on your European travels.

  • Inexpensive
  • Lightweight and versatile enough to pair with all clothing
  • Looks higher quality than it is
  • Needs to be drycleaned
  • Thinner than an average sportscoat due to quality of material

Meet the best classic wool travel blazer: Paul Fredrick Men’s Classic Fit Wool Travel Blazer

  • Material: wool
  • Best Use: travel/formal event
  • Weight: year-round

If you’re looking for the most wrinkle and stain-resistant fabric for your ideal travel blazer, then wool is the way to go. Made of 100% wool, this two-button blazer will suit all your travel needs without needing much cleaning and maintenance while on the road.

It definitely fits the bill for a more classic, refined look that can be worn in all seasons. Wool is great because the fibers naturally help you regulate your temperature. It’s breathable like cotton, making it comfortable in warmer weather. It’s also insulating, so this travel blazer will also keep you warm in colder temperatures. If you’re a frequent traveler year-round – whether for business or pleasure – a wool travel blazer is worth considering.

If you’re on the lookout for a classically styled blazer for traditional events like a wedding, a formal dinner party, or important business travel, this is a solid choice. It’s available in five classic colors – one of which is a marine blue if you want to spice up the color.

Another bonus is that the Paul Fredrick travel blazer is as practical as it is timeless. There are two front flap pockets and four inside pockets, giving you plenty of space for travel documents and personal accessories. If you travel a lot in all types of weather, this wool travel sport coat is a winner.

Now, you  could spend a fat chunk of $$$ on the WRONG present for someone. Wrong size hiking boots, wrong fit backpack, wrong shape sleeping bag… As any adventurer will tell you, gear is a personal choice.

While we believe that the best travel sports coat choices we’ve presented above cover pretty much any traveler for any purpose, you may choose to keep looking around for a lightweight travel blazer that suits you better. If you do, we’d like to give you these things to consider to help you choose the best men’s travel blazer when doing your shopping research.

One of the main things to figure out is what material is best for the travel blazer for you –  depending on your needs and travel style. If your priority is low-maintenance in terms of washing, wool may be your best bet.

Wool is the most ready-to-wear as it requires the least amount of washing due to its natural odor, stain, and wrinkle-resistant properties. Just keep in mind that a wool travel blazer will need to be dry cleaned.

merino wool

If you want to avoid dry cleaning completely, nylon is a better choice. Nylon is extremely resilient, making it a good choice for more rugged conditions. It’s not the typical material you’ll find in more traditional blazers, and it’s probably a material you think of for windbreaker or rain jackets. Because it’s water-resistant, finding garments for travel outerwear is helpful for unpredictable weather or for more versatile use.

Then there’s polyester. Polyester is a very lightweight, quick-drying material that is very wear-resistant, which is why it’s what most sports clothing is made of. It’s usually not considered the most high-quality material for more formal wear, but it’s the material of choice for keeping the costs of items lower. If you’re looking for the most inexpensive travel blazer possible, polyester will be your best bet.

A good question to always ask yourself when shopping around for the best travel blazer is: how much do you want to spend? Thin materials – like polyester and cotton blends – will be the cheapest. For a lower price, you’ll likely have to sacrifice more advanced features like ample pocket space, zipper pockets, and quality.

If you want your travel blazer to be long-lasting and have all the bells and whistles of a top-notch travel garment, consider investing more money. A higher-quality travel sports coat will cost you more, but if you intend to use it for a long time, it will be worth the upfront investment.

Consider what you need a travel blazer for. Is it a one-off purchase to wear to a music festival, or is it a blazer you intend to use for business trips on the road? For a more professional function, you’ll want to carefully consider how the blazer looks – making sure it doesn’t look too “cheap” or ill-fitting.

men travel blazer

If it’s to look good out on the town, you can choose a less traditional style. It should look sharp but could have a more vintage look or an edgier look. If it’s a travel blazer you intend for many nights out on the town in many different cities worldwide, consider paying more for the one you like best.

If it’s for one or two nights out for a specific trip, you probably don’t need to worry as much about the quality and durability of your chosen travel blazer.

Pockets and Storage

How important are pockets and storage space to you? If you like to travel with your travel documents and personal accessories on you at all times, be sure that your travel blazer selection has ample pockets. An inside security pocket is highly recommended for stashing away more valuable belongings.

Packability

Since this garment is meant to serve you well during travel, you need to check out how well the garment packs away. Is it bulky, and will it take up a lot of space, or does it fold down compactly? Does it pack well if it’s folded up, or will it arrive a wrinkled mess if it isn’t packed in a certain way – like on a hanger in a garment bag? For business travelers, this might be okay.

travel blazer fit

Keep in mind that if you’re a backpacker, your travel blazer will be tucked into a compact pack with a bunch of other items where space is limited. You’ll be better off choosing a travel blazer that packs down easily and is as wrinkle-resistant as possible.

Keeping your garments low-maintenance will help make your travels much easier and hassle-free – especially if you’re staying in hostels, as most don’t offer services that involve an iron or clothes steamer!

Still have some questions? No problem! We’ve listed and answered the most commonly asked questions below. Here’s what people usually want to know:

6 Best Travel Blazers for Men – Travel In Style In 2024

We independently evaluate all recommended products and services. Any products or services put forward appear in no particular order. If you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation.

Yes, you have been led here correctly. This is indeed an article on the best travel blazers. And I will deliver on that deliverable by way of an eclectic, yet specialized set of the best men’s travel blazers.

But I’m taking it one step further. I’m slightly altering u/ZanderDogz’s prescient Reddit question: “Does my holy-grail travel jacket exist, or am I asking too much of one piece of clothing? in order to find the holy-grail travel blazer. I can answer that second part now: the answer is no, that is not asking too much for one piece of clothing. The holy-grail travel blazer exists and we’ve found it for you.

So, what are the specific qualities of a holy-grail travel blazer? It should be comfortable, formal, wrinkle-resistant, stylish, and lightweight (if possible). Let’s start with the main problem: wrinkles. To reverse the aging process, try exercise, cold water immersion, and intermittent fasting (you’re welcome).

To prevent a wrinkled blazer while traveling, read on. It doesn’t matter what seat it is: car, train, plane, hydroplane, ferry, helicopter, squashing a blazer between your warm body and a solid seat is destined for creases. A travel blazer can combat this with intelligent fabrics, the addition of elastane or Spandex, and high-quality thick fabrics such as cashmere. These materials tend to bring comfort in themselves, either through additional stretch, or extra plush softness.

Plus, when the jacket is lightweight, that means it can be easily packed into your garment bag and subsequently, your carry-on or weekend bag . It’s a joyous, practical, smart item that ensures you travel in style.

I have collected the best men’s travel blazers that deliver on their ability to look excellent before traveling, during traveling, and after traveling. Read on below for more.

Key Takeaways

For this assignment, I found recommended travel blazers online and trawled the internet for similar. I emerged with the 6 finalists. Overall, the best travel blazer is Suitsupply’s Havana Blazer . It valiantly battles wrinkles, looks dangerously stylish, is of a premium build quality, and is lightweight. This combines and satisfies the main attributes I was traveling through the Internet to find (I was dressed in a travel blazer while doing so, of course).

The runner-up in this category is the Eddie Bauer Ultimate Voyager Travel . This blazer satisfies a slightly different angle. It excels in its stretch and its weatherproofing, yet still looks close enough to a blazer to be worn with relative formality to dinner or a meeting. But, it’s a technical jacket at heart and there’s a poetic duality in what that brings. So, no, u/ZanderDogz you’re not asking too much of one piece of travel clothing .

  • Buying Considerations
  • Why You Should Trust Us
  • Final Verdict

Best Overall: Suitsupply Havana Blazer

Why it’s great: This well-rounded beauty is the overall best men’s travel blazer for its trendy fit, versatility, and wrinkle resistance. But there’s one unique attribute, not of the suit, but of the company that makes it that elevates the suit. Let me explain. The brand offers customizable tailoring through an intuitive online “suit builder” program. It’s a seamless experience. You create a “Size Passport” by getting measured in-store or you can enter manually online. This is then linked to your account. Now, you can travel precisely the way you want to look.

How it looks: One Reddit reviewer wrote, “It looks very nice, very lightweight and doesn’t wrinkle.” The combination of an unlined construction and wrinkle resistance make it good for traveling. You can also accentuate the formal elements of the suit through styling.  Wear a grandiose full-length winter coat and some smart pants to make heads turn as you enter the restaurant (read “club” if you’re below 30 years old).

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The blazer is on the more expensive side of a travel blazer. However, the custom, or tailormade option is democratizing tailoring to some extent due to its breaking of geographical and financial barriers. Which, of course, is a fabulous boon for tailoring.

Sizes: XXS-4XL (32-50L)  | Colors: 2 | Material: 100% Pure 4-Ply Traveler Wool

Best Fashionable: Closed Blazer

Why it’s Great: There are some esoteric folk on the Global-Inter-Web that live by the conviction that there is no such thing as a damn travel blazer . And this marvel of a blazer by Closed is a really good argument for this particular philosophical camp. It isn’t a travel blazer. It just does being a blazer so well that you’d want to travel with it, wherever it wants you to go. Which does, ironically, make it one of the best travel blazers out there.

How it looks: The double-breasted construction and the refined, tactile Italian fabric make this the best-looking travel blazer on the list. It has a vintage edge to it thanks to the subtle check and oversized fit. If you’re a suave tourist looking to catch people’s eyes while traveling to your destination; this blazer will impress.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: They call it charcoal, but it looks brown in the images. This is a flaw because sometimes the lighting of a shoot can skew the actual color of the garment. The beautiful style, traditional pattern, and billowy cut of this garment are all powerful enough to ignore the color inconsistency; if it’s anywhere near brown or charcoal, it’ll look cool. If it’s bright yellow, we have a problem.

Sizes: 44-54 | Colors: 1 | Material: 39% cotton, 38% polyester, 23% virgin wool

Best Luxury: Luca Faloni Cashmere Blazer

Why it’s great: Time to get nerdy about tailoring. The AMF stitching sets this suit apart. It designates its wearer as a discerning gentleman of taste and a penchant for the finer things. AMF stitching (American Machine and Foundry) creates a noticeable stitch perimeter. This indicates the premium manufacturing quality of the blazer and sets it apart on this list.

How it looks : But, a travel blazer is more than refined stitching. Pure cashmere is luxurious and ideal for colder destinations. Plus, the fabric improves over time. So, when you wriggle against the seat, just know that you are subtly improving the aesthetic of your jacket. That’s reassuring, isn’t it?

Flaws but not dealbreakers: While cashmere fares well in light rain and cold weather, in the summer, consider linen or unstructured cotton as an alternative.

Sizes: S-3XL  | Colors: 2 | Material: 100% pure brushed cashmere

Best Budget: Uniqlo AirSense Jacket (Cotton Like) (Ultra Light Jacket)

Why it’s great: This blazer does the “simple navy blazer” well. It has balance. The notch lapel, symmetrical pockets, and minimalist two-button closure hit the right notes of formality without overdoing it. The quick-dry stretchy fabric is a joint venture between Toray (a huge Japanese materials company) and Uniqlo. It has breathability and light weather resistance. With the weather being unpredictable while traveling, the versatility of this blazer can help. Even if it happens to be pouring down when connecting between the plane and the terminal.

How it looks: Uniqlo’s travel blazers pop up time and time again on forums as reliable travel blazers. The amenable stretch means that the blazer is a servant to your comfort while keeping your look elevated. No wonder it’s one of the best travel blazers.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: You can’t machine wash this blazer despite it being polyester. Perhaps a sign of its delicate and technical prowess as a suit fabric.

Sizes: XXS-3XL  | Colors: 2 | Material: 100% polyester

Best On Amazon: Eddie Bauer Ultimate Voyager Travel

Why it’s great: This is a technical travel blazer. It is primed for the outdoors thanks to its Storm Repel DWR lightly rain-resistant finish. By logical extension, it’s also primed for conversations about HRV and peptides. Eddie Bauer is committed to making this the ultimate travel blazer. The two-way stretchy fabric brings wrinkle resistance and optimum comfort, plus, it’s machine washable. The design is smart but is still thinking practically. It comes with a zippable pocket to secure your valuable documents.

How it looks: Its stylistic cross-breed means that it will look as sleek powering up a rugged mountain trail as it would at a rave in an abandoned car park. One recent Amazon user attests, “Looks smart enough for a dressy night whilst traveling.” Ideal.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The “technical” aesthetic, i.e. the outer zip means it loses a little bit of sheer formality and makes it a more casual wear compared to others on this list.

Sizes: 38-48 | Colors: 3 | Material: 96% polyester, 4% Spandex

Best Everyday: L’Estrange 24 Blazer Stretch Cotton

Why it’s great: This is for the environmentally conscious consumer. The regenerative cotton fabric is farmed using processes that draw carbon down into the soil. This technique also brings other ecological, social, and financial benefits. It’s important not to understate the regenerative effect on your general vibe too. This stylish blazer promotes a level of sauntering rarely seen in departure lounges across the globe. Plus, the 2% elastane brings a touch of comfort and wrinkle-relief. Finally, L’Estrange offers one year of complimentary services and repairs; now, that’s a neat touch.

How it looks: This men’s travel blazer has a super lightweight feel when balanced off the end of your fingers. It won’t take up too much spare capacity if you need to pack away in your carry-on, but when worn, it’ll feel relaxed and liberating.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: We love the minimalist aesthetic painted by the designers at L’Estrange. But, some highly critical folks may suggest that it doesn’t have an edge or a zinging personality. So, if you’re in the business of fashion statements, avoid it. If you’re in the business of business, snap it up.

Sizes: XS-XXL  | Colors: 4 | Material: 98% cotton, 2% elastane

Buying Considerations for the Best Travel Blazer

There are two main attributes of the material that need to be considered. Does it stretch? And does it wrinkle? These questions can be answered by numerous different materials. There are many routes to a single destination. A classic travel blazer will have a small percentage of elastane or Spandex in the material. The extra stretch is crease-resistant and aids comfort as you unwind on your travels. In this article, we also feature a pure cashmere blazer where the heft and softness combine to reduce wrinkling.

Style

A travel blazer is a blazer good for traveling. Duh. We’ve covered that. Style-wise, there are all the same variations as regular tailoring. However, a travel blazer can bring in more technical elements. These include zipped pockets, water-resistant fabrics, and the use of elastane/Spandex.

There is no one fit-fits-all when it comes to the travel blazer. Billowy and boxy is stylish but the excess fabric comes with more opportunity for it to get caught, trapped, and pressed into wrinkles. A slim tailored fit pertains to less wrinkle-risk, will probably be more lightweight, and take up less luggage room. So, err on the side of a slimmer fit, but that’s not prescriptive.

Why you should trust us

I’ve been modeling for top brands for over a decade and writing for top fashion publications for over five years. In that time, I’ve traveled to a lot of cool places (Tokyo, Mexico, and Buenos Aires) so I know the importance of traveling in style. For this review, I combined my stylish eye, my travel knowledge, and my love of tailoring to direct my search. I narrowed the shortlist down to 6 so that you’d only witness the finest e-commerce has to offer.

Final Verdict

The best overall pick for the best men’s travel blazers is Suitsupply’s Havana Blazer . An underrated quality of a travel blazer is its ability to withstand abuse from all the coarse seats, spilled drinks, and suitcase stuffings that one will throw at it. Not only does the Havana Blazer have resilience, but it looks suave and is natural, wrinkle-resistant, and lightweight.

Men’s travel blazers are blazers that are good for traveling while wearing. Bloody simple. Oh, and a blazer is the jacket half of a suit , by the way. A travel blazer can either be designed for traveling purposefully or it can be an accidental miracle. Travel blazers tend to be crease-resistant, lightweight, and comfortable while retaining the panache and formality of a traditional blazer .

The best material for a travel blazer is cotton or wool blended with elastane or Spandex. This gives the blazer its stretchiness, comfort, and wrinkle resistance. However, lightweight wool can provide enough springy resilience to beat the creases. As can cashmere. Polyester can also be manipulated to form an ideal fabric for a travel blazer, too.

The best travel wardrobes hinge on a few pieces of gear that work everywhere for every occasion. When you’re ready to take your travel style to the next level, invest in a great travel blazer and you’ll be wearing it on adventures for years to come.

Every now and then you find a piece of travel gear or clothing that’s so useful and versatile it can change the way you travel. A good belt, the right merino t-shirt, battery case for your phone, stretchy travel pants, and even a good pair of packable shoes are all straight up game changers once you cross the Rubicon and embrace something that might not be in your typical travel wheelhouse. Recently, a travel blazer has joined my list of oddly useful, good-for-every-trip, must-have packing items for my travel backpack .

Carry-On-Sized Travel Backpacks

Bring everything you need without checking a bag.

  • Carry-On-Sized
  • Easy to pack
  • Comfortable to carry
  • Built to last

Whether you frequently travel for work, are on your way to a wedding, or simply want to see a new destination, a travel-ready blazer is a great addition to your packing list . Unlike the blazers you wear every day, a travel blazer is wrinkle-resistant, breathable, lightweight, and machine washable, so it can look good throughout your entire trip (no expensive, overnight dry-cleaning required). Below are our picks for the best men’s travel blazers, as well as tips on how to pack them.

Best travel blazers for men

The Best Men’s Travel Blazers

Bluffworks Gramercy Slim Fit Travel Blazer review

Bluffworks Gramercy (Slim Fit) Travel Blazer  ($295)

If you’ve read anything else I’ve written about travel clothing , it’s no secret that I’m a big Bluffworks fan. They make excellent, stylish travel clothing that not only takes an absolute ass kicking on the road, but looks great while it’s doing it. I get comments on my  Bluffworks travel pants  nearly every time I wear them, and the same holds true for the travel blazer.

This  wrinkle-resistant travel blazer  fits great, looks awesome, with all the right stretch and give to take everything from airport lounges to after hour raves. Machine washable (which is a surprisingly rare feature for travel blazers) and super comfortable, thanks to the stretchy polyester, the Bluffworks travel blazer features 10 pockets, many with zippered enclosures, to keep your stuff safe and organized while in transit.

Honestly, one of the best parts of a travel blazer is how it performs in airport security. No more dumping everything in that little tray. Put your phone, wallet, passport , boarding pass, headphones, and even a snack in the pockets and breezing through security looking dapper as heck.

Wear it with:    Give your travel wardrobe a versatile pop of color with the  Bluffworks Harvest Gold tailored fit travel chino pants  ($100) and you’ll always look great.

Alfani Tasso Elba travel blazer review

Alfani Tasso Elba Travel Blazer  ($119)

The Tasso Elba linen blazer from Alfani is a surprisingly lightweight travel blazer perfect for as a pure fashion accessory. Think the Azores, or “lunching” on a sloop with a dude named Bryce. Linen doesn’t pack as well as polyester, wool, or cotton, but it looks great, and won’t weigh you down.

Wear it with:   Bluffworks travel dress shirt ($125) . This lightweight, breezy style blazer pairs well with the clean stylish look of the performance travel shirt from Bluffworks. If the blazer gets wrinkly, whip it over your shoulder and still look like a boss.

Orvis Traveler's hopsack blazer review

Orvis Traveler’s Hopsack Blazer  ($329)

The wool blend fabric makes it great for fighting wrinkles, hiding stains, and resisting odor from a few too many hours on the road. (I’m kind of a wool nerd).

The Orvis buttons are flashy as heck, it’s tailored to look like a “3-roll-2” jacket meaning it has a sweet deep V when you only button the middle button—which is the only way to wear a blazer.

Like the Bluffworks blazer, the Hopsack travel blazer has the right amount of pockets (a button-tab pocket, zippered security pocket,“utility” pockets) making it a great jacket for keeping tickets, passports, and your phone organized, safe and still handy in transit.

Bonus Feature:  The lapel button hole is actually really good for holding your headphone cable and keeping your earbuds organized if you haven’t gone for  bluetooth headphones  yet.

Wool & Prince travel blazer review

Wool & Prince Travel Blazer  ($258)

This might just be peak travel blazer. Wool & Prince hand-picked a blend of Italian merino wool and added 25% nylon for the right amount of stretch—which is perfect for the road. Then they added five pockets to keep your stuff handy without ruining the jacket’s lines.

If you’re looking to upgrade your style on the road (or even at the office), this  travel blazer  is designed for sleek, hassle free travel that will impress. And it comes in regular or long length so you can really dial in your fit.

Wear it with:  Outlier slim dungarees  ($198). This blazer is fashionable enough to wear with jeans or other non “slack” travel pants. I’m a big fan of a the darker Outlier dungarees or a darker wash jean for a rugged clean look.

Travel blazers

Custom-Made Suits and Travel Blazers

Another great option is to get a travel blazer—or even an entire suit—made while you travel. I picked up a tailored three-piece suit in Vietnam for $150 a few years ago. Obviously, prices vary based on the fabric you choose (wool is more pricey, but definitely worth it), but it can be a great way to see if a suit or blazer is right for you.

I’ve upgraded my suit and blazer since those early days, but I really did get a lot of mileage out of that custom suit. There’s really no substitute for a tailor fitted jacket, and it’s nice to get one at an affordable price when you’re traveling. Just make sure you leave a little room for growth—I was a tad underweight when I got the suit made and it didn’t age all that well.

Thailand, Vietnam, China, and India are all known for their  inexpensive tailors .

How to pack a blazer for travel

How to Pack a Blazer for Travel (aka How to Fold a Blazer)

Packing a suit or a travel blazer isn’t hard. It’s just kind of weird. Here’s how you  pack a suit jacket or blazer in a carry on bag :

  • Pull one of the jacket sleeves inside out  (the lining should be facing out—including the shoulder pad).
  • Tuck the other shoulder pad  (the normal one) into the pulled out shoulder pad sleeve.
  • You should only see the lining right now .
  • Lay it down flat in your bag.  It’s ok that it drapes over the outside of your backpack.
  • Fold it in half .
  • You’re done .

The best part about folding a suit jacket or blazer like this is that you can “army fold” a pair of pants in with it, and keep everything wrinkle-free. If you want to add a pair of trousers, just fold them in half, then in half again, and lay them down on the jacket before you fold it up to fit in your bag. You now have a bundle packed suit that won’t wrinkle—even in a carry on backpack .

Travel Blazer Sizing Guide

The whole point of a travel blazer is to have a layer you can wear anytime, to any event. That means it has to fit well, and by that I mean snug where you want it, and comfy where you need it. A floppy mess will make you look like you borrowed your grandpa’s old coat and if it’s too tight… well you’ll look like an idiot. Here’s how to make sure your travel blazer fits well:

Determine your chest measurements

First, determine your chest measurements. You can do this by:

  • Looking in a blazer you already own.
  • Having a professional measure you, such as a tailor or dry cleaner.
  • Measuring yourself using the instructions below:

travel blazer fit

Maintain the same height of the tape measure all the way around your body.

Make the tape measure snug, but not tight when you read the measurement.

Relax your arms (Natural arm stance is slightly bent, never straight) Take measurement in 3 steps:

  • Start at the bone at the top edge of your shoulders down to the elbow
  • Land tape measure slightly back towards the elbow bone
  • Continue down to below the wrist bone for final measurements

travel blazer fit

Every blazer is different but typically blazer sizing follows these general criteria:

  • Small: 35”-37”
  • Medium: 38”-40”
  • Large: 42”-44”
  • Slim Fit: Typically 1” slimmer than a regular cut blazer
  • Long: Typically 1” longer sleeve length than a regular cut blazer (for men over 6’0” tall)

Those aren’t hard fast rules, but they’re a great starting point. To make sure you have your measurements correct, use a cloth measuring tape (not that one in the tool box), and measure your chest at the largest point, or your midsection if that’s a little bigger, then use the largest number. No judgement if your belly is bigger than your chest, you just need to use that as your measurement so that the blazer fits.

To measure your sleeve length, start at the center back of your neck with your arm slightly bent and follow the tape measure around to your wrist bone. If that sounds weird, welcome to the world of tailoring.

I’m a relatively slim, tall guy so I always make sure to get a slim fit (I’ll drop an inch in a regular cut blazer), and get the long sleeve length. Play with your fit until you dial it in, but once you do  write those numbers down . Your accurate measurements are your new social security number. Oh, and always go single breasted. This isn’t a suit jacket, you fancy bastard. Keep it stylish.

Why You Should Pack a Travel Blazer

What a blazer does for your travel gear is weird. No really. When you first start backpacking it’s all about “performance” gear. Zipper toggles and pockets inside of other reinforced pockets. Goretex everything. Then, a strange thing happens: you realize that you’re not spending that much time in the great outdoors.

A large part of modern travel is spent in cities (or on the beach if you’re lucky!) and you just don’t need survival style travel gear for that type of trip. So stop packing it.

Over the years, my wardrobe has gotten smaller while becoming (oddly)  better  for longer trips. And it’s largely due to getting better gear that just does more—like a travel blazer. When you embrace carry on packing you have to up your game with better quality fabrics (i.e. clothing that doesn’t stink or wrinkle after a few days) and outfits that look good in every setting from destination weddings, and co-working spaces, to  pub crawls  “walking” tours.

Fashionable travel isn’t just about looking cool when you’re on the road. It’s about feeling comfortable, traveling well, and getting stuff done—in a carry on bag . Bulky travel jackets can be tough to to pack. They take up a lot of space, wrinkle easily, and the worst part about most travel jackets is that unless there’s terrible weather (or it’s winter), you might go the entire trip without using one of the largest items in your backpack.

Travel blazers are different. They acts as an extra layer for chilly plane rides and windy walks to the coffee shop or that co-working space downtown. But what’s more, you free yourself up to enjoy your trip without a massive coat weighing you down or making you look like you just got back from Everest.

Travel Fashion Help! Reader Asks:

I’m looking for a lightweight work blazer that will be suitable for business across Europe. Preferably it will be smart, stylish, lightweight, comfy, won’t wrinkle, and will wash easily. Any recommendations?

Finding a women’s travel blazer suitable for business or leisure can be difficult, as it needs to fulfill many requirements. While there are plenty of options available, many of them aren’t appropriate for being packed into a suitcase and taken abroad.

Wrinkling can be a problem, and even the material matters; hence it’s ideal to look for something that doesn’t wrinkle much when packed or lighter material, so it doesn’t feel bulky.

We asked our readers for some of their favorite blazers, and this is what they suggested. The best thing is that even if you’re not traveling for business, blazers are a smart addition to any city travel capsule wardrobe .

Here are their top recommendations for the best lightweight travel blazer !

I haven’t thought of taking a blazer when vacationing, but after seeing all of the options and cute looks I will definitely add this to my list of items to bring.

Erin Cronin

Some of these are not really blazers, but sweaters. The person asked for a work blazer. I find the best blazers for me to travel with (I am flight crew) are Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jackets, Example- https://www.nordstrom.com/s/6588417

They are expensive -average $695- but they travel so well! They look fantastic, I always get compliments from a myriad of people of all ages and both sexes. You can add dickey sweatshirt/sweaters/jean jackets to the blazers for a layered look without the bulk. Nothing beats this for a professional look to a more dressed up casual look. Well worth the money.

Alex

Thank you for sharing your recommendation with us Erin!

Julie

I never thought about traveling with a blazer until I read this. I got the Eddie Bauer Travel Blazer (hard to find – they sell out all the time!), but now I won’t leave home without it. It does double-duty of keeping me warmer on a cool day, and making any outfit look smart.

Judy O’Hara

I am looking for a travel blazer in petite sizes. The sleeves are too long on regular sizes.

Claire

MM LaFleur has some good packable blazer/jardigan options.

Thank you for sharing your recommendation with us Claire!!!

Hi, the Anatomie blazer link takes you to the wrong blazer, just FYI

Hi Carlene, whoops!!! Thank you for letting us know ?

I’ve seen packing in the packing cubes. However, you DON”T show how to fold and pack the blazer. I’d love to know how to fold and pack those and other bulkier items.

Great article. I have two of the Uniqlo blazers. They are the most comfortable blazers! Looks equally as good with a dress, or jeans, a graphic tee and converse. One note, I had no idea they were dry clean only. I always just wash in cold water and they are holding up just fine. Highly recommend them!

Yay, so pleased you enjoyed the video Amy!! Thank you for your feedback and review of the Uniqlo blazers!!

Tracey Marks

Just a little note on the Eddie Bauer travel blazer. I purchased this blazer from Eddie Bauer based on your blog post but I had to return it. Turns out, the blazer is actually not lightweight at all. It was just under 2 lbs, which is WAY too heavy if you’re traveling light. It takes up as much room in the suitcase as any other blazer I’ve tried, also. It is a flattering, nice and comfortable blazer and resists wrinkles, but it’s not ideal if you’re trying to pack light or save space.

alex

Thanks for the feedback Tracey! The items were all recommendations from our readers, I’m sorry this one didn’t work out for you 🙁

We'll be honest: buying an off-the-rack blazer won't fit you as well as a bespoke jacket. "This is due to the fact that off-the-rack jackets are made for a generic fit model and not tailored to individual body measurements, shape, and posture," says Shao Yang , founder and creative director of The Tailory New York. That's why we recommend taking your slim-fit blazer to the tailor for a customized fit.

When it comes to the styling a slim-fit blazer for an occasion, the range is pretty unmatched. Perhaps it's the one garment that can leave a lasting impression following an interview, score compliments at the office and turn heads at a gala event. Also, slim-fit blazers cost a lot less these days than they did years ago, so you don't have to worry about breaking the bank. No matter your preference—whether it be a tried-and-true navy classic or patterned design—we've rounded up the best slim-fit blazers that will make you stand out from the rest.

We love the Hemsworth from Indochino because it has impeccable style and quality construction at a relatively affordable price. For starters, it's half canvassed, which means the front is layered through the chest and lapels to drape neatly and provide much-needed structure. Plus, this classic navy design can easily transition from the office to dinner.

In terms of fabric, the blazer is made with premium merino wool, so it's resilient enough to withstand standard wear and tear, making it a solid choice for everyday work or casual attire. Plus, the material will trap heat and keep you warm during cold commutes, thanks to its inherent insulating properties.

The best part of it all: you can customize this garment to your liking, selecting everything from button colors and pocket types to monogramming and stitching—with delivery in three to four weeks.

Banana Republic sourced pure wool for its slim-fit Ortiz Tweed Blazer, which is extremely durable and resistant to damage, yet soft and flexible at the same time. What's more: the material is super thick and naturally water-resistant, so this piece will keep you warm, without feeling damp.

We love how warm this jacket kept us when the temperatures plummeted. There's also plenty of pockets both inside and out to secure your small valuables. Another bonus: the herringbone pattern blends in perfectly with solid colored button-down shirts and sweaters.

What Buyers Do Say? " What a great suit jacket. Warm brown color, thick lush wool, perfect for winter, " says one bananarepublic.com customer.

In true Lululemon fashion, this sporty blazer is designed to give you maximum room to breathe and move. The fabric is made with a water-repellent shell and two-way stretch, which will keep you comfortable even during those hectic errands.

Despite its athletic style, our fitness editors have worn this jacket around the office before hitting the gym. To that point, we love that you can wear this just about anywhere. Plus, we didn't spot any wrinkles after removing it from the dryer.

What Do Buyers Say? " Superb and comfy blazer that's a perfect fit for guys with an athletic frame! I love that it's a lightweight, breathable, stretchy fabric that I can throw in my gym or carry-on bag and not have to worry about ironing it afterwards, " says one lululemon.com customer.

Amazon Essentials Slim-Fit Stretch Blazer

Slim-Fit Stretch Blazer

Amazon's in-house clothing brand spans across everything from joggers to business casual. This modern-style design is made with wrinkle-resistant fabric and added stretch for breathability and ease of movement. Best of all, this type of comfort won’t cost you an arm and a leg—retailing under 100 bucks. Though at this price point, you get what you pay for. It's not as durable or premium as the other blazers we've tested.

What Do Buyers Say? " From the weight of the material to the convenience of machine washability, this jacket was a great find. I very much appreciate the thoughtful touches, such as an inside pocket that is buttoned, and another for a pair of readers," says one Amazon user.

Todd Snyder Italian Madison Sportcoat

Italian Madison Sportcoat

In comparison to a slim-fit blazer, a sport coat is more on the casual side of the gamut and typically distinguished by a patterned cloth. Todd Snyder's herringbone version strikes a good balance between informal and formal. That means it can work for relaxed office environments and dressy cocktail parties.

We've been able to get a lot of wear out of this piece as top layer for a number of outfits. You can pair it with anything from a turtleneck sweater and chinos to a button down and jeans. Additionally, there's no stuffy padding or lining, meaning less bulk and more comfort.

What Do Buyers Say? " Modern version of a classic. High quality and outstanding workmanship. Great fit and style. Wears well with dress slacks or jeans, " says one toddsnyder.com customer.

Allsaints Androm Metallic Pinstriped Slim Blazer

Androm Metallic Pinstriped Slim Blazer

Looking for a slim-fit blazer that's super polished? Well, this one is dressed to the nines with a charcoal gray with metallic pinstripe detailing. Fitting for any formal affair, the AllSaints design has a single-button closure and boasts a sleek silhouette that will turn heads at your next dinner party.

Admittedly, this blazer is on the far side of the formal spectrum. Our style editors recommend it for weddings, galas, and event ceremonies. When it comes to styling, you can wear it on top of a white or black buttoned shirt with black pants.

Everlane The Performance Chino Blazer

The Performance Chino Blazer

No matter what the day throws your way, Everlane's Performance Chino Blazer will keep you cozy and dry. That's because it's produced with a hint of elastane and sweat-wicking properties. Not to mention, the neutral colorway is easy to coordinate with almost anything in your casual wardrobe.

Our editors have found it works best as a travel blazer, thanks to its lightweight feel and casual look. They've worn it on long-hour flights where the aircraft cabins are pretty chilly, but managed to stay warm. It's also worth noting that this option is easy to stow away in a carry-on bag.

What Do Buyers Say? " I really love this jacket. I can go from causal to smart dress for a great evening on the town. It feels great, it’s wrinkle free and I’m getting many compliments on it, " says one everlane.com customer.

Theory Clinton Blazer

Clinton Blazer

The Clinton Blazer by Theory is designed with function and style. For starters, it's constructed from a wrinkle and pilling-resistant knit that is durable enough to be machine washed and dry quickly. Beyond that, you can wear this garment out in the sun without getting gnarly sunburns—thanks to its UV protective shell.

We appreciate that there's tons of stretch that won't make you feel like you're busting at the seams with every move. Also neat: the honeycomb structure offers a good amount of ventilation to keep you cool and comfortable.

What Do Buyers Say? " I am so happy I discovered the Precision Pointe material. This material makes me enjoy wearing a suit. It’s the equivalent of wearing athletic clothing," says one theory.com customer.

Bonobos Jetsetter Unconstructed Italian Wool Blazer

Jetsetter Unconstructed Italian Wool Blazer

Bonobos is a one-stop-shop for men's clothing made with comfort and style in mind. Living up to that standard is the brand's Jetsetter Blazer. It has minimal lining to eliminate bulk, making it ideal for those unusually warm winter days. We like that it works in a bunch of settings, whether you're at the office or happy hour. In addition to the slim-fit, it's alternatively available in athletic and standard sizes as well.

Despite its wool look for winter, we learned the jacket is also airy enough to be worn year round. Our style editors have even sported it in lieu of heavier outerwear styles in the fall season.

What Do Buyers Say? " Nice jacket, goes with most shirt/trouser combinations. One of those rare jackets that is actually wearable during the East Coast summer, but fabric also works in cooler weather, " says one bonobos.com customer.

J.Crew Ludlow Slim-fit Unstructured Suit Jacket

Ludlow Slim-fit Unstructured Suit Jacket

If you need a lighter option to bear the seasons, this suit jacket is the best candidate. J. Crew produced this garment with a cotton-linen blend, which can hold up during the spring through early fall. It's most suitable for summer polo and outdoor weddings that take place in the blazing heat.

Although it’s billed as a suit jacket—because it has matching pants—the unstructured piece doubles as a casual blazer if worn separately. Plus, the material is super breathable and dries quickly if you happen to sweat a lot.

What Do Buyers Say? " This suit fits well and is very comfortable. I wore it in 90-100 degree weather with a J. Crew linen shirt and I stayed relatively cool, " says one jcrew.com customer.

Bar III Slim-Fit Knit Sport Coat

Slim-Fit Knit Sport Coat

If you want to switch it up, this check sport coat is a great alternative. It has just the right amount of style and versatility to pair up with a few different outfits. Also, the side vents prevent bunching and wrinkling, while the interior is unlined making it comfortable to wear in warmer climates.

What Do Buyers Say? " This is a really nice jacket, with high quality material. Will look perfect on anyone, " says one macys.com customer.

Brooks Brothers Slim Fit Stretch Wool Hopsack Blazer

Slim Fit Stretch Wool Hopsack Blazer

Brooks Brothers, one of our favorite clothing brands , has a long-standing history of making reliable business casual clothes. Speaking of which, this slim-fit blazer has a hint of stretch, side vents and fully-lined interior for comfort. Plus, it's crisp enough for a day at the office followed by dinner.

What Do Buyers Say? " Nice casual blazer for office or date night. Pairs well with jeans or wool slacks. Great fit off the rack, " says one brooksbrothers.com customer.

What to Look for in a Slim-Fit Blazer

commerce breaker

A slim-fit blazer can help you look slimmer. The ideal option should fit your body without being too tight. To ensure that you choose the right slim blazer, there's a few key elements to keep in mind.

Shoulder-to-Shoulder: The shoulder of the blazer should ends exactly where your shoulder points ends, according to Yang. This is the point where the shoulder meets the arm. If the blazer's shoulder is shorter than your shoulder points, it will pull and create a bite. If it's too wide, then you end up with shoulder sag. For those with broad shoulders, you may need to size up or it will create unsightly drape lines around your biceps and armhole.

Snug Armole: The armhole of the jacket should sit snugly under your arms, providing a slight hug without any restriction.

Collar Gap: There should be no gap between the collar of your blazer and the collar of your shirt. Your blazer should lay clean and flat against the back of your neck.

Layering Potential: When thinking of what to coordinate with the blazer, be mindful of the types of shirts and sweaters you're matching with your blazer, according to Craig Robinson , head of House and Master Tailor of Robinson Brooklyn.

Versatility: You want to check for something that can adapt to multiple settings, meaning it can be worn in a professional setting as well as out on the town.

What's the Difference Between a Blazer, Sport Coat or Suit Jacket?

Both sport coats and suit jackets are characterized by some of the same aspects as the blazer, but have different focuses. Blazers are usually distinguished by refined, neutral colors like black, grey or navy. They're also more structured and incredibly versatile, meaning they can be dressed up or down depending on your preference.

Sport coats often play up pops of color and patterned designs, including checks (plaids), herringbone, houndstooth and pinstripes. Like blazers, sport coats have transcended beyond their formality roots into casual style. Think: date night, intimate dinners or happy hour. Suit jackets are lighter in weight and look their best when paired with a matching pant. They're not meant to be worn with jeans or for casual wear, rather reserved for more celebratory or formal occasions such as job interviews, office presentations, or award ceremonies.

Fits perfectly and correctly cut “short”. Love all the hidden pockets. Wish was slightly thinner.

My first blazer from you and I’m very satisfied with all aspects. Material is light enough for use in AZ summer and much preferred to other natural materials. Fortunately its 1st use will be in WA state. Weight will be ideal for balance of the here.

The fit and length were spot n. And of course the BW pockets are an added bonus. Wonder if one would hold a small ice pack?

BTW I liked the Grammercy so much I have ordered a Presidio blazer and pants combo.

Excellent cut on this one. Blazers with stretch are tough to get right, but this one checks the boxes. 4/5 starts just because it for sure does wrinkle despite the no wrinkle marketing. In fact, mine came very wrinkled.

Great looking blazer. I had looked everywhere for a travel blazer with zip/security pockets for a trip to Europe (mainly because I'm paranoid of losing my passport and phone). No luck with traditional stores--either no security or zip pockets on outside which ruined the look. The fabric looks and feels nice. Starting to wear it in the summer heat of Texas, so not sure on breathability yet. To me, the sleeves are just right, but I normally have to have sleeves shortened with alterations.

Love the fabric and the versatility this blazer provides. Able to go from carry-on to board room with ease. If any wrinkles do show up I just hang it in the bathroom for a quick steam.

The Bluffworks Gramercy Blazer Slim Fit in Blue Hour is a perfect blend of style, comfort, and functionality. Its slim fit and rich color offer a modern, versatile look, while the wrinkle-resistant, moisture-wicking fabric ensures all-day comfort. Thoughtful features like multiple interior pockets and stain resistance make it incredibly practical. This blazer is a must-have for anyone seeking a stylish and durable addition to their wardrobe.

The first blazer I ordered was beautiful, but did not across the stomach as comfortably as I wanted. I bumped it up a size and that solved the problem. Was way easy to get another blazer sent out, and to return the initial order. They sent a shipping label right away and was very easy to deal with. I'm glad I discovered Bluffworks and plan to order the pants and make a matching suit.

This is a really nice jacket. The construction is solid. I like that the color is different from the standard-issue Navy so it pops without being in your face. The material really feels - and looks - like wool. I'd read that the jacket runs slim so I ordered a Classic fit and it's perfect; no tailoring needed. Huzzah!

The Gramercy Blazer fits well and has a modern, well designed look. The blazer is very comfortable and can be used for a wide range of activities - travel, business, casual, night life, church, wedding, funeral, etc. The blazer washes easily and resists wrinkles. The only 2 negative things so far are that it is expensive especially for 100% polyester, and one shoulder seam strained and slightly separated after a few days.

Love, love the gramercy blazer. Super comfortable. Very soft. Looks like wool but very cool. Purchased the pants to match and can wear casual with jeans or with the pants and make a suit. My go to now anytime I need to wear a blazer or a suit.

What Are the Best Summer Blazers for Men?

travel blazer fit

For warm weather, unstructured blazers are ideal. Sometimes half-lined with canvas, sometimes completely unlined, with no shoulder pads or fusing, they’re airier and allow for greater freedom of movement and easier layering. The right one should fit your shape naturally, much like your favorite denim jacket or chore coat. “The key to a blazer is versatility. The right one can be worn in almost every situation and can hide a multitude of sins,” says Tom Broughton, the well-dressed founder of British eyewear brand Cubitts .

To find some good options, I spoke with 13 stylish men about their favorites. Navy remains the classic choice, but I’ve also included other colors and some subtle patterns that a few recommended. The soft, natural shoulder commonly found in Neapolitan tailoring features heavily here, and the guys I spoke to recommend sizing up for a roomier fit. Many of them noted that a good blazer should go equally well with a button-down or a vintage tee and be easy to travel with and care for. Warm-weather fabrics such as cotton and linen are great, but lightweight wool is the unsung hero for keeping you cool and sharp.

Gap Linen-Cotton Blazer

On a whim, I recently ordered a cotton-linen blazer for an upcoming wedding. But I’ve also found it perfect for working at coffee shops and even wearing on date nights. Knowing my measurements (I’ve got a 36-inch chest), I checked the size guide and opted for an extra-small. It still fits slightly oversize in just the right ways — it’s not too tight in the chest, the sleeves reach my wrists, and the hem ends just below my pants pockets. The jacket is incredibly lightweight, and with its flowy, breathable linen-blend fabric, it’s ideal for outdoor weddings. My only minor complaint is the absence of interior pockets, but that’s a small trade-off for a summer blazer that costs well under $100.

Buck Mason Parachute Poplin Carry-On Jacket - Tanker Green Venice Wash

Buck Mason’s cotton sports coat is designer Colin Shields’s pick. “It’s light, soft, well-proportioned, and a great price,” he says. The 5.5-ounce woven fabric is smooth and crisp and has the breeziness of an anorak without the synthetic feel of actual technical outerwear. The previous iteration of this jacket was boxier and straighter and came in a stretch fabric, but the current, more tailored version works even better dressed up, the cotton poplin giving it structure without feeling stiff. Shields loves how it’s still casual enough to throw over a vintage T-shirt, and how the olive color pairs well with everything. And “as its name suggests, it’s a great jacket for throwing in a carry-on and putting on once you reach your destination,” he says.

Faherty Inlet Knit Blazer

For a more nontraditional option, there’s this knit blazer — all the others on this list are woven — which comes recommended by David Grivette, the managing editor of Huckberry’s journal. He likes how relaxed it is: “It’s something closer to a cardigan than a blazer while maintaining a tailored fit.” Even when it’s scorching hot in Austin, he’ll wear this with a simple white T-shirt and linen pants. “It’ll play a range too,” Grivette says. “If I need to throw an Oxford on underneath and slip on a pair of chinos and loafers, this blazer will still hang.”

Alex Mill Mercer Blazer

I picked up this blazer earlier in the spring and have been wearing it everywhere. It’s a blend of cotton and linen, making it substantial enough for three seasons. On cooler days, I pair it with an Oxford cloth button-down, and on other days, I switch to a pocket T-shirt. Come fall, it will still be in my rotation, layered over a cashmere sweater. I appreciate this jacket’s functional design. It has two waist pockets and one chest pocket on the outside and two more on the inside. The cut is slightly boxy, which I find more comfortable than a more fitted one.

Sillage Twill Blazer - Brown

Broughton’s preferred blazer has a clean, modern shape with raglan seams, which creates an even softer shoulder and sportier look than what you’ll find with the other jackets here, which all have set-in sleeves. The extra button at the top lets you convert the blazer into a different kind of jacket altogether, while the wool-blend material keeps it from looking too much like a track jacket. The blocky, boxy, oversize fit gives it a casual feel. Like me, Broughton likes a jacket with ample storage: “They are important: lots and lots of pockets — ideally at least one hidden internal pocket, imperceptible when worn.” This Sillage blazer has plenty.

Natalino Sport Jacket - Navy Linen

Natalino’s blazers, made in Naples, Italy, are widely popular among stylish British men — like Nicholas Walter , the co-founder of the London shoe label Horatio. “It’s a classic blazer, super-lightweight, and is perfect for going to the pubs around London day or night,” Walter says. He opted for the standard size 48 with no tweaks or adjustments. “I wanted this to be my throw-on for every day. It’s close on the chest but fuller through the waist and back, which I prefer when paired with denim,” he says. Along with the denim, Walter might wear the jacket with a white or vintage tee or a fine-gauge merino crewneck. The jacket can be dressed up too: “Since it’s a three-roll-two” — a three-button jacket pressed so that only the middle button is meant to be used — “with a slightly wider lapel, it sits quite well with a poplin shirt and a silk tie for wedding attire or fancier settings,” he says.

It has a soft shoulder and barely any canvas, so it folds in half easily, which makes it great for travel. And, Walter says, “The cloth has a slightly open weave, which tends not to crease too much. If it’s been stuffed in a carry-on bag with a pair of loafers on top, creases tend to fall out once it’s on your back.”

J.Crew Crosby Classic-Fit Chore Blazer in Italian Linen

“This blazer feels like butter,” says Roderick Hunt , founder and creative director of the fashion publication and lifestyle brand Uniform Journal . “The linen is light but a great weight for the spring and summer; honestly, any season in Los Angeles.” The Crosby style is long enough and not too roomy to fit Hunt’s slender, six-foot-three frame, and he says the sleeve length is just right.

Tagliatore Brooch-Detail Single-Breasted Blazer

While at Pitti Uomo a few summers ago, Chris Olberding, the president of Gitman Vintage, found the perfect blazer at Eredi Chiarini in Florence. Made by Tagliatore, the two-button, single-breasted design with “zero lining makes it wonderfully deconstructed, yet it performs structured when paired with a shirt and tie,” he says. It’s cut on the trimmer side, so he sized up, and he says it feels like a loose long-sleeve merino-wool T-shirt. Olberding also appreciates the hidden details that make this blazer special, like “the navy suede inner pockets, internal side straps for shape, and a name tag I’ve yet to fill out.”

Velasca Preci Double-Breasted Deconstructed Jacket

Joel Jeffery, co-founder of loungewear brand Desmond & Dempsey , had been looking for a double-breasted deconstructed jacket for a while and found this half-lined option from Italian brand Velasca. “I tend to wear it to dress up jeans or pants for when a suit is an overkill, but you need more than just a shirt,” he says. “I go a bit larger on the fit as I think it makes it easier to wear casually compared to what I’d usually want from a suit.” Instead of dry-cleaning, “I spray with a bit of lavender water and hang to dry, or steam,” Jeffery says. “The creases drop out quite well, so it’s not something I’d be trying to wash or dry-clean all the time.”

[Editor’s note: Velasca lists all prices in pounds sterling, so the price shown is an approximate conversion in U.S. dollars.]

Todd Snyder Italian Linen Sport Coat - Black

For another linen option, there’s Todd Snyder’s jacket, recommended by Aaron Seymour-Anderson, head of brand and creative at Red Wing Shoe Co. Although it’s black, the airy fabric keeps it light and breathable, Seymour-Anderson says. It’s got all the hallmarks of classic Neapolitan tailoring: natural shoulder, double vents, and a chest pocket known as a barchetta (Italian for “little boat”). Seymour-Anderson goes for a full-tonal look with this jacket: “I usually wear it with a black T-shirt and black denim and, of course, my black Red Wing Heritage Shop Moc Oxfords.”

Sid Mashburn Ghost Blazer

According to Michael Williams, founder of the blog and newsletter A Continuous Lean , Sid Mashburn’s Ghost Blazer is so lightweight that it feels like you’re not even wearing a jacket. He says, “There’s really nothing like this blazer; it looks like a typical blue blazer when you wear it, but when you hold it up to the light, you can virtually see through it.” It works well for a taller person, but Williams, who is five-foot-ten, loves the fit on himself too. He finds that the jacket travels well because the high-twist wool resists wrinkling.

Drake's Tobacco Cotton Linen Games Blazer Mk. I

“In 2021, I picked up the Drake’s Games Suit, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought,” says Patagonia merchandising leader Luke Allen . Since the blazer is unlined and a cotton-linen blend, “it feels light and roomy whenever I wear it,” Allen says. “It feels more like a light jacket than anything remotely tailored.” He finds that the rich tobacco color of this jacket goes nicely with denim and loves wearing it over a denim western shirt with roper boots, but he’ll also put on a plain tee underneath and wear it with some New Balance trainers. “I also love styling it with beat-up double-knee Carhartts,” he says. Unlike the other blazers on this list, this one is machine washable.

J.Mueser MTO Navy Hopsack Waverly Blazer

WM Brown founding editor Matt Hranek’s favorite summer blazer comes in this navy hopsack, “a lovely summer-weight wool cloth,” which he says would work as a three-season jacket for temperate climates. Made in the J.Mueser atelier in Naples, Italy, it’s a blazer Hranek travels with frequently: “It has been worn on planes and trains, and I had it folded up in a bag,” Hranek says. “It is bulletproof in terms of wrinkles. It never comes out creased. I just shake it out, hang it up, and roll. In short, it is a killer travel jacket.” All he does to keep it clean is to go over it as needed with a garment brush. Hranek wears it with white denim and linen mostly, but he also says it “looks terrific with blue jeans and a light cotton roll neck for cool nights,” or with a polo with a stand-up collar. “I have even worn it with shorts.”

Stòffa Single Breasted Shirt Jacket

“New York–based Stòffa makes pretty much all the tailored clothing (and tailored-adjacent clothing) that I wear these days,” says fashion veteran and entrepreneur Josh Peskowitz . He has the brand’s single-breasted jacket in navy and brown and the double-breasted in charcoal grey. “The jacket almost feels like nothing and is completely unlined — even the sleeves,” he says. This would normally be a problem when wearing a long-sleeved shirt under it, but the smooth fabric doesn’t cause bunching. Peskowitz says the wool works well for summer: “It’s very light and dry feeling.” The fit on his jacket is slightly oversize and has a bit of a dropped shoulder. “I’ll typically wear it with its matching pants as a suit, but I’ve also worn it with jeans, army fatigues, white trousers, or whatever else,” says Peskowitz.

Saman Amel Slim-Fit Silk and Cashmere-Blend Blazer

Henrik Berg of Swedish footwear brand Morjas believes in investing in shoes and tailoring. He likes his blazers long because he’s six-foot-three, and because they elongate his silhouette. Also, he says, “for an unstructured summer blazer, I prefer the fit to be generous, allowing the occasional cool breeze to seep through.” He styles this blazer with flared denim and a silk T-shirt and likes to elevate the look with an accessory. “I usually like to combine it with a belt of strong personality, like something from silver ostrich,” he says.

Blake Night Blazer  The first word in our product names is always the fit. Every time you see a product named Blake as the first word, you’ll know now that this means these blazers have a Blake fit. Likewise, if the product name is Mary Clair Blazer, the blazer will have a Mary fit as Mary is the first word in the product name.

Blake Night Blazer  The second word in our product names is always the quality (fabric). If you see a product named Night as the second word, this means these blazers have a Night quality. Likewise, if the product name is Blake Glenn  Blazer, the blazer will have a Blake fit, and a Glenn quality as Glenn is the second word in the product name.

Blake Night Blazer The third word in the product name is the product category, letting you know if it, e.g., is a blazer or a jacket.

This understanding goes for all our blazers and products in general. Below we will go through our various blazer fits.

Orbán travels to Moscow after visiting Kyiv

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Just days after visiting Kyiv, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is about to visit Moscow.

Source: Szabolcs Panyi , journalist of VSquare and Direkt36 who covers Central and Eastern Europe, with reference to sources, as reported by European Pravda

Details: Panyi noted that Viktor Orbán will travel to Moscow on 5 July, just a few days after visiting Kyiv and proposing to Ukraine a truce that would be beneficial to Russia.

According to Panyi, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who was not part of Orbán’s group in Kyiv and is regarded as a pro-Russian official, will also visit Russia.

Meanwhile, the head of Hungary's Prime Minister's Press Service announced that Orbán will attend the Organisation of Turkic States summit in Azerbaijan on 5 and 6 July.

Orbán last saw Putin in Beijing in October, at the Belt and Road Forum, where he was the only EU politician present.

The current meeting differs in that Hungary formally took over as head of the European Union's Council on 1 July. This entails that Orbán will meet with Putin as head of the EU Council Presidency.

Hungarian media emphasise that such a meeting, as well as his trip to Kyiv, are preceded by extensive planning, so Orbán may have known he would be visiting Putin this week while negotiating with Zelenskyy. It's unclear whether he discussed his plans with the Ukrainian president or not.

At the talks in Kyiv, Orbán promoted the idea of an urgent truce with Russia, which is in all pro-Russian "peace plans", but did not insist on it.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Zelenskyy expressed misgivings about the logic of Orbán’s idea and does not support it, citing Ukraine's lacklustre experience in negotiating peace with Russia.

As previously reported, Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, while Orbán was meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Bear Is Back, and Jeremy Allen White Is Already Cooking Up Looks

At the Season 3 premiere, the star made a strong case for the beige suit.

Every product was carefully curated by an Esquire editor. We may earn a commission from these links.

White is the latest Calvin Klein darling (I think we all said some variation of "Yes, chef" when his campaign launched in January), and he reminded us of the fact on the red carpet last night in a custom suit, complete with a white poplin shirt and black silk tie. It's quintessential Carmy Berzatto , really. Stylish but not stuffy. Effortlessly cool. Relaxed yet refined.

If history tells us anything, Carmy's return will come a slew of new menswear grails that the internet will be racing for. This beige-y suit (CK calls it "oyster") is just the tip of the iceberg. With every episode of The Bear comes a new menswear item to add to our wishlists. And right now, a Calvin Klein suit is ranking number one.

Although White's look is custom, there are some dope alternatives you can peruse online to get the look (if you're a real menswear head who watches The Bear, you're no stranger to buying a dupe). Here's to another season of the most fashionable show on television.

Dell's unique twistable Bluetooth mouse can fit into any pocket, but it's just not fun to use

Dell's bluetooth travel mouse has its charm, but travel convenience battles a boring user experience..

Image of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700).

Windows Central Verdict

The Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) is a slim and compact wireless mouse that twists to become even flatter for storage in a pocket or bag. It's a solid, relatively affordable choice for those that highly value portability, but the actual user experience is lacking due to inconsistent tracking, loud feet, and an annoying touch scroll bar.

Solid pricing for a compact, wireless Bluetooth mouse

Twistable design does help the mouse fit in even the slimmest pockets

Can connect up to three devices at once with good wireless performance

Build quality leaves some to be desired

Mouse feet make an awful lot of noise

Awkward touch scroll bar and inconsistent tracking can be frustrating

Oftentimes, one of the most frustrating parts of traveling for work is being resigned to your laptop's touchpad for the entire trip. Most modern laptops have great touchpads, but no touchpad is quite a replacement for a good, reliable mouse . That's why having a compact mouse that you can easily slip into your laptop bag or backpack can be invaluable, and that's where the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) comes in.

This isn't just any Bluetooth mouse — it boasts a unique design that allows it to twist into a flatter shape that helps it fit in basically any pocket. Yes, it's very similar to the premium Surface Arc Mouse from Microsoft, but Dell clearly aimed for making a more affordable and accessible alternative. For the most part, the company succeeds; if you care about portability above all else for your accessories, the Dell MS700 is functional and practical. However, it's only okay as an actual mouse, which is unfortunate.

This review was made possible with a review sample provided by Dell. The company did not see the contents of the review before publishing.

Dell MS700 mouse review: Pricing and specifications

Image of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700).

Pricing highlights

  • The Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse retails for $49.99 at Dell and is available in two colors, black and blue.
  • The mouse is powered with two AAA batteries, which are included in the box and are rated for up to two years of use.

• Price: $49.99 at Dell • Sensor: Optical LED, up to 4,000 dots-per-inch (DPI) • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0 LE, up to three devices • Battery life: 2x AAA, up to 24 months • Dimensions: 116.8 x 58.4 x 30.5mm (4.6 x 2.3 x 1.2in) • Weight: 57g (2.01 oz)

The Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) avoids the premium segment occupied by the Microsoft Surface Arc Mouse, retailing for a reasonable $49.99 at Dell . This slimmer price tag helps alleviate some of the grievances I have with actually using this mouse, and will certainly help potential buyers if they're choosing between the (very few) foldable or twistable travel mice on the market. Color options are limited, but you do get to choose between classic black and the lovely "Misty Blue" color I got to review.

The Dell MS700 mouse isn't rechargeable, instead requiring two AAA batteries to function. This may lead to added cost in the long run, but Dell includes your first two batteries in the box and estimates up to two years of usage. I certainly haven't been able to make a dent in the battery life, so you hopefully shouldn't have to worry about batteries for a long time. In the compact packaging, all you'll find is the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) and the included AAA batteries.

Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) — $49.99 at Dell

Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) — $49.99 at Dell

The Dell MS700 compact wireless mouse is a little awkward and even frustrating to use at times, but it's indeed very easy to carry around and does function as a solid, highly portable Bluetooth mouse for when you're traveling light.

  • Back to the top ⤴

Dell MS700 mouse review: The good

Image of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700).

The pros highlights

  • The Dell MS700 mouse connects to up to three devices at once via Bluetooth, and connects almost instantly when it's turned on.
  • The design is overall practical and attractive, too, with a satisfying button action.
  • Through Dell Peripheral Manager, you can customize the touch scroll speed, which mouse button is primary, and even the DPI level (from 1,000 to 4,000).

In its default state, the Dell MS700 mouse is a simple wave that lies flat on any surface or slips into any pocket. Give the rear half a 180-degrees twist, the mouse will turn on, instantly connecting to its paired device. It's a simple and effective design, and the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse turns on and connects instantly when you need it.

Tap the "Bluetooth" button on the bottom, and you can cycle between up to three connected devices seamlessly, which is a required feature for many. Once the mouse is connected, wireless performance is stable and responsive with no noticeable latency. At least on this front, Dell nails it in every category. The design itself is attractive and practical; the battery door is attached via magnets for easy access but remains snug and secure when closed, and the center touch scroll bar on top is flanked by two quality physical mouse buttons.

It's a different approach to the "folding" Surface Arc Mouse and its large haptic touch area that basically acts as a mobile touchpad, and many will likely prefer the physical buttons here (even if you lose the gesture support the Arc Mouse boasts). Download Dell Peripheral Manager, and you'll have additional options to customize your mouse, like the touch bar scroll speed. I was also shocked to find that the Dell MS700 mouse has an adjustable dots-per-inch (DPI) of 1,000 to 4,000 DPI, which is awesome to see.

The arch of the turned on Dell MS700 mouse definitely isn't as ergonomic as something like the Logitech MX Master 3S , but it's absolutely better than some of the other flatter travel mice you might find out there, and this mouse is a good, comfortable size with little weight.

Dell MS700 mouse review: The bad

Image of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700).

The cons highlights

  • The mouse hardware is perfectly functional, but the actual mouse tracking can be inconsistent, the touch scroll bar can be downright annoying, and the mouse feet are obnoxiously loud on a hard surface.
  • Also, the overall build quality isn't as polished as I'd like it to be, with some obvious seams and misaligned panels.

The design of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) is attractive, but the build quality doesn't quite match. Seams and gaps tell you exactly how the mouse is pieced together, and the two halves don't perfectly align on my review unit. I'm also concerned by the long-term durability of the twisting mechanism, especially since it's all too easy to try and twist the wrong direction when switching the mouse on or off.

As an actual mouse, too, the Dell MS700 leaves some to be desired. Its hardware is practical, and its wireless performance is admirable, but the optical LED sensor struggles to keep the mouse cursor accuracy and speed consistent at times. It simply feels less smooth than other wireless mice, and resulted in some missed inputs when using it.

The touch scroll bar is also an obvious downgrade over a physical scroll wheel, as it's easy to either miss it when you need it or hit it when you don't. On top of that, the scroll bar tries to retain momentum like a touchpad would, but it feels awkward and is unpredictable, often resulting in me switching tabs and suddenly scrolling to the opposite end of the article at high speeds.

Finally, the two soft plastic feet at the bottom of the Dell MS700 are unnecessarily loud, especially on any hard surface. They aren't the smoothest feet in the first place, and you're guaranteed to hear it scraping along no matter what you're doing. The feet also collect dust and tenaciously cling to it.

Dell MS700 mouse review: Final thoughts

Image of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700).

You should buy this if ...

✅ You want a solid mouse with a very compact design

If you're constantly traveling, having a solid mouse with multidevice connectivity and a design that allows it to fit in any pocket or bag (without losing ergonomics when you need it) could save your day. The Dell MS700 could be that mouse, given you can overlook its flaws.

✅ You want a more affordable alternative to the Surface Arc Mouse

Been eyeing the Surface Arc Mouse but don't want to pay those prices? The Dell MS700 is $20-30 cheaper with a less futuristic and premium design, and you gain multidevice connectivity in the process. It's just as portable as the Arc Mouse, too.

You should not buy this if ...

❌You're willing to sacrifice portability for a better mouse experience

The Dell MS700 is far from the best or most consistent wireless mouse I've used, but I can forgive some of those faults because of its compact design and low cost. That being said, other options from companies like Logitech can provide a superior user experience at the cost of thicker, heavier, and less portable designs.

• Elgato Facecam MK.2 • Lenovo Slim 7i 14 • Kensington Pro Fit Ergo • UGREEN 11-in-1 dock

An attractive and portable design, a reasonable price tag, rock solid multidevice connectivity, excellent battery life, surprisingly decent ergonomics — the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) has a lot going for it. That's especially true for those that need to carefully ration every bit of space in their bag and want a good wireless mouse to accompany them on their travels.

However, I can't overlook the Dell MS700's flaws. When it comes to simply being a wireless mouse, it's average — with some inconsistent tracking and scrolling in addition to the obnoxiously loud feet. The Dell MS700 is completely functional and more than usable, but there's simply no denying that a lot of wireless mice from companies like Logitech and Razer will give you a better user experience in exchange for some of that portability.

Of course, that might just be the price you have to pay to obtain a mouse this slim and compact. The Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700) isn't likely to steal a spot on our list of the best mice , but that doesn't mean it can't be the perfect travel companion for you for $49.99 at Dell .

Render of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse (MS700).

Dell's competitor to the premium Surface Arc Mouse is more traditional and less experimental design-wise, helping it achieve a lower price point. It's compromised in many of the same ways, though, leading to an average user experience as a mouse in exchange for that unbeatable portability.

2024 NBA Draft grades: Complete pick-by-pick analysis for Rounds 1, 2 from Zaccharie Risacher to Bronny James

The drama at the 2024 nba draft required a second day for completion.

2024 NBA Draft - Round Two

The first two-day NBA Draft  in history is in the books. After Wednesday night's Round 1 gave us some surprises, some trades and some Lakers buzz , Thursday night's Round 2 promised even more of all of those things.

It didn't exactly promise Bronny James. But the son of the greatest active player was indeed selected, at No. 55 overall by his father's Lakers. Kyle Filipowski, Kevin McCullar Jr., Jamal Shead and Johnny Furphy were some other notable names selected on Day Two.

We are here to guide you through all 58 picks with grades from CBS Sports NBA Draft analysts Adam Finkelstein (in Round 1) and Kyle Boone (Round 2).

2024 NBA Draft grades, Round 1

by Adam Finkelstein

1. Atlanta Hawks: SF Zaccharie Risacher, France

It's solid but unspectacular, but that's what you expect in this draft. Risacher is a 3-and-D prototype, which you'd hope for more from a No. 1 overall pick, but that's what you're getting in this class. The better course of action would have been to trade down, but that option didn't seem to present itself to the Hawks.  Grade: B

2.  Washington Wizards : C Alex Sarr, France

This is what Sarr wanted. He wanted to be with the Wizards, and the Wizards wanted him. Many thought he was the best prospect in this draft because he's an exceptionally mobile 7-footer who can play on the perimeter. But the worry is his lack of physicality. He's going to need to put on 20-plus pounds of muscle to do what he wants on the floor. And I also don't fully trust the shooting from 3, which will be a key skill for him to hit on.  Grade: B+

3.  Houston Rockets  (via  Nets ): PG Reed Sheppard, Kentucky

Sheppard exceeded all expectations at Kentucky and became one of the most efficient freshmen in the country. Now he goes to the Rockets, a team that was seen as having interest in several players but chooses to add to their young backcourt with much-needed marksman shooting. At worst, he's an extraordinary role player, but you'd hope for a higher ceiling at third overall. I worry about the extreme shooting being an outlier since he wasn't as good in high school, and I worry about his size on defense. ...  But I've been wrong about him before .  Grade: B

4.  San Antonio Spurs : SG Stephon Castle, Connecticut

Castle was an outstanding multi-positional defender for the national champion Huskies and flashed offensive skills as a creator. I have questions about the fit in San Antonio. He's 6-6, and while some believe he could be a point guard, he played the 3 at UConn and was better off on the weak side slashing. The shooting is the real issue, and the Spurs need shooting around Wembanyama. He's ultra-versatile, but if he's not a shooter, does it work?  Grade: B-

5.  Detroit Pistons : SF Ron Holland, G League Ignite

Holland was the No. 1 recruit in the country last year but had an up-and-down season with the Ignite. His talent is obvious because of his defensive ability on the perimeter and his motor. He does a lot of great things and was my favorite prospect in the class. The issue is the fit: The Pistons desperately need shooting, and Holland's shot is not where it needs to be to help there.  Grade: B

6.  Charlotte Hornets : PF Tidjane Salaun, France

Salaun is 18 years old, has a terrific build, a high motor and shooting potential on top of it, especially on a Charlotte team that needs a 4 man more than anything else. It's contrary to a lot of people's takes, but he has terrific potential with his physical tools.  Grade: B+

7.  Portland Trail Blazers : C Donovan Clingan, Connecticut

This is a best-case scenario for Portland. There was real talk that he could go No. 1. There were teams trying to trade up for him. But the Blazers always wanted him, and he fell to them at 7. He's a defensive monster with his size, rebounding and shot-blocking, but we don't talk enough about the offensive potential with his slip passes and ability to put it on the floor. And I believe that shooting could be around the corner.  Grade: A

8. Minnesota Timberwolves (via Spurs and  Raptors ): PG Rob Dillingham, Kentucky

This is a really high-risk, high-reward pick for Minnesota, which traded for the pick during the draft from the Spurs. Dillingham is a dynamic offensive talent but comes with questions, particularly about his size and defense. He was rated in the bottom 1% for most of the season as a defender -- until he fell to the 0% by the end of it. The things he can do with a basketball cannot be taught, but he needs to get his body to an NBA level. But it's worth noting that he makes a lot of sense as a secondary creator next to Anthony Edwards, one of the true rising stars of the league.  Grade: B

9.  Memphis Grizzlies : C Zach Edey, Purdue

This is a pick where beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nobody cares what Edey did in college in terms of Edey's decorated trophy case. But they do care about your rate of improvement -- and Edey improved every single year. He's massive, so big that it can actually hurt him on defense because he will be attacked on ball screens. But he's massive, he's a worker and he's improving every single day. And he fits: Edey is the best screener in the draft, and Ja Morant loves running a pick-and-roll.  Grade: B

10.  Utah Jazz : SF Cody Williams, Colorado

Williams is one of the more notable high-risk/high-reward prospects in this draft. He missed some time during his one college season but showed a versatile skill set as a big, fluid wing who can shoot. Older brother Jalen Williams is a rising star for the Thunder, and the Jazz hope Cody can produce at a similar level. But he hasn't turned the potential into production in the way his brother has. If he does, this is a great pick.  Grade: B

11.  Chicago Bulls : PF Matas Buzelis, G League Ignite

He is a player with a wide range of outcomes, but there was a high probability that he would be off the board before this because of his size and skill. He has playmaking ability off the dribble at 6-9, and he can do a lot of things across the court. The shooting is a work in progress, as a senior year of high school hot streak doesn't reflect his otherwise lesser numbers. If he locks in on defense at a level we haven't seen before, he has the skill set to be good on that end with his wingspan.  Grade: B+

12.  Oklahoma City Thunder  (via Rockets): PG Nikola Topic, Serbia

I had this in my mock drafts because the fit makes so much sense. Topic is coming off a knee injury that could cost him his rookie season. But he had a breakout season before that injury and emerged as a top-five prospect. He is a great passer who gets the ball into the paint, and he goes to a young team that can afford to be patient because of the Thunder's depth.  Grade: A-

13.  Sacramento Kings : SG Devin Carter, Providence

This is a straight A. Carter was one of my three favorite prospects in this class relative to expectations. He's an elite competitor going to a team where he can help right away. You don't bet against elite competitors. He stepped up big-time when Bryce Hopkins went down. He has an NBA pedigree, and he is ready to go.  Grade: A

14. Washington Wizards (via Blazers,  Warriors ): PG Carlton Carrington, Pittsburgh

"Bub" had some huge fans in the draft process after a very productive freshman season saw him turn himself into a one-and-done unexpectedly. He's a late-blooming guard who grew 8 inches since beginning high school. Even the Pittsburgh staff was surprised how good he was because of his high IQ. He needs to develop that body now to make it work at the NBA level, but this is the player they wanted in trading back and now they get him.  Grade: B

15.  Miami Heat : C Kel'el Ware, Indiana

Ware is the most polarizing prospect in this class. There are a lot of those guys, but he's the most extreme. He's been that way since high school. He has every single tool in the book: size, speed, hands, touch out to the perimeter. But he's said out loud he's not sure how much he loves basketball. There have been questions about motor, physicality, etc. But going to the Heat and Heat culture will be great for him -- unless he can't fit in. Grade: B-

16.  Philadelphia 76ers : SG Jared McCain, Duke

If Dalton Knecht weren't on the board, I'd bump this up a grade. But I love what McCain brings as a shooter and scorer and personality. Defensively, he and Tyrese Maxey may not be ideal as two smaller guards who focus on offense. But there's a lot to like, and adding shooting around Joel Embiid makes sense. And his competitive spirit is worth betting on.  Grade: B+

17.  Los Angeles Lakers : SG Dalton Knecht, Tennessee

This is an absolute no-brainer, someone whom I would have taken in the top seven. Big time scorer, big time shot-maker. He's not just a shooter, but he can run off screens and be a primary domino and unlock playbooks. For JJ Redick, a shooter himself, I like the coach-player fit because Redick will know how to use him.  Grade: A+

18.  Orlando Magic : SF Tristan da Silva, Colorado

He's a plug-and-play wing who has good size and makes shots and good decisions. If he bulks up his size, he can play small-ball 4 but now is a 3. He does a lot of things well including helping with creation and 3-pointers.  Grade: B

19. Toronto Raptors (via  Pacers ): SG Ja'Kobe Walter, Baylor

It's slightly redundant with them taking Gradey Dick last year because Walter's upside comes as a shooter -- even though he did not shoot as well as hoped this past season as a freshman. This is a team that has historically prioritized length and athleticism, but Walter doesn't fit that description.  Grade: B

20.  Cleveland Cavaliers : SG Jaylon Tyson, California

If you saw him this year at Cal, you're going to be excited about this pick. If you saw him the year before at Texas Tech, not so much. He really took advantage of a need for ball dominance at Cal and made it work for him. He's a big facilitating guard, but the question is whether he can be an off-ball shooter when he doesn't get the ball as often.  Grade: B-

21.  New Orleans Pelicans  (via  Bucks ): C Yves Missi, Baylor

New Orleans has a young asset at every position except center, and this solves that. Missi has the same potential as Dereck Lively to be an early achiever because he's a natural rim protector and defensive presence. He should have been off the board in terms of his upside, but now he goes to a really good fit.  Grade: A-

22. Denver Nuggets (via Suns): C Da'Ron Holmes, Dayton

The Nuggets traded up here for a versatile big man who really fits well. Holmes bet on himself, returned to school, developed his shooting range and built himself into a first-round pick. The shooting was a real difference maker and puts him in a place to help Denver, which had really liked him through the process but knew it couldn't wait until 28.  Grade: B-

23. Milwaukee Bucks (via Pelicans): SG AJ Johnson, NBL Austraila

This is a stretch even though Johnson is a potential first-round talent. In Milwaukee, they need players who can come in and play right now. Johnson was a five-star recruit who decided to go overseas instead of Texas. He's a big-time talent who is smooth but a ways away.  Grade: C+

24. Washington Wizards (via Knicks): SG Kyshawn George, Miami

The Wizards traded up for George, who was born and raised in Europe before playing a season for the Hurricanes. This shows that their plan is clear: They're taking upside plays with all three of their picks. George has high-upside outcomes because of the things he is capable of doing, but there's a problem: He's never produced. George averaged 7 points per game last season. The Wizards have time to give him a shot, but he's going to have to make a big leap.  Grade: C+

25. New York Knicks: SF Pacome Dadiet, France

Big wing with a big moon-ball shot and a soft, natural touch. This is a long-term play. If he does come over, he'll be a G Leaguer, but he more than likely will stay in Europe after playing in Germany last season.  Grade: C+

26. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Knicks): SF Dillon Jones, Weber State

This is classic OKC. They take a flier on a guy who has versatility and potential with low risk by trading into this position. He fits their profile of a paint-touch guy who can do a lot of things. If he can figure out defense and shoot well, there's some real potential here.  Grade: B

27.  Minnesota Timberwolves : SF Terrence Shannon Jr., Illinois

He was one of the best players in college basketball last year but will need to adapt to a big change in role after all his freedom. But the offensive burst he brings to the table is real, and he is an NBA player right now. The shot will need to hold up, but the talent is there and so is the polish.  Grade: B+

28. Phoenix Suns (via  Denver Nuggets ): PF Ryan Dunn, Virginia

One of the best defensive players in college basketball, he is an explosive athlete who didn't get to show it much because of Virginia's pace. He's also a great cutter who can show it with the Suns' spacing. If he can get to the point where defenses have to show him even a little respect as a shooter, he will be a long-term NBA player. But he's not there at all as a shooter yet.  Grade: B

29. Utah Jazz (via Thunder): PG Isaiah Collier, USC

His passing is his best asset, and when he plays to that skill, he's got the most upside. He is a big power guard who can get downhill and see the field. The first issue is turnovers, which are normal. Secondly, he didn't defend last year even though he has the physical gifts. But the biggest one is the shooting. If he pulls that up, he'll be strong.  Grade: B

30.  Boston Celtics : SF Baylor Scheierman, Creighton

I am a believer in Scheierman and this is a great fit. It seems like it might have been between him and Duke center Kyle Filipowski. When you have a primary domino like Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown, Scheierman will be able to play off them and create for them. Plus he can shoot and rebound.  Grade: A-

2024 NBA Draft grades, Round 2

by Kyle Boone

31. Toronto Raptors (via Pistons): PF Jonathan Mogbo, San Francisco

This is a big dart throw at No. 31. Mogbo began his career at the junior college level before bouncing to Missouri State and finally to San Francisco. He had a great pre-draft process and profiles as a big forward who rebounds at a high level and shows great passing skills for his position. Grade: B

32. Utah Jazz (via Wizards): C Kyle Filipowski, Duke

This is excellent value at this point in the draft. Filipowski is a former five-star who was an All-American at Duke and ranked as a top-20 player on my board. To get a 7-footer with his versatility past the 20s, much less in Round 2, is quite the surprise. Grade: A+

33. Milwaukee Bucks (via Trail Blazers): C Tyler Smith, G League Ignite

Smith is a former five-star recruit who acquitted himself well this past season shining on a deep G League Ignite team. He's a stretch big who can consistently knock down 3s with a smooth, repeatable lefty stroke, though he brings questions defensively and may not be an NBA-ready contributor at this juncture. The compounding issue here is the Bucks already made a pick that won't help them much next season in first-rounder A.J. Johnson. Grade: C+

34. New York Knicks (via Trail Blazers): PG Tyler Kolek, Marquette

New York traded for this pick from Portland and snatched one of the best values of the early second round in Kolek. He led college basketball in assists last season for Marquette and brings with him elite passing vision and dynamism as a disruptive downhill driver. He could be a valuable backup right away in New York, though some health questions lingered. Grade: A

35. Indiana Pacers (via Spurs): SF Johnny Furphy, Kansas

Furphy not only falling out of the top-20, but then out of the first round entirely, was the biggest surprise slip to me Wednesday. This presents excellent value for the Pacers, who traded for him, giving them a young, developmental prospect who has size and shot-making versatility. Grade: A

36. San Antonio Spurs (via Pacers): PG Juan Nunez, Spain

Nunez is who I had the Spurs selecting in Round 2 and it's who the Spurs traded down for and selected. He's a crafty Spanish point guard with good passing vision and creative handles who could play well off a more defensive-minded guard in Stephon Castle, who San Antonio picked at No. 4. Grade: A

37. Detroit Pistons (via Timberwolves): PF Bobi Klintman, Sweden

Minnesota traded this pick to Detroit and selected Klintman, representing a big swing and, more importantly, a level of self-awareness. After selecting Ron Holland in Round 1 to add to its stable of shaky shooters, Klintman has a reliable shot and a big frame capable of playing on the wing as a role player. Grade: B

38. Oklahoma City Thunder (via Knicks): PG Ajay Mitchell, UC Santa Barbara

Mitchell was one of the most productive players in college basketball last season. I like the bet on talent here as someone who can drive downhill, create, and shoot it from anywhere on the floor, though this is a dozen or so picks earlier than I'd have been comfortable taking him. Grade: B-

39. Memphis Grizzlies (via Nets): SF Jaylen Wells, Washington State

Wells is an interesting gamble at this point in the draft after beginning his career at Division II Sonoma State and finishing it in the Pac-12 with Washington State. He shot well from 3-point range with Wazzu and has an ideal frame to potentially fit as a 3-and-D wing, which could make him a sneaky value add for the Grizzlies. Grade: B

40. Phoenix Suns (via Knicks): C Oso Ighodaro, Marquette

Phoenix acquired this pick via the Knicks and selected Ighodaro, giving them a springy lob threat and all-around forward who presents versatility on defense and as a passer. He has room to grow his game on offense as a shooter and only took two 3s in four college seasons, but what he does, he does well. Grade: B

41. Philadelphia 76ers (via Bulls): C Adem Bona, UCLA

Philly has been trying for years to find viable frontcourt support next to Joel Embiid, and it might have stumbled into something here. Bona's a high-flier with relentless energy as a big who brings a 7-4 wingspan and can be impactful around the rim on both ends. Grade: A-

42. Charlotte Hornets (via Rockets): PG KJ Simpson, Colorado

Simpson had a tremendous pre-draft process, standing out at the NBA Combine by flashing his burst and electricity to breeze by defenders with the ball in his hands. He's a speedy combo guard who has made strides as a shooter and passer, though because of his smaller frame and questions about his defense it may be tough for him to become a regular contributor. Grade: C

43. Atlanta Hawks (via Heat): SF Nikola Djurisic, Serbia

Atlanta acquired this pick and Djurisic from Miami on draft day in yet another signal that the Hawks may be fine leaning into a rebuild around No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. The Serbian wing has great size and is a crafty scorer for his position. At 20 years old, he is a worthwhile developmental project for the Hawks. Grade: A

44. Miami Heat (via Rockets): SG Pelle Larsson, Arizona

Miami traded down one spot from 43 to 44 to select Larson here. He's a dynamic wing who can play both on and off the ball coming off a career year with Arizona where he shot 42.6% from 3 and had a career-high in assists. Grade: B+

45. Toronto Raptors (via Kings): PG Jamal Shead, Houston

Toronto gets a bargain at No. 45 with one of the best college players of the last few years slipping to them in Round 2. Shead's a defensive hound at the point of attack who is a smidge undersized for the point guard spot but brings dynamism as a defensive disruptor and playmaker that could help earn him a role as a backup. Grade: A

46. Los Angeles Clippers (via Pacers): SG Cam Christie, Minnesota

Christie may have entered the draft a year earlier than I would have advised but has huge upside. He has great shooting ability and positional size and might've played his way into the first round discussion in 2025 had he returned to school. I had a first-round grade on him this year.  Grade: A+

47. New Orleans Pelicans (via Magic): SG Antonio Reeves, Kentucky

Orlando traded this pick to New Orleans to select Reeves, who at Kentucky grew into the team's leading scorer and a reliable flamethrower from 3-point range. Reeves will turn 24 as a rookie and is mostly a shooting specialist who doesn't add much in the way of playmaking, but if he can continue his sharpshooting in the NBA like he did in college, the Pels might have something. Grade: B+

48. San Antonio Spurs (via Lakers): SF Harrison Ingram, North Carolina

San Antonio gets Ingram a dozen spots lower than where I had him ranked – and in a situation where he should thrive. Ingram is a glue guy who adds toughness, rebounding and shooting to the forward spot and should give the Spurs roster flexibility around Victor Wembanyama. Grade: A

49. Indiana Pacers (via Cavaliers): PG Tristen Newton, Connecticut

Newton began his career at East Carolina before becoming a staple on each of UConn's most recent title winners. He led the Huskies and their 37-win team last year in scoring and assists and has the passing vision and size to, in time, develop into a backup point guard. Grade: B

50. Indiana Pacers (via Pelicans): PF Enrique Freeman, Akron

Indiana was the team I had mocked to select Freeman. He's a big forward who dominated at Akron in the latter half of his career with his size and rebounding ability. He tied the Division I record with 31 double-doubles last season and led the nation in rebounding in 2021-22. The downside is he's not a great shooter and turns the ball over too often.  Grade: C+

51. Dallas Mavericks (via Knicks): PF Melvin Ajinça, France

Yes, yes,  another  Frenchman off the board. Ajinça had a productive season in the LNB Pro A this past year and brings good size and defensive versatility to the table. He needs to improve his offense and become more consistent as a shooter to stick in the NBA. Grade: C-

52. Golden State Warriors: C Quinten Post, Boston College

GSW adds size and shooting with a stretch big in Post. He's a 7-footer who shot 39% from 3 for his career but may struggle to defend in space with slow foot speed. If asked only to rebound, defend in the paint and occasionally step out for corner 3s, he could develop into some sort of contributor. Grade: C+

53. Memphis Grizzlies (via Pistons): SG Cam Spencer, Connecticut

Spencer finished as the second-leading scorer on a 37-win UConn team that won the national title. He's a shot-maker who rated as one of the best jump shooters in college last season and has versatility to be a threat both off the catch and pulling up off the bounce. For a Memphis team that values proven college producers, he makes a lot of sense. Grade: B

54. Boston Celtics (via Mavericks): PF Anton Watson, Gonzaga

Brad Stevens gets the benefit of the doubt on draft picks for at least one more year after guiding Boston to the title, but the selection of Watson at No. 54 is a bit perplexing. He wasn't a top-100 prospect on the CBS Sports Big Board and profiles as an undersized forward who spent five seasons at Gonzaga. Grade: C-

55. Los Angeles Lakers (via Clippers): SG Bronny James, USC

As expected, the Lakers unite LeBron James with his eldest son, Bronny, pairing the two in purple and gold. Bronny struggled last season with USC after suffering sudden cardiac arrest last summer and beginning the season recovering from the incident. He's a toolsy defender with a high IQ who plays hard and smart, though, and in time I think we'll find that this developmental pick was more than just ceremonial to make "The King" happy. Grade: B

56. New York Knicks (via Suns): SF Kevin McCullar Jr., Kansas

What a value for the Knicks in the third-to-last pick of the draft. McCullar was a top-40 prospect on my board and could be a rotation player early in New York. He's a versatile wing who plays with relentlessness on the glass and on defense and has made significant strides as a shooter. Grade: A

57. Toronto Raptors (via Grizzlies): C Ulrich Chomche, Cameroon

Toronto trades for pick No. 57 and selects Chomche, the first product of NBA Academy Africa to be drafted. Chomche caught the eyes of evaluators at the Combine earlier this year and has steadily risen in recent weeks. A 6-foot-10 big with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, he's developmentally raw as a player but has real upside given his tools and athleticism. Grade: C+

58. New York Knicks (via Mavericks): C Ariel Hukporti, Germany

New York makes use of the last pick of the draft in selecting German center Ariel Hukporti. Hukporti had a productive season as a rebounder in the NBL and showed flashes as a rim-runner and lob threat. He brings energy and athleticism to the center spot. Grade: B

Zach Edey Was The NBA Draft's Biggest Winner

Maurya kumpatla | jun 29, 2024.

Zach Edey, a first-round draft pick for the Grizzlies, smiles during a press conference to introduce the team’s 2024 NBA Draft picks at FedExForum on Friday, June 28, 2024.

  • Memphis Grizzlies
  • Purdue Boilermakers

After failing to trade up for Donovan Clingan on draft night, the Memphis Grizzlies selected Zach Edey with the No. 9 overall pick. While it came to many people's surprise, as Edey was constantly mocked in the mid-to-late teens, the Grizzlies addressed their needs for screening, interior scoring, and rebounding.

The biggest winner here is Edey, though. The 7-foot-4 big man will have the pleasure of playing with Ja Morant, one of the league's best playmakers. Morant will be able to find Edey on lobs out of pick-and-rolls and cuts in the dunker's spot. Edey will also be able to clean the offensive glass for Morant; he often draws multiple defenders when driving into the paint and shooting a layup or floater and Edey, who is the greatest rebounding prospect ever, will be able to capitalize on those 4-on-3 advantages by securing offensive rebounds.

Edey will also have the pleasure of sharing time with Marcus Smart and Jaren Jackson Jr. on the court. Smart's excellent screen navigation makes Edey's job as a pick-and-roll drop defender easier, while Jackson Jr.'s excellent ground coverage gives him a larger margin for error.

Edey will also make other people's lives easier too, though.

At 7-foot-4 and 300 lbs, he'll come into the NBA instantly as one of the best screeners. His screens will be able to create advantages on the perimeter, advantages that are key for Morant to attack and get deep into the paint. He benefitted from this a lot with Steven Adams, and now, he'll be able to benefit from Edey,

The former Boilermaker also excels as a drop defender. With a 7-foot-10 wingspan, solid mobility, and good rim protection, he is one of the better drop defenders in the 2024 class. This allows Jackson Jr. to slide back to the 4 on defense, where he can focus on 'roaming' off the ball and wreaking havoc by disrupting driving lanes in the gaps, closing passing lanes, and coming over to protect the rim. That's where he's at his best, not as a pick-and-roll defender.

The mutualistic style in which Edey and the Grizzlies both make each other better is why it is one of the best fits in the 2024 draft.
