About this cruise

We knew exactly what we were doing when we named this ship Carnival Magic... and we're sure you'll agree.

At 1,004 feet, this one continued the Dream class tradition of large-scale, bow-to-stern cruise ship fun including the food-and-entertainment space Ocean Plaza, the splashy stylings of Carnival WaterWorks™... and The Lanai, a convenient, scenic half-mile outdoor wraparound promenade deck. In other words, a cruise on Carnival Magic has no shortage of its namesake charm!

It's no surprise Carnival Magic debuted all-new ways to have a good time onboard, and continues to prove it with the outdoor fitness-and-fun of SportSquare™, featuring the world's first ropes course at sea. This is also the ship that introduced the world to Cucina del Capitano®, which serves up Italian favourites fit for a captain. Who can forget their first taste of RedFrog Pub®, with its laid back, not-a-worry-to-be-found atmosphere... plus its exclusive, tasty, not-a-drop-to-be-found (on land, that is) beer, ThirstyFrog® Red. And if you wanted to visit the original Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse™... guess which ship you'd check out!

Keeping with the times, Carnival Magic features the delicious good times of Guy's Burger Joint™, BlueIguana Cantina™, Alchemy Bar® and RedFrog Rum Bar®. And keeping with the moves, there's even Lip Sync Battle™: Carnival, which lets you showcase yours up on stage.

Carnival Magic has a history of starting good things... and sharing them with guests.

Seaday Brunch

Forget what “they” say — the most important meal of the day is brunch. Slumberers can sleep in and still enjoy breakfast favourites, while early-risers get a head-start on lunch. And Seaday Brunch brings everybody’s favourite mid-morning meal to your Carnival cruise, and does it right. You’ll enjoy huevos rancheros, special french toast, loaded mac-n-cheese… and yes, more ways to cook eggs than we even thought was possible. Chow down and fuel up — you’ve got lots of exploring to do, across the ship, for the rest of the day.

Dining Room

“Hey, which side does the fork go on?” is a question you’ll never have to ask at a dining room dinner aboard a Carnival cruise… we set the table for you. We also bring to the table a full three courses in an experience that’s filling, but never stuffy — after all, you’re just as likely to catch waiters table-dancing as you are to order dessert. Dessert’s included (along with the rest of your meal, by the way) in your fare. But don’t skip straight to dessert, because the main course is the main attraction — drop in daily and enjoy a rotating menu of delectable favourites like steak, roasted duck, scallops and prime rib.

Tip: When you book, choose Early Dining or Late Dining for reserved seating nightly, or go with Your Time Dining to chow whenever the clock strikes “hungry.”

STEAKHOUSE SELECTIONS

Whoever said you can’t always get what you want certainly never said it on a Carnival cruise. Odds are that something from our steakhouse sounds good — filet mignon, New York Strip, lobster or surf & turf — and you know what? Now you can get these signature steakhouse dishes on your plate anytime you’re enjoying dinner in our lively main dining room. Whether you’re with friends, have the kids in tow or are just in the mood for something different in a familiar setting, you’ll find great options on your dining room menu.

DINING ROOM BREAKFAST

If looking forward to the whole day of fun that’s ahead isn’t enough to make an early riser out of you, we have something else that’s sure to do the trick. Join us for breakfast in the main dining room and sit down to the kind of menu that might make you want to start things off a little slow. Order up some eggs any way you like them… even benedict- or omelet-style with your choice of filling. Get pancakes, waffles or french toast hot off the griddle — each comes with a surprising and delicious flavour twist like vanilla, pecan or salted caramel. There’s breakfast standards like oatmeal, granola and a generous selection of fresh fruits and cereals. Add crispy bacon, awesome sausage — which is actually the only kind — or ham to any dish… or go for more of a curated flavour with a selection of breakfast entrees, including some lighter choices.

If you’re thinking that’s all nice, but who has time for all this… you do! The very first item on the menu is a plate that kicks your day off with an express selection of all the classics.

Turn your special vacation in the direction of delicious — book a table for an unforgettably delectable evening at the onboard Steakhouse. Our menu features mouthwatering premium cuts of beef cooked to your exact specifications, as well as a fantastic selection of seafood, entrées, gourmet appetisers... and even a wine list that got the nod from Wine Spectator. (They actually call it the Award of Excellence.) The Steakhouse’s atmosphere pairs remarkably well with, and perhaps even enhances, the culinary creations of our gourmet chefs.

Tip: Like any destination restaurant, reservations are highly recommended, and can be made online after booking your cruise. Your meal includes an appetiser, salad, entrée, side, and dessert.

Mongolian Wok

Chow down on some delicious Asian goodness. First, select your noodles and veggies. Then tell one of our chefs which sauce and meat you want in the wok. Will it be mussels and Szechuan? Beef and Thai barbecue? Chicken and black bean? Don’t worry, the decision doesn’t have to be final — you can come back to Mongolian Wok and try all the combos your heart desires!

The Chef's Table

Treat your taste buds to the experience of a lifetime, culminating in a sumptuous multi-course dinner hosted by the Master Executive Chef. Your VIP experience starts with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for a select group of 14, followed by a mind-blowing full-service dinner of amazing appetisers, entrees and desserts not found on our regular dining menus.

Tip: Reserve early because this once-in-a-lifetime experience has limited seating. Reservations can be made at the ship’s Guest Services desk.

Pause your vacation and treat yourself to a well-deserved break with a specialty coffee drink or freshly-brewed tea… plus some delicious homemade pastries. Or, for an even sweeter option, stop by for a milkshake, slice of cake or cookie.

Cucina del Capitano®

The iconic red and white checkered tablecloth in your neighbourhood Italian trattoria means you’re in for a certain kind of dining experience. At a table such as this, who’s gathered around is just as important as what’s being served, and we see these as the two halves of the experience at Cucina del Capitano®. Atop our tablecloth you’ll enjoy courses of dishes — antipasti, entrées, pasta and desserts — inspired by our Italian captains’ and officers’ childhoods. It’s all served famiglia-style, because we know that sharing tales of your day’s adventures is best with large plates and great company. Speaking of which, the walls are not only adorned with old snapshots from the crew’s family albums, but you might even find the captain dining at his own table in the corner… all evidence that the rustic Italian country-home atmosphere you see is no façade.

Tip: Reservations aren’t required, but to get the best seating and times, we recommend making a reservation. You can make one online after booking your cruise.

Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse

When the cool ocean breeze hits your nose with the sweet smell of smoke, you know you better follow it to Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse. At this onboard, open-air spot, Guy's doin’ his authentic, real-deal barbecue, his way. The Barbecue Hall of Famer is bringin’ some big time meats like Championship Pork Butt, Smoked Round of Beef, Smoked Andouille Sausage and his famous Blue Ribbon Chicken as well as rockin’ sides like Mac Daddy Mac n Cheese, Old Skool Potato Salad and Collard Greens. Throw in his signature line of barbecue sauces and you’ve got a rockin’ sea day on deck.

Lido Marketplace

Featuring an amazing variety of casual dining spots, each just a few flip-flopped steps from the last, Lido Marketplace always has a special something ready to satisfy your latest craving spectacularly. Here we do it with dozens of what-to-eat options... great choices like BBQ, a deli counter, salad bar, an Asian station and a pasta bar... plus one spot where the chef serves up a different surprise daily! At Lido Marketplace, there’s tons of indoor and outdoor seating made for gathering around, so you can enjoy your personal faves in your favourite company for lunch or dinner, or even breakfast! Lido’s also where you can find soft serve, frozen yogurt and fresh pizza 24 hours a day... which so far seems to be enough to satisfy everybody.

The Captain's Pasta Bar

Cooked-to-order, tossed in your favorite sauces and hand-spiced by our chefs before being served al dente and always fresh, delicious pasta specialties delight your taste buds at The Captain’s Pasta Bar. Open for lunch and located at Cucina del Capitano, this pasta bar is the perfect place to get great linguine, penne and more, all served in a quaint, authentic Italian setting.

24-Hour Room Service

So you're in the mood for some good eats, but you’d rather stay in your comfy, cozy stateroom? Really, who could blame you? Simply pick up the phone and order something tasty from our extensive room service menus. And since you get hungry when you get hungry, room service is available any time of the day (or night), and it’s always delivered right to your door.

Tip: There’s a menu of salads, sandwiches and sweet stuff we’ll bring you — completely free — during the day, plus hot food options available for a small fee. Late-night menu options (after 10 PM) are also available for a small fee.

Got room for dessert? Sure you do! Swirls™ ice cream lets you enjoy the sweeter side of brain freeze with a treat that’ll have you smiling from ear to ear. Choose from chocolate, vanilla or strawberry… or make your own mix swirled as high as you can balance it. Open on Lido deck 24/7, our frozen yogurt and soft-serve ice cream is a great way to beat the heat all day, or the perfect nightcap after a long evening of fun.

There’s nothing sweeter than a visit to Sweet Spot for our specially-made marble chocolate cheesecake, lemon cream pies, cherry crumble squares and more. There’s always something for everyone, including healthier options like fresh fruit medleys. Save room for dessert — or skip the meal altogether — and make sure you satisfy your sweet tooth with this mix of desserts that really hit the spot.

Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast

Pack your imagination, but don’t forget your appetite as the whole family embarks on a breakfast that’s part meal, and part journey into the deliciously whimsical world of Dr. Seuss®.

Sit down to a truly fantastical feast at the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends™. Bright colours and patterns decorate your table, which features fun and unique menus.

Feast! Feast! Feast! Lose yourself exploring a delicious menu where you’ll find “Green Eggs and Ham,” brightly coloured fruit, gravity-defying pancake stacks, funky french toast, “Moose Juice” ‘n’ ”Goose Juice”… and much more. (Classic breakfast offerings are available as well.) Breakfast is also the perfect time to meet and greet the stars of Dr. Seuss — characters will be around for special photo opportunities and fun interactions, making this a meal to remember.

NOTE: This experience may not be available when you cruise.

Guy’s Burger Joint

We went looking for someone to help us grill up the best burgers at sea, and we found just the guy. Carnival has teamed up with best-selling author, restaurateur and Food Network personality Guy Fieri to bring all the authentic appeal of a roadside burger shack to Guy’s Burger Joint, the cool poolside spot for hot burgers and hand-cut fries. Try a fresh-off-the-grill burger Guy’s way, or take it off-road to our toppings bar and truly make it your own.

BlueIguana Cantina™

Nobody knows Mexican dining like a blue iguana. Well, our blue iguana, at least. That’s why it should come as no surprise that the BlueIguana Cantina™ features freshly made tacos and burritos stuffed specially for your enjoyment. Throw our homemade tortillas and salsa into the mix, and you have a casual dining experience that will make you say “mmmm” (which is actually Iguanese for “more, please”).

Pizza Delivery

So here's the problem: you're having an amazing fun time on your cruise and a craving strikes. You need pizza! Your options are: 1) let the craving go, 2) put the fun on hold to go get a slice, 3) pull out your phone and snap a selfie — and now one's on its way! If you're wondering when you became a wizard, may we remind you that you actually used the Carnival Hub app? Any time of day, or night, pick your toppings, tell us where on the ship you’re hanging out and, optionally, take a selfie to help the delivery folks find you. (Delivery’s just $5 per pie… and the pizzas are always free!) Wow, you look hungry — we'll get a fresh one on its way to you, ASAP(izza)!

Seafood Shack™

A good seafood dish is quite the catch. However you like yours served — whether it’s on a roll or a platter — Seafood Shack’s™ the place to cast your net. Imagine a New-England-style seaside spot where you can take it all in, enjoying a great meal complete with a side of ocean view. On a Carnival cruise is where you’ll find this shack by the sea, wherever in the world you happen to be!

Pizzeria del Capitano

On Carnival ships, the captain tends to be kind of a big deal — almost a celebrity. On a few select ships, they’ve even got their own pizza kitchen. The best part? Pizzeria del Capitano is open to everyone, 24 hours a day! And since our captains tend to be Italian, you know the quality of the ingredients truly pass muster. (Sorry, nautical pun.) Hand-tossed dough, made from imported Italian flour, plus fresh mozzarella form a solid base, and a choice of toppings put the finishing touches on this piping hot, fresh-from-the-oven mealtime — or anytime — classic. (Also, try our caesar salad — buono, capisce?)

The Carnival Deli

Looking for a little taste from the old neighbourhood? Pile 'em high at the Carnival Deli. Enjoy old time favourites like a hot pastrami on rye, grilled Reuben, or roasted turkey breast on a country roll. Our sandwiches and wraps are always hand-carved and served fresh with coleslaw or relish. Come by, satisfy your craving for a great sandwich and make sure you don’t forget the kosher dill.

Kids' Menu

Our kids’ menus, available at most onboard dining venues, feature foods that are delicious enough — and fun enough — to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. We’ve got all the familiar options they love from home, like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and — yes mom — fresh fruit and veggies. They should save room for dessert, though, because with sweet stuff like banana splits and chocolate brownies, your young’uns are going to be pretty excited. There’s even 24-hour pizza and ice cream… but these are subject to bed-time, of course.

A few things make a successful pasta dish: fresh ingredients, the right blend of spices and sauces… and of course, al dente preparation. The care and know-how of an experienced pasta pro takes it to the next level — and you’ll find them at The Captain’s Pasta Bar. Start with the pasta you’re in the mood for — linguine, farfalle, penne anyone? — then select your choice of sauce and meat, and they’ll cook it up in the same Italian culinary tradition we bring to the table nightly at Cucina del Capitano®. While you’re lunching, take in the dining room’s rustic Italian country home design… there’s nothing like atmosphere to bring out the flavour in a dish.

RedFrog® Pub

Get into an island state of mind before you even set foot on one. RedFrog® Pub is our laid-back, no-worries, oh-so-lively Key West-inspired pub. Sample Caribbean fare, dominate at the foosball table, enjoy some sweet tunes from live musicians and sip our tasty signature private-label brew, ThirstyFrog® Red. So kick back and feel the island vibe come to life. You’ll be a local here before you know it.

Note: Food menu is available on Carnival Breeze® and Carnival Magic®, for an additional cost.

Hey Everyone!

We just got back from the 8 day Southern Caribbean aboard the beautiful Carnival Horizon. The ship is amazing, Mike did an incredible job, and overall we had a wonderful cruise.

I have copies of fun times, menus (I'm missing a few here and there), and some miscellaneous pictures of the ship, food, and ports.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them!

I'm not a big drinker at all, but decided to get CHEERS. I like to have as much pre-paid as I can so avoid a huge bill in the end. It allowed me to try new things and not worry about the individual price. I managed to order 56 drinks over the 8 days, which averages to 7 a day. So I'd like to think I broke even at least. LOL

Here are a few I ordered (Definitely forgot pictures of a lot of them)

Thanks for the review- boy am I hungry right now!!!

Seriously, I would go for Cheers as well if I was the only adult in the cabin, but unfortunately my hubby qualifies as an adult (technically, at least although it's debatable!) and doesn't drink at all so it's not worth it to me. Otherwise I'd get it for just the reason you did!

ProgRockCruiser

Thanks for the review!

We're doing a S Carib in a couple of years, slightly different itinerary (Grand Turk and Aruba are the two ports in common, but we have four sea days, with Bonaire as the other port!), but I'd still love to hear about all the ports - especially since we want to get to Curacao eventually.

And your food porn reminded me how much we enjoyed the MDR this past cruise.  Yum!

250+ Club

This was awesome! Thanks for doing it. What were your favorites?

Also, your daughters are gorgeous!

Jenjer

Thank You so much for the menus and food pics.

I am the planner and the picky eater so it has really helped me pick what days to eat in the MDR and what days to plan on going some place else....not like there are not options.

Especially liked the Ocean plaza Breakfast pics, since that is supposed to be the easiest place to grab some breakfast

I am sure this has been answered, but I couldn't find it!  Is there refridgerators in the cabins on the Horizon?

Roz

Thank you for taking the time to post your photos and answer questions.  My next Carnival cruise isn't until February 2020 - can't wait!

Thank You for posting the Fun Times and menus- very helpful as I am going on this same itinerary in June.

Could you comment on the excursions you took in the different ports?

Princess Cruises is launching its largest-ever Caribbean cruise season in 2026, sailing to all regions of the Caribbean for the first time in the company’s history.

Travelers will be able to choose from 90 different voyages during the summer of 2026 on two of its ships, the Regal Princess and the Caribbean Princess , according to the cruise line . The two ships will depart from Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale and Port Canaveral, respectively.

“Princess continues to expand access to our world-class premium experience now operating from eight North America homeports,” John Padgett, the president of Princess Cruises, said in a statement. “With ships now departing from both Central Florida and South Florida, it’s easier and more convenient than ever to set sail aboard the iconic Love Boat.”

From Ft. Lauderdale, travelers can venture out on 7-day Eastern or Western Caribbean sailings to destinations like San Juan, Cozumel, and Grand Turk, or cruise on 8-day Southern Caribbean sailings to ports like Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. Or combine them on a 14-day trip to visit multiple regions.

From Port Canaveral, travelers can board a 7-day trip to the Eastern or Western Caribbean. These trips can also be combined into a 14-day sailing.

The company’s 2026 voyages are now available to book with Princess . As a bonus, travelers who are members of the company’s Captain’s Circle loyalty program will receive up to $200 in onboard credits when they book a summer 2026 cruise by Oct. 31. Members will receive $50 per person for voyages lasting seven to 10 days and $100 per person for combined 14-day voyages.

Travelers heading on a Princess Cruises trip have a more convenient way to get there thanks to the company’s partnership with high-speed rail company Brightline . As part of the “Rail & Sail" feature, Princess will provide a complimentary motorcoach service between either Brightline’s Orlando or Fort Lauderdale train stations and the embarkation terminal.

12 epic around-the-world cruises that will check off all your bucket list travel destinations

Janice Wald Henderson

Imagine the joys of traveling seamlessly from one bucket list country to another without packing and unpacking, switching hotels, boarding countless flights, or even doing laundry.

Think it's a fantasy? It's actually a world cruise, the nirvana of many oceangoing devotees. As a bonus, most of these around-the-world voyages include enviable perks, like precruise hotel stays, alcohol, shipboard credit, exclusive-access shore excursions — and, yes, laundry service.

Retired, taking a job hiatus or working remotely? A world cruise is a safe, easy and exhilarating way to score a global adventure beyond compare. You might even make new lifelong friends sharing similar interests.

So, pull out your travel wish list and find an itinerary for those coveted destinations.

Here, you can learn more about what's involved in an around-the-world cruise and drool over 12 terrific choices across a range of fares for an incredible monthslong voyage at sea.

What is a world cruise?

Never mind the moniker, a world cruise might visit several continents but not circumnavigate the globe. Cruise lines usually designate one ship (a few offer two) to sail about 100 days or longer — some even sail more than 200 days — without repeating ports.

World cruises traditionally start in January and end around April or May. They sail round-trip from one American city, such as San Francisco or Miami, or offer a choice of starting points on both coasts, making access easy.

What to know about world cruises

8 day exotic southern caribbean cruise

With so few world cruises available, book far in advance. Bookings open roughly two years in advance, and some small-ship cruises sell out within hours. You'll need the extra time to make arrangements to leave your home for months. For that reason, this story will focus on 2026 world cruises.

Related: Hot cruises you'll need to book at least 1 year in advance — maybe even 2!

Around-the-world cruise cost

Such lengthy sailings cost plenty. The lines with bigger ships offer the lowest fares, although extra fees for what's not included (such as shore excursions and alcohol) can add up quickly. If contemplating a big-ship voyage, read the inclusions carefully, as they vary among lines.

Luxury vessels bundle many costly amenities into the fare, like business- or first-class plane tickets and luxury hotel stays, and charge the most. They also deliver fine dining, pampering service, glam surroundings and impressive special events. (Silversea Cruises has previously rented out an entire island to entertain its world-cruise guests.)

Thus, expect considerable price differences. Count on spending about $20,000 per person minimum to score an entry-level accommodation on the bigger ships and approximately $80,000 to $90,000 per person for an ultraluxury vessel.

Note that for the poshest lines, "entry-level" might mean a spacious, elegant suite with a veranda. For other lines, the most basic cabin is a small, windowless room.

World Voyage

Thanks to an overwhelming response to its previous world cruises (2025 is currently sold out), Azamara announced the itinerary for 2026 aboard the 684-passenger Azamara Onward.

Azamara Onward is the newest ship to join the Miami-based line's four-vessel fleet. The ship's size provides an intimate experience and allows it to call on small towns bigger ships can't access.

For 2026, the 155-night, 36-country voyage begins in Miami and ends in Barcelona, with visits to exciting locales in Ecuador, Chile, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Dubai, Greece and others.

Along the way, world cruisers can sample authentic Ecuadorian cuisine; explore the unspoiled beaches and lush parks of Tauranga, New Zealand; and take in the diverse landscape and wildlife of the Galapagos Islands.

The itinerary will include a presailing welcome party, exclusive cultural events, concierge service and other upscale perks.

The 2026 world cruise departs Jan. 6, 2026. Prices start at $85,822 per person for an inside cabin.

World Cruise

If luxury and unparalleled personal service are important to you, consider Crystal 's 2026 world cruise aboard Crystal Serenity .

The beloved upscale line went bankrupt and stopped sailing in 2022. However, luxury tour operator Abercrombie & Kent acquired it and brought it back to life with a $150 million glow-up, starting with 740-passenger Crystal Serenity.

With renovated expansive suites, an array of social areas and nearly one staff member per guest, Crystal Serenity offers ultimate comfort, quality and personalization. Every cabin comes with a butler ready to assist with reservations, laundry and any other needs you have during your global odyssey.

Beginning in Los Angeles and concluding in Civitavecchia, Italy (the port for Rome), the world cruise spans 135 nights with visits to 27 countries. The cruise kicks off with a welcome celebration, and guests can enjoy themed onboard and shoreside events and gala dinners throughout the sailing.

Exciting destinations along the way include Fiji, New Zealand, Indonesia, China, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Greece. Passengers can savor the unspoiled beaches of Fiji, enjoy street food in Sri Lanka's capital city and celebrate like a Greek god on Mount Olympus, among other events.

Custom excursions and pre- and post-cruise tours organized by Abercrombie & Kent are available along the way (for an additional cost).

Departs Jan. 11, 2026. Prices start at $69,120 per person for an ocean-view cabin.

Cunard Line

Explore the world aboard Queen Anne, Cunard's first new ship in 12 years. The 2,996-passenger vessel debuted in May 2024 and will host one of two Cunard world cruise sailings in January 2026. (Queen Mary 2 will also carry travelers across the globe in 2026.)

Queen Anne's 2026 World Voyage will span 116 nights and begin and end in Hamburg, Germany. Along the way, guests can explore historic churches in the Old Town of Lubeck, Germany, a UNESCO World Heritage site; visit traditional Thai and Buddhist temples in Penang, Malaysia; and spy leopards, rhinos and lions at a wildlife reserve in Durban, South Africa.

Passengers will enjoy spectacular new elements on this ship. The vessel's main pool area, The Pavilion, is topped with a gorgeous retractable glass roof that's not just a showpiece. The functional structure will keep poolgoers dry on rainy days.

The 2,691-passenger Queen Mary 2 sails round-trip from Southampton, England, on a 108-night world cruise . During the journey, passengers can witness firsthand the maritime marvel of the Panama Canal, explore the pristine Bay of Islands in New Zealand and tour the tombs of Egypt's ancient kings, among other memorable experiences.

If you're seeking the most luxurious accommodations and exclusive experiences on board either ship, book Princess Grill or Queens Grill suites. Fares include outstanding amenities such as private dining rooms, coffee and specialty tea service, priority boarding, and a private outdoor lounge area.

Queens Grill suite passengers receive butler service, too. However, many lovely inclusions, such as white-gloved servers presenting complimentary daily tea, are available for all guests.

The world cruise aboard Queen Anne departs Jan. 6, 2026. Prices start at $17,999 per person for an inside cabin.

Among the cities you'll explore are Barcelona; Cartagena, Colombia; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Auckland; Tokyo; Penang, Malaysia; and Aqaba, Jordan (the port for Petra).
