Compliance status

Screen-reader and keyboard navigation.

  • Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all of the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website. These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
  • Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Disability profiles supported in our website

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: this profile enables people with epilepsy to use the website safely by eliminating the risk of seizures that result from flashing or blinking animations and risky color combinations.
  • Visually Impaired Mode: this mode adjusts the website for the convenience of users with visual impairments such as Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, Glaucoma, and others.
  • Cognitive Disability Mode: this mode provides different assistive options to help users with cognitive impairments such as Dyslexia, Autism, CVA, and others, to focus on the essential elements of the website more easily.
  • ADHD Friendly Mode: this mode helps users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders to read, browse, and focus on the main website elements more easily while significantly reducing distractions.
  • Blindness Mode: this mode configures the website to be compatible with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. A screen-reader is software for blind users that is installed on a computer and smartphone, and websites must be compatible with it.
  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile enables motor-impaired persons to operate the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and the Enter keys. Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

  • Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
  • Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different coloring options.
  • Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
  • Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
  • Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
  • Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
  • Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

TAGGED AS: Binge Guide , streaming , television , TV

Doctor Who premieres its highly-anticipated 14th season to Disney+ in May. Bridgerton , Hacks , and Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire will also return for new seasons throughout the month. These are the six streaming shows you should catch up on before they kick off new seasons.

Acapulco (Apple TV+)

What it is: In the present day, older Maximo returns to a Las Colinas he no longer recognizes; in 1985, younger Maximo continues his climb up the ladder of success while potentially jeopardizing all the relationships he’s worked so hard to build. Season 3 premieres Wednesday, May 1.

Why you should watch it:  It’s an unexpected treat. Acapulco is a heartfelt dramedy that will scratch that Ted Lasso itch.

Where to watch: Apple TV+ (subscription, seasons 1-2)

Commitment: Approx. 10 hours (for seasons 1-2)

What it is: A dark mentorship forms between Deborah Vance, a legendary Las Vegas comic, and an entitled, outcast 25-year-old comedy writer. Season 3 premieres Thursday, May 2.

Why you should watch it:  Jean Smart is a powerhouse as Vance, and Hannah Einbeinder is the perfect foil as Vance’s assistant, Ava. It’s a smart, satisfying, Emmy-winning comedy that delivers the perfect amount of laughs and drama.

Where to watch: Max (subscription, seasons 1-2); buy at Vudu , Prime Video and Apple TV .

Commitment: Approx. 9 hours (for seasons 1-2)

What it is: An eccentric yet compassionate extraterrestrial Time Lord zips through time and space to solve problems alongside companions from planet Earth. Known as the Doctor, the alien adventurer travels using the TARDIS to battle injustice across the universe. Season 14 premieres Friday, May 10 on Disney+.

Why you should watch it:  Whether you’re a fan of fantasy, sci-fi, horror or comedy, Doctor Who has something that’ll probably appeal to you. The show has redesigned itself so many times, with a multitude of actors taking on the lead role, that you can easily pick and choose which time period, genre, storyline and Doctor to watch. And honestly, the show is a whole lot of fun.

Where to watch: Max (subscription, seasons 1-13); buy at Vudu , Prime Video and Apple TV . Disney+ (subscription, four specials)

Commitment: Approx. 122.4 hours (for seasons 1-13)

What it is: In the year 2022, the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac lives in Dubai and seeks to tell the story of his life or afterlife to renowned journalist Daniel Molloy. Beginning in early 20th-century New Orleans, Louis’ story follows his relationship with the vampire Lestat du Lioncourt and their formed family, including teen fledgling Claudia. Together, the vampire family endures immortality in New Orleans and beyond. As the interview continues in Dubai, Molloy discovers the truths beneath Louis’ story. Season 2 premieres Sunday, May 12.

Why you should watch it: This adaptation of Anne Rice’s iconic book series reimagines the characters and storylines with some edgy present-day sensibilities. The performances of Jacob Anderson (who plays Louis) and Sam Reid (who plays Lestat) elevate the program into must-watch territory, as their conflicted relationship lays the foundation of the whole series. In case you’re wondering, Interview With the Vampire delivers ample vampire gore and honors the horror genre without feeling ham-fisted or fan service-y. Basically, it’s not at all like the 1994 movie. And that’s a good thing.

Where to watch: AMC+ (subscription, season 1); buy at Vudu,   Prime Video , and Apple TV .

Commitment: Approx. 6 hours (for season 1)

What it is: Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future. Season 3 premieres Thursday, May 16.

Why you should watch it:  If you’re drawn to lavish set pieces, soapy romance and beautiful costumes, Bridgerton is a no-brainer. It’s a sexy series that offers copious amounts of drama, opulence and engaging performances. If you choose to watch while enjoying tea time, try not to make a mess. Because, there’s plenty of of tea to spill here.

Where to watch:   Netflix (subscription, seasons 1-2)

Commitment: Approx. 17 hours (for season 1-2)

What it is: Skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard joins David Acosta, who is training to be a Catholic priest, and a blue collar contractor as they investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences. Their job is to assess if there’s a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work, examining the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. The series is created by Robert and Michelle King. Season 4 premieres in May.

Why you should watch it: Evil has been compared to genre procedurals like The X-Files and Fringe . And those comparisons have merit. It may not get as deep, dark, and bloody as other network genre shows, but the chemistry of the cast and intelligence of the subject matter makes this a fun one to dig into.

Where to watch:   Paramount+ (subscription, seasons 1-3); buy at Vudu , Prime Video , and Apple TV .

Commitment: Approx. 5 hours (for season 1)

500,000 Fans Attend Historic 2024 New Orleans Jazz Fest

Article contributed by festival produ… | published on monday, may 6, 2024.

best vampire tour new orleans

Adding an extra day and bringing the Rolling Stones to the event for the first time, the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell was attended by 500,000 fans, Jazz Fest organizers announced today. During the expanded 8-day format, the Festival played out almost entirely under sunny skies as it shined a light on the importance of New Orleans to American and world culture.

“This year’s Festival presented as plainly as ever the beauty of Jazz Fest,” said Quint Davis, Producer/Director of the event. “Watching the Rolling Stones perform with New Orleans and Louisiana stars Irma Thomas and Dwayne Dopsie was to witness the power of the Festival to demonstrate the connection of our culture to some of the greatest music of our time.”

Over its two weekends Jazz Fest presented the region’s best music—blues, gospel, rock, R & B, traditional and contemporary jazz, Cajun and zydeco, brass band and Mardi Gras Indian music, and much more—along with the greatest American roots and world music. Jazz Fest also served up more than 100 different dishes of Louisiana’s irresistible cuisine from a menu that offers fine-dining quality food in a festival setting. Three acclaimed arts and crafts fairs also offered handmade crafts from Louisiana and beyond.

The historic, sold out appearance of the Rolling Stones on Thursday, May 2 was the triumphant conclusion of a 5-year effort to bring the band to Jazz Fest, after cancellations in 2019 and 2021. Few Festival performances have been more anticipated, and even fewer, if any, better received by fans. Other highlights this year included: Jon Batiste’s only-in-New-Orleans set that paid homage to the city’s piano legends, including Professor Longhair, Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint; the Foo Fighters electric return to Jazz Fest; a multifaceted tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett, featuring a photo exhibit in the Grandstand, an emotional jazz funeral, the unveiling of a statue alongside other Jazz Fest ancestors, and culminating on the final day with a performance by the Coral Reefer Band with special guests; Chris Stapleton, the Killers, Queen Latifah, Vampire Weekend, and Fantasia’s unforgettable performances; Jazz Fest debuts by Anderson .Paak, Heart, Greta Van Fleet, Samara Joy, and others; and the return of beloved food items, such as crawfish bread, jama jama, and others to the Festival menu. The Festival’s celebration of Colombian music, art, and cuisine in and near the Expedia Cultural Exchange Pavilion was the largest presentation of its kind ever at the event, testimony to Jazz Fest’s ongoing commitment to the exploration of global culture and its relationship to New Orleans and south Louisiana.

Next year’s event is scheduled for April 24 – May 4, 2025. For the most up-to-date Jazz Fest info, visit www.nojazzfest.com and follow the Festival on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. is the nonprofit organization that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The Foundation’s proceeds from Jazz Fest are used for year-round activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment. Visit http://www.jazzandheritage.org/ for more information on the Foundation.

Shell USA is the Presenting Sponsor of the Festival. Major Jazz Fest Sponsors are Expedia, Miller Lite and Louisiana Office of Tourism. First Horizon Bank, Ochsner Health, Morris Bart, Peoples Health, Tito's Handmade Vodka, New Orleans & Company, Wild Turkey Bourbon, Rockstar Energy, Maui Jim Sunglasses, 1 Million Strong, Coca-Cola, New Orleans Tourism & Cultural Fund, Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, and WWOZ are also Official Jazz Fest Sponsors.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell is a co-production of Festival Productions, Inc.-New Orleans and AEG Presents.

Olivia Rodrigo Adds Asia and Australia Legs to Guts World Tour

Olivia Rodrigo at the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Red Carpet held at the Microsoft Theatre on November 5, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

Olivia Rodrigo will tour Asia and Australia for the first time in her career, the singer announced Wednesday. Rodrigo has added nine international dates to her massive “ Guts ” world tour for a total of 82 shows globally.

The new dates kick off Sept. 16 in Bangkok, Thailand and continue through Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne, and Sydney, wrapping up on Oct. 19 at Qudos Bank Arena. Additional dates may be added as Rodrigo wrote on social media, “Stay tuned, Manila!” Fans in the comment sections of her social posts are eager to hear when and if Rodrigo will also be adding Latin American dates to the trek but that has yet to be confirmed.

Popular on Variety

The “Guts” tour has since made stops in New York, Houston and Dublin, and will make its way towards London in the coming weeks. It will conclude on Oct. 18 in Sydney.

Tickets for the newly added Asia and Australia dates will be available starting with the American Express presale in select markets.

Rodrigo performed “Vampire” and “Get Him Back!” at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, following Lil Wayne as the second performer of the evening. It was her second-ever appearance at the show as Rodrigo made her VMAs debut in 2021 when she performed her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Good 4 U.”

“Guts” was released to high acclaim on Sept. 8 via Geffen Records and was preceded by two top 10 singles, “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?” “Vampire” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rodrigo the youngest artist to debut three No. 1 hits on the chart behind “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”

In an interview with Capital FM in England , Rodrigo said she wrote much of the songs on “Guts” with the concept of an accompanying tour “in mind.”

“I think there’s a lot of fun songs,” she said. “I wrote the album with a tour in mind, so I think they’re all songs I wanted people to be able to scream in a crowd. Hopefully, that’s what’s achieved.” A similar teaser — in the form of a faux ticket advertising “Olivia Rodrigo: Guts The World Tour” — appeared in a lyric video for “Making the Bed,” the sixth track off “Guts.”

Rodrigo last toured North America and Europe in support of her debut album “Sour” in 2022. It started on April 5 in Portland and ended on July 7 in London. Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, Chappell Roan and Baby Queen served as opening acts.
