Arrive at the airport for your flight to Malaga. On arrival, we transfer to the four-star Ilunion Hacienda del Sol. This hotel is ideally situated in undulating countryside near the village of Mijas.

After breakfast we take a drive into the hills forming the beautiful backdrop to the coast and then arrive in Ronda, a city widely acknowledged as one of the most spectacular in Spain and which enjoys a setting so naturally dramatic it could be in a fairy tale. Built on a ridge and split by a most impressive gorge plunging down hundreds of feet, much of Ronda’s appeal lies in its spectacular views and clear mountain air – Andalucía at its simple best. We continue our drive into the countryside beyond, which is both very scenic and quite isolated, so much so it is not unusual to see eagles and vultures soaring above or ibex roaming the mountains. Another treat awaits, as this evening we enjoy an introduction to delicious tapas. It is said that tapas dishes were originally slices of bread or meat used by sherry drinkers in Andalucían taverns to cover their glasses and keep fruit flies away. Over the centuries, with the introduction of olives, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes, tapas dishes gradually evolved into a most delightful tradition.

Flamboyant, seductive, fascinating … Seville is all these and more. It is simply one of the most beautiful and charismatic cities in the world, with the serene River Guadalquivir flowing through its centre, a history spanning the centuries, a wealth of historic buildings, colourful back streets and peaceful parks. It has its origins in Roman times – the Emperor Hadrian, builder of the famous wall, came from here. During the 8th century the Moors arrived, stayed for five centuries and left a unique legacy still in evidence today. However, if one event changed Seville, it was the discovery of the New World and, fittingly, Columbus is buried in the imposing cathedral. Immense wealth poured in from Spain’s new empire and catapulted Seville into one of the largest and richest cities in Europe. Much of Seville was built during this time and it seems to have changed little in the last 500 years, with tiny twisting streets and hidden squares where the locals hide from the midday sun in high summer. Today, though, it possesses a vibrant, cultural spirit that is very special. After breakfast we have a tour of this beguiling city, during which we’ll see the awe-inspiring semi-circular Plaza de España, a fine example of Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival styles of Spanish architecture. You’ll also see the Tower of Gold, so named as it was used to store plunder from the Americas, and much more. This afternoon you’re free to explore Seville at your leisure, during this time you could visit the fortified palace of the Alcázar or the world’s largest Gothic cathedral which is the final resting place of the great navigator, Christopher Columbus. Alternatively, if you wish, you could take a cruise on one of the many river boats. Signature Experiences: The magnificent Alcázar Palace is one of the world’s oldest palaces still in use as a royal house. Its origins can be traced back to the early 10th century and the palace now serves as a record of history with its fascinating blend of architectural styles and rich décor. We have included entrance to the palace this afternoon, giving you the opportunity to explore at your own pace. So, why not lose yourself amid the cool patio courtyards, elaborate gardens and fragrant orange trees and soak up the unique atmosphere of one of Europe’s oldest palaces.  You’ll feel like you have the best seats in the house at our hand-picked location, high above the rooftops of Seville. Relax with an aperitif and a mini tapas selection and make sure you have your camera ready to capture every perfect moment as the late afternoon sun lights up the city.

Today we have a free day. There are the ‘musts’ to revisit if you wish, such as the Alcázar, the fortified palace of the Moors with a richness of decoration which will astound you, and the cathedral, but also take time to wander around the Barrio Santa Cruz, the former Jewish quarter of the medieval city, and the smart pedestrianised Calle Sierpes, a street full of beautiful shops selling high-quality leather goods. The Maria Luisa Park is a beautiful display of colour where you can relax and indulge in a spot of people-watching. Signature Experience: This evening step away from the tourist trail to experience a truly authentic performance of flamenco in an intimate venue. Gain an insight into the meaning, style and rhythm of the dances - the proximity of the stage will allow you to see every mesmerising detail, and sip on a complimentary drink whilst admiring the superb artistry of the musicians and dancers. For them, flamenco is not just a job, it is a way of life.

After breakfast we leave Seville and head east to another of Andalucía’s classic cities, arriving in Córdoba for our guided tour. Córdoba was the ancient capital of the Moors and is principally famous for a single building – the Mezquita – the grandest and most beautiful mosque ever constructed in the Moorish world. Dominating the centre of the Old Town, which was once the home of a thriving Jewish community, it is a building of extraordinary power and mystery with an arcaded hall supported by over 850 columns made of semi-precious stones. One can only wonder at the architectural brilliance of the builders all those hundreds of years ago, while northern Europe was still immersed in the depths of the Dark Ages. Another highlight is the immense, well-preserved Roman bridge. Córdoba is a delightful place full of patios drenched in the colour of thousands of flowers – the Spanish seem to take so much pride decorating their homes. We then continue our journey to arrive in the city of Granada, the last stronghold of the sultans during the Middle Ages and home to the Alhambra, the most spectacular gem of Moorish Andalucía. As we approach Granada, there can be no more proof of the diversity of this corner of southern Europe. We pass through some very arid countryside with a landscape of dried riverbeds, giving way to rolling olive groves. In the distance is the spectacular Sierra Nevada, the highest mountain range in Spain. The landscape then becomes more fertile and picturesque, with ancient olive trees stretching off into the distance. Our hotel for the next two nights is either the centrally located four-star Hotel Porcel Sabica, in the heart of the city and within easy walking distance of the principal areas of interest, or the four-star Hotel Alixares, well located opposite the Alhambra. Both are fully air-conditioned and ideal for a comfortable stay.

Granada has a naturally dramatic location, nestling against the backdrop of permanently snow-capped mountains soaring majestically to a height of 11,000 feet. It is the perfect setting for the most perfect of architectural wonders, the Alhambra. So individual in its setting, so rich in its history and so exquisite in its design, this iconic building was the high point in Moorish culture. It is not just a palace, though. Some of it is a fortress, and much is given over to formal gardens full of roses and fountains, giving an incredible impression of peace and tranquillity. Today we visit the Alhambra, which for many people will be the highlight of the holiday, and you’ll also have time to explore the city as you wish. There is a myriad of twisting streets, the old Moorish quarter and the traditional gypsy area, all full of tiny unique shops, with seemingly every balcony sprouting flowers in a profusion of colour. There’s nothing better than taking a stroll through these streets, little changed in centuries, with pavements made of pebbles set in mortar and some so narrow that mules were the only form of transport. Granada also boasts some of the most distinctive old bars in Spain, many of them decorated with antique tiles, where taking a drink and a few tapas can be an excuse for a unique, authentically Andalucían experience.

It is simply one of the most beautiful and charismatic cities in the world, with the serene River Guadalquivir flowing through its centre, a history spanning the centuries, a wealth of historic buildings, colourful back streets and peaceful parks. Much of Seville was built during this time and it seems to have changed little in the last 500 years, with tiny twisting streets and hidden squares where the locals hide from the midday sun in high summer. Today, though, it possesses a vibrant, cultural spirit that is very special. The city of Figaro, this is the setting for another classic opera, Carmen. It’s also the home of flamenco, the origins of which are lost in the aeons of time. In short, this is the essence of Spain. After breakfast we have a sightseeing tour of this beguiling city, during which we’ll see the awe-inspiring semi-circular

Plaza de España, a fine example of Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival styles of Spanish architecture. You’ll also see the Tower of Gold, so named as it was used to store plunder from the Americas, and much more. During the afternoon you’re free to explore Seville at your leisure. Our travelers have three styles of tour to choose from: Basix, Original and Comfort. Each has a different level of inclusions and accommodation, but all have unforgettable real life experiences as part of the package. Travellers can also choose themed trips, such as Family, Sailing or Food, to suit their interests.

Our group size has an average of just ten travellers, which allows us to get off the beaten track, use local accommodation and transport, and really get to know the culture. It also ensures we are contributing to the local economy; by choosing local suppliers we were able to keep AUD 60 million in local economies in 2012. We’re also working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and were the first in our sector to introduce carbon offset trips. This, along with our many corporate sustainability activities, has meant we’re one of the travel industry’s leaders in responsible travel.

Despite growing into a global business with over 1,000 staff based all over the world and over 800 different trips across every continent, we’ve remained devoted to the same grassroots values and responsible travel philosophies that we had at the very beginning.

Leave Barcelona behind and travel by train to Pamplona, the heartland of the Basque country (approximately 4.5 hours). Upon arrival into Pamplona head out on an orientation walk and get acquainted with this well-preserved fortified medieval town. Pamplona, named after its founder, Pompey the Great, has served for centuries as both a military stronghold and an important point on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail. It’s also world famous as the home of the annual San Fermin, a weeklong festival that features the running of the bulls. Meander down winding alleys and step inside ornate buildings like Pamplona's Gothic cathedral – one of the most important religious structures in Spain. The city has also recently opened a museum of modern art designed by a prize-winning architect, inspired by the cultural renaissance achieved by Bilbao and its Guggenheim. Your evening is then free to do as you wish – the quality of pintxos (Basque tapas) is incredible, so be sure to tuck into some tasty morsels.

  • Pamplona - Leader led walk
  • Pamplona - Gothic Cathedral - EUR5
  • Pamplona - Ciudadella Fortress - Free
  • Pamplona - Taconera Park - Free

Today, take a bus to the stunning seaside city of San Sebastian – a jewel of the Basque country and a place obsessed with food (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes). With its family friendly beaches and vibrant old city, San Sebastian is a fantastic place to stroll along the promenade, shop, or just to soak up the sun. When you arrive, get an overview of the most central beach, La Concha, with an included cable car journey to Monte Igueldo. Then, why not wander around the Parte Vieja (Old Town), a mix of alleyways wedged between the bay and the Urumea River? Otherwise, head to Playa de Gros and watch the surfers riding the waves of Biscay Bay. This evening make sure you hit the neighbourhood's streets and dig into the region's specialties.

  • San Sebastian - Monte Igueldo Funicular (Igeldo Funikularra)

You’ll have a full day to explore San Sebastian, giving you plenty of time to catch the 1-hour local bus to Bilbao, if you’d like. If you do decide to venture to Bilbao, the world-famous and architecturally sublime Guggenheim Museum is a must visit. If you have enough time in the afternoon, the San Telmo Museum displays history, art and photography of the Basque country. In the evening, it might be a good idea to enjoy another night of delicious food. San Sebastian is home to some of the world’s best restaurants, most experimental chefs and a distinct food culture, so be sure to get your fix tonight.

  • San Sebastian - Catedral del Buen Pastor - Free
  • Bilbao - Guggenheim Museum - EUR16
  • San Sebastian - San Telmo Museum - EUR6
  • San Sebastian - Catamaran Boat Trip - EUR10

Take the short journey by public bus to the prized vineyards of the Rioja wine region and Logrono (approximately 2 hours). The town sits on the banks of the Ebro River and is the capital of Spain’s most renowned wine region. The city is rich in history and traditions, preserved since the Middle Ages. It also boasts one of the most distinguished culinary traditions in the county, home to some of the best tapas bars in the whole of Spain, all crammed into its small medieval centre. After checking in to your accommodation for tonight, the rest of the day is free to explore. Stroll the streets of this favourite stop for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela, a handsome city of medieval fortifications, where much work is being done to restore it to its full glory. This evening, head out on an included 'txikiteo' of pintxos: a Basque-style tapas crawl that will fill your senses (and stomach) with the unique tastes of the region. Don’t forget to wash them down with a signature fizzy white wine, known as a txakoli. The tapas bars right around the medieval Old Town compete to get your business which means incredibly high standards, so be ready to eat well.

  • Logrono - Txikiteo of Pintxos (Tapas Crawl)

Logrono is central to Spain’s wine industry, and their tradition of winemaking dates back to the first Phoenician settlers back in the 11th century BC. The city is not only surrounded by vines but has always treated wine with great respect. It is hard to imagine, but in 1635 the traffic of metal-wheeled carriages was forbidden in Old Town by law, as it was feared that vibration caused would disturb the wines resting in cellars below. Today you’ll head out on an included winery visit to enjoy sampling wines made from the indigenous grapes of La Rioja, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Viura and Malvasia at a local bodega. Visit the wine museum (season depending) to learn more about this region's famous tipple. If the weather is on your side, stroll through enchanting vineyards and learn what goes on behind the scenes.

  • Logrono - Museo de la Rioja - Free
  • Logrono - San Bartolome Church - Free
  • Logrono - Cathedral - Free

Journey on the bus or train to Madrid this morning, which should take between 4 and 5 hours. On arrival, after checking in your hotel, set off for an orientation walk with your group leader. There is plenty to do and see in Madrid and you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. Paseo del Arte (Art Walk) gives a great panoramic perspective of western art history. Perhaps wander through the pristine gardens of Real Jardin Botanico and then delve deeper into the art of the city at Museo Reina Sofia and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. If you're lucky enough for your trip to fall on match day, you could don a white t-shirt and head to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium to watch the mighty Real Madrid.

  • Madrid - Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza - EUR13
  • Madrid - Real Jardín Botánico - EUR6
  • Madrid - Museo del Prado - EUR15
  • Madrid - Museo Reina Sofia - EUR10
  • Madrid - Royal Palace - EUR14
  • Madrid - Tapas Urban Adventure - EUR99
  • Madrid - Museo Taurino - EUR15

Madrid is all yours to explore today at your own pace. As this is a combination trip, your group leader and the composition of your group will likely change at this location. This stage of your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6 pm tonight. As there's limited time for sightseeing in Madrid, booking a few extra days isn't a bad idea. After the welcome meeting, perhaps get into the mind of a Madrileno with some tapas and Rioja with your fellow travellers.

It’s very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance details and next of kin information at this time. If you are going to be late please let your travel agent or hotel reception know. Ask reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place. If you can't arrange a flight that will have you arrive at the hotel by early evening, you may wish to arrive a day or two early. We'll be happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability).

Take a bus to Granada today. Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Granada is packed with Moorish architecture, great tapas bars and natural beauty. Take a walk around the old Arab quarter of the Albaicin, a labyrinth of crooked alleys, fountains, plazas and whitewashed houses, or the 'Alcaiceria' (old silk market area) and observe the craftworks on sale that include ceramics, marquetry and leather goods. If you're feeling energetic, climb the steep streets up to the Mirador de San Nicolas for sunset views over the famous Alhambra. If you have time, perhaps check out the historic Renaissance Cathedral and Capilla Real, or watch the world go by as you indulge in some tapas at a bar. Granada is the kind of city to leave your guidebook behind and trust your intuition.

Your travel time today will be approximately 5 hours.

Today make a visit to Granada's impressive Alhambra Palace. An entrance ticket is included in the trip and grants you the visit of the Palace and the Gardens. Discover this 11th-century marvel and its dominating red fortress towers, palace decor, architectural styles, and magnificent gardens. It's all set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains. With fountains, impeccably maintained hedges and pools, centuries-old defensive walls, turrets, and views overlooking Granada, this renowned palace will not disappoint. Make sure you allow enough time as the Alhambra is made up of three parts: the Alcazaba, the 11th-century Muslim wing which features spectacular views from its towers; the Palacio Nazaries, the centre of the complex; and Generalife, the summer palace of the sultans. After your visit ask your leader to take you deeper into Granada’s Moorish Albaicin quarter and to the area of traditional tea houses. The view from this area across to the Alhambra Palace is not to be missed. Tonight, perhaps meet up again with the group for dinner.

  • Granada - Guided Visit to Alhambra Palace & Gardens
  • Granada - Mirador de San Nicolas - Free
  • Granada - Science Park - EUR7
  • Granada - Science Park Planetarium - EUR2
  • Granada - Catedral de Granada - EUR6
  • Granada - Capilla Real - EUR6

Due to high demand and to be able to control visitor numbers, local authorities have implemented a timed ticket slot system for the Alhambra Palace. Depending on your departure date the time of your group's visit can vary. Please note that tickets are nominative, and you will need to advise us of your passport details at the time of booking as we are unable to organise tickets for you without them. Details will be counter checked at the entrance, so make sure you bring your passport with you at the time of the visit.

Travel by bus and train this morning to the vibrant city of Seville. If the legends are to be believed, Seville was founded by Hercules and its origins are linked with the Tartessian civilisation. After the Christian reconquest, it became thought of as the portal to the 'New World', and is today the capital of Andalucia and the largest city in southern Spain. Known for its important monuments and fascinating history, Seville is universally famous for being a joyous town. Sevillians are well known for their wit and sparkle, and the city itself is striking for its vitality and flamboyance – the city of Carmen, Don Juan and Figaro. Seville is also famous for its oranges, tapas and flamenco, all three of which are ingrained in the fabric of the city and its proud people. As the rest of the day is free for you to explore, why not go and experience it all in person. Barrio Santa Cruz, with its multicultural history, is a great place to start. This shaded warren was designed in medieval times to provide refuge from the great Andalusian heat. Or maybe spend your evening San Jacinto, the bustling main street of the Triana quarter, and discover the interesting and adventurous food on offer.

Your travel time today will be approximately 2.5 hours.

Please note that currently there are track works on the train line between Granada and Seville. We will therefore travel by both train and bus on this stretch of our journey.

Today is a free day to discover Seville. Checking out the world's largest Gothic cathedral is a must. You can also the climb the cathedral's adjoining Moorish tower, known as La Giralda. While you might have to line up, it's well worth it for the views over the city. Today board a bus and cross the border into Portugal. Travel through fertile plain landscapes of orange orchards, olive groves and maize fields to the Algarve, Portugal's stunning southern coast, where your destination is the seaside town of Lagos. Set on the banks of the Rio Bensafrim, Lagos is gifted with a temperate Mediterranean climate, a bounty of beaches and a rich heritage. When you arrive, you might want to take a walk around town. Wandering around Lagos’s old town enclosed within 16th century walls, on pretty cobbled streets and picturesque plazas and churches, is definitely a good thing to do. In the evening, why not head to feast on freshly caught fish at a restaurant or cafe overlooking the water and behold a golden sky at sunset, before throwing yourself into Lagos' pumping nightlife.

Most of today is free to enjoy Lagos and its surrounds. At some point during the day (depending on availability) you will enjoy an included boat tour around Algarve’s rocky cliffs. Explore the jagged, weathered rockface of Pinta da Piedade, full of arches, towers, grottoes and caves that have been eroded into this fabulous limestone coast. Your leader will inform you about the exact time in advance so you can plan other activities around that. For the rest of the day, perhaps pack a book and towel and head to the beach. The vast sands of Meia Praia stretch for over 4 km, and it is peppered with beach bars, cafes and sun lounges. Also, plenty of water sports are on offer in the summer. In addition, there are numerous boat trip options, focusing on birdwatching, fishing, or even spotting the Algarve dolphins. Praia do Porto de Mos and Camilo Beach are also good options, lovely water and sands surrounded by great rock formations. Take a stroll through the quaint alleys of central Lagos, or head down to the waterfront to watch the boats come in. Just ask your leader for any tips if you’re unsure.

  • Lagos - Algarve Cliff Boat Trip

Today head north by public bus to Lisbon. As one of Europe's most pleasant and affordable capital cities, Lisbon combines the best elements of Portuguese life, offering fantastic architecture, a multicultural population, delicious seafood and non-stop nightlife. When you arrive, head out on an orientation walk of Lisbon to find your feet. There are some great modern and ancient art museums to check out, such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, the National Museum of Contemporary Art or the National Coach Museum. Your afternoon and evening is then free, so maybe head to the grand Naval Museum for an insight into the history of Portuguese navigation. You can roam through the charming narrow streets of local neighbourhoods and see local life play out. Maybe simply sit back in one of many outdoors restaurants and cafes – watching the life go by is definitely one of the best ways to relax in Lisbon. As the sun goes down, some of Lisbon's best nightlife centres on the neighbourhood of Bairro Alto, where you can enjoy an emotional fado performance (traditional Portuguese music).

  • Lisbon - Fado Show with Dinner - EUR50

Your travel time today will b approximately 4 hours.

Today is a free day to further discover Lisbon, which is located on the banks of the Tagus (Tejo) River and is truly one of Europe’s great cities. Much of Lisbon’s character and charm lies in its beautiful renovated buildings, grand boulevards and impressive castles and churches. Maybe head out this morning on a tour to visit to the medieval citadel in the city centre of Lisbon. Discover the medieval citadel of Sao Jorge Castle, which dates back to Moorish times and sits on the highest point of the Old Town. Look down on a city swarming with endless angular white houses and buildings with distinct red terracotta rooftops. From the citadel, this makes a contrasting panorama when viewed against the deep blue of the sky and ocean. With the rest of your free time today, perhaps catch a tram or hire a bike and cycle along the water to the historic neighbourhood of Belem. Make sure you try a sumptuous custard tart at the famous Casa Pasteis de Belem. Relax at a cafe in hilly Alfama, or check out the fascinating street art spread throughout the city.

Continue north on a local bus to Porto, the capital of the north that sits between a river and the Atlantic Ocean. Stretching along the banks of the River Douro, Porto is one of Portugal's most romantic cities. Known for majestic bridges, medieval riverside district with its cobbled streets, merchants’ houses and cafes, Porto is also well known for one more thing – as the birthplace of the fortified wine, port. Indulge in an included group tasting of some famous tawny and ruby ports at one of the many wine houses across the river. Most of the grapes are grown and harvested in the nearby Douro Valley. If sampling the best from the region piques curiosity, why not learn more about the history of wine and port making at the Museu do Vinho later on in the afternoon. Alternatively, spend the evening soaking up the atmosphere of this coastal city in numerous cafes and restaurants that Porto has to offer.

  • Porto - Port Wine Tasting

Your travel time today will be approximately 4 hours.

Today is a free day to explore Porto. The city's World Heritage-listed Ribeira district is packed with twisting alleys, staircases, and baroque churches, and is great to explore on foot. Sao Francisco church is known for its lavish interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th-century Palácio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors. For a sensational view of the whole town head to the Torre dos Clerigos (Clerigos Tower). Head down Allies Avenue to see the French-inspired buildings, then make a turn for Bolhão Market. This is the city’s most famed market, bursting with fresh produce and other goodies. Up in the cathedral area you’ll find the oldest neighbourhood in Porto and a place where you’ll see its true soul. Boat cruises along the Rio Douro operate several times a day, offering insight into the history of Porto's six famous bridges. A cruise is also a great chance to snap some great photos of the colourful tiled houses lined up along the riverbank. For dinner, make sure you try the country’s most famous sandwich – the francesinha – then head to Galerias Paris Street for nightlife.

  • Porto - Livraria Lello - EUR8
  • Porto - Clerigos Tower - EUR8

Today board a bus bound for Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. The capital of Galicia became a symbol of the Spanish Christians' struggle against Islam and is famous as the culmination point for pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago. Soak up the religious energy in the cathedral where St James, one of the 12 Apostles, is purportedly buried. The cathedral was consecrated in 1211 and is the central point within the medieval walls of the old town, standing majestically on the Plaza del Obradoiro with its towers soaring above the town. Elaborately carved stone facades open onto grand plazas, full of pilgrims and locals spending their day in this atmospheric place. Maybe join them in one of the cafes, sitting back and listening to many of the street artists performing on the streets of the old town. Visit the cathedral and do as pilgrims do – circle the main altar admiring the greatness of the place. Tonight, maybe and explore the streets close to the cathedral for Galician specialties. Perhaps try peppers of Padron and empanadas (Galician pies, filled with meat or seafood).

Today you'll have the opportunity to join pilgrims on the last stretch of the Santiago de Compostela route. Take an early bus to Amenal village where the 18 km walk begins. The trek will take you through the villages, fields and rivers of Galicia. In Lavacolla village you'll cross the river where medieval pilgrims traditionally bathed in the river to purify themselves before arriving in the holy city. From here, ascend again to the Monte do Gozo (Mount of Joy), so called for the feeling when pilgrims would catch their first sight of the towers of Compostela Cathedral. Embrace the atmosphere up here on the mount, alongside some walkers who may have trekked over 800 km to be here. The entire walk takes approximately 4 to 6 hours to complete. It is important that you wear comfortable footwear and bring a rain coat, as weather in this region of Spain can be unpredictable, even during the summer months. Once back in Santiago the rest of the day is free for you to explore. Santiago de Compostela is a World Heritage site, an open-air museum that holds many delights within its walls – the lively squares, the market and the University buildings are must sees. For you final night in town, maybe wander down the streets of Rua do Franco and Rua da Raina to try some tapas.

  • Santiago de Compostela - Visit to a Local Cheesemaker - EUR20
  • Santiago de Compostela - Bike Hire - EUR10

Today, you'll take a train back to Madrid. When you arrive, check into your hotel and then head out on an orientation walk with your leader to get your bearings. Then, the rest of the day is free for your to explore how you wish. Maybe hang out in El Retiro Park or explore Prado Museum’s works by Goya, Velazquez and other Spanish masters. Escorted Tours in Spain

Spain has a wealth of attractions just waiting to be explored. On an escorted tour of Spain with Jules Verne, you’ll experience the flavour of Andalucía, the vibrancy of Catalonia, the style of Madrid and the majesty of the Sierras, which are all underpinned by historical intrigue and cultural diversity. Cruises in Spain are also gaining popularity, which is why we are proud to offer  Andalucía from the Water  among our collection of tours.

Spain is famous for its golden miles of coastline. However, it’s only when you explore its many other gems, from its sophisticated cities and traditional villages to its awesome peaks and fertile plains, that you can truly understand and appreciate the unique character and passion of this country. On a small group tour of Spain, you’ll have the chance to really get to know this breathtaking destination.

The most southern region of  Andalucía  is quintessentially Spanish, with its fiery flamenco and traditional bullfighting. Towns to tour include historic Seville and the incredible Granada, which is home to one of the most brilliant jewels of universal architecture, the 14th-century Alhambra. You can discover Seville and Moorish Spain while leisurely cruising on one of our  Spain cruise tours .

If you want to immerse yourself in culture on an escorted tour to Spain, look no further than Catalonia in the east. This prosperous region boasts the bright, cosmopolitan city of Barcelona. There, you will find the UNESCO-protected works of Antoni Gaudí, as well as an enviable array of distinctive architecture, art, fascinating museums, a well-preserved Gothic quarter, and charming and unusual parks.

No visit to Spain is complete without a tour of the capital itself. Chic Madrid’s architectural legacies include the Royal Palace and one of the world’s largest art galleries, featuring works from Goya, Velazquez, El Greco, Murillo, Rubens and Rembrandt. Just north of the capital, you’ll find Segovia and its enchanting fairy tale-like Alcázar, which inspired Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle.

Join us for one of our classical Spain tours today and discover the magic for yourself.

Where your classical Spain tour will take you

This southern Spain small group tour will then take you to Granada, where you will spend three days exploring the likes of the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens and sampling exquisite tapas dishes. The trip will finish just like it started, in the beautiful city of Málaga.

If you would prefer to cruise along in comfort on your escorted holiday to Spain, you can opt for our  Andalucía from the Water  tour. On this trip, you can expect to experience the delights of Seville and Moorish Spain, including Córdoba and the Alhambra. We had a very exciting trip on PSP1014 this year. The tourist guide Ms. Caro Hsu was excellent. She provided much information with the history and story for each place where we were. The day-to-day arrangement was organized very well. The hotel was nice and the bus was also comfortable. It was the second time of our vacation to choose Peony Tours. Peony Tours is still giving us a good impression.

So lucky to have Caro Hsu as our tour manager. She was amazing. Took us tour Madrid the very first day, got to visit Prado, Market Miguel, Plaza Major, Puerta de Sol, even watched the first bullfight of the season. The company has cancelled the visit to Quell Park in Barcelona, she bought tickets individually for the whole tour group, we were so happy to be able to visit that Quell Park. Thought out the tour, we learned so much about the history, the people, the places where we visited. She worked and walked tirelessly with us. She is the best tour manager I have ever had.We could not reserve seats on Iberia Airline which was the major street. Some hotels wifi were not functional. But overall, i enjoyed the trip very much.

By Chengsein Yu

I had a good trip with this group people and our tour manager!Serve a good arrangement for those people chosen not following the option you provided.

We took Spain and Portugal in mid-Sep-2016. Juliette the tour guide was very pleasant and accommodating. We were able to get additional discounts maybe due to off season. The price was reasonable, the tour planning was worth while. I will highly recommend Peony tour to anyone who likes to see most with very little budget. This tour was worth every penny, very professional people. If we get similar type of discounted fair we will join again in 2017 most likely for Eastern Europe.

By Vanessa chor wan Ahmed

By Iqbal Ahmed

Our guide, James Wang, is excellent throughout the trip. Very knowledgeable and I highly recommend. Optional tours were also very good. I would like to have more free time when tour the Sintra National Palace. We had a very good experience overall.

By Mingfong Hwang

Caro was very friendly, helpful, responsible and likeable. An excellent tour guide by all standards. She is also very knowledgeable and a good interpreter. Getting to watch the bull fight in Madrid was excellent. I think the Pablo Picasso museum in Barcelona was not particularly interesting to most members of my tour because it is really interesting for art fans only, and should be replaced with going inside the Sacrada Familiar or another activity.

By steven mai

It was extremely delightful to have Caro as the tour manager/guide. My wife and I were especially impressed with her diverse knowledge about places visited. She was very professional and always had tour group members' interest in mind, and did her best to satisfy everyone. I hope to have her again when we sign up for other Peony tours in the future.

By Chuen Hsiung Hsu

Thank you to Caro for providing more optional tours and convincing most of families to join these new optional tours. She has done good jobs during entire trip. Both my wife and I really enjoyed it.

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry Share Lead Through 36 Holes at Zurich Classic

McIlroy is playing this event for the first time, and the two-man team from Ireland is in a great spot at the event's halfway point.

  • Author: Jeff Ritter

Rory McIlroy might make his first trip to the Zurich Classic a memorable one.

He's playing with his buddy and fellow Irishman Shane Lowry this week in the PGA Tour's annual two-man team event, and the duo shot a 2-under 70 in Friday's alternate shot, good enough to move to 13 under for the event and into a four-way tie for the lead at the halfway point. Lowy-McIlroy made two bogeys and four birdies, including a birdie 4 on two of TPC Louisiana's par 5s.

"Shane has got a wonderful short game, and it gives me confidence going for those greens whether it be the par-4s or the par-5s that if I get it anywhere up there around the green, I'm going to have a very good look for birdie after he hits his," McIlroy said.

The Irishmen turned a solid round into a very good one with birdies on 7 and 8, their 16th and 17th holes of the day. After McIlroy's big drive on the par-4 8th found a greenside bunker, Lowry hit a nice blast out of the sand to set up an up-down-birdie.

Three teams share the lead with McIlroy and Lowry: Aaron Rai-David Lipsky, Andrew Novak-Davis Thompson and Ryan Brehm-Mark Hubbard.

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, who won this event in 2022, are part of a six-team pack one shot behind the leaders. Defending champs Nick Hardy and Davis Riley made the cut on the number and trail by five.

But for now the focus remains on McIlroy and Lowry. When asked if the friends might venture out to have some fun in New Orleans at some point this week, Lowry, who is playing this event for the fourth time, quickly shot it down.

"No, no, no. We're here to play a golf tournament. We'll enjoy ourselves. We'll go for a nice dinner tonight," Lowry said.

"I'll do the same thing I do when I have an afternoon off. I'll go back to the hotel, freshen up, and go for a little stroll around the city and have a look at—just look around. That's what I do."

'We do what we always do’: Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay make inevitable move at Zurich Classic

Change Text Size

If it’s the Zurich Classic of New Orleans then, eventually, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are going to be part of the conversation.

The duo seems to always make an inevitable move at TPC Louisiana, and this year it happened on Friday.

Schauffele and Cantlay, the lone pair in the field both ranked inside the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking entering the week, fired a 5-under 67 in the second round – the low round of the day in Foursomes.

The duo was 6-under on their round through 17 holes before finishing with a bogey on their final hole of the day. They are just one shot back of the lead held by a quartet of squads including Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.

Cantlay, Schauffele save bogey after water ball at Zurich Classic

“We did exactly what we needed to put ourselves in position,” said Cantlay. “We’re at halftime now, one back, and I like our spot heading into the weekend.”

The pair, who won this event in 2022 and have been a staple of Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup teams over the last few years, have been a force at the Zurich Classic. They finished tied for fourth in their debut as a pair before winning in 2022. Last year they finished tied for 11th.

Cantlay and Schauffele co-hold the Foursomes scoring record at this event (63 last year) and the Four-Ball record (59 in 2022).

Whatever they’re doing just keeps working.

Cantlay, Schauffele get up-and-down for birdie at Zurich Classic

“We prepare individually, in terms of the way we play,” Schauffele said. “We do some team reads and things like that on the putting green, but for the most part, most of the time we know exactly where we need to leave ourselves even if we’re out of position so that always helps.”

Both Schauffele and Cantlay are looking for their first TOUR title since 2022. Schauffele won three times that year, while Cantlay won twice.

It’s been an incredibly steady 2024 campaign for Schauffele so far with seven top-10s in 10 starts, including a tie for second at THE PLAYERS. Cantlay hasn’t had the same run of results as his partner so far in 2024, but he comes to TPC Louisiana after a tie for third at the RBC Heritage last week.

The leaderboard is as bunched as ever heading into the weekend, with four duos tied for the lead at 13-under and Cantlay and Schauffele part of a six-way tie for fifth just a shot back.

Patrick Cantlay’s tight approach leads to birdie at Zurich Classic

The teams will once again play Four-ball for Saturday’s third round, and it should come as no surprise that Cantlay and Schauffele are eager for a solid moving day given how they’ve played through 36 holes at the Zurich Classic.

“We do what we always do,” Schauffele said.

George Bryan, Bryan Bros Golf, Myrtle Beach Classic

George Bryan IV is part of the Bryan Bros Golf YouTube Golf channel. He and his brother Wesley Bryan create various golf content to entertain fans.

On Tuesday, Play Golf Myrtle Beach published its “Q at Myrtle Beach” qualifier on YouTube.

George was one of the eight YouTubers who participated in the 16-player, 18-hole shootout for one spot in this year's inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic .

He and pro golfer Matt Akins tied at 3-under after 18, but Akins beat him in a playoff.

After the main video, the eight content creators began posting their videos from the qualifier.

Yet on Thursday, Twitter user Patrick Lowry congratulated Bryan for earning a spot at the Myrtle Beach Classic. The tweet included a YouTube link to the Bryan Bros video from the qualifier .

George Bryan earns a spot at the Myrtle Beach Classic. well deserved, couldn't be happier for him. @wesleybryangolf @bryanbrosgolf #golf #pgatour https://t.co/eDDl1qETdu pic.twitter.com/HspcbdGYQl — Patrick Lowry (@thepatricklowry) April 26, 2024

The video showcased his journey through the qualifier. Around the 16:44 mark, Bryan explains he has a phone call with the Myrtle Beach Classic’s tournament director, Darren Nelson.

“Hey, I wanted to see what you’re doing May 6-12. We’d like to offer you a spot in the Myrtle Beach Classic,” Nelson said.

With the biggest grin, Bryan gives the camera a fist pump and looks beyond excited.

“Yes, I’m there,” he said. “Holy cow! Not going to lie when you said it was a call, I had my hopes, but I didn’t want my mind to go there and think that I would actually have a chance to play in a PGA Tour event. Honestly, I don’t even know what to think right now. Like I’m still like — holy cow.”

Nelson acknowledged he came close in the qualifier and how the Myrtle Beach Classic team wanted to offer him the spot.

Bryan gave another fist pump, and the excitement radiated from him.

It will be his first PGA Tour event in his home state of South Carolina. George and Wesley both played in the Butterfield Burmuda Championship last fall. However, it is clear playing in the Palmetto State in front of a home crowd is special.
