Australia cricket schedule in 2024: Full list of Tests, ODI and T20I fixtures in 2024

Australia 2024 schedule

Australia have a packed schedule in 2024, including several bilateral series and three ICC trophies.

Australia Women cricket schedule in 2024

Australia Women are currently in India for a multi-format tour that started in December 2023. They have played a Test match, and will play two ODIs by the time 2023 ends, but the third ODI and the three T20Is will be played in January 2024.

Back home, they will host South Africa for another multi-format tour, consisting of a Test match, three ODIs, and three T20Is, from February. In March, they will  tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is. They will return to Bangladesh  in October to defend their Women’s T20 World Cup title.

In November, they will then host  India  and  New Zealand  for three ODIs each.

Australia Men cricket schedule in 2024

Australia Men  will start 2024 with the final Test of their three-match home series against Pakistan . After that, they will host the  West Indies for two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. Then, in March, they will travel to  New Zealand for two Test matches and three T20Is.

Australia then tour the West Indies and the  USA for the Men’s T20 World Cup in June. In August, they play three ‘away’ T20Is against Afghanistan  – a team they refused to play in a bilateral series in 2023 – presumably in the UAE.

In September, Australia Men tour the British Isles, to play three ODIs and a T20I in Ireland , and five ODIs and three T20Is in England . Back home, they host Pakistan  again, for three ODIs and three T20Is from November.

Australia Men end their year with a five-match Test series – the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India – that will spill over into 2025. These, and all other Test matches they play in 2024, will be part of the 2023-25 World Test Championship .

Australia Under-19s cricket schedule in 2024

The Australia Under-19s will travel to  South Africa  for the  Under-19 World Cup in January 2024.

Cricket Australia reaffirms desire to host India-Pakistan bilateral series

CA would offer Australian venues if the BCCI and PCB show any desire to restart bilateral relations

Five-Test India series, Ashes crown epic summer

26HealyCummins

Six Tests, nine ODIs, nine T20Is to be played by Australia's men's and women's teams at 12 venues between September and February

CA_Schedule Announcement_60_Landscape

The MCG will stage a historic day-night Test to close out the Women's Ashes and Perth will host the opening clash of the five-Test Border-Gavaskar series, as Cricket Australia confirmed details of the 2024-25 international schedule.

Australia's all-conquering women's side will open the season against New Zealand in September, then also host India in December, while Australia's men will also play limited-overs fixtures against Pakistan in November, clearing the way for the multi-format stars to play key roles in the KFC BBL in January.

Pat Cummins will lead Australia's bid to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from India for the first time in a decade when the hotly-anticipated series begins on November 22 at Perth Stadium, a venue where Virat Kohli's side was soundly beaten on their only previous visit in 2018.

That match was Australia's only victory in that series, and Perth has been India's least favoured destination Down Under, losing four of their five Tests there in the 77-year history between the two nations.

The West Test series opener will be followed by a day-night Test in Adelaide starting December 6, meaning the series will open with back-to-back Tests in prime time for east coast viewers in the first summer of the new TV rights contract that Seven and Foxtel signed with CA last year that will see matches also streamed on the 7Plus digital service.

The Gabba, once the 'traditional' opening venue of the Test summer, will host the third Test from December 14, before the iconic Boxing Day and New Year's slots for Melbourne and Sydney.

It means India faces their three least-favoured venues to open the series, although the tourists will believe the Gabba holds no demons for them following their historic series-clinching victory there in 2021.

India celebrate a win for the ages at the Gabba

Indeed, Australia have not beat India in a home series since 2014-15, losing at home in 2018-19 while Steve Smith and David Warner were serving bans, and again in 2020-21 when the four-Test series skipped Perth.

Australia have not won a Test series in India since 2004.

"This is one of the most highly anticipated summers of cricket in memory, with the eyes of the cricket world focused on the extended Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series and the multi-format Women’s Ashes," Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said.

"Fittingly, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been put on the same footing as the (men's) Ashes with a five-Test Series for the first time since 1991-92 and we're confident the schedule will maximise viewership and attendances and there will be a tremendous atmosphere in stadiums across the country."

INTL_2425Schedule_1920x1080

Preceding that series, Australia will face India's arch-rivals Pakistan for three matches in each of the white-ball formats, including the first ODI at Perth Stadium for six years.

Perth will be the third ODI of the series after matches in Melbourne and Adelaide between November 4 and 10, with the following T20 series running from November 14-18 with games at the Gabba, SCG and Hobart's Blundstone Arena.

The move to open the men's international summer with one-day cricket is part of a concerted push under the current Future Tours Program to make Australia's multi-format players available for the BBL.

The international season again starts in September with Australia's women's team hosting New Zealand for a trio of T20 matches in Queensland that will serve as important preparation for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup that begins later that month in Bangladesh.

India's women will join their male counterparts in the country with a tour that runs in parallel with the men's second Test, with two ODIs in Brisbane and a third in Perth between December 5 and 11.

But the main course of the women's season is the multi-format Ashes series that will see several matches played at major stadiums, culminating in a day-night women's Test at the MCG.

26vlaeminick-garth-mcg-16x9

The women's Ashes will commence after the Border-Gavaskar series has finished, with the first ODI on January 12, and the white-ball leg of the series will finish with a January 25 clash at the Adelaide Oval, marking a return to the ground's tradition of hosting cricket on the public holiday weekend.

The Test match at the MCG will be played over four days from January 30 and will be the first women's Test to be played at the iconic ground since 1949. England officials last year opted to make the women's Ashes Test a five-day affair to open the multi-format series, with Ashleigh Gardner's eight-wicket haul spinning the Aussies to victory on the final day.

It will be the second women's Ashes Test to be played with the pink ball under lights following the 2017 Test at North Sydney Oval where Ellyse Perry famously posted a double century in a drawn encounter.

New Zealand 2024 | Information

Australian Cricket Tourists On The Field At The Basin Reserve During The Australian Cricket Tour To New Zealand | Wellington | New Zealand

Kia Ora to Aotearoa!

'KiwiVille' is our third favourite nation to tour; a place we would love to tour every two years. Of course what specatators want is usually the polar opposite to administrators', but let's digress.

Here a few helpful points, primarily oriented to those that have never visited NZ or travelled with us, or haven't yet arrived in NZ.

We appreciate you may be 'in country' or be an experienced traveller to NZ, but the information that follows includes ground entry conditions, where we are refreshing the night before each test, and after play each day.

It is important to remind you that unlike every other nation we visit, New Zealand 2024 is not a tour by our usual practice.

NZ is the quintessential 'do it yourself' destination, hence all we provide is match tickets, and nothing else.

Your time in NZ is your time.

On arrival into NZ I will buy a local SIM card for data use only, giving access to email and Whatsapp messaging.

My Australian SIM card WILL NOT be in my phone.

If you call my Australian mobile, this will go straight to voicemail. Any voicemail will not be heard, and any text message will only be received once back in Australia.

If you need to call or message: Whatsapp!

If you choose not to have data or Whatsapp or both on your phone (if you have a phone), you will need to borrow someone else's to contact me.

New Zealand was the first nation I toured where I never needed local currency. From the year 2000 it was card payment everywhere, even for a paper to read of Australia's cricket glory the day before.

In short, you don't need to change money. ATM's are about, though not plentiful.

Each to their own, but do know that both venues are cashless !

Arriving in Wellington

If not roaming with your OZ mobile, before you leave the airport grab a SIM card from One .

There may be other networks such as Vodafone, 2Degrees, or Spark, but One is the only network 'promoted' on the Wellington Airport website.

From the airport take a taxi, Uber, SuperShuttle (door-to-door), or Airport Express public bus that runs 35mins to Wellington Railway Station.

Depending on where your hotel is;

  • Airport Express is NZ$10pp (debit/credit tap & go)
  • Super Shuttle is NZ$18 for one and NZ$6 for each additional passenger, on the same booking.
  • Uber to Basin Reserve is NZ$20

Some useful websites:

  • Wellington Airport Bus
  • SuperShuttle (pre-book)

Cricket in Wellington

If you are enjoying the Test Match with a general admission ticket, we strongly recommend bringing or buying a collapsible camp chair.

We have bought ours from Bunnings Wellington Central  for collection on arrival.

Disappointingly, there are size restrictions for chairs, detailed in the Basin Reserve Entry Conditions , due to 'capacity limitations within the venue' .

We contacted NZC about the restrictions citing two people on a blanket use more space than two people on chairs that stand higher than the current 30cm limit. We have yet to receive a reply.

My chair sits 40cm from the ground and I am taking this.

Each to their own.

There are limited seats around the boundary and on the red brick steps beneath Wakefield Memorial, on the left of the picture below. Bring a pillow or blanket and get in early to claim a spot.

To answer people's question, if your ticket is general admission, you sit where you prefer, but late arrival won't leave you with great choice.

We are not meeting anywhere or reserving places for others. We get in when the gates open to claim our favourite spot on the grassy knoll in the image below.

The sun sets to the right, as you look at the image.

Where Australian Cricket Tours Lounge When Visiting The Basin Reserve | Wellington | New Zealand | Australian Cricket Tours

On Wednesday Feb 28, please join us at Cambridge Hotel , just 500m from the Basin Reserve.

I will be there from 6pm.

We have been imbibing at the Cambridge since our first New Zealand tour in 2000, and indeed look forward to returning.

Unlike other tours where we select a different nightly destination, NZ24 is vastly different as we have more than 300 in Wellington.

Straight after play we will go to the Cambridge each day where Isaac and his team will look after us. It would be great for you to slide on in on your way home.

Arriving in Christchurch

If flying in for Christchurch only, and not roaming with your OZ mobile, before you leave the airport grab a local SIM card from Spark .

There may be other networks such as Vodafone, 2Degrees, or One, but Spark is the only network 'promoted' on the Christchurch Airport website.

From the airport take a taxi, Uber, SuperShuttle (door-to-door), or public bus that runs via Riccarton to Christchurch Bus Interchange on Lichfield Street.

  • Public Bus #3 is NZ$4 bought from driver
  • Super Shuttle is NZ$25 for one and NZ$5 for each additional passenger, on the same booking
  • Uber to Hagley Oval is NZ$28
  • Uber to central Christchurch NZ$33

Some useful links:

  • Christchurch Airport
  • Christchurch Airport Bus

Cricket in Christchurch

Excluding hospitality, every ticket is general admission and we strongly recommend bringing or buying a collapsible camp chair.

We are bringing ours from Wellington, but you can buy yours from Bunnings Riccarton  or any other outdoor store for collection on arrival into Christchurch.

Unlike Basin Reserve there are no size restrictions as per the Hagley Oval Entry Conditions .

Conversely, you can take your thermos into Wellington, but not Christchurch. Same two teams, two different entry conditions. #Madness

As your ticket is general admission, you sit where you prefer. We are not meeting anywhere or reserving places for others. We get in when Gate A opens to set up at the top of the grassy knoll in the images below.

The sun sets to the left of the animated image.

Australian Cricket Tours in Hagley Oval 2016 | Christchurch | New Zealand | Australian Cricket Tours

On Thursday March 7, please join us at Casa Publica , on the cool New Regent St.

As per Wellington, we won't have a different nightly destination even though only 200 of us will be Christchurch.

Straight after play each day we will go to  Pegasus Arms , our go to after Australia's first ever test at Hagley Oval in 2016.

This is the closest pub to the ground, when walking back into the city.

If you bought our very cool New Zealand 2024 Tour Shirts, you can collect these before the test match at the pub, otherwise come and find me at the game in the locations detailed above.

On the subject of clothes, bring your woolies as it can get bitterly, biblically cold even in this tail end of summer.

How Australia is involved in preparations for 2024 T20 World Cup despite not hosting event

Nearly two years since it successfully hosted the 2022 T20 World Cup, Australia will be involved in the preparations for the 2024 edition of ICC’s showpiece event in the shortest format that is set to take place in June, albeit indirectly.

No, Australia are not hosting back-to-back T20 World Cups, the honour of which will be going to West Indies and USA who will be co-hosting the event in the month of June. While the tournament returns to the Caribbean for the first time in 13 years, the United States is gearing up the first major cricketing event in its backyard.

Cricketing powerhouse Australia, meanwhile, are indirectly involved in the preparations for the T20 World Cup that begins days after the conclusion of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to BBC , drop-in pitches have been carried to New York City all the way from Adelaide, South Australia. The Australian pitches will be used at Eisenhower Park, where a makeshift stadium (Nassau County International Stadium) is being constructed which then will host some of the biggest fixtures of the event including the marquee India vs Pakistan contest.

The pitches were transported over a distance of 14,000 km by ship, arriving in Florida from where it was taken to the ‘Big Apple’, where it took 12 hours to plant the pitch at the venues.

Additionally, Adelaide Oval curator Damian Hough is in the United States to oversee preparations at the Eisenhower Park, where India play three of their four group matches.

“Our aim is to produce pitches that have pace and consistent bounce, on which the players can play their shots. We want entertaining cricket, but there are challenges.

“I’m really excited, but I’m a bit anxious at the same time - there are still unknowns. This is a long process. What we do know is we’ve given it our best shot. We’ve thoroughly thought through every possible outcome and issue along the way and we’re hoping that they’re going to be some good cricket pitches,” Hough told BBC.

Dallas and Miami are the other American host cities for the upcoming T20 World Cup besides NYC, with the former playing host to the tournament opener between USA and Canada on 1 June.

While the US hosts 16 games, 39 matches will take place in the Caribbean including the semi-finals and the final.

Struggling david warner a concern for australia ahead of cricket t20 world cup.

David Warner is in the midst of a prolonged retirement tour for international cricket. He finished his 50-over career in dream-like fashion with a stunning World Cup triumph when Australia stunned host India last November.

He then embarked on a lengthy Test farewell in the Australian summer, which felt slightly heavy-handed with Warner being a polarizing figure even amongst his compatriots.

Some have never forgiven Warner for his role in Australia's infamous cheating scandal of 2018, which resulted in a 12-month suspension and a life leadership ban - a punishment he has unsuccessfully attempted to overturn.

Despite teasing that he was available if needed for next year's Champions Trophy, Warner's last dance will be at the upcoming T20 World Cup in the U.S. and Caribbean.

But Warner has been out of form in the Indian Premier League - the biggest and most lucrative T20 competition in the world - and he was dropped from Delhi Capitals' line-up after scoring just 37 runs from his last four innings. There are reports in Australia that Warner is battling injury.

The 37-year-old was sidelined recently with a thumb injury, but his demotion - whatever the reason - is undoubtedly a worry with the T20 World Cup in the U.S. and Caribbean just over a month away.

Australia are set to announce their squad next month and Warner is guaranteed to be in it. But there are question marks over the makeup of Australia's opening combination. It had been assumed that Warner was guaranteed a spot with intrigue over who would partner with him.

Travis Head, who became something of a cult figure in Australia after his heroics in the World Cup final and revelry afterwards, has essentially cemented his spot as an opener through devastating big-hitting at the top of the order for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

And Australia's hierarchy might be intrigued by dynamic youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has enjoyed the bright lights of the IPL while it's batting-friendly pitches have been suited for the big-hitter coming off a breakout Australian domestic season.

With big-hitting in vogue - Australia's line-up is stacked with powerful batters relegating legendary longform batter Steve Smith to an onlooker - Fraser-McGurk might prove a compelling case for national selectors.

But unless something goes drastically wrong, like his injury woes deepen, then Warner will almost certainly be a starter for Australia's World Cup. Romanticism aside, this is not about the perfect ending. Australia's uncompromising chiefs have not let sentiment sway them in the past.

Warner's experience will come to the fore in the Caribbean, where Australia is entirely based. They won't be playing in the U.S. host cities of New York, Dallas and Lauderhill as Australia starts their campaign against Oman on June 6.

Given Australia rarely play against smaller cricket nations, they don't venture to the Caribbean very often. Warner is one of few Australian players with experience in the conditions having played in the Caribbean Premier League. While West Indian grounds are generally much smaller than in Australia, the surfaces can be slow and spin-friendly - similar to South Asia, terrain Australia have struggled at in the past.

Warner's underrated batting smarts - where he can pull back the aggressiveness depending on the situation - make him an invaluable batter in a team that probably won't include Smith.

Australia might just be the favorites for the T20 World Cup. They looked irrepressible at times against New Zealand and West Indies in preparation, but there will undoubtedly be nervous moments along the way in a short format that can be volatile.

Ironically, given his tempestuous behaviour at times, Warner looms as a steadying influence for a helter-skelter Australia batting line-up that can veer towards recklessness when things don't come off.

If he can be a stabilizing force, and shrug off his current woes, then David Warner's long-winded retirement tour will end in fairy-tale fashion.

  • Depeche Mode

Aussie Depeche Mode fans are an incredibly patient bunch. The last time the British synth-pop titans toured the country was in 1994, meaning nearly three decades have passed since they last paid us a visit. But good things come to those who wait, and it seems there is a glimmer of hope for those hoping to catch the band Down Under.

In March 2023, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan told an Italian blog that the band were eyeing “as-yet-unannounced dates in Asia and Australia” as part of a touring run that would lead into 2024. The band have toured the world in support of their latest album, ‘Memento Mori’ , and a trip to Australia to cap off the jaunt seems more likely than ever.
