Here’s Neck Deep’s setlist from their 2024 U.S. tour

Fresh from the release of their self-titled album, Neck Deep are already on the road in the States – and there’s plenty of new material in their packed setlist.

It’s been a massive start to the year for Neck Deep already, with the release of their brilliant fifth album and now a U.S. headline tour.

And the pop-punk heroes kicked off their Live In America 2024 run last night (January 25) in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Marathon Music Works venue, giving plenty of new material some airtime in the 19-song setlist.

Following sets by a cracking supporting cast of Higher Power , Bearings and Drain , Neck Deep launched into new album opener Dumbstruck Dumbf**k, before a live debut of Sort Yourself Out from the same record. There were plenty of older favourites in the mix – from Lime St. and Gold Steps to Losing Teeth (for the first time in a couple of years) and December (Again). Finally, they ended the set with a triple-whammy encore of STFU, Can’t Kick Up The Roots and In Bloom. Ooooft!

Neck Deep will be back in the UK for their biggest ever headline show on March 28, at London’s Alexandra Palace. And frontman Ben Barlow wants to sell the thing out (“That’s a real goal of mine – and I refuse to believe that we won’t!” he told us last week) so get your tickets now .

Neck Deep are a pop-punk band from Wrexham, Wales who formed in 2012. The band have one studio album to their name along with three E.P’s and have toured all over the world as both a headliner and a support act.

If word is to be believed, you’re looking at pop-punk’s new great white hopes. The genre, having been maligned and side-lined for the better part of a decade has seen something of a comeback in recent years thanks to the likes of The Wonder Years, Four Year Strong and A Day To Remember. With this four piece we have a home grown band who could surpass each and every one of them and even stand alongside the true legends of the genre, and at the time of writing, they’re barely three years old. Bands who make that kind of an impact so soon are rarely built to last, but these guys stand to go very far indeed.

The band began in 2012 as a bedroom project of guitarist Lloyd Roberts and vocalist Ben Barlow. In a way that flies straight in the face of traditional punk rock law, the first couple of songs that Roberts and Barlow put onto the internet was what got them noticed, not seventeen years of touring. The response to those tracks was so good that Barlow and Roberts set about writing a whole E.P, which they put online a few months later. The response to “Rain In July” was so positive that songs from that release are live favourites for the band even to this day, and soon after its release the duos burgeoning fanbase wanted some live shows.

Such is the health of the Welsh rock scene that Barlow and Roberts had poached the new members of Neck Deep out of several local hardcore bands in no time at all. Matt West joined them on guitar from Roberts’ main band (at the time) Spires, Fil Thorpe-Evans joined on bass from Post-hardcore group Climates and Dani Washington rounded out the group on the drums. The new band recorded and released a new E.P titled “A History Of Bad Decisions”, and started gigging around their native Wales, but it was way across the Atlantic Ocean that they were going to make their big break.

The group took the chance to play a series of shows in Florida, and the group had such a following over there that it caught the attention of alternative rock legends Homeless Records. By August 2013, the band had signed with them, making them label-mates with the likes of All Time Low, New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday. The band came out with their debut album “Wishful Thinking” in January 2014 and ever since then, their career has read like a wish list of every punk band ever. From gigs with Blink-182, a Kerrang award for best newcomer and stints on multiple Warped Tours. The incredible thing is that they’re still a very young band, and it’s academic that Neck Deep are going to be very special indeed. Join them for the ride and you will not regret it. Highly recommended.

Live reviews

This band really did solidify my dislike for that genre of music. I went with a friend (he loved the show btw) as I’ve never been to a concert before and wanted to experience what it was like.

I hated Brixton Academy, felt like a skanky night club in my hometown called Tap ‘n’ Tin. The floors and seats were sticky and too small and uncomfortable. Best to stand up if you want to see the band. The security were bossy and rude, but there’s always that one diamond in the rough that are nice a helpful (They probably have to be like that and on alert in case of fights or stabbings, or assassinate the band or attempt to blow up the whole venue up!)

If you love Blink 182, and that type of pop punk music sin, then you’d probably like this band maybe. But this band, for me, the songs all sounded the same, when singing they sounded too distorted so you couldn’t work out what they were saying, unless you were a die hard fan. I would not go and seek out out to watch this band again personally. But the real question is, was it worth £25? If you were with good company, and enjoyed the music, you may of had a good time. Next time I’d probably would go and get drunk if I had to endure the pain of another musicians I had to see I didn’t like, but we were there for an hour so... That’s all I have to say.

Neck Deep may be relatively young in terms of their career but they have already rid themselves of their baby teeth and are standing firmly on their own two feet. The Welsh pop-punks hit the stage with boundless enthusiasm and energy no matter what city they're in or how long they've been traveling in the time preceding the show.

The first time I saw Neck Deep they headlined The Haunt in Brighton and had just returned from a mega jaunt across the United States, a testament to how quickly they are rising in popularity, and even in their jet-lagged state they bounced around the stage like a band who had just woken up from hibernation and had large amounts of energy stored up.

They play fast, occasionally heavy, pop-punk which it is impossible to stand still to. When you check out Neck Deep, crowd surfers and stage divers are a given and be prepared to jump until your legs can't take it any more.

Neck Deep leave everything out on stage when they play and it is that passion and love for what they do that they showcase every night that has made them one of the fastest rising British bands in recent years.

They return to the UK in February 2015 and it one tour you will not want to miss. If you like rowdy pop-punk and having a good time then Neck Deep are the band for you.

Neck Deep as most of the fans in and around the Cleveland know that the show was cancelled at both locations, unlike songkick. The band decided that to help keep their fans happy and to treat them the way they would like to be treated, had a hang out with the band at the Grog Shop! It was an opportunity that I personally never had a chance to experience, to have. We were given the chance to buy merch, including a limited number of posters specifically made for this event. After waiting in line we were given the chance to talk,meet, take pictures and to get autographs from all of the band! The band was more than happy to do this for us, they truly felt bad for all we were going through. I was very happy that they respected me and made me feel welcome like family. Overall this event will be something I will never forget, thank you to the band!

I saw them for the first time. It was so amazing!! Live performance was also cool. I loved them more than before! To be surprise they played more than 1hour!

In Japan even if a band released new songs, it can play the same time as other bands,so I’m so surprised and super happy. And I bought the T-shirt written in Japanese:) I want to go back that time..! I hope they will come to Japan again. Anyway I had a great time that night. Thank you so much.

This was honestly the best concert I’ve ever been to. All four bands had so much energy and just had fun with the show. I’m pretty sure every single one of us lost our crap when Neck Deep finally walked out and started their set. We moshed, we sang till our lungs gave out, we cried when Ben started talking about Wish You Were Here, and we just had the night of our lives. Thanks for a great night @neckdeepuk.

Rock City security are absolutely horrendous, they have no idea what they're doing and caused the show to be cancelled 2 songs in to Neck Deep's set.

On the plus side the guys were sticking up for the fans so much, so it's not their fault at all and they're still amazing! Just wouldn't advise anyone to go to Rock City anymore. :(

Amazing show. The crowd was hyped, the band was crazy good live, Ben sounded just like on the recordings and the guitars, bass and drums were huge and sounded fantastic. Seaway was also put on an amazing show. Definitely go see this tour if you get the chance, you’re garunteed a great time.

The band was phenomenal!! They sound even better live than they do in studio. They provide a great introduction and everyone goes crazy when they come on. This is my second time seeing Neck Deep and both times the crowd was insane (and a little scary). I have no complaints.

Neck Deep was incredible!!!! Their stage presence is truly an experience and they did a great job of incorporating their new material (I was especially excited that they played their cover of Torn) as well as older material from Rain in July. The show was amazing.

AMAZING!!! CROWD WAS BUZZING, INCREDIBLE TO EXPERIENCE THE ATMOSPHERE AND EXCITEMENT!!! only thing was that they came on pretty late & because we had to get the train home we had to leave after half an hour of them being on, but the half an hour was amazing!! :)

Neck Deep announce ‘Dumbstruck Dumbfuck’ 2025 UK tour

The band also tells NME that their double sets at Reading & Leeds Festival 2024 this weekend will have "no repeat songs" from their catalogue

Neck Deep  have announced the ‘Dumbstruck Dumbfuck’ UK tour for 2025 – see dates below.

The pop-punk band, who are scheduled to play double sets at Reading & Leeds 2024 this weekend, revealed tour dates today (August 23) alongside the release of a music video for ‘Sort Yourself Out’ , taken from their self-titled album released this year.

The tour will see them perform alongside opening acts The Wonder Years and One Step Closer at venues in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, Bristol, and Swansea.

On these bands, frontman Ben Barlow says in a press statement: “Having The Wonder Years out is always fun, they’ve been a big inspiration to us over the years, with so many great songs they always put on an amazing show.”

Meanwhile, One Step Closer are “a band we’ve been following closely for a few years,” he continues, and “they’re deservedly growing a lot right now and it’s been cool to see the progression. I’m excited to see how they go down with our fans because we love them.” Tickets for the tour go on sale next Friday (August 30) at 10am here .

In an interview with NME at Reading Festival 2024, the band spoke about the surreal opportunity of having The Wonder Years on their 2025 tour. “We did our first proper UK tour opening for The Wonder Years, so it’s just a very strange, full circle moment where we’re like ‘Oh, we’re taking you out for a tour?’” rhythm guitarist Matt West says.

They also give a sneak preview to Reading & Leeds attendees about what to expect from their sets this weekend: “We’re coming up to the anniversary of [2015 album] ‘Life’s Not Out To Get You’ so it’s a good chance to play like a good amount of our catalogue. So there will be no repeat songs [this weekend],” says lead guitarist Sam Bowden.
