The UAE has changed the entry rule for 90-day tourist visa holders, allowing them to enter the country more than once.

The new entry rule for holders of the regular 90-day tourist visa was announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).

Previously, holders of the regular 90-day tourist visa were allowed to enter the UAE only once.

According to the ICP, the updated system will be enforced starting October 3, and will also include updates to other visas, including multiple entry visas.

Changing the entry rule for 90-day normal visit visa to allow the holder to enter more than once will be applied to all types of visas within the new updated system, according to the ICP.

The ICP pointed out, however, that some visas will only allow entry to the UAE once, which includes visit visa.

Multi-entry UAE visit visa

The authority also issues a multi-entry visit visa for the purpose of tourism, valid for a period of 5 years, without the requirement of a guarantor or host within the country. The applicant needs provide proof of a six-month bank balance of $4,000.

The ICP clarified that the multiple-entry tourist visa allows holder to stay in the country for a continuous period not exceeding 90 days, and can be extended for a similar period, provided that the entire stay period does not exceed 180 days in a year.

The updated entry visas provide new and multiple options for those wishing to visit the UAE with flexible and extendable periods of up to one year, without the requirement of a guarantor or host, according to the ICP. ICA/Expat Media

UAE visa rules: all you need to know about the 60-day visa for tourists

All visas can be renewed for a further 60 days.

The UAE is offering new types of visa, including options for long-stay tourists, jobseekers, accomplished professionals, star students and high-net-worth individuals. Wam

Salam Al Amir author image

The new UAE visa rules that came into effect on October 3 allow holidaymakers to stay for 60 days at a time.

The decision to make all entry visas valid for 60 days from the date of issue ― double the previous allowance ― is one of a series of visa changes that were approved by the Cabinet in April.

Previously, there was no specific visa for tourists and those wishing to visit the UAE applied for 30-day, 60-day or 90-day visit visas.

The one, two and three-month entry permits are still available on a new visa, but mainly for people wishing to visit friends or relatives in the country, which requires documentary evidence proving the relationship and reasons for the visit.

All entry visas are available for single or multiple entry and can be renewed for a further 60 days.

Roshan Davis, manager of Golden Talent Tourism Agency in Dubai, said the change has made it easier for tourists to spend extended time in the country exploring and enjoying everything it has to offer.

“We have received more than 50 tourist visa applications from customers in the past four days,” he said.

Who is the tourist visa for?

Those who do not qualify for a visa on arrival or visa-free entry to the UAE can apply for a tourist visa.

Citizens from 69 countries and states are eligible for a visa on arrival in the UAE . Females below the age of 18 are not eligible to apply for a tourist visa unless they are travelling with their parents.

How can I apply for a tourist visa?

Visitors from countries that do not have a visa-on-arrival arrangement with the UAE can apply for their visas in advance through a travel agency or through the airline with which they are travelling.

How much does the tourist visa cost?

Mr Davis said they charge between Dh550 and Dh600 for 60-day visas and between Dh350 and Dh750 for one, two and three-month visa requests for visiting relatives.

A 60-day single entry visa with Etihad Airways costs Dh650, while a similar visa from Emirates airline costs Dh697 ($190). Both airlines offer a shorter, 30-day visa priced at Dh350 for Etihad and Dh330 ($90) for Emirates.

Complete Guide to UAE Visa Extension Rules

Sam Ali

Table of Contents

In the UAE, visit visas serve as the gateway for tourists, business visitors, and those intending to visit family. Understanding the different types of visit visas is essential for ensuring compliance with local laws during your stay.

Maintaining a legal status under UAE immigration law is crucial. Ensuring compliance with visa regulations prevents legal complications, including fines or possible deportation.

Understanding the Basics of UAE Visit Visa

A standard UAE visit visa typically allows for a stay ranging from 30 to 90 days, intended for short-term visits for tourism, business, or family visits.

Categories of Individuals Eligible for Visit Visas

Visit visas in the UAE are available to various categories of visitors who wish to explore, conduct business, or reunite with family. Here is a list of those typically eligible:

  • Tourists: Individuals from countries without a visa waiver agreement with the UAE, seeking to explore the Emirates.
  • Business Visitors: Professionals attending meetings, conferences, or engaging in short-term business activities.
  • Family Visitors: Those visiting family members who reside in the UAE.
  • Cultural and Sports Participants: Individuals participating in cultural festivals or sports events.
  • Medical Tourists: Visitors coming to the UAE for medical treatments and consultations.

Legal Framework Governing Visit Visas in UAE

Uae visit visa extension rules.

The UAE visit visa extension rules in 2024 have been updated to allow visitors to extend their visit visas for an additional 30 days from within the country. This extension can be done twice for each period of 30 days, allowing visit visa holders to stay for a maximum of 120 days within a year.

However, to extend their visas , they still need to exit the UAE. The cost for each 30-day extension is AED 610. It’s important to plan ahead and follow the new rules to avoid any problems during your stay in the UAE.

Initial Steps to Take Before Visa Extension

Before applying for a UAE visa extension, take these essential steps:

  • Check Visa Validity: Confirm the expiration date of your current visa to ensure you’re eligible for an extension.
  • Prepare Necessary Documents: Gather all required documents, including your passport, current visa copy, and proof of financial means.
  • Consult Official Guidelines: Review the latest visa extension rules from the UAE government’s official website to ensure compliance.
  • Plan Financially: Estimate the total costs involved, including government fees and any additional charges, to budget appropriately.

Checking Visa Status and Expiry Dates

It’s important to regularly check your visa status and be aware of the expiry date to avoid any issues with overstay.

Dubai residents who want to host their friends or family in the country can now get a 3-month visit visa, according to residents and travel agencies. The host is required to pay a refundable deposit of Dh1,000 for this visa.

KV, who works as a PRO for a Dubai-based company, said that he has secured these visas for his company employees. “I have applied for this visa for family members of two of my colleagues in the last month,” he said. “I approached the AMER centre in Karama near the post office, and the process was easy. However, as per my experience, the family members must be immediate blood relatives like mother, father or siblings.”

According to him, the total cost of the service was Dh1,770. “The deposit was Dh1,000, and the visa with typing charges and service fee cost Dh770,” he said.

In October 2022, sweeping reforms were made to entry visas in the UAE as part of the Advanced Visa System. It introduced one of the largest residency and entry permit reforms in the UAE to date.

However, according to travel agencies in the country, they are unable to apply for these visas in their systems. “As of now, only individuals applying on the system can get these visas,” said Afi Ahmed from Smart Travels. “The individuals must apply for it online on the GDRFA website, on the app or through an Amer typing centre.”

On the GDRFA website, users can also apply for entry permits for business or job opportunities, entry permits for those awaiting their Green Visas, as well as a patient escort permit, among others.

Dubai resident Mohammed said he had applied for a visa for his mother to travel to the city. “Initially, I planned to apply for a 60-day visit visa through a travel agency,” he said. “But when I heard of the 90-day visa, I applied for it through an Amer centre. It was a very easy process.”

As part of the advanced visa services, an array of new entry permits was introduced. Some of them included a job exploration entry visa , one for business entry , a five-year multi-entry tourist visa , one to seek medical treatment, for temporary work , and for studies and training.

Last week, UAE's Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced the implementation of a new package of updates to improve the services provided to citizens, residents, and visitors through its smart services system.

The ICA has adopted a list of 15 services that were updated in its smart services system as of February 1, 2023.

UAE: Travelling to the US soon? Here's how to submit your US visa documents via Emirates Post

Living in uae.

Find out the Emirates Post drop-off and pick-up locations for your US Visit Visa

STOCK US VISA

Dubai: Planning a trip to the US? If you are applying for a visit visa from the UAE, you can submit your documents and pick up your passport once the visa is processed, through Emirates Post, which handles courier services for US visa applications from the UAE.

So, whether you are just starting your application or waiting to collect your visa, this guide will walk you through the steps you need to follow.

When do I need to use Emirates Post for document submission?

The method in which you submit your documents varies depending on the type of visa you are applying for: • If your visa requires an in-person interview at the Consular Section, bring all the necessary documents with you. • If no interview is needed , you will receive instructions on how to courier your documents to the Consular Section. That is when you will need to visit the Emirates Post Customer Happiness Centre. You will also need an ‘Courier-In Authorisation Certificate’, which allows an applicant to send documents using the courier, free of charge, to the Consular Section.

How to get the ‘Courier-In Authorisation Certificate’

You first need to apply for a ‘Courier-In Authorisation Certificate’ through the US visa portal - ais.usvisa-info.com. Here’s how: 1. Go to the sign-in option located on the top-right corner of the website, and login with your existing account for the US visa portal. 2. Select the option – ‘Consular Section instructed me to send more documents’. 3. Select applicants for whom you are intending to send documents or passports. Write reason to send documents or passport and click ‘Send Request’ 4. Then, click on ‘Continue’ and select ‘Send Documents’. 5. Select the Consular section where you are intending to submit documents or passports as mentioned in DS-160 form (the non-immigrant visa form) and click ‘Submit’. 6. Scroll down the page and click on ‘View Courier-in Receipt’.

Once this process is complete, take a printout of the authorisation. You will need to submit this along with the passports or the required documents by visiting one of the Emirates post drop-off and pick-up locations.

How do I collect my passport and US visa documents?

Depending on whether you are collecting your own passport, or someone else is collecting it on your behalf, there are certain IDs that need to be presented.

Applicants retrieving their personal documents must provide: • Official or State issued identification card (with photo). • Official driver’s licence (with photo). • Birth certificate.

Parents retrieving documents for their children must provide: • A copy of the child’s birth certificate or adoption decree, with at least one of the parent’s full legal name displayed on the document. • The parent must prove their identity by presenting the State issued ID card with a matching name on the child’s birth certificate or adoption decree.

If you have authorised a third-party to collect your passport, they need to present the following documents: • A letter of authorisation signed by you that contains the third party’s full legal name. • A photo copy of one of your IDs (State issued ID card). • The third party must also identify themselves with a State issued ID card. The name on the identification must match the name on the authorisation letter.

Any passports not retrieved within 30 days will be returned to the originating Consular Section.
