Amazing gig, amazing atmosphere. Smashed it finally got to see them after years of waiting. Not disappointed. Anyone who's never seen will be blown away. So good live. And they are playing again tonight well done to them and here's hoping tonight has just a good crowd.

The View The weather was glorious as The View strolled onto the stage. I’d been a big fan of The View since I saw them as relative newbies, supporting Babyshambles a number of years earlier. A perfect band for a beautiful August day I thought. The smell of suncream excited the nostrils, laughter filled the ears and cider was being drank and ‘soon to be spilled’ in ridiculous amounts. There was no doubt that the mood was jovial. They started of in full swing with ‘Same Jeans’, a catchy singable song and got the crowd were roaring with approval and singing along straight of the bat. There is something so ‘anthem’ like about their songs, instantly recognisable and ever so singable. Lead singer often bantered with the audience in his Dundee accent and clearly enjoying the show himself. They went through all their hits from they're cracking debut album ‘Hats Off To The Busker’ and also performed a brilliant cover of Squeeze’s ‘Up The Junction’ For me The View are a no nonsense, feel good, Indie rock band. If you want to dance to listen to some great pop/rock tunes, have a few drinks and feel happy. Seeing The View should certainly be penciled in on your calendar.

CNN values your feedback

Jack black’s band cancels tour after backlash to bandmate’s comment on trump assassination attempt.

TENACIOUS.jpg

Jack Black’s comedy rock band Tenacious D has canceled its remaining tour dates after band member Kyle Gass sparked a backlash with an apparent joke about Saturday’s assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.

Footage posted on social media from the band’s concert in Sydney on Sunday showed Black presenting Gass with a birthday cake onstage and telling him to “make a wish.”

Gass responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

The exchange prompted a call from one Australian lawmaker for the band to be deported from the country.

In a statement to CNN on Tuesday, Black said he was “blindsided by what was said at the show.”

“I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” he added. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Gass apologized for the comment in a post on Instagram on Tuesday.

“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone,” wrote Gass.

“What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”

Gass has since been dropped by his Hollywood talent representative. His agent, Michael Greene of Greene Talent, told CNN that he has parted ways with Gass, but he did not provide additional comment.

Band members Black and Gass had been due to play in the city of Newcastle, New South Wales, on Tuesday, but promoter Frontier Touring announced that the show had been “postponed” in an Instagram post earlier on Tuesday.

Tenacious D was scheduled to perform in Brisbane on Thursday, before heading to Melbourne and Adelaide, and then onto New Zealand and the US.

While some commenters interpreted the exchange as a joke, Australian senator Ralph Babet said that the pair “should be immediately removed from the country” in a statement posted on X.

“To advocate and or wish for the assassination of a President is egregious, disgusting, filthy, evil, and not acceptable in any way, shape or form,” said Babet. “This was not a joke, he was deadly serious when he wished for the death of the President.”

“I call on the prime minister Anthony Albanese to join me in denouncing Tenacious D, Jack Black and band member Kyle Gass, and I call on the immigration minister Andrew Giles to revoke their visas and deport them immediately,” Babet said on Tuesday.

Trump appears during the first night of the convention on Monday, July 15.

“Anything less than a deportation is an endorsement of the shooting and the attempted assassination of Donald J Trump,” he said.

Australian radio host Kyle Sandilands also criticized the band.

“I will not be participating in any future Tenacious D interviews,” he said. Tenacious D have previously appeared on the Kyle & Jackie O “In the Morning” show on KIIS radio.

On Saturday, US President Joe Biden condemned political violence in the wake of the shooting.

“There is no place in America for this kind of violence – it’s sick, it’s sick, it’s one of the reasons why we have to unite this country,” Biden told reporters.

“We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this.”

Tickets go on pre-sale this Wednesday 22nd February from 9am GMT and tickets go on general sale this Friday 24th February 24 at 9am GMT from Ticketmaster.

The View - Feels Like (Official Audio)

Speaking about the track, frontman Falconer said: "Even though under the surface it’s about somewhere everyone’s been in their life before: regret of losing someone amazing due to your inner demons and seeing them moving on with their life, when you’re stuck in a ‘nightmare not a dream,’".

He added: "When I first sat down to write it I had Holden Caulfield from [J. D. Salinger novel] Catcher in the Rye in mind. It’s playing out in his mind and it’s his own paranoia destroying him from the inside out when in reality she’s the perfect woman."

If you are considering a hop-on-hop-off bus ticket while in the city, keep in mind that all companies have a stop within walking distance of the studio.

TICKETS TO THE VIEW

Go to the 1Iota website , the hub to request free tickets for many TV shows in NYC.

Here you will find a calendar that tells you which dates are available or sold out. It will look like this:

screenshot of The View website

Once you decide on a date, just click on it, and you will then be asked to choose how many tickets you want.

Select the number of tickets and then click "Next". You will then be asked to register with 1Iota . The show is free to attend and there there is no cost to book tickets.

You will then be asked to enter your contact information and date of birth (all guests must be 18 years old or over). Once you have registered you can confirm your request for tickets.

You will be notified via email when your tickets are approved. Your ticket will be an e-ticket and you do not need to print it, you can simply show your phone when you arrive.

Like other TV show tapings, your ticket does not guarantee entry, so get there early!

Tip: Tickets are free, so avoid anyone who tries to sell you one.

If you do not receive tickets for your chosen date, you can always try the standby line on the day of the taping.

STANDBY TICKETS

If you don't get tickets or are feeling spontaneous, you can try for standby/same-day tickets.

At 8:30 am, standby numbers are handed out at the audience entrance at 57 West 66th Street (see directions above ).

To increase your chances of getting standby tickets, be sure to get there and join the line before 8:30 am.

After you receive a standby number, you can leave. Return to the same location at 10:20 am to find out if there are empty seats in the audience.

Standby number holders are admitted in order of the number they received until all seats are full. You are not guaranteed to get in, but it is worth a try.

New York Walking Tours

TIP: Since you'll have some waiting time between 8:30 am and 10:20 am, there are some interesting nearby attractions.

For example, you are within walking distance of the Dakota Apartments on 72nd Street where John Lennon lived and died, and Strawberry Fields , Lennon's memorial.

Check out our Central Park Guide which has tons of information about the many things to do and see in the park.

You are also just one block away from the world-famous Lincoln Center .

PLAN YOUR ATTENDANCE

The show begins taping at 11 am. Your e-ticket will include all the most up-to-date information regarding your check-in process including when to arrive.

Taping takes between 60-90 minutes. Occasionally, there are extra tapings filmed following the live show. These extra tapings may take an additional 30-60 minutes.

What Is the Dress Code for the View?

The View does have a dress code for live audience members.

Guests are encouraged to dress “upscale casual” and look trendy or fashionable. No tank tops, no large logos on hats or shirts, no t-shirts, no shorts, and no solid white or solid black tops.

We recommend you bring a sweater to keep warm as taping studios can sometimes be quite cold.

For a full list of the dress code, click here .

The View announce UK tour for autumn 2023

The View

After playing to 10,000 people over the course of four euphorically received nights in Glasgow last December , The View are now ready to show the rest of the UK what they’re missing. The band – consisting of founder members Kyle Falconer (vocals/guitar), Kieren Webster (bass/vocals) and Pete Reilly (guitar) – will play their first full-scale UK headline tour since 2017 this autumn, which includes a London show at the Scala .

Fans who pre-order the band’s upcoming ‘Exorcism of Youth’ album HERE will receive access to a ticket pre-sale which opens at 9am next Wednesday, May 3rd . It will remain live until tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday, May 5th . Tickets will be available from this page on Ticketmaster .

The View’s Kyle Falconer commented, “Touring has always been what we’ve done best, we just needed some time to refuel. Can’t wait to get back to it!”

The View 2023 UK tour poster

The View 2023 UK tour dates:

  • 2nd – Nottingham, Rescue Rooms
  • 3rd – Liverpool, O2 Academy 2
  • 4th – Manchester, Academy 2
  • 10th – Norwich, Waterfront
  • 15th – Cambridge, Junction
  • 16th – Bristol, Marble Factory
  • 18th – Brighton, Concorde 2
  • 22nd – Carlisle, Old Fire Station
  • 23rd – Cardiff, Tramshed
  • 24th – Leeds, Warehouse
  • 25th – Keele, University
  • 29th – Southampton, Engine Rooms
  • 30th – Birmingham, The Mill
  • 1st – Sheffield, Foundry
  • 2nd – Newcastle, University
  • 7th – London, Scala

Tickets will be available from this page on Ticketmaster .

In addition, The View have already confirmed select other live shows. Intimate headline gigs at Manchester’s Deaf Institute ( May 10th ) and London’s Oslo ( May 11th ) are long sold-out. The band also have numerous festivals on the schedule, calling at Neighbourhood Weekender ( May 27th ), Darwen Live ( May 27th/28th ), TRNSMT ( July 7th ), Greenwich Royal Naval College ( July 8th , special guests to Kaiser Chiefs ), The Mighty Boof ( August 18th/19th , headliners),  Victorious ( August 25th ) and Shiiine On ( November 19th ).

When The View reconvened after five years apart, the three old-friends realised just how much they have missed… well, everything about being in a band: the rush of seeing an audience react to their performances, the camaraderie of being together, a simple jam idea evolving into a fully-fledged song. After all that, how could you resist wanting more?

That connection gathered pace in Granada, Spain as they worked on new material with the Grammy Award winning producer Youth ( The Verve , Jesus & Mary Chain , The Charlatans ). The result, the upcoming ‘Exorcism of Youth’ , weaves fresh sonic elements into their renowned rock ‘n’ roll sound. Their first new track in eight years, ‘Just Like ’, received a suitable big reaction with a first play from Jo Whiley at Radio 2 , followed by being named Track of the Week at Amazing Radio . The View’s return continued to gain traction with the follow-up ‘Neon Lights’ .

Jack Black ends Tenacious D tour after bandmate’s Trump shooting comment

Kyle Gass (left) and Jack Black of Tenacious D performed in Louisville, Ky., in 2022.

The comedy rock duo Tenacious D — made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass — has canceled the rest of their tour after Gass’ remarks about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

While onstage at a concert in Sydney on Sunday, Gass was presented with a birthday cake and asked to “make a wish” by Black. Gass responded, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” an apparent reference to the rally shooting a day before that left the former president with an injured ear. The video of Gass was widely circulated on social media.

“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” Black said in a Tuesday statement on Instagram. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Following Black's statement, Gass apologized on Instagram.

“The line I improvised Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake,” he wrote Tuesday. “I don't condone violence in any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I'm incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement.”

The band recently completed dates in the U.S. and Europe. Their “Spicy Meatball Tour” was slated to continue Tuesday night in Newcastle, hitting most major cities in Australia and New Zealand this month before returning to the U.S. for a select few dates in October.

"Frontier Touring regret to advise that Tenacious D's concert tonight at Newcastle Entertainment Centre has been postponed," their touring company announced in a statement on Instagram Tuesday. "Ticket holders are asked to hold onto their tickets until further information is available."

When asked for further comment, a represented for the band directed the Associated Press back to Black’s statement. Details on refunds for the remaining tour dates were not immediately available.

Climbing Toward the Conclusion of the Tour de France

Over the course of three weeks, riders in the Tour de France traverse forests, vineyards, rolling hills, and steep mountain passes. In summer 2024, the 21-stage bicycle race kicked off in Florence, Italy, with routes wending through seven regions of France, dipping into San Marino and Monaco, and ending in Nice in the south of France. For the first time in its 111-year history, the race will not finish in Paris, the host city of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This image shows the route for the 2024 Tour de France. The race stages are overlaid on the Blue Marble: Next Generation July image, a composite of observations acquired by the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) on NASA’s Terra satellite. Yellow circles mark the start of each day’s stage, and black ones mark the finish. Dashed lines indicate motorized travel between stages.

In an event known for its merciless climbs, competitors in 2024 must power their way through the Apennines, Pyrénées, and Massif Central . In stages 19 and 20, the route ascends and descends through France’s Maritime Alps, in the western part of the range. The image below, acquired by the OLI-2 (Operational Land Imager-2) on Landsat 9 on July 11, 2023, shows the setting for these legs, which feature a combined 10,000 meters (32,800 feet) of climbing. The Landsat image was overlaid on digital elevation data from the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) to give a sense of the topography.

July 11, 2023 JPEG

The roller-coaster-like routes owe to the topography created by colliding continental plates. The Alps , which arc from the Mediterranean coasts of Italy and France through Switzerland and Austria, formed when the European plate subducted beneath the African plate. The collision caused rocks to fold, fault, and stack up, resulting in the massive European mountain chain that persists today.

In stage 19, cyclists tackle two climbs classified as hors catégorie , or “beyond categorization.” One of these ascents, too long and steep to fall within the race’s traditional categories of difficulty, culminates near the summit of La Bonette on the highest paved road in France and the highest point of the 2024 Tour de France at 2,802 meters (9,200 feet).

Stage 20, which starts close to sea level in Nice and ends at 1,678 meters (5,500 feet) elevation, crosses several mountain passes, including Col de Turini. The road’s dozens of tight, narrow hairpin turns have been featured in past Tours, as well as in the Monte Carlo Rally auto race held annually in January.

These routes cross Mercantour National Park and adjacent protected areas. The park encompasses a variety of habitats, including coniferous forests in the valleys; larch, Swiss pine, and rhododendron of the subalpine; and grasslands and heathlands in the harsh alpine environments above the tree line. Along with diverse landscapes, flora, and fauna, the area contains a number of “ perched villages ,” centuries-old settlements built into precipitous mountainsides.

The 2024 event concludes on July 21, when riders compete in an individual time trial between Monaco and Nice.

Is The View Cancelled for 2025? New Rumors Explained

The View cast members, red tear with The View logo appearing through

Social media rumors have audiences asking whether ABC cancelled The View for 2025.

Airing weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC, The View is a long-running TV talk show known for its all-women panel. Current hosts include Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Created by broadcast journalist Barbara Walters, The View is currently in its 27th season and often makes headlines with its guest stars, interviews, and takes on current social and political events.

Did ABC Cancel The View for 2025?

Whoopi Goldberg on ABC's The View

Viral social media posts claim ABC's The View was cancelled and won't be renewed for 2025.

The reasons range from a decline in viewership to ABC's decision not to renew Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar's contracts.

Despite the prevalence of these internet claims, ABC has yet to officially announce The View 's cancellation for the coming year.

In fact, misinformation about the show's status and rumors of it being dropped from ABC's lineup have made waves on the internet before.

A recent example occurred in March 2024, when an official spokesperson (via Reuters ) confirmed that the show hadn't been dropped and debunked online reports of declining viewership. They noted that The View is the most-watched among U.S. daytime talk shows.

Is The View in Danger of Being Canceled?

In addition to The View 's spokesperson refuting cancellation claims, ABC reported the talk show has enjoyed incredibly high viewership numbers in 2024, earning the top spot for daytime network talk shows and news programs for the weeks of February 26 and March 4.

Therefore, given its recent performance, claims that The View has been cancelled seem highly unlikely.

Earlier this year, the show's executive producer Brian Teta (via Wrap Pro ) attributed the talk show's uptick in viewership to the presence of culturally relevant stars, like Robert Downey Jr. , and political figures including Liz Cheney, Chris Christie, and Vice President Kamala Harris.

High numbers and engagement are also expected to continue, given that 2024 is a presidential election year and in light of recent and unprecedented current events.

In addition, 2025 will likely follow this trend as this year's political events will only continue to play out in the coming year.

At the same time, the divisive political climate within the United States may also be fueling The View 's cancellation rumors, especially after NBC pulled Morning Joe off the air following the attempted July 13 assassination of former President Donald Trump.

However, since The View 's premise is to offer multiple and often contrasting views and opinions, controversy and backlash are nothing new for the show and often why audiences tune in.

Therefore, as long as The View continues to perform, it's unlikely that ABC will drop the show from its 2025 lineup.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
