  • C Tier are last choices, relatively weak heroes not really worth adding to any team without serious levelling up and decent equipment.

Voyage Of The Four Seas Tier List

We have created a comprehensive tierlist for Voyage Of The Four Seas , which thoroughly evaluates every hero currently available in the game.

This is an introductory tierlist designed for new players who are focused on the campaign mode. It assesses all legendary heroes, disregarding collections and signature items since they are not widely accessible for review. However, this tierlist should still provide a general direction for constructing your account if your main objective is to progress through the campaign. It takes into consideration builds, synergies, inscriptions, trees, and more. Please note that the number of stars and overall power levels of each hero are particularly important, especially in the early stages of the game. And always remember, the primary objective is to have fun while playing the game!

One Piece Treasure Cruise - Best crews to start off your voyage

One Piece Treasure Cruise - Best crews to start off your voyage

One Piece Treasure Cruise features an extensive roster of characters built up over its almost ten-year pedigree, featuring a variety of both obscure and famous fighters from across the Grand Line and New World for you to play.

What is a crew?

So, tandems are really only present for FTP (free-to-play) characters. They can be useful very early on if you want to boost your team’s damage but don’t rely on them as they’re not particularly useful in the long run. But, as for how to build your crew there’s a variety of methods, with complimentary abilities, specials and more.

Now, for a basic overview of how characters work; each character has an element, which is a pretty common mechanic in most Japanese games . These represent different attributes and how they’re strong or weak against another, to start off with you’ll want to prioritise getting your commonly unlocked characters levelled up, the Strawhat Pirates. After that you'll concentrate on experimenting with new characters, it can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but we've got some sample crews to get you started, and one highly recommended deck from a few years ago that should let you breeze through the early game.

Here are some crew suggestions to get you started:

1 #1 - “Straw Hat Pirates”

one piece voyage best characters

Characters: (Captain) Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, Usopp, Nami

The Straw Hat Pirates are probably the most recognisable group from the series. And, as we noted in our tier list, they also have the greatest variety of evolutions and variants in One Piece Treasure Cruise. Since you unlock these characters throughout the main story, you’ll most likely have them, and they’re a great way to introduce yourself to how evolutions work; Luffy, Sanji, Zoro and Usopp also gain their own tandem attack, although as we noted this won’t be of much use early on, but can still be helpful if you’re mainly using FTP characters.

2 #2 - “Arlong Pirates”

one piece voyage best characters

Characters: (Captain) Arlong, Choo, Hatchan, Kuroobi, Fishman Pirates or duplicates to round out

One of the early teams who also have a tandem attack, the Fishman Pirates are another group that you’ll unlock through your adventures in the main story. They’re a good choice to expand beyond the central Straw Hat Crew, and at one point Arlong’s evolution was considered a top-tier character. Time, and updates, have neutered that potential somewhat but as you go through the vanilla story arc he’ll be more than suitable for a hard-hitting team. This is also one scenario where you may want to use generic fighting characters to round out - if you want to keep the theme that is. Otherwise, sub in a Straw Hat or anyone else who rounds out your elements.

You’ll also be able to evolve Arlong further as you go, although the other Fishmen will likely need to be subbed out in order to make space for other characters as you progress.

3 #3 - “EXPLaw”

one piece voyage best characters

This is a team you’ll frequently see cited for newer players. The bad news is you’ll need this version of Trafalgar Law and most likely Smoker to make it work, as well as a friend who has Law as well to be your ‘guest’ fighter. However, the good news is that the other three Straw Hats are all evolutions of their starting characters, so even if you’re FTP there’s only a need for about three out of six characters to be unlocked via pulls. As it stands this is one of the more detailed teams for clearing early-game content, but always bear in mind that mileage may vary with newer updates.

However, the general layout of this team speaks to the fact that - if you play your cards right - you’ll likely end up with rarer recruits early on. If you’re a lore purist this may be a little off-putting, but when you get rare team characters that you can play or want to grind and farm earlier content there’s no reason not to break out of the Straw Hat team.

4 Additional Tips & Resources

Thanks to nearly ten years of development and community engagement the One Piece Treasure Cruise fandom has put together a number of resources. The One Piece Treasure Cruise wiki offers detailed breakdowns of almost half the entire cast, although it cuts off some of the newer cards, while Nakama Network is an excellent resource for seeing what teams other players are running to clear content as well as trialling your own.

As we recommend in our reroll guide for One Piece Treasure Cruise , one key thing to remember and that we see shouted from the rooftops for new players is to wait for Sugo Fests when pulling. These roughly twice-per-month events allow for much greater pull chances of rare recruits and are considered basically the only time you should spend your Rainbow Gems, or - God forbid - real money.

The Best One Piece Main Characters Ranked

Luffy looks series before drawing swords

Top anime series are legendary for having runs as outsized as the characters and abilities that drive them. Even in a genre where nobody bats an eye at 200 episodes, though, "One Piece" stands alone. To start, it's still the same series; there is no "One Piece: Shippuden" spin-off or "Main Line Z." The anime now can be traced back directly to the story of a young boy who accidentally eats a devil fruit and dreams of being a pirate, over 1,000 episodes (and 20 years) ago. While there is a time skip, "One Piece" stars just one series with one driving force.

Given such a huge run, and considering that the anime ( and its manga source material ) is continually moving forward, shedding old characters and introducing new ones, one would be hard-pressed to list everyone in the "One Piece" world. After all, that expansive roster includes supercharged pirates, odd villagers, Fish-Men, fruit-mutated warriors, kings, princesses, and marines. There is one (mostly) constant, at least, in the exploits of the Straw Hat Pirates that are the center of this epic. While Monkey D. Luffy and his crew form the heart of the series, even among his crew there is regular shuffling and jostling for rank on the ship and for favor among the viewers. That said, we've done our best to identify and rank the greatest main characters from "One Piece."

13. Trafalgar D. Water Law

Traflagar Law smiles

Trafalgar D. Water Law is one of the toughest pirates to have ever sailed the ocean, which says a lot considering the massive number of pirates we meet throughout the storyline of "One Piece." His nickname, "The Surgeon of Death," drives this home (though it makes sense since he's a captain and doctor of the Heart Pirates). He ate the Op-Op Fruit, which allows him to slice anything and reattach it to anything else, and even switch a person's personality from one body to another or electrocute people (like a defibrillator could).

Trafalgar looks cool, as his body is covered in tough tattoos and a style taken from a '90s grunge band. Trafalgar is also a member of the "Worst Generation," the 12 up-and-coming pirates with the highest bounties. He is also one of the Seven Warlords, a group of top captains that the World Government supports.

He earns his "One Piece" stripes, though, in allying with the Straw Hats to take on one of the Four Emperors. These are the most fierce pirate captains not associated with the World Government, a move he makes because it's the right thing to do even though it gets him ejected from the Seven Warlords. Trafalgar answers to no man and fears no one. The fact that he has a D in his name, signifying he's from the legendary D clan, cements his place on the list despite never having served as a member of the Straw Hats.

Shanks gets angry

There would be no Straw Hats without Shanks. Not only did Shanks inspire Luffy to become a pirate, and accidentally provide him with the Gum-Gum Fruit that makes Luffy the savage he is, he even gave Monkey D. Luffy the eponymous straw hat.

Putting that aside for a second, Shanks' constant cool is a tribute to how tough he is — take, for instance, the scene when he casually sacrifices his arm to protect Luffy. Plus, he's obviously strong given the fact that he's said to have rivaled "Hawkeye" Mihawk, whose swordsmanship is so legendary he can sink whole ships with a swipe of his blade and easily bested Roronoa Zoro with only a dagger.

Shanks isn't a consistent character, but every time he appears is important. This is seen when Ace and the story catch back up with Shanks after he becomes one of the Four Emperors, meaning he was one of the four most powerful and feared pirate captains in the world. This is despite the fact that he has only one arm and, unlike the others, is actually normal-sized.

11. Portgas D. Ace

Ace smiles in the flames

Rest in power, Portgas D. Ace. The coolest pirate with the most legendary lineage, Ace is aptly named. To start with, he is the son of Gol D. Roger, the pirate king who hid the massive treasure, the One Piece, from which the series gets its name. Beyond that, he was raised by Monkey D. Garp, a legendary marine admiral whose lineage led to another pirate, Monkey D. Luffy. From this, Ace becomes Luffy's sworn brother. Ace also eats a Devil Fruit, which made him able to control fire, which is just an awesome ability regardless.

Ace is always funny and cool, appearing from time to time seemingly whenever he is needed, such as when he first appears to save the Straw Hats from Smoke. He is friends with Emperor Shanks and serves as a commander for the Whitebeard pirates. He is always calm, cool, and liked by basically everybody he meets, unlike his brother. Sure, sometimes he shows a haughty, dismissive nature, and he probably isn't seen as a model of political correctness, but he always means well.

Unfortunately, Ace is dead. He gives up his life to save Luffy from the Marines. However, given his huge impact on the Straw Hats and especially his younger brother, Ace lives on in "One Piece" forever.

Jimbei invites the fight

Jimbei is an example of how folks can overcome their differences. Despite being a Fish-Man, a species that traditionally doesn't ally with humans, Jimbei is the helmsman for the Straw Hats and a truly savage fighter. Sure, he's a massive whale shark, but he's also a master of Fish-Man Karate, another nod to martial arts on the Straw Hats after Zoro's samurai sword style. He even wears a gi at times.

He was a captain of the Sun Pirates and one of the Seven Warlords but, like many on this list, he gives up his own personal glory and titles to join the inspirational Monkey D. Luffy and his ragtag crew as their helmsman. He once has a fight with Ace that lasts days and leads to them both getting locked up. During that time, they become friends, and this is the first step towards Jimbei to join the Straw Hats.

He's fierce, loyal, and working to bring together two traditional enemies. Isn't that something we all need these days?

Franky stands akimbo

Japanese media has long loved its amazing robots, and Franky is the perfect marriage of human and android that the Straw Hats need to become complete. A longtime ship worker, what does he do when his ample human muscles are destroyed in an accident? Make himself into a cyborg, of course.

Franky, like the rest of the crew, joins the Straw Hats to fulfill his dream, which is to make the greatest ship to ever sail the seas. This dream is achieved when he builds the epic Thousand Sunny. Like many of the greats, he has ties to Gol D. Rogers, as he learned shipbuilding from Gol's shipwright. He also has cybernetic forearms that Popeye would be jealous of, and, like any respectable sailor, loves to roll around in a flowered shirt and a speedo.

He's fun and cool, throwing on his shades when things get serious and eternally hungry to pursue his passion. And again, he's the only pirate on "One Piece" to rock a Hawaiian shirt like a real seagoing boss.

Usopp with his slingshot

Yes, Usopp is the weakest member of Luffy's crew, and at times he acts cowardly. However, Usopp is the most loveable scamp on a team of loveable scamps, and unlike the others, he has had to work to find his niche. That niche is long-range weaponry using devastating attacks launched from a simple slingshot.

Like Luffy, Usopp had long dreamt of being a pirate. Unlike Luffy, he never really has had the ability, and until the Straw Hats discover him, he contents himself with telling lies about his exploits. Yet the dream to sail into the Grand Line is put to the test and despite his weaknesses, he joins the voyage.

Is his real role to provide comic relief for everybody? Probably. Few can cavort in nihilistic revelry as well as Usopp. He also has a unique skill, like the rest of the crew, one that has proven invaluable, as, in a team of close-range fighters, Usopp is a sniper. Beyond that, he is an inspiration for anybody who wants to achieve greatness despite being as ordinary as they come.

Plus, his cowardice is hilarious, and his actions, despite that cowardice, are then even more impressive.

7. Nico Robin

Nico Robin smirks

The women are the most intelligent members of the Straw Hats, no doubt. Nico Robin, the historian on the ship, is brilliant, just like Nami. Unlike Nami, though, Robin also has some epic Devil Fruit powers that make her a lethal fighter.

Robin is pretty much the only person in the world who can read Poneglyphs, a skill forbidden by the World Government because they contain the true history of the world. She is brilliant as a historian, but if you mess with her, she can make an arm she controls pummel you, making her a truly lethal member of the team.

She first appeared as the right hand to Crocodile, who put her in charge of Baroque Works, as he sought unscrupulously to conquer Alabasta. Baroque Works is full of insane warriors, many of whom give Luffy and the crew trouble as they fight their way to the top. After being betrayed, Robin switches sides, joining Luffy's crew. She proves herself an invaluable member of the team, and even though her loyalty may lie with finding the truth, she remains committed to the Straw Hats.

Mysterious, brilliant, and beautiful, Robin is truly incomparable in the Grand Line.

6. Tony Tony Chopper

Tony Tony Chopper smiles

As an animal who has taken on human form and intelligence due to a Devil Fruit, Tony Tony Chopper is an outlier in "One Piece," which is saying a lot. He's also the ship's doctor, which is its own difficult task. However, when called upon to fight, Chopper can become a literal beast.

There's a Clark Kent aspect to Chopper. Day to day he's a meek, high-pitched-voiced runt with antlers protruding out of his cap. When it's time to fight, he can morph into a massive, musclebound buck ready to take down anybody who threatens his ship. Like many of the others, his lifelong aspirations (in his case, to explore the world as his adoptive father and first doctoral instructor told him to do) were only realized through contact with Luffy and his crew.

Chopper is at times a bit inept despite his prodigious strength when growing to deer form. That simplicity and inherent goodness-inspired-weakness, though, is part of what makes him so great. His reactions to the weirdness of human ocean-going life help relieve tensions during crazy moments.

Sanji ready to fight

Sanji, Luffy, and Zoro make up the three OG heavies of the crew. You have the captain with the strong rubber fists who started it all; the man with the swords; and Sanji with the cannonball-powered kicks.

Sanji has been with the crew since East Blue days when he was a cook on a pirate restaurant boat. Monkey D. Luffy is notorious for how much he loves to eat, so a chef had been essential. Sanji's skills, however, far exceed the basics of grilling meats.

His kicks defeat people regarded as considerably stronger despite not having eaten Devil Fruit. Obviously, he's a brilliant chef to somehow keep the crew of the Straw Hats fed and happy. Yet, as Brook says at one point, he's also one of the best people on the team, who truly cares about folks and will throw himself on the line to protect those he cares about.

In fact, Sanji would be higher on this list if he didn't have one massive weakness — he loses all control any time he sees a beautiful woman. This isn't a good characteristic to have if a man wants to be a fearless pirate from the Grand Line to the New World.

Nami smiles knowingly

Nami is the smartest member of the crew, and she's also the heart and soul of it. She doesn't have Luffy's Devil Fruit power or Zoro's sword skills and training, or Sanji's leg strength, but she never shies away from a fight. Also, in a world full of cutthroat, scheming pirates, the fact that she first appears as a woman who specializes in robbing pirates (including stealing the Straw Hats' ship) is nothing short of remarkable.

Like the rest, Nami has a big dream. Hers is to create a map of all the world's oceans, something that would only be possible if she could somehow get on a ship with a crew that's strong enough to get to the Grand Line and beyond. Her brilliance extends beyond maps as she's also often the chief strategist, which has to be a thankless task given their reckless and impulsive captain, but she somehow endures it, mostly with patience.

Nami is impressive for being one of the few strong women in a world dominated by freakishly tough men. However, when her intelligence and craftiness shows through, you realize how unique she is as a "One Piece" pirate regardless of anything else.

Brook brandishes his sword

"That skeleton's got an afro and he's talking" is Luffy's reaction when Brook first greets them, and that description alone makes Brook one of the best characters in "One Piece." The living skeleton could easily grace a Guns N' Roses album cover. Yet he is a truly unique and powerful crew member. With an official role as the musician and entertainment on the Straw Hats, it can be argued that Brook is the artistic soul on the ship (obviously, given his nickname "Soul King" Brook). Then you see his special guitar wipe out a room full of enemies, and you realize he's so much more.

Brook is a fierce warrior and brilliant swordsman with his cane sword. It should be added that he's the only member of the crew to completely die. Brook ate the Revive-Review Fruit, which is why he's a living skeleton (his soul was revived, but it needed his body, which had decomposed by the time he found it).

This also gives him some ability to interact with the souls of others, making him a good judge of character. Thankfully, he finds himself among a crew who, in a world of bloodthirsty and selfish pirates, are truly good souls.

2. Roronoa Zoro

Zoro charges into battle

Men wielding samurai swords have a special place in Japanese culture, and Roronoa Zoro's quest to be the best swordsman in the world connects with this heritage. He is a member of the Worst Generation, the 12 "Supernovas" coming up to challenge and take over the ocean hierarchy. Zoro, however, holds the distinction of being the only member without Devil Fruit powers.

His prodigious strength and lethality result from a constant commitment to training. When everybody else is relaxing after an epic fight, Zoro is doing pushups or working on his Three Sword Style. While his quest to be the best may seem like a total ego trip, Zoro has another reason for pursuing his quest. His best friend growing up, a young woman, was a better swordsman than him. However, she tragically dies, so Zoro vows to become the best sword fighter in the world in her honor.

Zoro is the first to join Luffy and is the perfect counterbalance, as he is calm when Luffy gets excited and disciplined while Luffy is impulsive. Zoro also is quick to have Luffy's back regardless of how horrible a situation Luffy and his bad choices have gotten him into. Zoro is a true samurai in a world of cartoonish madmen.

1. Monkey D. Luffy

Luffy ready to rule

The main character in a great anime is pretty much always the best-developed character, and "One Piece" is no exception. Sure, Luffy can be stupid and rash. Yes, he doesn't give serious problems the respect they deserve, and often his own carelessness gets him into tricky predicaments. However, his heart inspires his crew and everybody who allies with him and the Straw Hats.

Luffy may not be the smartest character on "One Piece," but he has an unwavering belief in right and wrong. Even more, he will put his life on the line for a stranger if he sees that person getting bullied. Luckily, not only does Luffy have surprising strength for his size, but he also ate the Gum-Gum Fruit as a young kid, making him a rubber man. The brilliance behind this character is that you don't immediately think about rubbery limbs as being a great power, especially when compared to the ability to become a giant dragon. Luffy's talent, however, lies in how creative he can get with the ability and the many powerful manipulations he can execute with his stretchy limbs.

Luffy's smile and positive attitude are infectious. His unceasing loyalty, his outsized dream of becoming the pirate king, and his commitment to doing the right thing in a world of endless moral ambiguity fuel the respect he gets from friends and enemies alike, along with his near-endless drive. Plus, given his familial connection to Gol D. Rogers and that he's part of the powerful D clan all come together to make Luffy the best pirate ever to sail the Grand Line and beyond.

Chapter 1121 of the One Piece manga ends Vegapunk's lengthy world-shattering confession with an even more terrifying realization. The message has vital points , from a lost civilization to Luffy's inheritance as the second Joyboy. Still, at the end of Chapter 1121, the focus is on the One Piece. The One Piece is the unimaginable, mysterious treasure the pirate Gol. D Roger had left behind. Located on Laugh-Tale, it also appears to be more than just riches. Vegapunk tells audiences that the first pirate, Joyboy, may have left a powerful treasure behind.

This is when Vegapunk tells the world that while Joyboy hoped the treasure would be found by someone who shares their ambitions, that may not be the case, and whoever finds the One Piece may indeed change the world. To capitalize on this, series creator Eiichiro Oda gives readers a double spread of 12 key figures—the 12 key figures that fans have theorized will be in the final race for the One Piece. While these may be just the 12 main characters who will be featured in the Final War saga, the calling out of these figures should be addressed.

"The fate of the world now rests in the hands of the one who finds it!! The person who lays claim to the one piece!!!"– Vegapunk

12 The Swordsman With the Gryphon-Like Blade

Chapter 1121, “the ebb and flow of the ages” reveals this new character.

The first figure readers see is the silhouette of a man holding a sword. Not much information is known at the time of writing on whom this man is or his loyalties. Still, considering he is on this final spread page, he may have an even greater connection to the hunt for the One Piece than fans realize. However, fans have realised that the shadowy figure's sword looks almost like the Gryphon, the sabre that Yonko Shanks uses and could be of a supreme grade .

This similar blade has had fans theorize that this stranger has some connection to Shanks . The pirate Shanks is still clouded in mystery. As a non-devil fruit user and a former apprentice of Roger, there is a lot to Shanks that Oda has kept secrets from fans, only leaving nuggets for fans to follow, like his meeting with the Five Elders . Shanks and this stranger could have some relationship that would put them both on the path to the One Piece. There is even a theory floating around that this mysterious person could be Shank's twin and is the one that readers see talking to the Five Elders instead of Shanks.

11 Imu Wants the One Piece To Put an End to Joyboy

Imu speaks in e1118, ”the holy land in tumult sai and leo’s full-power blow”, one piece: everything we know about imu (so far).

One Piece's Imu is the Supreme Ruler of the World Government, and the mysterious character will play a big role in the series' Final Saga.

Imu remains the enigmatic ruler of the World Government, whose existence remains a secret except to a select few. Not even the gender of the monarch is known. What audiences do know is that Imu was alive during the Void Century, personally knew Joyboy, and was likely the figure's greatest foe. Imu has intense animosity towards Joy Boy, even going as far as killing one of their loyal Five Elders, Saint Saturn , when he failed to capture Monkey D. Luffy because of Joy Boy. The war these two waged left psychological marks on Imu.

With the One Piece's secret as Joy Boy's last effort exposed to the world from Vegapunk's message, Imu could take the initiative to hunt down the One Piece and tarnish Joy Boy's last legacy. Or even use it as bait for Luffy and the Straw Hats. While Imu themselves may have no use of whatever Joy Boy left behind, they could still use the One Piece to finally end Joy Boy's rebellion, once and for all.

10 Saint Garling May Race for the One Piece Without Imu

Saint garling debuts in ch.1086, ”the five elders”.

Saint Figarland Garling is a World Noble who recently became one of the recently explored and powerful Five Elders after Saint Saturn was killed by Imu. His true strength is unknown, but readers know his history as Supreme Commander of the God Knights and the champion of the God Valley incident. As the new Warrior God of Science and Defense, Garling's involvement in the story is about to ramp up. However, something interesting about Garling is that Oda placed him on the same double page as the other characters who may claim the One Piece .

Garling may have a separate motive for claiming the One Piece from Imu. Garling's personality shows a dislike for those he deems as trash and an unshakable confidence in his abilities. Garling's abrasive and prideful personality could set him on a collision course with Imu. Though this is all theoretical.

9 Aokiji’s Justice Could Lead Him to the One Piece

Aokiji duels with garp in ep. 1114 "for the beloved pupil - the fist of vice admiral garp".

Aokiji was one of the three major admirals before the time skip. He not only lost his job but also his leg after a duel with Akainu during the time skip. This event changed Aokiji entirely, as he was disgusted by the World Government finally coming to the realization of how deep their corruption goes. This led Aokiji to become a wanderer with no goal. That is until fans caught up with Aokiji and learned that he had joined the Blackbeard Pirates .

His true motives for joining Marshall are still a mystery, but he claims that it's because he wants to start living for himself rather than others. This change in mindset could be what places him on the path to the One Piece. While he is enthralled by Blackbeard, Aokiji does not seem like one who is loyal to Blackbeard and could claim the One Piece and its untold power for himself , using it to change the world or system in a way that's appropriate to him. Allowing for his own "justice" to be defined. This ex-admiral position could be why he's on the final page alongside Blackbeard.

"The thing called "justice" changes its shape... Depending on where you stand."- Kuzan'

8 Akainu Could End the Pirate Age With the One Piece

Akainu becomes fan’s worst enemy in ep. 483, "looking for the answer - fire fist ace dies on the battlefield", why the most-hated one piece character still enrages fans.

Admiral Akainu is one of One Piece's most hated characters. But why do fans loathe this character so much?

Akainu is notorious among the One Piece fans for his tragic murder of Portgas D. Ace, a fan-favorite character that even Oda hesitated to kill . As the currently acting Fleet Admiral, Akainu holds all the cards of the marines at his fingertips; as the Final War Saga continues, Akaniu's involvement will only grow. Now that Vegapunk's message has unveiled even more horrific secrets of the world and seems to be revolutionizing pirates to hunt down the One Piece with even more fervor, Akainu's grudge against pirates can lead him to a dark place.

Akaniu has no qualms about killing pirates, nor does he care about the method involved. He believes in absolute justice and that no life can be spared. With the One Piece as some hidden treasure of unknown power, Akainu could hunt down the One Piece to put a permanent end to pirates . As someone who believes that evil must be stomped out no matter what and as soon as possible, Akainu seems like the type to eradicate any ship flying the Jolly Roger flag until no pirates remain. Therefore, the world is drastically changing, as Vegapunk predicted.

"We must eliminate the very possibility of this "evil" existing!!"- Akainu

7 Sabo Has a Drive for Revolution That Could Use the One Piece

Sabo takes the blame for neferati cobra’s murder in ep.1117, "sabo returns - the shocking truth to be told".

Sabo, the revolutionary, is one of the few living beings who has seen Imu and survived. The same cannot be said for Neferati Cobra, who died during the Sacred Marijoa, and the world blames Sabo for it. As Luffy's last living brother and one of the strongest Revolutionary members, his inclusion in the Final War seems more than guaranteed. The former noble wants nothing more than to bring down the cruelty of the elite that he witnessed as a child.

Oda decided to place Sabo on the final page alongside the revolutionary leader, Dragon, meaning that Sabo could also be one of the people who may claim the One Piece. At the very least, his reasoning would be far more noble, as Sabo seems filled with morals. He could use the One Piece to end nobility and the Celestial Dragons, finally destroying his most prominent foe. An interesting scenario could happen where Sabo has to choose between helping Luffy get his dream of claiming the One Piece or destroying Luffy's dream by claiming it for the revolution. As Luffy's only brother remaining, it is more than likely that Sabo will pick his brother, which may throw a wrench in the leader's plans.

6 Monkey D. Dragon Could Use the One Piece to Speed Up His Revolution

Luffy’s father begins to make his move in ch. 1125, "what death means", one piece: everything you need to know about monkey d. dragon.

Monkey D. Dragon is one of One Piece's most mysterious characters, but he is crucial to Monkey D. Luffy's character—and One Piece's endgame.

Monkey D. Dragon is a character filled with mystery and purpose. Luffy's father, Garp's son, the leader of the revolutionary army and ex-marine, and who the Marines deem as the "Worst Criminal." Dragon's importance in the One Piece world has been felt even more lately as it's revealed that the Celestial Dragons are running low on food because of the revolutionaries. Dragon has always been working in the background. Still, the revelation of the sinking world and the power of Joy Boy may be what pushes Dragon to act faster.

As an inheritor of the Will of D, a crucial component of certain One Piece characters , Dragon has the same potential importance to the One Piece and the Celestial Dragons as Luffy, Marshall, and other D's do. While he may not be the person Joy Boy was hoping for, Dragon could use One Piece to accelerate his plan of freeing the world from the World Government, as now he believes that he and his teammates are on a time limit before the world starts destroying itself. The only real concern involves Luffy. Dragon claiming the One Piece may put him in direct opposition with his flesh and blood. However, considering Dragon's almost indifference to his son, it's possible that Dragon, unlike Sabo, would pick the world over Luffy.

5 Koby Is Willing to End Luffy’s Dream To Save the World

Koby makes this declaration in ch. 1122, ”time is right”, the mysterious sword organization in one piece, explained.

One Piece's covert SWORD Organization works for the Marines and the World Government, gathering secret intel on some of the most notorious Pirates.

Koby has been an important character since the first chapter. The first face that introduced the audiences to Luffy and his charming personality. Koby values Luffy in a way like no other marine has valued a pirate, as Luffy is responsible for Koby's life. Koby has a dream that puts him on opposite sides of the law with Luffy, a fact they've both recognized as inevitible. Koby wants to be the greatest marine and Luffy wants to be King of the Pirates. When Vegapunk's message ends, Koby comes to the horrifying thought. To keep the world safe, Koby needs to stop everyone from getting the One Piece. And everyone includes Luffy.

Koby is one of the final characters Luffy needs to face before the series ends, and a battle for ownership of the One Piece could be the perfect stage for it. While Koby's strength at the moment pales in comparison to the power that Gear 5 Luffy has, Koby has had tremendous growth over the two years he's been a marine. With further training and an even more immediate goal, Koby may be the toughest challenge Luffy has to face.

4 Buggy’s New Goal: Become the Pirate King

Tearfully, buggy makes his claim in ep.1116, "let's go get it buggy's big declaration", one piece: buggy keeps failing up – now, he has a real chance to find the one piece.

Though he may have started out as a one-off joke character, Buggy is now more primed than ever to become the next King of the Pirates.

Yonko Buggy the Clown leads the Cross Guild, a giant pirate group that can place bounties on the marines rather than vice versa. He's a character that was introduced early in One Piece and, since then, has had a steady growth from a low-ranking pirate to one of the Emperors of the Sea. Though he's had his victories, Buggy 's infamy is only due to his uncanny ability to be very lucky. With the conclusion of the Egghead Arc, Buggy decides that he is going to hunt down the One Piece despite Shanks , his former friend.

Being one of the four Yonko, Buggy has an advantage in hunting down the path to Laugh Tale and, unlike the other pirates, has the resources to send out ship after ship to do so. The Cross Guild, empowered by Mihawk's strength and Crocodile's resources, has been recognized as one of the most dangerous organizations. The group is radically influenced by Buggy's claim that the world belongs to them, and with Buggy's word that they'll outsmart their enemies rather than defeat them, it's possible that the last joke Oda could play is Buggy becoming King of the Pirates.

3 Red Haired Shanks Makes His Move

Shanks claims it's time to get the one piece in ep. 1081, "the world will burn the onslaught of a marine admiral", is shanks evil in one piece.

Some One Piece readers have theorized that Red-Haired Shanks is secretly evil. This could impact his reunion with Luffy and their race for One Piece.

Yonko Shanks finally sets out to get the One Piece after the finale of Wano. As the former apprentice to Gol. D Roger and one of the strongest fighters in the One Piece world, Shanks is possibly the closest pirate to finding the treasure. He's a character who has been moving in the background to achieve his goal, but fans are immensely aware of the strength and importance he has. Inspiring Luffy to become a pirate, putting an end to the Marineford War, and stopping the latest admiral from attacking Wano. Shanks is one of the strongest characters in One Piece .

Now he's joined the slate of characters hunting the One Piece, but it almost seems as if he was waiting for something or someone. Shanks decides to hunt the One Piece when he becomes aware that Luffy has achieved Gear 5 and joined his status as a Yonko. Shanks may have been aware of the importance of Joy Boy to One Piece and waited for Luffy to awaken his devil fruit before going after it. How close Shanks is to getting to Laugh-Tale is still unknown, but it's a guarantee that at the end we'll see him and Luffy face off against each other. As Oda placed Shanks on the final page, there's a guarantee that he'll be on Laugh-Tale soon enough.

“Hey, Beck...isn’t it about time to go and claim it?…The One Piece” - Shanks

2 Blackbeard Dreams To Be King of the Pirates

Blackbeard defeats law in ep. 1115 "the marines surprised marine headquarters' former admiral, kuzan".

Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, has been Luffy's narrative foil since his introduction. As one of the primary antagonists of One Piece, Blackbeard is responsible for Ace's death and Whitebeard's. His ability to steal devil fruits made him an emperor of the sea long before Luffy joined their ranks. Blackbeard stated that his dream was to become King of the Pirates, and the only way he would become king was by claiming the One Piece. As Oda placed him on the final page, alongside the others his dream may be closer than fans realize.

As the series progresses, Blackbeard's power continues to grow, as does his influence over other factions. His crew consists of some powerful devil fruit users, including Catarina Devon, who now has the appearance of Saint Saturn, and Caribou, who offers Blackbeard his help in exchange for getting out of Egghead. Caribou has been alongside the Straw Hats since Fishman Island. Some argue that the manga adaptation does this arc better . Because of this, Caribou may be able to provide Blackbeard with the information he needs to track down the One Piece. As an element of chaos, Blackbeard offers perhaps the most competition for Luffy and the others.

1 Luffy Will Be King of the Pirates

The second coming of joyboy, one piece: the true nature of luffy's devil fruit, explained.

One Piece Chapter 1044 reveals that essentially everything fans thought they knew about the Gum-Gum fruit is wrong, including its name.

Luffy is the captain of the Straw-Hat Pirates, and the protagonist audiences have followed for nearly a decade. His journey of discovery, growth, and power has been a joy to watch. He has inspired many in the world of One Piece and outside of it. As the protagonist, audiences expect Luffy to achieve his goal of obtaining the One Piece and becoming King of the Pirates. Oda placing him on the final double page was not surprising.

Luffy getting the One Piece also fits thematically. As the second Joy Boy and the one who unlocked the Nika powers of his fruit, Luffy truly understands what freedom is. From Alabasta to Wano, Luffy has placed freedom into people's hands. He's become the true Warrior of Liberation, just as Joy Boy once was. Luffy would be the perfect person to claim Joy Boy's final treasure. As he and Roger share a similar dream, according to those who have heard both, it would be more appropriate for the man who laughed at Laugh-Tale to have the infamous Straw Hat pirate as his successor. Above all else, Luffy understands the one thing that matters about being the King of the Pirates.

“I don’t want to conquer anything, it’s the one who’s the most free is the pirate king” - Monkey D. Luffy

Follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew in order to find the greatest treasure ever left by the legendary Pirate, Gold Roger. The famous mystery treasure named "One Piece".

Top 20 Best One Piece Characters, Ranked

Trafalgar D. Water Law Close-up Screenshot (One Piece)

If there’s any anime that has memorable, badass, and silly characters, it’s One Piece.

These characters are quirky – but they’re not flat. We can laugh at them, yet also empathize with them.

Oda’s characterization skills are amazing.

One Piece isn’t the second bestselling comic in the world for nothing. And if we were to rank some of the most notable One Piece characters, what would that look like?

Here’s a collection of our top picks.

Note: I won’t be including any of the main characters like Luffy or Nami, so we’re focusing on other characters that really stand out.

20. Kozuki Oden

Kozuki Oden from One Piece anime

This samurai was once one of the strongest men in the world. He was a man of principle and honor.

Ironic that he became a pirate, isn’t it?

A pirate he may be, yet he found love nonetheless and became a loving father and husband.

Oden was a silly man – but that’s what made him charming.

There won’t be anyone else that’s quite as similar as him ( cough Yamato cough ).

19. Silvers Rayleigh

Silvers Rayleigh One Piece anime screenshot

If the “Dark King” epithet doesn’t scream “badass”, I don’t know what will.

And another title of his is the “Right Hand of the Pirate King”. I’d be terrified of this pirate after hearing those appellations…

He has the strength to back it up too.

Plus he was one of the strongest swordsmen in his prime.

What I’m saying is this: he is still a force to be reckoned with, even as an old man. Although retired now, Rayleigh assuredly has a role to play in the final act of One Piece.

18. Dracule Mihawk

Dracule Mihawk in One Piece anime

Mihawk radiates “Don’t mess with me” energy.

And he’s right to give off the aura. He’s the greatest swordsman in the world, after all.

And the greatest swordsman needs to have a sword that’s as long as they are, right?

But setting aside that title for one second, let’s look at something other than his strength – his outfit.

Let’s be real here: Mihawk has to be the drippiest pirate on the Grand Line. I mean, who doesn’t love a gothic vampire hunter?

Come one, look at that mustache!

17. Marshall D. Teach

Marshall D. Teach from One Piece anime

A.K.A. Blackbeard, scum of the seven seas.

I’d say this man is the truest pirate of them all. Not true of heart, but true to a real life pirate.

Blackbeard is not the most liked character of all time (although he did rank 46 in the world popularity poll ).

However, upon meeting him at that bar in Jaya, you can’t say you didn’t like the guy. His ideals matched with Luffy’s perfectly:

“A man’s dream will never die!”

Then we realized the darkness he had underneath…

Yeah, not so likable anymore.

Marco One Piece anime screenshot

This legend with his legendary devil fruit could never be forgotten. His minor appearances as a supporting side character give only a taste of what he could do in an all-out fight.

Fortunately, that might change soon.

If you’re caught up with the anime, you’ll be excited to know that he’ll have a large role to play in this raid. With his mythical devil fruit ability, we’ll have no problem in healing our team.

Fun fact: there are three doctors on the samurai’s side, including Law, Marco, and Chopper.

Honestly I would’ve loved it if Marco had mentored Chopper during the timeskip. I know he had to deal with the aftereffects of the war, but perhaps teaching Chopper would’ve been a way of investing his cards into the Strawhat Pirates.

Marco certainly wouldn’t have felt out of place with the rest of the mentors the Strawhats received.

Zoro got the world’s greatest swordsman as his sparring partner, Luffy got the Pirate King’s right hand man, and Chopper got a library.

15. Bartholomew Kuma

Bartholomew Kuma in One Piece anime

When we first meet him, Kuma is a terrifying man.

We don’t really like him after what he did to the strawhats in Thriller Bark. However, as we get more information about Kuma, we start to like him a lot more.

This pattern of likability is the exact opposite to Blackbeard’s: both of whom have absolutely awesome devil fruits.

And the paw-paw fruit is a top-tier devil fruit that has near limitless capabilities.

Kuma was used as only an antagonist in the series, even though he was genuinely a good guy.

I hope we can see him regain his former self one day and greet him as an old friend.

14. Charlotte Katakuri

Charlotte Katakuri from One Piece anime

Katakuri is a phenomenal character that speaks little words – but his actions speak louder than what he says.

And Katakuri was an unofficial mentor of Luffy. He basically taught Luffy how to use advanced observation haki.

He’s even the best big brother in the Charlotte family, and candidate for the best older brother in the series.

His caring nature lands him as the favorite amongst his siblings.

Now that he’s met Luffy, how will he use his immense power for the Charlotte family in the future?

Kuzan One Piece anime screenshot

Ever since we met him in Long Ring Long Land Island, Kuzan has stayed as an enigma.

Kuzan’s true thoughts (formerly known as Aokiji) are never revealed to us, or anyone. For some strange reason he’s affiliated with the Blackbeard pirates?

Well what we do know that he isn’t entirely a villain , yet he has his own morals and goals that he follows.

Aokiji also has a devil fruit attached with a fundamental element: ice .

The last time we saw someone with a devil fruit with one of the four core elements, they changed the entire pirate world as we knew it.

No, I’m not talking about Caribou. Or Pica.

And not Crocodile either but that’s debatable.

12. Bentham

Bentham from One Piece anime

How could I not include Bentham to be one of the best One Piece characters of all time?

He saved Luffy three times . Bentham’s usefulness and Devil Fruit ability cannot be understated.

I was ecstatic to see his Clone-Clone Fruit in the Wano arc. It was a nice call back to Alabasta.

Bentham certainly has a place in the upcoming war – and I’m all here for it.

11. Bellemere

Bellemere in One Piece anime

Bellemere is arguably the most relatable mom in One Piece.

We saw her hardships and struggles with raising two step-kids in poverty. That covers three subjects many people can relate with: struggling single mom, step-relationships, and poverty.

Bellemere’s proof of her love for her children is what brings her up to a 10/10 mom for me.

The other 9 points come from her style. Damn that hair is wickedly beautiful.

Buggy One Piece anime screenshot

What is there not to love about Buggy?

He’s one of the funniest characters in the series, with an amazing voice actor to play the role.

And Buggy has one of the best devil fruits in the series. Honestly, it’s so versatile that you could’ve given Luffy the Chop-Chop Fruit instead, and he would’ve defeated his opponents as if he had the Rubber-Rubber Fruit.

Truthfully, I have a feeling Buggy is going to be the final obstacle to stop Luffy from becoming the Pirate King.

Who knows how powerful he’s gotten over the past few years.

9. Monkey D. Garp

Monkey D. Garp from One Piece anime

Garp has done so much for Luffy, the marines, and the world.

At this point I’ve got to honor him as a hero in this list. He stood up against one of the greatest pirates of all time by fighting alongside one of the greatest pirates of all time.

Garp needs more screen time (like many other characters).

I’ve got to see him flex on these pirate underlings more.

I wonder what side he’ll take during the Final War…

8. Donquixote Doflamingo

Donquixote Doflamingo in One Piece anime

Doffy is one of the best villains we’ve seen in an anime. His ruthlessness paired with the power to back it up makes for a perfect combination for a villain.

However, he’s a negotiator too. He’s not all brute force doing what he wants.

There’s a method to his madness.

But what I love about him the most is his backstory, since it really complicates his character.

Doffy feels like a real character that isn’t just there to see the world burn (ironic because his nickname is Joker).

Jinbe One Piece anime screenshot

I wish I had an uncle like Jinbe. He’d give me all sorts of life advice and help me with anything I’d need.

Jinbe is a powerful protector, the perfect rearguard. And his ability to manipulate water is insanely unique.

He doesn’t need drugs to enhance himself either— Jinbe is all skill and technique.

Imagine if Jinbe was a Pokémon.

I would never get a chance to play the other starters because I’d pick him in every single playthrough.

6. Donquixote Rosinante

Donquixote Rosinante in One Piece anime

I know what you must be thinking: why is Rosinante above Doflamingo?

I must be biased right?

Well, not exactly. Let me explain.

Doffy outclasses Corazon in nearly every department: strength/ability, relevance, and possibly even drip (that one’s debatable).

But the reason why I put Corazon above his brother is because Rosinante just hits differently .

Doffy’s backstory ends when he shoots his father. But Corazon’s doesn’t end until he dies for Law.

Sure Doffy has better fight scenes and lines of dialogue. But Corazon as a character outclasses the Heavenly Demon. I know some of you may prefer villainy over altruism – and that’s fine.

But Corazon is the type of man that deserves so much better than what he got.

His life could have continued on as a successful marine if not for Doflamingo shooting him in the chest.

Okay, so maybe I’m a little biased.

Makino from One Piece anime

I must be crazy to put Makino even near the top of this ranking.

But answer me this: who’s the first waifu—the original waifu— we’ve seen in the anime? (I swear, if you say Alvida…).

That’s right, it was Makino.

She’s the one villager we’ve seen who was friendly with Shanks (probably the father of her child too). She was the girl who took care of Luffy, Ace, and Sabo as kids.

Makino was an outstanding role model for each of these monumental characters.

Wait, if she has a child and the children she nurtured were Luffy, Ace, and Sabo….

…I wonder what kind of kid they’ll turn out to be…

4. Nefertari Vivi

Nefertari Vivi One Piece anime screenshot

Vivi is a queen. Literally.

She has the benefit of having the blood of a “Celestial Dragon”, but is also a nice person who was part of a crime syndicate and the pirate crew of the future pirate king.

With that resume, she could get any job she wants!

Seriously though, Vivi is one of the best (if not the best ) leaders we’ve seen in One Piece.

She inspires viewers with her upbeat personality, selflessness, and wisdom – yet she shows her weakness as well.

3. Nico Robin

Nico Robin in One Piece anime

Robin’s placement here is rightfully deserved. She’s the cornerstone in not one, but TWO of the most memorable arcs in the series, with a possible third arc soon to come (as of this writing).

Robin is imperative to finding the one piece, the namesake of the show.

Without her, our options are extremely limited when it comes to reading the poneglyphs , the stones directing us towards the one piece.

And Robin’s devil fruit ability is also immensely creative and fun.

Now it seems we’ll finally get to see more of Robin in a fight during the raid.

But besides Robin’s prowess and skills, she’s also the best girl in One Piece. ‘Nuff said.

2. Trafalgar D. Water Law

Trafalgar D. Water Law from One Piece anime

As a kid, I always had trouble pronouncing Law’s first name.

Honestly, Trafalgar is such a difficult word to pronounce, I’ve seen adults have trouble with the name.

But that didn’t stop me from putting him at the number two spot on this list.

Trafalgar is so active in One Piece.

His ambition to take down something so much more powerful than him (like Doflamingo or Kaido) could’ve been matched only by Luffy.

Even though he isn’t an official member of the Strawhat crew, Law got two full arcs where he played lead roles in the arcs.

Law got a lot of love and attention from Oda – hell, even the fans love Law.

The Surgeon of Death’s reputation precedes him.

1. Sogeking

Sogeking One Piece anime screenshot

On the sniper island, the Sniper King was born.

He saves those that need saving.

Sogeking is a hero who shows bravery in the face of terror. The Sniper King is on the same level as the Pirate King.

His Observation Haki reaches far beyond what’s humanly possible.

But the one thing that definitively cements Sogeking as the best character in One Piece outshines every other awesome aspect of our hero.

In One Piece, the only character to have their own theme song (and visuals to accompany it) is Sogeking.

And remember, if you ever need the services of the Sniper King, look inside your heart!

All One Piece Openings, Ranked From Worst to Best

Image of Jordan Althoff

Some anime have absolutely great music and opening songs that fans just can’t get enough of. One Piece has a lot of opening songs, covering its 1000+ episodes, but which ones are the best?

One Piece has been releasing some bangers for its opening themes since it was first released in 1999. While I would say none of the songs are bad, there are definitely some that are better than others while a few can hold the title of iconic. There are 24 opening themes with one of them repeating four separate times throughout the 25 years it’s been on air. Get ready because we’re ranking each one; they all deserve a spotlight.

24. Kaze wo Sagashite by Straw Hats & Mar Yagushi

One Piece Kaze wo Sagashite

Just because “Kaze wo Sagashite” is last doesn’t mean it’s a bad song. It hits number 24 because it’s deceptively happy and upbeat for the arc that it introduces. The opening song in context with the anime and the opening animation is perfect, but it isn’t one I would listen to often.

23. Super Powers by V6

One Piece Super Powers

When “Super Powers” first played I was not impressed. I wasn’t sure what Toei Animation was thinking when they decided to make this an opening song. However, after listening to it a few times it slowly grew on me. It gets number 23 for its horrible first impression.

22. Wake Up! by AAA

One Piece Wake up!

“Wake Up!” by AAA is a great upbeat opening song that certainly matches the One Piece feel. It’s fun to listen to and one that will get any watcher hyped for the episode to come. But in the sea of many opening themes, I tend to forget about this one unless it shows up in a One Piece playlist.

21. Bon Voyage! by Bon-Bon Blanco

One Piece Bon Voyage

“Bon Voyage!” is one of the older opening themes of the anime. It’s a cute song that is always a delight to hear on a One Piece playlist. It has an official English version from when the anime was getting its English Dub which is also pretty good for a translation.

20. Hikari E by The Babysitters

One Piece Hikari E

“Hikari E” is another older opening song with an English version. Both of them are great. It’s an upbeat opening. The second I hear the guitar in the intro I am immediately singing along with it. Of course, the animated opening that went along with the song will go down in history as one of the biggest spoilers, revealing Nico Robin as a future crew member.

19. Crazy Rainbow by Tackey & Tsuabasa

One Piece Crazy Rainbow

It’s chaotic, there are rainbows, and it’s a bop. “Crazy Rainbow” is one of the openings where I know the instrumental better than the words, but I will sing “Crazy crazy rainbow star. Twinkle Twinkle rainbow star” at the top of my lungs when the chorus comes on.

18. Uuuuus! by Hiroshi Kitadani

One Piece Uuuuus!

“Uuuuus!” is the most recent opening for One Piece , and it is a delight. It’s sung by Kitadani Hiroshi who is a regular contributor to One Piece openings. It has Kitadani Hiroshi’s flavor written all over it, making it an upbeat song that will make you want to dance. However, I wouldn’t say it’s the best song he’s done but maybe it’s because of how new it is and it still needs time to grow on me.

17. THE PEAK by SEKAI NO OWARI

One Piece The Peak

“THE PEAK” is the last opening for the Wano arc in One Piece . The chimes at the very beginning are a great touch that leads into a simple upbeat song. It gets me bopping along in my seat whenever it comes on. The animated sequence for the opening is special with its constant circle theme, representative of the sun, and its nostalgic showing of different key moments compiled to create the title at the end.

16. Jungle P by 5050

One Piece Jungle P

“Jungle P” is one of the first openings where the entire song is used and not a shortened version. This made it easier to fall for the song in its entirety. I appreciate the mini rap in the song. It’s entirely in English and addicting to sing along.

15. We Can! by Hiroshi Kitadani

One Piece We Can!

Hiroshi Kitadani returns with the song “We Can!” which definitely has his signature sound that makes him easily identifiable. He nails it again with the combo of fun vocals and great instrumentals. It’s a fun song to sing with. If you don’t know the Japanese well then singing along with the guitar or playing some air instruments is just as fun.

14. Brand New World by D-51

One Piece Brand New World

“Brand New World” is a fast-paced electronic song that perfectly hypes up the arc it introduces. Alone, it becomes a great song to blast from my speakers while I clean to keep me motivated and moving. It’s also great for 3:00 a.m. karaoke with your nerd friends.

13. Believe by Folder 5

One Piece Believe

“Believe” is the second opening for One Piece . It holds a lot of early 2000s upbeat vibes and the nostalgia is strong. It sounds like it could show up on an old DDR game and I’m here for it. English-speaking audiences got an English version which for the 2000’s wasn’t bad either.

12. Over the top by Horoshi Kitadani

One Piece Over the Top

“Over the Top” is one of the opening songs that gets easily stuck in my head. It has a strong intro that makes anyone want to sing “One Dream! One Wish!” as loud as they can. It takes on a life of its own with the spirited trumpets and other wind instruments combined with the guitar and drums.

11. Kokoro no Chizu by BOYSTYLE

One Piece Kokoro no Chizu

“Kokoro no Chizu” is another opening song that’s upbeat and happy but leads to an emotionally traumatic arc known as the Water 7 arc. Despite the trauma, this is one that I have played on repeat too many times and one I do not skip when rewatching One Piece .

10. We Go! by Hiroshi Kitadani

One Piece We go!

“We Go!” is the first opening after the time skip. It’s a call back to the first opening song “We Are!” as it introduces the second half of One Piece . It gets the honor of starting the top 10 countdown. The song itself is great and it serves as a great milestone opening for those who have made it that far into the show.

9. Share the World by TVXQ

One Piece Share the World

TVXQ is a K-pop group that also released Japanese albums under the name Tohoshinki. While “Share the World” is in Japanese, it has the flair of a K-pop song that makes it unique in the One Piece opening line-up. This is one that I’ve played on repeat too many times to count.

8. Hands Up! by Kouta Shinzato

One Piece Hands up!

When “Hands Up!” tells me to put my hands up and stand up I do every time. Unless I’m in my car which I then just put one hand up. This is a song that is great for getting anyone motivated for the day.

7. PAINT by I Don’t Like Mondays

One Piece Paint

“PAINT” is not one of the most fast-paced openings but it has a melody that just makes you want to sing your heart out. Every time a new episode started, I couldn’t help by sing along. Thanks to the opening animation that goes along with it, “PAINT” has a lot of bittersweet feelings attached. It gets bonus points for the band name.

6. Hard Knock Days by GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE

One Piece Hard Knock Days

Here is a fast-paced rock song that will get your blood pumping. “Hard Knock Days” has been added to my workout playlist because of how lively it is. This optimistic song will give anyone a burst of serotonin as soon as it comes on.

5. Fight Together by Namie Amuro

One Piece Fight Together

Namie Amuro is an amazing Japanese Singer and “Fight Together” lives up to her reputation. The electronic instrumental with that bird tweet and vocals of an angel easily puts this song on the top five for One Piece openings. It becomes one of the more emotional openings because it covers the flashback arc of Ace and Luffy’s childhood.

4. One Day by The Rootless

One Piece One Day

Speaking of emotional opening songs, “One Day” is the most emotional and will make me cry when I don’t expect it. It’s a slower rock song that becomes my go-to ballad when I’m singing in my apartment. It’s a beautiful and emotional song about not wanting to lose what’s important and it guts me every time.

3. DREAMIN’ ON by Da-iCE

One Piece DREAMIN' ON

“DREAMIN’ ON” became my #2 song most played in 2022 and for good reason. It is one of the most hyped songs in the One Piece lineup. It’s a rock song that out rocks all the openings before it. It was love at first sight and to this day is still one of my favorite openings.

2. Hope by Namie Amuro

One Piece Hope

“Hope” was my #1 song for three years in a row. Namie Amuro is back at it again with an amazing song that as the title implies, will give anyone listing hope. The song is fast-paced with top-notch vocals that make you want to belt the song. Ironically, this song shares an arc with “Super Powers” which might lead to why the transition from “Hope” put it at a disadvantage.

1. We Are! by Hiroshi Kitadani

One Piece We Are!

“We Are!” gets the #1 spot on this list because it is the iconic song out of them all and is the only one that would unite every One Piece fan. This was the song that introduced everything and the instrumentals continue to appear throughout the episodes. “We Are!” is special because it is the first opening, the seventh opening, the tenth opening, and the opening song used for the 1000th episode. “We Are!” was covered by TVXQ and the Straw Hat voice actors for separate openings.

That’s our roundup of all One Piece openings. For more, check out how many filler episodes the anime has.
