Massage Therapist Job Description and Duties:

- Reports to the ship's Beauty Salon/ Spa Assistant Manager and to the Beauty Salon/ Spa Manager

- Offers professional massage and body treatments (Relaxation, Sport and Deep Tissue massages) to guests

- Responsible for maintaining schedules as well as for the maintenance of the massage equipment and room facilities

- The Massage Therapist would effectively inform and educate passengers about specific wellness issues and would handle passengers’ questions or concerns in a professional and courteous manner

- Must possess a complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered and actively promote the beauty salon/ spa treatments, services and products thus increasing revenue as well as his/ her personal earnings

- In cases of passenger complaints the duty of the Massage Therapist is to try to resolve the situation in a polite and professional manner and to make sure that guests are satisfied with the service

- Must be well groomed, keep presentable personal appearance and follow company guidelines regarding uniforms and personal hygiene

- Participates in courses, meetings and training programs organized by the Beauty Salon/ Spa or the cruise line in order to develop the necessary skills needed for promotion to superior level position

Massage Therapist Job Requirements:

North American candidates for massage therapist position must hold a license in massage therapy or a diploma in Swedish massage with Anatomy and Physiology (minimum 150 hours). Any additional courses, e.g. aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Reiki, remedial massage is beneficial

European candidates must be qualified in Swedish/Sports massage with NVQ, ITEC, VTCT, (minimum 150 hours). Any additional courses, e.g. aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Reiki, remedial massage would be considered as a plus. Massage with Facial Electrics, Level 2 NVQ and Level 3 NVQ (Massage)

Candidates from Australia and New Zealand must be qualified in Swedish/Sports massage with ITEC, Cert 4, (minimum 150 hours). Any additional courses, e.g. aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Reiki, remedial massage would be considered as a plus

South African candidates for cruise ship massage therapist position must be qualified in Swedish/Sports massage with NVQ, ITEC, VTCT, (minimum 150 hours). Any additional courses, e.g. aroma therapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Reiki, remedial massage would be considered as a plus

Candidates from all countries must be qualified in Swedish Massage. Any additional qualifications like Aromatherapy, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Reiki Healing or Sports Therapy is a definite plus

Massage Therapist Salary Range:

$2800 - 4500 U.S. per month depending on gratuities, comission on sales, size and itineraries of the cruise ship. Possibilities for promotion to Assistant Beauty Salon/ Spa Manager position.

We offer several cruises a year and travel to many different and exciting ports of call and depart from various locations throughout the United States.

How to Get Hired

How long did it take from first applying for the position to getting your first contact from the cruise line company?

It took 4 months.

Well, it was a bit of a rush. I was told at 9 pm that I was going, so I had to be ready for the airport at 5 am the next morning!

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines is one of the world’s most popular and most prominent cruise lines. Founded in 1968, the cruise line now has more than 20 ships in their fleet all of them donned with a name that ends, “Of The Seas.”

Royal Caribbean offers mainstream cruising into some of the world’s most popular oceans. While for years it concentrated mainly on the Caribbean, it has since expanded now offering cruises into Bermuda, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. What began as a small fleet operating out of Florida with simply a great idea to provide cruises for rich and wealthy Americans, has become a name synonymous with luxury and family cruises all over the world.

Royal Caribbean has similar jobs to those of other cruise lines. Jobs tend to be divided up by land based jobs and jobs that take place on the ship. Employees who work on land based jobs for the cruise line enjoy benefits like family and friend discounts on cruises and other perks of working in the industry but aren’t required to leave their families behind for months at a time while on contract. Because Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Headquarters are in Miami, a large number of corporate, management, sales and telephone guest services are located in Florida.

Ship based jobs are what most people are after when wanting to join the Royal Caribbean cruise line job force. Sailing the warm waters of the Caribbean, taking in the views of the Mexican coastline, attending to happy guests onboard after a day in the sandy beaches all seems like a dream come true. Ship jobs on any cruise line offer the incredible advantage of working a lot of hours and spending very little money over the course of a ship job contract. The same is true for Royal Caribbean cruise ship employees. Because the cruise line almost always pays for accommodations, offers compensation or free food, the savings potential is incredible.

To find out what jobs are available with Royal Caribbean Cruise lines you can always check their online career opportunity job board. However, if you don’t see what you’re looking for there and still want to work for the cruise line, consider sending in an application or resume unsolicited. Cruise companies often don’t openly advertise for positions that are available so by expressing an open interest you’ve already put yourself ahead of the game. Cruise ship operators also hire out companies to hire for them so looking through a cruise ship job finder is also an excellent way to go. Companies such as this often have special relationships and access to jobs that aren’t otherwise advertised.

Working for Royal Caribbean you are with one of the most long standing and popular cruise lines in the world. All employees are paid fair wage with an increase in salary as the job title, amount of experience and responsibilities increase. Some cruise ship employees can make as much as $6,000 over the course of a four-month contract in savings. Major Russian missile factory goes up in flames after latest Ukrainian drone strike

A Russian missile factory has been set on fire after an alleged Ukrainian drone attack, the latest in a string of retaliatory attacks across the border.

The attack happened at the Tomilinsky Electronic Plant in Lyubertsy near Moscow, while the capital's Mayor Serhiy Sobyanin announced on the Telegram messaging app that the Russian air defences stopped another attempted attack. The attack is another major blow to Putin as Ukraine ramps up its drone attacks on aggressor nation Russia. The extent of casualties and damage was not immediately clear. Sobyanin wrote: "Near Lyubertsy, another attempt to fly a drone to Moscow was stopped. There were no injuries or damage. Emergency services are working at the scene. Thanks to the military for not letting us spoil the Day of Knowledge!"

The Ukrainian defence ministry claimed the fire at the missile electronics plant was from a drone, according to a report in Kyiv. "It was the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence operation, it was a success and there will be more", said a source according to Ukrainskaya Pravda.

Ukraine has stepped up its cross-border attacks in recent months, seemingly in retaliation for the ongoing war in Ukraine. Ukraine has not commented on this specific attack and almost never claims public responsibility for such attacks. An attack on May 30, which Ukraine hasn't claimed responsibility for, marked the first time the capital had been hit in a large-scale drone strike since the war began.

Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for Ukraine's military intelligence, told the Kyiv Post in July that the fact that drones have been able to reach Russia's capital testifies to the fact that the Putin regime is unable to fully control the sky even for the protection of the most important facilities."

Intelligence spokesman Andrey Yusov said of this latest attack: "A workshop producing electronics for missiles is on fire. Why it burns and who made it burn, we do not comment. But the fact is it is burning. And the statements of representatives of the Moscow authorities that they shot down something do not correspond to reality."

Elsewhere in Russia , there was another barrage of kamikaze drone attacks with claims that the nuclear plant town Kurchatov in the Kursk region had been hit. Two UAVs hit an administrative and residential building in Kurchatov, claimed Governor Roman Starovoyt.

He said: "Investigators are on the scene to assess the extent of the damage." He did not specify any damage to the Kursk nuclear power plant in the town. A video showed a large aerial explosion in the moonlight over Pskov in northern Russia, the scene of a devastating attack earlier this week when two Il-76 transport planes were destroyed, and another pair badly damaged. While new satellite images show the devastation on the military airbase, a key hub of Russian paratroopers.
