What it's like to cruise france's rhône valley wine country, tauck exclusive – gala evening at the duché d'uzès, our exclusive gala evening at the duché d'uzès.

The Duke of Uzès kindly requests your presence at his family castle for dinner. Expect to be wined and dined at a grand château that architecturally chronicles its history, from its foundation on the site of a Roman governor's home in the first millennium to its role as the medieval residence of an exiled 9th-century Duchess, the first woman in the Occident to write a book, to its Renaissance renovation, its languish in the Revolution, its 19th- and 20th-century reincarnation as a school to its meticulous renovation in 1954 by the influential Marchioness of Crussol who reacquired the family home. Her vision comes to life in treasured keepsakes and a resplendent décor that provide a stunning setting for Tauck's exclusive gala evening.

Tauck Exclusive – Experience la Camargue

An exclusive provençal experience on a family owned ranch in la camargue.

Drive past marshy fields of grazing bulls and white horses to a privately owned ranch in la Camargue, where the Rhône meets the sea, and experience a different taste of Provençal life for Tauck guests only. It begins with a horseback welcome by the warm-hearted family who lives here, continues with a farm-fresh feast of locally produced fare and a heartfelt guitar serenade, and culminates in a display of skill by Provençal cowboys (known as gardians) that will have your heart racing at every turn.

I have traveled extensively in France, but Tauck offered new and unique experiences which would be impossible on my own. I was delighted every day.

Aix, art & a mansion hotel Location Information Description

Aix-en-Provence, France

Our Culturious Provence tours begin at 3:00 PM at Le Pigonnet, Aix-en-Provence. A transfer is included from Marseille Provence Airport to Le Pigonnet in Aix-en-Provence.

As it has millions of wayfarers before you – and not a few sailors from all corners of the globe – the old "port" of Marseille welcomes you to the south of France. And so commences a sensual journey through Provence… past lavender fields and ancient stone walls… a true feast for the senses. To the locals, Aix-en-Provence is simply “Aix.” Strolling its boulevards with a local guide, you’re taking in the same views that inspired Cézanne… Gauguin… van Gogh… Zola… no doubt ready to share your own – um – impressions of this charming old university town with the world.

Aix’s grandest boulevard, the Cours Mirabeau, dates back to the 17th century. Lined with plane-trees, elaborate fountains and opulent mansions, it invites a leisurely bike ride, a brisk walk, or a cognac in one of its many popular cafés. So what will it be… a drawing? A painting? A novel? Take your time to decide; there's no hurry. But first, join us for cocktails, canapés, and a sumptuous dinner in your 18th-century mansion hotel as we begin the ultimate Provence tours... for the Culturious.

LE PIGONNET

Cézanne, Château La Coste & more in "Aix" Location Information Description

Follow the footsteps of post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne through his hometown, Aix-en-Provence, today. See the landscapes he painted, the fields where local residents became his subjects, the views of Mont Sainte-Victoire that so inspired him, and the studio where he worked. Garner a few handy phrases en francais from your Tauck Director as you explore.

Head just north of "Aix" to Château La Coste, a classic Provençal château, vineyard and estate whose heart – a 17th-century Venetian-style villa – is surrounded by olive groves, hilltops covered by oaks and almond trees, and hundreds of acres of lovingly tended vines. Discover works by some of Europe's greatest living artists on a walk through the château's expanding sculpture gardens, or visit its working organic winery, and enjoy lunch al fresco (weather permitting).

Then return to Aix for a free afternoon and evening with dinner on your own in this inspiring city... and perhaps become inspired yourself to create a masterwork of your own...

Breakfast, Lunch

Gordes & a Provençal picnic Location Information Description

Gordes, France

Savor a visual feast of fairy-tale villages, meadows and moorlands as you explore Gordes today. Stroll the town’s arcaded medieval lanes and stop by a market to pick up the makings of a traditional picnic lunch – perhaps a baguette, fruits and meats, cheese, olives and, naturellement, wine… whatever tempts your palate! Rich with color, chalk and red ochre cliffs, cedar forests and river-hewn gorges surround. Enjoy your picnic lunch in a Provençal meadow, then continue to your hotel in Gordes, overlooking the lovely village and the valley beyond. Dine this evening at the hotel, which sports a restaurant by Michelin Star chef Pierre Gagnaire.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

HOTEL LA BASTIDE DE GORDES

Time stands still in the Luberon Location Information Description

day1_img4 Time stands still in the Luberon Some call the hilltop villages of the Luberon the “sentinels of time.” No wonder. Looking out over wild stretches of cedar and oak, they seem to have been here forever. Enjoy a morning walk to the medieval Abbaye de Senanque; founded in the 12th century, it is still tended by a small community of Cistercian monks.

Location Information Description

Menerbes, France

Next, visit Ménerbes, which author Peter Mayle made world-famous in A Year in Provence; enjoy a delicious lunch of typical French fare, then follow it with an easy hike through the quarries of Roussillon, where the deep ochre used in the town's architecture harmoniously blends into the warmth of the natural surroundings. Return to your hotel in Gordes, where the evening is yours to spend as you wish.

Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, St-Remy & Glanum Location Information Description

Saint Remy, France

Deep beneath the hills of Provence, the most powerful spring in France bursts forth at nearly 20,000 gallons per second to feed the Sorgue River, emerging in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, once the home of the Italian poet, Petrarch. Your Provence tours visit St-Rémy-de-Provence, home to the asylum of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, where legendary Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh went to heal and hide out... and where he created over 150 works, including Starry Night. After time to explore and enjoy lunch on your own in St-Remy, you'll glimpse inside the artist’s troubled mind as van Gogh scholar Mathilde Duvilliers shares insights on his complicated life, and reads from his letters, while you walk in his footsteps at the asylum and its grounds. The ancients roamed here too; explore the ruins of the Roman city of Glanum, one of the largest and oldest archaeological sites in France.

Avignon, France

Arrive late afternoon at Auberge de Cassagne & Spa in Le Pontet-Avignon for a three-night stay. In addition to its lovely gardens, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, where you'll enjoy dinner tonight, is a real treat!

Breakfast, Dinner

AUBERGE DE CASSAGNE & SPA

A day of wining & dining in Avignon Location Information Description

On market day in Avignon, partake in the process of bringing great Provençal food from the market to the plate. Join a chef on a buying trip to an Avignon market – smelling, tasting, and feeling your way through the fresh produce, breads, meats and cheeses. Learn the chef’s kitchen secrets firsthand as you help prepare a traditional meal in a hands-on cooking lesson. And after a professional sommelier guides you through a tasting of fine Rhône wines, it’s time to eat… drink… and be very merry.

For much of the 14th century, the Roman Catholic popes ruled from Avignon. Take an insider’s look at the ten-towered Palais des Papes they built for themselves – more fortress than palace – or if you wish, explore lovely Avignon on your own. You'll have free time today to spend as you wish. A bicycle ride? A walk? A long afternoon drink in a café? Tonight is yours to explore and dine on your own in Avignon; our shuttle can take you back from town to the hotel.

Pont du Gard, Avignon & a grand farewell Location Information Description

A three-level, 2,000-year-old aqueduct spanning the River Gardon, the Pont du Gard stands as testimony to the Romans' amazing engineering skills and love of baths. Learn more about it as you walk the “pont” – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and visit its new museum.

After lunch on your own in Avignon and some more time to explore this history-rich town as you wish this afternoon, travel to nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape – one of the country's premier wine-growing regions – to celebrate the flavors of Provence with cocktails, canapés and local wine, followed by a spectacular dinner of Provençal specialties... a perfect finis to your Culturious Provence tours!

Au revoir, Provence… Location Information Description

Best of France Tour

Tour operator.

It's easy to see the world's sights. To stand in long lines, push through the crowds, and generally have the same standard-issue vacation as everyone else. But that's not good enough for us, and it's not good enough for you. We believe that travel should be easy. It should be fun. It should be worth your time and the price you paid. It should re-energize and transform. And above all else, it should be beyond the ordinary. Because how you see the world matters.

In 1882, Herman Tauck arrived in New York City from Germany in search of the American dream. His determination and values were passed on to his son, Arthur Tauck, who would realize that dream. With ingenuity and an innovative spirit, Arthur started Tauck Motor Tours, a travel company that would give birth to a new industry. The first tour, through the back roads of New England, was created by this 27-year-old in 1925. It embodied the same successful formula used by Tauck today: do the right thing. Craft a life-enriching travel experience; provide it at a single all-inclusive price; ensure there is great value for money; and rely on recommendations of satisfied customers to build a following and grow the business.

Two elements that did change over the next 90+ years – and three generations of Taucks – were the scope of destinations served and the variety of modes of travel used. Today Tauck delivers life-enriching travel experiences to every corner of the globe, incorporating small cruise ships, premium riverboats, trains, helicopters and more. What started as a New England motor coach tour company has truly evolved into an extraordinary global travel company. The fourth generation of Taucks is now involved in the company. While remarkable in any business, this seamless continuity across generations speaks to shared vision and values.

Throughout its history, the concept of “family” at Tauck has gone far beyond those sharing the surname to include hundreds of valued employees, and hundreds of thousands of loyal guests. The story of Tauck is the story of a unique American family company celebrating a passion for travel – a story that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Sightseeing Highlights

SMALL GROUP DEPARTURES averaging no more than 22 Tauck guests. A small group size means a more personal travel experience highlighted by stays at chic smaller hotels in fabulous locations

Amazing hands-on Provençal experiences from delectable wine tastings to epicurean discoveries, savory entrées al fresco, a luminous palette of warm colors that spark the imagination, the mysteries of Starry Night , the Provençal passion for food, art and wine... all part of what you'll experience with Tauck.

Food and art are passions in Southern France and key ingredients for the culturally curious. An idyllic walk down lanes that inspired Cézanne in Aix, contemporary art on the grounds of a classic Provençal château, an insider tour with a van Gogh art scholar in St. Rémy, a picnic in a lavender meadow, exploring the Roman ruins of Glanum, soft landscapes changing hues in the waning sun, and a farewell at a private, family-owned winery in Châteauneuf-du-Pape... and the palette of our Provence tours becomes richer still.

Year Round Offers

  • Special Savings for Single Travelers
  • Seasonal Price Savings for specific dates
  • Special Savings for Groups of 8, 10++

Tour begins: 3:00 PM , Grand Hôtel Roi René Aix-en-Provence Centre - MGallery,  Aix-en-Provence. A transfer is included from Marseille Provence Airport to Grand Hôtel Roi René Aix-en-Provence Centre - MGallery in Aix-en-Provence. As it has done for millions of wayfarers before you, the old "port" of Marseille welcomes you to the south of France. Your travels through Provence begin; to the locals, Aix-en-Provence is simply "Aix." Strolling its boulevards with a local guide, you're taking in the same views that inspired Cézanne… Gauguin… van Gogh… Zola… no doubt ready to create your own impressions of this charming old university town with the world. Aix's grandest boulevard, the Cours Mirabeau, dates back to the 17th century; lined with plane trees, elaborate fountains and opulent mansions, it invites a leisurely bike ride, a brisk walk, or perhaps a visit to one of the cafés. Join us tonight for cocktails and dinner at the hotel.

Follow the footsteps of post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne through his hometown, Aix-en-Provence, today. See the landscapes he painted, the fields where local residents became his subjects, the views of Mont Sainte-Victoire that so inspired him. On a visit to Caumont – Centre D'art, you'll feel like you stepped back to the 18th century, complete with formal gardens. View a film on Cezanne that pays tribute to the artist and his love of his birthplace and the region where he grew up. It offers a glimpse into Cezanne's private life, his relationship with his father, and his secret life in l'Estaque with Hortense Fiquet, with whom he had a son. Discover works by some of Europe's greatest living artists on a walk through the château's expanding sculpture gardens. The remainder of the day is free to explore Aix as you wish.

This morning, discover Luberon, part of France's "Golden Triangle" and indulge in a visual feast of fairy tale villages, meadows and moorlands that surround this magnificent region. Head off to Gordes late this morning for a stroll through the town's arcaded medieval lanes before stopping by a market to pick up the makings of a traditional picnic lunch – perhaps a baguette, fruits and meats, cheese, olives and, naturellement , wine… whatever tempts your palate! Rich with color, chalk and red ochre cliffs, cedar forests and river-hewn gorges surround. Enjoy your picnic lunch in a Provençal meadow, then continue to your hotel in Gordes, overlooking the lovely village and the valley beyond. Dine this evening at the hotel, which sports a restaurant by a Michelin Star chef.

Enjoy a morning hike to the medieval Abbaye de Sénanque; founded in the 12th century, it is still tended by a small community of Cistercian monks. Next, visit the historical province of Roussilon, where lunch precedes an easy hike through the quarries; the deep ochre used in the town's architecture harmoniously blends into the warmth of the natural surroundings. Return to your hotel in Gordes, where the evening is yours to spend as you wish.

Deep beneath the hills of Provence, the most powerful spring in France bursts forth at nearly 20,000 gallons per second to feed the Sorgue River, emerging in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, once the home of the Italian poet, Petrarch. Visit St-Rémy-de-Provence, home to the asylum of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, where legendary Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh went to heal and hide out... and where he created over 150 works, including Starry Night . After time to explore and enjoy lunch on your own in St-Rémy, you'll glimpse inside the artist's troubled mind as van Gogh scholar Mathilde Duvilliers shares insights on his complicated life, and reads from his letters, while you walk in his footsteps at the asylum and its grounds. The ancients roamed here too; explore the ruins of the Roman city of Glanum, one of the largest and oldest archaeological sites in France. Arrive late afternoon at Auberge de Cassagne & Spa in Le Pontet-Avignon for a three-night stay. Set inside its lovely gardens, the hotel includes a wonderful restaurant where you'll enjoy dinner tonight.

On market day in Avignon, partake in the process of bringing great Provençal food from the market to the plate. Join a chef on a buying trip to an Avignon market – smelling, tasting, and feeling your way through the fresh produce, breads, meats and cheeses. Learn the chef's kitchen secrets firsthand as you help prepare a traditional meal in a hands-on cooking lesson. And after a professional sommelier guides you through a tasting of fine Rhône wines, it's time to eat… drink… and be very merry. You'll have free time this afternoon to spend as you wish. A bicycle ride? A walk? A long afternoon drink in a café? Tonight is yours to explore and dine on your own in Avignon; our shuttle can take you back from town to the hotel.

A three-level, 2,000-year-old aqueduct spanning the River Gardon, the Pont du Gard stands as testimony to the Romans' amazing engineering skills and love of baths. Learn more about it as you walk the "pont" – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and visit its new museum. Enjoy lunch on your own in Avignon and then take some free time to explore this history-rich town as you wish. This evening, travel to nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape – one of the country's premier wine-growing regions – for a Tauck Exclusive at a private, family-owned winery. Celebrate the flavors of Provence with cocktails, canapés and local wine, followed by a spectacular dinner of Provençal specialties... a perfect finis to a marvelous Provençal journey!

Tour ends: Avignon. The warm, inviting colors… sun-kissed meadows… those amazing Provençal flavors… intangible sensory imagery that linger not only on the return to Marseille and on your flight home… but far beyond… A transfer is included from Auberge de Cassagne & Spa to Marseille Provence Airport; allow three hours for check-in... au revoir!

Twice it's Happened

During the pandemic my Huband and I planned a trip to Africa. Unfortunately, I was frightened and there were no airplanes flying anywhere, so we canceled. Consequently, the trip was canceled altogether. Tauck wouldn't give me back my down payment even then. They said it will be held for a dreamer's trip. Earlier last year, since I couldn't get my deposit back, we decided to take a trip this year. Unbelievably they made me pay another $1200 payment. I know insurance is important; my husband was going to get it this year. Unfortunately, we both can't make the trip due to illnesses. Again, I was told I would not be getting back my payments of $2400. They didn't care that we would have gone but for medical issues we could not. We are both 77 years old. I sent messages to two TV stations, and I hope they take the case. I've seen other travelers not getting their money back either. We should all get together and put in a complaint.

Pricy and Nothing Special

We have taken one TAUCK 8 day tour (Savannah/Hilton Head/Charleston) and based on that experience would not recommend them for the following reasons: 1. They are expensive. We paid $5,589 PP. If you booked this yourself, it’s only ~$3,165. This means you are paying almost twice as much for the same experience. 2. The experiences were “nothing special”. We could have booked any of them on the internet. 3. The food was mostly “OK” with one meal being superb and one meal being inedible. 4. We got the impression that our tour director was “phoning it in”. She really didn't seem like she wanted to be on the tour. 5. They also overcharge – we booked an extra day at the hotel and were charged $298.50 (the single person rate) times 2 (since there were two of us) for a total of $597. The published rate for our room was $383. I’d also consider another aspect of the tour: You are being “programmed” and in order to get the most out of the tour, you need to be up in the morning and stick with the group. If you’ve never watched the movie, “If it’s Tuesday, this must be Belgium”, please do so prior to booking. Sure it’s satire, but there’s a lot of truth there. There's not fault to Tauck for this, that's what they do, we just decided it's not our "style". If you do decide you’re a “tour person”, check out Roads Scholar tours. A similar tour from them would have been $3,099 PP and the tour leader, Ruth Miller, would have been fantastic (we had her for our Tauck bus tour in Charleston, she was fantastic, one of the highlights of the trip. ) Net-net, do your homework and make sure this type of travel is really “for you” and whatever you do, don't book extra days through Tauck.

Tauck is a First Rate Company

My wife and I recently took a trip to Italy, a 14-day Tauck Classic Italy. The trip was wonderful until my wife fell and could not continue on. Although we had issues with the travel insurance company, Tauck stepped up and agreed to reimburse us for the expenses we had because of some communication issues when we left. I will definitely be scheduling more trips with Tauck. They are a first-rate company who understands the value of dedicated customers.

Purpose of trip insurances .

Whenever a tour is cancelled for any reason and trip insurance was purchased that amount is used for that exact purpose ie. insurance . Most tour companies take the premium , however Tauck credits that total amount to another tour if booked within their time frame . We have taken many tours , Tauck has gone above and beyond their duties to us each tour . It is unfortunate some do not understsnd trip insurance . When purcasing auto insurance your premium is not refunded if you have no accidents .

After 16 trips with Tauck

After 16 trips with Tauck, this was my last. The overall trip was BORING, on and off the bus, packing/unpacking after 1 or 2 days in each hotel, dull sites. Their choice of hotels has deteriorated considerably. One of the "hotels" was less than 1 star. But the worst part is their customer service. Apparently they could care less about keeping customers. Maybe ignorant first-timers will keep them going for a while. Doubt it.

Seven months in advance, refuse to return deposit

Douro River cruise, excellent. Booked a summer cruise out of Nice 2023. Had to cancel seven months prior to the departure date. Had made a $3000 deposit that Tauck refused to return or apply as a future credit. Never will travel on them again

If you have any concerns while on a Tour …KEEP THEM TO YOURSELF🤫….otherwise they will tell the other Traveler’s to AVOID YOU!! THE QUALITY SINCE COVID HAS DROPPED FROM 5* TO 1/2* We will NEVER AGAIN use them.

First time Tuack Tour and Last

First time Tuack Tour, Essence of Japan. It will be my last. Spent more than 45k and they handled flight booking. They booked international layover outbound with 40 min window. Not surprisingly my bags, clothes and medicine didn't arrive for 30 hours. They acknowledged their fault in email but Guest Relations tone deaf. They offered small cash refund and future credit on next tour. Won't be a "next tour ". It was once a great brand but they have lost their feel for customer retention. If you use them, bookyour own travel and save money and aggravation.

Covid Risk on a Tauck Cruise of Greece

I took a Tauck cruise of Greece called Treasures of the Aegean. The cruise itself was great. All the passengers tested negative for Covid before boarding the ship. However, at the end of the cruise more than 10 percent if the passengers had Covid and had to quarantine. I had known of the risk of Covid, I would never have taken the tour.

Tauck is a disaster

Tauck is a disaster! Save your money and use another tour company. Went on very expensive Danube tour starting 10/1/23 from Budapest on the Danube. Cabin filled with sewer gas the whole trip. Asked for help three times and Tauck employees pretended they didn’t know. Never helped. Left review an Tauck said tough. Sorry sewer gas was so bad in your cabin it kept you awake at night. No help and no consideration. Avoid Tauck. If Tauck is brave enough to contact me they can check their internal reviews from 10/1/23 Danube trip starting in Budapest. However, Tauck cares not for their customers and are cowards. I only wish I could give them less than a 1 star review. My feeling are negative 5 stars or worse. Was on tour with another family that will verify sewer gas and no relief from Tauck. Very sad company. Happy to talk to any prospective future Tauck victims. Take my advice and avoid Tauck. Find another tour company.

Tauck tour …

Tauck does an excellent job organizing tours. But they are not the best for solo travelers. They will not tell you if other solos are going at least I couldn’t find out, and I was the only one alone on a recent trip. . Given the profile of the other travelers including some families that had to be attached at the hip every second, which made it uncomfortable for me (ie entitled young adult telling me where I could sit so they were all together) probably will not travel with them again unless they will disclose/have other solos - better to go alone and copy their itineraries!

Beware of the travel insurance that Tauck partners with from Aon. We bought this insurance specifically to cover a pre-trip positive Covid test. My wife tested positive 3 days before the trip. The insurance company asked her to get a PCR test which came back positive too. They are now denying the claim because she wasn't sick enough to see a doctor. Tauck now says they will not get involved. This insurance company is labeled as its partner. Terrible customer service. We will never again trust Tauck.

I have taken 3 tours with Tauck

I have taken 3 tours with Tauck. the first was to Provence France and it was wonderful on every level. the second was to northern France and again the best experience. The third was last month July 2022 Best of the Canadian Rockies. The itinerary was good the accommodation were good and the tour director was the worst. He was unorganized, defensive, and combative. He brought no value to the tour. If you are considering this tour I strongly suggest you avoid any tour run by a man named Pete. I made the best of the situation, however when you pay premium prices this is not acceptable and the tour company did not have any concern, which is also a red flag.

Tauck is amazing

I was on two Tauck tours last year: Jordan and Egypt and Rhine Oktoberfest cruise. Both tours were superb. Local guides were used at every stop. We were really pampered: luggage pick up at our room when we moved. On the river cruise, all tips and alcohol are included in the price. Both were truly first class trips.

BUYERS BEWARE of TAUCK

BUYERS BEWARE! On day 4 of our 2-week cruise Tauck canceled our riverboat cruise because of low waters in the Danube. All of us understood the problem, but we couldn't understand Tauck's response to it. The company literally left us "high and dry"! They gave us absolutely no support to transfer to other river or land cruises, help with transportation home, or any other kind of assistance. None of us could even get a callback! Why can passengers on the other cruise lines (Viking, Uniworld, etc.) switch to coach tours when the water is low and Tauck has no options at all? We paid a lot of money for this trip and it was a disaster! FYI: We did get a refund from Tauck for the remaining unused days of our trip, but that's it... no letter of apology, no extras of any kind. And... it cost us an additional $8500 to fly home early. SHAME ON TAUCK for treating us all so poorly!

I recently enjoyed a 10 day Tauck Tour…

I recently enjoyed a 10 day Tauck Tour of Tanzania and Zanzibar, Africa. The tour exceeded my wildest expectations. If you are interested in experiencing unparalleled and close up wild animals in their natural habitat this is the tour for you. While the daily safari drives are a bit grueling for my age (67) they are worth the bumpy drive (referred to as an African massage), not to mention the very comfortable accommodations every evening with the best possible views. Our tour guides were superb. They were knowledgeable and eagle eyed at seeing and then quickly driving to see animals doing everything animals due in the wild including hunting and killing prey, caring for their young, mating rituals and much more. We even had a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Our tour guide, Ivan, was a wealth of information on local customs and traditions. We visited a local tribe and were granted unprecedented access to their daily lives. A visit to the site and museum where Professor and Mary Leakey spent their lives uncovering the “cradle of civilization” where they discovered the bones of the earliest humanoids was an unexpected treat.

I was going to complain to their HQ

I was going to complain to their HQ, but could not find a direct route. However, having read the negative feedback from recent clients on the hugely expensive trip on the Grand New England tour, it looks like I got lucky! Having booked last autumn for next September, my health detriorated, and I needed to cancel. I understand the T&C regarding cancelation but did ask the Tauck might refund my deposit of £400, if they resold the spaces. Seeing that the 29 Sept 2023 tour is now sold out, I asked if they would repay as a sign of goodwill. NO WAY! came the reply. This is sharp practice as they get paid twice over. BTW my health seems to be improving, but I will give Tauck a miss on our next trip to New England.

Tauck River Cruise Update for 2025. What’s New?

SchlosshotelKronber. Photo by Tauck.

During 2025, Tauck will introduce a new 14-night “ Romantic Capitals: Prague to Paris ” river cruise itinerary. If you’re interested in an enticing new Tauck river cruise, this is a great one to consider.

Here’s how the journey will flow. Guests will start in Prague, the Czech Republic , with two nights at the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel . Next up is a nine-day, luxurious, pampering river cruise.

Boarding either the 130-passenger Savor or sister vessel Joy,  Tauck’s guests will sail from Regensburg, Germany, to Trier, Germany. This itinerary will travel the Rhine, Main and Moselle rivers as well as the Rhine-Main Canal.

Guests will then disembark and travel overland to Luxembourg. There, they’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of Luxembourg City.

Then they’ll board a train to Paris . The trip concludes in “The City of Light” with a two-night stay at the L’Hotel du Collectionneur, considered an Art Deco masterpiece.

(Shown in the photo above is Schlosshotel Kronberg where Tauck’s guests will enjoy a private reception and dinner. Photo by Tauck.)

Tauck River Cruise: New Itinerary Highlights

During this vacation, travelers will sail on a vessel accommodating just 130 guests, compared to the 150 or up to 190 passengers carried by other European river vessels of a similar size.

In addition, Tauck’s guests will enjoy enriching activities and experiences. For instance, here are a few:

  • Private evening ashore in Germany with a reception and dinner at Schlosshotel Kronberg.
  • Visit to t he legendary Nurburgring motorsports complex in Germany.
  • Scenic, private boating excursion on the Seine River.
  • Underground walking tour of historic Prague.

At press time, fares started at $9,790 per person, double occupancy, plus airfare. Talk with your personal travel planner about accommodations and timing that’s best for you to travel.

Tauck River Cruise: Esprit Redeployed

So, what else is new for Tauck on European rivers? In addition to the new itinerary outlined above, Tauck also said this week that it will redeploy its intimate, 98-passenger Esprit riverboat to France’s River Seine.

Esprit will sail two of Tauck's new itineraries on European rivers in 2024. Photo courtesy of Tauck.

This year, that vessel is operating on the Rhine and Danube rivers. “But Tauck believes that the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris will generate greater demand for vacations in France next year,” says Shelby Steudle , president, Pavlus Travel .

“So, the line will smartly double its capacity there,” she emphasizes. “We believe that’s a great move to help assure that loyal Tauck travelers as well as first-time Tauck guests will have more Seine River opportunities.”

In 2025, Esprit (along with Sapphire ) will operate all four of Tauck’s Seine River cruises. Here are links to those itineraries, ship features, accommodations details, pricing and other information.

  • “Rendezvous on the Seine”
