This was one of those times Danny always carried around in his head, where his dad would get into a crouch, like one of those TV dads coming home from work, and our his arms out, and Danny would run into them. Only it never seemed to happen that way. Narrator, Chapter 2.
This is an important introduction to the theme of absentee or divorced parents that is woven through the novel. Early on we realize that although Danny has come to terms with his father's shortcomings as a parent he dearly wishes for something more. He does not know how to create a physical closeness with Richie which results in their interactions being more like those of team-mates rather than parent and child, mainly because this is the realm of familiarity and comfort for Richie. This kind of relationship actually feels more awkward than natural to Danny who would far rather develop the traditional father/son dynamic he sees in movies. It also illustrates that he is missing that male role model in his life which is why he resorts to filling in most of the gaps in his knowledge about his father from Google.
Even at the age of twelve, Danny knew that Emma going through middle school and maybe even high school standing next to someone who looked like Tess Hewitt wasn't the most brilliant idea in the world. Narrator, Chapter 4
Throughout the novel the reader sees Danny and Will alternate between being kids who revel in being kids and men who are starting to notice girls but are not actually aware of themselves doing so. Emma is Tess's best friend but not as "anything" as Tess - Tess is smarter, prettier, nicer and does everything better than Emma, so constantly spending her time next to Tess is going to make Emma noticeable for all the things she isn't instead of all the things she is. Even Danny, who is not fully aware of why he knows this, recognizes this does not bode well for her dating future.
You were always a big movie guy, Rich. But life isn't always a movie. The little guy doesn't always win the day. Mr Ross, Chapter 7
This quote represents the moment in which Richie decides to form his own travel team and coach his own son to victory and also reveals the real reason Danny was left off the Vikings; Ross has harbor end a resentment of Richie for what he perceives as his fairy tale good fortune since their youth and is using Richie's son to get back at him for that. It is also interesting that this quote encapsulates the entire purpose of the novel which is to celebrate the victory of the underdog.
It's what you were always looking for from your parents, Danny had decided a long time ago, that they would show up with their good selves most of the time, in a good mood, not tired or pissed off about something at work. Or hungover. Just happy with you and the whole world. Narrator, Chapter 17.
Most children have a rosé-colored view of their parents, almost as though there are three types of people in the world; children, adults and parents. Children rarely have any reason to see their patents as people with changing and complicated emotions but rather simplified emotions - angry or not angry, grouchy or good-humoured. Danny has seen his parents in moments of extreme anger at each other, in desolation and abandonment, hungover and in need of another drink. His view of parents is sadly worldly for a twelve year old and also shows that he has already taken on some parenting of his parents in that he wants to influence their moods and make them feel better.
Danny looked at his dad and they both shook their heads sadly, that one person could be this ignorant about something as important as an official leather ball. Narrator, Chapter 19.
Basketball and sports are a bonding tool for Richie and Danny and ironically also bonds them with Danny's mother as well as her not understanding the "guy code" that places importance on sports is something they can tease her about gently. Although Danny wishes he and his dad were more parent and child than team mates it is the basketball that actually acts as a springboard to the next stage in their relationship.

Did the Warriors win the championship in the end and if they did who did they beat
The boys realize that if Mr Ross extending an olive branch to Richie is possible, then anything is possible, and in true underdog fashion they win the game. The Warriors beat Middletown.
What had Jeff Ross done after the tryouts?
Jeff Ross called Danny personally to tell him that he'd made the team. Danny's parents were old friends of his.
Who is a static character?
I might consider Ali Walker. She is still strong at the end of the book.

95 most inspirational travel quotes ever penned
Our favourite inspirational travel quotes have encouraged us to travel with abandon over the years. Perhaps they will do the same for you…
For us, there is no such thing as luxury travel; travel is, by default, a luxury. It is a privilege provided by the country of our birth, a privilege that many are not as fortunate to enjoy.
Sometimes, we have to pinch ourselves at just how ridiculous our lives have become: an ex-teacher and jobbing writer travelling the world for a living. It is absurd, it is astonishing, it is luxury.
When I first went travelling at 21 years old, my father gave me this quote scrawled on a piece of card.
It infused me with wanderlust. It encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone, make the most of my time, see the world and enjoy the freedom that comes with being on the road. It remains one of the most inspirational travel quotes I’ve read (even if Twain did not actually say it).
Today, 20 years and almost 100 countries later, it’s still in my wallet. Despite its tattered and dishevelled appearance, it’s every bit as important to me now as it was then.
With that in mind, we’ve collated our most beloved inspirational travel quotes to encourage readers to “explore, dream and discover” for themselves.

“One good passer changes everything.”
Basketball is about teamwork and about having fun. Danny learns this throughout the novel, finding that being valuable to a team doesn’t necessarily mean scoring all the points. One of his greatest skills as a player is the fact that he can pass well, and he comes to be more and more confident in his abilities by the end of the book.
“So, cool, he’d set aside this place in his heart for his dad and what his dad could give him. Wanting more but not expecting more, happy when his dad would show up, even unexpected, the way he did tonight, sad when he left.”
Danny learns so much about his dad over the course of the novel. At the start, they have a strained relationship in which his dad is only present periodically in his life. He wants nothing more than to feel his family reunited, and while Ali and Richie do not explicitly get back together by the end of the novel, both Ali and Danny have better relationships with Richie.
“Danny was always struck first by how tall somebody was, was always playing off this adult’s height against somebody else’s. He did the same with kids, like he was comparison shopping, never really knowing how tall other kids were in feet and inches, even if he knew exactly what he was on a daily basis, exactly fifty-five inches—no sneakers—by his last check in the door frame of his room.”
Danny is constantly thinking about others’ height at the beginning of the novel, noticing how much taller others are than him. At first, he allows this to hurt his confidence, not sure that he can beat teams filled with larger players. He eventually lets himself accept the fact that his height doesn’t matter.

And we end this article with this quote from Charles M. Schulz because the friendships we make and the adventures we take in life (not only travel related) are best experienced with the people we love beside us!

101 of the Best Travel Quotes to Inspire Amazing Adventures
I’ve put together 101 of the best travel quotes as a reminder, motivation, and remembrance for the reasons why we travel.
I’m not just talking about the sightseeing and beach vacations. Travel is about the journey as much as the beautiful destination.
We learn about the world by experiencing new cultures and ways of living, in turn learning about ourselves.
I’ve been traveling the world for a few years – Will has been traveling for over 9 years – and the rest of the Broke Backpacker crew has put quite a dent in their passports too. I think these awesome quotes about traveling highlight some of the magnificent journeys and lessons we’ve experienced along the way.
Why? Because Travel quotes provide inspiration and capture truths about travel, adventure, and life.
Just like travel, words have the power to open our minds to completely new perspectives, which is why I hope this collection of quotes about travel and powerful words will inspire you to get out there and experience some adventurous travel yourself.
101 Best Travel Quotes
Some last words….
From funny travel quotes to inspiring words from legends past and present, here are the 101 best:
1. Travel makes you realize that no matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn.” – Nyssa P. Chopra, The Cultureur

2. We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – Anonymous
This is one of my favorite quotes about traveling. A lot of people think that one travels to escape life, or that long-term travelers are running away from reality. The way I see it – sure – maybe vacations are a quick escape from the real world, but traveling is a way to embrace life’s grandest adventures. Traveling is a way for life not to escape us.
3. “Travel doesn’t become adventure until you leave yourself behind.” – Marty Rubin

4. “To the tourist, travel is a means to an end; to the traveler, it’s an end in itself.” – Marty Rubin
5. “to live is to travel, on a voyage more epic than the odysseys of myth – not from place to place, but through the poignant strangeness of time.” – t.l rese.
6. “Travel often; Getting lost will help you find yourself.” – Holstee Manifesto
Some of my best travel experiences were not necessarily butterflies and rainbows. Sometimes they were uncomfortable and painful. Sometimes I have quite literally gotten lost, but in the end, these experiences have helped me find myself.
I think that is what traveling is often about: finding – or at least rediscovering – aspects of yourself.
7. “Travel has a way of stretching the mind. The stretch comes not from travel’s immediate rewards, the inevitable myriad new sights, smells and sounds, but with experiencing firsthand how others do differently what we believed to be the right and only way.” – Ralph Crawshaw
8. “a man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it.” – george a. moore, 9. “sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.” – drake.
This is one of the most important travel quotes. Doesn’t matter how long you’re traveling for, you’ll see new cultures, open your mind and change your way of thinking – even if it’s just a little bit. Traveling shows us sides of the world but also about yourself that you’ve never seen before. Having a different view on things helped a lot of people when it comes to making hard decisions.
10. “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture are like a tree without roots.” – Marcus Garvey
11. Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comforts of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things. -air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky. -all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” – Cesare Pavese
I love this traveling the world quote from Cesare Pavese. Having been on the road for the last few years, he nailed my experience spot on. Nothing is certain – except air, sleep, the sea, the sky – but that is what traveling is about: embracing the unknown and trusting the process. The way I see it, the only thing for certain is what is happening in the now.
12. “Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.” – Jawaharlal Nehru
13. “culture is the arts elevated to a set of beliefs.” – thomas wolfe, 14. “traveling — it gives you home in a thousand strange places, then leaves you a stranger in your own land.” – ibn battuta.
This is one of the most beautiful travel quotes. Meeting so many new people, making new friends and even finding a second family, has to be one of the best aspects of traveling. Having traveled quite a bit, I can say that having multiple homes is definitely an amazing feeling, although it can also create some distance between you and your original home.
15. “Culture is a way of coping with the world by defining it in detail.” – Malcolm Bradbury
16. “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”- Ibn Battuta
Probably one of the best travel quotes I’ve heard – the play on words, the sincerity, and the capture of what it means to travel. Traveling will undoubtedly leave you speechless, surprised, and lost for words, but those words will be found, and you will have epic stories to tell.
18. “To travel is to take a journey into yourself.” – Danny Kaye
19. “every journey is personal. every journey is spiritual. you can’t compare them, can’t replace, can’t repeat. you can bring back the memories but they only bring tears to your eyes.” – diana ambarsari, 20. “the perfect journey is never finished, the goal is always just across the next river, round the shoulder of the next mountain. there is always one more track to follow, one more mirage to explore.” – rosita forbes, 21. “travel can also be the spirit of adventure somewhat tamed, for those who desire to do something they are a bit afraid of.” – ella maillart.
22. “Remember that happiness is a way of travel – not a destination.” – Roy M. Goodman
I think this is one of my favorite quotes about travel. Having been to 30 or so countries, and plenty of destinations among them, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that happiness does not come from beautiful destinations any more than the concept that money can buy happiness…
It’s easy to assume that if money can’t buy happiness, surely experiences can, but you can be in the most beautiful place on earth having some crazy experience, and not be happy. We tend to always be in search of the next big thing – the most beautiful beach or bigger mountain – without realizing that it is the journey there that matters, not the destination.
Happiness is hard to define of course, but I think happiness lies in your outlook and present state of mind. To be happy is to be in the present moment, no matter what you own or where you are.
Wanna know how to pack like a pro? Well for a start you need the right gear….
These are packing cubes for the globetrotters and compression sacks for the real adventurers – these babies are a traveller’s best kept secret. They organise yo’ packing and minimise volume too so you can pack MORE.
Or, y’know… you can stick to just chucking it all in your backpack…
23. “What gives value to travel is fear. It breaks down a kind of inner structure we all have.” – Elizabeth Benedict
24. “we must go beyond textbooks, go out into the bypaths and untrodden depths of the wilderness and travel and explore and tell the world the glories of our journey.” – john hope franklin, 25. “though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not.” – ralph waldo emerson.
Walking on the globe with your head down will never open up all views and beautiful things to see. In order to enjoy traveling, you have to keep your mind and heart open, accept different cultures and traditions and simply try to adapt. Keep a positive mindset and you’ll see the beauty of the world.
26. “Real traveling is not about visiting places but about ‘re-visiting’ our inner-self.” – Sorrab Singha
27. “Travel not to find yourself, but to remember who you’ve been all along.” – Unknown
Both of these travel quotes (#26 and #27) encapsulate that sometimes we travel to learn more about ourselves. A large aspect of traveling is, of course, visiting places, but sometimes you end up visiting parts of yourself too.
28. “Travelling expands the mind rarely.” – Hans Christian Andersen
29. “traveling outgrows its motives. it soon proves sufficient in itself. you think you are making a trip, but soon it is making you – or unmaking you.” – nicolas bouvier, 30. it is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.” – ursula k. le guin, 31. “the best journeys are the ones that answer questions that at the outset you never even thought to ask.” – rick ridgeway.
32. “You thought too hard. Same with travel. You can’t work too much at it, or it feels like work. You have to surrender yourself to the chaos. To the accidents.” – Gayle Forman
This is one of my favorite travel quotes! It reminds me of something I read in the book Shantaram , about an ex-convict on the run and his adventures in India. In the book, he was given similar advice: to surrender to India and accept his experience for what it was.
You have to surrender to the chaos and enjoy/endure the experiences as they come. While this is applicable to many aspects of life, it is definitely applicable to travel. You can’t try to force itineraries and plans or work hard to fulfill some high expectations in your mind. Doing so will only tire and disappoint you.
Stash your cash safely with this money belt. It will keep your valuables safely concealed, no matter where you go.
It looks exactly like a normal belt except for a SECRET interior pocket perfectly designed to hide a wad of cash, a passport photocopy or anything else you may wish to hide. Never get caught with your pants down again! (Unless you want to…)
33. “Traveling is like flirting with life. It’s like saying, ‘I would stay and love you, but I have to go; this is my station.” – Lisa St. Aubin de Teran
34. “travel has a way of making the world a much smaller place.” – janna graber, 35. “life is a journey that must be traveled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations.” – oliver goldsmith, 36. “focus on the journey, not the destination. joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” – greg anderson.
37. “Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection.” – Lawrence Durrell
I can relate to this quote about travel quite well actually. The longer and more that I travel, the more I find myself self-analyzing and observing my own thought and emotional processes.
Traveling has a funny way of throwing you out into the world with the intention of discovering more about everything around you, only to realize you will discover far more about yourself. It is why traveling can be the most rewarding form of introspection.
38. “You develop a sympathy for all human beings when you travel a lot.” – Shakuntala Devi
39. “once you have traveled, the voyage never ends but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. the mind can never break off from the journey.” – pat conroy, 40. “travel and change of place impart new vigour to the mind.” – seneca, 41. “a man practices the art of adventure when he breaks the chain of routine and renews his life through reading new books, traveling to new places, making new friends, taking up new hobbies and adopting new viewpoints.” – wilfred peterson.
42. “It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end.” – Ernest Hemingway
I can relate to these words quite a bit as I try to find the balance between preparing and planning for the future, reaching goals, and just enjoying the ride and staying present in the moment.
Having goals and an endpoint in sight is good; however, I don’t think it will be as satisfying if you don’t enjoy the moments that take you there. If you only focus on the destination you’ll miss everything that matters – the journey along the way.
43. “All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveller is unaware.” – Martin Buber
44. “life is a magical journey, so travel endlessly to unfold its profound and heart touching beauty.” – debasish mridha, 45. “good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter.”- izaak walton.
Whether it’s long, annoying bus trips, a shabby hostel or simply somewhere you don’t necessarily feel comfortable, it’s always better to have great company by your side. Going through the rough times together makes the whole experience more endurable.
46. “The pleasure we derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset with which we travel than on the destination we travel to.” – Alain de Botton
47. “With age, comes wisdom. With travel, comes understanding.” – Sandra Lake
I love this quote about traveling. With age, comes wisdom. Wisdom isn’t something you can read about, it is something you learn through experience. The same goes for travel. You can read and hear about places and people that are different than you, but sometimes it takes experiencing those places and meeting those people for yourself to truly understand them.
We’ve tested countless backpacks over the years, but there’s one that has always been the best and remains the best buy for adventurers: the broke backpacker-approved Osprey Aether and Ariel series.

48. “Travel teaches toleration.” – Benjamin Disraeli
49. “travel opens your mind as few other things do. it is its own form of hypnotism, and i am forever under its spell.” – libya bray, 50. “half of the fun of travel is the aesthetic of lostness.” – ray bradbury, 51. “travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education; in the elder, a part of the experience.” – francis bacon.
52. “Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” – Anthony Bourdain
Anthony Bourdain will always be remembered for his adventurous spirit and ability to share some of the most remote and fascinating corners of this planet with the rest of the world. His words ring true. Travel is not pretty, and it’s definitely not always comfortable.
Sometimes you’ll deal with awful buses and missed flights, sleep in strange places, be confronted with challenging and stressful situations, or encounter experiences that break your heart. But that’s okay because the journey will make you stronger, and ultimately make you a better person.
53. “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustav Flaubert
54. “it is always sad to leave a place to which one knows one will never return. such are the melancholies du voyage: perhaps they are one of the most rewarding things about traveling.” – gustave flaubert, 55. “all travel has its advantages. if the passenger visits better countries, he may learn to improve his own. and if fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy it.” – samuel johnson, 56. “uncertainty and anticipation are the joys of travel.” – ken hundert.
57. “Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” – Dalai Lama
58. “investment in travel is an investment in yourself.” – matthew karsten.
Rather than investing in the latest technology, do yourself the favor and take yourself on a little trip. Clear your mind, learn new things and experience different cultures and people. You won’t regret it!
59. “Traveling carries with it the curse of being at home everywhere and yet nowhere, for wherever one is, some part of oneself remains on another continent.” – Margot Fonteyn

Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow is my favourite. It’s so true
I love travel quotes. They are so inspirational. Since I’m a solo traveller, #35 really resonates with me.
This is a hard one! Which would my favorite be…? I’m between my compatriot Rosalia de Castro and the unknown “Live your life by a compass, not a clock”. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, quote number one hit differently! Pieces of my heart have been left in nearly every place I’ve ever visited, any place I’ve ever made a memory with new or old friends.
“I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.” I think that pretty much sums up why I’m driven to travel 😀 Great list!
Thanks for sharing these quotes! “Somewhere on your journey, don’t forget to turn around and enjoy the view.” is one that resonates with me most strongly. It is such an important reminder that sometimes when we’re traveling we need to put down our tour book and busy agenda and just stop to appreciate the new and exciting surroundings around us. Thanks for the reminder!
Absolutely! It’s easy to get swept up in all the “must sees” instead of what the destination is trying to show us!
Traveling is an adventure that comes with a breathtaking view is my favorite. Cant wait to travel again. Hope this pandemic ends soon
I completely love the first quote you mentioned!! I can see why you got it tattooed. After reading them all, the other one which stands out to me the most is the one about us being the foreigners!
So many beautiful quotes! I can’t wait to be able to travel again
Oh I just loved these quotes. Thanks for the great post!! I miss traveling so much!
Same here! Glad you enjoy them!
I love these! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
This is so inspirational! Love it!
Love these inspirational travel quotes! My favourite is number 11. It’s so true that a destination stays with you long after you leave it whether it’s a smell, a dish etc.
So many beautiful quotes! Love the positivity and inspiration during this crazy time we are in 🙂
So many great quotes, thanks for sharing. It reminds me of travel days.
This is a fantastic list of inspiring travel quotes! I’ve heard of most of them but also there a few that are new to me, so I really appreciate this! This one is one of my all time favorites –“Travel is not a reward for working, it’s education for living” – Anthony Bourdain
Thanks for including that one on this ultimate list!
Haha that’s my favorite reminder that work is just work. – Which (at least in America) is often forgotten.

25 of the best travel quotes with friends
By: Author Sylvia
Posted on Last updated: May 11, 2022
Are you looking for the best travel quotes with friends? You came to the right place.
For me, traveling is not laying on the beach sipping cocktails. Although that can sometimes be lots of fun and relaxing too.
For me traveling is all about seeking new adventures and making travel memories. And these adventures become even more fun when you can share them with a good friend.
That’s why I wanted to share this list with 25 of the best travel quotes with friends.
So they can inspire you to travel more and share adventures and memories with a good friend.
Let’s be honest.
A journey becomes even more beautiful when you can share it.
There is a really good chance that this post contains affiliate links. If you click one of them, we may receive a small commission (for which we are deeply grateful) at no extra cost to you.
1.“Life was meant for great adventures and close friends.”
We start this list with one of my favorite travel with friends quotes because lets be honest, what do you need more in life than a good friend and a great adventure?
Our adventures brought us already to all 7 continents. One of the most memorable adventures we experienced was our cruise to Antarctica. This is a continent that cannot be compared with anything else.
But we also have great memories of our travels to Japan , Korea , and Borneo.
Recently we discovered the Azores . At this moment we haven’t yet planned our next trip which is quite strange for us.
A complete guide to the Azores islands.
Where is your next adventure taking you?
2. “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” – Tim Cahill
Although we’re not keen on organized tours or any other form of mass tourism, except the occasional cruise to spoil ourselves, we are no hermits.
We love to socialize and we always have a great time when we meet locals or other travelers during our trips.
With social networks like Facebook, it’s easier than ever to stay in touch after your trip.
The locals were very sociable in the Azores but in bigger cities, it is often not as easy to make a connection.
That’s why we love websites like HiHiGuide where you arrange private tours with locals in major cities around the world.
Such tours are really great to learn more about the city, the culture of the country and the habits of the people.
3. “I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.” – Mark Twain
This is so true.
While traveling together you learn to know someone’s flaws.
Spending 24 hours with someone can be quite challenging at times but it will also create memories that last for a lifetime.
4. “There is a whole world out there. Pack your backpack, your best friend, and go.”
Although we don’t travel with a backpack anymore I definitely agree with this travel quote.
Impulsive decisions are not always good but they can create really memorable vacations.
I still remember how we changed plans last-minute on a friend’s trip. Initially, we wanted to stay close to home but because the weather was so bad we packed some clothes, jumped in the car and drove for several hours until we found some sun.
We didn’t know where we were going but we had the best time.
The world is so big and there are so many places to discover that we’re always looking forward to our next trip.
It seems like our bucket list is only getting longer…
5. “A good friend listens to your adventures. Your best friend makes them with you.”
This is one of my favorite best friend quotes. Nothing is better for friendship than making shared memories.
It doesn’t necessarily need to be a long vacation. You can just take your best friend on a city trip. It will create a lifelong bond and years later you will still exchange great memories of your adventures together.
Which is the last adventure that you experienced and with whom?
6. “Friends that travel together, stay together.”
I do not fully agree with this traveling with this enjoying with friends quote.
If you do not have the same idea about a vacation, it can sometimes be very disappointing to go on a trip with a friend.
Even to such an extent that this can put pressure on your friendship afterward.
So when you plan to go on a trip with friends, make good arrangements in advance about what you expect from the trip.
Good agreements make good friends and it will avoid that you or your friend will be disappointed and the dream journey turns into a nightmare.
7. “Sharing adventures means enjoying them 100% more.”
Everything is more fun in life if you can share it.
This is even psychologically proven. You’re more emotionally touched by the things you experience when a friend is going through the same experience.
All humans love to share their experiences.
Ideally, with a friend who is traveling with you but it also explains why we love to share so many pictures of our trips on Instagram and Facebook.
8. “Sometimes all you need is a great friend and thirst for adventure.”
We certainly have thirst for adventure…
Kris and I dream about seeing polar bears in the wild, we have plans for an epic road trip through Australia and New Zealand, we still haven’t seen the northern lights and although we already spend a night in the desert we wonder how it would be to sleep under a starry sky instead of a tent …

I can go on for hours.
What adventures are still on your bucket list and more importantly with whom do you want to experience them?
9. “There is an unspoken bond you create with the friends you travel with.” – Kristen Sarah
When traveling together you make collective memories that are definitely creating a special bond.
I already had some amazing vacations with friends and I can for sure testify that traveling with friends is much more fun than traveling solo.
I tend to enjoy the places I visit and the things I do much more when I can share them with my friends.
Just think about some amazing experiences you had in the past. There’s a big chance that this was a moment that some of your closest companions were at your side.
Being 24/7 with each other can be challenging at times but it will also bring you closer together.
10. “You can pack for every occasion, but a good friend will always be the best thing you could bring!”
This is a perfect friendship travel quote to write on a small card and give to your best friend as a sign of your friendship.
11. “True friends never apart maybe in distance never in heart.” – Helen Keller
I have a few friends that I don’t see that often, but when we see each other we always have the best time and it feels like we saw each other just last week.
12. “If you want to go fast go alone. If you want to go far go together.”
This is supposed to be an African proverb but it’s not sure in what context it was originally used.
Today it is often used in a business context referring to successful companies that are the result of true teamwork.
It does apply to travel as well.
I don’t mind traveling solo if it’s just for a few days and my itinerary is jam-packed for each and every minute.
I’m however reluctant to leave on a long trip without any friends.
I think loneliness would start to creep in really fast.
13. “When traveling life’s journey, it’s good to have a friend’s hand to hold on to.”
Life is not always perfect, inevitable you will encounter some bumps in the roads.
It’s good to have a friend by your side.
Not only for the setbacks but also during the good times.
True friends share your successes and are also there when things don’t go so well.
Good friends are priceless and must be cherished.
14. “Only the people you don’t know well enough seem normal. Every person you know well enough is odd, weird, and different. This is called friendship!”
I just laughed when I read this quote and at the same time asked myself whether my best friends would think so too.
Maybe I should ask them or maybe I rather don’t know. 😀
The question is whether they would dare to answer this honestly but I think that true friends should be able, to tell the truth and tell each other just how crazy they think you’re. 😀
15. “There are no strangers in this world, only friends I haven’t met yet.”
This is a great attitude that I absolutely agree with and try to apply daily.
If you approach strangers in this way and you set negative prejudices aside you will often be positively surprised.
The most inspirational travel proverbs.
16. “We are all travelers in the wilderness of the world & the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
This is so true. The world is such an intriguing and complex environment. When we are young we have our parents to guide us but then there comes a point when we’re on our own.
Even though everybody wants to be independent there’re always moments when you need to rely on somebody else. Sometimes we are just looking for some good advice, at other times we need some help.
This is especially true when you’re abroad in a country you don’t know with a language you don’t speak.
We traveled independently through China and we must agree that we underestimated how challenging this would be. We often were completely helpless. There were no English-speaking ticket offices in the train stations and to our surprise we didn’t meet that many people who spoke English during our trip.
But those people who spoke English really did anything they possibly could to help us. They never took advantage of us, they never asked anything in return.
They just seemed happy to help us.
They acted as an honest friend and that’s something I will never forget about our trip.
17. “The more I traveled, the more I realized fear makes strangers of people who should be friends.” – Shirley MacLaine
If there’s one thing that I learned from my trips it is that most people are helpful and will be happy to help if they can. This is how we are born.
Unfortunately, some people make abuse of this and we become cautious. When a stranger asks us for help we sometimes tend to make something of it. It’s a pity that our helpful attitude is challenged by the abuse of a few.
If we could set our fear aside we would be able to make more friends.
18. “Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter.” – Izaak Walton
As they say, time flies when you are having fun.
19. “Life is about doing things that don’t suck with people who don’t suck.”
Wouldn’t it be fun if all days were like this?
This is a little too good to be true but the proverb is absolutely true. We should make the best of each and every other day.
That means that we should spend our time on things that make us happy and that we should surround ourselves with people that make us better.
Or like they say in another proverb: “Life is too short to be anything but happy!”.
20. “Everyone needs this friend that calls and says, “Get dressed, we’re going on an adventure.”
Sometimes you just need that little push.
Although I’m always looking forward to a new adventure I notice how I sometimes postpone the booking.
And the more I postpone it the bigger the resistance becomes to finally take the step.
That’s why I’m so happy with my friends who are always ready to join me on my next adventures.
Afterward, I always wonder why I was so reluctant at first because it always turned out to be so much fun. And it is of course always so much more fun with your friends around.
How about you? Do you prefer to stay at home or are you the person that calls and says get dressed we”re going on an adventure?
21. “Travel is better with friends.”
This is certainly true, or at least 99% of the cases. I personally only had great experiences during the trips with my friends and so does my husband.
But everybody knows some horror stories about friendships or relationships being destroyed during holidays.
Don’t let this scare you. As long as you make good arrangements in advance you will have the best time of your life.
Do you know such a horror story?
22. “As with any journey, whom you travel with is more important than the destination.”
The experience is indeed largely made by the person with whom you share it.
The destination can be extremely beautiful but the experience can be completely ruined if you’re there in bad company.
And this proverb also has a second meaning.
Traveling is not only about checking things off the bucket list.
It’s also about enjoying the moments and sharing them with those you love.
23. “Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” – Maya Angelou
This traveling with friends quote reminds me of a lot of a story we experienced when we were traveling through Vietnam a few years ago.
We were hiking and accompanied by a local tribe that didn’t speak English.
Suddenly one of our fellow hikers slipped out in the mud and she desperately tried not to fall. It was really funny to see how she alternately was gliding forward and backward.

Once she had regained her balance everybody started laughing including the ladies of the local tribe.
This really shows how all people are the same and even when we come from completely different backgrounds, and we don’t speak the same language, we still have more in common than we think.
This event even broke the ice.
Before this happened we had no contact with the local tribe but when we continued onward we were helping each other to cross the muddy parts and we tried to do some basic conversation.
24. “You and me, we are more than friends. We are like a small travel gang!”
This is one of the most beautiful travel with friends captions that I found and it is absolutely true.
Once you’ve gone on a vacation with a friend and you have that special bond you really form a small travel gang.
Who’s in your travel gang?
25. “I get a friend to travel with me… I need somebody to bring me back to who I am. It’s hard to be alone.” – Leonardo DiCaprio
I completely understand Leonardo.
Humans are social beings and while some need more social contact than others we all love to be among other people.
Spending time with friends will help relax those with stressful lives.
I had a great time putting together this list with travel memories quotes. It reminded me again that every once in a while I need to spend time with my friends, preferably in an exotic vacation spot.
I also decided that I will use one of these quotes every once in a while to show them how much I appreciate our friendship.
I hope that these quotes will help you to do the same.
