I have been working with Becky for my destination wedding in June 2014 and she has blown me out of the water with her communication, knowledge,skill and friendliness. She has fast return with emails and if she had something come up, she would call and let me know. She has gone way past my expectations. It has taken me 2 prior agents till I found what I was looking for. I am very pleased with her and her work. I'd highly recommend her to friends and family.

If I could give zero stars I would. By far the worst travel agency I have ever used, especially Michelle Llewellyn. We were forced to use her thru a trip to Cancun in 2023 via a school senior trip. The rude attitude of Michelle thru the booking process was unnecessary and unprofessional. Upon arrival to the hotel it was complete chaos. After spending 6 hours trying to check in I was done...and where was the agent or agency - nowhere to be found. No answers to phone calls, text messages or emails. And not only that I literally NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. Not to check and see "Hey did you get checked in, etc." - for all they know I could still be sitting there a year later. If any other organization told me I had to use Michelle or Altair I would not go on the trip. They took the money and ran, awful agency.

I do not usually use a travel agent, but I was forced to use this agent as my university either required me to pay up front for some european travel or use their agent. This is a terrible travel agency. When I was told to use them, it was with the admonition to "call on the phone, they are not too good with email", no kidding. Very poor communication, emails not answered for 5-6 days, lots of confusion and difficulty with the internet. In the end, I am sure it cost the university more to use this agency than not and it took three personal visits to their offices to get my flights booked. Even at that I did the bulk of the research on the flights I needed.

I was forced to use Altair by Credit Union Conferences, an agency that conducts training aboard cruise ships. I have booked 4 cruises through them. Jill Donati has been my agent. Jill is very nice and pleasant over the phone, and has provided excellent service on our recent cruise.

We used Altair travel for our honeymoon and took our wedding party with us. A total of 12 people ... I do not think everyone booked with them but for sure 8 of us did. We were told that we would get the Honeymoon/Anniversary package as we stated multiple times we wanted to book another trip in a year. What should have been a savings of 20% - a value of almost $700.00 - that's a significant amount of money. What we got was a honeymoon/anniversary package at the resort that said "fresh fruit and wine daily". What that consisted of was 3 blueberries and 2 strawberries which were not put there daily. We stayed at Playa Mujeres - the same room service plates were there the whole week, Our coffee pot didn't work, there was drink glasses left at the swim up pool the entire week. The maid service was sup-par at best. We passed on our way to our room a half eaten burger that sat in the same spot for 3 days. I emailed the marketing director - got no response. Emailed the gentlemen that handled our initial booking ... he said that we were booked for a different package. So basically we lost out on roughly $700.00. I would not recommend them and the other folks in our party said that they would NOT deal with Altair again.

I have used Altair Travel and Travel Agent Lori Coleman for several trips and have been thrilled with the quality service, travel experience and value. If you have an opportunity to travel contact Altair (ask for Lori) and have a trip to remember.

I have used this travel agency numerous times, most recently for the annual St. Louis Cardinal Cruise on the the Holland America cruise line. They are very easy to book with, specifically Jill and Sherry. They handle every last part of booking a vacation, and hand over a folder with all the details. Makes it easy to keep track of everything. The cruise itself is a blast, including multiple cocktail parties, autograph parties, etc. All included in the price of the cruise! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a travel agent!

It is usually not a good sign when your travel agent doesn't know the place you want to go...which was named ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES IN THE WORLD of 2013! It is further freighting when they don't know how to use google. Seriously, it has been almost 3 weeks since we had our first meeting, they were supposed to put some things together and get back to us, needles to say, crickets. Steer clear and find a different agency. I am not leaving the details of my European honeymoon up to a person that can't google. PS the place looks like it is stuck in the '70s. Surprised they didn't try to talk us into a Carnival cruise.

In Memoriam: Pat Blassie, the Founder of St. Louis’ Altair Travel

Pat Blassie, the longtime president and founder of a St. Louis powerhouse travel agency, Altair Travel, passed away over this past weekend. She was 81 years old.

Blassie was born and spent her life in St. Louis. It was there that she founded Altair Travel and Cruises, a business she ran as president and owner for more than four decades.

Blassie built the business into one of St. Louis’, and the Midwest’s, powerhouse agencies—it now employs more than 50 travel specialists and includes Haylye Lux, her granddaughter, and Angie Markway, her daughter, who both now work at the agency.

Blassie was known not just for her professional reputation, but also for being a valuable member of the St. Louis community. The Brentwood Spirit, a local publication that covers Brentwood, Mo., wrote about Blassie’s career in a piece from 2013, describing how she got into the business after retiring from the insurance industry, a move she made to raise her new daughter. She would jump into travel a few years later, entering the industry without any experience and building the reputation and legacy that she leaves today. This week Markway told the McGraw Show, a local radio show in the St. Louis area on 550 KTRS which Blassie was a frequent guest on, that “I am lucky to be able to have been her daughter, but I am also lucky to be able to work with her the last 15 years.”

“What she taught me, what she taught Haylye, is priceless,” she said. “The way she sees the good in people, the way she sees the good in the world. I think that’s what made her so successful. She loved traveling. She loved going to new places, traveling with new people, getting to know those people and getting to know what they were all about.”

Tricia Wolf, the vice president of field sales at Oceania Cruises and a Missouri native, knew Blassie for 20 years. She told TMR that Altair was one of the first travel agencies she called on and “she welcomed me and Oceania Cruises into her office.”

“We have traveled together several times throughout the last 20 years. We actually saw each other more around the world than we did in her office. Pat has always been an advocate for traveling and learning new things. She was always willing to try something new no matter what the request was,” she said.

“Whether we were discussing business in her office or traveling the world or having dinner at her favorite restaurant down the street, she brought comfort to all who knew her,” Wolf added. “She was always true to herself and a great friend to many. We will miss her dearly and all the support she provided her team, business partners, and her family and friends.”

Nancy Bennett, the senior vice president of global sales at TRAVELSAVERS, told TMR that “Pat was truly an icon in our industry and a strong role model for women in travel. Her passion and dedication will be sorely missed by many as she leaves an indelible mark on the travel industry that will be remembered always.”

Clint Moebes, another Missouri native and executive at CALM Cruise and Travel, told TMR that “Pat Blassie was a wonderful travel advisor, businesswoman, and colleague, admired and loved by so many, especially in the St. Louis area.”

“Her integrity and respect for her colleagues, clients, and friends was unsurpassed,” he added. “But most importantly, Pat was a dear friend and a fighter who will be sorely missed.

Why travel to Moscow

Contrasts: 12th century monasteries and some of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe can be found side-by-side in this complex and captivating city. The diversity of this mega-city is astounding. Only a few steps away from the solemn red facade of the Kremlin and the sounds of righteous church bells, a buzzing night scene and alternative-fashion boutiques can be found.

Culture: In Moscow only the best goes. Be it a theatre, restaurant or gallery, the standards are certain to be world-class. The Bolshoi ballet company is reputed to be even better than the Mariinsky’s and “MMOMA” (Moscow’s museum of modern art) exhibits works of art as profound as any that could be found in the famed MOMA.

Convenience: Unlike the rest of Russia, it’s easy enough to get by with just English in Moscow and, driving excepted, it is surprisingly safe: the murder rate is lower than in some of America’s major cities.

It would take more than two days to walk around the perimeter of the biggest city in Europe, Moscow. Many of its inhabitants barely know what’s beyond the few blocks around their flat and there are so many attractions that it’s almost impossible to know where to start. If there is such a thing as an antidote to boredom, Moscow City is it. The mind-boggling range and diversity of things to do, places to eat, parks, historical monuments and more means that a vacation in Moscow has a wealth of activities to offer for every type of traveler, from young families to retirees.

Reasons to Vacation in Moscow in 2022

The Bolshoi theatre is familiar to almost everyone as Russia’s grandest theatre, but what people don’t know is that there are many more bolshoi (big) sites in Moscow that are worth travelling all the way to Moscow to see. For more than 100 years, the world’s biggest bell has been hidden behind the Kremlin’s walls and inside Moscow’s main park (which is bigger than some countries!) there is the world’s largest outdoor ice-rink. Travelers that visit Moscow can stay at the Izmailovo, Europe’s biggest hotel, then eat at the largest and most historic McDonald’s in Europe and after that have fun at the largest European indoor theme park!

Ancient Past & Stunning Architecture:

As those who travel to Moscow will see, just because Moscow is a city of record-breaking, glitzy high-rises doesn’t mean that there is no history. On the famous Arbat street, time-worn, wooden storehouses and century-old churches are squashed up against grey, soviet blocks which are then towered over by 21st century office-blocks. Unlike its much younger sibling, St Petersburg, Moscow’s roots stretch way back to the 12th century. Within the walls of the Kremlin, the city’s oldest building the Cathedral of Assumption can be admired in all its 500+ years of age.

Culture & Convenience

For a foreigner who has never visited Russia, Moscow is the perfect stepping stone into this great land of mystery. From the country’s best classical ballet troupes to snow-white troikas trotting through the parks, all the highlights of Russian culture can be had in Moscow without any of the complications that would be expected in other, less developed regions of Russia.

Cheap as Caviar

In Moscow, everything is bargain when with the current foreign exchange rates being what they are. Even caviar doesn’t seem so dear when the exchange rate is at 60rub to the dollar, so go on indulge yourself! Take your 2022 vacation in Moscow and have the best of both worlds, with European luxury at very affordable prices.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

We had a great time both in Moscow and St Petersburg. Your travel agency was excellent in coordinating the whole trip. Everything worked like clockwork. The guides assigned to us were very nice and friendly. They had a great knowledge of their subjects. The cars and the drivers were great. The hotels were good and the itinerary was good. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. It was nice dealing with you and your company. Thank you very much for a great Russian experience. Have a great future ahead

Church domes are visible like mushrooms from anywhere and everywhere in the town like in a fairy tale. No wonder Suzdal is called the ‘Town Museum”.  It is definitely worth visiting!
