Visiting Natchez Historic Homes and Plantations

December 13, 2019 By Caroline Eubanks 7 Comments

Fall Pilgrimage Natchez

Like so many towns along the Mississippi River, Natchez , Mississippi was home to lavish plantations and farms where cotton and other products could be shipped up or downstream to market. Cotton planters became millionaires but at the cost of the enslaved labor.

Some of these historic homes in the 300-year-old town are still standing and are open to tours. They’re a popular day trip for those traveling with the river cruises. Some homes are only open during the Natchez Pilgrimage , seasonal tours of homes, but others are open year-round.

During these pilgrimages, you can visit multiple homes for one price. Most can be seen by a group tour, which we’ve linked to, as well as independently by renting a car from the airport rental car  counters in Jackson .

A Note On Plantations:  These homes have a dark history that shouldn’t be ignored. Only you can decide whether this is something you’re interested in doing. Read  this post  for more perspectives on both sides of the debate.

Auburn Mansion, Natchez, Mississippi, in April 2011.jpg

Auburn is an antebellum mansion built in 1812 by Levi Weeks, who had fled New York after being tried for murder, for Mississippi’s first attorney general. It is built in the Greek Revival style with porticos and columns as well as a stunning unsupported spiral staircase.

Book your tour of Auburn Museum & Historic Home .

Choctaw Hall

Choctaw Hall

Choctaw Hall was built in the Federal and Greek Revival styles in 1836. It has dramatic double porches. Today it operates as a bed and breakfast and event venue. Tours are offered from Wednesday to Sunday at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm.

Book your tour of Choctaw Hall or spend the night at Choctaw Hall .

LANSDOWNE.jpg

Lansdowne is an antebellum plantation set on over 700 acres and is still owned by descendants of the original family. It contains much of the original decor and furnishings and has never undergone a restoration. Tours are offered on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 3 pm. It also operates as a bed and breakfast and event venue.

Book your tour of Lansdowne .

Longwood

Longwood is the most unique antebellum home in the country, built in a circular “Oriental-style” mansion. Built for a cotton planter, all work stopped during the Civil War and never continued. Tours of the home go through the basement, where the family lived, and the unfinished upstairs. It’s also open for seasonal ghost tours and was even featured in  True Blood .

Magnolia Hall

Magnolia Hall Natchez Mississippi USA Front.JPG

Magnolia Hall was built in 1858 as a Greek Revival mansion, also known as the Henderson-Britton House. It was owned by Thomas Henderson, a wealthy cotton broker and merchant. A Union shell hit the kitchen during the Civil War. Tours are offered by the Natchez Garden Club and an upstairs exhibit features costumes.

Book your tour of Magnolia Hall .

Melrose-Natchez-MS.jpg

Melrose was built in the Greek Revival design in the 1820s for lawyer John T. McMurran, who worked with Monmouth owner John Quitman. After the Civil War, he sold the home to Elizabeth and George Davis, a couple whose home, Choctaw, had been taken over by Union troops. It has furnishings from this time period. Tours are offered daily by the Natchez National Park Service .

Monmouth

Monmouth is a 26-acre estate with one of the oldest homes in Natchez, now serving as a restaurant and inn. It was built in 1818 and inhabited by John Quitman, who became a Mississippi Governor. The home offers its own tours and is a stop on the City Sightseeing tour. Restaurant 1818 has Southern favorites like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and collard greens.

Book your tour of Monmouth Historic Inn and Gardens or spend the night at Monmouth Historic Inn , a AAA Four Diamond property.

Rosalie Mansion

Rosalie Mansion

Rosalie Mansion overlooks the bluffs of the Mississippi River and was built in the 1700s. Named for the Countess of Pontchartrain, the home was owned by three families before being turned over to the Daughters of the American Revolution. It survived the Civil War by becoming a Union headquarters.

Book your tour of Rosalie Mansion .

Stanton Hall

Stanton Hall

Stanton Hall is a Classic Revival antebellum home that was built in the 1850s for an Irish cotton broker. It was built to resemble his home in Belfast, another name given to the home. It later became a women’s school and inspired the design for Disney’s Haunted Mansion . Today they operate tours as well as the Carriage House Restaurant, which has some of the best fried chicken around.

Book your tour of Stanton Hall or spend the night at Stanton Guest House .

Other Natchez Houses to Tour

In addition to the grand antebellum homes and plantations, Natchez also has other historic homes open for tours.

The House on Ellicott’s Hill was one of the first homes built in Natchez in 1797. Featuring Federal style elements, the house was purchased through a Spanish land grant. It is now open for tours, operated by the Natchez Garden Club. The 1951 film Show Boat was filmed at the home.

The William Johnson House was named for the freed slave that lived here, a barber. He owned slaves himself and his house and diary provide a picture of life in Natchez during that time.

See the city’s historic homes and attractions on the City Sightseeing Natchez Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour , an informative bus tour that makes twelve stops around town. Your pass is good all day, so take your time.

Where to Stay in Natchez, Mississippi

In addition to the historic homes offering both tours and accommodations, these Natchez mansions run their own bed and breakfasts.

Devereaux Shields House – Guests enjoy a full Southern hot breakfast and 24-hour coffee, sofa, and tea service at this Victorian bed and breakfast. Accommodation options include rooms in the main house and the adjoining cottage.

Linden – A Historic Antebellum Bed and Breakfast – Located in a well-preserved antebellum mansion, the inn is set on seven acres. Built in 1785, residents include the United States senator Thomas Buck Reed.

The Burn Bed and Breakfast was built in 1834 and became an inn in 1978. Rooms and suites have private baths, cable television, wireless Internet, and access to the outdoor pool.

Brandon Hall Plantation was built in 1856 outside of Natchez. It went through a number of owners before becoming an inn and event venue. They also operate tours during the fall and spring pilgrimages.

I don’t know. You’ll have to check with each website.

Can you tour the homes without getting tickets through Natchez Pilgrimage? At NPT, you have to purchase separate tours for $20-$25 each. We only want to tour 3-4 and I was hoping for a ticket/pass that allows multiple home tours for one price.

We usually purchase tickets at the Natchez Visitor Center when we get there. They usually have a package deal for 3 houses.

Hi Jeannine, I’m not sure but would love to know! I think most of my family is based in GA and SC.

Justin timberlake sells his 127-acre nashville ranch amid dwi scandal and sluggish tour sales.

Justin Timberlake has just struck gold in the hot Nashville real estate market, selling a sprawling 127-acre property on the outskirts of the city for a cool $8 million.

Timberlake, 43, bid “Bye Bye Bye” to the land at the end of May, despite it fetching $2 million less than his original asking price from last summer. However, the savvy singer still managed to double his investment, having bought it for $4 million in 2015.

The sale closed just weeks before Timberlake’s headline-making DWI arrest in the Hamptons.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Covey Rise Properties (@coveyriseproperties)

Nashville’s real estate scene has been booming, driven by an influx of newcomers from cities like Los Angeles. Luxury homes around the metro area have seen median sale prices soar to nearly $1.7 million in the first quarter of this year, marking an 8% annual increase, according to Redfin.

Timberlake, a Tennessee native and former ‘N Sync heartthrob, utilized a trust for his purchase, with an accountant tied to other Timberlake ventures listed as trustee, according to The Sun , which was the first to report on the sale.

The land spans almost 127 acres.

Neither the trustee nor the listing agent, Tom Sullivan of Covey Rise Properties, responded to requests for comment. The new owner is listed as a limited liability company.

Timberlake purchased the property for $4 million in 2015.

Located near the village of Leiper’s Fork, the parcel is protected against development and boasts a spring-fed fishing pond, miles of trails, pastures, spring creeks, and hunting opportunities.

Timberlake’s ties to the area run deep; he’s been involved in local events and businesses, including the Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival.

This sale coincides with Timberlake’s struggles to sell out tickets for his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.

Announced on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show in January, the tour has seen sluggish sales, with thousands of tickets still available for upcoming dates in Chicago and New York.

Dobyns Branch Creek greets you at two entrances to the property. One entrance crosses the creek offering the opportunity for a grand covered bridge entrance, while the other entrance skirts the creek providing for an easy construction or horse trailer entrance.

Despite this, the tour has already grossed $140 million, though some of this might be jeopardized following Timberlake’s recent arrest.

The DWI incident occurred on a Monday, with Timberlake reportedly lamenting to the arresting officer, “This is going to ruin the tour.” The officer, seemingly unaware of Timberlake’s celebrity status, asked him what tour he was referring to. Timberlake replied, “The world tour.”

Justin Timberlake has sold his Tennessee farm for $8 million -- doubling his profit from when he first purchased the property for $4 million in 2015.

Adding to his financial ventures, Timberlake still holds property debt on his Hollywood Hills home, which he listed for $35 million in 2021 before pulling it off the market. He’s owned the mansion since purchasing it from actress Helen Hunt for $8.3 million in 2002. Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, also sold their Tribeca penthouse for $29 million in 2022.

Following his arrest, Timberlake has apologized to his tour team and assured them that no dates will be canceled.

We hope to see you at our ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, April 6th (1pm)! We’ll be kicking off this incredible tour at one of Wilmington’s nine Local Landmarks: Fire Station No. 5 .

home tour in map

Constructed during the Great Depression (1931), this Spanish Colonial/Mission-style building was intended to relieve unemployment while simultaneously providing Wilmington’s newly-established suburbs with a much-needed fire station.

Used as a private residence since 1998, the first floor has been transformed into a performance studio. Theatre for All , a performing arts company for adults with disabilities, regularly utilizes the space for practice, and they will be performing inside the Fire Station during the tour, to display the adaptively reused building in all its present-day glory!

This landmark’s history is absolutely fascinating, and provides illuminating detail on not just the building itself, but the neighborhoods that it served. Click here to learn more about Fire Station No. 5!

History of Westbrook-Ardmore

In 1906, Carolina Place marked the beginning of Wilmington’s suburban expansion, situated just east of what is now Westbrook. It was soon joined in 1908 by Carolina Heights and Winoca Terrace, which are located to the north of the former Westbrook Farm. Meanwhile, the Delgago Cotton Mill village grew just southeast of the city limits. Connecting these neighborhoods with downtown was Tide Water Power Company’s street cars, which traversed city streets and offered transportation to Wrightsville Beach.

The growth around the periphery of Wilmington’s city limits left one last opportunity for suburban development: the former Westbrook farmland. First to capitalize on the land run was D. R. Foster & Company, who created The Bronx. Next was the Manhattan Company, followed shortly by Carolina Court. Eventually, three more developments were born: Pinehurst, Westbrook, and Ardmore. Collectively, the six developments closed a chapter in the development of Wilmington by filling in the last open land within the city’s pre-1945 street grid.

Each of the six, interrelated developments captured in aesthetic and amenity the aspirations of the American middle class during the early-to-mid 20th century. Economic yet stylish architectural styles,  such as the Four Square and Craftsman bungalow, lent themselves towards mass, speculative construction by developers based upon published pattern books. Paired with the expansion of credit and access to mortgages, homeownership became accessible and affordable to white Wilmingtonians. While these communities thrived, it’s important to acknowledge that, at the time, racist deed restrictions limited the pathway to the American dream for African Americans. Furthermore, the development of these segregated neighborhoods—with their idyllic tree-lined streets, paved sidewalks, and pocket parks—was partially achieved through convict labor, demonstrating how slavery persisted in another name in the growth of American suburbs.

Increasingly, the houses of Westbrook-Ardmore featured driveways and garages, as the automobile became a fixture of the middle-class household thanks to the efficiencies of mass production and expansion of credit. Consequently, service stations built in the sleek, Art Deco style became fixtures of Westbrook-Ardmore’s prominent street corners, a testament to the prominence of the automobile in this new age. T his evolution underscored the growing importance of the car in American life.

Fifteen years since Westbrook-Ardmore was listed on the National Register of Historic Places, HWF proudly recognizes Westbrook-Ardmore during the 2024 Azalea Festival Home Tour!

home tour in map

On Thursday, April 4th, we will be celebrating Wilmington’s newest National Register Historic District at Fermental Beer & Wine (600 South 17th Street)! This exclusive event is available to all Azalea Festival Home Tour ticket holders.

Housed within a former Art Deco service station, Fermental is a fantastic example of adaptive reuse within Westbrook-Ardmore, and the project won a Preservation Award in 2023 . What a wonderful setting for our Azalea Festival Home Tour kick off—make the most of your home tour experience by joining us for this enlightening evening! A historic happy hour from 5:30-6:30pm will set the stage for an immersive retrospective of the district from 6:30-7:30pm. HWF Executive Director Travis Gilbert will trace Westbrook-Ardmore’s history and illuminate how it ties into the greater story of our city and region.

Cash bar available—we look forward to raising a glass to preservation with you! In a nod to the neighborhood, Fermental will be featuring a couple rotating Westbrook Brewing beers on draft! There will also be a taco food truck on site, El Charrito.

If you have purchased your ticket online, you may pick it up at the event. If you’d like to purchase your ticket in-person, you may do so at the event!

Davis, patriarchal brother to President Jefferson Davis, CSA, and owner of magnificent Warren County plantation, Hurricane, died here in 1870. Most notably the balcony was the site where Jefferson Davis greeted neighbors and friends while visiting his brother in 1869. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Under the supervision of architect James T. Canizaro of Jackson, the house was dismantled and all salvageable parts were used to rebuild the home in the Federal style and renamed Grey Oaks at its present location. The home is an elegant adaptation of an 1830s home. Surrounded by acres of landscaped grounds and towering oaks, and mountains of Kudzu, the house takes on the aura of a romance novel.

Interactive Glastonbury 2024 map made by stay-at-home dad is next level

author image

Glastonbury map and sign

Emmet Roche has never been to Glastonbury , nor is he en route to Worthy Farm as we speak ready for a weekend of festival fun in the sunshine ( with a possibility of rain ).

The dad-of-two, 46, is at home in Dublin – and yet he’s created a monster map of Glastonbury Festival 2024.

‘I grew up in a village which for a long time was home to the biggest musical festival in Ireland. I grew up seeing all this stuff and have always been interested in the behind-the-scenes logistics of how it works,’ Emmet tells Metro.co.uk.

Before Glastonbury thought of making a nifty interactive map filtered by type of attraction – be it a specific stage, toilets, food trucks – in 2024, Emmet had already done it last year.

His map can be downloaded onto Google Maps and shows you where all of the various points of interest and facilities are at Glastonbury Festival. It’s impressive, to say the least.

‘I used to work for a travel company but I got laid off at the start of Covid , so I became a stay-at-home dad to two small kids,’ Emmet said, explaining how last year he took a certificate course in digital mapping.

Emmet Roche's interactive Glastonbury map on Google Maps

How to use Emmet's incredible Glastonbury Map

  • Click on this link to launch the map.
  • Once launched in Google Maps, it will look like this:

Emmet Roche's interactive Glastonbury map on Google Maps

Browse and enjoy. If you leave Google Maps and go back on, it will have disappeared.

To re-launch the map, just go to the ‘saved’ tab on Google Maps, look at the right-hand corner which says ‘maps’ and it should be there.

‘For one of the projects we had to recreate a map. For some reason, I chose to do the Glastonbury Festival map and have it all properly geo-located and stuff like that.

‘Once I had that done I felt like it was insane to just lose it so I figured I might as well put it together for something that people might be able to use. So that’s what I did.’

He added: ‘I always liked to help people. As a product manager in a travel company I was always very focused on the end user and how they’re going to experience things. That’s why I tried to make this as accurate as possible.’

When Emmet published it ahead of last year’s festival after weeks of work -and without such a sophisticated official map from Glastonbury at the time – it boomed, gaining over 100,000 likes on X within 24 hours. Now he says it’s been viewed over 1million times.

‘When I put it out I knew some people would like it but I was blown away,’ he said. ‘It was a lot bigger than I needed to do for the project. It took a long time. It really showed me how big the actual site is.’

As for 2024, he says: ‘The hard work was already done for this year, it was just some bits to move around. And they always change a few bits and pieces.’

Festival goers arrive on the opening day of the Glastonbury festival at Worthy Farm on June 26, 2024

Last year Emmet made a point of including information he says was not on the official map at the time, including accessibility points for disabled people – which currently features on the official 2024 Vodafone x Glastonbury app.

‘Some people actually contacted me afterwards and said it was great because when they spoke to the stewards, they weren’t always too sure where the disabled toilets were and stuff like that,’ Emmet recalled.

‘They have the new app this year which is much better, so I don’t know if my map is still as useful as it was,’ he admits.

Indeed, the new Glastonbury map on the official app has experienced a glow-up this year, including map pinning and filters for food stalls, as well as directional navigation.

The official press release also said there were ‘revamps’ to its accessibility features, as it wrote: ‘There are also a number of revamps to the Search & Accessibility features, helping fans easily search artists, find Glastonbury’s many accessible campsites and viewing platforms, and locate areas such as Deafzone and the Sensory Calm Space.’

Dua Lipa in a red dress performing onstage with backup dancers

But this was a year too late for Emmet, and while Glastonbury seems to have caught up to his tech for 2024 – his map is still a work of art.

Alongside compiling official information, Emmet got all the data through people within the festival. Plus, he’s a nerd.

‘I’m a real nerd at this,’ he says. ‘I’d look at satellite images and some pictures from the ground, then you can figure out where things are from looking at that. It’s just the way my brain works.’

Now Emmet knows every nook and cranny of the 1,000-acre Glastonbury Festival grounds – is he tempted to go?

‘That’d be nice, alright. Maybe when the kids are a bit older.’

If you appreciate Emmet’s public service, buy the man a coffee .

The official Glastonbury 2024 mobile app – powered by Vodafone – is now available to download on  Apple iOS  and  Android .

Yemen’s Houthi rebels target ship in the Gulf of Aden as the Eisenhower aircraft carrier heads home

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — An attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a commercial ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden but apparently caused no damage, authorities said Saturday, in the latest strike on the shipping lane by the group.

The Houthi attack comes after the sinking this week of the ship Tutor , which marked what appears to be a new escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthis in their campaign of strikes on ships in the vital maritime corridor over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip .

Meanwhile, the U.S. military ordered the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower , the aircraft carrier leading America’s response to the Houthi attacks, to return home after a twice-extended tour.

The captain of the ship targeted late Friday saw “explosions in the vicinity of the vessel,” the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said. A later briefing by the U.S.-overseen Joint Maritime Information Center said the vessel initially reported two explosions off its port side and a third one later.

“The vessel was not hit and sustained no damage,” the center said. “The vessel and crew are reported to be safe and are proceeding to their next port of call.”

Image

The Houthis, who have held Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, since 2014, claimed the attack Saturday night. Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, identified the vessel targeted as the bulk carrier Transworld Navigator.

The U.S. military separately destroyed three drone boats in the Red Sea over the last day, Central Command said.

The Houthis have launched more than 60 attacks targeting specific vessels and fired off other missiles and drones in their campaign that has killed a total of four sailors. They have seized one vessel and sunk two since November. A U.S.-led airstrike campaign has targeted the Houthis since January, with a series of strikes May 30 killing at least 16 people and wounding 42 others, the rebels say.

In March, the Belize-flagged Rubymar carrying fertilizer became the first to sink in the Red Sea after taking on water for days following a rebel attack.

The Houthis have maintained that their attacks target ships linked to Israel, the United States or Britain. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the Israel-Hamas war.

The Eisenhower , based in Norfolk, Virginia, is returning home after an over eight-month deployment in combat that the Navy says is its most intense since World War II . The San Diego-based USS Theodore Roosevelt will take the Eisenhower’s place after a scheduled exercise in the Indo-Pacific, said Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder.

The Roosevelt anchored Saturday in Busan, South Korea, amid Seoul’s ongoing tensions with North Korea .

The Eisenhower had already reached the Mediterranean Sea, said a U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss ship movements. Flight-tracking data analyzed by The Associated Press showed a Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter associated with the Eisenhower flying above the Mediterranean just off the coast of Port Said, Egypt, on Saturday night.

The Eisenhower had repeatedly been targeted by false attack claims by the Houthis during its time in the Red Sea. Saree on Saturday night claimed another attack on the carrier — but again provided no evidence to support it as the ship already had left the area. Central Command called the claim “categorically false.”

Associated Press writer Lolita C. Baldor in Washington contributed to this report.

Divine Mercy Sanctuary (Sanktuarium Bozego Milosierdzia)

Siostry Faustyny 3, Krakow, POL

A Roman Catholic basilica, the Divine Mercy Sanctuary (Sanktuarium Bożego Miłosierdzia is home to the tomb of St. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun who saw a vision of Jesus in 1931. Consequently, the church is a popular pilgrimage place for Catholics from around the world.

The Divine Mercy Sanctuary was originally built as part of the monastery complex of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. Since the beatification of St. Faustina in 1993, her remains have rested on the altar below the image of Divine Mercy, a depiction of Jesus based on the vision she is said to have had. After visiting the church, stop by the attached tower for fantastic views of the city, or check out the adjacent St. Sister Faustina’s House, which displays everyday objects from the nun’s life.

To learn more about St. Faustina and Cardinal Karol Wojtyła (later Pope John Paul II), who designated the church as a shrine and initiated the construction of the modern basilica, join one of the several guided tours in and around Krakow that are focused on Catholic history.

  • The Divine Mercy Sanctuary is accessible to wheelchairs.
  • The basilica has a shop that sells religious items.

Located on the southern outskirts of Krakow, the Divine Mercy Sanctuary is around 20 minutes from Old Town by public transit. Take tram 8, 19, or 22, and get off at the Sanktuarium Bożego Miłosierdzia station.

The basilica and viewing tower are typically open during daytime hours—get there before noon to beat the biggest crowds. The Eternal Adoration Chapel is open around the clock, but St. Faustina’s tomb can be seen during certain hours only. Travelers are requested to avoid visiting during Mass.

Visitors wanting to extend their experience can stay overnight at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, as the nuns run a hostel in a converted building in their convent. Another lodging option is the modern Pastoral Lodge (Dom Pielgrzyma), also situated on the premises.

The Divine Mercy Sanctuary is a Catholic pilgrimage site and place of worship in Krakow that’s dedicated to the Divine Mercy devotion. Millions of pilgrims flock to this religious site each year, and multiple popes have visited, as it is the resting place of Saint Faustina and home of the Divine Mercy painting.

The easiest way to get to the Divine Mercy Sanctuary from Krakow city center is to take tram #8, #9, #10, #11, #19, or #22 to Lagiewniki SKA stop. Alternatively, taxis or ride hailing apps are readily available, if you’d prefer alternatives to public transportation.

Yes, visitors can attend Mass at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary. Typically, there are holy masses throughout the year from morning to early evening on weekdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Mass times can vary, so it’s advisable to check the official schedule before visiting.

Yes, guided tours are available at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary. These tours often tell stories about Saint Faustina and miracles believed to have occurred, as well as discuss the church’s distinctive architecture and the Divine Mercy painting. Some tours also include stops at other holy sights, such as Czestochowa Monastery.

The must-see features in the Divine Mercy Sanctuary include the convent and tomb of Saint Faustina, as well as the Divine Mercy painting. This painting is a depiction of Jesus based on what is believed to be a vision that the saint had in 1931.

Yes, visitors can buy a variety of religious items and souvenirs at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary. There is a gift shop that sells a wide range of Catholic and Christian items, including rosaries, crosses, statues, prayer cards, paintings, books, and gifts for special occasions such as baptisms, weddings, and Christmas.

London's iconic Tube map has been redrawn to celebrate the arrival of Taylor Swift's tour in the capital.

As the US megastar's Eras Tour descends on the city, fans, or Swifties, will be able to navigate their way around using a redesigned London Underground layout, with each line named after a different album and drawn in sequin colours to match - with stations denoted by her songs.

Under the changes, the Central Line has been renamed Red after the singer's fourth album while the Victoria Line becomes 1989, the Bakerloo Line Evermore and the Northern Line her latest release, The Tortured Poets Department .

The map also highlights a host of places across the capital that are referenced in her music.

Notable locations on the Taylor trail - some of which feature in her song London Boy, include the West End, Soho, Bond Street, Camden Market, Highgate, Hampstead Heath, Vauxhall, Shoreditch, Hackney, Brixton and Kentish Town.

Swift-fever even spread to Buckingham Palace earlier on Friday where Shake It Off was played at the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony.

The pop star has already played sell-out shows in Edinburgh , Liverpool and Cardiff and it is now the turn of fans at Wembley Stadium to get a sprinkling of stardust.

They have waited more than a year for the tour to arrive, after Swift kicked off her marathon string of dates in Glendale, Arizona, in March 2023.

She will play three nights at Wembley Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday before taking the tour to Dublin next week.

Swift will return to London for five more shows in August.
