The Sims 4's Key to Longevity Alongside Project Rene Might Not Lie in DLC

New sims 4 pack makes big improvement to dating, sims 4 player builds gta's grove street in the game.

Sims experience the hustle and bustle of life in the big city with The Sims 4: City Living . The Expansion pack includes new features like apartments, social careers, festivals, and more. Between dealing with loud neighbors and karaoke nights, Sims can enjoy the weekly festivals.

Festivals are fun events hosted in San Myshuno's various districts. They are goaled social events with unique themes focusing on community and trying new things. Sims who attend and complete all the activities can leave with rewards and special moodlets. Here's everything players need to know about festivals in The Sims 4: City Living .

RELATED: The Sims 4: Best Expansion Packs for Rags-To-Riches Gameplay

What Are Festivals

There are five festivals in The Sims 4: City Living . Festivals take place on a bi-weekly rotation throughout San Myshuno. Players will be able to track the festival schedule using the in-game calendar , and they will receive a notification when it starts. The five festivals include the Flea Market, GeekCon, Humor & Hijinks, Romance, and Spice Festival.

Sims do not have to live in San Myshuno to attend or be notified of the festivals. However, those living in apartments can check their community message board for flyers and other information. Festivals provide Sims an opportunity to meet other Sims, buy swag, eat food, and play festival games.

Sometimes a Sim's friend calls them and invites them to a festival. When they get there, there will be a specific activity they must do similar to how date invites work . Festivals last a few hours, so Sims will have plenty of time to complete any required tasks before one ends.

Flea Market

The Flea Market occurs on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in Waterside Warble. It's a chance for Sims to shop local wares and find unique furniture, decorations, and treasures. Alternatively, Sims can set up at one of the display tables and sell their valuables.

Sims love to haggle or trade at the Flea Market, so it's an excellent place to earn cash or receive rare items. There are also random boxes around the festival grounds where Sims can search for city-exclusive collectibles . If a friend invites a Sim to the Flea Market, they are typically prompted to buy something.

GeekCon is at Planet Honey Pop on Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It has the same energy as a real-life hero or tv convention, and Sims are encouraged to wear costumes, play video games, enter contests, and work on their Skills. There are also multiple food and merch vendors they can get cool swag from.

Sims with the Geek trait particularly enjoy the festival, but it is open to everyone. Sims will receive a boost to their mental skill gains while using the Motion Gaming Mats, computers, and rocket-building stations set up around the grounds. Being in a Focused mood makes winning the Video Game or Programming contest easier.

Humor & Hijinks Festival

The Humor and Hijinks Festival takes place Mondays from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM near Casbah Gallery. It is all about fun social interactions such as pranks, mischief, and jokes. Sims who are Hot-Headed or Proper will likely not enjoy the Humor and Hijinks festival.

The main activity is a friendly competition between the Jokesters and the Pranksters. Each team has a tea fountain, and Sims can drink from either to choose which team they want to be on. Then, they must complete activities to earn their team points, such as comedy interactions for the Jokesters and mischief for the Pranksters.

Romance Festival

The Romance Festival takes place on Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM near Planet Honey Pop and is all about love and flirty vibes. Whether Sims or single or in a long-term relationship, they can enjoy the romantic festivities, including drinking the Sakura Tea, scattering flower petals, meeting other flirty Sims , or interacting with the Romance Guru.

Sims thinking of taking their relationship to the next level, can use the festival as the perfect opportunity to propose to their significant other and even get married using the onsite wedding arch. Of course, asking the Romance Guru if he thinks their relationship is doomed to fail or thrive for some "accurate" insight may be wise.

Spice Festival

The Spice Festival brings on the heat from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM on Mondays, Fridays, or Saturdays, depending on the festival rotation. Sims can enjoy the local cuisines that feature spice and fresh produce and purchase uncommon herbs to make their own versions of the cultural foods .

One of the main activities is the Spicy Challenge, and Sims will see if they can handle eating the world's spiciest bowl of curry for a chance to win a fun shirt and get a special moodlet. However, suppose players want to avoid attempting the Challenge and hurting their Sim. In that case, they can have a more relaxing day at the festival, harvesting the various fruits and vegetables on the ground to see if they find anything unique.

The Sims 4: City Living is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.

The Sims 4 City Living – Festivals

how to travel to festivals sims 4

The Sims 4: City Living expansion pack brings back festivals!  The festivals in The Sims 4 are not about holidays, though – they celebrate different aspects of Sim culture.  We have the Spice Festival, the Flea Market, Geekcon, the Humor and Hijinks Festival, and the Romance Festival.  Each festival has its own flavor, but they all have some things in common.  They all have a swag stand where you can buy festival specific snow globes (which can also be found for free in the free boxes around San Myshuno) and fireworks.  The type of fireworks is the same for each festival, but every festival has its own color,  The spice festival, for example, is green.

11-02-16_5-58-11-pm

Now, some more about each festival!

Spice Festival

11-02-16_5-51-45-pm

This festival takes place, strangely enough, in the Spice Market district and is all about food flavor.  Yes, there’s the spicy food challenge (which my sim failed miserably) but it’s not all about setting your sim’s mouth on fire.

11-02-16_1-17-46-pm

There’s a table of food to sample – one of my sims had a dish of the sweet and sour pork, which taught her that she’s really bad with chopssticks.   There’s also the garden – my sim harvested some plants they didn’t have – and they got acquainted with the new bubble blower.

11-06-16_7-51-19-pm

They also visited the swag stand where they picked up some fireworks and some additional spices like chili powder and curry to use at home making the new dishes they are discovering around San Myshuno.

Flea Market

11-02-16_9-38-39-pm

This festival, which also takes place in the Spice Market District, is a chance for your sims to sell extra produce, paintings, sculptures, collectibles, and the like.  There is a table and a wall where they can set up their wares and sell, sell sell.  They can also browse the other stands and pick up some items to furnish their apartments or complete their collections.

11-06-16_8-56-49-pm

I think that the best thing about the flea market might be the swap meet aspect of it, though.  If you are looking to complete some collections, it is worth it to hang onto your duplicates of that type and take them to the flea market.  You can talk to anyone attending the market and “trade collectibles” with them.  You give them what you want to of posters, snow globes, crystals, fossils, frogs, metals, or My Sim Trophies,  and they will give you back random items from that same collection in a 1:1 trade.  Give them 6 fossils, get 6 random fossils back.  You may get back ones you already have, but perhaps you just might get that oh so rare fossil that you have been trying to dig up since your current sim’s grandfather was a child. This is not the best way to make money, as you may end up trading rare collectibles for common, but it’s a great way to fill in some gaps in your collections.

11-11-16_12-55-19-am

Geekcon takes place at Planet Honey Pop in the Fashion District and is a celebration of all things geek.  There are cosplayers aplenty, and they might even let your sims take a selfie with them.

11-03-16_4-24-54-pm

But watching the cosplayers isn’t the only thing to do.  Your sims can talk to other geeks about important things like the proper pronunciation of ‘gif’, rant about your favorite show being cancelled and much more.  There’s a hacking competition for some nice prizes, video games to be played, including trying out the motion gaming rig, and two rockets – one ready to fly and one in the building stage, so your sims who don’t have the room or the funds to have a rocket of their own can build a rocket and explore space.  Your sims can also observe the heavens (or spy on other apartments) with the telescope.  Your sims might see more than they bargained for if they do that, though.

spying-on-apartments

And if that isn’t enough, your sims will gain skills faster than normal at the festival, so if your sim needs to build some geeky skills, this is the place to do it!

Humor and Hijinks Festival

11-05-16_12-32-42-pm

The Humor and Hijinks Festival takes place in the Fashion District and is a competition between the light side – comedy – and the dark side – mischief.  When a sim arrives at the festival they pick a side by drinking either light tea or dark tea.  Be careful not to let your sims drink both teas, or they will get a 2 hour Dazed moodlet.

humorfestival-drink-both-teas

A sim on the light, or humor, side gains points for their team every time they do a “funny” interaction.  Sims on the dark, or hijinks, side gain points for their team every time they do a “mischief” interaction.  There’s a microphone for sims to practice their comedy routines, and enough festival goers to entertain or torment that your sim will have no trouble scoring plenty of points for their team.  At the end of the festival the members of the winning team get a rather nice prize, so it’s definitely worth staying until the end for this one.  Even if your sim’s team doesn’t win, the fireworks are nice.

11-05-16_12-31-48-pm

Romance Festival

11-05-16_1-56-00-am

Love is in the air at the romance festival, which takes place in the Fashion District.  The trees are in bloom, the Sakura tea is flowing, and the wedding arch is ready to go.  Bah, humbug, you say?  Well, there are also flowers to be picked.  My sims managed to pick up some dragonfruit and birds of paradise, so it’s well worth heading to the festival to pick up some flowers your sim might be missing from their collection.  If your sim has been looking for love in all the wrong places, they can talk to the romance guru to get a glimpse of their romance destiny.

There’s plenty for your “player” sims to do as well – there are festival specific “friendly flirting” socials that they can do, like “joke” about getting together, throwing flower petals, and romantic socials of all types have a higher chance of success at the festival.

11-05-16_2-00-35-am

If one of your sims has been itching to pop the question, the festival is a great place to do so.  They can head right over to the wedding arch and get married then and there.

11-05-16_12-02-59-am

If your sims are already married, they can renew their vows at the arch, which will get them a happy moodlet, so it’s well worth doing.  Don’t forget to have them sample the tea before they go home – it packs a flirty punch!

11-04-16_11-29-34-pm

Final Thoughts:

I came into City Living expecting to not like the festivals, as I never had much use for the festivals in The Sims 3.  More often than not my sims completely skipped them.  But these festivals are not what I was expecting.  They’re smaller, but at the same time there are more useful things to do at these festivals.  There are more collectibles, more opportunities to build skills, and even some ways to pick up some cash.  The festivals are short enough – usually about 8 game hours – that your sim can’t really do everything in one visit, so that means you won’t do everything in the first week and then never go back.  All in all I’d say that the festivals are a wonderful addition to the game.  I look forward to having all my sims visit them.

The Humor and Hijinks festival does not take place in the fashion district, it takes place in the arts district

The Sims 4 Festivals

City living events: festival schedule.

The Sims 4 City Living features festival events which invite your Sim to participate in group activities, learn recipes, and maybe win prizes. Each of the five different festivals has its own theme and provides a moodlet, either through socials, having drinks available, or provides an emotional aura. While the festival schedule is somewhat random, Sims player Sid1701d9 has provided us with some data that helps to predict which festivals will happen each week.

How it Works

You do not have to live in San Myshuno to go to Festivals. On festival day, you'll get a notice, and sometimes an invite from a friendly Sim to join them at the festival. Each of the festival lots are set up to automatically change over at the designated time. If you live in the same neighborhood, there is no need to load - you'll simply leave your apartment.

Each game starts with a festival schedule which is then set to repeat every two weeks. The first festival you get helps you to determine what the schedule will be. While the schedule system isn't as predictable as we had thought, it does seem to be accurate to say, for example, that you can expect the Romance Festival to repeat every two weeks on Saturday. Two examples of likely schedules are provided below. If you get a completely different one it is easy to predict. Festivals will be every other week on the listed day.

Flea Markets happen the same week as Humor and Hijinks, but if you are starting a fresh game you will not have that first flea market.

Flea Markets

The Alameda Flea Market or the San Jose Flea Markets really inspired us here. You can go there and buy all sorts of junk – and we mean junk – but also really cool gems like old board games, antiques, and weird knick-knacks.

Inspired by the San Diego Comic Con, GenCon, E3, PAX, and Gamescom, we really wanted to capture that feeling of fans in cosplay, competitions and tournaments, and just sheer nerdage with Geek Con. These events have become such a big part of the gaming community and we wanted to embrace that.

San Francisco has lots of food-focused events like Eat Drink SF and living in San Francisco, the Spice Festival felt like a natural fit. While at the Spice Festival your Sims can even participate in the Curry challenge, a fire breathing bout that’s best reserved for Sims with plenty of heat tolerance.

Food carts are everywhere in cities like San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, Sydney, Paris, Vancouver, and Tokyo. We created the carts as a vehicle to have lots of food, and the festivals were just a natural place to put them!

Feel the Love

At the romance festival, we love the “Heat of the Moment” Proposal interaction. It tells such a great story of love at first site, at the festival, and reminds us of some of our favorite movies.

The craft sales table were inspired by the artist carts all over the River Seine in Paris, France and the neighborhood farmer’s markets here in San Francisco. We wanted to give players a way to tell that artisanal side story.

Embrace Your Inner Geek at GeekCon in The Sims 4 City Living

Gaze at Fireworks

The Humor and Hijinks festival features fireworks and they make for a killer photo finish.

Make Some Snacks

There are over 20 new recipes to learn by simply sampling the foods in the city. See how many you can find!

Go Dumpster Diving

Cities can be dirty, but it’s fun digging through the garbage boxes found near festivals to find new collectibles. You never quite know what you’re going to get. Plus you can trade for better collectibles at the Flea Market.

The romance guru is this goofy, strange character that’ll tell you all about your love life. We love adding new characters to the game that players can all share and discuss, and we think the romance guru will be a funny one.

Stay After Hours

When a Festival closes, Sims still around are always down for the after party and they flood the nearest bar. We love that our Sims are always ready to keep the party going.

Join a Hackathon

GeekCon is a great way to build up all of your technical skills. It’s similar to going to your local Tech Crunch in SF where your Sim is fueled by the sites and sounds of technology. You can even have a hackathon with your Sims!

Sims 4 Winterfest – What Is It?

how to travel to festivals sims 4

Since we are now into December, we can discuss the December holidays!  Which means Sims 4 Winterfest!  If you are new to the game or don’t play the gameplay, this blog is for you! We are going to dive deep into the Sims 4 holiday Winterfest!  We are going to pick this holiday apart and really look at all the things you can do gameplay-wise in the Sims 4 Winterfest holiday!

Holiday Season

how to travel to festivals sims 4

The month of December is full of big holidays, including Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.  Hanukkah is December 10th thru the 18th, Christmas is December 25th, and Kwanzaa is December 26th thru January 1st.  All of these holidays bring people together and celebrate traditions.  So, with this in mind, there is no surprise that The Sims 4 has a significant holiday in the winter calendar.

What is Winterfest

how to travel to festivals sims 4

In the Sims 4, the primary winter holiday is called Winterfest.  Winterfest is an event that comes in The Sims 4 Seasons expansion pack.  The holiday is like a very light Christmas.  Although you can prepare, it is only one day, unlike real life.

Need CC? Check out all CC in the Winter Holiday Collection HERE

The Sims 4 Seasons expansion pack came out on June 22, 2018.  This pack includes seasonal changes, weather, floral designs, and holidays for your Sims.  Winterfest is one of the new holidays included in this pack.

What can you do with the Winterfest Holiday?

how to travel to festivals sims 4

With the addition of the Winterfest holiday, many activities are included.  These activities include decorating, opening presents, grand meals, social festive spirit interactions, and Father Winter.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

Of course, you can decorate the inside and outside of your Sims’ lots with the Attic Stack Decoration Box.  There are loads of options, and you may have to look up what each type of building is to get your decorations just right.  I for sure had to look up what a frieze was! So, no judgment here!

how to travel to festivals sims 4

So Winterfest is like Christmas and other holidays that do gift giving, so presents are involved.  Your Sims can use the present pile, get them from Father Winter, or give and receive presents from each other.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

Like many holidays, food is included, and with Winterfest, many Sims want to have a Grand Meal with their loved ones.  For Grand Meals, there are a few options: Fish Dinner, Ham Dinner, Grand Breakfast, Tofurkey Dinner,  and Turkey Dinner.  I would love to see more meals from other parts of the world added to this section.

Festive Spirit

how to travel to festivals sims 4

A Festive Spirit is obtained by interactions and actions prompted by the holiday.  Some of these activities and some social interactions are produced by the holiday.  For Winterfest, all the Winterfest-specific Festive Spirit interactions will have a little mistletoe on them, so you will know precisely which ones complete this aspect of the holiday.

Father Winter

A special Townie will appear on your Sims lots during the Winterfest event.  This guest is none other than Father Winter himself!  He will appear at your lot at 8pm and stay until 2am!  Giving you plenty of time to get your gifts and socialize with Father Winter.  Of course, if you have a large family, it can be rough to get every Sim in. As for me, Father Winter is always very chatty!

Who is Father Winter

how to travel to festivals sims 4

In the original Sims and Sims 2, there was Santa Claus… now in The Sims 4, we have Father Winter.  Which has a lot of similarities to Santa Claus, just spruced up for The Sims.  Just like the legend of Santa Claus, Father Winter will appear at your Sims’ fireplace or front door on Winterfest and give your Sims presents.  Father Winter dresses in a blue coat and hat and has a long white beard.  I like this look much better than the traditional Santa suit as it looks more classy and fancy!  He is magical, after all!

If your Sim is good, they will receive good gifts.  Sims who are on the naughty list get naughty gifts such as coal or pet poop.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

Of course, if you know your Sim is on the naughty list, they can always fight Father Winter for gifts…

I know everyone who has never tried is asking… can I get with Father Winter… Yes, Yes, you can.  Now, if he moves in with you, another Father Winter will take his place when he becomes playable (Just like Agnes and Agatha Crumplebottom).  But do not worry. Your Sim is with the original Father Winter.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

The only trick with this is that you only have from 8pm to 2am to make a lasting impression.  Become at least be friends so you can invite him back.  Or… there are cheats, and you can add him to your household and keep him. Is this considered that kidnapping Father Winter?

Youtube Short On Dating Father Winter – Watch HERE

Father Winter has excellent family skills. He is maxed in the following: Parenting, Baking, and Cooking.  I’m just saying Father Winter is a perfect option for my Sims!

Immune To Death

Not only does he have excellent skills for partnering up with a Sim with kids or one that wants children… but he is also immune to many types of deaths.  Hence, I could not freeze Father Winter to death last year when I tried so hard to do so.  Now, I have yet to try this out, so I am not one hundred percent sure which Sim deaths this includes, but for sure, he will not freeze to death.

If Father Winter moves into your household, he comes with 500,000 Simoleons.  I know if you cheat your funds, this is peanuts, but if you are playing without cheats… Father Winter could help you out quite a bit.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

So that this is not exploited, Father Winters, who appears after the original moved in, will only have 20k.  So you cannot keep bringing in Father Winters at 500k a round.

If you have a child with Father Winter, they get some magical inheritance.  Any child of Father Winter gets the Father Winter’s Child Trait.  This trait is excellent for legacy and generation challenges as it boosts Sims’s satisfaction gain by 50%.

Hopefully, this blog taught you a little more about the Sims 4 Winterfest holiday!  I sure had fun testing everything out, and I think this holiday has a lot of gameplay.  If your Sims are reasonable, you can get some awesome gifts from Father Winter!  Now, which Sim to marry Father Winter in my gameplay save… Bella is newly single…

The Sims 4: How to Succeed At The Finchwick Fair

If you want to be a successful member of the Henford-On-Bagley community, it is imperative that you enter yourself in The Finchwick Fair. This aspect of The Sims 4: Cottage Living is super cute, and allows you to show off your oversized crops, chickens, cows and llamas for a fun experience in the town square.

Each week will be a different type of fair, so be prepared for whichever one occurs, bring your best items and enter and be sure to not try and bribe the mayor as she doesn’t usually take kindly to that kind of behaviour.

Where is The Finchwick Fair?

Every Saturday in Henford-On-Bagley you are going to find the Finchwick Fair taking place across from The Gnome’s Arms Pub in the town square. If you travel your sims straight to the pub, you’ll be right there as it is not a lot you can travel to specifically. This fair takes place between 3:30 and 9:30, so be sure to get your animals, crops or pies in your inventory and head on over.

How to Enter the Finchwick Fair

Entering the Finchwick fair is rather easy, but getting your animals there may be a little complicated. For simple things like the garden, pie and oversized crop competition these things are easily place in your inventory, then once you arrive at the fair you just click on the corresponding booth and submit your entry, easy as pie one might say.

However, you need to actually add your animals to your inventory too which is a bit weird, like how can a cow essentially fit in my pocket? This becomes an option for you to do once the fair has started at 3:30 and you’ll find it under the actions > put in inventory section when you click on your animal.

Once you have arrived at the fair there will be a small booth for the chickens at the chicken fair, and when it is the cow or llama fair you’ll have a full shed to click on to submit your entry.

Types of Competitions

There are actually five different types of fair competitions for your sims to participate in, these vary each week until they cycle back through and start from the beginning. These include the following:

  • Chicken Fair
  • Garden Fair
  • Oversized Crop Fair

At each fair you’ll need to bring different things to be judged on that can vary from animals to pies and they will all be judged by the town’s mayor. You can check out the in-game calendar to find out more information about each fair if you forgot what will be judged.

Finchwick Chicken Fair

Our first fair competition is the Finchwick Chicken Fair where your sims are going to be judged on their chickens and their eggs.

To add a chicken to your inventory to bring with you, wait until the fair starts at 3:30 on your lot then go to actions when clicking on a chicken and put in inventory should be an option and the chicken will be ready to go travel to the fair. And, of course, just drag eggs from your fridge or collect from the coop to bring those.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

The key to doing really well at the chicken fair is to have happy chickens, this of course makes sense for getting your chickens judged. You want to make sure that they are happy, well fed, and well socialized before bringing them to the fair because those are the factors the mayor is looking at.

Happy chickens also equal doing better at the egg competition. Why? Well, happier hens lay better eggs. The better a relationship you have with your hens and the happier they are in general, the higher quality product they will produce. What you really want to bring is something of the highest quality (perfect) it really doesn’t matter if its a rainbow egg or just a regular white egg.

Finchwick Oversized Crop Fair

Our next competition is the oversized crop fair, where you’ll of course need to bring your best oversized crops . There is also a competition at this fair for your sims to be judged on their pie making abilities, so sims who make high quality pies can win prizes as well.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

With oversized crops there are a lot more factors that go into a winning day. You’ll of course want to bring the largest crop you have to the fair, and since there are so many different sizes to work with you need to put in a decent amount of effort.

The key to getting the biggest oversized crop is so take care of it more than you ever have before. You want to use the encourage crop growth interaction at least once, be sure to chat with your crop, make sure it is never covered in bugs and weeds and make sure to keep it watered.

Using fertilizers is also an awesome way to get your sims crops growing better than ever before. However, a large normal quality crop isn’t going to win the fair. You want to bring your largest and most perfect crop with the highest quality possible. I know. A lot of pressure for this competition, but you got this.

Finchwick Llama Fair

Our next fair is the llama fair where your sims are going to be judged on the happiness of their llamas and the quality of the wool produced, and its colour. The wool fair is pretty simple, you want to make sure to bring a fun colour of wool which can be accomplished by shearing a llama after giving them a specific animal treat , some of which produce fun colours (i.e., pumpkin, rainbow, midnight).

You also definitely want to ensure that this wool is of the highest quality. The best way to do this is to have the happiest llama possible. Before shearing your animal make sure that they are well fed, their shed is clean, their feed is full and you have socialized with them a decent amount recently so the quality of the wool will be higher.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

The llama compeition will judge you based on how happy your llama is, including your relationship with the llama. The best things to do to make sure your llama is happier than ever before you go are to:

  • Clean their animal shed
  • Fill their feed
  • Hand feed them
  • Socialize a TON

Doing all of these can ensure a very happy llama before leaving, be sure to hover over the llama to see how they are doing. Once the fair starts at 3:30 you’ll be able to add your llama to your inventory to bring to the fair by clicking actions and choosing put in inventory .

Finchwick Garden Fair

The next fair is the garden fair where you’ll want to bring regular sized plants this means you are not bringing oversized crops . Do you hear me? This is for regular crops! I made the mistake of bringing a large crop and lost and was very disappointed!

The first competition is the pie competition, so you better get baking and make the most delicious and best quality pie a sim can produce.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

To do really well at the garden competition what you want is a rare and perfect quality crop to have the best chance. The rare crop seed packets are your best option for finding these crops as they’ll have items including:

  • Dragonfruit
  • Death Flower
  • Pomegranate
  • Birds of Paradise

Any of these will do better than regular plants like an apple or strawberry for sure. However, you also want them to be of higher quality when you enter them. So, you’ll need to plant them very early so you can evolve your plants or have a golden chicken around so you can have your golden chicken improve their quality (one of the best parts of this pack!).

Finchwick Cow Fair

Our final fair is the Finchwick Cow Fair where you’ll have your cows and their milk judged by the Mayor. The first thing you’ll need is a perfect quality bottle of milk (that’s not expired, of course) to submit for the milk competition.

The best way to get higher quality milk is to have happier cows. How do you get happier cows? Well, before milking make sure that their shed is clean, well stocked with food, they are clean and make sure to socialize them often. You can even give them an animal party treat to put them in an even better mood. Then go ahead and milk when they are very happy and you should have better results.

how to travel to festivals sims 4

The other part of the competition is the cow competition, where you’ll need to do those same things before entering your cow and ensure that they are very happy at the event. Make sure they are fed (even hand feed them to be sure), clean, and socialized before clicking on them and choosing action>put in inventory to bring them to the event.

Benefits of Selling Items During the Fair

The final awesome thing about the Finchwick fair is that you’ll actually get paid a premium for any items you sell at either the garden stall or grocery stall in the town square during the hours of the festival. If you are earning your income through gardening and raising animals, this is a very good increase and can help you boost your income. There are even some unique items for sale during this time!

Final Thoughts

These Finchwick Fairs are a super fun aspect of the cottage living pack for The Sims 4 and can really improve gameplay because it makes you feel like you’re a member of the community. You’ll get to chat with townspeople and really get to know the mayor in the process. Happy playing!

Producer Blogs: Smile! It's the Humor and Hijinks Festival in The Sims 4 City Living

You are here.

The Sims 4: City Living logo

Festivals are one of our favorite new attractions in The Sims 4 City Living* Expansion Pack (coming this November), because they send our diverse city of Sims to the streets to mix, mingle, learn new things, and make new friends! We're going to talk about all of the festivals in more detail this week, starting today with the Humor and Hijinks Festival.

The Sims 4: City Living screenshot

Does your Sim have a great joke to tell? Perhaps they love delivering a good prank? Well, the Humor and Hijinks Festival is for the silly prankster Sims we all know and (some of us) love.

Humor and Hijinks is really a competition between these two groups for supremacy during the festival. Your Sim can declare their allegiance by drinking the light or dark teas, which sets them on a specific team. Then, it’s all about telling jokes to split the sides of others, or causing mayhem with all the mischievous tools available.

The Humor and Hijinks festival is a true laugh riot if that’s your Sim’s thing, and if not, show up to buy swag or see how others act!

Not sure when it’s happening? Look for the signs located in the neighborhoods, or the bulletin board in your apartment’s common area. See you at the Humor and Hijinks Festival!

Monster Hunter Now's New Season Is Doing What Pokemon Go Won't

Monopoly go: karaoke clash rewards and milestones, honkai: star rail - best builds and light cones for firefly.

As part of the Summer of Sims event, The Sims 4 currently has its very own in-game music festival. It features performances from Bebe Rexha, Joy Oladokun, and Glass Animals' Dave Bayley. Your Sims can visit the event site and enjoy the festivities but there are a few steps you need to take to get there.

We take a look at how to get to Sims Sessions event, whom you can invite, and what you can expect to find. So get your rain boots ready as we head to Willow Creek for this new in-game experience.

When Does The Sims Session Event Take Place?

The Sims Sessions event runs from 10 am PT on June 29, until the same time on July 7, 2021. During this time you'll find the festival running every in-game Sunday.

How Do I Get To The Sims Session Event?

At 12.00 pm on Sunday, you'll get an in-game call asking if you want to head over to the event. If you accidentally miss this you can also head directly there by traveling to Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek between 12 pm and 12 am.

To enter the event head over to the right-hand side of the lot and you'll see signs along the path. Follow these down through the trees and the event site is in the top right-hand corner of the lot.

What Songs Are Performed At The Sims Session Event?

You'll see Sim versions of all three artists playing on the stage. Joy Oladokun plays Breathe Again, a powerful ballad, while Dave Bayley's Sim plays Glass Animals Heat Waves. The final act is Bebe Rexha who performs Sabotage from her Better Mistakes album.

All the songs are performed in Simlish by the artist's Sim. The performances take place over the course of the in-game evening and nighttime.

Can My Sim Participate In The Sims Session Event?

Sims can access the stage and piano outside of the performances, allowing you to create your own open mic type set up. However, during the main event, only the Sim performers can take to the stage.

Your Sims will be able to participate by getting hyped, dancing, and cheering on their favorite artists. They can also take photos of the event.

Is There Anything Else To Do At The Sims Session Event?

The festival offers a few different things to do. Here's what you'll find:

A Merchandise Stall

The stall offers a range of festival-appropriate items including tents, camping chairs, a guitar, a firepit, a chiller, and even a ball to kick around. You can use these to enjoy some downtown with the townies who attend the festival while waiting for the performances.

You'll also find t-shirts for the three artists as well as Summer of Sims and Sims Session branded t-shirts. These can be purchased by your Sims and you can change into them in the handy tents for some instant festival vibes.

A Coffee Stall

The Coffeeshop van sells a range of grab-and-go food items suitable for a festival including pizza slices. You'll be able to keep on top of your needs with ease so you won't miss any of the show.

A Random Stall

We may not be entirely sure why there's a Sim selling MySims statues or other random items from a table at the festival but every good event needs a stall selling something random, right? Take a chance and see what's there this week, since it appears to variable!

There is also a public bathroom you can use after you drink too much coffee, as well as some tents. The tents can be used by anyone and allow Sims to sleep, relax, change into their festival clothing, and even indulge in some sneaky woohoo .

Can I Attend The Sims Sessions Event Again?

Yes! The event will take place every in-game Sunday until July 7 at 10 am PT. Sims from any world can attend the event and is accessible from existing saves as well as new games. You can even take other Sims yours is friends with along to enjoy the fun.

A social worker in Peekskill, New York was attacked during a home visit and later died from her injuries, according to officials.

Police said Maria Coto, 56, was attacked during a home visit on South Street in the afternoon of May 14. 31-year-old Hasseem Jenkins was at the South Street location when police arrived on May 14 and was taken into custody, police said. Jenkins was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder and assault in the first degree, officials said.

"Maria was a dedicated employee of the Westchester County Department of Social Services, who was brutally attacked while selflessly performing her duties," said Westchester County Executive George Latimer. "It is enraging that someone whose life was devoted to helping others was viciously taken from her friends and family."

Jenkins is still in custody at the Westchester County Jail awaiting his next court appearance, according to police.

As a result of the attack, the county Department of Social Services has expanded the availability of security escorts for staff making home and community visits.

"This unforeseen and tragic incident has prompted us to take immediate action to protect our personnel from further harm while they perform their duties on behalf of the County of Westchester," Latimer said.

In a post on the store's Instagram page , owner Dionne Sims revealed that she plans to sell Black Garnet , which opened in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood in 2022 with the help of a $100,000 Neighborhood STAR grant from the city.

"I feel so content with what I've built, and so grateful to the people who've built it with me. It's with a heart filled to the brim with gratitude that I say I'm ready to pass this dream to the next person," wrote Sims. "This bookstore has the foundation to continue for years to come, and I realized that's what I wanted to accomplish."

Sims, who founded Black Garnet in 2020 and operated as an online and pop-up shop before opening in St. Paul, wrote that she plans to go back to school to prepare for a writing career. Her Instagram post includes a pitch for a hoped-for future owner of the store.

"Black Garnet Books is a manifestation of so many things that are bigger than me," wrote Sims, who has not responded to requests for comment. "Bigger than the very simple dream I had of making sure there's always a Black-owned bookstore in my home of Minnesota, a dream I know is shared by so many people here."

Interim books editor Chris Hewitt previously worked at the Pioneer Press in St. Paul, where he wrote about movies and theater.

Joe Biden’s L.A. Fundraiser Raises At Least $28 Million, Per Campaign

President Joe Biden ‘s star-filled fundraiser in Los Angeles this evening — an event featuring Barack Obama , George Clooney and Julia Roberts — has raised at least $28 million, according to a campaign official.

The figure surpasses the amount raised in March when Biden appeared with Obama and former President Bill Clinton at Radio City Music Hall. That event raised $26 million, according to the campaign.

Biden landed at LAX this morning, having traveled from the G7 summit in Italy. First Lady Jill Biden is traveling to Los Angeles later today.

Tonight’s event, at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, will feature Biden in conversation with Obama and Jimmy Kimmel . The event is a combination high dollar and low dollar fundraiser, with donors shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars for a ticket for choice seats and a reception, while the campaign has held a contest to field grassroots donations, with supporters entering with a chance to win a trip to attend.

Others on the bill tonight include Jason Bateman, Jack Black, Kathryn Hahn and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

La Cocina

“ La Cocina ,” the Rooney Mara-starring drama that premiered at the 2024 Berlinale, is among four feature films that will screen at the inaugural Croatian International Film Festival beginning Aug. 8.

The four-day event, set in the coastal city of Sibenik, will also feature 18 documentary and narrative shorts, giving the struggling independent film market an additional international venue to screen movies and launch careers.

Playstation state of play underscores muted release year ahead of summer game fest, box office: 'inside out 2' launches to $13 million in previews, the most of any 2024 movie, popular on variety.

Although she has spent the majority of her career working in the United States, Mische decided to launch CIFF during the writer and actors strikes in 2023.

“During that time I saw a lot of my friends become depressed,” says Mische. “With friends in New York and L.A., the topic of conversation was about how there was no work. I thought to myself, now is the time to create. I needed to figure something out.”

Last summer Mische traveled to Croatia to start planning CIFF.

“At first I got a lot of pushback,” she says. “People thought that I was being too ambitious. But I just started making phone calls and then put CIFF on FilmFreeway.com and we got over a hundred submissions. They were all great films, some starring A-list actors like like Rooney Mara.”

Films at CIFF, which has been authorized and will be sponsored by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the Croatian Audiovisual Center, will screen at historic venues across Sibenik, including the Square of the Republic of Croatia and the Barone Fortress, which is protected by UNESCO, United Nations’ educational, scientific and cultural organization.

Mische, along with 10 CIFF team members, narrowed down the 150 submissions from 30 countries to four feature films and 18 shorts, which include Rotha Moeng’s documentary “The Rubber Tappers” and three narratives shorts by second-time directors. In all, the lineup features films from 13 countries including the U.S., Ukraine, Mexico, Jordan and Nepal.

The theme of the first annual CIFF is awareness — about various topics including the world, identity and forward thinking. In addition to the 22 films screening at CIFF, the fest will feature panel discussions and the Student Film Corner, a place for college students in Croatia and neighboring countries to screen their thesis films.

“I decided to create the Student Film Corner to give students from the surrounding area an opportunity to talk to industry professionals and have access to conversations that they really wouldn’t have otherwise,” says Mische.

CIFF will take place after one of Croatia oldest and most prestigious film fests — Pula Film Festival, now in its 71st year, which gets underway on July 11. Five days after CIFF, the 30th annual Sarajevo Film Festival, the biggest showcase of Southeast European cinema, kicks off. With Croatia being a neighboring country of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mische hopes that in the future Sarajevo film fest attendees will first stop at CIFF.

“Croatia is an international stop that is a perfect place to visit in the summer,” she says. “There is great room for this festival to grow over the years and become something great.”

The finalized CIFF lineup will be announced in July.
