I was there two weeks ago my daughter bought a gift it didn't work out. We swapped it for something else that also didn't work out and so I came today to change it. It's worth noting that when we were there two weeks ago with my family The tow women who were working, they offered no alternative or gave any information about the boots and the product and how long it takes to break it in and just some of the things that would have been important to know for a novice Dr Marten wearer. I am happy to report that Justin and Leo were on duty today along with their amazing Male manager. I-didn't get his name collectively they were amazing - from my entrance to departure. so now I know that I need to do to break these boots in - for about 4-5 wears- i purchased at their suggestion the substance to soften the leather and as a result, I left a satisfied customer All organizations should be aware that this is the difference between good customer service, and people who are just phoning it in good job, Justin and Leo well done.

Now i don't shop at journeys EVER but i needed converse to be Rue for my Euphoria party. I signed up to journey via email and got $5 off my $25 or more order. When i walked into the store i was greeted what looked like the only worker and she was able to quickly grab my shoe since i knew what i needed and size. She ran me up and since i was with my kids she gave them stickers to perk them up. Service was good. Store seemed to also have some skater vibe shoes. Might come back to look for a pair for my daughter.

Where do I start? This is going to be very detailed and thorough. I came into Journeys 5/12/2021 around 5pm to look around but I noticed they had the boots I wanted! That was cool because it saves me a trip to BK and my partner and I are on our way to vacation so I wanted some new shoes. Our sales rep ( who I believed who's name is Jacqueline ( caucasian women with tattoos and greenish tips on her hair) we ask her to try on two size boots. She tells us we should get them a size down because you have " to break them in" I don't know what that means but I didn't want to do that. She was very micro aggressive and rolled her eyes after we told her what we wanted. Unfortunately they didn't have my size so I had to get my boots shipped. I opted for the one day shipping so I can have my boots in time for vaca.. guess what happened... she ordered the wrong size ( the size she thought was best) and I never received my boots. I had to contact Journeys and talk to the customer service managers. By this time, they recommend that I return to the store for a refund. Which I fully intend to do. My rep was so friendly and even gave me two discount codes. Today (5/15/2021) I call in at 12:11pm and the girl with tattoos picked up and I notice it was her on the phone so I asked her " is this the girl with the tats" she goes " yeah it is.. " I said " well you ordered my boots in the wrong size even after I told you I didn't want them" she goes OFF and starts yelling " well I told you what size to get " I get off the phone because I'm well heated and I'm just going to go to the store. I'm fumed and I just wanted my money back and not the boots. I get there and Lionel helps with my refund and the whole time we are recording because I feel uneasy back into this environment. He processes my refund and her comes the girl, by the register saying we're "big mad" Mind you, I have not ONCE look this girl way or anything . She's irrelevant and I don't need that energy. I get my refund and I asked Lionel for the store reps name because I'm gonna make a review, it's what I do! Anyhoo, he gets into a very aggressive manner and start saying I'm raising my voice. ( I have the whole video I was not mad at all) he pointing his fingers and I'm telling him I just want my crocs widget and I'm out. He's still going and going on.. basically yelling & chastising me. I ask him " may I please checkout, you're scaring me" he's keeping going and at this time my Apple Watch tells me my pressure and anxiety is up. I get my stuff and I'm headed out. As walking to the door the girl waits for me just to say " have a nice day and byeeeeee " in a snobbish tone. I never met someone who goes out there way to be seen, especially when you look ridiculous. I'll be taking care of this discrimination the right way. The products is good but RUN AWAY

Retailers and brands converged at the MACH Three conference in New York City to collaborate on the importance of flexible technological infrastructure to provide a better online and offline shopper journey. Over the past few years, retailers have been challenged to move away from legacy systems that do not provide the agility and flexibility to keep up with technological advances. As consumer expectations grow exponentially, retailers need to advance and offer solutions that enhance the retail experience from product development through the customer’s post-purchasing.

Composable Technology Is Driving Loyalty

Anca Iordanescu, vice-president of engineering, stores of the future for IKEA, and the co-founder of WomenInTech Alliance (Sweden) delivered the keynote speach at last year’s conference talking about the advancements that IKEA was making in delivering better in-store environment for its customers through technology. “We wanted to understand what technology we needed to attract customers to the store, deliver a personalized experience, and design these solutions with sustainability in mind,” said Iordanescu. This year, she helped to moderate the sessions at the conference which focused on composable technologies that allow for flexibility and speed. “With composable technology, we want to optimize costs but also build differentiated products that bring value to our customer base,” said Iordanescu.

Product Remains King

IT teams in retail have heavily focused on managing projects based on requests from various business constituents. However, a shift to focusing on products was evident with the thought leaders participating at the conference. The technology team needs to understand the products or services being offered and how the customer interacts with those products in order to build an infrastructure that supports the shopping journey.

Customer service teams are another means of providing important feedback for a retailer. “Keeping the customer service team close is key since they will be the ones handling the inquiries from the customer,” said Hannah Bennett, head of digital at Paul Smith.

Collaboration, A Common Theme

The need for all functional areas to work together was a key theme throughout the conference. While the IT function may hold the keys to technology developments, the only path to deliver to customer expectations is to work with all of the functional areas and be the gatekeeper for technology requests for building a cohesive customer journey.

“It is important to have trust and transparency with the various functions across the business,” said Debra Hua, product manager at Shoe Carnival. “I try to work for a better experience on our website so it is important to make sure we deliver that to the customer but it begins with working with our internal partners.” Hua referenced the Wild, Wild, West list of IT enhancement requests that retailers have been known to ask for from their IT departments. The job today is to cull through the requests and think about technological advancements holistically. In the past, retailers were forever chasing the shiny object, the newest tech, but today there are hundreds of shiny objects creating a blinding light that will stump innovation if not fully vetted by the business.

“Business stakeholders impact our business, especially in a privately held company. We focus on the clear why and have developed strong partnerships within the company which helps to mitigate challenges and feedback,” said Alison Grimes, product manager at Raymour & Flanigan.

Open and Best-Of-Breed Technology

As generative AI continues to grow in interest and intent, companies are understanding that building the technology stacks in-house becomes an insurmountable task. The answer is composable technology. Neiman Marcus Group (NMG) had to restructure its IT program to accommodate rapid changes within the company’s technological infrastructure. Neiman Marcus website was built on top of monolith websites and had only updated code changes twice monthly. Updates that were identified took more than a year to implement which meant by the time changes were made, they were often no longer relevant.

NMG had to restructure its people and product teams to identify issues and solve problems more quickly. Circle reporting was instituted (holacracy) where no one reports to anyone, there are no meetings, and no approvals needed for enhancements and bug fixes. Everyone is required to run the team and contribute with a focus on discipline and ROI.

The MACH Alliance is a not-for-profit industry body that advocates for open and best-of-breed enterprise technology ecosystems. MACH is an industry tech standard describing modern technology. The prerequisites to achieve this standard are Microservices-based, API-first, Cloud-native SaaS and Headless.
