Indie musician Jack Savoretti will perform in Cardiff next year in a huge one-off show. The chart-topping singer/songwriter has announced that he's playing Bute Park in May 2023 in an open-air performance including all his biggest hits.

Savoretti's career includes two UK number one albums - 2019's Singing to Strangers and 2021's Europiana. He released his first single, Without, back in 2006 before releasing his first album Between the Minds in 2007.

A tour with Corinne Bailey Rae and a debut solo tour in 2008 helped launch his career. He recently brought his Europiana Tour to Cardiff International Arena in March 2022.

"Nothing beats playing to a live audience, outside under the stars, which is why I can’t wait to see everyone in Cardiff next May," said Savoretti. "I’ll make it a show to remember."

Live Review: Jack Savoretti – 23rd June 2023 – Hampton Court Palace, London, UK

jack savoretti tour 2023 uk

Looking around at Thursday nights performance of Italian charmer, Jack Savoretti’s show in the historic confines of Hampton Court Palace, anyone looking at images or videos from the event would be forgiven for thinking it was the cold, dead of winter. As rain fell over a crowd dressed in cagoules and huddling partners for warmth, Savoretti did his best to keep the crowd warm through a powerful set as part of the years Hampton Court Festival series which sees the likes of Sheryl Crow, Sam Ryder and Jessie J form 2024’s star studded lineup.

We last caught Savoretti a couple of years back at London’s Eventim Apollo and ever since then we have been fans so were keen to catch the When We Were Young singer perform in such a gran, historic venue as Hampton Court Palace and he certainly did not let us down as he delivered a masterful set which touched on most of his career highlights as well as swooning the fans with a few romantic Italian numbers form his latest studio record, Miss Italia which was released in mid-May.

Opening with the dramatic Candlelight and dressed casually in a pair of tight jeans and an oversized, unbutton short, the musician was met with a lively cheer from a crowd that was made up of music lovers of older generations for the most part but how were as eager to help singe back to the singer as he often encourage – not that they needed any encouragement of course, as most were in very cheerful spirits despite the weather lashing down on them as they danced out in the open spaces of the venue.

Savoretti would also often encourage the crowd to get up on their feet and dance, orchestrating this during performances of the country-tinged We Are Bound , a hootenanny-style offering of Knock Knock and the bluesy Miss Italia . “We’re gonna pretend we’re somewhere really hot”, he told the audience during his performance of the latter as a way to keep the crowd warm and moving. But Londoners are used to this type of weather; Savoretti announcing “A London crowd is a sturdy crowd” ahead of his performance of Catapult .

When We Were Lovers was an obvious crowd pleaser with its up-tempo folk melodies and thumping rhythm while a closing section offering of Tie Me Down and a bouncy rendition of the singers funky Nile Rodgers collaboration, Who´s Hurting Who were met with thunderous applauses from the crowd.

With that unmistakable throaty Italian voice that could melt even the most staunch of listeners, Savoretti charmed the soaked crowd with emotionally charged ballads including the piano and violin led The Way You Said Goodbye, which carried a very orchestral energy to it – much like others within the set like the punchy What More Can I Do where Savoretti sat with acoustic guitar next to his bandmates playing piano, violin and double bass for the memorable highlight within the set.

With his undeniably casual and personable stage presence, many anecdotes were placed between songs and interaction with his fans, giving the audience a glimpse into his songwriting style and influences that led to the creation of his records and at one point posing on stage behind a younger punter taking a selfie and trying to capture the musician in the background.

Tender moments also came with heartfelt stories of performing the night before the D Day ceremonies ahead of his performance of Soldiers Eyes as well as a moving tribute to his father who passed away 2 years ago and a recounting of the grief the singer struggled with during this time, allowing the audience to see an even more vulnerable side to the star.

With many incredible performances having already taken place and still scheduled over the coming week as part of Hampton Court Festival, Jack’s  incredible performance will no doubt be the shining highlight for many.

The Wandering Hearts

Plus The Wandering Hearts The Wandering Hearts achieved their second consecutive #1 on the UK official Americana Chart as they built on the breakthrough success of 2018’s Wild Silence debut with last summer’s self-titled second album, recorded between Woodstock and Omaha with acclaimed producers such as Simone Felice, David Baron and Mike Mogis.

Arriving to a second wave of critical acclaim and again championed by Bob Harris at BBC Radio 2 (who previously awarded them his Breakthrough Artist at the UK Americana Awards), the album cemented the trio’s reputation as one of the leading lights in British Folk-Americana – as underlined by their further nomination for Album Of The Year at the UK Americana Awards 2022, alongside Yola and The Staves.

The only British act to debut at both the iconic Ryman Theatre and The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville in the same week, The Wandering Hearts have shared stages and tours across the UK and US with artists such as the late greats Tom Petty, John Prine and Justin Townes Earle, and Margo Price, Lukas Nelson, Robert Plant and Eagles.

Signed to Chrysalis Records for their third album, the band firstly will release an EP ‘Hesperus’ in May 2023. The new material puts sharp focus on their world-renowned three-part harmonies to explore their Folk-Rock influences, blending flavours that bring to mind Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac and contemporaries like Milk Carton Kids and First Aid Kit.

Jack Savoretti performing his Europiana Tour at The Royal Concert Hall Nottingham on Sunday 3rd April 2022

Images and Review by Kevin Cooper

Jack Savoretti came to the Royal Concert Hall on Sunday night on his sold out Europiana tour, and completely captivated the crowd with his gravelly, tender and passionate vocals.

Opening with new song I Remember Us he immediately showed his strong commanding voice. Backed by a hugely talented band which consisted of a guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboard player and violinist, they delivered a set list that contained some of his sombre ballads of which he has many and the more upbeat and often funky songs that he revels in.

There was the gorgeous love song What More Can I Do? written for his wife, followed by When We Were Lovers, which had the crowd singing along.

Candlelight was a real highlight with its cinematic mood, like Ennio Morricone doing a James Bond theme, which encapsulated the suave and sophisticated tone of the evening. Other highlights included Singing To Strangers which saw mobile phones light up the Hall as his honeysuckled vocals soared around for the beautiful and thoughtful Soldier’s Eyes.

The Way You Say Goodbye, is a simply incredible moving love song which saw the crowd hanging on his every word, before new song Secret Life upped the tempo with its infectious beats that had feet tapping. Who’s Hurting Who, a 70’s sounding disco song written with Nile Rodgers went down a treat before Catapult, a piano driven piece was so incredibly beautiful that it brought out all kinds of emotions.

More Than Ever had Savoretti’s vocals at their very best before the arm waving Home and Each And Every Moment brought the main set to a close. For the encore there was the surprising addition of You Don’t have To Say You Love Me, sung half in Italian and with such passion that it brought the crowd to their feet with spontaneous applause before Back Where I Belong left them begging for more.

There is no doubting that Savoretti has got better and better over time and the level of talent and showmanship that he brought to this performance was absolutely first class. He radiated his easy going charm throughout and exercised his distinctive husky vocals so it was no surprise that he had captivated this crowd from the off.

Jack Savoretti is a singer/songwriter hailing from London, England who was born on the 10th of October 1983. Since his debut in 2005 he has released four studio albums and has had several hits on the U.K indie charts, becoming one of the most acclaimed songwriters of his generation.

After his mother suggested that he channel his teenage passion for poetry into songwriting, Jack Savoretti spent the rest of his teenage years almost obsessively writing songs, describing his process as the way that he conversed with the world at large. The backlog that he created, and the sheer experience that it gave him, meant that he was in a recording studio writing his first album by the time he was 21. His very first single, 2006’s “Without” was almost immediately play listed by Radio 2 and got him noticed by Corinne Bailey Rae, who he toured with over Europe for the rest of the year. At just 22 years old, Savoretti released his debut album “Between The Minds” in March 2007, which was critically acclaimed but a slow seller, at least at first.

Ever since then, he’s continued to record and release acclaimed albums, particularly his 2012 third album “Before The Storm”, an album written after a particularly tumultuous period of his career where he nearly gave up music for good. “Before The Storm” reinvigorated interest in Savoretti and in 2014, he signed to Sony BMG for his follow up record, 2015’s “Written In Scars”. Savoretti is a songwriter par excellence, and with the folk-rock world at his feet, he comes highly recommended.

Live reviews

Having had comparisons with Bob Dylan, as well as Simon and Garfunkel thrown around, Jack Savoretti has a lot to live up to. He certainly has thoughtful, well written lyrics and very listenable songs but he perhaps lacks any real edge and innovation to warrant any real excitement that he may be the future of modern folk music. But nonetheless, what he does do, he does very well, offering solid, heartfelt music that is pleasing to the ear. When the backing music is stripped away, leaving Jack Savoretti to play alone with his guitar and raspy, tender vocals, his music has a better feel and is more emotive. However it is still not quite tear-jerking. Performing live, he is accompanied by a double bassist and another guitarist, which fleshes out his songs and makes them sound more expansive. He certainly performs well, garnering the attention of the audience, particularly, as mentioned before, in those quieter moments. "Not Worthy" and "For the Last Time" were highlights, with the latter given a rousing and passionate performance by Savoretti. At Montreux Jazz Festival, the stage was perhaps to big, with his sound feeling lost. Yet in a smaller venue I'd imagine his performance would have greater effect upon the audience.

osenn22’s profile image

Italian/English solo acoustic singer Jack Savoretti had an interesting upbringing between London, Switzerland and Italy. His multi-cultured background has clearly influenced his acoustic sounds and thoughtful lyrical voice. Although the musician only appeared on the circuit in 2007 with the debut album 'Between The Minds', he has already gained lofty comparisons to great artists including Simon & Garfunkel.

His live show is a great way of understanding this likeness as for an artist of only 30 years of age, he seems to have a wiseness and maturity about both himself and his music far beyond his years. In a similar way to fellow folk musician Laura Marling, Jack's music seems very well informed and he has a romantic, articulate songwriting manner. He engages the crowd throughout the show as he plays 'Before The Storm' in its entirety along with older tracks and a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Nobody 'Cept You'. Although Savoretti's music is not likely to hit the top 40 anytime soon, his albums have a quality and staying power that will outlast anything currently in the charts.

Went to see Jack Savoretti last night at Southend with my family and we can all say it was one of the best concerts we have ever been to see. We haven’t been able to stop talking about how much we enjoyed it. We even listened to the album again on the way home and I’ve been listening to it all day again.

We loved how Jack told us what inspired him to write some of the songs, (which were all very sweet) and now when you listen to the songs you can really understand the lyrics more and you connect to them more.

Jack Savoretti is definitely up there with some of the biggest names of people to see in concert. Truly a talented guy who really loves what he does, you can tell by the way he performs on the stage and has a smile the whole time he is singing. Makes the whole thing so much more pleasurable for everyone there when you can see the artist have a good time.

Would go and see Jack Savoretti many many more times. Would go again today if I could

The acoustic concert at the teatro le fenice was very different to the last time I saw jack at fibbers York last year. Then he was with his band. It was upbeat energetic and exciting. Last night was just as memorable, but a much more sedate and civilized affair. Jacks vocals were still amazing, and I was spellbound by his performance of catapult. His guests were fabulous in there own field. Kylie and Imelda were an added bonus. The only downside was that, naturally, being in Venice he spoke in Italian. Which of course, I am a little ashamed to say, I know very little. It would have been nice to be in on all the funny comments he obviously made. I did have vip tickets, and meeting the great man was wonderful. He was very gracious and friendly. And seemed to like my gift of scented candles. I wouldn't have missed it for the world, but may stick to gigs in English speaking countries from now on. Pam Banks. Proud to be an Amoretti.

...'Mr Savoretti' and the band (who equal in talent to the maestro himself!) are always amazing..performances in small and larger venues have never disappointed myself and the tribe of folks that follow Jack and the band.....and the tribe gets bigger, tickets are often sold out these days.Once seen live you really cannot get enough of the music, the songs and the authentic performances...When you speak to fans at the gigs they've often travelled miles to be there and been to more than one performance, myself and friends included there ! I have to say I love the smaller venues,up here in the north of u.k. and the guyz really 'pulled it out of the bag' at Fibbers in York...despite raging heat and a previous cancellation.

This is the 4th time I've seen Jack Savoretti live and it will not be the last! As my friend described it, his voice is 'sex'! He is mesmerising - he connects with his audience and is keen for us to know how much it means to him that we are there. He played all of our favourite songs and we were singing along and enjoying the atmosphere he created.

At one point, the show stopped when Jack noticed that an audience member had collapsed in the standing area - he gave the person his glass of water from onstage, which would appear to be a measure of what a genuine and big-hearted guy he is (though his songs would suggest otherwise)!

I was there with two friends and we all agreed we will be going back to see him again.

I was at Newcastle metro radio arena last night; I brought tickets for John Legend only because it gave me the chance to see you live again. Your performance didn't disappoint, you were brilliant.....my massive disappointment was that someone made the poor decision to give you only 30mins play time, I was gutted!! After seeing you in Edinburgh earlier this year & then missing out on tickets for Fibbers, York, I was really excited to see you in my home city. Just hoping that you will be back in Newcastle in your own right very soon.

Absolutely amazing. Great new songs performed brilliantly as ever by Jack and the guys. Helpful staff at the o2 academy Leeds. If I'm honest the venue could do with a bit of a refurbished sticky floors mainly. Would have liked a little longer on stage. With a bit more of the great songs we all know and love. I've enjoyed 2 hour gigs by Jack in the past. Overall not disappointed though definitely I'll be seeing Jack again.

Once again Jack was brilliant and especially at the Royal Concert Hall, great to see him such a big venue as he deserves so much to play there.

Every time I see him he gets better and better with his musicians last night the sound was magnificent especially the violinist the sound was breathtaking.Once again he had his followers from all over coming to see his brilliant night.

“Music is sacred.” Jack White announces three intimate 'pop up' shows in the UK this coming weekend

Jack White reveals last-minute plans for three British gigs

Jack White: How He Built An Empire From The Blues book cover

Jack White will play three intimate UK club shows this coming weekend.

Announced this morning, September 9, the shows will take place in London, Liverpool, and Brighton, with tickets going on sale to 'vault members' tomorrow (September 10) at 10am, and a general on-sale following at 1pm. The mini-tour will call at:

Sep 13: London Islington Assembly Hall Sep 14: Liverpool O2 Academy Sep 15: Brighton Chalk

You can sign up online for a shot at getting tickets. White recently revealed that he wouldn't be announcing tour dates in the traditional fashion , but would announce shows “as close to the show date as possible.”, adding “some shows we won’t even decide to do until that morning.” He also suggested that he and his band would “mostly be playing at small clubs, backyard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses.” In a poetic conclusion to his Instagram post, White continued, “I also want to walk through orchard fields and grab apples off of trees at will and fill my belly full of that fruit if the desire strikes me. I’m looking for that cool breeze you know?

“Lots of love and rock and roll to you all and you are blessed for giving that love to others, we hope that we see you out on the road soon, if not let’s get coffee and a slice of pie sometime? Music is sacred.”

The spontaneous nature of the No Name tour is in keeping with the Detroit-born musician's unusual release strategy for his new album No Name .

The album made headlines in July when staff at White's Third Man Records shops slipped 'white label' copies of the record, with no information about what was actually on the vinyl, into the bags of customers, alongside their purchases.

A statement subsequently announcing an 'official' release on August 2 noted, “With the surprise unveiling of  No Name , via a giveaway with purchase in Third Man stores on July 19th, fans proved that the rumblings of something mysterious can grow into the beautiful experience of a community sharing the excitement and energy of music and art.”
