Ram makes some impressive affordable golf gear, including the excellent FX77 irons , and the G-Force golf club set is another example. There are three options depending on the age of your child, each one including more clubs as the age range gets higher. The 4-6 years set we tested comes with four clubs - a driver, 7-iron, 9-iron and putter - housed in a nifty, feature-packed stand bag (more on that later).

The clubs are lightweight and well built, featuring responsive graphite shafts and tacky wrap-style grips. The 29” driver even comes with a headcover and 14° of loft to help maximise launch and carry. It has a loud, tinny sound to it and the white crown gives it a premium look, although I’d be concerned about how pristine this will look after a range session with an inconsistent junior that has limited spacial awareness. Performance wise, there’s a good amount of pop off the face to reward a centred strike and bring a smile to your child’s face and the tacky nature of the grip definitely helps them keep a firm hold of the club for added control.

The two cavity back irons have large, oversized heads, plenty of offset and nice wide soles that help with launch and turf interaction. The faces are tall enough for balls to be hit off a tee and the perimeter weighting provides a feeling of solidity and robustness to the strike. Just like the best golf irons , these irons from Ram seem to make the game easier, placing them among the best golf sets for kids .

The putter also impressed us. The grip is made of the same material as the other clubs in the bag but has a putter-specific shape to it, which gives your child the introduction to a stroke with less wrist action. The face has grooves, which dull down the sound from the firm material on the face and the contrasting white and black sections on the flange definitely help with alignment.

As impressive as the clubs are, arguably the stand-out product (pardon the pun) from this set is the stand bag itself. It comes with six pockets, including a semi insulated drinks pocket, an external umbrella holder, dual shoulder straps and a Velcro glove tab. The legs automatically deploy when pushed to the ground and there’s even a rain hood included to keep the clubs dry in a deluge. Housing the clubs is a five-way top, which seems overkill for four clubs but it allows you to add new ones, like a hybrid or sand wedge, when the time is right. The zips aren’t waterproof, but the fabric does a good job at keeping water at bay and overall, it has proven to be durable and intuitive so far.

RAM Golf Clubs Review – Who Makes Them? Are They Any Good? – Are They A Good Brand?

RAM Golf may be a brand that you are familiar with if you have been playing for a long time. Although RAM may have lost some prestige by discontinuing their pro-level golf clubs, they are still around and making clubs for the everyday player.

RAM Golf took a path that very few major golf club manufacturers take. They are one of the more interesting golf club manufacturing companies. Today, they are known for making affordable golf clubs that focus on forgiveness and ease of use.

But that wasn’t always the case. RAM began in post WWII United States in Chicago. They began making clubs by hand in a small shop in Chicago’s west side. Back then, they were making club components for larger companies like MacGregor.

Eventually though, they began making clubs for golf great Tom Watson. With Watson’s success, the small company was prompted to start making clubs under their own flag. The small operation officially became known as RAM Golf in 1967.

Though the company has been parted out in modern times, the RAM Golf brand is still alive and strong. In fact, manufacturing operations for RAM Golf are still based in Chicago.

RAM Golf is one of the oldest golf club manufacturing companies in the United States. But are they still a good brand? Are their clubs worthwhile in 2022? Let’s take a look at some of RAM Golf’s most notable clubs and complete sets.

The RAM Accubar complete set comes with a 460cc driver, a 3-wood, 2 hybrids (24 and 27 degrees) irons 6-SW and a mallet-style putter. For our money, the hybrids and the irons are the best clubs in this set.

The hybrids are incredibly forgiving and we like the fact that you get two of them so gapping between the 3-wood and the 6-iron is seamless. The irons are cavity back with stainless steel construction so they have a solid feel and resist twisting very well.

You get a stand bag with the set which costs just under $300. The set is clearly intended for beginners and high handicappers but really provides value for those types of players. You can get this set in all-graphite or graphite woods and steel-shafted irons. They are only available right-handed though.

#2. – Ram Golf FX Stainless Steel Iron Set – Best RAM Irons

• Stainless steel construction

The Ram Golf FX Stainless Steel Iron Set can be had for about $250 and includes irons 4-PW. These are cavity back irons so they are designed to increase forgiveness and promote high launch.

When we tested these irons, we were impressed at the apex heights they were producing. While the distance wasn’t much to write home about (an average of 149 yards with the 7-iron), the forgiveness was amazing.

The Ram Golf FX Stainless Steel Iron Set features oversized heads so it’s very easy for even beginners to find the sweet spot after just a couple of swings. The Ram Golf FX Stainless Steel Iron Set is available with both graphite and steel shafts but only standard length.

• Very forgiving
• Solid sound on impact
• Great apex height
• Not the longest irons on the market

#3. – ram golf pro spin 3 wedge set – best ram wedges.

The Pro Spin wedges by RAM Golf feature really nice grooves that allow for better spin control. In fact, we would say that the groove design rivals that of more expensive, “premium” wedges made by bigger companies.

The Pro Spin wedges feature stainless steel heads which, if nothing else, helps resist twisting. These wedges feel very stable and provide enough launch to get you over traps and bunkers as well.

You can choose from a 52 degree gap wedge, a 56 degree sand wedge or a 60 degree lob wedge. Of course, you have the option to buy the whole set if you are particularly confident in your long game.

If you are having trouble with traditional irons, you might want to look into hybrid irons. In fact, you may want to replace all of your irons with hybrid irons. The Ram Golf Laser Hybrid Irons Set is for high handicappers who want better performance from their irons.

They have a full hybrid design which means they have thick soles and reassuring top lines. The Ram Golf Laser Hybrid Irons also have very generous sweet spots so they are incredibly forgiving.

Our only gripe with these irons is that they launch pretty low. You can choose from graphite or steel shafts in senior or regular flex.

The Ram Golf EZ3 Ladies Petite Golf Clubs Set includes a 460cc driver, 3-wood, 21 degree hybrid, irons 5-PW and a mallet putter. We really liked the balance and feel of the mallet putter and the irons sport deep cavity backs for enhanced forgiveness.

They are only available with graphite shafts but that will actually be handy for lady golfers seeking a more comfortable impact and better flex. This set would be good for lady golfers seeking a balance of feel and forgiveness.

• Only one hybrid

• 14 degree driver
• Lightweight shafts

You can get the Ram Golf Junior G-Force Boys set with a driver ,5-hybrid, irons 7-9, 56 degree wedge and a putter. The set also includes a stand bag. What we really liked about the set is that all the clubs were lightweight which is exactly what junior players need.

Also, every club in the set launches high which is a great match for the slow swing speeds of junior players. This would be a great starter set for your child or the golf-loving youngster in your life.

• Titanium composite head

Not only is this one of RAM Golf’s most affordable drivers; it’s one of the best if you’re having trouble with a slice. You can see the offset at address and this driver will really help you correct the face at impact for straighter shots.

It has a nice deep sound thanks to the quality titanium composite high and it resists twisting very well. It comes stock with a graphite shaft and you can choose from 10 or 12 degree versions.

• Improves accuracy

#8. – Ram Golf FX Hybrid Driving Iron – Best Driving Iron

• Black finish

If you’re interested in more distance on your 2nd (or maybe even your drive) shot, the Ram Golf FX Hybrid Driving Iron may be a good choice for you. It has a large footprint but still offers great flight control and the accuracy you would expect from an iron.

You can choose from 21 or 19 degrees with a graphite or steel shaft. The lateral forgiveness of this iron is incredible – even our far toe shots were flying straight and maintaining good ball speed.

When you top the ball, you do lose a good amount of ball speed; but the same is true of almost any driving iron. Overall you get great distance and a controllable flight from the Ram Golf FX Hybrid Driving Iron.

#9. – ram golf laser black milled face mallet putter – best putter.

Our whole testing crew really liked the Ram Golf Laser Black Milled Face Mallet Putter. From our low to high handicappers, everyone remarked at how well-balanced thisputter felt. The milled face promotes an almost immediate forward roll and incredibly smooth feel.

The vertical and perpendicular alignment markers also help to find your intended line and stick to it. This putter feels really nice all the way to your follow-through and it is very forgiving. More weight has been moved to the perimeter to increase MOI.

That means your ball will be more likely to stay on-line even if you miss the center of the face.

The RAM Golf FX Deluxe Golf Cart Bag features a padded shoulder strap, velcro glove patch, velour-lined valuables pocket, towel buckle and 9.5” diameter top divider. This would be a great bag for anyone that regularly plays in wet conditions because all of the pockets are waterproof and it includes a matching rain hood.

Keep in mind that this is a cart bag though; but at least the shoulder straps are padded comfortably. There are 2 large apparel pockets on either side of the bag plus an insulated cooler pouch for your drinks.

There is also a dedicated putter well that can accommodate jumbo grips. Overall this is a very durable bag that has the features of a more expensive bag.

The RAM Golf Ultimate Hard-Sided Travel Cover would be a good choice for you if you travel with your clubs a lot and want to secure them in the safest way possible. The interior compression straps hold your bag tightly to the padded interior.

The outer shell is made from ABS reinforced plastic and is very durable. The 360 degree swivel wheels makes it easy to wheel this bag through the terminal as well. It even has a TSA digital lock so security won’t be an issue.

The RAM Golf Ultimate Hard-Sided Travel Cover works with both stand and cart bags. It also has a carrying handle in the middle.

This is a very versatile bag  that would be great for anyone who wants the option to switch to a pull cart at any time. The RAM Golf Push/Pull 3-Wheel Golf Cart has a 360 degree swivel front wheel that can be locked so that it operates like a pull cart.

Theis cart also features an adjustable (angle and height) handle, drink holder, tee and ball compartment, scorecard holder, pencil holder and a nylon storage pouch under the handle.

• Holds bags securely
• Doesn’t fold up very small

Who Are Ram Clubs For?

For the most part, RAM Golf makes clubs for beginners and high handicappers in 2022.

Are They Good For Beginners?

Yes. In fact, most of RAM Golf’s clubs are made with beginners in mind. They tend to be forgiving and easy to swing with.

Are They Good for Seniors?

Unfortunately, they don’t make a lot of clubs that are available in senior flex so they may not be great for seniors.

Do Any Pros Use Ram Clubs?

Not anymore but RAM Pros of old have included Gary Player, Tom Watson, Ray Floyd, Nancy Lopez, Calvin Peete and Nick Price.

Final Assessment

You’re not going to find premium materials like Maraging Steel and carbon fiber on RAM clubs. However, what they lack in premium materials they make up for in forgiveness, playability and affordability.

These aren’t the clubs you will use as you get your handicap down to single digits; but it’s clear that RAm still has something of value to offer beginners and high handicappers. Plus, RAM clubs prove that you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg on beginner clubs that will actually help you improve.
