American Express has made great strides with its outstanding Centurion Lounge. What started as a small lounge at DFW has grown to 9 havens across the globe.

Centurion Lounges are extremely popular, which had resulted in complaints of overcrowding — but this location was renovated and relocated in 2018 and is bigger and better than ever.

Let’s dig into all the details of what you’ll experience when you set foot in the DFW Centurion Lounge.

The Centurion Lounge is located near the previous location in Terminal D at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) — across gate 12 above the D15 security checkpoint .

Go through the security checkpoint, turn left, and you will see a distinctive blue wall entrance. There is an elevator to the lounge which takes you behind the reception desk. The lounge is almost 13,000 square feet , which is significantly larger than the previous one was at 9,000 square feet.

For those arriving or departing from another terminal, the Sky Train is nearby, and Terminal D is walkable from other terminals as well. Terminal D is great for long layovers since it’s much larger with more lounges and amenities.

As a reminder, here are the locations of all the American Express Centurion Lounges around the U.S. :

When accessing the lounge, passengers need to hold a specific American Express card:

  • The Platinum Card ® from American Express
  • The Business Platinum Card ® from American Express
  • Centurion Card ® from American Express
  • Delta SkyMiles ® Reserve American Express Card (when you book your Delta flight with your Delta Reserve card)
  • Delta SkyMiles ® Reserve Business American Express Card (when you book your Delta flight with your Delta Reserve Business card)

This includes all cards of these varieties issued in any country worldwide. In addition to one of the cards above, you’ll also need to present a valid boarding pass showing confirmed same-day air travel reservations and a valid government-issued I.D.

There are 2 important rules for access that will affect all travelers, no matter the card you used to gain entry:

  • You cannot enter the lounge more than 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight , if originating. So, if your flight leaves at 10 a.m., you cannot enter earlier than 7 a.m.
  • You cannot use the lounge upon arrival , only upon departure, if the city where the lounge is located is your final destination. If you’re flying from New York City to Dallas, and Dallas is your final destination, you cannot use the lounge upon landing.
  • You can, however, use the lounge on connecting itineraries, and at any point during the connection at the connection city, regardless of the 3-hour rule.

Lounge Guest Policy

  • Amex Platinum card and Amex Business Platinum cardmembers may enter with up to 2 complimentary guests if they have spent $75,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year. Otherwise, a guest day pass can be purchased for $50 per adult or $30 per child between the ages of 2 and 17.
  • Centurion cardmembers may enter with up to 2 guests or immediate family (spouse or domestic partner, and children under 18) at no additional charge.
  • Delta Reserve cardholders may bring up to 2 guests at a per-visit rate of $50 per person, per location.
  • Amex Platinum card, Amex Business Platinum card, and Centurion cardmembers may purchase a day pass for any additional guests for $50.

The lounge opens at 5:30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m., but the spa closes at 8 p.m.

DFW Centurion Lounge Seating

The lounge is rectangular, and the interior design is amazing, with an attractive and unique look. There are 2 wings in the lounge: right and left.

In the left wing , you’ll find the dining area and a bar, with a wide variety of seating to fit solo travelers, couples, and groups. This side is best for people with luggage and families. Many seating options have power outlets near the windows, so you can eat as you charge your devices, too.

The bar and dining area is spacious and the location of the food is very convenient — it prevents a line from forming into the otherwise main hallway leading into the lounge. Past the dining area is another seating place with conference tables near the business center.

On the right side , there are some additional seats and a coffee station, as well as a “nap” area with more lounge-style chairs. However, even these seats aren’t entirely private — if you’re concerned about noise, this probably isn’t the best place to rest.

The shower rooms are also in the right wing.

DFW Centurion Lounge Buffet

DFW’s Centurion Lounge has a full buffet that is accompanied by exotic food from different parts of the world, which rotates on a seasonal basis. Light snacks are also available, so you’ll have a wide variety of food to choose from.

The food options are usually pretty mouthwatering — if you like experiencing different types of food, this is DFW’s best airline lounge by far . And this is definitely the best place for foodies, thanks to the rotation of celebrity chef offerings sometimes available.

You’ll find a welcoming and fun atmosphere at the bar, which has a long granite countertop and several bar-top seats. Standing tables are nearby for those who want to socialize as they enjoy their drinks.

The cocktail menu is a definite upgrade from your traditional airline lounge (such as the nearby Admirals Club ). If you love fun drinks, you’ll be tempted to have a taste of at least 5 of them! But they also have beer on tap, sparkling wine, vodka, and other options.

DFW Centurion Lounge Bar

Per American Express, here’s what’s on offer inside the DFW Centurion Lounge:

  • Computer bar
  • Conference space
  • Family room
  • Fresh seasonal fare
  • High-speed Wi-Fi
  • Large, flat-screen TVs
  • Member Services desk
  • Premium bar
  • Print, fax, and copy services
  • Semi-private workspaces
  • Shower suite

Bottom Line: The best benefits of the Centurion Lounge are the upgraded food, shower facilities, and free spa treatments.

As you enter the lounge, you’ll get a business card with Wi-Fi information. You can use the complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi for work or play — it’s actually pretty fast, especially considering the number of travelers that can be packed into the lounge.

DFW Centurion Lounge Exhale Spa

To book a spa appointment at the reception desk, you just need to fill out a form with an emergency contact. The team in the spa is amazing and accommodating — they offer high-quality services and let you choose the products you want.

And the prices are wallet-friendly, especially since most of the simple treatments are included with your visit! Here’s a list of services that are complimentary, according to Exhale (the company that runs the spa):

  • Flow Chair Massage — The signature Exhale massage, using slow pressure throughout your body
  • Deep Tissue Chair Massage — Great for relieving pain throughout the body
  • Fusion Chair Massage — Relax in one of Exhale’s massage chairs
  • Get Glowing — Includes a deep cleanse and exfoliating mask
  • Soothe + Treat — Includes a deep cleanse and  acne treatment
  • Red-Eye Ready — Includes a deep clean of the face, plus the application of creams (perfect for overnight travel)
  • Perfectly Polished — For ladies who want a manicure
  • Perfectly Groomed — For both ladies and gents to buff up cuticles and ensure a clean set of hands

To take a shower, you have to first check in at the reception desk and a team member will either unlock an empty room or place you on a waiting list. The showers are equipped with towels and soaps, so you don’t need to bring anything extra.

There are not, perhaps, enough restrooms in this lounge given its size. In the men’s bathroom, for instance, there are only 2 stalls and 2 urinals — and there is generally a wait to use them.

Conference Space

As you enter the lounge and turn left, you’ll notice a small meeting facility at the end of the hall. The room is equipped with a circular conference table and chairs surrounding it, with a phone in the corner and pads of paper and pens in the middle. On the wall, a television displays the daily news, although you’re free to change this, for sure.

There’s no fee to use the conference facility itself, however, it is first come, first serve and can be reserved by speaking with one of the Member Services agents at the front desk.

Generally, the room is limited to an hour of usage, though can be extended or reserved for longer if there isn’t a wait.

Family Room

For the young at heart, there’s actually a kids’ play room located within the lounge — a great idea to keep the noisy young ones from disturbing those working in the rest of the lounge.

The small kids’ area is equipped with fun themed wallpaper, colored stools, and a mix of books, games, and small toys to keep one occupied.

The room doesn’t need to be reserved — you can simply step inside and let your child play, though you do need to remain around for adult supervision.

This lounge is by far the best one in Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and it’s definitely the way to go when you’ve got a layover long enough to enjoy the food and amenities inside.

Holding an eligible Amex card is the simplest way to gain entry — the Amex Platinum card is a must-have card if you value premium lounge access .

A single Visit permits usage of Delta Sky Club(s) in multiple airports during the 24-hour period. If travel exceeds 24 hours from the first Delta Sky Club, then a second Visit will be deducted if entering the Delta Sky Club or using Grab and Go more than 24 hours after the first entry. Eligible Platinum Card Members may not access the Club or a Grab and Go location in the three hours from the time of previous Grab and Go usage at the same airport. Eligible purchases made by any Additional Card Members on the Eligible Platinum Card Account will contribute to the Purchase Requirement. If a Card Member upgrades or downgrades from a different American Express Card to an Eligible Platinum Card, eligible purchases made on the prior Card Account will count toward the Purchase Requirement. Delta reserves the right to revoke Unlimited Delta Sky Club Access if you return, reverse or charge back eligible purchases in a way that reduces your eligible spend below the Purchase Requirement for the calendar year. If Delta and/or American Express determine that you have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this Delta Sky Club Access Benefit in any way or that you intend to do so, Visits may be deducted from your account and/or Unlimited Delta Sky Club Access revoked.

One of the top 10 most-populated areas in the U.S., the Dallas-Fort Worth area has a lot to offer out-of-towners. Live music in the Deep Ellum district, tours of local distilleries, Texas barbecue, a downtown architecture tour and live performances in the Arts District are a few of the experiences that attract visitors. You can also stop by Six Flags Over Texas, AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) and the Katy Trail, a former abandoned railroad line that is now a paved trail.

Lean on travel rewards programs to make your vacation logistics more affordable. Here’s how to travel to Dallas-Fort Worth on points and miles.

Getting to Dallas-Fort Worth

Nearest airports.

As you’re starting to think about booking an affordable Dallas-Fort Worth trip, note that two airports serve the area:

DFW: Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (20 miles from the Dallas city center).

DAL: Dallas Love Field Airport (7 miles from the Dallas city center).

Though it’s farther away, Dallas-Fort Worth International offers more flights — about 1,850 per day versus Love Field’s 600 flights per day. From either airport, public transportation is relatively limited, so a rideshare or rental car are generally the best ways to get to the city centers.

Major airlines flying to Dallas-Fort Worth

American Airlines and Southwest Airlines are both headquartered in Texas. This offers travelers the ability to fly to many domestic and international destinations with nonstop flights.

American Airlines – Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

Southwest Airlines – Dallas Love Field.

However, most major domestic carriers fly regularly into and out of the city. No matter your origin and preferred airline, you should be able to find a flight that works for you.

Flying to Dallas-Fort Worth on points and miles

You can book a nonstop flight from most U.S. cities to either Dallas-Fort Worth or Dallas Love Field. Here's how some redemption opportunities typically look.

American Airlines

For American Airlines flights less than 500 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth, using 7,500 AAdvantage miles to fly economy or 15,000 American miles to fly business class is one of your best options.

For flights up to about 1,150 miles in distance, it pays to have British Airways Avios. It often costs 9,000 Avios to book an economy flight to DFW (or 16,500 Avios to fly business class) on American Airlines due to the airlines' partnership .

Southwest Airlines

For Southwest, the number of Rapid Rewards points you need to book a flight is tied to the cash cost of the flight. Generally, you’ll need 5,000 to 10,000 points to book a one-way flight from a Southwest hub, like Chicago-Midway, to the Dallas area.

Delta Air Lines

Delta SkyMiles prices vary, but often you can fly from a Delta hub city, like Los Angeles, New York-JFK or Atlanta, starting at around 5,000 SkyMiles each way in economy. If you have Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles , you can use them to book a flight on Delta. Expect to use about 11,500 to 14,500 Flying Blue miles for a Delta economy ticket, or 30,000 to 36,000 miles for a business class flight from a Delta hub city, like Atlanta.

United Airlines

To fly United to the Dallas area, consider using United’s own MileagePlus miles or Air Canada Aeroplan points , Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles , Avianca LifeMiles or Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles .

Choosing the best airport lounge at DFW — and how you can get inside

Andrew Kunesh

Here in the U.S., you'd be hard-pressed to find an airport with more diverse lounge options than Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) .

From American Express and Capital One to various U.S. airlines and unique Priority Pass options, this airport is chock-full of great choices that range from standard airport lounges to private napping suites and even a video game room.

So if you find yourself on a layover with time to spare in Dallas, you're in luck. Depending on your lounge access credentials (many popular rewards credit cards can get you in), you could spend an entire afternoon lounge hopping. But maybe you need to just pick the best lounge for your situation and set up shop.

Either way, TPG has you covered. Four TPG staffers flew through Dallas on various trips and collectively sampled 13 different DFW lounges thanks to access provided by their credit cards or elite status.

Here, we break down the experience in each lounge in an effort to help you find which is best for your next trip.

Get the latest points, miles and travel news by signing up for TPG's free daily newsletter .

Capital One Lounge (near D22)

american express travel dallas

The Capital One Lounge in DFW — near Gate D22, and in the same part of the concourse as the American Airlines Flagship Lounge — opened in late 2021. It offers great hot and grab-and-go food, a full bar and ample seating. If that sounds idyllic for an airport lounge, it pretty much is.

On the day TPG's Summer Hull visited in early December 2021, there was a small event going on to allow some airport staff to experience the lounge. But even with that event, the space wasn't overcrowded or the food picked over in any way.

There are multiple different sitting areas in a horseshoe around the center of the lounge, where the individual small plates are located. The Capital One Lounge also offers a Peloton room, a relaxation room and a shower suite.

american express travel dallas

While the physical space is quite nice, it's the food and beverages that make the Capital One Lounge incredibly tough for its competitors to beat — or even meet.

From macaroni and cheese with bacon to bibimbap, a beet salad, brownies and a chicken pot pie, there were ample selections for in-lounge culinary enjoyment.

american express travel dallas

If you need to just grab something to eat on the go, you can do that, too. There's an assortment of sandwiches, salads, yogurts, beverages and more available near the entrance.

american express travel dallas

How to get access to the Capital One Lounge

Anyone can pay $65 for a lounge visit. But better yet, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Spark Miles for Business will get you two complimentary lounge visits per calendar year. Additional visits can be purchased for $45 apiece if you have one of those cards and have used up your two included annual visits.

If you want to be a frequent Capital One Lounge visitor, however, you'll probably want the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card , which gets you and up to two guests per visit unlimited access.

Finally, note that several airlines partner with the Capital One Lounge to offer lounge access to select premium cabin and elite passengers.

American Airlines Admirals Club (near D24)

american express travel dallas

From small to huge, American Airlines Admirals Clubs tend to offer consistency. And American has an Admirals Club in every DFW terminal . Near the end of 2021, TPG's Katie Genter visited the Admirals Club near Gate D24 to check out this lounge's offerings.

There is ample seating, including typical lounge seating, bar seating, desk seating with office chairs, table seating and a TV room. There is also a small children's room.

american express travel dallas

Like all Admirals Clubs, this location offers complimentary snacks and drinks and a full-service bar.

During her visit, afternoon snacks were offered, including soups, a mezze selection, spinach and artichoke dip, naan bread, salads, cheese cubes, snack mixes and a selection of desserts. There was also more substantial food and higher-quality drinks available for purchase from a menu.

american express travel dallas

This lounge also offers complimentary Wi-Fi. During her visit, the Wi-Fi tested at 9.94 Mbps download and 10.07 Mbps upload speeds. And Katie reports there were an adequate number of toilet stalls and sinks in the women's restroom.

american express travel dallas

However, Katie only stayed in the Admirals Club for about an hour before heading to the nearby Capital One Lounge. She likes the Capital One Lounge due to its meal-worthy complimentary dining options and smaller crowds (at least for now).

How to get access to the Admirals Club

You can access all Admirals Clubs with the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® (see rates and fees ) as long as you're flying American that same day. Plus, you can bring up to two guests if they are also flying American.

Alternatively, you can buy a single-visit pass for $79 or 7,900 miles. Or, if you plan to visit Admirals Clubs frequently, you can buy an Admirals Club membership. Annual membership rates vary based on your current AAdvantage elite status and whether you are a new member or a renewing member. But, rates start at $700 for an individual membership and $1,500 for a household membership.

Finally, Oneworld elite members and passengers in premium cabins may get access when flying on qualifying itineraries. See this page on American's website for more details.

American Airlines Admirals Club (between C19 and C20)

american express travel dallas

TPG's Clint Henderson took a tour of the Admirals Club in Terminal C and called it "a full throwback to the 1990s." Henderson said, "The Terminal C space looks like the lounges from the '90s movie 'Up in the Air.'"

american express travel dallas

The lounge is massive and didn't feel too crowded, but Clint said he felt a bit ripped off paying $59 for a one-day pass. That's because the food offerings were pretty grim. You'll find reheated soups, cheese cubes, carrots, celery, a spinach dip and some prepackaged side salads. There are also apples and oranges wrapped in cellophane.

american express travel dallas

The one thing the food offerings do have going for them is the trays of cookies. Honorable mention goes to the chef bar where you can get guacamole and chips during certain hours of the day, though this wasn't available when Clint visited.

american express travel dallas

The other thing people like about this lounge is the bar, which is always bustling. In fact, there are complaints the lines at the bar can be exceedingly long though that wasn't the case when Clint was there.

american express travel dallas

Service wasn't especially friendly, but the agents at the check-in counter were nice. If you like space, this is the lounge for you, with multiple seating areas and styles of seats (no lie-flat couches though).

american express travel dallas

Wi-Fi is lightning fast, clocking in at 19.5 Mbps for downloads and 19.3 Mbps for uploads.

american express travel dallas

There is also a large business center with private booths for working and even a printer with a fax machine (I love the '90s!). We do love the Eames-style lounge chairs, though the rest of the furniture is pretty dated.

american express travel dallas

Clint said, "I'd skip this lounge next time, and head instead to the one in Terminal D – American's premium lounge offering , and a nicer experience overall."

American Airlines Admirals Club (between B3 and B4)

american express travel dallas

Katie visited the Admirals Club in Terminal B between gates B3 and B4 in June 2022. This lounge is near where the walkway from Terminal D reaches Terminal B. If you're looking for tucked-away, quiet cubicles to work in, the Terminal B Admirals Club may provide just what you need.

american express travel dallas

The rest of the seating is in one large room with a raised ceiling. But the seating feels packed in and the space is rather dark.

american express travel dallas

There's a bar at the end of the large room. The drink options are similar to what you'd find in most Admirals Clubs — plenty of house drinks to choose from, as well as some premium options that carry a surcharge.

american express travel dallas

Just before you get to the bar, there's a selection of snacks in a corner. There are the same snacks Clint and Katie reported above when they visited other DFW Admirals Clubs in late 2021. There was also a make-your-own taco bar with tortillas, ground beef, beans, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo and sour cream at this lounge when Katie visited in June 2022.

american express travel dallas

There is Wi-Fi in the lounge. When Katie did a speed test in the business center, she found 9.90 Mbps download and 9.91 Mbps upload speeds. There are also several conference rooms you can rent and spacious bathrooms. However, you should know that there's no kids room.

american express travel dallas

Like Clint and the Terminal C Admirals Club, Katie would recommend skipping the Terminal B Admirals Club in favor of the one in Terminal D (or the Centurion Lounge, American Flagship Lounge or Capital One Lounge, if you have access to any of these).

American Airlines Flagship Lounge (between D21 and D22)

american express travel dallas

The American Airlines Flagship Lounge in Dallas reopened in March 2022 after closing during the coronavirus pandemic. This lounge is located in Terminal D between gates D21 and D22, adjacent to the Capital One Lounge.

The lounge is huge, with many different types of seating. Near the entrance, you'll find the buffet and a variety of tables and counters appropriate for eating or working. Katie says she particularly enjoys the counters by the window, which offer views of the tarmac.

american express travel dallas

Speaking of the buffet, American's Flagship Lounges offer a buffet of similar quality to Amex Centurion lounges, but with a much wider variety. You'll find sushi before the flights to Asia depart, and Katie loved the housemade chips. The buffet is designed for travelers to have a meal, not just a snack.

american express travel dallas

There's also a huge drink selection — and it's all self-serve (besides the Champagne station as you enter the lounge, which is usually staffed). Whether you want to drink coffee, sparkling water, wine, Champagne or a mixed drink, it's all available here.

american express travel dallas

Walking farther into the lounge, you'll find quads of chairs by the windows, the Flagship First Dining room, a counter of workstations with dividers between the seats, a staffed customer service desk, shower rooms, bathrooms, a snack bar, a video room and a quiet room.

american express travel dallas

Whether you want to take a nap, relax or work, you'll likely find a spot that works well for you. And best of all, there are power outlets at almost every seat in the lounge. Katie tested the Wi-Fi during her June 2020 visit and found 9.97 Mbps download and 9.89 Mbps upload speeds.

Katie says she has trouble choosing between the Capital One Lounge and American's Flagship Lounge when flying through Dallas and has access to both. She gives a slight edge to the Flagship Lounge, since it has better working space, self-serve drinks and a wider variety of food. But it's much more feasible for most travelers to access the Capital One Lounge than the Flagship Lounge.

How to get access to the American Airlines Flagship Lounge

Unlike the other lounges discussed in this story, there's no way to get American Airlines Flagship Lounge access as a credit card benefit.

But, you can purchase access for $150 or 15,000 AAdvantage miles per person at open Flagship Lounge locations if space permits. You can only purchase a single-visit pass if you are 21 years of age or older and are traveling the same day on a flight marketed or operated by American, or marketed and operated by any Oneworld airline.

You may also have access when flying on select first- or business-class tickets. American Airlines AAdvantage and Alaska MileagePlan elite members have access when traveling on select itineraries, while other Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members get access before and after any same-day flight marketed and operated by American or a Oneworld airline. The Flagship Lounge access policies are nuanced, so check out all the specifics on American's website .

Finally, note that Flagship First Dining is an even more exclusive perk than Flagship Lounge access. So, don't get these two exclusive perks confused.

Minute Suites (near D23)

american express travel dallas

Minutes Suites aren't a traditional airport lounge, but one is an option in DFW if you need a quiet, private place away from the gate to take a nap, make a call, nurse a baby or just stream something on your device without distractions.

Food and beverages aren't included here, but basic pre-packaged beverages, chips, granola bars and similar are available for purchase, with prices ranging from $2 to $4 for most selections. You can access items either at the front desk or via the minibar in your private room.

During Summer's late-2021 visit, there was no wait to get in and the internet speed was 79.3 Mbps download and 7.72 Mbps upload.

Summer found the Minute Suites delivered on the promise of some quiet, private space. But, the space felt a little dark, dated and not somewhere you'd want to hang out for hours on end unless you need a nap or privacy away from the crowds.

american express travel dallas

How to get access to Minute Suites

You can pay $48 for one hour of quiet in the Minute Suites, with additional 15-minute periods costing $12 each. Nursing and pumping mothers can get a free 30-minute visit.

However, anyone with a Priority Pass card — available with many premium credit cards — can enjoy an hour at Minute Suites for no extra charge, with additional hours available at a discounted rate of $34. Up to three guests can enjoy the same suite as the Priority Pass member at no charge.

The Club DFW (near D27)

american express travel dallas

The Club DFW is a Priority Pass option in Terminal D. It's a small lounge with three seating areas: a bar/buffet area, a quiet room and an "outdoor" area that has a view of the terminal. The bar area was very crowded during my midday visit in December 2021, while the quiet room had plenty of open seating.

american express travel dallas

As for food options, there was a buffet area near the check-in counter with a variety of breakfast options as well as coffee, juice and soft drinks. The buffet wasn't self-serve when I visited, so travelers needed to ask a buffet attendant to make a plate for them. Unfortunately, there were no to-go options.

american express travel dallas

There is a bar too, which has a variety of beer, wine and liquor options.

american express travel dallas

My only major issue with The Club was the check-in time. It took over five minutes for an attendant to greet the growing line of patrons waiting to enter with Priority Pass cards. I chalked this up to the lounge being short-staffed, as my visit was around the same time the omicron wave started.

american express travel dallas

How to get access to The Club DFW

You can access The Club with a Priority Pass membership or pay a daily rate for access. When I visited, access was offered for $33 per day, which was advertised as a 25% discount on the standard daily rate. However, The Club DFW is now selling single visits online for $48.71.

american express travel dallas

Finally, note The Club DFW only allows access at most three hours before your flight's scheduled departure.

American Express Centurion Lounge (near D12)

american express travel dallas

The American Express Centurion Lounge at DFW is located in Terminal D and is one of the larger Amex lounges around, having benefited from a space upgrade a few years ago. As is true with many Amex lounges, there was a long line to get into the lounge when I stopped by, although luckily I didn't have to join a waitlist .

american express travel dallas

Seating is plentiful around the lounge, although seats fill up quickly during peak periods. You'll find couches, tables and high-tops scattered around the lounge. While there are no tarmac views, you do get a sweeping view of the inside of the terminal.

american express travel dallas

Everything in the lounge was what you'd expect from an Amex Centurion Lounge if you've been to one in the past. There was a large buffet, which included favorites like scrambled eggs, pancakes and granola for breakfast. There were also self-serve espresso and water machines around the lounge. There were no takeaway food options when I visited.

How to get access to the American Express Centurion Lounge

You can access Amex Centurion Lounges with The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express . Effective February 1, 2025: Eligible Platinum Card Members will receive 10 Visits per Eligible Platinum Card per year to the Delta Sky Club or to Grab and Go when traveling on a same-day Delta-operated flight.

The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card also provide Centurion Lounge access when the cardholder is flying on a Delta-operated flight booked with a U.S.-issued American Express charge or credit card.

Be Relax Spa (near B28)

american express travel dallas

There is a Be Relax Spa in Terminal B near Gate B28 that you can access with Priority Pass memberships that aren't a perk of American Express cards.

Similar to the Gameway location discussed later in this story, the Be Relax Spa isn't a typical lounge. Instead, it's a location where you get a spa service and then leave. The Priority Pass website states that you can get one of the following complimentary treatments during your visit:

  • Be Back 30-minute massage.
  • Be Back 15-minute massage plus aromatherapy and oxygen.
  • Head Up on lounger 10-minute massage plus aromatherapy and oxygen.
  • Be Feet on lounger 10-minute massage plus aromatherapy and oxygen.

american express travel dallas

When Katie visited in June 2022, the spa staff originally told her that only the massage chairs were available through Priority Pass. But when she specifically asked about the foot and head massages mentioned on the Priority Pass website, the staff member said the location wasn't offering foot massages because the chair was broken. And it would be a two-hour wait for a head massage.

Katie said the wait wasn't an issue, so the staff asked her to write her name, desired treatment, flight boarding time and phone number on a sheet of paper. About 90 minutes later, she got a call asking if she'd still like to get a treatment with her Priority Pass benefit.

american express travel dallas

Once at the Be Relax Spa, the staff swiped her Priority Pass card, led her to a massage chair and asked her to remove her shoes. The staff member warned her that some people find the massage chair too rough, saying to speak up if she wanted him to turn off the chair. Then, the staff member turned on the massage chair and gave Katie a 10-minute head massage.

The head massage was relaxing. And unlike other massage chairs she'd tried, this one didn't leave her feeling bruised. After experiencing the massage chair, she'd be more likely to try the 30-minute massage chair session on a subsequent visit instead of waiting for a head or foot massage.

Before you visit, check the hours on the Be Relax Spa website as they may be shorter in reality than the Priority Pass website or app would lead you to believe. For example, when Katie visited in June 2022, the spa closed at 6 p.m. even though the Priority Pass website said the spa would be open until 9 p.m. Finally, although there is also a Be Relax Spa in DFW Terminal D, that location doesn't participate in Priority Pass.

How to get access to the Be Relax Spa

You can pay for spa services at the Be Relax Spa based on the stated menu of prices. But, if you have a Priority Pass membership that isn't from an Amex card — since Priority Passes from American Express cards only cover typical lounge visits — you can choose from a selection of complimentary offerings as a benefit of your Priority Pass visit.

United Club (between E6 and E7)

american express travel dallas

Terminal D has the widest array of lounge options at DFW. But if you find yourself in Terminal E, you still have choices.

One option is the United Club, which rings in at the smaller and more basic level of United Clubs. However, there are a few different seating areas, a bar and a couple of small private rooms to take calls or work.

american express travel dallas

The day Summer visited this lounge it got pretty busy for the available space. And the food options — such as vegetable soup and a platter of corn dog nuggets — were not the most appetizing, especially after she'd seen what was on offer at the Capital One Lounge.

american express travel dallas

The complimentary WiFi clocked in at 109.7 Mbps download and 126.6 Mbps upload.

As long as you come in with tempered expectations for the offerings and amenities, the United Club can do the trick if you are looking for a lounge option in this terminal.

How to get access to the United Club

The United Club Infinite Card includes unlimited United Club visits when you're flying with United or other Star Alliance partners. Other United cobranded credit cards , like the United Business Card , include two United Club one-time passes per year, which you can use when flying on a United-operated flight.

Premium-cabin passengers, Star Alliance Gold members, active U.S. military personnel, Air Canada Maple Leaf Club members and Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer members may also have access when flying on select itineraries. See this page on United's website for more details.

Gameway (near E16)

american express travel dallas

Another option in Terminal E that isn't quite a lounge, but is still an entertaining way to pass the time between flights, is Gameway .

This Gameway location offers almost two dozen stations, each with a PlayStation 4 Pro that's loaded with a variety of games for you to pick from. There are also snacks, candy and bottled beverages available.

american express travel dallas

How to get access to Gameway

You can pay $16 for an hour at Gameway, or you can get in "for free."

The Priority Pass membership you may already have available to you via credit cards such as the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card , Chase Sapphire Reserve® and Citi Prestige® Card (no longer open for new applicants) provides not only two hours of gaming but also one beverage and two included snacks.

The information for the Citi Prestige has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Note that just like how the Priority Pass memberships available through American Express cards aren't eligible for restaurant use — even when those issued by other banks are — the same is true for options like Gameway. So be sure to produce a Priority Pass membership from the right credit card.

Delta Sky Club (between E10 and E11)

american express travel dallas

Also in the E gates is the Delta Sky Club. The lounge is surprisingly large for a Sky Club at a non-Delta hub, with a bar, buffet area and two seating areas. You'll find one seating area right behind the bar, with sweeping tarmac views that make for great planespotting.

american express travel dallas

There are also plenty of chairs toward the front of the lounge, although this area is a bit dark, especially in the early morning.

There are a wide variety of seating options, including large comfy chairs to lounge, tables and chairs to work and high-top seating ideal for enjoying a pre-flight beverage. The morning I visited this lounge, it was relatively busy, but there were plenty of open seats to relax.

american express travel dallas

Food and beverage offerings were standard for a Delta SkyClub — snacks and light eats like packaged sandwiches (for takeaway), fruit, salad and chips. You can grab a drink at the bar or enjoy coffee and espresso beverages from the automatic espresso machine at the front of the lounge.

american express travel dallas

How to get access to the Delta Sky Club

One popular way to access the Delta Sky Club is using The Platinum Card from American Express or The Business Platinum Card from American Express . Both cards offer Sky Club access for cardholders with a same-day Delta boarding pass (limited to six annual visits from Feb. 1, 2025).

The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card both provide Sky Club memberships. Effective 2/1/25, Reserve Card Members will receive 15 Visits per year to the Delta Sky Club; to earn an unlimited number of Visits each year starting on 2/1/25, the total eligible purchases on the Card must equal $75,000 or more between 1/1/24 and 12/31/24, and each calendar year thereafter.

Delta Diamond Medallion members can also select a Delta Sky Club membership as an annual Choice Benefit .

Plaza Premium Lounge (near E31)

american express travel dallas

The Plaza Premium Lounge is located in Terminal E near Gate E31. Katie visited this lounge in June 2022 shortly after Capital One added Plaza Premium lounge access for select cardmembers .

The lounge itself is very small, consisting of just one room the size of a small airport restaurant. The lounge was relatively full when Katie visited, so she opted to sit at the bar and work on her laptop.

american express travel dallas

The complimentary house drink menu is relatively extensive. There are two beers on tap (Coors Light and Lone Star), so Katie went with a Lone Star in memory of when she lived in Texas.

american express travel dallas

The food, on the other hand, is lacking compared with other Plaza Premium lounges Katie has visited (and with the Capital One and Centurion lounges at DFW). There's a self-serve snack area with oranges, bagged pretzels, cookies and apples on one side of the bar. And there are some self-serve cold foods on the other side of the bar, as well as a hot meal of the day and soup that the bartender can serve you. During Katie's visit, the hot meal of the day was slow-cooked roast beef and smashed red potatoes.

american express travel dallas

There's no bathroom or kids room in the lounge. There is Wi-Fi, but you'll need to get an activation code on a receipt from the reception agent. A test during Katie's visit showed 5.51 Mbps download and 5.48 Mbps upload speeds. Only about a fourth of the seating in the lounge offered access to power outlets.

american express travel dallas

Katie overheard another guest saying, "I'm heading to the Centurion Lounge -- I was expecting a bit more here." And she agrees, noting she'd likely only visit again if she could do so for free using a card benefit and she was departing from Terminal E on a short layover.

How to get access to the Plaza Premium Lounge

american express travel dallas

You can pay $25 for a "limited access" one-hour pass or $50 for a full-access three-hour pass (the electronic board outside the lounge also advertised a $45 three-hour pass). But, unless you're very hungry or thirsty, I wouldn't recommend paying these rates.

Luckily, now select Capital One cardholders can access Plaza Premium lounges free of charge. However, if you have a Capital One card that only allows a set number of lounge visits per year — such as the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card — you may not want to burn your visits at this Plaza Premium Lounge.

Amex Platinum and Centurion cardholders, including those with The Platinum Card from American Express or The Business Platinum Card from American Express , get complimentary access to this Plaza Premium Lounge.

Related: Plaza Premium introduces a $59 lounge subscription, but is it a good deal?

Bottom line

This isn't an exhaustive list of DFW lounge options. For example, we didn't visit the Gameway in Terminal B, the Minutes Suites in Terminal B or the Admirals Clubs in Terminal A or Terminal E, as these are all lounge types we visited in other DFW terminals.

In short, DFW has a lot of lounges that you can access, most simply by having select premium travel rewards cards .

If you want to stay close to your gate or have Flagship Lounge access, the lounge for your respective airline might be your best bet. But if you're near the D gates — or have a long layover and can hop over — you can enjoy higher-end food and drink at lounges offered by credit card companies like American Express and Capital One.

We found that the Capital One Lounge currently offers the best overall experience, with less crowding and more high-quality dining options to either eat in or take to go. However, the right lounge for your specific visit will depend on your priorities, what cards are in your wallet, what elite statuses you hold and the demand for lounge space on that day.

Craving lounge access? Check out our article on the best cards for airport lounges , including The Platinum Card from American Express and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card .

That way on that next (normally dreaded) layover, you can live it up playing video games, planespotting from the bar or taking a nap -- all at no additional cost to you.

American Express Travel Review [2024]: Worth the hype?

Heard about the amazing perks and benefits that Amex cardholders have through Amex Travel? Whether you're already a cardholder or if you're looking to sign up, definitely check out all of the perks of Amex Travel before you choose to book with them!

american express travel dallas

Editor's Note: This is a review of American Express' Travel Platforms, not specifically the credit cards. This review is independently written and was not sponsored by American Express.

Are you an American Express cardholder planning to book a trip soon? You might want to take a look at the Amex Travel portal in preparation for your vacation.

American Express cardholders and non-cardholders alike have access to this booking portal, but American Express cardholders can receive travel benefits like room upgrades, resort credit, and more by booking through Amex Travel.

Plus, cardholders can use Membership Rewards Points to cover all or part of their booking on Amex Travel!

However, it's important to note that the Amex Travel portal might not be the best option for every traveler. Some drawbacks include the barrier to entry and the low points-to-dollar conversion for travel services booked on the site.

Keep reading to learn more about the Amex Travel portal and whether we think it's worth using to book your next trip!

What is Amex Travel?

AMex Travel , also known as American Express Travel, is a travel booking portal that allows users to book travel, including flights, cruises, and hotel stays. It's an additional service portal that American Express Credit Card Holders get to use as part of their membership.

Cardholders can redeem American Express Membership Rewards Points directly to use on travel bookings. It is a convenient way to redeem points for travel directly in the portal rather than having to transfer points to a partner airline or hotel group.

American express travel

How does Amex Travel work?

First things first, only American Express cardholders can use the Amex Travel portal to redeem points to book travel.

If you have an American Express branded credit card and Membership Rewards points ready to use, you're good to go. Otherwise, you'll still be able to use the site, but you won't be able to apply points to your booking or reap the benefits of certain cardholder-only programs.

Amex Travel is simple and easy to use and has a clean interface that allows users to quickly find what they're looking for on the platform. Users can book travel directly in the Amex Travel portal by using American Express Membership Rewards Points, a credit card, or both.

Travel services available on the Amex Travel portal include flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, and vacation packages.

How can I book a trip through Amex Travel?

The ease of use and simple user interface make booking travel on Amex Travel an enjoyable, stress-free experience.

All you need to do to book a trip through Amex Travel is:

  • Log into your American Express account.
  • Search for the trip type you want to book, like flights, hotels, cruises, etc.
  • Apply points to your booking at check-out.
  • Book the trip!

American Express Credit Cards

Depending on which American Express card or cards you have, you get access to certain perks when booking travel through the Amex Travel portal.

These are the two most popular travel-related American Express Credit Cards, which besides the Centurion no-limit invite-only card, contains the best Amex point rewards and benefits system!

American Express Gold Cardholders

The American Express Gold Card is the affordable credit card options if you're looking for great reward points for a cheaper annual fee. The Amex Gold Card's annual fee comes to $250, which includes

  • Up to $120 Uber Cash (U.S.)
  • Up to $120 dining credits
  • Access to the Hotels Collection
  • Other Insurance & general perks!

With the 3x amount of points earned on travel and 4x amount of points earned on groceries, this card is a great place to start if you're looking to build up travel reward points for your next travel getaway!

American Express Gold Credit Card

American Express Platinum Cardholders

The American Express Platinum card, Amex's flagship credit card, receives tons of travel-related credits that can then be used when booking through the Amex Travel Portal. Coming in at a $695 annual fee, it's easily to be discouraged for signing up for such an expensive credit card.

However, the travel benefits that comes with the Amex Platinum card are incredible, which includes but are not limited to:

  • Up to $200 annual airline credits
  • Up to $200 Uber Cash (U.S.)
  • Up to $200 hotel statement credits on Fine Hotel + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings
  • Up to $189 Clear statement credits
  • Global Lounge Collection
  • Complimentary Hilton Honors + Marriott Bo
  • Bonvoy Gold Elite
  • and more non-travel credits!

If you travel frequently, we recommend you take advantage of the huge benefits that comes with the Amex Platinum credit card!

American Express Travel Benefit Programs

The hotel collection.

The Hotel Collection is a select American Express membership perk that allows specific cardholders to book participating hotels through Amex Travel portal to receive exclusive benefits, using cash or points.

In order to gain access to The Hotel Collection, you'll need to have access to the following Amex credit cards:

  • American Express Gold Card + Business Gold
  • American Express Platinum + Business Platinum
  • American Express Centurion Card

Here are all of the benefits Amex card holders can receive with access to the hotels Collection Program:

  • Pay-With-Points
  • Exclusive deals on lower rates for hotel bookings or reservations
  • Room Upgrade upon check-in when staying 2 nights or longer
  • up to $100 in hotel credits, which can be used to spend on dining, spa and other eligible activities when staying 2 nights or longer
  • 5x Membership reward points for Platinum cardholders, 2x membership reward points for Gold cardholders on prepaid reservations or bookings.

The Fine Hotels & Resorts Program

The Fine Hotels & Resorts program, also known as "Amex FHR" or "FHR," has a suite of benefits such as daily breakfast for two, guaranteed 4pm check-out, complimentary WiFi, and room upgrades when available.

The Fine hotel & Resorts program is only available for American Express Platinum cardholders and above.

When booking through the Fine Hotels & Resorts program, you'll also receive a $100 experience credit for services at the spa or food and beverages at the hotel–note that this benefit varies based on the property.

The FHR program is entirely different from the Amex Travel Portal, so points and credits aren't guaranteed in this program. Be sure to check up on whether your points count towards the FHR program with Amex Travel's representative before booking!

Cruise Privileges Program

American Express Platinum cardholders also have access to the Cruise Privileges Program in the Amex Travel portal.

Platinum Card and Centurion Card Members can receive amenities like $100-$300 in onboard credit, as well as 2x points per dollar spent per booking when using the Amex Travel portal. These benefits are available on sailings of five nights or more and may include additional perks specific to each cruise line.

Platinum Destinations Vacations

Platinum Destinations Vacations is another perk of using the Amex Travel portal as an American Express Platinum cardholder. Cardholders can receive up to 2x points per dollar spent on a qualifying independent or escorted vacation package through Amex Travel.

Additional Amex Travel Benefits

Another key benefit of booking travel through the Amex Travel portal is that users can receive additional points on bookings when using their American Express credit card.

American Express Platinum cardholders can earn 5x points on flights and prepaid hotels, and American Express® Gold cardholders can earn 3x points on flights. American Express® Green cardholders can earn 3x points on all travel. If you're looking to rack up more American Express Member Rewards points, this is a quick way to do so.

For a comprehensive list of all available benefits associated with the Amex Travel portal, visit the  Amex Travel website .

Amex travel credit card

Is Amex Travel worth it?

Amex Travel is an easy-to-use, convenient travel booking portal, but it might not be a good option for travelers looking to get the best value for their American Express Membership Rewards points.

While always changing, the points-to-dollar conversion rate has historically yielded less value than transferring points to partner programs like Delta or Marriott. This is worth noting because better value often means you'll get more out of the points you accrue.

Further, you aren't guaranteed to earn loyalty points with outside partners since Amex Travel is a third-party booking service.

For travelers looking to enhance their loyalty status, booking directly with the hotel group might make more sense. For airline miles, you might still be able to earn loyalty points or miles with the airline when booking through Amex Travel.

Be sure to check with the airline before booking if you aim to receive miles for your flight. Note that basic economy fares, whether found on Amex Travel or another website, are sometimes not eligible for earning miles or enhancing your loyalty status.

Something important to note is that a fee is added using the service, which is built into the cost of a ticket. This fee is unavoidable and can be higher if you call to book as opposed to using the online booking platform. The fees are waived if you have the Platinum Card, Business Platinum Card, or the Centurion Card.

Amextravel island

For travelers considering convenience as their main priority in the booking process, Amex Travel makes it easier than ever to book a trip.

Overall, Amex Travel is worth checking during the booking process to compare prices and points conversions on flights or hotels you might be interested in.

However, for the budget traveler or the points-and-miles traveler, Amex Travel might not be worth it to use while booking your next vacation because of the low redemption value of American Express Membership Rewards points in the portal.

If you're an American Express cardholder and want to earn more Membership Rewards points when booking travel, Amex Travel is a great option. If you do not have any American Express credit cards, there is no real advantage to using Amex Travel compared to any other third-party booking service.

Our Rating: 4.1/5

  • Easy to use
  • Pay with Points
  • Hotel benefits for Gold & Platinum Members
  • Additional points per dollar spent on travel
  • A pricer option for higher-end hotels and resorts
  • Must be a Amex cardholder member to access
  • Not guaranteed to earn loyalty points with travel providers
  • Additional Amex Travel fees

On his trip to Asia, Abbott will visit a region already influencing North Texas life

Taiwan, south korea and japan have significant communities that offer business and cultural strength..

By Gromer Jeffers Jr.

10:07 AM on Jul 5, 2024 CDT

Gov. Greg Abbott’s business trip to East Asia comes as companies and immigrants from the region are influencing business, culture and entertainment across North Texas.

The countries Abbott will visit — Taiwan, South Korea and Japan — have significant communities of immigrants and nationals who enhance the vitality of North Texas, leaders say.

Much of the impact is in suburban cities like Plano.

“The diversity of Plano that was started through people coming to Plano from overseas, much of it by word of mouth to a certain degree, really became an asset or an advantage for Plano years ago,” said Plano Mayor John Muns, adding that the Toyota headquarters in Plano was a game-changer because it brought jobs and new residents to North Texas.

Muns said the diversity makes North Texas better.

“It’s amazing how those small business areas — including the Korean growth, the Taiwanese growth and the Japanese growth — have created so many more restaurants and shops that are really authentic,” he said.

Spacious and open office spaces in Toyota's new North American headquarters campus in Plano.

North Texas cities have sister city programs in all three countries, and those relationships have aided in bringing businesses to the area.

The Korean community has flourished in North Texas, particularly in the past two decades. Large companies like Samsung set the tone for major employment. Other top Korean companies in North Texas include Nautilus Hyosung America, LG Electronics and Harman International Industries.

John Lee (left) and Hyun Kyum Kim, two members of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce,...

Small businesses also are influential, and the region has several H Marts, a popular Asian grocery chain.

There’s an official Koreatown in Northwest Dallas, a 1.6-mile strip on Royal Lane — from Luna Road to Harry Hines Boulevard — that helped turn a blighted area plagued by crime and prostitution into an economic center.

Carrollton has one of the fastest growing Korean business hubs in the state. Dallas has the largest Korean population in Texas and, behind Atlanta, the second largest in the South.

A Korea Town sign sits atop a street sign along Royal Lane in Dallas, December 14, 2023.

“I was one of the original members that created the official Koreatown designation ,” said John Lee, former chairman of the Greater Dallas Korean American Chamber of Commerce. Lee said less than 100 years ago Korea “had a GDP that was much smaller than the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia.”

“I have a lot of pride in my Korean heritage and how we have grown by leaps and bounds,” he said. “We have become a pretty decent economic power. To be a part of that heritage, to be living in a state like Texas and especially Dallas-Fort Worth, I’m extremely proud to be a Korean American.”

North Texas also has a tight-knit Taiwanese community . Immigrants from China and Taiwan came to the region from the 1970s through the early 2000s, developing businesses and cultural identities while embracing America and Texas.

Major businesses from Taiwan are also in the region, including SMS Infocomm Corp., Delta Electronics USA and Evergreen Shipping.

Richardson’s Chinatown is a popular business center.

There’s also a Taiwanese Community Center in Richardson. The Taiwan Acrobatic Troupe has visited North Texas and is scheduled to return to Richardson in September, said Dr. Charles Ku, a retired Dentist and leader in the Greater Dallas Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce.

North Texas officials have made business trips to Taiwan for decades, including former Dallas Mayors Annette Strauss, Ron Kirk, Tom Leppert and Mike Rawlings.

“We try to do our part because we feel like the United States is a mosaic,” Ku said. “As a Taiwanese community, we want to make sure that our part of the mosaic shines.”

The Japanese community also has grown, particularly since Toyota placed its North American headquarters in Plano.

In recent years, numerous Japanese restaurants have opened in Dallas. Plano now has a Japanese grocery store, Mitsuwa Marketplace.

There’s also the Japanese School of Dallas, which holds classes at the Ted Polk Middle School in Carrollton. Established in 1970 by the Dallas Japanese Association, the weekend school educates kindergarten through eighth-grade students, most of them children of Japanese citizens who work in North Texas and of Japanese Americans who want to keep up Japanese traditions.

“We have a Japanese school that meets every Saturday,” said Sam Shichijo, honorary consul of Japan in Dallas. “There are more than 600 students at that school.”

Shichijo said 290 Japanese companies operate in North Texas.

North Texas is a center of Japanese entertainment, including music, sports and food.

The 25th annual Otsukimi Moon Viewing Festival is scheduled for Sept. 14 at Haggard Park in Plano.

“When I was a little kid there really wasn’t much in North Texas,” said Beckie Callahan, executive director of Dallas-Fort Worth’s branch of the Japan America Society. “Now there are all kinds of cultural events that we are producing and are excited to share with people who may or may not be familiar with Japanese culture.”

The Basic Platinum Card Member can manage who on the account may access and use points for purchases via Pay with Points. Additional Platinum Card Members on Platinum Accounts also have access to the International Airline Program. Companion Platinum Card Members on these accounts do not have access to the International Airline Program.

*Terms and Conditions

5X Membership Rewards® Points Platinum Card

Basic Card Members will get 1 Membership Rewards® point for each dollar charged for eligible purchases on their Platinum Card® or an Additional Card on their Account and 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar charged for eligible travel purchases on any Card on the Account (“Additional Points”), minus cancellations and credits. Eligible travel purchases are limited to: (i) purchases of air tickets on scheduled flights, of up to $500,000 in charges per calendar year, booked directly with passenger airlines or through American Express Travel (by calling 1-800-525-3355 or through AmexTravel.com); (ii) purchases of prepaid hotel reservations booked through American Express Travel; and (iii) purchases of prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com. Eligible travel purchases do not include: charter flights, private jet flights, flights that are part of tours, cruises, or travel packages (other than prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com), ticketing or similar service fees, ticket cancellation or change fees, property fees or similar fees, hotel group reservations or events, interest charges, or purchases of cash equivalents. Eligible prepaid hotel bookings or prepaid flight+hotel bookings that are modified directly with the hotel will not be eligible for Additional Points.

Bonuses that may be received with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express cannot be combined with this benefit. Any portion of a charge that the Basic Card Member elects to cover through redemption of Membership Rewards points is not eligible to receive points. Additional terms and restrictions apply.

Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for Additional Points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn Additional Points if the merchant’s code is not included in an Additional Points category. Basic Card Members may not receive Additional Points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an Additional Points category. For example, you may not receive Additional Points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services, a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers), or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.

To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit in any way American Express may remove access to this benefit from the Account. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card or visit  americanexpress.com/rewards-info  for more information about rewards.

If a charge for an eligible purchase is included in a Pay Over Time feature balance on your Card Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time feature balance. Instead, the statement credit may be applied to your Pay In Full balance. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card.

Fee Credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® The benefit is available to (i) Corporate Gold Card Members, (ii) Consumer Platinum Card® Members, Corporate Platinum Card® Members and Business Platinum Card® Members, and (iii) Centurion® Card Members. The benefit is also available to all Additional Card Members on Consumer and Business Platinum Accounts, and all Additional Card Members on Consumer and Business Centurion Accounts. To receive the Global Entry statement credit of $100 or the TSA PreCheck statement credit of up to $85, Basic or Additional Card Members on the eligible Card Account must pay for the respective application fee through a TSA PreCheck official enrollment provider with their eligible Card. Basic Card Members are eligible to receive a statement credit every 4.5 years for the TSA PreCheck® application fee (when applying through a TSA official enrollment provider) and every 4 years for the Global Entry application fee, in each case when charged to the Basic Card or any eligible Additional Cards on the eligible Card Account. Basic Card Members will receive a statement credit for the first program (either Global Entry or TSA PreCheck) to which they or their eligible Additional Cards apply and pay for with their eligible Card regardless of whether they are approved for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. However, eligible Card Members can earn no more than one credit for up to $85 for TSA PreCheck or $100 credit for Global Entry (but not both programs), depending upon the program the Card Member first applies for, for an application fee charged to an eligible Card. American Express has no control over the application and/or approval process for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck, and does not have access to any information provided to the government by the Card Member or by the government to the Card Member. American Express has no liability regarding the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Programs. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) (for Global Entry) and U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) (for TSA PreCheck) charge an application fee to process each respective application regardless of whether the Card Member’s application is approved. The Department of Homeland Security may suspend acceptance of applications on any basis at its discretion. American Express will provide a statement credit for the application fee regardless of the decision made by CBP (for Global Entry) or TSA (for TSA PreCheck) but will not provide a statement credit for subsequent application fees charged to the same eligible Card within 4 years (for Global Entry) or 4.5 years (for TSA PreCheck), even if the original application is rejected.

Membership for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck is per person, and a separate application must be completed for each individual. TSA PreCheck application must be processed through a TSA official enrollment provider. Global Entry membership also includes access to the TSA PreCheck program with no additional application or fee required. For additional information on the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck programs, including information regarding the application and/or approval process and for a list of participating airlines and airports, as well as the full terms and conditions of the programs, please go to  www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry  for Global Entry and www.tsa.gov for TSA PreCheck. The Global Entry or TSA PreCheck programs are subject to change, and American Express has no control over those changes.

The statement credit benefit applies to the Global Entry or TSA PreCheck programs only. Other program applications including, but not limited to, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST, and Privium are not eligible for the statement credit benefit.

Please allow up to 8 weeks after the qualifying Global Entry or TSA PreCheck transaction is charged to the eligible Card account for the statement credit to be posted to the Card account. American Express relies on accurate transaction data to identify eligible Global Entry and TSA PreCheck purchases. If you do not see a credit for a qualifying purchase on your eligible Card after 8 weeks, simply call the number on the back of your Card. Card Members are responsible for payment of all application charges until the statement credit posts to the Card Account. Statement credits may be reversed if an eligible purchase is returned/cancelled.

To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled and not past due at the time of statement credits fulfillment. If American Express, in it’s sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide statement credits and may reverse any statement credits provided to you.

$200 Airline Fee Credit for Platinum and Corporate Platinum Enrollment through American Express is required to receive the benefit. Basic Card Members on U.S. Consumer and Corporate Platinum Card Accounts can enroll in the benefit by making their airline selection in the Benefits section of their americanexpress.com online account or by calling us. Enrolled Basic Card Members on U.S. Consumer Platinum and U.S. Corporate Platinum Card Accounts are eligible to receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year for incidental airline fees charged by their one selected qualifying airline to the enrolled Card Account. Purchases by both the Basic Card Member and Additional Card Members on the enrolled Card Account are eligible for statement credits. However, the total amount of statement credits will not exceed $200 per calendar year, per Card Account. To receive statement credits, the Basic Card Member must select one qualifying airline through their American Express Online Account or the link for their Card below:

• American Express Platinum Card®: https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/enroll/airline-fee-credit/platinum • Goldman Sachs Platinum Card®: https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/enroll/airline-fee-credit/goldman-platinum-card • Morgan Stanley Platinum Card®: https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/enroll/airline-fee-credit/morgan-stanley-platinum-card • Charles Schwab Platinum Card®: https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/enroll/airline-fee-credit/schwab-platinum-card • American Express Corporate Platinum Card®: https://global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/enroll/airline-fee-credit/corporate-platinum

Qualifying airlines include Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines, and are subject to change. Only the Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager(s) on the Card Account can select the qualifying airline. Card Members who have not chosen one qualifying airline will be able to do so at any time. Card Members who have already selected one qualifying airline will be able to change their choice one time each year in January through their American Express Online Account or by calling the number on the back of the Card. Card Members who do not change their airline selection will remain with their current airline. Incidental airline fees must be separate charges from airline ticket charges. Fees not charged by the Card Member's selected airline (e.g. wireless internet and fees incurred with airline alliance partners) do not qualify for statement credits. Incidental airline fees charged prior to selection of a qualifying airline are not eligible for statement credits. Airline tickets, upgrades, mileage points purchases, mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, duty free purchases, and award tickets are not deemed to be incidental fees. The airline must submit the charge under the appropriate merchant code, industry code, or required service or product identifier for the charge to be recognized as an incidental air travel fee.

Please allow 6-8 weeks after the qualifying incidental air travel fee is charged to your Card Account for statement credit(s) to be posted to the Account. American Express relies on airlines to submit the correct information on airline transactions, so please call the number on the back of the Card if statement credits have not posted after 8 weeks from the date of purchase. Card Members remain responsible for timely payment of all charges. Statement credits may be reversed if an eligible purchase is returned/cancelled. To be eligible for this benefit, Card Account(s) must be not canceled and not past due at the time of statement credit fulfillment. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide statement credits and may reverse any statement credits provided to you.
