Everest Base Camp Trek 12 Days Tour

Everest Base Camp Trek 12 Days

We recently had the opportunity to embark on the Everest Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team, and I must say, it was an experience of a lifetime. What sets this company apart is their commitment to sustainable tourism and their use of local guides. This not only ensures that you receive authentic knowledge and cultural insights but also contributes to the local communities and economies. From the moment I joined the trek, I felt a deep connection to the local culture. Our guide, a Sherpa with extensive knowledge of the region, shared fascinating stories and anecdotes that brought the mountains to life. It was evident that he had a genuine passion for his homeland and was dedicated to preserving its beauty and heritage. Throughout the trek, we had the opportunity to interact with local communities, visit monasteries, and witness traditional ceremonies. This immersive experience allowed us to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry of the region. It was truly a privilege to be a part of their world, even if only for a short time. Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team's commitment to sustainable tourism was evident in every aspect of the trip. They ensured that we left no trace, minimizing our impact on the environment. They also supported local businesses and initiatives, further contributing to the well-being of the communities we visited. The accommodations and meals provided were excellent, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and traditional Nepali cuisine. It was a delight to savor the flavors and experience the culinary traditions of the region. The team took great care in catering to dietary preferences and ensuring that we were well-nourished throughout the trek. I highly recommend Sherpa Expedition and Trekking Team to travelers who are looking for sustainable tours and authentic cultural experiences. Their use of local guides ensures that you have access to true, firsthand knowledge and insights. This, combined with their commitment to preserving the environment and supporting local communities, makes them an excellent choice for those seeking meaningful and responsible adventures.

Mountains & Mystics of India

Our group bonded well and we enjoyed places we might otherwise not have seen We were disappointed in the shortened Toy Train ride to Shimla, necessitating a 20 minute climb up a rough track with all our bags and the allocation of berths in the overnight sleeper train. Having top bunks in cabins of 6 and being quite apart from other group members could have been avoided with earlier booking. While the hotels were satisfactory, some needed maintenance to avoid such things as gaping holes in the baths. Overall however, we were glad we did it. Our tour leader was knowledgeable and ensured that everyone was safe throughout the trip.

Everest Base Camp Trek Tour

Epic scenery, amazing group of people - such a fun dynamic, and everyone was so supportive as the trek got into the higher altitudes. Loved every second.

Classic Nepal Tour Tour

Classic Nepal Tour

Our tour guide, Navaraj Shrestha, worked very hard and went out of his way many times to make sure everything about our tour was perfect. He is very knowledgeable and a delightful, happy person. He shared many interesting stories and checked in on us often. All accommodations were very good. We enjoyed meeting so many beautiful Nepali people!

Amazing adventure into the beautiful heart of Nepal, great group size and a tour leader that had everything sorted before it could be a problem. Every day was a laugh, and the itinerary was smooth and pleasant.

Everest Base Camp (13 Nights 14 Days) Trek Tour

Everest Base Camp (13 Nights 14 Days) Trek

Me and my partner went for Everest Base Camp trek during May 2022. At first we were confused where to start with unless we got contact us World Travel Experiences (WTX). We designed the itinerary together and went on for a journey to Base camp. Our guide Raj was very helpful and full of local tradition and vegetation knowledge. We enjoyed his company a lot.

Everest Base Camp Trek Tour

We did the Everest base camp trek with the Alpine ramble treks and also the Annapurna base camp trek; these were amazing trips of our life. Form the begging to the end, we did not have to worry about where to stay and eat, they explained everything on our arrival and introduced our guide (Nir), who was so wonderful guide and very professional, explaining the local culture, people, food, and he knows all the mountains, he is a true legend and we will surely join this fantastic team for our next trip to Nepal and highly recommended to anyone who is planning to visit Nepal for trekking. The are top!

Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return Tour

Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return

We booked with Nepal Trekking Routes Treks & Expeditions for the Everest base camp trek with helicopter return and travelled during end of November 2018. From the beginning to the end of the trip, everything was very well planned and we were quite fortunate to have beautiful weather every single day. A fantastic bunch of team and were expertly guided on the trip by our Guide Nawin and the porters. All in all, it was a trip of a lifetime and the helicopter flight back to Kathmandu was definitely a highlight of our trek. I would highly recommend Nepal Trekking Routes Treks & Expeditions and will definitely be using them again. Thank you.

Everest Base Camp Trek 16-day Tour

Everest Base Camp Trek 16-day

This trip was perfect. Nepal Hiking team provided one of the best experiences of my life. My trip was the Everest Basecamp trek. Our guide, Bal, not only taught us all about the surrounding areas along the trek, but he genuinely cared for our group. The accommodations, food, gear, etc all blew my expectations out of the water. I had a scenario where the airlines lost my luggage and Nepal Hiking Team arranged for my boots to be delivered via helicopter. This alone shows the dedication to their clients. From start to finish, I didn’t stop smiling and laughing. I can’t say enough good things about this organization.

Everest Base Camp Trek Tour

Ram was the perfect guide for our trip. When one of our party wasn’t feeling well he knew exactly what was required and sorted the whole situation. He is the guy you want in an emergency.

Everest Base Camp Trek 15 Days Full Board Tour

Everest Base Camp Trek 15 Days Full Board

I was a little bit afraid: would we all be able to reach the Everest Base Camp? It was a physical challenge at this altitude, for which we couldn’t prepare ourselves, even if we hiked a lot in the Alps the months before our journey to Nepal. We did it, also thanks to the great team! The tour was very well organized, allowing us to acclimatize to the increasing altitude and the thinner air. Our health was accurately monitored by our guide, on top of his organizational work, and I felt safe at any moment. We had also to learn the right rhythm for the hiking. The landscapes were spectacular, the tour was amazing. The mountains, which were always visible in the morning, were incredibly high. Then, during day, the clouds arrived and only allowed us to see parts of the landscape when they moved. The hanging bridges were impressive but even I achieved to pass them. It was great!! Thank you Narwin, Raj, Okil and Kumar! And also to Shailesh and his wife for the back office organization!!

Best Classic Nepal Tour (Kathmandu, Chitwan and Pokhara)- 8 days

A great tour with local guides demonstrating insightful knowledge around the cities, temples and monuments. Everything went as planned in the itinerary, helpful staff.

What people love about Himalaya Mountains Tours

I couldn’t recommend Nepal Hiking team more highly. I was a solo female traveller, and it could not have been a better trip. From the initial booking process the team have been exceptional in their communication and this continued throughout the entire trek. Once arriving in Kathmandu, you are welcomed by a friendly team and the WoodApple hotel was a fantastic place to find your feet in a good location in Kathmandu that’s not too far away from Thamal to ensure you can buy any last minute gear you may need, the food in the rooftop restaurant was excellent and the views of Kathmandu are fantastic. Our Guides Dhurba and Indra were amazing and really helped to ensure this was a trip of a lifetime. The knowledge they have about the Himalayas ensured no question went unanswered and they set a perfect pace for the group to make sure we all reached base camp but also really enjoyed the entire experience with plenty of laughs along the way. If you are considering doing the EBC… do it! And if your considering which company to go with …. Book with ‘Nepal Hiking Team’.
My Everest Base Camp trek with Sherpa Expedition was nothing short of incredible. The team's attention to detail and dedication to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience were evident throughout the entire journey. The guides were not only knowledgeable about the area but also incredibly supportive and encouraging. The breathtaking landscapes, challenging yet rewarding trails, and warm hospitality made this trek a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. I am grateful for the memories created and would wholeheartedly endorse Sherpa Expedition for their exceptional service

Leaders in Responsible Travel

Responsible Travel practice is at the heart of every program that we offer in the Himalaya. World Expeditions have pioneered many unique philanthropic initiatives that benefit our staff, local communities and the environment. When you book one of our adventures you’re supporting a program that is committed to safety and sustainability.

Stay at our exclusive semi-permanent camps in Nepal

Four decades of feedback and experience has proven that camping provides the most authentic trekking experience. Across the Annapurna and Everest regions you’ll enjoy the extra comfort of our exclusive camps, which feature standing height tents, clean beds with mattresses and pillows, a heated dining room, composting sit down toilets and more. Do yourself and the environment a favour by choosing our minimal impact accommodations.

All meals on Nepal treks included

Did you know that meals on a 2 week tea-house based trek in Nepal could cost you in excess of US$800pp?! Value for money, peace of mind, looking after your health as well as the local landscapes are just some of the reasons why we believe it’s a wise decision to choose a Nepal trek with all meals included. Watch our ‘7 Reasons Why We Include Meals On Our Nepal Treks’ video on every Nepal trip page to learn even more.

World Firsts

We proudly pioneered the first ever trekking trip to Tibet (1991), and developed trails in Nepal and the Indian Himalaya that had never before been used commercially, including the Api Himal and a traverse from Kashmir to Ladakh through Zanskar (1983). We also piloted the first commercial opportunity to walk The Great Himalaya Trail (2010) linking the high passes from Nepal’s most eastern to western borders.

Innovative Active Itineraries

We’ve been organising treks, climbs and tours in the Himalaya for four decades. Our firsthand knowledge of the region is unmatched, and we continue to push the envelope each year by innovating new programs while also finessing our classics. From a short four-day family trek in the Annapurna region to a challenging mountain bike traverse from Tibet to Nepal, we’re sure to have something for every age, interest and fitness level.

Great Value, Highly Inclusive

On top of all meals, highly trained local guides, an experienced trekking and cooking crew and exceptional camping services, we also provide you with the use of a trek pack, which includes a quality sleeping bag, down or fibre fill jacket and insulated mat (valued at over US$500).

Expert Guides

Our guides in the field are the real keys to our success, making your experiences exceptional. From Tim Macartney-Snape, who with Greg Mortimer completed the first Australian summit of Mount Everest, to Bir Singh, one of Nepal’s most experienced guides—our leaders are the pillars of our Himalayan adventures.

Stay at our comfortable semi-permanent campsites in Nepal's Everest region&#160;-&#160;<i>Photo:&#160;Mark Tipple</i>

The countries of Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and India present some of the world's poorest living conditions. According to the United Nations 2010 Human Development Report "environmental degradation intensifies inequality through adverse impacts on already disadvantaged people and inequalities in human development amplify environmental degradation". World Expeditions chooses to make a difference by putting in place initiatives that reduce our impact and giving back to the places and people we encounter. To minimise our impact on the natural environment we practice the '7 Principals of Leave No Trace', in addition to supporting local economies by employing guides and staff from local communities. Our Animal Welfare Code of Conduct, Child Welfare Code of Conduct and Porter Welfare Policy ensure the well-being of animals and children encountered on our adventures, as well as the mountain porters we employ on our treks.

Private eco campsites

In the Everest and Annapurna regions, our sustainable private campsites feature standing room, fixed two person tents equipped with raised beds, mattresses and pillows. Dining rooms offer a comfortable environment to dine and socialise with fellow trekkers, with cushioned seating, picture windows with mountain views and, at higher altitudes, a pot belly stove for warmth. Ablution blocks have western style sit toilets and wash basins.

Wilderness camping

Enjoy our fully supported, self-sufficient camping featuring quality two person tents with good ventilation that have been erected in scenic wilderness settings as well as a dining tent and a toilet tent with a sit toilet. Our crew take care of the logistics, including food preparation, as we focus on keeping our impact on the environment to a minimum.

In the Annapurna and Everest regions we have specially appointed eco lodges which adhere to our very specific criteria of not burning wood and follow our menu and hygiene guidelines.

In cities and large towns you will be accommodated in 3-4 star properties that are generally centrally located, atmospheric, and where we have seen a very high traveller satisfaction over many years.

beginners-guide-for-trekking-in-the-himalayas

The majority of you who have searched for this topic are probably planning your first trek in the Himalayas. Otherwise, you may already have booked a trek and are trying to understand what an adventure tour would be like on the mountain.

Yes, you read that right—an adventure tour. Trekking in the Himalayas is indeed an adventure tour, and it will have its share of risk elements as well. But don’t worry; you have a certain amount of risk even when you cross a road or drive a car. Besides this, trekking is not a sport, at the same time does require certain physical strength and endurance, along with mental preparation.

Now let’s carefully go through the major planning parts and till you complete your journey along with our insights and pro tips . Remember that it is almost impossible to write an “ All in One or Complete Guide ” on this topic. In spite of the fact, we put in our due diligence so that we don’t miss any important points for you and even work as your one stop trekking guide. Don’t follow blindly whatever is written or implied, including our website! While most of these are facts, a few are opinions based on professional experience on this topic or a holistic view of mountains in general.

Also, this article is not about recommending the best treks for beginners in XYZ and so on, but rather equipping you with a meticulous understanding of the fundamentals of a trekking vacation in the Himalayas. On top of that, you get a broad understanding of how to choose a trek that suits you the best.

Plan well ahead of the execution:

Planning the right steps from the beginning would surely help you complete your first Himalayan journey, making it safe and memorable. It can be a life-changing experience quite easily for you. However, a trip at an altitude above 3000 m or 10000 ft will have uncertain natural or inclement weather conditions; altitude itself is a barrier, and adjusting to a different daily routine for most of you can be a potential challenge on a trek. Don’t take it too easy or casually, and be prepared. That can easily make life difficult on mountains. Simply think that mountains have their own natural rules, and we just need to abide by them. Rest can be a game changer in your life.

The Planning Phase: From now till you start your journey

Now we will discuss the points, which are essentially your preparation. It’s better to pay attention to details if you have made up your mind in favour of a Himalayan trek. When you get time, do go through the given links for more understanding. Note the headings so that you can do your own re(search) on the points mentioned here.

Choose the right season or time for your trek :

Any trekking route in the Himalayas will have its own specified season(s) that are supposedly the “best time to visit”. During this period, a particular route showcases most of the beauties and features it is known for. Additionally, you get a safer passage to complete your trek as well.

Each such suitable season for a particular trek will have different beauties and offerings, and you don’t get them all together. But trust us, each season will delight you with something or other.

Decide on the trekking grade :

All Himalayan treks are graded according to their difficulty level to complete. Consider starting with an Easy grade trek . You should try a route that will be well within your control as a whole; don’t test any extremes. Most likely first time you are going to a high altitude place and stay above ~ 3000 m/10000 ft.

People with previous hiking experiences in low altitudes who are living an active lifestyle or following a fitness schedule for the time being may consider a  Moderate level trek , going up to the highest altitude of ~ 4300 m – 14000 ft while camping or sleeping below 4000 m – 13000 ft of altitude.

Research the trekking route or the region :

Now these treks are located in different states or destinations across the Indian Himalayas . Try to see which ones suit you best, your preferred locations that match your vacation time, and any other preferences. All the destinations are indeed beautiful, but at times it’s a matter of convenience to choose a particular region.

Sometimes you may have heard about or been recommended a particular trek route. Before taking up your trek, research your chosen trekking route thoroughly. Get information on the trail conditions, weather patterns, altitude changes, and any cultural and natural landmarks along the way. This will help you prepare mentally and physically for the trek.

Pro tip : Consider choosing a trek from a shortlist that most matches with the above mentioned three points.

Talk with someone you know:

This is a quite natural thing that you would like to talk to someone you know who has been on treks, preferably in the Himalayas. Or maybe you just heard about trekking from a person, and now you are here as part of your research. First-hand information from people you know matters, as they should have taken many of these steps.

Otherwise, just get in touch with us so that we can talk. Often, it is easier to comprehend or understand when we talk.

Consider bookings through a reputed trekking tour operator/agency for trekking:

As a first-timer, it’s not normal that you can arrange a DIY (a.k.a. independent) trek in the Himalayas on your own. Well, maybe if you have highly experienced friends or family members to make a group. There are many logistical things the team would need to take care of to arrange an independent trekking tour.

Else, simply do your research and choose a professional organisation that takes care of the trekking logistics and helps you with many other things that you require. E.g., almost half of the points we discuss here are automatically taken care of by a reputed trekking company.

As a trekking tour operator, we offer Fixed Departure Treks that you may join as a solo member or with your group. Dates, costs, and services for these treks are fixed. Alternatively, if you already have your own group of people, you may opt for a Customised tour . Here dates, itinerary, level of service, and itinerary are tailor-made as suits your group. Cost depends on primarily the number of persons and level of service you prefer.

Pro tips : You pay for the professinal knowledge and on ground quality support. Do thorough research before choosing your trekking organisation. Consider getting a first-hand reference or recommendation from someone you know. There are many companies that are essentially travel portals or marketplaces, and Trek is one of the many available products and tickets they sell! It all depends on how the on-ground tour operator, who is responsible for managing and running the show, handles things! We suggest you avoid using a “booking agency”, unless highly trusted.

Keep a provision for an extra (buffer) day in your itinerary:

It may be pretty helpful to keep a buffer day or two in your travel itinerary. Keep this reserve day at the end of your trek. Either use it during an unforeseen event on the trek or later you just chill out a day after your trek.

Depending on a trek, sometimes it is convenient to reach the nearest railway station or airport on Day 0. Plan your travel itinerary accordingly.

Flexible flight tickets and reservations can be handy in dealing with such conditions.

Visit a doctor and consider getting a travel cum medical insurance for the trip:

It is always advisable that you visit a doctor well in advance before starting your trek. You must consult your doctor if you are already on medication or have an existing medical condition.

As already mentioned, trekking in the Himalayas involves certain risks, such as bad weather, accidents, and natural disasters. Consider getting comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, evacuation, and repatriation. Check with your trekking company to see if they can arrange one for you.

Arrange the necessary permits and documents :

Treks within the Himalayas are in remote locations and require permits from various governing bodies, including the concerned forest department or district administration offices, etc. If you book with a company, they will obtain the necessary permits.

Always carry the original identity card with your address on it. It can be your AADHAR, driving licence, voter ID, passport, or any other government ID card (a PAN card is not a valid ID card as it doesn’t have an address on it). Keep one or two photocopies of the original. In some treks, you need to bring your recent passport photo for permit procedures.

Additionally, you may have to submit a medical fitness certificate from a doctor for some treks where it is applicable. As it’s an adventure activity, usually companies will require an indemnity clause signed by you as well.

Get fit for the trek:

Trekking in the Himalayas can be physically demanding, so it’s essential to be in good physical shape. If you are already on a fitness schedule, you are surely at an advantage. Otherwise, plan to start a fitness programme well in advance, focusing on cardio and a few strength training exercises. Consult a physical trainer or your tour operator before undertaking any such programme. You can also do some practise hikes in your local area to build up your stamina.

Remember that you will enjoy the trail and surroundings more when you are reasonably fit for a given trek.

Here is a starter for the beginners:

Physical Fitness

Check the list of things to carry :

This is a very important aspect so you are safe and comfortable on the mountains.

  • Your 3-layers of clothing (a must on the mountains above ~3000 m/10000 ft):
  • Sleeping bag (generally, it is included in the package by your tour operator, like we do in our treks)
  • Your trekking shoes or boots
  • A rucksack or a backpack with a raincover

You may buy, borrow, or rent a few items. On many easy treks, you can reuse the already existing ones that you have for a different purpose. Consult our article on renting vs. buying trekking gear before deciding on a particular item.

Do carry a personal first aid and general medicine kit.

There are other small yet essential things to pack. Check out our detailed list of things to carry on a Himalayan trek below:

List of things to carry on a Himalayan trek

Pack smart and light:

The key to backpacking is to pack all the essentials while keeping your pack light. You don’t want to carry unnecessary items that are heavy on you. We recommend that you invest in buying good quality items so that they serve you safely on the mountain in the long run. At the same time, these items are lighter in weight and known for their wider range of use in different types of situations and conditions.

How you should pack your backpack for trekking?

Budget your expenses:

Now comes the budget. Estimate based on the following major expenses:

  • Your tour package cost (which usually takes care of your accommodation, meals, trekking guide and support staff, camping equipment and logistics, permits and levies charged by the governing authorities, etc.)
  • Travelling to basecamp and returning home
  • Any other accommodation and meals outside the trek but which may be required during your travel
  • Purchasing or renting trekking gear
  • Any other personal expenses or some buffer expenses

Pro tip : Keep adequate cash on hand for any on the spot expenses and as a buffer. Online transactions can be very difficult in remote areas due to limited network connectivity.

Don’t jump into a trek at the last moment:

As you can see, there is quite a bit of planning ahead for your trek, so just don’t register or book a trek at the last moment. As a beginner, take your time, plan well in advance, and then get things arranged. There is always a next time, no matter how tempting if you could manage to join at the 11th hour. I is very likely that if you are very late to decide, you may remain unprepared and put yourself and your team at risk.

Trek Execution Phase: Follow these when you are actually on the trek

This is an equally important phase and deals with the dos and don’ts on the ground. To adjust yourself on a mountain, you need to focus on two key areas. One area is altitude and how you are coping with it physically following certain rules. Another area is being that how do you interact with the environment as a whole by following certain norms, decorums, or etiquette, whatever you like to call it.

Stay hydrated and enjoy your meals:

It is vital to drink enough water and fluids throughout the day to remain hydrated. Fill your water bottle(s) at a campsite and ask your guide about a possible opportunity to refill while you walk. Drinking water is collected from a stream or from a natural source. Avoid drinking water from unknown sources.

Remember that due to the cool or cold weather, you may not feel like drinking adequate water. This may directly lead to a muscle cramp or create other health problems on the mountain.

Eat sufficient food, which gives you much needed energy and nutrition to continue your trek. Ideally, you should eat at least the same amount you eat back at home. A fractional reduction can be due to the new conditions; however, a moderate loss of appetite is an early indicator of mountain sickness.

Acclimatise properly :

High altitude means less pressure, or thin air, and less oxygen to breathe. Acclimatisation refers to the physiological changes that occur when you arrive at a high altitude and allow the body to function properly in the low oxygen environment. E.g., your ear pops on a plane, which is the adjustment your body does due to the pressure difference.

It is recommended that you sleep inside the tree line for three nights before reaching a higher altitude. Usually tree line ends between 3300 to 3600 m (11,000 and 12,000 ft) depending on a region or particular route. A well thought-out itinerary will consider these factors and help you in the acclimatisation process.

If your body doesn’t acclimatise, you may notice sustained symptoms, which include headache, nausea, shortness of breath, and dizziness. difficulty sleeping, and the inability to exercise or move. These are signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) , although they are uncommon below 4000 m – 13000 ft. When someone is affeted by AMS, it is a must to bring the person as quickly as possible.

Avoid alcohol and smoking which seriously harm you on the mountain.

Pro tip : Cool down once you reach your campsite for the day. Don’t get inside the tent and rest immediately, even if you are feeling unwell. Rather, put on warm clothes, walk around a bit, chit chat with your fellow trekkers, sip a cup of tea, and enjoy and adjust to the environment.

Inform any irregular or uncomfortable physical condition to your trek guide:

Always inform your trek guide or leader about any discomfort rather than keeping it a secret. This may help to identify any altitude conditions and act accordingly.

Follow the instructions of your trek guide or leader:

This is self explanatory. Be it how you walk or manoeuvre on the trail or maintaining certain rules. They are experienced in these conditions and well aware of the situation. After all, your guide and support team are responsible for your well being on the mountains.

Start early and finish early:

A regular day on the trail can be quite different from your daily routine back home. During a trek, you wake up early to witness the sunrise views, get refreshed, and have your breakfast. Pack everything and be ready to start at the latest by 7:00 – 7:30 am.

If you start early, most likely you will reach your day’s destination on time and have plenty of time to explore the campsite in the afternoon. Similarly, you finish your dinner and call it a day early so that you get enough sleep.

Set your pace:

It is important to find the pace that suits you. Don’t walk too fast or too slowly, as either of these will make you tired. Keep walking at a slow but steady pace. Take short breaks to enjoy nature or to catch your breath.

Follow mountain manners and etiquettes

Mother nature likes good manners. Be modest and humble in the mountains. A smile goes a long way. Your flexibility to cope with and adjust according to the conditions is certainly a great advantage.

Work as a team on mountain:

Just remember the age-old saying, United we stand, divided we fall. Gel well with your team mates. Your team’s bonding plays a role here as well.

Respect local customs and traditions:

The Himalayas are a culturally diverse region, and it is important to respect local customs and traditions. Dress modestly, remove your shoes before entering temples or monasteries, and ask permission before photographing people.

Care for the environment, leave no footprints:

The Himalayas are a fragile ecosystem, and it’s important to respect and take care of the environment while trekking. This is the only way we can do our part to preserve this magnificent gift of nature for our future generations.

Strictly avoid littering, stick to the designated trails, and do not disturb the local flora and fauna. Don’t leave any of your non-biodegradable waste on the mountain; carry these items back and recycle or reuse them whenever possible.

If you have continued till now, most likely it has clarified many queries and doubts that you had as a beginner. If you need some more information or understanding, please feel free to get in touch in one of the following ways:

" Great family morning outing. Really enjoyed getting to know downtown Cape Town on bikes. Our guide was very informative and adapted well to having 3 teenagers in our group in terms of information content. The bikes were good quality and the route a good mix of roads, gardens, cycle paths etc. Would recommend. "

I recently went on an outdoor himalayan trek with the Sherpa Trekking Company and it was one of the best trips of my life. Every expectation I had was exceeded and I am so glad that I chose them. The team was the epitome of professionalism, providing me with amazing trekking experience, food and filming help, gentle sherpa guides and porters support, and full accomodation and transport. Even though I was just a beginner, they enabled me to make my dream of going to the Everest base camp come true. I would highly recommend the Sherpa Trekking Company to anyone looking to do a Himalayan trek.

Swidish Girl

The trek (Annapurna Sanctuary) was 52km total, and Sherpa Trekking mapped it out perfectly in the itinerary. The weather was a bit severe in some parts, but thanks to the help of the guides, porters, and other support, I made it through safely. I was able to see the great Annapurna I, and it was breathtaking. The guides were very knowledgeable and gentle, and the accommodations and transportation were easy and convenient. Food and filming help was also provided, which was very helpful. I would definitely recommend Sherpa Trekking Company for any Annapurna Sanctuary trek!

I recently went on an Everest base camp trek with the Sherpa Trekking Company in 2023. Their package was comprehensive and offered great value for money. The suggested itinerary, which was put together with a lot of care and expertise, allowed us to reach the Everest base camp height with plenty of time to explore the Himalayan wonders. The Sherpa guides and porters were extremely helpful along the way and made sure we had accomodation and transport facilitaed by the company. Additionally, we were even given the opportunity to make a mountain filming documentry which was a thrilling experience!

I choose Kailash Himalaya Trek because I had three good experiences before. Since 2005 I cooperate with Kailash Himalaya Trek - under the management of director Mr. Santa Subba - for tours of the Royal Dutch Climbing & Mountaineering Club. 2005: Khumbu Everest Traverse with Kala Patar and Gokyo-Ri 2008: Kangchenjunga Trek to north and south basecamp 2010: Dhaulagiri Trek from Beni to Marpha 2012: Inner Dolpo Trek with Shey Phoksundo National Park During all these tours Mr. Kitap Tamang was our guide. His calmness, kindness, organizational skills, loyalty and strength are unique. He is a nice and professional guide. I can recommend Kailash Himalaya Trek to anyone for all kind of treks in the Himalaya. I want to come back to Nepal in 2013 to visit the Manaslu and Ganesh Himal region. For that trek I will cooperate again with Kailash Himalaya Trek. Kind regards, Aart Last - Tour leader of the Royal Dutch Climbing & Mountaineering Club Royal Dutch Climb & Mountaineering Club (NKBV) Houttuinlaan 16a, 3447 GM Woerden, The Netherlands http://www.nkbv.nl

Dear Santa I wish to express my gratitude to you and your team once again for perfectly organizing our successful 2015 fall expedition to Putha Hiunchuli (7,246 m). In particular my thanks go to Renzen Bothe for his strong and unselfish support from base camp to summit, to Sarbajit Tamang for his incredible creations in the kitchen tent (particularly the Swiss Rösti) and to Ranee Tamang for his distinguished way of serving us in all aspects. I think that Kailash HIMALAYA Treks embodies the way climbers and trekkers from all around the world wish to be assisted in the Nepal of the future. I trust that you will remain one of those outstanding companies. All the best!

Dear potential trekkers, My partner and I signed up for a short ( 6 days – adventure – hiking to Gosaikunda Lake) in Nepal. Overall, it was a very memorable experience full of pleasant memories. The pre-trip organization was excellent, thank you very much Ramesh for all the support; and this was coupled with a great hike guided by Pancha and Khiru through beautiful and picturesque sceneries. I highly recommend Kailash Himalayas Trekking to everyone who is looking to spend a good time in Nepal with a high quality service provider.

In November 2018 I cooperated for the ninth time with Kailash Himalaya Trek. Now we made a tent trek through the Tsum Valley. An authentic area that is still hardly affected by outsiders. In that area we saw marvellous remote and wild mountain landscapes with high snowy mountain peaks. On our route we visited some old Buddhist monasteries and villages. At the end of the valley we camped near Mu Ghompa monastery at 3700m. We got the idea to go back in time for centuries. I choose for Kailash Himalaya Trek because I had eight good experiences before. Since 2005 I cooperate with Kailash Himalaya Trek, most times for tours of the Royal Dutch Climbing & Mountaineering Club, and sometimes private with friends. Tours for the Royal Dutch Climbing & Mountaineering Club: 2005: Khumbu Everest Traverse with Kala Patar and Gokyo-Ri 2008: Kangchenjunga Trek to north and south basecamp 2010: Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek from Beni to Marpha 2012: Inner Dolpo Trek with Shey Phoksundo National Park 2013: Manaslu Circuit 2014: Mustang Trek to Lo Manthang 2015: Annapurna Circuit Private tours with friends: 2017: Limi Valley Trek – NW Nepal 2018: Tsum Valley Trek During all these tours Mr. Kitap Tamang was our guide. His calmness, kindness, organizational skills, loyalty and strength are unique. He is a nice and professional guide. He and his assistants take care of us under all circumstances and they guided us very well on high, remote and impressive routes. All our equipment was transported by porters. At all our treks the cook and his kitchen boys prepared very good and tasty meals and give us all services we need. Thanks the efforts of the KHT staff we had very fine and save trekkings in wonderful areas. I can recommend Kailash Himalaya Trek to anyone for all kind of treks in the Himalaya. Great Tour Operator Nov 2023 • Ardash, Kittap and their team were in charge of the Nepalese leg of our tour. They did and amazing job everything ran smoothly and without a hitch. From boutique hotels to the teahouses in the mountains we received the best service al always with a smile! I would highly recommend this company to organise your Himalayan travels. They have great connections and fabulous local knowledge which is what is needed by a tour company. A special mention to our porters...Ranee, Nimraj, Sumen and the rest of the team! They are bloody amazing!! They couldn't do enough to help us and make our journey a success. Nepal has been Epic! And they helped make it so. - Paddy

Makalu Basecamp trek Oct 2019: This year we made our choice for the Makalu-trek. A beautiful of the beaten trek, with reasonable lodges up till basecamp since a few years. The last time I did this trek is 23 years ago. In those days, there were no lodges after Tashigaon. Manager Ramesh from Kailash Himalaya Trek proposed to take guide Bhim Bahadur Magar with us. We are so happy to say that Bhim was really a fantastic guide. His guiding was very professional and so helpful. Not only for us but also fort he porters, in the lodges and in the kitchen. His social behaviour with the locals is great and he is a good cook! Thanks again Santa. Everything was well organised as always.Tom - Franken and Peter Schampers, Holland

Excellent Organiser that led to wonderful trip Went with Kailash Himalaya Trek for a family trip (including 6 and 11 yr old kids) to Upper Mustang. Organised a jeep, along with a English + Hindi speaking Guide and Driver that made the whole journey over five days very memorable. The entire trip, starting from Jomsom and back was very well managed and we covered the upper Mustang region upto Lo-Manthang and Muktinath while returning. Stayed in small villages throughout and we were provided good facilities given the conditions and the altitude. They ensured we did not have a problem with food even though we are pure vegetarian. No words can describe how beautiful the landscape and the scenery was. Special call out to our driver Hikmatji who drove very safely on that terrain. A special call out to our guide Bholaji who made sure we kept good time and handled the kids very nicely as well. The two of them made the whole journey very memorable. Also, this would surely not have been possible without all the planning and co-ordination with Rameshji from Kailash Himalaya Trek. Once again, we all loved the whole experience and this is surely something that will stay with us for a lifetime. –Vinod Bhatt

Excellent service and value for money Dec 2018 • Solo I booked the Poon hill circuit with Kailash after recommendations from friends. I wasn’t disappointed. They were really flexibile with dates (even when I kept making changes) and communicated quickly and efficiently before I arrived in Nepal. Gopal was my guide and he was brilliant- knowledgeable and also was happy to be flexible with the itinerary if I wanted to walk further some days. He was also very reliable and that’s important to have when you are trekking for a few days and by yourself.I didn’t compare prices to other companies but I felt it was really good value because all food and hot drinks were included (and those hot drinks were needed)!!!Definitely recommend! –Tory C

Great Trek & Great Company Sep 2018 • I have been fortunate to have travelled to Nepal many times (7). Each time it just gets better. Kailash Himalaya has been the company I always use and both Kitap & Sarbajit have been my guides over the years. This time my friends and I trekked in Mustang which was marvellous and so different to the Annapurna, Langtang and Everest treks. While Kailash Himalay did a tremendous job again I was a tad disappointed by the fact the government is turning most of the main trekking path into a road. –Fred Allop Perth, Australia

EBC & IP From the moment we were met at the airport Ardash and his team had all areas covered. They made us feel very welcome and safe in Nepal. They had all the Logistics covered to a T and nothing was too much trouble or inconvenience to them. I had to come down off the mountain due to a ankle injury and they arranged everything from helicopters to the hospital. The teams attention to detail is second to non and would 100% recommend using these guys. I know I certainly will be seeing them again. Thanks guys – Rick Ferns - Britian

" We visited Nepal for a quick 3-day trekking experience and wanted something a bit different but not too strenuous. Coming from the Middle East (direct flight from Muscat) and keen hill-walkers, we were happy to walk and camp in January and relished the adventure it offered. We completed a trek in the Kathmandu valley (Nagakot, Chisapani, Shivapuri) and loved every minute of it, passing through beautiful villages and enjoying the mountain scenery in the distance. All the equipment was provided (including winter sleeping bags) and we were very well looked after by our guide Gopal (?), team of porters and cook throughout the trek; the food was delicious each meal and gave us a real sampling of Nepali cuisine - amazing what can be rustled up with two cast iron hobs and a couple of pans. They could not have been more attentive. We liked our experience it so much we are considering bringing our children (aged 9 and 7) back to explore some more of the region. Thank you team Kailash Himalaya!" Hope this can be of some use, somewhere. Best regards Sarah

I recently travelled to the Annapurna region of Nepal with my daughter and completed an unbelievable trek with Sarki Sherpa and Pemba Sherpa.  Originally I looked into going with my wife on another trek to Nepal but after reviewing and researching that trip's itinerary, I realized I could not go due to my fear of heights. Sections of that route far exceeded what I was capable of fighting through and it was obvious I could not complete it. However, I was determined to go to Nepal and experience this 'bucket list' trip of a lifetime. Long story short, after hooking up with Sarki Sherpa, I described my fear of heights (from incredibly scared at the low end to paralyzed on my hands and knees with my mind shutting down at the worst) and Sarki felt I could do a trek on the southern side of the Annapurna range. At all times Sarki, Pemba, and their team were there for me, preparing me, and helping me through some trickier parts (it is the Himalayas so there are obviously some steep parts).  They were very professional, very focused on our safety (from food preparation to altitude sickness, etc.), and were some of the finest people you will ever meet. With their leadership, I was able to experience one of the most amazing places on our planet. I truly can't thank them enough and highly recommend Soul Himalaya if you have any fear of heights. Sincerely, Cal Stewart.

Our adventure consisted of 17 days in the mountains for the 3 Pass Trek joined by our fantastic porter Pasang, as well days in Chitwan National Park, Pokhara and Kathmandu.Sarki was absolutely amazing throughout the whole adventure.

He’s very experienced and a true expert who was always made sure we had everything we needed. He was also very knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions we had whether it be about culture, the landscape, the different villages and cities we went to, etc.

I really appreciated how Sarki would always brief us for the following day’s plans after dinner which allowed us to prepare what wear and to pack for the day.  He was encouraging and alsways had a positive attitude. Sarki went above and beyond to make sure we all had fun and got the most out of our experience in Nepal.

Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours is very well organized and eco and sustainably conscious. They reduce waste on the mountains by encouraging the use of water tablets to limit the use of plastic bottles. They also prioritize work for people over using animals for transporting trekkers' bags and giving back to local communities.

I’m very thankful for the incredible experience I had with this company.  I will 100% travel with them again as I will for sure be returning to explore and have more adventures in this beautiful country.

In October 2022, 2 friends and I spent the month in Nepal and did the 17-day Three Passes and Everest Base Camp Trek with Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours, our highly qualified guide Sarki Sherpa and our amazing porter Pasang Sherpa. We then went to Chitwan National Park and Pokhara and ended our trip with a tour of Kathmandu. Our guide Sarki was absolutely amazing, and I cannot thank him enough for having made this trip so incredible and memorable. He took care of everything, went above and beyond to ensure that all our needs were met, and planned the whole trip seamlessly.

Sarki is truly a mountain expert with so much experience and knowledge. Not only did we have so much fun with him, but we also learned a lot about the mountains, wildlife, Nepali culture, and history. The trek was physically and mentally challenging but Sarki was extremely attentive, supportive, patient, and motivating, and he helped us safely push our limits. It was such a rewarding experience.

Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours is also an environmentally and socially responsible business that is worth supporting. For instance, we were encouraged to leave no trace in the mountains and to use water tablets in the mountains to purify our water rather than buy plastic bottles. Drinking 4L of water per day for 17 days would have resulted in 68 plastic bottles per person in our group. The company also supports and gives back to local communities.

I will without a doubt be back in Nepal in the future and will not hesitate to book with Sarki and Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours again.

Highly recommend Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours! In October 2022, 2 friends and I did the Three Passes and Everest Base Camp Trek along with a visit to Chitwan National Park and Pokhara with Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The main reason why this trip was so special was our guide Sarki Sherpa. From the moment we began our trek, it became clear that Sarki had extensive knowledge and experience in the mountains. The days where we had to climb the passes were challenging and exhausting but Sarki was always in a good mood and he motivated us to keep pushing. This was also my first experience at such high altitude and I was a little bit worried about altitude sickness but Sarki was extremely reassuring and gave us the best advice to prevent symptoms. He regularly reminded us to drink water and eat more food, and ensured that our pace was slow enough. In the end, I reacted quite well to the altitude.

I cannot put into words how incredible this adventure and how beautiful the scenery were. I am already thinking about my next trip to Nepal and will definitely book with Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours and Sarki Sherpa again.

My adventure with Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours, led by accomplished trekking guide and mountain leader Sarki Sherpa and his able team, was exactly that-- an experience unlike any other, with every day filled with natural beauty, culture, challenge, and feelings of anticipation, excitement and accomplishment.

Now, just shy of my 64th birthday, I have returned from the most amazing 17-day trek to Everest Base Camp (17,598'), and a sunrise hike up Kala Patthar to a height of 18,209' for the best, closest unobstructed view of Mt. Everest-- my highest elevation ever. The name of our tour was, aptly, "Young Is An Attitude," and I found that to be so true.

I was able, with Sarki Sherpa and my trekking teammates, to  overcome my life-long disabling fears, crossing suspension bridges, walking yak trails that hugged rugged mountains, maneuvering rocky trails through charming villages, and exploring some of the most glorious picture-perfect scenery I have ever experienced.

I highly recommend the team of Sarki Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Pemba Sherpa, and our porter Pasang Sherpa.  They showed the utmost in attentive customer service, were encouraging and supportive, and I felt entirely safe and in "good hands" with their knowledge of the mountains, the weather, equipment, the language, and the right places to stay.

I am impressed with these men, and Soul Himalaya's ability to acclimatize clients slowly to the increase in altitude, their conscious actions in "giving back" a percentage of their tour fees, and their ability to recognize and bring out the strength of the human spirit.

I am home now feeling accomplished, energized and inspired.  And I can't wait to return to Nepal, ready to tackle another mountain and more "trips of a lifetime" with Sarki Sherpa and Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours.

I planned a reunion with two friends, a Brit and an American whom I met in Nepal two years ago. The trip included an Everest Base Camp Trek with Soul Himalaya Treks and a visit to Chitwan National Park. During the Trek, our physical abilities were at different levels but we all succeeded in reaching our goals with the help and encouragement of our guide Sarki Sherpa and assistant guides Lakpa and Pemba Sherpa. Sarki had planned a flexible schedule to enable us to enjoy every aspect of the Trek and our beautiful surroundings. We stayed in welcoming, comfortable, clean tea houses where the food was plentiful, varied, fresh and delicious.

The beauty of the Himalayas is beyond description but what made this the best trip of my life is the way we were treated as family every step of the way. Our guides were patient, helpful, cooperative, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. They were ready to answer any questions we had and readily shared their knowledge of the mountains and Buddhist culture.

Communication in planning the trek was top notch from the beginning. Emails and questions were answered promptly. From airport pick-up to hotel selection, everything was well thought out and planned to give us different views and experiences in Kathmandu.

Following our trek we travelled to Chitwan National Park, Sauraha, still accompanied by Sarki Sherpa where we were greeted by a very knowledgeable guide Mr, Rom who took us along the river on a canoe ride, a jungle walk and safari as well as to an entertaining cultural show of the Tharu people.

We then returned to Kathmandu where we were shown parts of the city we had not experienced on our previous tour.

I would highly recommend Soul Himalaya Treks and Tours. I was fortunate enough to meet other members of the team, Dendi Sherpa and (Himalaya)Pemba Sherpa who were also very friendly and welcoming. Sarki has gone above and beyond to make sure our trip was a success and extremely memorable. I am already thinking about my next Trek in Nepal. We came as friends and left as family.

I did the Mardi Himal base camp trek in Sept 2019 with Sarki and his crew .. They were awesome, you never felt rushed or overwhelmed with the trek. They always made sure that you could do it at your own pace and that someone from the guiding crew stayed with you to help whenever you might need it Sarki was the best leader one could hope for. He anticipated all our needs and if he needed to he stayed with those who needed him most and let a junior guide step up and assume more responsibility.

They always made sure we were well informed, well fed and most of all SAFE.

I would highly recommend Sarki and his group . I have many great memories from this trip

This is one of the most authentic experience we've ever lived. We recommend Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours not only because of their professionalisme but also Kanchenjunga the 3 rd highest mountain in the word offers amazing views of its range in the eastern Himalaya. Ascending to Tamor valley, trekking trail offers stunning views of massif Kanchenjunga stretched to north- south range offers trekkers breathtaking views from the different places of the trail. From some point, Mt. Makalu and eastern face of Mt. Everest are also seen. The hidden beauty of the land and the unspoiled area provides us ever experienced excitement while trekking in this region.

A fantastic trip along the three passes route to Everest base camp with Soul Himalayas in March 2018. We enjoyed the fabulous mountain scenery in the Himalayas, and learning all about the Buddhist culture and way of life. I recently did the Mardi Himal Basecamp Trek with Sarki and Pemba and it was a remarkable experience I will never forget. I travelled in October with a 50+ group all of us with different fitness levels but we all managed to complete the Trek and have fun doing it. Lifelong friendships were made, not only with the trekkers but with the guides as well. Fun and lots of laughter was on the agenda every day. The trek was definitely not easy and if you plan on doing it I would recommend getting in the best possible condition you can before going. The views you experience and the sense of peace brought on by the mountains is well worth the hard work to get there. Sarki and Pemba are knowledgeable, safety conscious and very responsible guides. Balu did not Trek with us but was our guide in Pokhara, Balu has a great sense or organization and of humour lots of fun to have around! These guys have a passion for Nepal that is contagious., If you are considering a trip to Nepal and a Trek to the Himalayas … don’t hesitate to do it! I highly recommend this group.

Sarki is a wonderful leader, always making sure everyone was happy, relaxed and having a memorable time. I will treasure my time on this trek forever. Thank you Sarki and crew, you all get A+++++ from me!!!

The next day we also met Kami Sherpa our assistent guide and Chhiring Sherpa our strong porter before the drive to Pokhara. From Pokhara we went on a 9-days trek starting in Nayapul, via Ghorepani, to A.B.C. The scenery along the trek is just breathtaking. The arrangements were perfect and our guide, assistent guide and porter were very friendly and efficient. They were also flexible in terms of changing our route along the trek and arranged everything according to our needs. We would highly recommend using Soul Himalaya to anybody and will most definitely use them on our next trek in lovely Nepal.

Himalayan Masters celebrate successful season guiding teams to Everest Base Camp.

Bhaktapur,Nepal, April 21, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --
