A display graphic of the USS Enterprise -F, slated for early decommissioning
The Enterprise -F was a contemporary of the USS Voyager -B . In 2401, the ship was slated for early decommissioning around the same time as the terrorist attack in District Seven on M'talas Prime . ( PIC : " The Next Generation ")
Ro's secret files, including one on the Enterprise -F
The Enterprise -F was implicated in Commander Ro Laren 's undercover research as being compromised by a suspected Changeling plot to infiltrate Starfleet . As it was included in the secret data files hidden on her Bajoran earring , she managed to get to Admiral Jean-Luc Picard shortly before her death. ( PIC : " Imposters ")
During the events of Frontier Day in 2401, the vessel was under the command of Admiral Elizabeth Shelby . Shortly after departing Sol Station , she and her crew were partially assimilated by the Borg Collective , and Shelby was killed. The Enterprise -F was forced to partake in the attack on Sol Station, and was preparing to target Earth 's cities when the Borg were ultimately defeated by the crew of the USS Enterprise -D . ( PIC : " Võx ", " The Last Generation ")
Following the destruction of the Borg, the Enterprise -F and the rest of the surviving fleet were released from assimilation. The ship was eventually decommissioned as planned and it was replaced in 2402 by the USS Enterprise -G . ( PIC : " The Last Generation ")

…USS Enterprise NCC-1701-F, Odyssey -class…
According to the Star Trek: Picard Logs , the Enterprise -F was an Odyssey -class starship, [1] but it was only after the airing of the third season episode " Võx " that Star Trek: Picard Production Designer Dave Blass confirmed that particular piece of information. [2]
USS Enterprise NCC-1701-F, Schematics
The Enterprise -F made its first on-screen appearance in " The Next Generation ", where it was shown as a screen graphic during a computer search for upcoming events made by Raffaela Musiker on La Sirena , shortly before the terrorist attack on M'talas Prime . Several third season trailers released prior to the season premiere had already shown the Enterprise in flight during a ceremony, which turned out to be the 250th Frontier Day (2401) in the series' penultimate episode, "Võx".
The same computer graphic was used for Ro Laren 's hidden files in " Imposters ", albeit mirrored.
According to Terry Matalas during a Reddit AMA ("Ask Me Anything"), Shelby was the ceremonial CO of the Enterprise -F and that her permanent captain for the television version was probably a different version of the Star Trek Online (contemporary) in-game captain, Va'Kel Shon ( β ) (see: below ). [3]
Apocrypha [ ]
USS Enterprise-F MSD
The Star Trek: Picard Logs had it stated that the Enterprise -F was launched in 2386 , and had been commanded by several captains over the course of her fifteen years in service. The ship's critical systems were severely compromised during the Monfette Gambit ( β ), a rescue effort for Raillian refugees on Fenton IV ( β ). It was therefore that the Enterprise -F was scheduled for an early decommission. [4]
The Odyssey -class USS Enterprise -F ( β ) is featured in Star Trek Online (in which the ship had originally been introduced in the first place, already in 2012) as the new Federation flagship and was by 2409 commanded by the aforementioned Andorian Captain Va'Kel Shon. She is first encountered by the player in 2409, defending Deep Space 9 from a Jem'Hadar attack. In the Online universe, the ship was refitted in 2410 into a Yorktown -[sub]class ( β ) vessel after having sustained further critical damage during a later conflict.
On its September spread of the 2022 Ships of the Line calendar, the (refit-)USS Enterprise -F is seen defending Deep Space 9 again, against the Hur'q this time – or rather against their servants, the Drantzuli ( β ), as was established in Star Trek Online .
According to the novel Imzadi , an Enterprise -F commanded by Data in 2408 during an alternate future was encountered by the crew of the Enterprise -D.
In the alternate timeline from the DS9 book trilogy Millennium , following the destruction of the USS Enterprise -E, Starfleet launched the Enterprise -class ( β ) USS Enterprise -F ( β ), which Thomas Riker described as being like the USS Defiant to the tenth power. The ship was originally commanded by Jean-Luc Picard, but was given over to William T. Riker after Picard's promotion to admiral. Among Riker's crew were Geordi La Forge , Deanna Troi , Tom Paris , and B'Elanna Torres . The Enterprise -F was lost with all hands in a horrific battle that saw the destruction of Earth. This timeline was aborted thanks to the efforts of Benjamin Sisko and the rest of Deep Space 9 's crew.

REVIEW: Eaglemoss XL — USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E
Connect with trekcore.
Our look at Eaglemoss’ Official Star Trek Starships XL Edition line of model spacecraft continues today with their killer Sovereign -class release: the USS Enterprise- E , which debuted in Star Trek: First Contact .
Captain Picard’s second Enterprise made its first appearance in the 1996 film, and the John Eaves-designed starship continued its big-screen run (with modifications made for each new appearance) in both 1998’s Star Trek: Insurrection and 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis , transitioning from a physical ILM-built studio model to an all-digital CGI design across the three films in which it appeared.
Eaglemoss’ original 5.5″ Enterprise- E was released back in mid-2014, and three years later the ship has been scaled up to almost double in size, with their new XL Enterprise -E measuring more than 10.5″ in length; the warp nacelles on the new model are almost as long as the original model in total.
This edition of the ship (and its 2014 predecessor) are themed in color and design based upon the Insurrection version of the ship — rather than the darker-hulled Nemesis Enterprise -E — and while it’s certainly a well-detailed design, it would be nice to see Eaglemoss revisit the ship with a Nemesis -style variant at some point.
The XL scale of this model really gives it the heft those subscriber-sized ships don’t always have: with most of the saucer section and upper half of the primary hull cut from die-cast metal, the Enterprise- E is certainly a front-heavy design.
That added weight, however, is well-managed with the grip of the display stand that comes with this starship — and unlike some of the other model releases from the line we’ve seen, this ship is perfectly balanced when on display, and never threatens to be accidentally knocked off of the dock.
The hull markings on this model are also nicely crisp and clear — from the dozens of escape-pod hatches, to the grey-toned aztecing of hull plating, to the tight text of the starship name and registry number — but while it’s not quite as easy to see as the original Enterprise model , there are still a number of places where painted-on window markings don’t align with etched windows in the metal hull.
It’s nice to have the texture of ‘real’ windows, but at a certain point, one must wonder why these model designs aren’t simply updated to make these windows paint-only details, rather than trying (and failing) to fill in these tiny divots with coloring.
To be honest, though, the misaligned windows can get a bit lost in the overall set of hull markings on the Enterprise -E model; you do need to look somewhat closely to identify the issue.
Aside from that one small deficiency, the overall craftsmanship of this model is quite impressive, and that includes the the molded-plastic sections of the Enterprise- E.
The underside of the saucer and primary hull are filled with detail, from raised hull plating and the captain’s yacht to the golden deflector dish and Starfleet pennants. Bright red and blue plastic inserts add a nicely-saturated bit of color to the ship, each translucent which allow them to almost appear to glow in the right lighting.
The underside of the saucer and the paired warp nacelles each have a little bit of flex to them, but past that, there’s nothing to suggest any bit of delicacy in this model.
The XL USS Enterprise -E retails from Eaglemoss at $74.95 in the USA (and £49.99 in the UK shop ) when buying individually, but drops to $59.95 if you subscribe to the Star Trek Starships XL program for ongoing delivery.
We’ll be back with reviews of the XL USS Enterprise- D and XL Enterprise NX-01 soon, along with more coverage of the Official Starships Collection throughout the month of December.

Eaglemoss' build the enterprise-d series launches in 2021.
Over 120 issues (!), the collection will build a 70cm long model of the Enterprise-D, with die cast metal parts, and lighting throughout (including nacelles, impulse engines, deflector, windows, and navigation lights). The model can also saucer separate, with independent power supplies in each part so the lights will still function while separated. Everything comes pre-painted, and either clicks or screws into place. Each issue also comes with a magazine (see below for details of that).
Here's a little video showing the model in action:
3 comments:
The seams look problematic, and the nacelles seem cockeyed… the cowling around the ramscoops also appears to be the wrong angle and the thickness of the secondary hull/pylons looks a bit too thick. Are the windows protruding? A styrene version would probably make a better, more accurate model and cost far less. And you could probably supply all the pieces in one delivery. Best of luck to them.
Some basic info you probably should have included in the post: <> Total cost of the Enterprise-D model is approximately $1500 USD. <> It will take 2.5 years to receive all of the necessary parts. Both of which make it... much less appealing, to me at least. Even if you have the money for it, who wants to deal with a WIP model this big for three years?
So glad I found your post before I pulled the trigger on this. It does not mention ANYWHERE how many issues it will take to complete the ship. Hard hard hard pass on a 1500$ model. Despite its size and awe
