5 Best Paris Catacombs tours to give you Goosebumps

Updated 8 March 2024 by  Leyla Alyanak  — Parisian by birth, Lyonnaise by adoption, historian by passion

Make sure you get your tickets ahead of time for your Paris Catacombs tours – I did this last time and I admit I enjoyed not having to wait...

Descend into the enigmatic depths of Paris and into the hidden world below, where more than 350km (220mi) of underground passages house the remains of six million souls.

You are entering the Paris Catacombs.

NOTE: Pages on this site may contain affiliate links, which bring in a small commission at no cost to you.

NO TIME TO READ EVERYTHING? 🕥

💀 Choose this  Paris Catacombs Semi-Private Tour with VIP Access ! It gets you to the front of the line and into special hidden areas not open to everyone.

In the 18th century, overcrowded cemeteries led to a daring decision: millions of bones would be transported to a nearby underground quarry. It would take 12 years to complete the task.

Today, you can quietly wander through the subterranean chambers of the Paris Catacombs, past walls of stacked bones and somewhat macabre compositions where history and darkness intertwine.

Visiting the Catacombs was one of my own personal Paris highlights and if you want to avoid the long lines to get into what is often called "The Empire of Death", choose one of the tours below or, at the very least, get a skip-the-line ticket .

1.  Catacombs of Paris Semi-Private VIP Restricted Access Tour

2.  VIP Skip-the-Line Restricted Access Tour

3.  Skip-the-Line Special Access Tour

4.  The Paris Underbelly Walking Tour  (NOTE: NOT AVAILABLE IN 2024)

5.  Skip-the-Line Ticket and Audio Guide

What you should know before visiting the Catacombs

Essentials for France

5 Best Paris Catacombs tours and tickets

Standing outside on a meltingly hot day, with my tour tickets in hand, I was able to whip right past the crowds and believe me, that felt great!

Many attractions can be visited on your own, including the Paris Catacombs, but because only 200 people are allowed in at a time, the lines can be long.

To get the most out of your visit, here are the 5 top-rated Catacombs tours in Paris, packed with history and excitement.

1. Catacombs of Paris Semi-Private VIP Restricted Access Tour

Hallway in Paris catacombs

This is a small group tour and provides the best of the best, from excellent guides to private viewings the average visitor won't get to see.

This is ideal if you're looking for a more intimate experience, and want to be in a position to ask a few questions without having to fight through the crowds.

The fact that the tickets are skip-the-line saves you time, because the lines here can be extremely long – it seems everyone wants to visit the Catacombs (with reason, I'd say!)

⏳  TOUR LENGTH: 2 hours    ✔︎  Fast-track skip-the-line entrance ✔︎  Learn the stories behind the Catacombs ✔︎  Explore the underground's history with an expert English-speaking guide ✔︎  Small group limited to 6 people

🎟️  BOOK YOUR SEMI-PRIVATE TOUR HERE

The Catacombs are an experience, but one thing that makes a visit more memorable is the storytelling that goes with it.

Have you ever heard of the man who wandered down into the Catacombs a couple of centuries ago... and never came back?

He'll be at the heart of some of the "ghost stories" you'll hear on this tour. You'll also learn about illegal parties and raves, and the Catacombs more recent history during World War II.

⭐️  Rating: 5 / 5  ⭐️

This is a really cool experience especially with the extra access that comes with a guided tour. — David_B

Overall --- A++ — Ricardo_A

Leo was wonderful. Her knowledge of the catacombs was vast and had as true sense of passion. I would book again with her in a second! — Elizabeth_B

This tour was a highlight of our trip! — Susan_B

2. VIP Skip-the-Line Restricted Access Tour

Sign down in the Paris Catacombs

This VIP tour is sold by a different operator but is basically the same as #1. Choose either one and you can't go wrong.

Here, too, you'll be in a small group with an expert guide, and you'll have access to secret corners of the Catacombs not available to normal ticket-holders.

On both tours, you'll learn plenty of history, especially dating back to the French Revolution (victims of the guillotine are buried here) and World War II, when the tunnels were used both by the Resistance and the Nazis.

⏳  TOUR LENGTH: 2 hours    ✔︎  Fast-track entry into the Catacombs ✔︎  Explanatory visit with an expert, English-speaking guide ✔︎  Access to behind-the-scenes areas ✔︎  Small VIP group with a maximum of 6 people

🎟️  BOOK YOUR VIP TOUR HERE

Part of the special feeling of being on a small group tour is watching as a guard unlocks a gate to let you through  and closes them behind you – hence the VIP label.

Only a tiny portion of the Catacombs are open to the public, about 0.5%, so most of the tunnels are beyond reach. On this small group tour, you'll get a sneak peek at a some of the hidden portions.

⭐️  Rating: 4.9 / 5  ⭐️

"It was excellent having a small guided tour with 6 people, it made it more intimate."  —Rebecca, Australia

"We were able to go in lots of areas the general public couldn’t. Our guide was amazing." — Laurel, USA

"Awesome tour. Unique, interesting history, and a little macabre. Such a great guide as well!" — Nate, USA

"Was a brilliant tour with a brilliant guide!" — Caroline, UK

What do you do with your "stuff" as you're walking around taking pictures of the Catacombs? I use this wonderful infinity scarf  for my keys, ID and cards – no bag to carry, no backpack to hoist. Absolutely perfect for when you travel light.

3. Skip-the-Line Special Access Tour

Barrel bone sculpture in Paris Catacombs

While the two above tours are small (6 people or less), this is a medium-sized tour that can reach 19 up to 19 people. If you don't mind a larger group and would like to pay less than you would on a smaller tour, this one is for you.

It has many of  the same benefits. You get an English-speaking guide who knows the Catacombs intimately, and you'll have a skip-the-line ticket and avoid the long waits at the entrance.

You'll hear all about the stories and legends of the Catacombs, and about what it took to engineer their move from city cemeteries to these underground tunnels, a move that took 12 years to complete.

⏳  TOUR LENGTH: 2 hours    ✔︎  Fast-track entry into the Catacombs ✔︎  Access to areas off-limits to the general public ✔︎  Local guide to answer your questions and provide context

🎟️  BOOK YOUR SKIP-THE-LINE SPECIAL ACCESS TOUR HERE

And yes, you'll also have access to "hidden" areas not open to the general public.

As you enter areas that aren't normally accessible, you'll visit secret sculptures and even a hidden chapel, and receive personal explanations of how they came to be. Some of these are almost too incredible to be real!

The only significant difference between this tour and #1 and #2 is the size of the tour (this one is a bit more crowded) and the price (this one is cheaper).

⭐️ Rating: 4.8 / 5 ⭐️

"A wealth of information with the right amount of humor. We loved it!!!" — Justin, USA

"If you go on your own without a tour guide you will miss out on the stories and the secret locked spaces that will only be shown on a private tour." — USA

"Definitely a MUST if you are visiting the Catacombs for the first time. Informative and Line Bypass is priceless." — Ron, Canada

4. The Paris Underbelly Walking Tour

NOTE: THIS TOUR IS NOT AVAILABLE IN 2024.

Dark passageway in the Paris Catacombs

This tour, on the other hand, is quite different because it is private.

You get your own guide, and no one else tags along, only your group of up to 10 people. It's up to you: do it alone, or with your family or friends.

The advantage of this more "personal" approach is that you don't feel constrained by asking too many questions, as you might in a group full of strangers. You can ask away, and no question is too silly or repetitive.

Of course this tour includes everything the others do, from a skip-the-line ticket to access to "behind the scenes" portions of the Catacombs, and if you'd like it as an add-on, Addie (the guide) is happy to take you to some delectable pastry shops afterwards!

⏳  TOUR LENGTH: 2.5 hours    ✔︎  The spookiest of tours ✔︎  The most ghost-centric ✔︎  With peeks at Notre-Dame from the outside

🎟️  BOOK YOUR PARIS UNDERBELLY TOUR HERE

Did you know that the population of the dead whose bones are under the city of Paris is twice the population of the living residents in Paris?

This is just one of the many unusual facts you'll learn about Paris and the Catacombs as you make your way through the underground tunnels.

What I love most about having a dedicated guide is that it allows you to delve more deeply into the history and legends of a place. If something strikes your fancy, you can explore it more in depth and ask plenty of specific questions to intensify your knowledge.

"Addie is the best your guide you can hope for." — Rachel C, USA

"Addie was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the catacombs. A great tour." — Harold S, USA

"She knew so many details of the catacombs!" — Joseph C, USA

"Our tour was a family group ranging in ages from 13 to 81 and she made it interesting for each of us." — Julie O, USA

5. Skip-the-Line Ticket and Audio Guide

Bones stacked in Paris Catacombs

This is the simplest of my five recommendations: a skip-the-line ticket and an audioguide.

The Catacombs are incredibly popular and during the high season, it could take several hours to reach the ticket counter. Unless you want to spend your holiday standing in line, a skip-the-line ticket is the sensible way to go.

Having an audioguide (available in English) allows you stop where you want to and repeat the commentary if you feel you've missed something – perfect if you're an independent-minded traveler who prefers to do things on their own terms.

⏳  TOUR LENGTH:  1 hour    ✔︎  Pre-booked skip-the-line ticket ✔︎  Guided tour with an audioguide ✔︎  Explore at your own pace

🎟️  BOOK YOUR SKIP-THE-LINE TICKET HERE

The audioguide will tell you all about the "Empire of Death" and how (and why) the Catacombs were originally created from ancient quarries.

As you walk along, the recording will point out such landmarks as the "Barrel" and signs related to streets above where significant events took place.

Whenever you feel like silence, you'll be able to switch off the audioguide and get a sense of the eternal stillness of the six million souls that have been buried here for centuries.

⭐️  Rating: 4.5 / 5  ⭐️

"Lots of historical information about Paris via the audio guide. Very impressive." — Alexandra, Germany

"Great self tour!" — Charlene, USA

"Amazing experience not to be missed!!!!" — Tim, USA

"Quite difficult to get into, so grab your tickets as soon as you can!" — David, Australia

Here are a few practical considerations you should consider when visiting the Catacombs.

  • Only 200 people are allowed in at a time, but it can still get a bit crowded if everyone is interested in the same "room".
  • The tunnels are quite cool and humid all year, around 14°C/57°F, so please dress accordingly. Bring a sweater, and wear good shoes with a bit of tread, because it can get a bit slippery.
  • The toilets are only accessible on your way out so make sure you don't need them on your way in.
  • No large bags are allowed, only small purses.
  • The Catacombs are not recommended for anyone who suffers from claustrophobia. The tunnels aren't particularly narrow but they are tunnels nonetheless, with no daylight.
  • Nor are they suitable for people with mobility issues. The Catacombs have 130 steps, which you have to descend on arrival and go up on the way back. There is no elevator access.
  • This is one of the most popular attractions in Paris and tickets will sell out quickly, especially at the height of the spring and summer seasons, so make these a priority for advance purchase when you're doing your planning.

Visiting the Paris Catacombs: What We’ll Cover

Imagine you’re walking down a street in a metropolis like New York City and everywhere you go, there’s a putrid smell in the air. That’s what life was like in Paris back in the mid-18th century because the main cemetery in the city, the Holy Innocents Cemetery, overflowed with dead bodies. Thus, the catacombs project was born and legends created.

Before you visit the Paris Catacombs, here are some numbers to consider: You’ll be descending 65 feet (20m) below ground, your visit will involve 243 steps (131 going down and 112 coming back up), and you’ll be walking 4,921 feet (1,500 m) of tunnels. Here’s what else you need to know about visitng the Paris catacombs:

  • Opening hours and tickets
  • How much time to budget for your visit
  • What to see at the Paris Catacombs

You can buy your Paris Catacombs tickets on-site or online in advance. It’s also possible to buy last-minute tickets (on the day of your visit) online for a reduced price (except in summer): €15 for adults and free for under-18s, but they don’t last long so you need to be fast in the morning.

How Long To Spend at the Paris Catacombs

Interior of the Paris Catacombs with a wall of arranged human bones

Short answer : 1 hour

Visiting the Paris Catacombs is a really cool experience. How often do you get to see millions of skeletons beneath the streets of Paris? Plan to spend around an hour in the catacombs. Some people will be more fascinated than others, but the actual setup is quite interesting. It can be slow going with the steps and the 1.5-kilometer one-way circuit of the catacombs.

It’s important to keep in mind that the catacombs have been open to the public since 1809. That’s over 200 years of people walking around the tunnels! So, they built them in such a way that they’re a form of entertainment as well.

As a result, you’ll see various formations of bones put together in strange, but amusing piles at certain points. If you think you’d enjoy spending a bit longer in the catacombs and seeing some areas off-limits to the general public, join our  privileged-access Paris Catacombs tour .

Pro Tip : Wear comfortable shoes and take a sweater or light jacket. You may be tempted to dress up on the day of your visit—it’s Paris after all! However, trying to see the catacombs in high heels or your new Ferragamos would be a huge mistake. You’ll be walking in an underground tunnel with loose earth, dirt, and even some wet spots. Also, the temperature underground is a constant 57.2 ºF (14ºC), so if you get cold easily, bring something warm to wear.

What To See at the Paris Catacombs

As you make your way down into the Paris Catacombs, keep an eye out for these interesting sights. For more in-depth descriptions, related stories, and images, see our article on the top things to see in the catacombs.

This cemetery had been in use since the Middle Ages and various attempts had been made to move the bones and burials. The church opposed moving the existing bones due to the sanctity of burial but also didn’t want to stop burials in the cemetery, because of the burial fee they charged.

Burials continued there until the cemetery was finally closed in 1780 out of desperation—and for the important reason of hygiene. The cemetery was located right next to the biggest food market in the city, Les Halles. In 1788, they started to move the bones to subterranean tunnels located below the city, which became known as the Catacombs.

Rome Catacombs at Night Tour Description

Your 2.5-hour tour includes:

Guided tour of Capuchin Crypts

Guided tour of Priscilla Catacombs

A fun English-speaking guide

Maximum group size of 20 people

Private transportation between locations

Please note: Some of the sites on this small group tour are sacred, so both men and women must cover their knees and shoulders at all times. We know that Rome gets quite hot during the summertime, but it's always a great idea to bring a shawl/scarf/sweater with you to cover your knees and shoulders when necessary.

Capuchin Crypts

Housed beneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione Cappuccini are five chapels, each filled with the bones of Capuchin friars who were buried at a time when the Catholic Church permitted burial underneath church grounds. The Capuchin Crypts were not created with the intention of macabre art; the idea was to symbolize mortality and passage of life through the earth.

Without having to wait in line, you’ll visit all five chapels: Crypt of the Resurrection, Crypt of the Skulls, Crypt of the Pelvises, Crypt of the Leg Bones and Thigh Bones, and Crypt of the Three Skeletons. It’s a chilling and fascinating display to experience up close.

Transportation to Catacombs of Priscilla

After your eerie visit to the bone chapels, you’ll hop on a private vehicle for a 15-25 minute drive (depending on traffic) to our next destination, the Catacombs of Priscilla. No need to stress about getting from one destination to the next. Our team will arrange all of that.

Catacombs of Priscilla

The Priscilla Catacombs will be opened with an ancient key right before your eyes so you can explore with hardly any crowds like a VIP. Often known as the “Queen of Catacombs,” the Catacombs of Priscilla stretch for about 5 miles. The site not only served as a burial space almost 2,000 years ago, but also operated as a place of worship for Christians.

Your guide will escort you into three separate sections: Acilii zone, Greek Chapel, and Arenario. Inside, you’ll find biblical artistic inscriptions, such as Moses striking water from a rock, the Madonna and Child and the Sacrifice of Isaac. Finally, whether or not these catacombs actually contain the body of St. Priscilla is a subject of fierce debate.

Something different!

After days of touring various old towns in Italy, this tour was a welcome change. Fiona was very knowledgeable and also shared a little about life living in Rome. On this tour I learned some history that was not taught in school. I now want to do some research and learn more about the Capuchin practices and the challenges facing Christians before the 15th century.

Is there a dress code to enter the religious sites on this tour?

We ask both men and women to cover knees and shoulders, otherwise you may be refused entry to religious sites and miss out on a portion of your tour. We understand the summers in Rome can be hot, so a great alternative is to bring a shawl/scarf/sweater with you. That way, you can cover your knees and shoulders when necessary.

Does this tour include hotel pickup?

No hotel pickup is included on this tour. You’ll meet your guide at the designated meeting point.

Where does this tour end?

After visiting the catacombs and crypts, your driver will return you to central Rome at Piazza Barberini where your tour started.

What if I want to see the catacombs during the day?

No problem! You can book onto our daytime option Rome Catacombs Tour .

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Taylor Swift releases YouTube short that appears to have new Eras Tour dances

short catacombs tour

Taylor Swift  released a new YouTube Shorts video and fans believe clips are signifying a "The Tortured Poets Department" number or set during the Eras Tour.

After the double album was released Friday, fans wondered if the singer would fit any of the 31 songs into the three-plus hour set. In the quick 15-second video, fans pointed out a couple of suspect shots, including Swift leaning against a railing that seems to have the "TTPD" logo and a quick scene where her backup dancers hold poles and wear top hats.

Swift has been on a two-month break from the Eras Tour and has spent much of her time in Los Angeles.

If there is a new Eras Tour set, the next question is where would she add the era? "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince's" opening line is a perfect opening for an artist who has released seven albums and hasn't seen fans: "It's been a long time coming."

She could end the show with the "TTPD" set, but "Karma" is also a good show closer. Other than those two options, she could place "TTPD" after "Reputation" and before "Speak Now" or also right before "Midnights."

"A fortnight til Paris 🤍," Swift says in the caption. Her next tour stop is Paris, France on May 9. Swift will tour in Europe for 51 shows until she takes a break and heads back to the United States and Canada.

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

short catacombs tour

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

George Bryan, Bryan Bros Golf, Myrtle Beach Classic

George Bryan IV is part of the Bryan Bros Golf YouTube Golf channel. He and his brother Wesley Bryan create various golf content to entertain fans.

On Tuesday, Play Golf Myrtle Beach published its “Q at Myrtle Beach” qualifier on YouTube.

George was one of the eight YouTubers who participated in the 16-player, 18-hole shootout for one spot in this year's inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic .

He and pro golfer Matt Akins tied at 3-under after 18, but Akins beat him in a playoff.

After the main video, the eight content creators began posting their videos from the qualifier.

Yet on Thursday, Twitter user Patrick Lowry congratulated Bryan for earning a spot at the Myrtle Beach Classic. The tweet included a YouTube link to the Bryan Bros video from the qualifier .

George Bryan earns a spot at the Myrtle Beach Classic. well deserved, couldn't be happier for him. @wesleybryangolf @bryanbrosgolf #golf #pgatour https://t.co/eDDl1qETdu pic.twitter.com/HspcbdGYQl — Patrick Lowry (@thepatricklowry) April 26, 2024

The video showcased his journey through the qualifier. Around the 16:44 mark, Bryan explains he has a phone call with the Myrtle Beach Classic’s tournament director, Darren Nelson.

“Hey, I wanted to see what you’re doing May 6-12. We’d like to offer you a spot in the Myrtle Beach Classic,” Nelson said.

With the biggest grin, Bryan gives the camera a fist pump and looks beyond excited.

“Yes, I’m there,” he said. “Holy cow! Not going to lie when you said it was a call, I had my hopes, but I didn’t want my mind to go there and think that I would actually have a chance to play in a PGA Tour event. Honestly, I don’t even know what to think right now. Like I’m still like — holy cow.”

Nelson acknowledged he came close in the qualifier and how the Myrtle Beach Classic team wanted to offer him the spot.

Bryan gave another fist pump, and the excitement radiated from him.

It will be his first PGA Tour event in his home state of South Carolina. George and Wesley both played in the Butterfield Burmuda Championship last fall. However, it is clear playing in the Palmetto State in front of a home crowd is special.

Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi ‘s Coachella set was one of the most anticipated last-minute adds to the second weekend of the the 2024 festival. Sadly, the last couple songs Cudi was supposed to perform went without him.

Cudi was nearing the end of his set on Sunday evening when he injured himself in the middle of singing “Best Memories,” a song he shares with David Guetta. In fan-captured video , Cudi is seen launching himself off stage and landing beside a security guard. He was unable to stand on his own and had to be escorted off the stage.

Popular on Variety

Earlier that night, Cudi’s show attracted one of the biggest crowds of the weekend at the Sahara tent where he performed two new songs live for the first time during his foreshortened set, “Moon Man Shit” and “Blue Sky.” He also performed his hits “Up Up & Away,” “Tequila Shots,” and more.

The musician last appeared at Coachella in 2019 when he brought Kanye West as a surprise guest to perform tracks off their collaborative “Kids See Ghosts” album. Cudi is set to embark on a 43-date world tour in support of his new album “Insano,” and will kick off the tour’s North American leg on July 28 in Austin, Texas.

Review: Neil Young & Crazy Horse strike heart of gold at tour-opening San Diego concert

Neil Young performing at SDSU on April 24, 2024.

The concert began with an epic, 15-minute version of ‘Cortez The Killer’ that featured extra lyrics recently unearthed by Young. Guitarist-singer Micah Nelson, Willie’s son, very ably assumed the role in Crazy Horse of Nils Lofgren, now on tour with Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.

When Neil Young sang “rock and roll will never die” near the conclusion of his tour-opening LOVE EARTH concert with Crazy Horse Wednesday in San Diego, you believed him.

Those words, from his 1978 song, “Hey Hey My My (Into the Black),” sounded like a defiant vow in the face of possible obsolescence 46 years ago. Now, they are a statement of fact from a proud maverick who sounds more committed than ever, even — or, rather, especially — at a time when rock is increasingly becoming a niche genre pushed aside by formulaic pop, hip-hop and dance-music.

At 78, Young remains a staunch keeper of the flame whose passion for music burns as bright as ever. If anyone thinks this veteran singer, songwriter and guitarist is ready to kick back in his old age, he and his band immediately and convincingly refuted such notions with their powerful, nearly two-hour performance at SDSU’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. (They are set to perform a second sold-out show at the same venue Thursday night.)

Young and his three-man band opened with “Cortez the Killer,” an epic number from their 1975 album, “Zuma.” But this was no sentimental journey down nostalgia lane, nor was it a tentative, shake-off-the-dust run through.

Their carefully calibrated version of “Cortez” built to a series of powerful climaxes Monday and lasted 15 minutes — nearly twice as long as the original on “Zuma.” The song began with an opening guitar jam that lasted 7 minutes before Young’s reedy vocals commenced. For good measure, near the conclusion of “Cortez,” he sang — for the first time anywhere in concert — a missing verse he recently came upon that had been cut from the 1975 recording.

The unearthed lyrics provided additional depth and a palpable sense of despair to Young’s tour de force song about Hernán Cortez, the bloody Spanish conqueror of Mexico’s Aztec Empire: I floated on the water / I ate that ocean wave / Two weeks after the slaughter / I was living in a cave / They came too late to get me / But there’s no one here to set me free / From this rocky grave / To that snowed-out ocean wave.

The next selection was the buoyant “Cinnamon Girl,” a choice cut from 1969’s “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere,” the first album Young and Crazy Horse made together. It clocked in at a crisp three minutes.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse performed at the Open Air Theatre at San Diego State April 24, 2024.

The rest of the concert included several other extended jams, with “Down by the River” and “Love and Only Love” both clocking in at a glorious 16 minutes (but not lasting one second too long). Conversely, Young’s tender solo acoustic versions of “Comes a Time,” “Heart of Gold” and “Human Highway” were each delivered with admirable concision.

The manner in which he alternated between longer and shorter selections served as a master class on how to pace a concert to build momentum and achieve maximum dynamic tension and release.

The final encore was an eight-minute rendition of “My My Hey Hey (Into the Black),” whose line There’s more to the picture than meets the eye could be a synopsis of Young’s career and his dogged determination to do things his way, every time, no matter what the trends of the day may be.

At SDSU, Young and his longtime Crazy Horse compadres — bassist/singer Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina, both 80 — were focused and in sync from start to finish. They were joined by guitarist/singer Micah Nelson, 33, who on Monday had played a key role accompanying his father, Willie Nelson, at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park.

Willie Nelson performs at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park on Monday, April 22, 2024.

Review: Willie Nelson’s San Diego concert defined, not defied, the passing of time. He turns 91 on April 29.

The American music-master and his band warmed up a damp, cool evening at The Shell. David Sanger, the drummer in opening act Asleep At The Wheel, took the ferry back to his family’s home in Coronado after the show.

April 23, 2024

Micah Nelson was performing in place of Crazy Horse charter member Nils Lofgren, who is now on tour in The E Street Band with his other longtime employer, Bruce Springsteen. Those are big shoes to fill, but Nelson was so in sync with Young you’d think they had been musical partners for decades.

The stage was bedecked with the giant, faux Fender guitar amplifiers, speaker cabinets and road cases Young and Crazy Horse used on their 1978 Rust Never Sleeps tour. There were no video screens on the stage, the better for the audience — which included basketball great Bill Walton and Las Vegas Raiders NFL team owner Mark Davis — to focus completely on the music at hand.

The SDSU concert — the start of Young and Crazy Horse’s first major tour together in a decade — came a year after Young’s mesmerizing solo concert here at The Shell. Wednesday’s performance was even more mesmerizing, in large part because of the musical empathy between the four musicians.

Review: Neil Young delivered singular San Diego solo concert by digging deep for new/old musical gold

The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee performed his first San Diego solo concert in 31 years, mixing classics with deep, deep album cuts

July 12, 2023

When they locked into a groove, which was often, they seemed to be of one mind. And it’s difficult to think of any other rock band of any vintage that can gain as much traction from so many slow-paced songs.

With few exceptions, Young’s biting guitar solos contained a minimum of notes, but he made each one count, repeatedly going into a zone where feeling and intensity trump quantity. Or, to invoke the title of Young’s 1988 album: “This Note’s For You.”

Apart from a heartfelt spoken tribute to the late David Briggs — the producer of many of Young’s albums with (and without) Crazy Horse — Young’s comments to the audience were along the lines of: “Thank you” and “How ya doin’?”

Otherwise, he let his music speak for him, and it spoke volumes.
