This morning, we’ll make our way to the culturally diverse capital of northern Thailand - Chiang Mai, checking in to our traditional guesthouse in the old city. We will explore the city, chill or do some shopping, then head out for a night out in the town! The next day is a full day trip exploring the culture and natural wonders of Chiang Mai. First up is the iconic Doi Suthep Temple followed by buffet lunch on local fish farm before visiting the fascinating ‘sticky’ waterfalls.

Trek through and stay overnight in the amazing jungle of Chiang Mai. Wander through beautiful rice paddy fields, see stunning waterfalls, visit a local tribe and then bamboo raft down the river!

Frequently Asked Questions

There’s never a bad time to travel in Thailand and Vietnam. Most months of the year you will experience both sunshine and possibly some rain. It’s usually quite hot and humid most of the time, but it can occasionally get cold, especially in the north of Vietnam between November and February, so it’s always best to bring a couple of warm layers with your summer clothing.

This is a backpacker style trip, aimed at those happy to stay in nice, clean budget 2-3 star style hotels and guesthouses. The homestay is quite rural so expect some bumpy roads, western but basic amenities and more bugs and wildlife in the area.

Vietnam is a large country, and we experience a lot of it! So expect some longer travel days, with some loud motorbike traffic in the main centres. In Thailand, you will be on a variety of private and public transport including one overnight sleeper train in a multi-share cabin. This is a great way to experience the real Thailand.

Delicious vegetarian cuisine is plentiful in Vietnam and Thailand, however strict gluten free and vegan options can be harder as egg and fish sauce are common ingredients. But we will do our best to provide suitable options. A wide variety of Western meals is not common, however the authentic local food is outstanding!

This trip includes an overnight trek to the Hill tribes of Chiang Mai, which requires an average level of fitness.

When should I arrive for my tour?

It’s best to arrive on the actual start date. This is when most people arrive. There are no activities on the first day but the group gets together in the evening for a welcome dinner at around 7pm. Sometimes people like to arrive a day or two before the trip starts so they can do their own exploring or just have a bit of time to chill before all the fun begins. Where can I update my arrival information for my tour?

Once you have booked your flights please log into the Manage My Booking area of our website and let us know your flight arrival details. If you are arriving early we can still arrange your airport transfer for you (excluding Japan). You can book and pay for any extra nights accommodation in the Manage My Booking area of our website. The cost and availability of extra nights will vary depending on which tour you have booked. 

Which airport do I need to fly into?

You can find information on which airport to fly into and out of in the 'Arrival Info’ and ‘After Your Trip’ sections of our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

Can I book pre-tour accommodation with you?

If you are arriving before the start date you can book extra nights at the tour accommodation. To do this, simply log into the Manage My Booking area of our website, add the extra nights and pay for them.

Can I book post-tour accommodation with you?

Your group leader will book post-tour accommodation for you when you are on tour. Just need to let them know when you arrive.

How do I organise my airport transfer?

All of our tours in SEA include an airport transfer for when you arrive. Once you have booked your flights simply log into the Manage My Booking Area of our website and let us know your flight arrival details. If you are arriving early and staying at the tour accommodation we will still arrange your airport transfer. Please let us know if you do not require an airport transfer.

A return transfer (after the tour) is not included, however your group leader can help arrange this for you, along with any other onward travel you need.

Are flights included in the price?

Flights to and from SEA are not included in the price of the tour and will need to be booked separately. However if your tour has an internal flight as part of the itinerary, then this is included!

Is travel insurance compulsory?

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. You’ll need to show proof of your policy to your group leader upon arrival (on your phone or printed). You can get a quote and purchase your travel insurance here .

Do I need a visa and can you arrange it for me?

Visa requirements vary depending on the country you are travelling to and your nationality. It’s your responsibility to check the visa and entry requirements for the country/s you will be travelling to. There is some information about visas in our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

IMPORTANT: We cannot apply for your visa for you and strongly recommend that you check on the relevant embassy or consulate website for the country/s you’ll be travelling to well in advance of your departure, as requirements can change and some countries require you to apply for a visa before you travel.

How much spending money will I need?

All your activities, transport, accommodation and some meals are included in the tour, so you will mainly just need money for extra meals, drinks, shopping and onward travel.

The amount of money you’ll need depends on the tour you are doing. There’s information about how much money you’ll need for each tour in our INTRO Travel App, which you can download here for iPhone or Google

What’s the best way to access my money?

We recommend getting a Wise travel card, which will allow you to pay for things in local currency and avoid getting charged high foreign exchange fees by your bank.

What should I pack for my tour?

Whether you have a backpack or a suitcase the main thing to keep in mind is not to bring too much stuff! We strongly recommend that you bring less than 20 kgs of stuff with you. If you haven’t got a backpack yet, try and get one that zips open along the side. There will be places on the tour where you can do laundry, so you don’t need to bring 16 pairs of shorts with you.

How many people will be in my group?

Our groups usually have around 12-16 people on them, usually aged between 18 to early 40's. We get people from all over the world on our tours, so you’ll get to bond with a wide range of travellers who all share that same passion for adventure! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you’ll fit in perfectly!

How can I get in touch with my group?

You can reach out to your fellow travellers in our designated Facebook groups. We have a Facebook group for all our destinations, if you go to our INTRO Travel Community Facebook page you will be able to find the relevant group for your destination.

How can I get in touch with my group leader?

You will receive a ‘welcome email’ from your group leader approx. 2 weeks before your tour begins.

What if I'm travelling solo?

If you're struggling to convince your friends to join you on an adventure, you're not alone!

Travelling solo on a group tour can be one of the most exciting ways to experience a new destination, and you won't have to wait around for your mates to be ready. You leave yourself open to meeting amazing people, making new friends, and can keep yourself and your onward travel plans flexible.

Thailand Itinerary in 7 Days

We will be greeted at the airport and transferred to our hotel. Relax for the rest of the day and enjoy welcome dinner on the  cruise. Overnight in Bangkok.

Today we explore Bangkok’s best cultural landmarks. See first the glittering temples of the Grand Palace and the large reclining Buddha at Wat Po , one of the oldest temples in Bangkok. Cruise the mighty Chao Phraya by a long tail boat and pop into the famous Temple of Dawn . Marvel at how ancient sites lie alongside glittering shopping malls and skyscrapers – that’s Bangkok. Stay overnight at a hotel in Bangkok.

Today we do a full-day Kanchanaburi Tour with lunch. Visit the famous war Cemetary “Don Rak “ and the Jeath War which enclave in the riverside precincts of Wat Chai Chumphon having been constructed largely in the form of an allied prisoner of war camp. The name Jeath is derived from Japan, England, America, Australia, Thailand, and Holland. Explore The Bridge over the River Kwai International famous, the black iron bridge was brought from Java by the Japanese Army and reassembled under Japanese supervision by Allied prisoners of war labor as part of the “Death Railway” linking Thailand with Myanmar.

Add the visit to the Hellfire Pass Museum including a train ride and boat ride, co-sponsored by the Australian and Thai governments which are located on the site of the cutting and have superb interactive displays telling the story of the construction. Visitors can walk down the valley and see the actual cutting of Hellfire Pass. Although the tracks have long since disappeared, the route of the cutting can be clearly seen. Lunch at a local restaurant and then free at leisure. Stay overnight in Bangkok.

Fly to Chiang Mai to see this city from a unique perspective as you travel the old walled city area by samlor – a cyclo. Pop into the Art and Cultural Centre for an introduction to the history and culture of Northern Thailand. Continue to journey Wat Chedi Luang with its big stupa and Wat Phra Singh which houses a sacred Buddha. After a local lunch, drive to Chiang Mai’s most famous place, Doi Suthep Temple . Climb the stairs to the top of the temple and be rewarded with magnificent views over the valley.

Evening Khantoke dinner with traditional dance. Back to the hotel. Free at your own leisure.

Start from the hotel in Chiang Mai driving along a wild route via Doi Saket through scenic hills, valleys, and villages. A short break is made at Mae Khachan Hot Spring . Proceed to Chiang Rai province and visit Akha and Yao hill tribe villages in the Mae Chan area. View around taking pictures of tribal villages and people who still dress up in their traditional costumes as well as purchasing some cheap crafts from them.

Continue to the ancient town of Chiang Saen , the capital of the kingdom until the 13th century before King Meng Rai, the founder of the Lanna Kingdom moved the capital to Chiang Rai. At that time the Myanmese also arrived and started to occupy the area, Chiang Saen was then totally destroyed and became an abandoned city for many decades.

Visit Wat Chedi Luang , an almost 800 years old temple, also one of the most important temples in Chiang Saen. Further drive along the Mekong River Bank to The World Renowned, Golden Triangle, and the mystery land in the past related to the Drug Trade and War. Buffet lunch at the restaurant. Drive up a small hill to a scenic point at Wat Pu Kao for a picturesque view over the Mekong River and the meeting point of 3 different countries: Thailand – Laos – Myanmar.

Then, take a short walk from the temple down to the Opium Museum where questions and curiosity about the Opium are replied to. Go on traveling to Mae Sai , a bustling market at the border town with Myanmar and the northernmost point of Thailand. Free at your own leisure. Overnight at Chiang Mai at the hotel.

Spend the day with elephants through the forest and swimming in the Mae Ping River . See how these giants live and get a glimpse at the unique and very real relationships between elephants and their mahouts, often each other’s best friends for life, and watch elephants at work, the baby training school, and bath time! On the return journey to Chiang Mai, you will stop at an orchid farm to see exotic species in full bloom. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon free for shopping. Overnight at Chiang Mai.

Breakfast and check out at the hotel, transfer to Chiang Mai airport for flight departure to Bangkok. Arrival at Bangkok airport connects flight to Hanoi in Vietnam. Vietnam Itinerary in 8 Days

We start our one-day city tour from the lobby of the hotel at 8:00 am with our tour guide & driver pick up. We will drive to Ho Chi Minh Complex , where we will spend a couple of hours visiting Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum , his former stilt-house residence , the Presidential Palace , the Ho Chi Minh Museum, and One Pillar Pagoda . Keep going to see the Temple of Literature o riginally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam’s first university dating back to 1070. The temple highlights the importance that Vietnamese society placed then and now on education. Lunch will be at a fine local restaurant in Hanoi.

In the afternoon, we visit one of the most interesting museums in Vietnam, the Museum of Ethnology , which is widely acknowledged as the best in the country and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic minority people. After that, get back to the city center & visit Hanoi Hilton (Hoa Lo Prison), a very good place to discover the old time of Vietnam.

Next, we are on a one-hour cyclo around the Old Quarter by local people ride, known as the 36 streets. This bustling area of narrow streets is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. Before we go back to the hotel, we will have a chance to enjoy the unique Water Puppet show to hear to know Vietnamese traditional instruments and singing from the live musicians who play throughout the show. The trip will be finished after the show at the hotel in the late afternoon, free then & stay overnight in Hanoi.

We are met at the lobby of the hotel by our tour guide & driver at 08:00 AM for a transfer to Halong Bay . After more than 3 hours of driving including a stop-over in Hai Duong city , we arrive in Halong Bay at around 11:30 AM. Get on the cruise ship and enjoy a fresh seafood lunch on board your traditional junk while cruising leisurely through the natural wonders of Halong Bay, passing the most beautiful spots in the Bay. Discover the amazing stalactites in Dau Go (Wooden Stakes) Grotto and Thien Cung (Heaven Palace) Grotto with their fantastic history.

In the afternoon, leave the ship and you have time for kayaking or swimming to explore the charms of this gorgeous World Heritage Site. Return to the cruise ship in the late afternoon to enjoy the astonishing sunset with cocktails. Then join in a cooking demonstration from the ship’s chef to learn more about Vietnamese traditional cuisine. After dinner, you can relax on the top deck, enjoy a body massage, or go squid fishing with the fishermen. Overnight on cruise.

Day 10: Halong Bay – Hanoi  –  Fly to Danang  –  Transfer to Hoi An (B)

Wake up early this morning and join in the Taichi lesson among the dreaming ambiance of Halong Bay at dawn. Then enjoy some warm tea which is very good for your health. After breakfast, sit on a boat to visit floating villages and pearl farms . Contact local people to know more about their working and daily life. Later, return to the cruise ship for lunch and check-out. Go back to the dock and return to Hanoi for a 1-hour domestic flight to Danang . Upon arrival in Danang, you will be transferred to Hoi An Ancient Town .

Upon arrival, you are met up by a local tour guide for a short walk down to the downtown for our walking tour with visiting the ancient town to visit the Japanese Covered Bridge , the Pottery Museum , Tan Ky old house , the Cantonese congregation , the silk street of Hoi An, the temples and pagodas of Chinese appearance. Overnight in Hoi An

After breakfast at the hotel, we travel to Hue along scenic highway 1A. On the way, we will stop to contemplate South to Danang city and the stunning views north, visit Cham Museum – the houses of the most complete collection if Cham Artifacts anywhere in the world together with Non Nuoc Beach  and the Marble Mountain  including the five elements of the Universe (water, wood, air, fire, and earth).

We will arrive in Hue in the afternoon and then visit the Citadel,  the Forbidden Purple City, and Dong Ba market. Overnight at the hotel in Hue.

We will be met and transferred to the Wharf where we will cruise along the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda (The Heavenly Lady pagoda), from here we will have a good view of the Perfume River and its surroundings. And then we take our vehicle to Tu Duc King’s tomb , which is one of the most beautiful works of Royal Architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. The tomb lies in a boundless pine forest. Then we go back to the city for our delicious lunch at a fine local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we continue heading to the airport for our next flight to Saigon . On arrival, our tour guide and driver will welcome us at the airport and transfer us to our hotel. Check in and relax. Overnight in Saigon

In the morning we will leave Ho Chi Minh City for the Cu Chi tunnels , otherwise known as the “Iron Triangle” or “Iron Land”. On our way, we will drive through the pleasant countryside; rubber plantations, and rice paddies. Before entering the tunnels, we will see a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, followed by an exploration of the maze of tunnels, some of which have been widened to allow tourist access. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank, as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500lb bombs, dropped by B52 bombers. After that, we transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City & enjoying lunchtime.

In the afternoon, we visit the Reunification Palace , the former Presidential Palace for the president of the South of Vietnam. Then we will visit the War Remnant Museum , where we can see countless artifacts, photographs, and pictures documenting the second Indochina war. We also stop at Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office to get good shots for our memory of the big, modern city of Vietnam. For the rest of the day, we will visit Ben Thanh market and then return back to the hotel at around 17:00. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

The morning starts from the hotel at 7 AM to leave Ho Chi Minh City and travel to Cai Be for about 2,5-hour driving. Vivid farming activities and the riverine life of the Mekong Delta can be seen en route. Take a boat trip from Cai Be along the mighty Mekong River and its tributaries to view the riverine of local people who work and play on the waterways of the Mekong Delta.

It would be a miss if we do not visit the floating market at Cai Be, and a family-run workshop making popcorn, pop-rice, and rice paper. A taste of these local products with green tea brings you a great feeling in tropical weather. Lunch will be set up in a local house located on an island, which is a fertile place for different fruits and trees.

After lunch, take a short nap on a hammock under the shady garden or you also can do cycling along the village paths to enjoy the beauty of the countryside. Lastly, the cruise will transfer us to Can Tho city . The rest of the day is your leisure to explore Can Tho City. Overnight in Can Tho

In the morning, travel to Binh Thuy ancient house built in the 19th century with a rich mix of French and southern Vietnam architecture. Visit the orchard inside the house including various kinds of fruits and flowers. Afterward, travel to Hang Temple , the most famous religious construction in town. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, take a motorboat to explore Tra Su cajuput forest in Chau Doc . Visit the wild bird sanctuary inside the forest then reach the watchtower to get a panoramic view of the forest and nearby mountains. Overnight in Chau Doc

Cambodia Itinerary in 4 Days

Today, travel by speedboat to Phnom Penh. After hotel check-in, lunch and repose, begin the Phnom Penh city tour by the visit to the Royal Palace , built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda , located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, is named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles.

Then continue your visit to the National Museum , one of Phnom Penh’s true architectural gems. It is instantly recognizable with its warm red terracotta and its gracefully cured roof topped by dozens of guardian nagas. It was designed in Khmer style in 1917 by famed French architect Georges Groslier & Ecole Des Arts Cambodians. Overnight in Phnom Penh

After breakfast, continue to visit the notorious Killing Fields “Choeung Ek” 15km southwest of Phnom Penh. This one is the site of brutal executions of more than 17,000 individuals, most of whom first suffered through interrogations, torture, and deprivation in Toul Sleng Prison during the Pol Pot regime (from 1975–1979). Continue your visit to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21 prison). This prison was a high school, and used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces and became the largest center for detention and torture during the rule of the Khmer Rouge. After your rest, visit Russian Market (Psah Tuol Thom Pong), a lively outdoor market where you will find antiquities, silver and gold jewelry, gems, silk, kramas, stone, and wood carvings, as well as T-Shirts, CDs, and other souvenirs.

Next, move to the airport for a domestic flight to Siem Reap . Arrive in Siem Reap, meet with your tour guide and driver then quickly move to Angkor Wat for sunset sightseeing. Travel to the hotel for check-in. Overnight in Siem Reap

In the morning, visit Ta Prohm , one of the area’s most beautiful temples. It has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool (representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake), and Ta Som , built in the late 12th century C.E. the most distant temple on the grand circuit, small but classic are the next stops during your travel.

Afterward, the Preah Khan temple , built by King Jayavarman VII, like Ta Prohm is a place of towered enclosures and shoulder-hugging corridors. However, the temple of Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. In the evening, we enjoy Buffet Dinner and enjoy Khmer Traditional Dance Show at a local restaurant. We are back to the hotel, at leisure & stay overnight.

In the morning, we with our guide & driver visit the floating village of Chong Khneas , located 10 kilometers south of Siem Reap. Visit the village and take an excursion in a traditional wooden boat on the Tonle Sap Lake , the “Great Lake” of Cambodia, one of the largest in Asia. After lunch, transfer to Siem Reap international airport for your departure flight. Tour ends

Travel Documents

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally,  you will need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey and current visas to enter Vietnam and Cambodia. You will not need a visa to enter Thailand for the short duration of this tour. Please Note: Your passport should contain at least three blank visa pages.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling internationally, please contact a consulate or embassy of Vietnam, of Cambodia and Thailand to determine if entry visas are required.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

Deposits & Final Payment

Deposits and fees for the optional Protection Plan or Cancel Fee Waiver [CFW] coverage are due at time of booking.

The deposit amount is $600 per person

Final Payments:

Final Payment is due to Tauck  90  days before departure for lands trips, and  120  days before departure for cruises and rail journeys. If your deposit was made by credit card, final payment will be automatic unless you opted out at time of booking. Bookings without full payment at this time may be subject to cancellation without notice. Failure to make payment will be a considered a cancellation by the guest and all applicable cancellation fees will apply.

Tauck's Guest Protection provides you with cancellation protection before your journey begins as well as insurance benefits while you are traveling. Guest Protection includes the following:

Cancellation Waiver – Provided by Tauck:

Under Tauck's Cancellation Fee Waiver you can cancel your tour for ANY REASON up to the day before departure and receive a money-back refund (except in Extreme Circumstances*) on the land tour cost, based on your original method of payment.

*Extreme Circumstances:  In the event of an act of God, war (whether declared or undeclared), terrorism, accident, natural disaster, outbreak of disease, or other event or circumstance beyond our control that contributes to or results in cancellation rates above our historical cancellation rates in the absence of such event or occurrence, Tauck reserves the right to issue a credit to you in lieu of a money-back refund, applicable to a future Tauck journey.

Travel Insurance Benefits – Underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company.

• Trip Cancellation –  If you must cancel your tour due to a covered reason, the plan provides coverage for the amount you paid for your travel arrangements. Since the non-insurance cancellation waiver takes care of the land package cancellation fees already, this benefit reimburses the airfare cancellation charges up to the value of your original airfare purchase.
• Trip Interruption –  If you have to interrupt your tour for covered reasons, the plan provides reimbursement to catch up to your tour or return home.
• Travel Delay –  Provides reimbursement for missed, prepaid travel arrangements if you are delayed by a common carrier, natural disaster, unannounced strike, or other reasons as cited in the plan.
• Medical Expense –  Reimburses covered medical expenses incurred in the event you become injured or sick during your trip. 
• Baggage / Personal Effects Protection –  Provides reimbursement in the event your luggage or personal effects are, lost, stolen, damaged or delayed during your trip.
• Worldwide Emergency Assistance Services –  Provided by Carefree Travel Assistance; 24-hour emergency telephone assistance hotline for medical and travel related problems.

The cost of Tauck's Guest Protection is: $759  per person

This protection provides insurance coverage that applies only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies. If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer, insurance agent or broker.

This optional Guest Protection must be requested at time of booking and fee must be included with initial payment. Fees are based on costs as of July 1, 2021, and are subject to change. Details will be provided with written confirmation of your tour reservation. Guest Protection does not protect travel agent commissions. Reimbursements will be made according to original method of payment. The amount of any refund shall be reduced by any recoveries obtained by you from any third parties.

The Guest Protection plan waives cancellation fees outlined below, provided we are notified of cancellation before your tour departs. Tour cancellation fees are waived regardless of reason, without written notice, and Tauck will refund land tour cost.

If You Have To Cancel

If you cancel within 10 days of initial deposit Within the first 10 days after you place your initial deposit, you may cancel your reservation for any reason with no cancellation fees. If you cancel more than 10 days after initial deposit Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed bookings. These fees vary from tour to tour. Therefore, the following fees apply.

90 days or more before departure = $600 per person

89-8 days before departure = $1250 per person

7-1 days before departure = $2000 per person

In the event of an unforeseen circumstance beyond our control, Tauck reserves the right to amend the cancellation terms outlined herein.

Note:  All Guests, regardless of residency, who book a Tauck journey have the option of purchasing the Cancellation Waiver provided by Tauck in the event they need to cancel their trip after making their reservations. Tauck's Guest Protection, which includes both the Cancellation Fee Waiver and the Travel Insurance Benefits and Assistance Services described above, is not available to residents of Puerto Rico.

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of Tauck.com.

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Special Luggage Restrictions for this Tour

Due to strictly enforced weight restrictions on the on-tour flights, luggage weight per person must not exceed 44 lbs (20 kg) and you are permitted only one piece of checked luggage. Luggage exceeding the allowable weight is subject to excess baggage charges, which may result in a considerable additional expense.

The maximum allowable weight for carry-on luggage is 15 lbs (6.8 kg), and the maximum allowable dimensions are 22" by 14" by 10" (55.9 cm by 35.6 cm by 25 cm).  These dimensions include all wheels, handles, pockets, etc. If these dimensions are exceeded, the carry-on piece will be checked.

Regulations within most airports require that customers handle their own luggage through customs.

Checked Luggage – General

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Carry-on Luggage – General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and only those items you need handy during the day such as purses, make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or in the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour. If you have a medical condition which might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify Tauck as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Some of the countries visited on this itinerary may require travelers to provide proof of vaccination against certain diseases in order to enter the country.  These requirements are subject to frequent change as outbreaks occur and subside in different areas, and it is therefore crucial that you obtain the very latest information on entry requirements as you prepare for your journey.

For the most current information, please consult the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by clicking  here  and the World Health Organization (WHO) by clicking  here . You may also wish to visit the web sites for the embassies of the countries you will be visiting.  Besides providing details on vaccination requirements, these sites can also provide information on vaccinations that may be recommended (but aren't required) and other potential health issues for which no vaccines are available.

Any decisions relating to your health, of course, should not be based solely on information provided by a web site.  It is critically important that you consult with your personal physician prior to your journey to obtain any required vaccinations and to review any optional recommendations offered by the CDC or other sources.

Please be sure to discuss your journey with your physician at least four to six weeks in advance of your departure, as certain vaccinations take time to become fully effective.  Also, be certain to ask your physician for proof of any vaccinations you receive, and to pack this proof along with your other travel documents in your carry-on luggage (not in your checked luggage).

Researching and complying with vaccination entry requirements for the countries visited on this itinerary is the responsibility of the traveler and not Tauck. Tauck is therefore not responsible for any expenses incurred or disruptions to travel caused by improper or incomplete vaccinations, or by the failure to provide proof of required vaccinations.

If you do not obtain the necessary vaccinations and proper documentation, you may be denied entry into one or more countries, or temporarily quarantined until the necessary vaccinations are administered, or until proper documentation is provided.

This Southeast Asia tour is very active and includes 6 on-tour flights. You should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances over uneven terrain that may, at times, be rocky and muddy, as some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. Southeast Asia is home to innumerable historic buildings and sites, some dating from antiquity. Therefore, roads, walkways and architecture will present difficulties for some guests with physical disabilities. For the most part, however, the amount of walking you do is at your discretion. Please Note: There are numerous steps on this itinerary. In addition to walking, various other modes of transportation used to highlight the different aspects of Southeast Asian culture and geography for this tour could include airplane, boat, sampan, cyclo and tuk-tuk (auto rickshaw).

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN AND MOBILITY ISSUES:  This Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate oxygen tanks, wheelchairs or motorized scooters.  Oxygen tanks are strictly prohibited in many foreign countries on regional flights aboard small aircraft, such as those intra-tour flights featured on this Tauck journey.  Likewise, the very limited cargo capacity on such flights prohibits the transport of wheelchairs or motorized scooters.

Guests should also bear in mind that the infrastructure in many foreign countries, particularly in developing countries, often presents severe and even insurmountable challenges for those with walking difficulties or other mobility issues.  The responsibility of the Tauck Director is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest.  Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

The weather in Southeast Asia is generally hot and humid year round with little fluctuation. Average high temperatures in Southeast Asia generally range from 65° to 90°F (18 to 32°C) in Hanoi to 85 to 95°F (29 to 35°C) in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, with high humidity throughout the year. Rainfall amounts are much heavier from May through October than they are from November though April.

What To Pack

The climate in Southeast Asia is hot and humid year round. We suggest that you pack lightweight, casual clothing. While it is quite rainy and hot for most of the year, our departure dates are always scheduled when weather will be optimal.

Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is flexible. Casual, cotton clothing is recommended. Sturdy yet comfortable walking shoes that have already been broken-in are essential. For dining in the evening, and for the welcome reception and the farewell dinner, you may wish to dress up a bit, but certainly be comfortable. Jackets for men are not required.

Valet laundry service is available throughout the entire tour. Hairdryers and irons and ironing boards are either located in your hotel room or are immediately available upon request.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you, a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Toiletries, sundries, and over-the-counter and prescription medications may either be difficult to find or not available in Southeast Asia.

First group of Indian billionaire's 4,500 employees arrives in Vietnam

Eight hundred out of 4,500 employees of a pharmaceutical firm owned by Indian billionaire Dilip Shangvi arrived in Hanoi on Tuesday afternoon ahead of their tour through three northern Vietnamese locales.

The 800 visitors checked in at the Novotel Thai Ha Hotel in Hanoi at 2:00 pm, enthusiastically starting their journey to explore the country.

"We ensured a smooth and professional check-in process to make our guests feel comfortable and satisfied from the very first moment,” Nguyen Viet Thu, director of sales and distribution at the hotel, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

The guests have a busy itinerary exploring Hanoi and seeing iconic sites like the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, and the Hoa Lo Prison.

Thu also said the hotel made extensive preparations to serve the group, including room arrangements and crafting a special menu focusing on authentic Indian dishes, whose ingredients were carefully selected and imported directly from India to design and reflect various regions, flavors, and culinary styles.

The hotel also included Vietnamese dishes in the breakfast buffet to introduce international guests to the Vietnamese palate.

Billionaire Dilip Shangvi, founder of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, a multinational pharmaceutical company based in India, booked the tour to show appreciation to the company agents worldwide by organizing this trip to Vietnam.

Shangvi will also join his international team on the trip, during which they will partake in several activities such as conferences, seminars, and a lavish gala dinner.

The delegation of 4,500 guests, mainly traveling from India but joined by international colleagues, will stay at 11 four- and five-star hotels in Hanoi.

The employees will be divided into smaller groups during their tour from August 27 through September 3.

The guests will visit tourist attractions in Hanoi, cruise Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, and admire the beauty of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh Province.

Bà Paetongtarn nhất trí với Thủ tướng Phạm Minh Chính về sự cần thiết phải phối hợp chặt chẽ, tháo gỡ khó khăn, phấn đấu sớm đưa kim ngạch thương mại hai chiều đạt 25 tỷ USD; tăng cường gắn kết giữa hai nền kinh tế thông qua triển khai hiệu quả Chiến lược "Ba kết nối".

Thủ tướng Thái Lan cho rằng Việt Nam và Thái Lan là hai nền kinh tế có mối liên kết chặt chẽ và bổ trợ lẫn nhau; mong muốn hai nước cùng hợp tác phát huy lợi thế để cùng nhau trở thành động lực tăng trưởng kinh tế chính trong khu vực.

Bà Paetongtarn được Hạ viện Thái Lan bầu làm tân Thủ tướng hôm 16/8, thay thế cựu thủ tướng Srettha Thavisin. Bà Paetongtarn, 37 tuổi, là thủ tướng trẻ nhất trong lịch sử nước này.

Supachai (phải) không thể dự LPBank Cup 2024

Supachai dính chấn thương ở trận Buriram thắng Nakhon Pathom 3-0. Anh ra sân từ đầu, đóng góp 1 bàn trong chiến thắng 3-0 nhưng tới phút 80, tiền đạo 25 tuổi phải tập tễnh rời sân. Kết quả thăm khám ban đầu cho hay Supachai dính chấn thương cơ. Anh cần vài tuần trị thương.
