Walkers' Britain

Walkers' Britain offers an unrivalled range of quality guided walking trips as well as flexible and affordable self-guided inn-to-inn walking tours right across England, Scotland, Wales and even the British Isles. We look after all the necessary logistics, like luggage transfers, detailed route notes, accommodation bookings, maps and pre-departure information, so you only need to focus on the road ahead.

I wish I could start this again tomorrow! The Coast-to-Coast is justly famous for the diversity and beauty of the landscapes it encompasses. The accommodations and food were all great, but it was the scenery, the camaraderie, and our wonderful guide that made the trip so special.

Excellent -   Anonymous

Great trip! Jon was a super trip leader. He was knowledgeable, friendly and always full of good cheer. During the Coast-to-Coast walk I was able to fully enjoy all aspects of the journey...the walking, the sights, the lodgings, the food, and of course, the congeniality of my fellow travelers. Logistics were perfect.

Trafalgar Travel Trafalgar Travel is a family run travel company that has emerged as one of the key family-owned businesses around the world, an inspiration for countless others. Responsible for offering more than 230 exceptional travel experiences in destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, Central America and North America, Trafalgar Travel prides itself on its ability to offer insider experiences that enable guests to enjoy genuine experiences and authentic cultural insights with knowledgeable locals. Do What You Like You’re usually stuck with economical but congested guided tours or excellent but expensive private itineraries when you choose most travel companies. However, with Trafalgar Travel, you have the freedom to do what YOU like, without having to drain the wallet for the experience. The company offers seven holiday styles to make sure that they have something which caters to YOUR specific needs. But despite the differences, each offers some essential aspects that make each tour feel more special. A focus on insider experience lets you meet locals and discover the culture and heritage of the place they’re visiting. Your journey is always made easier so you don’t have to worry about what’s happening in the background and can concentrate only on enjoying yourself. And finally, every itinerary has a degree of flexibility and ample free time to ensure that your tour feels special, and doesn’t end up becoming a routine that you simply HAVE to do. Live in Style… Having the right hotel isn’t just about choosing the right amenities and luxuries. It is also about staying the right place, close to attractions you want to visit. The perfect hotel should also feel special. Whether it’s centrally located next to your attractions or shopping districts, or close to some of the best natural beauty in the city you’re visiting, the location makes ALL the difference in your itinerary. And then there’s the privilege of staying in authentic hand-picked hotels and resorts. For example, living in an ancient palace in India or staying at a 18th century watermill in France could make you remember your journey forever. We are the first to create Insider Experiences; enabling our guests to appreciate their destination through genuine local experiences, such as dining with locals in their homes. And we continue to evolve guided travel in new directions.

The trip was fast paced, active, interesting, personally and socially challenging at times — which forms the ingredients of great personal growth! The sights were obviously amazing and there was a lot of free time to do what I wanted to do as a solo traveler in a group-setting. I won’t focus too much on that for the review, but rather more on the trip leader and driver - as these two people made the experience so much better for me, personally! Overall, I was very impressed with the experience I had during the Play & Pause Epic European Trip with Alan Beaumont as our trip leader and Alex as our driver. Friendliness I thought that Alan was very friendly and personable and made me feel at ease. This trip was overwhelmingly filled with tourists from Australia and New Zealand and, as the only South African, Alan played a key role in making me feel like part of the Topdeck experience in a way that was meaningful, kind and inclusive. He also went above and beyond trying to connect with me as a person, taking into account my views on certain places, asking me questions about my own experiences, and treating me in such a way that always made me feel welcome! He was very witty and humorous and made some of the longer drives go down a bit faster by being a good sport! He was also kind enough to attend a birthday of two of our trip mates in Berlin, where we all hanged out at Tiergarten eating doughnuts! He didn’t have to attend, as this was his free time, but he still did — which, I felt, played a big part in fostering camaraderie in our group! All in all, I’ve been very impressed by his friendliness, his inclusive and kind demeanor throughout the trip, without exception! Professionalism Alan was an astute professional and appears to take his job very seriously. He always kept to the schedule and we were never late once. He set an example of punctuality as a way to show respect for everyone’s time and the group followed suit. He always made sure that everyone was where they needed to be to ensure the trip moved along smoothly and did an excellent job at solving problems as they came up. Not once did I feel like I wasn’t sure of what the next step in our trip would be! He also seems to be very proud of Topdeck as a company and makes good recommendations for other countries/trips that we might be interested in, like the UK/Ireland trip, which I am now strongly considering booking as my next tour. This is all because of Alan. Another thing I’ve observed, is how well he manages people around him. He excels in conflict resolution and always tries to find the middle ground when minor issues arise in the group! I feel like this level of professionalism is only achieved through years of experience in this kind of job and a genuine care for tourists having this Topdeck experience. At some of the hotels, we ran into some minor issues, like twin beds not being separated in the rooms and, although the hotels were less helpful in solving these problems, Alan took it upon himself to try to solve this problem in a way that is prompt, efficient and satisfactory to all. Organization Alan exceeded my expectations in this domain. I thought that all of the recommendations for places to see, good restaurants to eat at and novel experiences to have in each location that he gave us, have been the main reason I’ve had such an epic experience during this trip. He did an excellent job in posting a “What’s On” well in advance so we know what to expect every day, including the times we are expected to check in, settle in, arrive and depart from various locations, public transport connections and how to access them, pins of locations for all meeting points, etc. He even walked us to/from optional tours we booked through the app, which was a really nice touch! He responded to all trip-related queries posed to him on our WhatsApp group, promptly, kindly and efficiently. Although some of the mornings were a bit grim because we had to make an early start on drive days, I thought that this level of organization benefited us in the end, especially on days we’ve had to cross borders (looking at you, Montenegro crossing into Croatia!) Alan was also great at liaising with the border crossing officials to ensure that we all had a smooth border crossing experience (especially for me, traveling with a non-EU passport on a Schengen and U.K. Visa). He also played an instrumental part in my own personal trip-itinerary. I came into this trip with a list of experiences I wanted to have, and he was kind enough to assist me in double-checking whether they made sense time-wise and also added his valuable opinion, which benefited me in the end. (A practical example of this, was when he helped double-check my plan to do a solo experience of Luzern while we all had our free day in Engelberg, Switzerland. He gave me valuable advice and tips on train booking and departure time from Mount Titlas in the morning, so I could get to and from Luzern in time to rejoin my tour group in time.) This also shows that he was instrumental in realizing one of the selling points of this trip: a chance to explore surrounding places during my free time, thus giving me the feeling of still solo traveling and exploring, while having support from my trip leader. This was really not lost on me and I appreciated this greatly! Overall, he was meticulous in planning all aspects of this trip experience, without any clashes in time or redundancies, which is actually quite impressive considering we’ve had such a long trip! Knowledge As someone interested in world history, I can’t praise Alan’s knowledge of all of the locations we’ve visited, enough! I particularly enjoyed the in depth introductory talks he had with the group while on the coach and I felt like I gained not only a lot of deeper knowledge about the sights I was to see, but I could also interact with all of the landmarks, sights and people more deeply during my limited time there, which ultimately enriched my experience on this trip. This is the domain in which I think Alan stands head and shoulders above other tour guides I’ve had in the past (I’ve been to 70+ countries and have had 8+ similar group experiences with other tour companies). He gives information that is truthful, verifiable and accurate. He is knowledgeable on a wide range of topics directly relevant to our trip and even recommended me a book for further reading about the history of Europe at a glance. As a lover of languages myself, I was very impressed by Alan’s command of each major language we encountered on this trip. I’d say I had a basic command of most languages we’ve been exposed to on this trip, and I could still learn something new from Alan! Included in his “What’s On” for the day that I’ve spoken about earlier in this review, he also wrote out basic phrases to survive in these new countries with correct pronunciations and even practiced them with us at the end of his introductory talk about the history, culture and current state of each new place we would go to. Another area Alan shone in, was during our walking tours! They were all very informative with just the right amount of information. He would also answer all of the questions we had (even the silly ones) in a way that was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and relevant. Passion Judging from the sheer amount of feedback I’ve given here, I am sure that the reader can pick up on the passion Alan has for this job and the extra mile he goes to make this a meaningful experience for all. It is evident that he loves what he does. He is outgoing and personable and absolutely lights up when he talks about the history, the political milieu (both past and present) of the countries we’ve visited. His passion for his job went beyond just finishing each day by delivering a service to customers. He really cared about giving the group a strong understanding of where we were and what our place is. A practical example of this was on our tour of Muthausen. He made us realize and take seriously the massive impact of what had happened there all those years ago and through his passionate oratory during his introductory talk, made us appreciate the level of respect and sensitivity we as tourists were to have, when entering that monument space, in. A passionate tour guide, in my opinion, isn’t just somebody who is a hype-guy, but also somebody who, through delivery of poignant introductions, lets the group feel/appreciate/perceive the importance of whatever places we go to, and I thought Alan succeeded in this regard. Overall, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks for Topdeck for this experience. It has truly been enriching and life changing. My trip leader, Alan, was a pivotal part in my experience and I doubt it would’ve been this way, had it been with another guide. I hereby would like to recommend him for even more of these longer and more in depth “Play & Pause” trips, as he sets the tone for a great experience. I feel like if I’ll have another Topdeck experience and it was with Alan as a trip leader, I wouldn’t even think twice about booking it! Areas of growth 1. Hotels were a bit of a hit/miss and were quite far from the center of where everything is happening, which negatively impacts the time one has spent traveling and the ubering back to the hotel also burns a euro-shaped hole in one’s pocket by the end of the trip. 2. Optional activities were fine, but make contingency plans for when not everyone wants to join in on those activities. 3. More walking tours and fewer driving tours. On certain parts of the driving tour, I found it difficult to see what the tour guide was actually showing us. The tour guide for said tour was also less than good (referring to the person who was in charge of hosting the driving tour in Albania…) 4. Included dinners. For the entrees: WAY. TOO. MUCH. SOUP. In the heat of the European summer. Ahhh! 5. WiFi on the bus. It would’ve been really useful if it worked. It was advertised that it would, but it didn’t. 6. Make the app more user friendly! The tour leaders had to jump through hoops manually helping some tourists sign up manually. Feel free to reach out to me for any additional information or other parts of my trip experience. I’d be happy to share more detailed feedback to ensure this experience can be even better for future tourists! Regards, Ash.

We had the most amazing time on this trip! Nicole and George were awesome! Nicole was so knowledgeable and organised. She made sure we always knew what to expect and organised lots of amazing extras for us. It was great having the free days in each city. Nicole gave us heaps of recommendations so we were really making the most of our time. Group dinners were great, they often included a starter, main and dessert. The only things I would say is most of the meals were pork and a few of the hotels were a bit far out. However we were given a few transport tickets in each city which was a nice touch!

Thanks to Kevin and Florentin our trip around Europe was perfect. The entire experience was amazing! Kevin went above and beyond for all of us. He was the perfect host. First of all, our tour guide, Dan was fabulous! And we were impressed by the beautiful accommodations that we had, and the scenery was amazing. We liked being able to have some time to ourselves in the evenings, and explore the towns that we were staying in.

I’ve been on a lot of cycle tours. This was my first with Exodus. What an experience! I was impressed by the high level of organization and professionalism. Cycling through medieval villages, beautiful farmlands and some days overlooking the Mediterranean gave variety to each day. As did the multitude of trails and pathways. Each restaurant and hotel was specially chosen to offer a unique and quality experience. The leader had really done his homework and pointed out points of interest along the way. I appreciated the guided walks around each town in the evening. And, most importantly, we had a lot of fun!

Luke is an excellent, smart, funny, history driven guide! His knowledge and zest for the history of the UK and Ireland extensive and entertaining. I was astonished daily by his unending energy and the concern and care for all those in our group. I would highly recommend him for any tour and look forward to his continued secsesse!
Luke is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, kind and professional tour guide.

Everything went went well. The itinerary was well organized; the toor coordinators, local and overall guides were awesome. We are delighted of the tour and we will book again.
I hope Europamundo does better job at communicating start time each morning at hotel desk, when we arrived in Barcelona, hotel staff had no info on next day departure or no sign on what to expect next day, almost missed bus in the morning as they started early.

Costsaver

  • Excellent - 938 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
I thought this fast pace tour was everything I expected and more. Our cruise manager, Steen, couldn’t have been better. We all loved him and his tremendous knowledge of history and insight into cultures (including his own). I would do it all again.
The host was amazing. The bus and hotels were sub standard.

Trafalgar

  • Excellent - 1,966 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
Nice travel, good organization
Wonderful trip! Everything was taken care of, all we had to do was enjoy! Greg and Ivor were amazing!

Highland Experience Tours

Highland Experience Tours

Cool sites and informative.
Chris was great! Very entertaining! The itinerary was great! Got to see a whole lot of Scotland in 5 days. Except for Inverness, the lodging left a lot to be desired. Oban didn’t have a working shower, and Skye left a bowl of cereal bars and called that breakfast. All were at least 1/2 mile away from food. There were a lot of unforeseen issues on this trip. The ferry caught fire so we had to drive to Skye, and the restaurants were closing by the time we got there. We also had to change buses two times due to company-wide equipment issues!!!

Globus

  • Excellent - 74,920 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
Diermand and drivers were great! The tour was fun but definitely very quick and lots of time spent traveling on bus.
The trip was great.

Haggis Adventures

Haggis Adventures

  • Excellent - 2,003 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
This was a well organized overview of the Scottish Highlands, capturing the highlights and offering a nice variety of activities. Our guide played a pivotal role in our enjoyment of the experience. Dusty deftly managed a few of our group that were a bit challenging in their demeanour. He is a pleasant man who kept us safe, informed and entertained. He gave bites of historical informstion
A great introduction to Scotland and its culture and traditions. We regularly stopped at lovely villages, saw some stunning sites and drove through the most beautiful landscapes. Everyday there were some possibilities to do some walks, and as we arrived at the hotel by 5pm in the evening, we had lots of time off to explore the villages and dive into local food and entertainment. We were a group of 29 of all ages, and a good mixture of couples, families and solo travellers. I booked the hostel accommodation which was fine because we were the same people from the group staying in one room. Our guide Paul was perfect, very kind and knowledgeable. He entertained us during the bus rides with interesting and funny stories, background information and music. He was mindful of our needs and wishes, and a great driver. I can highly recommend this tour!

My Mom and I absolutely loved this tour! Our tour guide Alex was so kind and thoughtful. He took very good care of us! Our bus driver Craig was also amazing. My Mom is 88 and Craig was so good to make sure she got down the bus stairs safely! Scotland and England are beautiful countries filled with rich history!
The tour with the sites that we visited was great. Alison, out tour director, was wonderful, very knowledgeable. Arthur, our bus driver was also great. Our one day tour guide and bus driver, Ann, was also great. I was not so impressed with the breakfast menu of cooked food. It was the same at every hotel. They need to change up the menu.

Would have liked to have done the Kayaking
We loved our whole tour experience. Our driver/guide was fantastic - kind, patient and well organized. The places we stayed in were very comfortable. Our guide regularly consulted us about itinerary choices and we enjoyed all the places we visited in Ireland. The weather cooperated most days and we were lucky to do biking and lots of hiking!

Intertrips

  • Excellent - 30 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
While the travel and hotels was well organized, I was disappointed that I was not told before hand that it was a bilingual tour. There was very little English commentary throughout. Would only suggest this tour if you want to go around places and are happy to do self reading.
Jose the tourist guide was excellent, the hotels except for the last one were very good, the landscape and scenery was amazing, very recommended

MacBackpackers

MacBackpackers

  • Excellent - 2,658 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
This was a truly special experience. I knew I wanted to travel through Isle of Sky, Loch Ness and the highlands in general but as a first time solo female traveler, I didn't want to deal with the logistics of getting places, but I also didn't want to take day tours with a bunch of old people. MacBackPackers seemed like the perfect fit - I would be able to hike unlike a typical tour, and meet people my age and experience Scotland through a less corporate lens. I.e., staying at hostels and going through the highlands at a slower, more intimate pace. I wish I did a longer tour!
It was an amazing trip. Met with backpackers like me and filled with loads of memories Special shout out to Tim who made it more special by taking care of everyone and his knowledge about the places.

Great small group tour! Our driver/guide, Michael, was a wealth of information and, had a secret superpower for avoiding crowds! I can heartily recommend!!!!
Loved Derment and he tried very hard to help people . Great personality . Good driver - organised our Group chat which bonded us well - a few accoms I think below the standard - please can we ask host to supply a top sheet not just quilt as it was too hot and little air in most rooms . Anne was so brilliant on our day with her and David a delight .David great driver too. Lovely meeting you Mick and appreciate your interest in our response -

With an excellent Guide Elly Carr we were very pleased with our tour. Elly had a massive amount of knowledge she shared very freely and our bus driver Steve Jones was also excellent and made us feel safe and secure.
It was a great journey and adventure with other people.

Culture Trip

Culture Trip

  • Excellent - 251 reviews for UK and Great Britain tours
The only let down was when the coach left the tour, and taxis and trains with the luggage was a struggle. Hotel selection, excursions, and guide were all first class. Had a very uncomfortable trip up to Glasgow, coach had no cooling, arrived ridiculously late, no arrangements regarding food, from time of meeting at 16.30 until breakfast the next morning.
Our tour guide, Tony Walker, was excellent. Since this was a first for this itinerary, there were a lot of travel issues and Tony was great at solving them. Culture Tours need to acknowledge how good a tour guide and leader he was for them. Here are my comments, in no special order. - More trip details as very vague in the itinerary, i.e. daily timetables for stops - Timely receipt of changes to original schedule of events - Notification of roommate and contact info when sharing room (prior to trip start) - Daily events need to be better scheduled. Too many crammed into some days causing early starts and late day endings. - Long distances to each night's stop causing long days on coach and trains - More centrally located hotels with dining options nearby. - Disliked hotel in Inverness. Staff almost rude and not helpful when we wanted a cab. Way too far from the city center. No amenities in the room - i.e. soap, shampoo, lotions, etc. - Name tags for tour members

Irish Experience Tours

Everything excellent
We had an absolutely amazing time. It was the right mix of scene sites, but with flexibility to enjoy. All of the accommodations were really good. A ton of opportunity for unique experiences. And we cannot say enough about Lee. Lee was fun, extremely knowledgeable, an excellent team builder and just plain fun. We will certainly recommend Wild Irish Experience to all of our friends who are considering traveling to Ireland. Once again, thank you Lee!

Nordic Visitor provided a Scottish adventure with a good variety of stops at historical and culturally significant locations. I enjoyed the scenery as we went along roads that the larger tour buses could not go. They also accurately worked in the timing to miss the large tours at the sites. I had several of the best meals that were included in the package. Save your time and effort and hire Nordic Visitor to plan your tour.

Frequently Asked Questions About UK Tour Packages

It’s good to know that when you choose Nordic Visitor, you can Book With Confidence , safe in the knowledge that your payments are protected. If you want to learn more about our processes and payment details, don't miss our booking terms and FAQs .

1. What countries are in the United Kingdom?

The United Kingdom (UK) is made up of 4 countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Great Britain includes England, Scotland and Wales.

2. Is the UK safe to visit?

Much like other countries in Northern Europe, you’ll find the UK is a safe place to travel. Similar to many European and Nordic countries, the UK ranks among the 40 safest nations in the Global Peace Index . You’ll find there’s also a modern healthcare system in place.

3. What is the best time of year to go to the UK?

While there’s no bad time to explore the UK, we recommend visiting sometime between April and October. In the UK, this spans spring, summer and autumn, and it’s when attractions have their longest opening hours.

Plus, temperatures are at their warmest from April to October – all the better for soaking up the sights. But, like the rest of Northern Europe, it’s worth remembering the weather can be changeable no matter the season.

Summer – June, July and August – is the most popular time of year to visit the UK. Not only because you’ll get the most daylight hours, but also because this is the warmest season.

In the countryside, you’ll see lush woodland and hillsides carpeted in purple heather. Meanwhile, the cities are bustling with visitors from around the world. You’ll also be able to take your pick from countless festivals celebrating the arts, food and more.

If you’d prefer to experience the UK at a quieter time of year, we recommend travelling in spring or autumn. After the chill of winter, April and May bring the joy of blooming flowers and longer days.

Or, visit during the autumn months of September and October, to see the trees turn fiery shades of orange and red. And if it gets chilly, just head for one of the snug pubs or cafés the UK is renowned for.

Read more about what to expect as the seasons change in this blog on the best time to visit the UK .

4. How many days do I need for my trip?

The amount of time you should spend in the UK depends on what you’d like to see and do during your visit.

If you’d like to experience more than one country within the UK, we recommend allowing at least 7-10 days for your trip. This way, you’ll have time to discover some of the top attractions in England, Scotland and Wales. And you’ll get to stay in more than one place.

Meanwhile, if you prefer exploring at a leisurely pace, you’ll want to give yourself longer, around 2-3 weeks. By spending more days at each stop, you’ll be able to delve deeper into the UK’s history, culture and landscapes.

7. What’s the best way to travel in Britain?

The best way for you to discover the UK depends on the kind of travel experience you’re looking for.

For instance, if you want the freedom to go at your own pace, then a self-drive tour of the UK is ideal. And although you’ll be taking the wheel yourself, you can relax knowing we are just a phone call away. If you need assistance during your trip, you can reach us anytime on our 24/7 helpline.

You’ll also have your own dedicated travel consultant to book your accommodation and arrange car hire with a tried-and-tested local partner. Plus, get a road map with recommended attractions and the suggested route for your trip drawn by hand.

This makes a self-drive tour the perfect way to see the UK’s must-see sights with opportunities to stop whenever you like along the way.

If you’d rather not drive, why not explore the UK in a guided group? Touring the UK with a knowledgeable guide leading the way, you and your fellow travellers will discover the UK together. And with a group size of up to just 15 guests, you’ll be able to travel in a comfortable minibus and get more time with your guide.

For the ultimate personalised travel experience, you could opt for a private tour of Scotland with your very own professional guide.

8. Who are Nordic Visitor’s UK travel experts?

11. Why use Nordic Visitor instead of booking everything myself?

At Nordic Visitor, we’ll save you time and effort by planning your getaway for you.

When you arrange a trip yourself, you have to carry out all the research and book each part of your tour separately. And if you need to change your itinerary, you’ll need to do the legwork yourself.

Plus, as we're a UK-based travel agency, England, Scotland and Wales are on our doorstep. In other words, when you book with us you can be sure you’re getting an authentic travel experience organised by local experts.

Our travel consultants have designed your itinerary to ensure you take the most convenient and scenic route between stops. They’ll also book you into high-quality accommodation, and share their insider tips with you. You can rely on them to feature the top sights and hidden gems that you wouldn’t otherwise know about.

So why not book with Nordic Visitor and let us take care of everything on your behalf? This way you can relax and look forward to your adventure. What’s more, during your trip you’ll have access to our 24/7 helpline. So you can contact us at any time if something unexpected crops up.

12. Do I need a visa to travel to the UK?

Whether or not you need a visa to visit the UK depends on the length of your stay and your nationality. For example, if you’re a citizen of the USA, Canada, Australia or an EU or EEA country, among others, you won’t require a visa. But it’s essential that you bring your valid passport for entry into the UK.

You can check if you need a visa on the UK government website.

13. What sort of accommodation will I stay in?

We understand that where you stay is important, after all, it’ll be your home away from home during your trip. This is why our travel experts use their local connections to ensure you stay at excellent places throughout your tour.

In the UK, this includes a mix of gorgeous historical properties and contemporary retreats. Expect a warm welcome and a location that’s right in the heart of things. Not to mention a tasty breakfast each morning.

We carefully select each hotel, guesthouse and B&B for its high standard of comfort and cleanliness. Plus, on self-drive tours, you’ll have access to parking. This will either be on-site or at a convenient location close to where you’ll be staying.

Exactly where you’ll be staying on your trip depends on the level of accommodation you pick and availability.

14. Can I choose the arrival date?

Of course! With Nordic Visitor’s UK self-drive tours , you can begin your trip anytime from April to October.

For guided small group trips in the UK , select the departure that works best for you from a list of start dates between August and September. If you want to travel at a specific time of year, book early in case your preferred departure is filled.

You can check each tour’s availability calendar online to see what dates are bookable.

15. Will Nordic Visitor book my flights to the UK?

Flights aren’t included in these UK tour packages. This gives you the flexibility to choose where you’d like to fly from, along with the flight times and prices that work best for you. If you have any questions about your journey to the UK, don’t hesitate to ask your local travel expert for advice.

Before booking your tour package, we highly recommend checking what flights are available. But please wait until after your trip is confirmed to make your travel arrangements.

Once you’ve received an email confirmation from your dedicated consultant, you can go ahead and purchase your preferred flights.

16. What should I pack for my trip?

No matter when you decide to visit, you can expect the weather in the UK to be changeable. So while the driest weather is between April and October, it’s worth being prepared for both rain and shine. Not to mention the fact that the temperature can vary a lot, depending on the season and where you are in the UK.

For instance, at the height of summer in London, you might experience temperatures over 30°C (86°F). Meanwhile, at the same time of year in the Scottish Highlands, the average temperature is around 15-17°C (59-63°F).

If you plan to spend time outdoors, pack these essential items and you’ll be covered from spring through to autumn:

  • Comfortable hiking shoes or boots
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Warm, insulated jacket
  • Fleece or woollen jumper
  • Cosy hat, scarf and gloves
  • Light base layer tops
  • Lightweight trousers or shorts
  • Sunglasses, sun hat and sun cream
  • Reusable water bottle
  • UK plug adapter

You might also want to bring a couple of smart outfits for dining out in the evening.

We had a better trip than we could have imagined!! The planning process with Zicasso's travel partner was so easy, and after just a few conversations, we were able to get everything booked. The hotels and activities planned for us were absolutely perfect. The app with our day-by-day itinerary and train tickets made everything so easy and stress free. I would recommend booking with our travel agency 10/10, and we will be doing so again! I really believe they connected us with local guides who were better than we would have known how to find on our own. The most kind, genuine, friendly, and knowledgeable people took us on our guided tours in the Loire Valley and Champagne region. I can't recommend their services enough!

The Zicasso tour company did a nice job planning out the trip and had a person available on WhatsApp until 7pm each day if there were any questions. They were responsive and handled things. There was a little bit of confusion with the guides about what was included and already paid for on a particular day tour, but it was cleared up when we contacted the agency. It happened a few times, so I am not sure if it was a mistake on the driver's or the agency’s part. When it comes to flights, I understand that erring on the side of caution is good, but having us get to the airport three hours early was overkill. At Inverness airport, they wouldn't even let us check in at Logan Air until two hours before the flight. When we flew out of Shannon at the end, we insisted they change the pick-up for the airport so we would get there two hours beforehand, which was plenty of time. I don't fault the company for this, but it may be good for them to consider not having their clients arrive too early at the airports unless the clients prefer that. All that being said, I would use this travel agency again and appreciated the itinerary they put together, the friendly guides for our daily excursions, and their responsiveness when we reached out to them.

The Zicasso travel agent listened very well to what we were looking for and matched our wants/personalities perfectly. I had very specific things I was looking for on this trip and she worked with me to figure out every request. Some activities included typical holiday travel (like tours of castles or museums), while others were not quite typical (like a one-day guided motorcycle tour with all riding gear). She found guides for us who took us where we wanted to go and matched our personalities. They were knowledgeable and laidback, and gave us time to relax (not rush) and enjoy the activities. Our trip was a full two weeks at all types of hotels (some I found on my own and some she suggested) and with multiple types of transportation and activities. Our agent and her team were very responsive and accommodating. Upon arrival, we received a folio with a full itinerary and tickets, separated by tour and travel. When I realized we had a potential issue with travel on a day at the end of the trip, they took care of it within a few hours. When I had a question on tipping our guides, I texted and received an answer in minutes. I also received an email after being asked for feedback to help them with future requests. I will use them again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them!!!

Zicasso’s tour operator was nothing short of exceptional to work with. From the early stages of planning, communication was seamless. The lovely travel planner helped plan the most magical trip. Every accommodation was out of this world, the meals were amazing, and the itinerary was outstanding. We traveled with two babies and they helped plan a wonderful, magical trip. We enjoyed Scotland so much and are looking forward to traveling there again with the same travel company! They even planned a sweet surprise for my four-year-old’s birthday that was so special for her. We were just so pleased with everything.

Our Zicasso travel guide did a wonderful job of creating an itinerary for first-time visitors to Scotland. She was very responsive to the different interests of our group and communication was always speedy. We started our tour in Edinburgh with a fantastic Blue Badge guide who stayed with us for an entire day, then on to the Isle of Skye and the beautiful scenery there, finishing up in Inverness and back to Edinburgh.

Zicasso's travel partner gave us a fantastic 10-day tour of Scotland for two people. Zicasso matched us up with another fine, in-country travel agency! I lived in Scotland during the ’90s and wanted to show my wife what a beautiful and historic place it is. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Scotland's culture and Scottish history. Wherever we went she had a story or comment on historical and current events. I learned more in the 10 days we were on tour with our travel agency than I learned in the two years I lived in Scotland. In addition, we were interested in orienting the tour around photography as I am an amateur photographer with pro-grade equipment. Our guide was very knowledgeable about photography and helped us achieve our goal of taking beautiful pictures everywhere we went. In summary, we highly recommend our tour operator.

My sister and I had a wonderful trip! We used Zicasso's travel agent to plan it. From the beginning, all our questions were answered and they offered suggestions along the way. Everything was planned out for us, including private and small group tours. Transportation, if needed, was all arranged. Directions and maps were provided, if needed, along with any tickets for trains and tours. All our hotels were conveniently located and we were within walking distance from restaurants, shops, and metro systems. We really appreciated that. I highly recommend this travel company and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. I can’t thank them enough for planning our trip, which has provided so many lasting and priceless memories!

Our anniversary trip to Scotland and Ireland, planned by Zicasso’s travel company, was unforgettable! Our travel agent was very easy to work with! She made several adjustments to our itinerary at our request and also to address some of the vendor's changes, such as one of our flights (originally from Inverness to Dublin) and one of our "in a local home, dinner and cooking lessons" (originally in Scotland). She was cognizant of my budget constraints and suggested I do some of the driving myself to reduce the cost of private drivers. Then, during our trip, little things like a wine and cheese board in our room upon our arrival in Edinburgh were very much appreciated! Also, when things didn't go as planned (flight delay from Aberdeen to Dublin), she was available (at 2am Pacific time) to help smooth out the bumps! Even the way our trip itinerary built up to a subtle crescendo with our stay in a castle made this a trip we will never forget!

Urgent plea issued by Majorca tourism agency as UK tourists flee Spanish islands

The Balearic Islands have issued an urgent plea after tens of thousands of UK tourists departed the holiday destination. Following a 10% decrease in UK tourism in July, the islands' tourism agency is ramping up its efforts to draw in British holidaymakers .

On Monday, the Majorca Daily Bulletin published the July tourism figures. It showed a year-on-year decline of 10% in UK tourism in the Balearics - however, Germany's tourist numbers painted a different picture. German tourist numbers saw an increase of 12% while France experienced a rise of 22% and Italy saw a drop of 11%.

The Spanish market declined by 13%, but overall foreign tourism increased by 4.3%. Regarding the UK market, monthly figures since April indicate a slight increase of 0.3% in April, a fall of 5.9% in May, and a rise of 2.4% in June before a 10% drop in July to 559,040 tourists. This comes as the Balearic government's AETIB tourism strategy agency liaises with its UK marketing communications agency, Lotus, about a media campaign aimed at offsetting potential negative impacts of the protests, reports Birmingham Live .

The tourism industry in the Balearics has welcomed the media campaign, but a source from the holiday rentals sector is sceptical about its impact, saying: "No matter how much they tell them that everything is fine, if potential visitors see an image on television with a slogan saying kill a tourist, they will think twice."

This follows protests where demonstrators marched through streets with signs telling tourists to 'go home' and blocked access to popular beaches. The protests were mainly focused on demanding tighter controls on tourist rentals to secure better housing for local residents.

The Spanish islands have issued a plea as tens of thousands of UK tourists depart. The Balearic Islands' tourism agency is ramping up its efforts to draw in British holidaymakers, following a 10% decrease in UK tourism in July, as revealed by recent statistics.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin published the July tourism figures on Monday, showing a year-on-year decline of 10% in UK tourism in the Balearics. However, the situation for German tourists was quite different.

There was a 12% increase in German tourist numbers. Among smaller markets than the UK and Germany, France saw a rise of 22%, while Italy experienced an 11% drop.

The Spanish market declined by 13%. Overall foreign tourism increased by 4.3%.

Regarding the UK market, monthly figures since April indicate a slight increase of 0.3% (in April), a fall of 5.9% in May, and a rise of 2.4% in June before the 10% drop in July to 559,040 tourists. This comes as the Balearic government's AETIB tourism strategy agency liaises with its UK marketing communications agency, Lotus, about a media campaign aimed at offsetting potential negative impacts of the protests, reports Birmingham Live .

The tourism industry in the Balearics may have embraced the recent media campaign with open arms, but doubts linger within the holiday rentals sector about its impact. An insider voiced concerns, expressing, "No matter how much they tell them that everything is fine, if potential visitors see an image on television with a slogan saying kill a tourist, they will think twice."

This scepticism follows events where demonstrators flooded the streets bearing signs urging tourists to 'go home' and obstructed their access to renowned beaches. These protests chiefly called for tighter regulations on tourist accommodations, aiming to enhance housing conditions for residents.
