Great Divide Brewing Company's  downtown  Brewery and Tap Room  is the go-to locale for many of Denver's beer aficionados, where you can sample any of the beers on tap, as well as the occasional Tap Room-only special release. Wynkoop Brewing Company

Colorado's first brewpub opened in 1988 and was founded by a group of young urban pioneers that included John Hickenlooper, who went on to serve as Mayor of Denver for seven years and as the Governor of Colorado for two terms (the first former brewer to be elected as a state governor since Sam Adams in 1794). Today, the  Wynkoop Brewing Company  is the center of LoDo — Denver's hip historic district where century-old warehouses have been turned into more than 90 bars, brewpubs, restaurants and cafes.

Wynkoop's architecture is typical of the neighborhood, with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls covered with artwork and big open windows. The second floor of the huge pub has 22 pool tables, multiple dart boards and other bar games. There are always more than a dozen craft beers on tap. The flagship beer (available in cans) is Rail Yard Amber Ale, a smooth amber with the malty flavor of an Oktoberfest lager. For a true Colorado experience, try Patty's Chile Beer, a German-style lager made with chiles and smoked Ancho peppers. 

Direction to next stop:  Walk west on Wynkoop two blocks to the 16th Street Mall, then turn left and walk seven blocks to Curtis.

Rock Bottom Brewery

Today,  Rock Bottom Brewery  is a major chain with more than 30 breweries that produce 700 different craft beers that have won over 125 medals. But their brewery in Denver is the "mother ship," the first brewery of the chain when it opened in 1990. Rock Bottom has one of the best locations on the 16th Street Mall, Denver's mile-long pedestrian promenade. There are 41 outdoor patios along the Mall, but the one at Rock Bottom is the largest and one of the most popular. On summer weekends, bands play and hundreds of people gather to sip craft beer on the patio under twinkling lights, as horse-drawn carriages clatter by. The interior of the massive bar is built around towering glass windows displaying the brewing equipment. It can be noisy, crowded and fun, as the bar brings in an attractive crowd of young downtown office workers. For a quieter experience, head to the back bar, which has pool tables and a staff that's both knowledgeable and passionate about craft beer. Rock Bottom features the standard IPAs, Red Ale, White Ale, Dark Ale and a Winter Tartan Ale, as well as the always popular Molly's Titanic Brown Ale. The brewmaster at each pub creates specials, so check what's on the current beer list, and especially look for the hand-pulled cask-conditioned ales in the back room.

Direction to next stop:  Catch the free MallRide bus at the corner of 16th and Curtis and take it north to the final stop at the Union Station Light Rail. Walk back to 16th Street and over the Millennium Bridge (easily identifiable by the tall white mast). Continue straight through the Riverfront development and across Commons Park to a second pedestrian bridge over the South Platte River. On the other side of the bridge, walk one block to Platte Street and turn right. Denver Beer Company is on the far side of the street.

Denver Beer Company

Denver Beer Company  is one of the city's favorite tap rooms — a place that really captures the laid-back feeling of The Mile High City. Located in a former auto garage, on warm days the "walls" of the pub literally roll up, making the whole building open air. There's an outdoor patio with picnic tables next to a space where different food trucks park every day. 

Denver Beer serves only delicious homemade pretzels and beer, but you're welcome to bring your own food or purchase food at the rotating food trucks. Dogs are welcome too, and it's a rare day when there aren't at least a few pups at the bar or on the patio. Owners Charlie and Patrick began as home brewers and are dedicated to making the finest and most inventive beers in the city. There are usually a dozen small-batch beers on tap that rotate regularly. Check the chalkboard to see what's available. If Graham Cracker Porter is on tap, make that your choice. It's been described as "a campfire in a glass with notes of vanilla, smoked cedar and mulling spices." This is a neighborhood bar where people stop in after a bike ride or a run. Even Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is a fan — he helped Patrick and Charlie make a pumpkin ale here to kick off Denver Beer Fest in 2012.

Direction to next stop:  Turn right from the brewery and in a half block, head west over a third pedestrian bridge, which crosses I-25. Continue up 16th Street as it changes into Tejon Street, then turn right onto Erie Street just past Hirshorn Park. Turn left on 17th Street and walk up one block to your next destination, on your right.  

Recess Beer Garden

After crossing the bridge, you've entered LoHi, one of Denver's hippest and fastest-growing neighborhoods. Before you reach your next destination, stop on 16th Street when you see a 30-foot-high milk can. This is the legendary  Little Man Ice Cream , where they produce hand-made, small-batch ice cream, created with some of the finest local ingredients. Relax with a triple scoop (we're partial to the Salted Oreo) in their outdoor ice cream garden. For those poor souls who have trouble with milk? They sell a Lactaid pill for 50 cents!

Now, on to the next sip. Recess Beer Garden  is a great introduction to this section of town. Although no beer is brewed here, Recess offers 24 beers on tap, including plenty of local and Colorado drafts, along with out-of-state brews, ciders, seltzers, wine, cocktails and kombucha. The staff is beer savvy and will work with you to find the perfect selection, whether it's light, hoppy, malty or complex. Post up in the beer garden with some friends as you play yard games and enjoy everything Denver and Colorado have to offer.

Directions to next stop:  Exiting Recess, turn right and then take another immediate right onto 32nd Avenue. Walk two and a half blocks east until you reach a sharp turn in the road — and your next destination.

Avanti F & B

If all this walking has worked up an appetite, end your night with dinner (and another beer) at  Avanti F & B , one of Denver's most popular spots for foodies. Inspired by European markets and food-truck roundups, Avanti bills itself as a modern-day food hall, offering up seven different restaurant concepts under one roof. Grab a Neapolitan-style pizza, some TexMex BBQ or a traditional arepa. There are also two large bars — one upstairs and one downstairs — with 20 draft beers on tap, many from local breweries.

Directions to next stop:  Return to the Light Rail station the same way you came. From here, you can catch the free shuttle to anywhere on the 16th Street Mall.

Brewery Tours Outside of Denver

Take a tour of the bucolic Breckenridge Brewery  facility in  Littleton . You'll walk through the whole brewing process and see from start to finish how Breck Brew gets the beer to your bottle. Everything from the 100-barrel brewhouse, to the fermentation hall, to the bottling line...and all with a complimentary beer in your hand! You'll taste and talk about the company's different beers and how they're made. Tours cost $3 and begin and end in the tasting room. We recommend grabbing a meal at the excellent Farm House Restaurant while you're there. 

Avery Brewing Company

One of Boulder's most beloved brewers,  Avery Brewing Company  is rapidly making headway on the national beer scene. Last year the company moved into a new $27 million "dream brewery" in north Boulder, upping both their brewing capacity and tap room seating.

Left Hand Brewing Co.

Located on the banks of Longmont's St. Vrain River, the patio is perfect for relaxation and beer appreciation. Since its founding in 1993,  Left Hand 's brews, including its iconic Milk Stout and Sawtooth Ale, have wowed beer connoisseurs, racking up dozens of medals at events like the Great American Beer Festival, the United States Beer Tasting Championships, the Brussels Beer Challenge, the World Beer Cup, the International Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Festival and more. You can also visit their newest location: Left Hand RiNo . The Denver outpost is a  full-service restaurant and bar, with 48 taps (including, of course, Left Hand's award-winning beers), along with wine, sake and cocktails.

This walking tour takes you through lower downtown Denver, known as LoDo, and the Ballpark neighborhood for stops at four breweries and bars. At each stop, you'll learn the history of the beverage and how it is made, as well as the differences between various kinds of craft beer. You'll enjoy samples – at least 10 beer tastings, all told – at each stop along the 1.5-mile jaunt. Tourgoers love learning about both Denver and the different kinds of beers. They also appreciate the quantity and quality of the tastings.

This tour lasts a little more than two hours and costs approximately $55 per person. The tour runs at 3:15 p.m. Friday through Sunday with an additional tour at noon on Saturday. You'll depart from either Rock Bottom or Wynkoop Brewing Company, depending on the day and time you meet. Denver Microbrew Tours also offers a beer tour of the River North Art District.

Denver Brew Tours – Walking Tour

Price: From $55 Duration: 2.5 hours

Denver Brew Tours will take you for a walk along Tennyson Street in North Denver to visit several microbreweries, including Berkeley Alley Brewing, Call to Arms Brewing Company, and Emporium Brewing Company. You'll spend about 2.5 hours drinking beer (at each stop, you'll enjoy a tasting flight) and learning from beer-savvy guides. Patrons enjoy this tour, saying the guides are amazing at helping travelers select beer based on their preferences.

Tickets cost approximately $55 per person. Tours depart at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Denver Brew Tours also runs private tours.

eTuk Ride Denver – Drink Denver Craft Brewery Crawl

Price: From $420 per vehicle Duration: 2.5 hours

Cruise through Denver in an eTuk – a three-wheeled electric vehicle – as you visit three different local breweries that have been curated to suit your taste by your guide. Though you won't tour any brewing facilities on this 2 1/2-hour trip, you will receive one pint at each of the stops. Travelers enjoy riding in the eTuks to get to the different breweries. Coors Brewery Tour

Price: From $20 Duration: 1.5 hours

The Coors Brewery has been serving up cold beers right outside Denver in Golden, Colorado, since 1873. The Coors Brewery Tour gives you a 60-minute glimpse into the process of creating Coors products, including the science behind the brewing process. You also have the chance to enjoy three samples after the tour, given in aluminum cups that you can take home as a souvenir. Reviewers find the tour fun and educational, though some note you'll have to plan your outing in advance as reservations are required and tickets sell out fast.

Tours are available Thursday through Sunday from 10:10 a.m. to about 3:40 p.m., though hours are subject to change. Reservations are required and slots open 25 days in advance of the tour date. Keep in mind that if you take a tour you will not be permitted to bring any kind of bag with you into the facility and strollers, pets and outside food and drinks are prohibited. Tour tickets cost $20 per person. You can also do a sampling-only activity for $10 per person.

Price: From $109 Duration: 4 hours

This four-hour tour from Aspire Tours takes you to two separate breweries with a scenic drive through the Rocky Mountains in between. During the tour, you'll drive through Bear Creek Canyon and the Lariat Loop. You'll have time to sample beer at each brewery and Aspire Tours will pay for your first beer or tasting at each stop. Tour-takers enjoy the experience for the beer selection and personable guides.

This tour, which includes transportation, departs Fridays (and select weekend days) at 1 p.m. from Union Station. Fees start at $109 per person. One of the most famous Denver breweries is the Coors Brewery. Located just 15 miles from downtown Denver in Golden, This iconic brewery is a must-visit.

Coors Brewery offers two main tours ; a full guided tour and a Sampling-Only in the lounge without a tour.

The guided tour starts around $20 per person with rates varying depending on the day or time you book the tour.

Colorado's oldest brewery, Tivoli Brewing Company , took a 46 year hiatus and recently re-opened stronger than ever in 2015 as a state-of-the-art-craft brewery. Tivoli features more than 50 Colorado draft beers and a fun American pub menu. Restaurants, food and drink, restaurants, food and drink | will dia’s on-site brewery ever make beer again the answer is up in the air., since opening in 2018, tivoli brewing’s equipment has only been in use for 16 months.

When Denver International Airport announced in 2015 that it was looking for a local company to build and operate a brewery inside the attached Westin hotel, it was big news. Not only would an onsite brewery highlight Colorado’s exploding craft beer scene, but it would also give DIA some cachet as one of the first and only airports to have a brewery physically located on its property.

“It’s a chance to be unique and do something that someone else hasn’t done,” DIA’s then-senior vice president for concessions Neil Maxfield told Westword at the time , adding that the winning brewery would be required to make a signature IPA that would be served only at the airport.

But that was one of the last times airport officials had anything frothy to say about the brewery, which has proven to be anything but a party. While the restaurant portion of the taproom remains open, just off the plaza on the south side of the Jeppesen Terminal, the beer-making equipment — including tanks and a small, 3.5-barrel brewing system — has been mothballed since the pandemic began in March 2020. And it may stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Last month, DIA’s brewery began a new chapter when the concessionaire that ran it, Midfield Concession Enterprises (MCE), sold its contract to another concessionaire, SSP America, according to SSP vice president of brand strategy, Lana Cramer​​​​. SSP’s parent company operates nearly 3,000 restaurants and stores at 600 travel locations around the world.

“As the new owners right now, we are meeting with the brand and trying to get our arms around the operation in order to conduct an analysis. Ultimately our efforts will be focused on determining what is best for all parties in order to ultimately offer a world-class experience,” Cramer said.

That “brand” is Tivoli Brewing, which opened its first location in the Tivoli Student Union building on Denver’s Auraria Higher Education Center campus in 2015. In a conversation with The Denver Post, brewery CEO Ari Opsahl was up-front about its future at DIA.

“Everybody sees the value in having a taphouse in some way, shape or form. But brewing out at the airport isn’t the most logistics-friendly environment on the planet,” he said. Would it be cool to make beer at the airport again? Absolutely. Does it make logistical or financial sense? Not at all.

Not only is it difficult to take delivery of raw materials and get rid of the spent barley that is used to make beer, but the facility doesn’t merit having a full-time brewer on hand because it is so small.

“We want to revamp the look the feel out there. It’s everybody’s intention to do exciting things. But we’re trying to work out what that would look like, and we don’t know yet,” Opsahl said.

DIA itself had little to say about the brewery, deferring to SSP America. “We remain open to exploring opportunities that enhance the overall experience at our airport, including an operational brewery,” spokeswoman Ashley Forest wrote in an email. “We are excited about what the future may hold for the new owners of” the Tivoli Brewing taproom space.

Its past, however, is a different story.

In 2016, DIA awarded a 10-year contract to MCE , a Michigan-based concessionaire that had food and beverage operations at seven major U.S. airports. MCE would build the 7,200-square-foot brewpub inside the new Westin hotel attached to the airport, along with two restaurants and a coffee shop elsewhere in the airport. Those two restaurants would be outlets of Smashburger, the hamburger chain founded in Denver by Tom Ryan, who also created Tom’s Urban and Tom’s Watch Bar (now at McGregor Square in downtown Denver).

The restaurant and bar would be branded as Tom’s Urban Kitchen and Brewery but the brewing equipment would be run by Tivoli, which got involved because the Tom’s/Smashburger parent firm (at the time) was running food operations for Tivoli’s other location.

The contract award came as a surprise to the other bidders — including longtime local breweries like Oskar Blues, Great Divide and Wynkoop Brewing — some of whom felt that Tivoli didn’t meet the requirements laid out by DIA. Wynkoop, in particular, raised questions about the bidding process, a perceived lack of transparency and the qualifications of the winning bidder.

Those questions eventually morphed into bid-rigging lawsuits filed by Wynkoop against Midfield, some of its former executives and DIA officials. After six years of legal machinations, the case was settled just last October . Details of the settlement weren’t publicly disclosed.

In the meantime, Tivoli founder Corey Marshall got to work in 2016 trying to figure out how to build a brewery on the fifth floor of an airport hotel, and it wasn’t easy. But Marshall had been through tough build-outs before. A longtime executive at Coors and a Denver history buff, Marshall had been buying or claiming the trademarks to several defunct but historic breweries and beers in Denver with the goal of starting his own craft brewery and reviving some of the past.

One of those was the original Tivoli brewery, which had roots in what is now the Auraria campus dating back to 1859, a year after Denver’s founding. Tivoli had been one of just a handful of breweries to survive prohibition and eventually became one of the largest beer makers west of the Mississippi, operating out of the castle-like building that is now Auraria’s student union. It eventually went out of business, however, in 1969, a result of both labor union action and the South Platte River flood of 1965, which devastated many parts of Denver.

Not only did Marshall buy the trademarks, though, he also researched the history and found people and memories from the original brewery to help him remake versions of some of the beers. In 2014, he signed a deal with Auraria to put a new Tivoli taproom back into the original Tivoli building. After a difficult renovation process in the historic structure, it opened in 2015.

But building a brewery at an airport was equally as tricky. Not only do brewing facilities require raw materials, they also need significant water and drainage. Since the brewery was located on the fifth floor of the hotel, it also had to overcome the presence of hotel guests and limited access.

By the time Tivoli brewed its first beer there, called Jet IPA, on Nov. 5, 2018, more than two years had gone by, and Marshall had been replaced as CEO by a new ownership group.

Then, in March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic began, forcing the closure of restaurants, bars and breweries nationwide. The DIA taproom — now called simply Tivoli Tap House — eventually reopened when social distancing requirements were lifted. But the brewery remained idle.

Opsahl, who became CEO in 2021 — the brewery’s fourth chief executive in two years — had his hands full with other matters. Tivoli had suffered mightily during the pandemic, laying off at least half its staff . Opsahl set about trying to save the company with a new strategy and a focus on a new brand, Outlaw light lager, which isn’t based on one of Denver’s historic breweries.

Late last year, Opsahl also discontinued brewery operations on the Auraria campus and shifted beer production to a facility that Tivoli leased in the town of La Junta. The company still operates its Auraria taproom, serving food and beer, but Opsahl said he hopes to sit down with campus officials this summer to talk about “finding a mutually amicable path forward.”

In other words, he wants to renegotiate the lease for the taproom portion of the on-campus operation, which expires on Dec. 31, 2024.

“The taphouse is a cornerstone for the campus,” Opsahl said, pointing out that the brewery and the building share a name. “We love it, but operating there is a challenge, as it is pretty dead all summer (when classes aren’t in session). We can’t even break even.

“We want to be there,” he added. “But have to find a way to make it work for both parties.”

Introduction of moscow subway system (metro).

Nowadays the Moscow Metro has 12 lines, light subway and monorail. All stations are unique and beautiful in their own way. Unfortunately, in order to visit them all, you need to spend many days. I invite guests to visit the ones that have the greatest cultural and historical interest from my point of view. Among them are the Revolution Square, Arbatskaya, Kievskaya (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line № 3); Kievskaya, Belarusskaya, Novoslobodskaya, Komsomolskaya (the Ring line number 5). Let us dwell a bit on each.

Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line

Subway station "revolution square".

Most recently - in the year 2008-2010 – the Eastern lobby was renovated. Because of the terrorist attacks in the Moscow subway that took place several hours before the planned opening of the East lobby after renovation, the solemn part of the event was canceled.

Subway station Arbatskaya

Subway Arbatskaya is located on the same subway line as the station "Revolution Square." It was founded in 1953. It received the name in honor of the Arbat Street. It has one ground lobby (Western). Initially, the lobby was in a separate building, but the new building of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense started, the lobby appeared to be in its atrium. The old exits were bricked up; a new entrance was built into the building of General Staff of the street Vozdvizhenka. There is a huge frame with a missing portrait in the ground lobby - until mid-1950 there was a portrait of Stalin. According to some reports, it survived, but closed with plaster.

The lobby was restored and partially reconstructed in 2007-2008.

The depth of the station is 41 meters.

Pylons are finished with red marble at the bottom, decorated with bouquets of flowers made from ceramics. The floor is laid out with gray granite. The walls lined with glazed ceramic tiles, white top and black bottom. The station hall is illuminated by massive bronze chandeliers in the form of rings.

Subway station Kievskaya

There are several subway stations "Kievskaya" in Moscow, located on different branches. This name is quite popular. It comes from the capital of Ukraine - one of Russia's nearest neighbors - the city of Kiev. The name is fully consistent with the idea of the subway station. The interior the station devoted to Soviet Ukraine and the reunification of Ukraine and Russia. The station is decorated with a large number of paintings .Twenty four murals depicting workers of Soviet Ukraine are placed on the arch above the pylons. The wall from the side of platform also contains frescos, mainly with images of fantastic plants. Pylons are decorated with light marble and additionally decorated with colorful ceramic cornice. The butt of the station has a large mosaic, depicting festivities to celebrate the 300 anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine and Russia.

Opened in 1953, this subway station for a long time was the final (1953-2003).

The station has one lobby, combined with the station ring line and located in the building of the Kievskaya railway station. The diameter of the central hall station is 9.5 m, the diameter of side one is 8.5 m. The depth of the station is 38 meters.

= Ring Line Subway =

It opened in 1954. The station received its name after the Kiev station, and locked the Ring line. During the construction of the station many projects were proposed, but the victory in the competition won the Kiev architects who made the construction of the station. It is the only station of the Ring Line which is not located in the Central Administrative District of Moscow.

The station has a pylon structure. Eighteen pylons are decorated with mosaic panels of glazes, decorated on the theme of Ukrainian history and friendship between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples, which started in the mid-17 century.

On the front wall of the central hall of the station a large panel with molding in the form of flags and a mosaic portrait of Lenin in the center are located. There are lines of the Soviet national anthem around the portrait, and under the portrait - the words of Lenin. One of the ways out of the station was designed by French architects modeled on the Paris Subway in 2006.

At one of the mosaics – “The Struggle for Soviet power in Ukraine "- modern passengers observe a mobile phone and PDA in the hand of one of the guerrillas, and on his knees - a laptop. In fact, he uses a field telephone, which was really a heavy thing (guerrillas holds it in two hands), and thing that people see a laptop is the lid of a box with a telephone. However, these phones have begun to produce only in the second half of the 20-ies of XX century. We must assume that the mosaic depicts a foreign field telephone transmitter.

Subway station Belorusskaya

The founded of the station was in 1952. It received the name after the Belarusian railway station nearby. The station has two ground-based lobbies. The Western one goes to Tverskaya  Zastava. It is decorated with beautiful carvings. The Eastern one leads to Butyrskiy shaft and Forest Street. The Eastern lobby is known for its majolica panels.

The station Belorusskaya is located at a depth of 42.5 m below ground. The diameter of the central hall is 9.5 meters.

Pylons are faced with light marble. The walls lined with white ceramic tiles, the floor is covered with ceramic tiles, gray, white and red colors. Lamps placed on pylons, in the form of vases made of glass and marble. The theme of decoration is economy and culture of Belarus. Decorative pattern on the floor repeats the theme of traditional Belarusian embroidery. Decorations of the ceiling consist of stucco decorations and 12 mosaic panels depicting the life of the Belarusian people.

Subway station Novoslobodskaya

Built in 1952, Subway station Novoslobodskaya got its name from the eponymous street:  the station is located at the very beginning of it.

Novoslobodskaya is pylon station of deep foundation (its depth is 40 m) with three arches.

Exit to the street is through the ground lobby with column portico, located on Novoslobodskaya Street lined with gray marble. Pylons of the underground station are faced with marble from the Urals. Thirty two spectacularly illuminated stained-glasses, placed inside the pylon and bordered by steel and gilt brass are splendid decoration of the station. A remarkable mosaic "World Peace" is located at the end of the central hall. The picture depicts a happy mother with a baby in her arms; it was the face of Stalin at the picture: the child gave a hand to him. But in times of Khrushchev the face of the former leader of USSR was removed from the panel. The walls are lined with bright marble; floor is covered with white and black granite slabs, placed in a checkerboard pattern.

Subway station Komsomolskaya

The station was built in 1952 and named in honor of the Komsomolskaya Square, which is situated nearby.

This subway station is the station of the deep bedding. Its depth is 37 meters. The station has column and three- arched design. Cast iron decoration is used in the construction, monolithic slab used as a tray for a collapsible finishing. The length of the boarding hall is 190 meters; width of it is 10 meters. There are 68 octagonal columns at station.

The main theme of the interior of the station is the fighting of the Russian people for their independence. The ceiling is decorated with eight station mosaic mural made from glazes and precious stones. Six of them represent the Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, Alexander Suvorov and Mikhail Kutuzov, the Soviet soldiers and officers at the walls of the Reichstag.

 Two other panels, depicting Stalin ("Victory Parade" and "Presentation of the Guards Banner"), were replaced after the dethronement of Stalin's personality cult in 1963. New panels depict Lenin's speech in front of the Red Guards and the Motherland on the background of the Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower.

The yellow ceiling is decorated with mosaic and moldings. The hall is illuminated by massive chandeliers hanging between the panels; platforms are illuminated with smaller chandeliers. The columns are decorated with marble capitals and trimmed with light marble, as well as the wall station. The floor is laid with pink granite. There is a bust of Lenin at the end of the hall. At the opposite end of the escalator is a large Florentine mosaic of the Order of Victory with red banners on the background. The ground lobby of the station is decorated with bas-reliefs.

In conclusion...

Each of the stations of the Moscow subway is attractive and interesting in its own way. Each has its own long and fascinating history and is beautifully decorated. The Moscow subway is a whole world, which can be talking about for hours. I suggest you short - no more than one hour and a half - and a fascinating journey through the world of the Moscow subway. The pleasure is guaranteed!

Lebedev Studio is a design company in Russia, founded in 1995 by Artemy Lebedev. They redrew the Moscow Metro map for a second time in three years, with even cleaner graphics and a raft of new details and won more than 50% of the online vote.

Moscow Metro 2019

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

RATES AND TICKETS

Paper ticket A fee is fixed and does not depend on how far you go. There are tickets for a number of trips: 1, 2 or 60 trips; or for a number of days: 1, 3 days or a month. Your trips are recorded on a paper ticket. Ifyou buy a ticket for several trips you can share it with your traveling partner passing it from one to the other at the turnstile.

On every station there is cashier and machines (you can switch it to English). Cards and cash are accepted. 1 trip - 55 RUB 2 trips - 110 RUB

Tickets for 60 trips and day passes are available only at the cashier's.

60 rides - 1900 RUB

1 day - 230 RUB 3 days - 438 RUB 30 days - 2170 RUB.

The cheapest way to travel is buying Troyka card . It is a plastic card you can top up for any amount at the machine or at the ticket office. With it every trip costs 38 RUB in the metro and 21 RUB in a bus. You can get the card in any ticket office. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 50 RUB. You can get it back returning the card to the cashier.

SamsungPay, ApplePay and PayPass cards.

One turnstile at every station accept PayPass and payments with phones. It has a sticker with the logos and located next to the security's cabin.

GETTING ORIENTED

At the platfrom you will see one of these signs.

It indicates the line you are at now (line 6), shows the direction train run and the final stations. Numbers below there are of those lines you can change from this line.

In trains, stations are announced in Russian and English. In newer trains there are also visual indication of there you are on the line.

To change lines look for these signs. This one shows the way to line 2.

There are also signs on the platfrom. They will help you to havigate yourself. (To the lines 3 and 5 in this case).
