bad marriage tour

Guitar legend Tommy Skeoch (ex-Tesla) returns to the Buffalo, NY area as a member of the hard rock band Bad Marriage

West Seneca, NY – Massachusetts based hard-rock band Bad Marriage rocked the house at Rock n Roll Heaven in West Seneca (near Buffalo, NY) last Thursday, opening for Enuff Z’Nuff.

Bad Marriage, who have recently recruited guitar superstar Tommy Skeoch (ex-Tesla) as their newest member, is currently on the “In Too Deep” USA tour with Glenn Hughes and Enuff Z’Nuff. This tour is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple’s “Burn” release, which featured Glenn Hughes as bassist/co-vocalist.

This particular evening was an off date from the Glenn Hughes tour, with just Bad Marriage supporting Enuff Z’Nuff. Bad Marriage, who formed in 2015, quickly won the crowd over on with an intense, hard-hitting powerful performance, featuring songs from their two full length releases, EP and new single, “Dangerous.” The band ended their set with a cover of the song, “Little Suzi,” originally by the British new wave group Ph.D. and covered by Tesla on their 1986 debut record, ‘Mechanical Resonance.’

It was a thrill to see Skeoch back on-stage and tearing up the fretboard with a talented, hungry and no-frills rock band. Bad Marriage is the real deal, and a must see if you love classic hard-rock music.

In addition to Tommy Skeoch, Bad Marriage consists of Mike Fitz – lead guitar, Jonny Paquin -vocals, Ian Haggerty -rhythm guitar, Todd Boisvert -bass, and Michael Delaney -drums. The band will be very active this year, with upcoming dates after the “In Too Deep” tour with ACE Frehley/Angel and Sons of Anarchy (featuring Jeff Scott Soto and Ron Thal). #badmarriage #rockinterviewseries

Bad Marriage Leaves Lasting Impression On First Trip To Town

bad marriage tour

Bad Marriage out of Boston, MA came to play their first ever WNY show this past Thursday at Rock N Roll Heaven in West Seneca. The band is comprised of six members currently. The three guitar attack of guitarists featured Mike Fitz, Ian Haggerty and a name many were familiar with, Tommy Skeoch who was known for his time in Tesla and Bar 7. Vocalist Jonny P, bassist Todd Boisvert and drummer Mike Delaney rounded out the sextet.

The band was formed in 2015 and have opened many shows for bands that reads like a who’s who of bands from the 1980s. Not only do they have a Tesla connection with Skeoch, vocalist Jeff Keith guested on the bands latest 5-song EP Artificial Mind which was produced by Tesla bassist Brian Wheat. They are currently on the road with Glenn Hughes and Enuff Z’nuff and came to town on an off night from the tour.

Hitting the stage precisely at 8 pm the band played a fast paced 45-minute energetic set that featured a good mix of songs throughout all their releases. Highlights included opener “Who’s Ready To Rock”, “Match Made” and the band’s latest single released late in 2023, “Dangerous”. The band closed out the set with a cover of “Little Suzi”, the song made famous by Tesla which was a cover by PH.D.

This band has a throwback kind of energy and sound. Jonny P kind of reminds one of a young Dave King from the time he was fronting Fastway. The three guitar attack is kind of unique for a band who is not Iron Maiden bolstering their sound to another level with the addition of Skeoch. Will be interesting to see what these guys will do next. Keep an eye out for them as they are a band to pay attention to.

Who & what is taylor swift's "champagne problems" about lyrics & meaning explained.

What Is Taylor Swift's Next Album & When Does It Release?

Who taylor swift's "betty" song is about & how it connects to ryan reynolds, i'm really curious how denzel washington will replace his $573 million franchise.

  • "Champagne Problems" is a song from Taylor Swift's 2020 album, evermore.
  • The song is about a college romance that ends with a rejected marriage proposal, exploring the heartbreak of both the man and woman involved.
  • The song is a fictional story created by Swift and her co-writer, Joe Alwyn, and has become a fan favorite, often performed during her live concerts.

One of the several songs that Taylor Swift sings during Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) is "champagne problems" from evermore , which contains complex lyrics that seemingly have a deeper meaning. The concert film, directed by Sam Wrench and produced by Swift, premiered in theaters in October 2023 and was a massive triumph. Over the course of its theatrical run, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour became the highest-grossing concert movie of all time after earning over $260 million at the box office, surpassing Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (which grossed $99 million) with ease.

Swift's recording-breaking concert tour, the Eras Tour, features the pop star taking her fans on a journey through nine of her "eras," aka nine of her ten studio albums, and one surprise song acoustic set. Although two songs are still missing from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) on Disney+, the streaming release of the hit film includes the majority of Swift's 44-song setlist, satisfying many fans after some tracks were left off the theatrical version. Thankfully, one of the most important songs from evermore — "champagne problems" — is still one of the movie's highlights.

What Is Champagne Problems About?

A longtime college romance & failed marriage proposal.

Taylor Swift released "champagne problems" as the second track of 2020's evermore — the third album Swift officially owned . During a typical Eras Tour show, the pop star performs "champagne problems" on a moss-covered piano following "'tis the damn season," "willow," and "marjorie" while she is in the evermore act of the concert (although Disney+ omitted "'tis the damn season" from Taylor Swift: The Era's Tour (Taylor's Version) ).

Swift picked the track for her setlist because "champagne problems" is one of the most popular songs from her ninth studio album, partly because of its heart-wrenching lyrics and powerful bridge that fans get to scream out at the Eras Tour. Some of the first chorus' lyrics include:

Your mom's ring in your pocket My picture in your wallet Your heart was glass, I dropped it Champagne problems

The tear-inducing number chronicles a doomed college romance that ends with a rejected marriage proposal. The couple that "champagne problems" is about has, assumingly, been together for a long time, but when the man proposes to the woman, she turns him down, leaving everyone speechless. The woman takes responsibility for the heartbreak and her explanation for her refusal can be explained in the bridge:

Sometimes you just don't know the answer 'Til someone's on their knees and asks you

The couple breaks up after she rejects his proposal, and the woman promises the man that he will find the right person for him (and that it's not her) in "champagne problems." However, while the evermore track describes the man's heartbreak, it also depicts the woman's pain and grief as she explains how her own personal troubles got in the way of her saying yes to her lover. She describes them as "champagne problems," a saying for when someone encounters an issue that is minuscule in comparison to more significant worries for less privileged people in the world.

Champagne Problems Is Fictional

It is not about taylor swift & joe alwyn.

Even though Taylor Swift has a way of making all the lyrics in her songs seem personal and real, the story in "champagne problems" on evermore is fictional. While the lyrics in songs like "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version)" are inspired by Swift's breakups in real life, the evermore track is not based in reality. Swift wrote the song with Joe Alwyn (who is credited under the pseudonym William Bowery on the track listing) while they were still dating, but the lyrics are not about their relationship.

Swift's folklore and evermore , which the singer-songwriter describes as "sister records," allowed her to write about fictional tales, while also fitting in some lyrics pertaining to her personal life, of course. Inside evermore 's album booklet, Swift's prologue reveals that she "loved the escapism [she] found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales." The pop star also describes "champagne problems" as:

"The one where longtime college sweethearts had very different plans for the same night, one to end it and one who brought a ring."

So, it's safe to say that Swift's "champagne problems" features a story about a doomed romance that she and Alwyn concocted in their minds. Perhaps the evermore song was a sign of things to come for Swift and Alwyn's relationship, as they broke up in early 2023, a couple of years following the album's release. For all intents and purposes, though, "champagne problems" is a tragic but fictional love story.

Taylor Swift's 11th studio album already has a scheduled release date, with the tracklist & editions also being confirmed before ending The Eras Tour.

Champagne Problems Is (Probably) Not About Gilmore Girls' Rory & Logan

The gilmore girls fan theory.

One of the more popular fan theories surrounding the meaning behind "champagne problems" on evermore ( Taylor Swift's ninth released album ) is that it revolves around Rory Gilmore and Logan Huntzberger's love story in the popular comedy-drama television series Gilmore Girls . The relationship between the two fictional characters played out in a similar fashion to the people depicted in Swift's sentimental ballad.

The beauty of Swift's music is that she can somehow make those who listen to her songs relate to the lyrics, despite how specific they might be or whether they have gone through what the song is describing.

Rory and Logan met at Yale and fell in love throughout Gilmore Girls seasons 5 and 6. However, during the penultimate episode of Gilmore Girls , he proposes to her, and she rejects him. Several years later, Rory and Logan resumed their romance (while cheating on their significant others) in the Netflix revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life . But fans apply the lyrics of "champagne problems" to the college years of the relationship. Nevertheless, Swift has never confirmed that the evermore track is about Rory and Logan nor is there any strong evidence to prove so.

Taylor Swift performs a song called "Betty" during Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and the inspiration behind the lyrics relates to Ryan Reynolds.

What Taylor Swift Has Said About Champagne Problems

Playing the song is cathartic.

Given its popularity among her fanbase, Taylor Swift chose "champagne problems" as one of the songs she performs during Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) on Disney+. Years before the record-breaking worldwide concert tour, though, Swift spoke about the process of writing "champagne problems" for evermore and the meaning behind the lyrics with Zane Lowe for Apple Music . A few days following evermore 's debut, the pop star explained:

"Joe [Alwyn] and I really love sad songs. We've always bonded over music ... 'champagne problems' was one of my favorite bridges to write ... I'm so excited to one day be in front of a crowd when they all sing, 'She would have made such a lovely bride, what a shame she's f**ked in the head.' I know it's so sad, but it's those songs like 'All Too Well,' performing the song 'All Too Well' is one of the most joyful experiences I ever go through when I perform live. So, when there's a song like 'champagne problems,' where you know it's so sad, you know that, but I love a sad song."

Swift believes that performing "champagne problems" is cathartic, as it's a heartbreaking song, but singing along with a stadium full of thousands of fans during the Eras Tour is somewhat comforting. Of course, it probably helps that the lyrics seemingly do not pertain to Swift's personal life. However, the beauty of Swift's music is that she can somehow make those who listen to her songs relate to the lyrics, despite how specific they might be or whether they have gone through what the song is describing. As a result, "champagne problems" is one of Taylor Swift's best (yet devastating) songs .

Champagne Problems Isn't The Only Fictional Taylor Swift Song

Speak now, stay stay stay, & folklore.

Despite her reputation for calling out former lovers in her lyrics, several Taylor Swift songs are fictional in nature. This is especially true regarding her writing on songs in both folklore and evermore . This was actually the main theme of folklore . However, many songs from her entire catalog are fictional and not about her personal life. One example is the 2010 title track from Speak Now . While that album had songs targeted at John Mayer and Taylor Lautner, the title track was just about a dream she had .

"Stay Stay Stay" from Red is a song about daydreaming of finding real love. This song isn't about someone Swift was ever with, but about wistful thinking and is completely fictional from that point of view. However, folklore's entire theme is that it is a batch of songs that remain fictional and separated from reality. The entire album has songs that see Swift going full-on with her storytelling and creating characters, even some that drift between songs. Taylor Swift even released a documentary film about the making of the folklore album.

Fronted by Worcester-area singer, rock band Bad Marriage embarks on mini-tour with Tesla

Aerosmith has Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

Guns N’ Roses has Axl Rose and Slash.

Bad Marriage has Jonny Paquin and Mike “Fitzy” Fitz.

Who’s Bad Marriage, you ask?

Well, they’re quite possibly the band that will bring rock ‘n’ roll back into the forefront. They’re that good. And these veteran rockers have their roots in the area.

A cross between classic Aerosmith and early Guns N’ Roses, Bad Marriage is the perfect marriage of hard rock and incessant hooks.

Fronted by flamboyant singer Paquin of Worcester (formerly of Uxbridge) and riff-heavy guitarist Fitz of Milford, Bad Marriage — which also features slinging axe-man Ian Haggerty of Attleboro, blistering bassist Todd Boisvert of Medway and powder-keg drummer Michael Delaney of Milford — keeps building a steady stable of loyal fans with their high-energy stage show and unbeatable arsenal of crowd-pleasing originals.

And this week might be the biggest one so far for Bad Marriage in terms of band exposure and achieving new converts.

As part of its “2019 Spring Nor’easter” tour, Bad Marriage is opening for ’80s rocker Tesla April 16 at the House of Blues in Boston, April 18 at the Aura in Portland, Maine, and April 19 at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in Hampton, New Hampshire.

Fitz and Paquin called the trio of gigs “super important.”

“We’ve been very fortunate over the past couple of years to be able to play one-offs with great national bands (including Airbourne, Buckcherry, Dokken, Extreme, L.A. Guns, Eddie Money, Steel Panther and Scott Weiland, nine days before he died) but we have yet to land something like these Tesla gigs, which is a mini-tour for us,” Fitz said. “It’s awesome for us because it puts us into tour land. It’s a notch in that belt that we have not had the opportunity or chance to do yet. So to be on multiple dates with such an iconic band is awesome and the venues are just top-notch.”

“We certainly hope to get more out of these shows than we have gotten out of other shows,” Paquin added. “But it’s simply part of the process. We’re getting where we need to be and it’s a gradual climb.”

A self-confessed “riff guy” in the school of Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Ritchie Blackmore and Malcolm Young, Fitz handpicked the seasoned musicians who make up Bad Marriage in one last attempt at hitting the big time.

When he was looking for a singer to share his vision, Fitz knew Paquin was the only choice to be Bad Marriage’s frontman.

Before Bad Marriage, Paquin — who cites Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers Freddie Mercury and most recently Ronnie James Dio as his musical influences — sang lead for After Fab, a tribute band that focuses exclusively on each of the Beatles’ solo material.

“This dude, Jonny, I’ve seen what he can do,” Fitz said of Paquin. “I’ve never had a chance to be in a band with him but he’s coming with me because I know he can pull off what I envisioned that goes along with my guitar playing.”

Fitz also came up with the name Bad Marriage.

“I’ve never been married so it has nothing to do with an actual bad marriage, even though everybody who hears the name seems like they can relate. It’s hilarious. Eddie Money kicked open our dressing room door and said, ‘Bad Marriage. That’s the best (expletive) name I’ve ever heard. I’m going through one right now,’ ” Fitz said. “The name is loosely based around being a musician throughout the years in different bands. Trying to keep it together as a band, it’s like having four relationships. Not only do you have your girlfriend, you also have four other members to deal with and their significant others. It’s not an easy thing.”

In 2017, Classic Rock magazine featured Bad Marriage twice in its pages — once for its “Rising Stars” issue and later for its “Best of the Year” issue. Not only that, Bad Marriage’s tune “Electric Emerald Eyes” was sandwiched in between tracks from Alice Cooper and Deep Purple on a companion disc that came with the year-end issue of the British music publication.

“We got a pretty big surge of UK rock ‘n’ roll rabid fans sending email after email to Bad Marriage saying, ‘Guys, when are you coming to the UK? You are the best song on the disk,’ ” Fitz said. “It was very, very awesome.”

Whether playing to a modest-size crowd in a little pub in Bellingham or a packed house at the House of Blues in Boston, Fitz and Paquin said they make it their job to give people absolutely no choice but to have an amazing time.

As for the creative process, Fitz comes up with riffs first and hands them off to Paquin, who writes the lyrics. From there, the rough composition is taken to the rest of the band where they are sonically fleshed out even further.

“The guys we have are irreplaceable because they get us and they let us do our work,” Fitz said. “They add the fina l touches on the song. Todd has come up with some crazy bass lines that have exceeded my expectations, and Delaney, I’ve been playing with him since ’97-’98.”

Bad Marriage expects to release its first full-length album later in the year. Already, the band has released three musical videos — for the retro-headbanging rocker “Old School Stereo,” the hard-rocking “Diablo” and the band’s solid cover of Tom Petty’s “Honey Bee.”

Bad Marriage has also been asked to record a killer cover of Dio’s “Holy Diver” from the publishing company that owns the Dio catalog.

“We have a good thing going with the way we have been able to pump out songs,” said Fitz, who does all the production, tracking and mixing for the band. “And Jonny and I, we’re picky bastards. When I say we pump them out, they’re not (expletive). These are the ones that we’re psyched about.”

While rocking out live is fun, Fitz and Paquin said the best part of Bad Marriage is its base of “awesome super fans” that continues to grow and even brings the band homemade goodies at gigs.

“We treat our fans like our friends. It’s not just a ‘Thanks for showing up.’ It’s a ‘Hey, how are you?’ ” Paquin said. “We take these people very, very seriously. Our fans are the reason that we are where we are right now.”
