This park was easily 5 stars. We stopped on a whim during a roadtrip and it was 100% worth it. We did a guided tour with Heath and he was fantastic! He knew all the animals and their names & pointed out the mamas with their new babies. He made sure we saw the animals but was also still respectful if they didn't want to say hello. It was very clean and all the animals had plenty of space to roam with fresh water. The birds inside were a "hoot" to talk with. We will definitely be back. Thank you Heath!

Omg, this place was AWESOME!!!! We had a blast. We totally recommend getting at least 2 bags of feed if you really want to feed a lot of the animals for 2 people. The zebra-donkey was my favorite animal in the park... He took my cup but it was funny . We very much enjoyed the experience. The ladies behind the counter were super awesome, and sweet. Very wonderful southern hospitality ♥. Great place for family fun.

I recently visited Wild Country Safari Park in Richland Parish, Louisiana with my family, and I cannot recommend it enough! The staff and owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making our experience even more enjoyable. The way they interacted with both the animals and visitors showed a genuine passion for what they do. Our kids had an amazing time exploring the park and interacting with the adorable animals. The variety of species and the up-close encounters made the trip truly memorable for them. It was a perfect blend of education and entertainment that kept them engaged throughout the visit. Overall, Wild Country Safari Park exceeded our expectations, and we're already looking forward to our next visit. It's a must-visit destination for families looking to have a fun and educational day out in Louisiana.

This was such a FUN place to go with my kids! They absolutely loved our time here and did not want to leave. We rode a bus through the park and they allowed everyone to feed all the animals included with our field trip, they then got to go and pet and feed kangaroos , ostrich , deer , donkey, zebra, CAMELS! And more. The camels were hilarious the kids were screaming and laughing the whole Time! They have a nice lunch picnic area, another petting zoo and playground equipment. For a bunch of wild animals everywhere this place was extremely clean and tidy. We also loved talking to the birds in the gift shop. The only other advice or information would be that if you come I highly suggest you use their tour bus to drive through the park rather than your personal vehicle. I wouldn’t want the animals scratching or getting slobber inside my actual vehicle but the tour was perfect and they tell you a lot of cool animal facts too. Highly suggest a visit here

The other drive yourself through Safari Park I have been to did not allow any feeding of animals and more variety of animals. That said, this was pretty darn cool seeing the animals look you right in the eye all up close and personal. It was like they were staring into my soul. Relatively inexpensive. I would recommend if you are doing other things in the area, not necessarily making a special trip just for this.

Tucked away in the northeastern part of the state lies one of the most charming towns for a weekend getaway, and that’s Delhi, LA. Home to less than 3,000 people, this tiny town is the perfect spot to park it for a few days and explore everything northeastern Louisiana has to offer. If you’re thinking of things to do in Delhi, Louisiana , don’t worry, we’ve got your back. We’ve planned out everything for you: your lodging, attractions, activities, and more. Pack your travel bags because adventure awaits, on this weekend getaway in Louisiana!

First, you’re going to need a place to stay.

Poverty Point State Park is the perfect spot to call home for the weekend. Bring your RV, pitch a tent, or rent one of the waterfront cabins.

This slice of paradise is nestled along a 2,700-acre man-made reservoir that’s a popular spot for fishing, swimming, and other water sports.

Spend some time exploring the hiking trails and checking out the wildlife! This is actually one of the few places in Louisiana where you may have a black bear sighting, so stay alert!

Just a few minutes away is the Poverty Point World Heritage Site, one of the most fascinating places in the Pelican State.

Over 3,400 years old, Poverty Point was a massive community and trading hub in its heyday before being mysteriously abandoned.

Since these early inhabitants left no written word behind, archaeologists and historians are trying to piece together their day-to-day lives by what they've uncovered. During your visit, pop into the visitor's center where you can see some of the artifacts that have been unearthed.

While you're in the area, be sure to check out Wild Country Safari Park.

Animal lovers of all ages will have a blast here.

At Wild Country Safari Park, you can get up close and personal with some of the most exotic animals on the planet--all from the comfort of your own car!

You can take one of the tours or drive through yourself. Be sure to purchase some feed for these cuddly critters!

After a day of history and cuddling animals, you can retire back to your cabin and watch the sunset over the reservoir.

This Blink-And-You’ll-Miss-It Town In Louisiana Is So Worth Exploring

Exploring Louisiana’s small towns is one of the best ways to experience Louisiana on a local level. Major cities like Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and Louisiana are all fabulous cities, but there’s nothing that can compare to a small-town getaway. If you’re looking for the perfect small town to spend a few days in, visiting Ville Platte, Louisiana might be just what you need.

Ville Platte is a tiny little town in central Louisiana that’s home to about 6,300 residents.

It’s not really located in an area that you’d just ‘happen to drive by’. Since it’s not that close to any major cities, it feels like you’re a million miles away from everything. We love that.

Sitting pretty just outside of Cajun Country in the Bayou Teche Region, visiting Ville Platte is perfect for nature lovers.

It’s perfect for scenic drives, too. The Zydeco Cajun Prairie Scenic Byway passes right through Ville Platte and will take you on a historic (and scenic) ride for 283 miles.

Chicot State Park is the crown jewel of this region.

Louisiana’s largest state park is overflowing with outdoor adventures. Much of the park’s amenities are centered around the lake, and it’s a perfect spot for fishing. I love renting a canoe from the park and setting off on the 8-mile paddle trail here.

There are a handful of hotels in Ville Platte, but I’d highly recommend staying in the cabins at Chicot State Park.

These floating cabins give you a front-row seat to the lake and they’re super spacious. You can dock your boat right outside your door, and each cabin has its own little pier to fish or lounge from.

The Louisiana State Arboretum is also located here, and it’s full of educational hiking trails that are family-friendly.

It’s the oldest state-supported arboretum in the country!

While you’re visiting, be sure to swing by Cafe Evangeline for a bite to eat.

Specializing in Cajun and Creole fare, this restaurant is actually housed in a former bank! The atmosphere is just as unique as the menu.

The Charming Small Town In Louisiana That’s Perfect For A Fall Day Trip

Homer, Louisiana, is a charming fall destination with historical sites, scenic views, and outdoor activities.

I absolutely love carving out some time every fall to do a little leaf-peeping and enjoy the cooler temperatures. Even though Louisiana may not have the grandiose color splash that our friends up north experience, it doesn’t mean we don’t have anything . Homer is one of my favorite places for fall day trips in Louisiana to spend some time in during the season, and here’s what awaits you when you pay a visit to this charming town in Claiborne Parish.

Named after the Greek poet, Homer is one of the best fall towns in Louisiana to spend a weekend exploring.

The downtown area offers plenty of things to do in fall in Louisiana including shopping and restaurants, and a few claims to fame that history lovers will enjoy. For example, the present-day courthouse is only one of four pre-Civil War courthouses in Louisiana that is still used today! The other three are in St. Francisville, St. Martinville, and Thibodaux.

The Hebert S. Ford Memorial Museum is a must when visiting Homer.

The local history museum is housed in the former Claiborne Hotel which was built in 1890. Here, you can learn all about the history and culture of the area, and even get an opportunity to view the oldest compressed bale of cotton in the United States, which is believed to date back to 1930. You’ll also learn about the oil industry, as the town experience a massive boom when oil was discovered here in 1921.

Lake Claiborne is the crown jewel of the town, and you’d be doing yourself a favor to enjoy a meal along the lake.

Pleasure Point Marina Bar & Grill is a local favorite, offering up all the best Louisiana classics since 1966, all with a beautiful waterfront view.

It's a family-owned and operated restaurant with a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

One of the biggest attractions in Homer is Lake Claiborne State Park .

The 6,400-acre man-made lake was formed by damming Bayou D’Arbonne, and the park itself offers 643 acres of natural scenery to enjoy.

It's one of the best places to see the leaves change in Louisiana, but you'll have to wait a little longer to see them. Typically, we see ours begin to change around November, but this year the weather has been crazy! One cold snap could bump the timeline up.

You might be inspired to change your Louisiana day trip to an overnighter and pitch a tent and spend a night camping under the stars!

But if you prefer four walls and a roof over your head, I've got a great spot for you. This Vrbo in Homer sits directly over Lake Claiborne and is just delightful during the fall.
