Barcelona USA tour 2024: Schedule, tickets, stadiums and more

For the third summer in a row, Barcelona will tour the United States.

Three high-profile friendlies are on the agenda, as Barcelona will take part in the Soccer Champions Tour for a second straight year. The preseason competition also includes Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan, and Manchester City.

Once again, the marquee event of Barça's tour will be a preseason El Clásico against Barcelona, with this year's edition taking place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

It will be the third consecutive preseason Clásico on U.S. soil, after the teams met in Arlington, Texas last year. Overall, it will be the fourth time Real Madrid and Barcelona have met on U.S. soil

This year's tour will feature captivating friendly matches against renowned teams such as Juventus , Arsenal , Real Madrid , and AC Milan . Unlike the previous year, where the tour primarily focused on the eastern part of the country, this time Barcelona's tour will revolve around the western region, with particular emphasis on Los Angeles.

The team is scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this Wednesday, marking the beginning of their American journey. They will establish their base in the vibrant city of Los Angeles until July 28, although the first match against Juventus will take place at the Levi's Stadium , located south of San Francisco, on July 22 . Following the game, the team will promptly return to Los Angeles.

Next in line is a thrilling encounter against Arsenal on July 26 , which will be held at the state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles. This will be the first meeting between Barcelona and Arsenal since their memorable clash in the 2016 UEFA Champions League round of 16, where the Catalans emerged victorious with an impressive 5-2 aggregate score.

After spending nine eventful days in Los Angeles, the team will make their way to Dallas on July 28 for a highly anticipated match against Real Madrid at the iconic AT&T Stadium , home of the Dallas Cowboys. It will mark the third meeting between these two soccer giants on US soil. Barcelona has emerged victorious in their previous encounters, which took place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in 2017 and the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in 2022.

On July 31, the team will head westward to Las Vegas, where they will conclude their tour with an enthralling match against AC Milan on August 1 . The game will take place at the impressive Allegiant Stadium , adding an extra layer of excitement to the grand finale of Barcelona's American expedition.

New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has named a 31-man squad for the team’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Barcelona will fly across the Atlantic on Sunday for games against Manchester City, Real Madrid and AC Milan .

Here’s the full list of players making the trip:

Goalkeepers: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Inaki Pena, Ander Astralaga, Diego Kochen

Defenders: Alejandro Balde, Inigo Martinez, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Julian Araujo, Clement Lenglet, Hector Fort, Alex Valle, Mikayil Faye, Gerard Martin, Andrés Cuenca, Sergi Domínguez, Alexis Olmedo.

Midfielders: Oriol Romeu, Ilkay Gundogan, Pablo Torre, Marc Casado, Unai Hernandez, Marc Bernal, Noah Darvich, Guille Fernández, Quim Junyent

Attackers : Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Vitor Roque, Pau Victor, Toni Fernandez.

Raphinha and Ilkay Gundogan are due to meet up with the team on Monday, while Jules Kounde still has a bit more time off and will join Barcelona on August 1.

Barcelona’s injured stars, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Ansu Fati, will stay behind to continue their recovery process.

The team’s first game is on Tuesday against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Barcelona will once again return to the United States this summer as the club embarks on a four-game preseason tour.

The Blaugrana will focus on the western portion of the country, with two games in California, one in Las Vegas and a much-anticipated El Clásico matchup with Real Madrid in Texas.

This summer’s U.S. tour will be part of the Soccer Champions Tour , which also includes Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Barcelona has toured the U.S. on 13 previous occasions, including 2011, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022. Last summer saw another El Clásico on U.S. soil, which took place in Las Vegas.

FC Barcelona planning a tour to the United States

Following the conclusion of the 2022/2023 football season in Spain, Mundo Deportivo reports that FC Barcelona are looking towards a proposed pre-season tour to the United States of America. Scheduled to take place in July of 2023, it would see Xavi’s men visit the country once again following their previous tour in the summer of 2022.

A major reasoning for the tour happens to be Barcelona’s economic situation. Finding a diverse plethora of revenue streams is currently a major objective for the Catalan giants, and tours such as the one being reported are a good avenue to increase their revenue generation.

Similar to the last time they traveled to the United States , FC Barcelona are expected to face the other two Super League advocates alongside them: Real Madrid and Juventus. Moreover, this time around, the Super League project seems like a much more approachable concept for teams that previously ended up opposing it, courtesy of the rulings in favor of the project made by legal authorities that frustrated UEFA and other domestic entities.

Furthermore, an expected favorable ruling by the Court of Luxembourg can also prove to be vital in making more and more clubs feel that the Super League project is actually an approachable outlet and may be reviewed.

However, Barcelona do intend on decreasing the length of their tour this time around in comparison to their 15-day period during their previous journey. Instead of taking part in 4 different games, it is rumored to be a 3-game tour during this visit.

The venues for this tour will reportedly be previously visited New York City, potentially the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, and a third venue located somewhere North of the country this time around.

After a few weeks of intense training under new coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona are set to embark on a pre-season tour to the United States.

This promises to be a crucial tour for Barcelona, as it will hand Flick the opportunity to closely assess many of the players. Not to mention, Barça are set to take on familiar European rivals including Manchester City, AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Just days before the tour, Barcelona have officially announced the squad list, which has some notable exclusions either due to injury or an extended summer break.

Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal are two notable exclusions as both are on an extended break in light of Spain’s success in Euro 2024.

Ferran Torres, Eric Garcia and Pau Cubarsi are not a part of the squad either as they are currently representing Spain in the Paris Olympics.

The likes of Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi have also been excluded on account of their respective injuries.

Inaki Martinez, Clement Lenglet and Vitor Roque, meanwhile, are part of the squad despite uncertainty over their futures .

Raphinha, too, has been included, along with Ilkay Gundogan and Jules Kounde. But these three players, having played either Euro 2024 or Copa America, will fly out on their own and will not travel with the squad.

Much of the 31-man squad involves La Masia stars, who will be in focus including the midfield trifecta of Marc Bernal, Marc Casado and Unai.

Noah Darvich and Mika Faye, too, will look to make an impression, along with Alex Valle and Pau Victor, all of who are looking to make a breakthrough in the senior team next season.

The Catalan club will face El Clásico rivals Real Madrid this summer, in addition to AC Milan, Arsenal and Juventus.

Barcelona have extended their pre-season tour in a bid to increase their revenue and alleviate their financial struggles. The LaLiga club have to reduce their wage bill this summer to register any new players and the likes of Gavi and Ronald Araujo are currently unable to sign on improved deals .

When will Barcelona play in their USA tour?

In a statement on their club website, Barcelona said “the first two games will be played in California; 22 July against Juventus in Santa Clara, San Francisco Bay Area, and on 26 July against Arsenal FC. The last two games will take place in Dallas Texas, for the clash with Real Madrid on 29 July and in Las Vegas where the tour will conclude with a game against AC Milan.”

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas is set to be the venue for the friendly match against Real Madrid on 29 July . This will be the third time that Spain’s two most successful clubs have faced each other in the US, after a 2017 fixture at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and a meeting at the Allegiant Stadium last year.

LaLiga and Premier League organise USA tours

In recent years pre-season tours of the United States have become increasingly common amongst the European elite and there will be more chances to watch them in action this year.

The Spanish top flight has announced a ‘ LaLiga Summer Tour ’ beginning this year, which will see clubs travel to the US and Mexico to play a series of friendly matches over the summer.

“The launch of the ‘LaLiga Summer Tour’ represents LaLiga’s desire to create a platform that allows us to take its teams to different parts of the world,” said Oscar Mayo, Executive General Director of LaLiga.

The Premier League is also planning an American excursion this summer, with six English clubs competing in the first Premier League Summer Series . Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle United will play in five cities across the East Coast this summer, with tickets starting at just $30 for some matches.

Games in the Premier League Summer Series will take place from Saturday 22 July to Sunday 30 July.

Barcelona's 2022 US tour features stops in Florida and New Jersey

After being unable to travel to the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Barcelona’s US tour starts anew this summer.

In mid- to late-July, the 26-time LaLiga champion makes its fifth trip to the U.S. in the last eight years. The American market is one of Barcelona’s targets for its international brand growth. With trips in 2011, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019, the Catalans are committed to the United States.

In those trips, Barcelona played against a number of famous opponents in front of massive crowds. In 2017, Barcelona played Real Madrid in the first  El Clásico  not on Spanish soil . Other matches included Napoli, Manchester United and Juventus.

This summer, Barcelona travels to the United States to play a pair of MLS teams. However, it is not necessarily the first time. On July 19, DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale hosts Barcelona’s battle against Inter Miami. David Beckham and Phil Neville have a history of facing Barcelona. Neville and Beckham were both part of the squads that saw a combined 12 goals over two group stage games between United and Barcelona in the 1998/99 Champions League.

FC Barcelona heading to United States this summer

Inter Miami only formed in 2018, making this the first game between the two. Eleven days later, Barcelona’s 2022 US tour rolls into New York. For the third time, Barcelona takes on New York Red Bulls. It has been a while. The two clubs faced off during Barcelona’s US tours in 2006 and 2008 at Metlife Stadium. Current Barcelona manager Xavi featured in both of those games, which Barcelona won 4-1 and 6-2.

Potential third fixture

Something to note about Barcelona’s announcement is that the club mentioned its number of games. During each of the previous visits stateside, Barcelona played three games. The club only announced two games in this tour.

So, that leaves the potential for a third game. Early reports are another El Clásico against Real Madrid. This time, if reports are true, the two Spanish giants are set to meet at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. This stadium hosted a number of soccer games last summer, particularly regarding the success of the United States Men’s National Team. This would be the second El Clásico in the United States, and just the third outside of Spain. The two sides met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Supercopa de España semifinals.

No date has been released yet. However, it would certainly be the biggest game for Barcelona’s 2022 US tour. Plus, it would likely be the biggest offseason game in the world of soccer throughout the summer.

Players to feature in Barcelona’s 2022 US tour

In the past, fans got to look forward to Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. Granted, all those players are gone.

However, the club has a number of young and promising players that are on the track to being world-beaters.

Pedri, for example, is already an elite midfielder at the age of 19. His play in the midfield allowed Barcelona to battle back from early season struggles in the past campaign to finish second in the league.

Ansu Fati has the burden on his shoulders to be the next Lionel Messi. An injury-laden start to his young career caused Barcelona fans to wait a little longer for his breakthrough. However, when Fati does play, he shows how special his talent is.

Both of these players suffered injuries throughout 2021/22. Therefore Barcelona’s 2022 US tour is a good chance for game action ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League in the coming season.

These are the major names, but other talents could be poised for a strong 2022/23, which starts here in the United States with the preseason.

Gavi and Alejandro Balde are two more teenagers with first-team experience already.

Then, of course, there are the more established players that draw in the headlines. Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba are mainstays in the Barcelona starting XI, as they have for years. Then, there are the question marks. Frenkie De Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele all may not be at the Nou Camp next season. Neymar famously played his last game for Barcelona in the United States against Real Madrid. This is a real possibility for Barcelona’s potential departures.

The tour of the United States, in detail

After the 2019 Japan Tour, FC Barcelona will travel to the United States where they will close their 2019 pre-season with two games against Napoli; on August 7 in Miami and August 10 in Michigan. The American public will see a double-header between the current champions of LaLiga and the runner-up in Italy's Serie A.

Ernesto Valverde's team will play the first game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, the same stadium where, in summer 2017, Barça played the first Clásico in the United States and won by 3-2. Three days later, both teams will meet each other again but this time it will be at the University of Michigan Stadium in the town of Ann Arbor, home of the Michigan Wolverines. This stadium is the largest in the country, with a capacity for 107,000 spectators.

Barça Fest Miami

The trip will also include a series of social and institutional events, among which will be Barça Fest Miami . This will take place in the Bayfront area and will be held on August 6, the day before the game, between 6.00pm-10.00pm (Miami time). This party will include various fun and games, entertainment activities with a Barça theme and a stage where Play NSkillz and Pedro Capó, author of one of the summer hits, Calma, will perform.

There are also several events and meetings planned with the clubs in the United States and Central America, as well as activities with some of the country's Barça Academies, the latter with the participation of the former player and current Barça ambassador, Juliano Belletti.

Third visit in three years

It will be the first time that FC Barcelona visits the United States in three consecutive pre-seasons and the ninth time in history. The first, in 1937, was for the survival of the Club. More recently, in 2017, the team played three games in New York, Washington and Miami. Last season they visited Los Angeles, Dallas and San Francisco, in addition to a stay in Portland, and it was a joint tour for the first time with Barça Women.

From the point of view of the global implantation of the Barça brand, the American market is a priority territory. That dynamic has seen the club have a permanent office in New York since 2016, in order to generate a larger quantity of new supporters in a market which is a strong industry and in which the competition is very strong.
