Taylor Swift Couldn't Resist Making A Cheeky Reference To Kanye West As Fans Interrupted Her Speech By Chanting Her Name During The Eras Tour

On Sunday, Taylor's fans were so happy for her that they almost didn't let her finish.

Earlier this year, Taylor Swift referred to the moment that Kanye West interrupted her at the 2009 VMAs as her " first worldwide scandal ," and it's fair to say that she wasn't exaggerating.

The incident took place incredibly early on in Taylor's career, and she was just 19 years old when Kanye famously stormed the stage as she accepted the Best Female Video award for her track "You Belong with Me."

Just moments into her speech, Kanye snatched the microphone from Taylor's hand and said that Beyoncé should have won for her "Single Ladies" music video instead.

“Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish," the rapper said. "But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”

Kanye was booed by the crowd and returned the mic to Taylor before casually walking off stage. Understandably, Taylor appeared to be in complete shock, and stood on the podium in silence before MTV cut to a pre-recorded segment.

According to reports, Kanye was escorted out of the building soon after he stole Taylor's moment, and she and Beyoncé both cried backstage because of his actions.

When Beyoncé won the Video of the Year award later that evening, she invited Taylor onstage so that she could finish her earlier speech.

Suffice to say, this moment has had long-lasting repercussions on Taylor's career , as well as pop culture as a whole. And in the years since, Taylor has been open about how deeply it affected her at the time.

In 2015, she confessed to GQ that when the audience booed Kanye, she believed that they were actually booing her because they agreed with him. She said: "When the crowd started booing, I thought they were booing because they also believed I didn't deserve the award. That's where the hurt came from.”

“I went backstage and cried, and then I had to stop crying and perform five minutes later,” Taylor added. “I just told myself I had to perform, and I tried to convince myself that maybe this wasn't that big of a deal.”

In 2020, she told Variety : "As a teenager who had only been in country music, attending my very first pop awards show, somebody stood up and sent me the message: 'You are not respected here. You shouldn't be here on this stage.' That message was received, and it burrowed into my psyche more than anyone knew.”

And when she released her version of her 2010 album Speak Now last month, Taylor also shared some previously unheard tracks "from the vault" — with the song "Castles Crumbling" believed to have been inspired by this difficult moment in her career.

But despite Taylor regularly revisiting the incident over the years, she caught her fans off-guard when she appeared to allude to it at her Eras Tour on Sunday.

As Taylor attempted to introduce her Evermore song "Champagne Problems" in Mexico City, her speech was interrupted by fans cheering and chanting her name.

Taylor looked confused and then overwhelmed as the chant went on for almost a minute, with the singer giggling and covering her mouth before shaking her head in apparent disbelief.

This is when she seemingly made the subtle reference to Kanye, telling the crowd: “People chanting your name is really the only way to be interrupted," before cheekily adding: "And I would know!"

Needless to say, fans are obsessed with Taylor's remark, and took to social media to share their reaction. One person tweeted: "no way taylor just made a kanye interruption joke" alongside two crying emojis.

Taylor’s comment comes just six months after fans claimed that the star had “war flashbacks” to Kanye’s behavior at this year’s Grammys.

The singer was in attendance when Harry Styles was awarded the much-coveted Album of the Year accolade, beating the likes of Adele, Lizzo, and Beyoncé.

While Harry’s famous peers applauded the win at the ceremony, the British star was ruthlessly heckled by others in the crowd during his acceptance speech, with people being heard shouting that Beyoncé should have won instead.

The shouts are clearly audible in videos of Harry's speech that were filmed from the stage, leaving little doubt that everybody at the venue could hear.

So when it was noticed that Taylor was Harry’s biggest supporter throughout his speech, it was quickly pointed out that this is probably because she knows exactly what those jeers can feel like.

Taylor seemingly tried to give Harry a friendly face to focus on in the audience as she remained standing throughout his speech, despite everybody around her sitting down.

Taylor Swift Appears To Joke About That Kanye West Moment In Eras Tour Concert

Curtis M. Wong

Senior Culture Reporter, HuffPost

kanye eras tour

With this year’s MTV Video Music Awards just around the corner, Taylor Swift appears to be reflecting on her own history with the annual ceremony ― including the time she was interrupted by Kanye West, who now goes by Ye.

Though Swift didn’t mention Ye directly, she seemingly alluded to that infamous pop culture moment on Sunday during the Mexico City stop on her Eras Tour. As the 12-time Grammy winner sat down to perform “ Champagne Problems ” off her 2021 album “Evermore,” the audience began chanting her name over and over.

“It’s the best way to be interrupted, by the way, just people chanting your name,” she told the crowd, as seen in video clips from the show. “It’s really the only way to be interrupted ― and I would know.”

For those who need a refresher, Swift was in the midst of accepting the best female video award at the 2009 MTV VMAs when Ye stormed the stage and proclaimed Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” more worthy of the honor.

The incident would set off what many have characterized as a decadelong feud between Ye and Swift.

This isn’t the first time that Swift has appeared to have a laugh at the 14-year-old situation while on tour.

She broke down in giggles last month in Seattle while performing an acoustic version of “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things,” a 2017 track that was rumored to have been inspired by Ye.

“I can’t even say it with a straight face,” she told the crowd , after singing the line: “And here’s to you, ’cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do.”

Ye interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Earlier this year, actor Taylor Lautner ― who presented the award to Swift in 2009 and was in a relationship with her at the time ― offered his own take on the situation.

In a chat with his wife, Tay Lautner, on “The Squeeze” podcast , the “Twilight” star said he was “unaware that the Kanye thing was not a skit” until after it happened.

“I’m just assuming that this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit, because why else would Kanye West be jumping up on the stage interrupting Taylor Swift? It just didn’t make sense,” he recalled.

Just moments later, the reality of the situation began to sink in.

“The second she turned back around and I saw her face for the first time,” he said, “I was like, ‘Oh! That wasn’t good.’”

Swift is nominated for eight VMAs at this year’s ceremony, which is set to take place Sept. 12. If she secures at least seven of those wins, she’ll surpass Madonna as the most-awarded artist in VMAs history.

‘The Eras Tour’ vs ‘Vultures’: Can Taylor Swift and Kanye West Lock Horns as the Infamous Duo Eye International Tours in 2024?

2023 was Taylor Swift’s golden year. From reaching massive levels of success with The Eras Tour to even breaking records with her concert film, the 34-year-old was at the top of the world. However, it looks like 2024-2025 might hold a little competition in store for the singer. Recently, it was announced that her rival, Kanye West , would be making his touring comeback for his ‘Vultures’ album.

With both artists planning world tours, let us take a look at whether the two could end up going head to head with their concerts and record breaks.

Taylor Swift vs Kanye West: Whose concert tour could reign supreme?

Kanye West might have dominated the scene in the mid to early 2000s. However, recently, Taylor Swift’s popularity seems to have taken him over. Now, for the first time in a while, it looks like both the artists will be on a world tour at the same time. With both of them even hitting the same countries, let us see if they could cross paths while making history.

Do Taylor Swift and Kanye West’s tour dates overlap?

Just hours ago, Kanye West announced his plans for a world tour.  Although the rapper’s dates have not been confirmed, his tour will begin on June 22nd and continue into 2025. His rival, Taylor Swift, also has tour dates set for the year. However, there would be no way for the artists to bump into each other with the singer promoting her new album and rushing to perform.

While Swift will also be making her way to the UK, Japan, and Australia, the singer’s dates are much closer than the rapper’s. That means that though their fans might get to enjoy the best of both worlds, the 46-year-old and the ‘Mean’ singer would be missing each other by almost a year. However, it does mean that comparing their concert tours will be a little easier.

Although West’s comeback has been highly anticipated, there is a chance Swift could come out on top if their tours ever went head to head.

Who has had more success on tour, Kanye West or Taylor Swift?

Back in 2013-14, Kanye West was at the top of his game. While other stars like Taylor Swift had just started to make their way up the ladder of fame, the rapper had already reached the top. During ‘The Yeezus Tour’, he ended up grossing $95 million , and it even became the highest-grossing hip-hop tour of all time. However, the 46-year-old lost his spot to Drake and Kendrick Lamar, who are still competing for it.

As for Swift, last year she took touring to a whole new level. ‘The Eras Tour’ not only became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time with well over $1 billion in revenue but also was voted one of the top experiences of the year . While putting Ye and the singer together at the height of her career seems rather unfair, there is a chance that fans of the rapper will find their way back once he goes on tour.

Kanye West vs Taylor Swift: Which artist has more streamers?

Ever since Kanye West’s controversial streak began, the rapper has lost a lot of fans. While that has resulted in him becoming Spotify’s 18th artist with the most monthly listeners, he has lost out on a lot more. However, his rival, Taylor Swift, seems to be a fan favorite at the moment. Since last year, the singer has managed to keep her numbers at over 100 million listeners every month.

While Ye’s fans might not be too pleased, the singer might just take the lead. With more people seeming to be interested in Swift’s music, it looks as though her international world tour just might end up breaking records once again as he gets left behind.

Taylor Swift seemingly pokes fun at Kanye West VMAs interruption during Eras Tour

The Midnights singer knows a thing or two about onstage interruptions.

kanye eras tour

Karma really is her boyfriend.

Taylor Swift got the last laugh at her Eras Tour concert in Mexico City Sunday night when she appeared to take a jab at Kanye West 's infamous onstage interruption at the 2009 MTV Video Music Award s.

While sitting down to play "Champagne Problems" during the Evermore "era" of the Eras Tour, fans in attendance interrupted Swift by chanting her name over and over. In videos from the moment shared to social media, Swift can be heard telling the crowd afterward, "It's the best way to be interrupted, by the way, just people chanting your name. It's really the only way to be interrupted… and I would know."

As a refresher (for those living under a rock), West rushed the stage at the 2009 MTV VMAs as Swift was accepting Best Video by a Female Artist for her hit "You Belong with Me." Taking the mic — and the moment — from her, West famously told a shell-shocked Swift, "I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!" The interruption inspired memes galore and a years-long feud between the two music stars.

Fans believe this isn't the first time on the Eras Tour that Swift has seemingly had a laugh about the situation. At an earlier tour stop in July, the pop star chose to sing the Reputation track "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things," which is rumored in part to be about West, during the surprise acoustic set in the show. In the original version of the song, Swift at one point sings "And here's to you / 'Cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do,'" before laughing sardonically and admitting, "I can't even say it with a straight face."

When she got to that part of the song at the concert in July, she cackled so hard she couldn't contain her laughter and had to take a beat before continuing the song.

The Midnights singer just finished up four back-to-back shows in Mexico City, the first international stop on her massive Eras Tour. Next up, Swift is getting ready for the release of her re-recorded album , 1989 (Taylor's Version) , in October before once again hitting the road with the tour, which will as of now end in Toronto next November.

Taylor References Kanye at 'Eras Tour': Only 1 Way to Be 'Interrupted'

Taylor Swift made an “Innocent” joke about the origins of her drama with Kanye West as she brought The Eras Tour to Mexico.

Swift, 33, kicked off the international leg of her acclaimed tour with four nights at Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City. During the concert on Sunday, August 27, Swift not-so-subtly referenced her 2009 VMAs incident with West, 46, during her emotional Evermore set.

Swift was thanking fans for their enduring support over the years and explaining the inspiration behind The Eras Tour when the audience took over. In footage shared via social media , she gave the camera one of her trademark surprised facial expressions as cheers filled the arena.

“People chanting your name, it’s really the only way to be interrupted,” she said as she turned her attention back to her piano. “And I would know.”

Ooh, look what they made her do. Taylor Swift’s feuds with ex-boyfriends and ex-friends have kept fans enraptured over the years, especially because she often turns her high-profile beefs into chart-topping hits. The pop star never names the targets of her lyrical disses, but Swifties hardly have to read between the lines to know who […]

Swift’s quip came 14 years after West rushed the stage during her VMAs acceptance speech for Best Female Video, sparking a years-long feud. After she was announced as the winner for her “You Belong With Me” video, West grabbed the mic from Swift and declared his support for Beyoncé ‘s “Single Ladies” visual.

“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish. But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” he said. “One of the best videos of all time!”

Swift, then 19 years old, told reporters after the ceremony: “I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I’d just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage … and then I wasn’t excited anymore after that.”

West, for his part, chalked up his “rude” behavior to a mix of “sincerity and alcohol” during a 2009 interview with Ellen DeGeneres . He called Swift to apologize, which she accepted.

When Swift returned to the VMAs stage one year later, she performed the Speak Now ballad “Innocent,” which was penned after her debacle with West. He subsequently walked back his apology, telling The New York Times in 2013 that he didn’t “have one regret” about what went down.

Taylor Swift is one of the most-decorated musicians of all time — but her pop star reputation didn’t come without a few controversies. Swift dropped her self-titled debut album in 2006, kickstarting her country career. Over her next eight albums, she began to branch out of her original genre and cross over into pop territory. […]

The MTV awards show continued to play a vital role in the pair’s public relationship, with Swift presenting the 2015 Video Vanguard Award to West. “I guess I have to say to all the other winners tonight: I’m really happy for you, and I’mma let you finish, but Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time!” she joked.

While it appeared as though the twosome had patched up their past drama , the resolution was short-lived. West referenced Swift on his 2016 track “Famous,” claiming, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous” — and the duo’s feud was quickly reignited.

After Swift hit back at people who “try to undercut your success” in her Album of the Year speech at the 2016 Grammys, West’s then-wife, Kim Kardashian , proceeded to stir the pot. “She totally approved that [lyric],” Kardashian, 42, claimed to GQ that June. “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t.”

A spokesperson for Swift shut down the accusations in a statement at the time but acknowledged that Swift spoke to West “once” before the song was released. Kardashian continued to claim that Swift flipped on West “to play the victim,” hinting on Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2016, “It definitely got her a lot of attention the first time.”

Several of Taylor Swift’s famous friends and fans have shown up to shake it off at the singer’s much-anticipated The Eras Tour. Kardashian went on to release videos of West’s alleged phone conversation with Swift, prompting Swift to issue a now-infamous statement: “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009.”

The back and forth — and the public’s torn response to the drama — served as the inspiration for Swift’s 2017 album, Reputation . Fans believe “Look What You Made Me Do” and “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” allude to the feud.

An extended version of the Swift-West phone call subsequently leaked online in 2020. The pair’s ups and downs have remained at the forefront of pop culture, with Swift’s ex Taylor Lautner — who presented the 2009 award — even reflecting on the VMAs moment that started it all earlier this year.

“I’m just assuming that this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit because why else would Kanye West be jumping up on the stage, interrupting Taylor Swift?” he recalled on an episode of “The Squeeze” in February. “[Then] I was like, ‘Oh, no. That wasn’t good.'”

Taylor Swift holds a pink guitar and looks up to the crowd away from her mic during Taylor Swift The Eras Tour at SoFi Stadium on August 3, 2023 in Inglewood, California

Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour is trending toward an opening weekend gross of over $100 million , which would immediately make it the highest grossing concert film of all time. It’s not a surprise when you look at the success of the tour it’s based on, which sold the most tickets ever for an artist in a single day and is projected to earn $2 billion by this month. The show’s set list spans the many “eras” of the 33-year-old Swift’s career, with room for hits like “You Belong With Me,” “Bad Blood,” and “Anti-Hero.”

While Swift’s songwriting and genre curveballs have defined the many eras of her still-early career, so has public fascination with her non-artistic life. In particular, Swift’s romantic history has grown to mythological proportions, her reported relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce making as many headlines as the The Eras Tour box-office records. Photos and videos of Swift attending Kansas City Chiefs games went viral, as so many paparazzi photos of the musician and her current flames have in the past.

The joke is that Swift will inevitably write a song about Kelce once they break up, part of a recurring punchline that has followed Swift for over a decade now. Just searching for “ Taylor Swift break up song ” on Twitter unleashes a barrage of mockery in anticipation of it. A cursory online search shows people already using ChatGPT to “find out” what one would sound like.

But what might be mockery to some is a reason for adoration to others. That openness about relationships and their (extremely) likely problems? For Swifties, that’s the draw.

Taylor Swift kneels on stage with a black and white projected image of herself behind her during Taylor Swift The Eras Tour at Levi’s Stadium on July 28, 2023 in Santa Clara, California

Objectively, Swift has written a ton about break-ups. In “Tim McGraw,” the first song on her self-titled debut album, her in-song character hopes that a high school boyfriend remembers her every time they hear a song by the country artist. The track was apparently inspired by real-life events . Raw, autobiographical songwriting is not a new thing, for Swift or any artist. There are few more prominent sources for the emotion of modern art than getting dumped. But Swift’s popularity has turned her into the patron saint of rejection, to the extent that every hit song inspires detective work from her fans in order to dissect just who the lyrics are about.

“Last Kiss”? Reportedly inspired by her late-aughts love for Joe Jonas . “Back To December”? Twilight series star Taylor Lautner . “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”? Her paparazzi-filled time with Jake Gyllenhaal . “I Knew You Were Trouble”? Her Gyllenhaal again, or possibly John Mayer. Even Kanye West, who didn’t date Swift and simply publicly feuded with her for a while, apparently got the treatment in “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.” The list goes on.

As such, Swift’s career has become Rear Window for people that like celebrity gossip, despite her typically remaining publicly vague on whoever she’s supposedly throwing under the bus in her songs. It’s certainly treated that way by those who laugh about her array of romances. New significant other? They’re going to eventually hear a verse or two about how they messed up. And as Swift enters her mid-30s, a time when society nudges most people toward the idea of “settling down” if they haven’t already, the joke gets a little more mean. It’s a woman on a cycle of bad dates, a reputation that Swift has spoken about numerous times, ranging back to tracks like “Shake It Off”: “Got nothing in my brain… I go on too many dates/But I can’t make ‘em stay/That’s what people say.”

Taylor belts into the microphone during the Eras tour

Her detractors may wonder why Swift hasn’t gotten married or found “the one” yet, but consider the numbers: 19% of women between 30 and 49 are single (32% are single between 18 and 29). And according to a 2011 study, unmarried people between the ages of 18 and 35 had a 36.5% chance of breaking up over a 20-month period. Her songs about ongoing romantic quests the hard truths of finding love hew get closer to reality than most traditional media.

Even if you’re not calling it quits, most relationships will have at least some brand of problems along the way, problems that get magnified when you’re in the public eye like Swift is on a constant basis. Swift’s ability to croon about them, through a high school lens in her first album Taylor Swift , all the way to her most recent record Midnights — in which she daydreams about a past relationship in “Maroon,” wonders about her own romantic choices in “Midnight Rain,” and mentions unrequited love in “You’re On Your Own, Kid” — is one of the reasons why Swift’s audience remains so huge. Just as one makes art about failed romance, there’s something intensely freeing about Swift’s mix of country-infused guitar ballads and brash pop epics about how much it sucks to be left stranded or be unsure about your relationship.

For Swift fans, the appeal doesn’t really lie in the break-ups (Though there are few better sensations than shouting a song at the top of your lungs when you’ve got the blues because it nails exactly how you’ve been feeling). Rather, it’s all an ode to the general messiness of relationships, something Swift has turned into perhaps her finest art. For those that have stuck with her since the beginning, back when she was promoting through MySpace and held up as the future of country music, all the way until now, as she snaps photo ops with Beyoncé at her film’s red carpet premiere, her consistency in admitting that relationships can be hard is far more important than mean-spirited allegations that she flirts too much.

The reviews for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour are glowing, with a focus on how great concert films celebrate artists and are the next-best thing after the real-life tours. And why wouldn’t they be? Swift has proven herself to be the Break-Up Whisperer for multiple generations of her fans, and has channeled her music to reflect something that most people are bound to run into. In “Anti-Hero,” Swift sings “I have this thing where I get older, but just never wiser.” That’s poignant; the chaos of connection means that we’re all likely to run into things that confound and embrace us in equal measure. If Swift can remain a voice for dealing with that, Swifties wouldn’t have her music any other way.

Taylor Swift is about to go back on tour: Here's what to expect on the Eras Tour in Paris

kanye eras tour

After a two-month break, Taylor Swift is revitalizing her titanic Eras Tour in Paris, and fans believe there are changes coming to the show.

If you are wondering where she's playing, if there will be changes and how to score tickets, here's everything we know.

And if you're new to the Eras Tour party, you can get caught up on the first 83 shows here .

When does the Eras Tour start again?

Swift kicks off the European leg of her tour on Thursday, May 9, in Paris. She will perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, as well, in the City of Light.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

What are Taylor Swift's tour dates in Europe?

There are 69 shows left in the Eras Tour: 51 in Europe, nine in America and nine in Canada.

The European leg stretches from May all the way through a five-night stand at Wembley Stadium in London in mid-August.

See a complete list of international dates here .

After she wraps up in Europe, Swift will stop in Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis before wrapping up in Canada.

See the remaining U.S. dates here .

What is the Eras Tour set list?

The Eras Tour has featured a massive 45-song set list you can check out here . But speculation is swirling it won't look the same when Swift takes the stage in Paris.

Will Taylor Swift add 'The Tortured Poets Department' to her set list?

The tortured poet has been on hiatus keeping her stamina up by releasing a double album of 31 tracks. The 2-hours-and-2-minutes project broke a number of Billboard records as the superstar did zero press to promote it. Fans flocked to stores and streaming services to listen to all the songs from "Fortnight" to "The Manuscript."

Although the singer has not confirmed whether her 11th era album will be added to her Eras Tour set list, she did post a YouTube shorts video with two scenes that sent Easter egg decoders into a frenzy. In one of the shots, the singer is next to a railing where a "TTPD" logo appears to be (at 0:11). In the succeeding shot, her back-up dancers perform holding canes and wearing top hats, something they have not worn previously.

Swift's dancers and bandmates posted to their Instagram stories as they left for France last week. The singer did not appear at two media events with her boyfriend Travis Kelce: the Kentucky Derby and a Formula 1 race in Miami , Florida. Patrick Mahomes, Kelce's friend and Kansas City's quarterback, attended the car racing spectacular with his wife, Brittany.

Can I still get Eras Tour tickets?

Swift's show is completely sold out in Europe and North America. There are resale sites with tickets, but be wary of scams. The best way to avoid getting swindled is continuously checking links on Swift's website . There are some for resale on the sites verified by her camp.

Singapore was a hotbed for fans who traveled thousands of miles only to get turned away at the venue. In Tokyo and Australia, last-minute ticket drops happened a few days — without announcement — ahead of the shows.

Miami, New Orleans and Indianapolis — the three U.S. cities Swift is visiting in the fall — have some of the heftiest price tags with Canada closely behind. In may be cheaper to travel to Warsaw, Poland, or Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Here's a list of cities with the cheapest resale tickets, according to travel website  Islands.com .

10. Vienna, Austria — total average cost: $1,089, safety score: 69.72

9. Cardiff, U.K. — total average cost: $1,061, safety score: 61.83

Who are the opening acts?

Paramore launched the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona, in March 2023, so it's fitting the American rock band is opening the tour's second year. The act will open for Swift for 51 shows across Europe . The band was dubbed the 2024 Record Store Day global ambassador and surprised fans in Nashville the weekend following the release of "The Tortured Poets Department."

When the tour comes back to North America in October , Swift's opening act will be Gracie Abrams.

Where can I watch if I don't have tickets?

The Eras Tour is one of the first tours that has been followed, globally, by thousands of fans on digital platforms. Fans dedicate part of their concert experience to livestreaming as Swift performs. A few Swifties have learned how to host their own shows over social media including Tess Bohne , known as the livestream queen. Bohne goes live for (almost) every show pulling streams from Instagram and TikTok. When a livestream goes down, she fills the time with banter.

On YouTube, user @TaylorSwiftHockeyBro also livestreams the three-hour show, and on Twitch, @folkleric , is a host fans follow.

There is also an app, Swift Alert , that notifies fans who only want to watch certain eras like the acoustic, surprise set. The app sends out push alerts if there are any major announcements.

What secret songs are left?

For the past 83 shows, Swift has played an acoustic set she customizes at each stop with a guitar and piano performance. In 2024, the Eras Tour star added mashups of her songs for each stop. Here are the songs she has yet to perform:

  • "Taylor Swift" (debut album): "Mary's Song" and "A Perfectly Good Heart"
  • "Fearless": "The Way I Loved You," "Change," "Superstar," "We Were Happy," "That's When," "Don't You" and "Bye Bye Baby"
  • "Red": "Girl At Home," "Ronan," "Forever Winter" and "Run"
  • "1989": "Sweeter Than Fiction"
  • "Reputation": "I Did Something Bad"
  • "Lover": "London Boy," "Soon You'll Get Better" and "It's Nice to Have a Friend"
  • "Folklore": "Hoax"
  • "Evermore": "Happiness" and "Closure"
  • "Midnights": "Paris" and "Glitch"
  • "The Tortured Poets Department": all 31 tracks

Will Taylor Swift perform in 2025?

There have been many rumors that Swift will continue her show in 2025, but they are only rumors. Nothing has been announced for next year, and as of now, the tour will end in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Dec. 8.

Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' ushers in a new era of her music. Here's a guide to every era of her groundbreaking career.

  • Taylor Swift's 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," officially comes out on Friday.
  • Each of Swift's album cycles has had its own unique aesthetic expressed through fashion and staging.
  • The "Fearless" era was full of sparkles and romance, while "Reputation" ushered in her villain era.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour became the first tour in history to gross over $1 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time, the Associated Press reported in December, citing Pollstar data.

With a nearly three-hour-long set list and sparkling costume changes , the Eras Tour pays tribute to Swift's 10 studio albums and the unique styles and staging that accompanied them.

Swift's 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," ushers in a new era of her music.

Here's a guide to every album era of her groundbreaking career.

When she released her self-titled debut album in 2006, Taylor Swift became known as a rising young country star with a talent for songwriting.

kanye eras tour

Swift, who was 16 when the album was released, sang hit tracks like "Tim McGraw," "Our Song," and "Teardrops On My Guitar" with a country twang, and she graced red carpets in sundresses and cowboy boots.

"I get so excited about these things because I love to dress up. But I wear cowboy boots so that when I walk down the stairs I won't fall," Swift told Entertainment Weekly in 2007 about attending award shows like the Country Music Awards.

The album earned Swift her first Grammy nomination, for best new artist, and a nomination for new female vocalist of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. "Our Song" made her the youngest artist in history to have written and performed a No. 1 song on the Hot Country Songs chart.

Swift's "Fearless" era was defined by sparkly dresses and hopeless romanticism.

kanye eras tour

Swift released her sophomore album, "Fearless," in 2008. It won four Grammys , including album of the year and best country album. It also won album of the year at both the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Her music video for "You Belong With Me" won best female video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. In the middle of her acceptance speech, Kanye West grabbed the microphone and declared that Beyoncé had been robbed, sparking a long-running feud .

Swift sang that she liked "glitter and sparkly dresses" and getting back at exes by "writing their names into songs so they're ashamed to go in public" when she hosted "Saturday Night Live" in 2009. Both were fixtures of her "Fearless" era, which explored the highs of grand romantic gestures in songs like "Love Story" and the lows of heartbreak in tracks like "Forever & Always."

On the Fearless Tour, Swift wore ball gowns and sequins while performing on a stage featuring a fairy-tale castle.

During her "Speak Now" era, purple became Swift's signature color as she clapped back at critics and wrote increasingly confessional material.

kanye eras tour

Swift wrote the entirety of "Speak Now" (2010) by herself, without any cowriters, in response to critics who claimed she didn't write her own songs.

"I've had several upheavals in my career," she told Rolling Stone in 2019. "When I was 18, they were like, 'She doesn't really write those songs.' So my third album I wrote by myself as a reaction to that."

Swift's "Speak Now" era maintained some of the magic and whimsy of "Fearless" with tracks like "Sparks Fly" and the anthemic "Long Live," but it also included scathing songs like "Dear John," "Better Than Revenge," and "Mean," which won two Grammys for best country song and best country solo performance.

Swift appears in a purple dress on the original album cover of "Speak Now," and she wore a purple dress on the Speak Now World Tour. She also released a perfume in a purple bottle called "Wonderstruck" in 2011, referencing lyrics in the chorus of her song "Enchanted:" "I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home."

"Red" marked the beginning of Swift's shift away from country music with vintage looks and experimental sounds.

kanye eras tour

The "Red" era, naturally, featured lots of vibrant red colors. Swift also began experimenting more with her style and sound. She straightened her famously curly hair, traded sparkly dresses for vintage looks like high-waisted shorts, and collaborated with pop producers such as Max Martin and Shellback.

"Musically and lyrically, 'Red' resembled a heartbroken person," Swift wrote in a 2021 Instagram post announcing the release of her re-recorded album, "Red (Taylor's Version)." "It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together at the end."

"Red" was nominated for four Grammys, including album of the year and best country album. It spent seven weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, making Swift the first female artist and the second artist ever (aside from The Beatles) to have three consecutive albums spend at least six weeks at No. 1.

Swift's "1989" album cemented her as a global pop icon. It was also the era of her famous "squad."

kanye eras tour

When Swift released "1989" in 2014 with catchy tracks like "Shake It Off" and "Style," she left no doubt that she had transcended her country roots and become a full-blown pop star. It won three Grammys, including album of the year, and became the fastest-selling album of the last decade, Variety reported.

"The best choices are bold choices," Swift said in a 2014 interview with "On-Air With Ryan Seacrest," per Taste of Country . "With my last album 'Red,' I kind of had one foot in pop and one foot in country, and that's really no way to walk and get anywhere. If you want to continue to evolve, I think eventually you have to pick a lane, and I just picked the one that felt more natural to me at this point in my life."

Her "1989" era was dominated by her "squad" of famous friends . Squad members Karlie Kloss , Cara Delevingne, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham, and others starred in her music video for "Bad Blood."

On the 1989 World Tour, Swift debuted an edgier style with sequined bustiers and illusion jumpsuits.

"Reputation," released in 2017, ushered in Swift's villain era.

kanye eras tour

Swift went dark during this era, wiping her social-media accounts and refraining from interviews and public appearances. Her mantra was "There will be no further explanation. There will just be reputation."

In "Look What You Made Me Do," Swift declared that "the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now" because "she's dead." In music videos and on tour, she leaned into the snake imagery that emerged out of her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West , when fans of the latter flooded her social media accounts with snake emojis.

"I went through some times when I didn't know if I was going to get to do this anymore," she told the crowd in Glendale, Arizona, on the opening night of the Reputation Stadium Tour, Buzzfeed reported. "I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name-calling to bully you on social media, and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn't have to beat you. It can strengthen you instead."

Despite the darkness of the era, songs like "Delicate" and "Gorgeous" also chronicle the beginning of her relationship with Joe Alwyn. The two dated for six years before breaking up in April 2023.

The album received one Grammy nomination for best pop vocal album. The Reputation Stadium Tour became the highest-grossing US tour in history — a record she has since beaten — Forbes reported.

The short-lived "Lover" era was full of rainbows, dreamy pastel colors, and political activism.

kanye eras tour

"Lover," released with Republic Records in 2019, was the first album that Swift fully owned after her master recordings were sold to music executive Scooter Braun . The acquisition caused a public feud, with Swift calling the acquisition her "worst case scenario" in a Tumblr post and Braun saying he "regrets" how it was handled .

The singer leaned fully into political activism with her song and music video for "You Need To Calm Down" advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. She also wrote more upbeat autobiographical songs about her relationship, such as "London Boy" and "Paper Rings."

"I'm in a much better mood," Swift said in a 2019 appearance on "The Graham Norton Show" when asked about her new music's bright pop aesthetic.

Lover Fest would have been her sixth concert tour, but all shows were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The album received three Grammy nominations, won four MTV Video Music Awards, and won favorite pop/rock album at the American Music Awards.

"Folklore" and "Evermore" emerged out of quarantine, with Swift embracing folk sounds, storytelling, and cottagecore.

kanye eras tour

Swift collaborated with producers Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner to craft a new sound and approach to songwriting. She also wrote a few tracks with Alwyn, who used the pseudonym "William Bowery."

Instead of writing purely autobiographical songs, Swift was inspired by characters and stories of her own creation.

"In isolation my imagination has run wild and this album is the result, a collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness," she wrote in an Instagram post announcing "Folklore." "Picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history, and memory. I've told these stories to the best of my ability with all the love, wonder, and whimsy they deserve."

Swift left the sheen and vibrancy of "Lover" behind in favor of a more understated, woodsy style. She wore her natural curls in loose braids and buns, and her wardrobe consisted of cozy cardigans, plaid coats, and jewel-toned velvet.

Swift won her third Grammy award for album of the year for "Folklore," making her the first woman to win album of the year three times . "Folklore" was also the best-selling album of 2020, Rolling Stone reported.

Swift ushered in a new darker, '70s-inspired era with "Midnights."

kanye eras tour

"Midnights" explores Swift's feelings of wistfulness, self-loathing, and loneliness that keep her up at night. The album art and "Anti-Hero" music video feature the singer wearing retro outfits in spaces with wood paneling and warm colors straight out of the 1970s, while the music video for "Bejeweled" adds a glitzy, celestial element to the era.

"This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams," she wrote on Instagram . "The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching — hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve... we'll meet ourselves."

Swift became only artist in history to claim all top 10 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week when songs from "Midnights" filled all 10 spots.

At the 2024 Grammys, it won album of the year , making Swift the first person in history to win the award four times. "Midnights" also won best pop vocal album.

For her 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," Swift leaned into a greyscale color palate and academia themes.

kanye eras tour

When she announced the upcoming release of "The Tortured Poets Department" at the Grammys, Swift hinted at the album's black-and-white color theme with her outfit of a white Schiaparelli corset gown paired with black gloves and heels.

On the greyscale album cover, Swift appears lying mournfully in a pile of pillows on a bed.

"All's fair in love and poetry," Swift captioned the image on Instagram .

Ahead of the album's release, Swift shared themed playlists on Apple Music that categorized songs from her previous albums into the five stages of grief popularized by psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Combined with the melancholy, tortured artist aesthetic, the album is widely believed to chronicle the end of Swift's six-year relationship with Alwyn.

A library-themed Spotify pop-up in Los Angeles featured books, statues, and typewritten messages teasing song lyrics from tracks on the new album. Typewriters also appeared in a video posted to Swift's Instagram.

Taylor Swift Laughs While Singing Kanye West-Inspired Song On Eras Tour

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Seattle, WA

It's Ye, hi, he's the problem, it's Ye.

Remember when the most controversial thing about Kanye West was that he crashed Taylor Swift 's acceptance speech at the VMAs? The "Imma let you finish" moment turns 14 this year and wow, just so much has changed in that time. Of course, their careers are in very different places right now. Taylor is currently on her Eras Tour, a monumental undertaking that runs through until the end of 2024. Of course, the current North American leg has been full of headlines as every location attempts to outdo the last with an outlandish gift. It's like Swift is on an NBA retirement tour.

As Swift headed to the Pacific Northwest, Seattle appeared determined to outdo the very bland letter from the state governor Swift had received in Colorado. The Space Needle got some tour-inspired light decorations while the Twitter-famous Washington State Department of Natural Resources named Swift an "honorary geologist." It's a solid B-tier gift for Swift. After all, her next stop - Santa Clara - had temporarily renamed the city Swiftie Clara and made her the honorary mayor for the dates of her two shows. However, Swift did take a moment in Seattle to revisit her feud with Kanye.

Swift Laughs At Forgiveness Line

The moment came while Swift was performing "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things". The song was inspired by a 2016 voicemail Swift received from Kanye. In it, Kanye gave Swift a heads up that his upcoming single, "Famous" included a line about their run-in at the VMAs. Specifically, Kanye had included a line in which he stated that he "made that bitch [Swift] famous." Furthermore, Kanye preceded that line by saying he and Swift should fuck. Safe to say, Swift was not a fan.

Anyway, back to Seattle. Swift is playing the song and gets to the line "Cause forgiveness is the nice thing to do." She breaks out laughing, eliciting an elated reaction from the crowd. She tries to continue the song, but can't compose herself. She gets another big reaction from the crowd as she notes "I can barely say it with a straight face," before continuing to play.

The story behind Taylor Swift’s feud with Scooter Braun will be told on the small screen.

A new two-part documentary, “Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood,” has been ordered by Discovery+ UK, according to Variety .

The streamer has produced other “Vs.” docs in the past like “Johnny vs. Amber,” about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation trial , and “Kim vs. Kanye,” about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce .

Taylor Swift accepts the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California

“Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood” is the working title for the upcoming project.

It will air in the UK and Ireland in June.

Per Variety, the series “will examine the opposing sides of the argument” between rivals Swift, 34, and Braun, 42.

Scooter Braun speaks onstage during Day 1 of Fast Company Innovation Festival on October 23, 2018 in New York City

“One exploring Swift’s side that the sale was conducted without consulting her and that she has since been blocked from buying back her masters, and the other examining Braun’s allegations that Swift refused to negotiate and instead incited a public feud by pitting her fan base against him,” the logline reads.

The doc about Swift “will also explore gender dynamics in the music industry and power of fandom.”

Legal experts, journalists and insiders from both Swift’s and Braun’s camps will participate in the series and “will put forward arguments for and against both parties,” per Variety.

Swift has been in a public spat with Braun ever since he purchased the master recordings  of her first six albums in a $300 million-plus deal.

The “Shake It Off” singer allegedly wasn’t aware of Braun’s business deal at the time, prompting her to declare that she would rerecord her original music.

In June 2019, Swift  said she was “grossed out”  by Braun’s move.

“Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy,”  she wrote in a lengthy post on Tumblr . “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

After keeping quiet for a while, Braun shared his side of the story in an interview with Variety in June 2021.

“I regret and it makes me sad that Taylor had that reaction to the deal,” the music mogul said. “All of what happened has been very confusing and not based on anything factual. I don’t know what story she was told. I asked for her to sit down with me several times, but she refused. I offered to sell her the catalog back and went under NDA, but her team refused.”

He continued: “It all seems very unfortunate. She and I only met briefly three or four times in the past, and all our interactions were really friendly and kind. I find her to be an incredibly talented artist and wish her nothing but the best.”

Swift, who is now signed to Republic Records at Universal Music Group, has rerecorded four of her first six albums.

Fans are waiting for her to release “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” and “Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version).”

“I rather have no regrets, but yo my agent said ‘Yo, say less,'” West raps. “N—-s waiting on the throne, like ‘Hoe, say, ‘Yes.’ I took my shoes out the store, they the new Payless/That’s the new God flow, but I don’t pray less.”

Gambino also debuted a second song featuring Cudi, titled “Warlords.” The track arrives just days after Cudi seemed to throw shade at Gambino on social media. “Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, I’m not here for the beef. Just talk to me. Actually talk to people,” Gambino said on his debut Gilga Radio episode last week.

As for the tour, Gambino has yet to announce dates for it, though he teased arena shows on Gilga Radio. The musician last hit the road in 2019 for the This Is America Tour. The second episode of Gilga radio also featured appearances from Nathan Fielder, Ayo Edebiri, and Eddie Murphy.

“We’re releasing  Atavista , but after that, there’s the final Childish Gambino album — a soundtrack for the fans,” he revealed during a broadcast last weekend,  via Uproxx . His Instagram Live included a teaser for the original soundtrack to  Bando Stone & the New World , which he said will be the final Gambino album.

He had previously said he was retiring the Childish Gambino moniker,  telling HuffPo  during a promo event for  Atlanta  in 2017, “There’s nothing worse than like a third sequel, like a third movie, and we’re like, ‘again?’” he said. “You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift ‘s famous feud with Scooter Braun is getting the documentary treatment. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Discovery+ announced Tuesday (May 7) that its series Vs will spend its next season – titled Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood — exploring how it all went down, from the mogul’s acquisition of the pop star’s masters to the 14-time Grammy winner’s “Taylor’s Version” re-recording projects and every fiery blogpost in between.

Swift also claimed at the time that she was not informed of Braun’s acquisition before it happened — which Borchetta denied — writing in a Tumblr blogpost that she’d only learned of the news “as it was announced to the world.” “All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years,” she’d added of Braun. “This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept.”

Premiering in June, Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood follows previous installments that focused on Kim Kardashian’s divorce from Ye — formerly Kanye West — in 2021, and Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard in 2022.

“Taylor Swift’s dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, taking contract law from board room to social media and into public interest,” Charlotte Reid, vp of commissioning, networks & streaming at WBD U.K. & Ireland, said in a statement. “It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers.”

“I spent 10 years of my life trying rigorously to purchase my masters outright and was then denied that opportunity, and I just don’t want that to happen to another artist if I can help it,” she told Billboard in 2019. “I do want my music to live on. I do want it to be in movies, I do want it to be in commercials. But I only want that if I own it.”

Tom Brady took aim at Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift by dragging the Kansas City Chiefs’ new Swiftie fan base.

“Kansas City, you say your stadium is the loudest,” the retired New England Patriots quarterback said during Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady” on Sunday night.

“It helps when all your fans are 14-year-old girls,” he then joked.

Brady, 46, later addressed the pop star, 34, directly by making a few Swift-centered puns.

“In honor of Tay Tay, let’s take a look at the Chiefs’ eras,” he said, referencing her blockbuster Eras Tour before alluding to one of her songs: “Terrible for 50 years, good for five. Shake it off.”

Kelce, also 34, has helped lead the Chiefs to win three Super Bowls in 2020, 2023 and 2024.

Brady, for his part, won seven Super Bowls during his prolific 23-year career — the most by any player in NFL history.

Swift and Kelce weren’t the football legend’s only targets during his savage roast. He also gave a not-so-nice shout-out to Kim Kardashian, who was booed by audience members earlier in the evening while giving an introduction to the evening’s host, Kevin Hart.

“I know Kim was terrified to be here tonight,” Brady told the boisterous crowd. “Not because of this but because  her kids  are at home with their dad.”

Kardashian and Kanye West — who share daughters North, 10, and Chicago, 6, and sons Saint, 8, and Psalm, 4 — divorced in November 2022 after seven years of marriage.

The “Gold Digger” rapper’s career has since taken a downward spiral after a string of antisemitic incidents and several social media tirades about his co-parenting situation with the Skims founder.

Kardashian, 43, and Brady briefly sparked romance rumors last summer when they were spotted getting flirty at Michael Rubin’s star-studded all-white party celebrating the 4th of July.

Brady and Gisele Bündchen divorced in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage .

The supermodel shares two kids with Brady: son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11. He also has a son, Jack, 16, with ex-partner Bridget Moynahan.

The athlete was roasted for his relationships with both Moynahan , 53, and Bündchen , 43, during the live comedy event.
