En septembre 2016, Johnny Hallyday décide de repartir pour une nouvelle traversée des Etats-Unis à moto. De la Nouvelle-Orléans jusqu'à Los Angeles, le réalisateur François Goetghebeur a filmé ce road trip, et en a tiré ce portrait inédit de Johnny à travers ce qui l'a toujours fait vibrer depuis l'enfance : l'Amérique, les grands espaces, le rock'n'roll, le cinéma, les héros, la liberté. Chaque étape du road trip est l'occasion d'ouvrir un nouveau chapitre de ce fameux rêve américain qui a façonné la légende de la plus grande idole française de tous les temps. Les amis que Johnny a choisis pour l'accompagner faire son ultime road trip sont les mêmes qui étaient présents dans les derniers instants pour visionner le film à ses côtés. Johnny Hallyday : qui l'a accompagné pour son dernier road trip ?

En 2016, un an avant sa mort, Johnny Hallyday, accompagné de plusieurs de ses amis, a fait sa dernière traversée des États-Unis en moto. Un documentaire qui retrace ce voyage est diffusé ce vendredi 11 décembre sur France 3.

Événement ce vendredi 11 décembre à 21 heures sur France 3 avec la diffusion du documentaire sur le dernier voyage de Johnny Hallyday. En 2016, un an avant la mort du chanteur, François Goetghebeur a suivi la star dans sa traversée des États-Unis en moto d'est en ouest, de la Nouvelle-Orléans à Los Angeles. Pour l'occasion, Closer vous propose de découvrir qui sont les personnes qui ont accompagné Johnny dans son dernier road trip.

Ils étaient sept sur leurs motos à tenir compagnie au chanteur qui souffrait déjà un peu du cancer qui aura sa peau un an plus tard. Parmi eux, on retrouve Pierre Billon , son parolier historique. "Jamais je n'aurais imaginé que ce serait le dernier [road trip, ndlr] . On a vu le film de François Goetghebeur ensemble et à l'issue de la projection, il a commencé à planifier le prochain départ. On l'a finalement fait sans lui" , explique-t-il à nos confrères de Télé Star . Maxim Nucci , alias Yodelice, était aussi présent lors de cette traversée des États-Unis.

Trois vieux amis de Johnny Hallyday sont également du voyage

Sébastien Farran , son manager historique et le photographe Dimitri Coste étaient, eux aussi, de la partie. "Les road trips, c'est la réponse à la sollicitation extrême du personnage depuis qu'il a 16 ans : d'un coup, il coupe" , expliquait, au Point en 2019 , celui qui a géré la fin de sa carrière. Les trois derniers à participer à ce road trip étaient Philippe Fatien , Fabrice Ruyet et Claude Bouillon , de vieux amis de Johnny Hallyday. Ce vendredi sur France 3, ils se livreront tous les sept sur leur Johnny Hallyday. Très fatigué à son retour des États-Unis, le chanteur décida donc de passer des examens. Un cancer du poumon au stade 4 sera alors décélé. Johnny mourra un peu plus d'un an après ce voyage...

Johnny Hallyday: un documentaire sur son dernier road-trip prévu pour la fin de l'année

Un documentaire sur Johnny Hallyday est en préparation. Il évoquera son dernier road-trip à travers les États-Unis , effectué en 2016 avec des amis, un an avant sa mort. La sortie est attendue pour la fin d'année. On ignore, pour l'instant, s'il sortira au cinéma ou directement en DVD.

L'équipe du rockeur travaille sur ce projet depuis des années. En 2018, son ancien manager Sébastien Farran en avait parlé à BFMTV , à l'occasion de la sortie de son album posthume Mon Pays c'est l'amour :

"Johnny était très attaché à ce qu'on montre les images de ce trip. Je crois qu'il avait réuni l'ensemble des gens avec qui il avait vraiment envie d'évoluer, et je pense qu'on va travailler là-dessus."

Selon nos informations, le documentaire sera en noir et blanc. Le montage est assuré par François Goetghebeur, réalisateur spécialisé dans la musique et des captations de spectacles. C'est lui qui avait signé le clip de J'en parlerai au diable , dans lequel apparaissaient déjà des images de ce voyage sur la mythique route 66.

Le compositeur et ami proche de Johnny, Pierre Billon, a publié en 2019 un livre intitulé Road-Trip. Johnny Hallyday on the road , fruit de ses voyages dans l'Ouest américain au côté du chanteur.

Should Cavs consider upside swing on fast-rising Johnny Furphy with No 20 pick in 2024 NBA Draft?

C LEVELAND, Ohio — About three months ago, as the Cavs were headed for a quick two-game road trip in Minnesota and Miami, one of their executives withstood nightmarish travel delays and made it to Salt Lake City in time for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

There were a few prospects he wanted to see in person. Arizona’s Pelle Larsson and Dayton’s DaRon Holmes were in that same region. But the exhausting trek was more about someone else:

Fast-rising Kansas swingman Johnny Furphy.

In the Jayhawks’ narrow opening round win over Samford — a game in which leading scorer and possible first-round pick Kevin McCullar Jr. didn’t play because of a knee injury — the baby-faced Furphy stepped up, pouring in 16 points, his second-highest scoring output of his college career, on 5 of 9 shooting and 2 of 5 from 3-point range to go with eight rebounds and three assists in 35 impactful minutes.

One standout tournament performance doesn’t significantly alter a team’s view. It’s only part of the evaluation process. But Furphy was already a front-office favorite — a long two-way wing with a reliable shooting stroke, enough athleticism to finish in half court and transition, a high basketball IQ and untapped potential. That weekend in Utah helped validate many of the things the Cavs already believed.

If he’s still on the board, Furphy will — and should — get a long look.

A few weeks ago, the young swingman was asked to come up with an NBA comparison for his playing style. Furphy’s response? Brooklyn’s Cam Johnson — a player the Cavs loved in the 2019 draft, worked out during the pre-draft process and were planning to use one of their selections on before he skyrocketed into the lottery.

There are some similarities. Some transferable traits.

Furphy probably isn’t ready yet. He was used primarily as a spot-up shooter and cutter at talent-rich Kansas, unable to showcase any semblance of an off-the-dribble or shot-creation game. He struggled at times with quicker guards and his slender frame — listed at 6-foot-8 and 189 pounds — leads to questions about possibly getting outmuscled. He also did not test well athletically at the combine — although film from his freshman year shows enough bounce.

A late addition to the Kansas roster, Furphy spent his first few months getting acclimated to a new country, coming from Australia and moving into a bigger spotlight thanks to a late growth spurt and some impressive showings during a summer basketball tour as a member of Australia’s Centre for Excellence.

Around this time a year ago, he had one scholarship offer from Sacramento State, hardly a basketball powerhouse. When Cavs general manager Mike Gansey flew to the Maui Invitational earlier in November, Furphy was coming off the bench in a low-minute role, with no thoughts of him being a one-and-done.

It’s been a whirlwind year and meteoric rise. He’s also only 19 years old. Thirty-three games in college. Nineteen as a starter.

But the Cavs can be patient. They don’t need this 20th pick to make an immediate impact. They are coming off back-to-back playoff appearances. They advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals without LeBron James for the first time in more than 30 years. Sam Merrill and Craig Porter Jr. couldn’t find consistent minutes. Barring significant — and unexpected — roster changes, the Cavs’ starting lineup is clear and the top guys in the rotation are easily identifiable.

In many ways, Wednesday’s first-round selection is a luxury — an opportunity to add a young, cost-controlled player on a team-friendly contract who can provide depth and an element of roster flexibility. Or perhaps become a future trade asset.

Cleveland could go a few different directions. It could target any position or age demographic. That’s why it has a prospect pool of 10-12 names in the 20-range.

Sources say Furphy, who came to Cleveland Clinic Courts for a pre-draft workout, is one. And rightfully so.

His modest stats don’t scream first-round pick.

He averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 49.6% from the field, 36.5% on 3-pointers and 78.5% from the free-throw line in Big 12 games. Getting a bigger opportunity and becoming a starter in late January, Furphy saw his numbers increase, boosting his points and rebounds while shooting better from beyond the arc.

But this isn’t about today’s version of Furphy. It’s about who he could one day become under the tutelage of new coach Kenny Atkinson, who edged out James Borrego in part because of his player-development history and the importance of that aspect to Cleveland’s future. There are plenty of reasons to believe Furphy’s best basketball is ahead.

Who isn’t looking for a player with his skill set? It’s the most prized — and expensive — archetype. It’s the kind worth gambling on. The combination of physical tools, shooting ability and youth makes him a good enough bet to possibly become a starter-quality, two-way wing.

Can’t ask for more than that late in the first round.
