Coleman Journeymaster Deluxe Air XL BlackOut Low Drive-away Awning 2024

The Coleman Journeymaster DLX Air XL Low Awning will provide additional living and sleeping space. The awning uses FastPitch Air Technology to ensure a quick and hassle free set up. The spacious BlackOut® bedrooms provide a restful place to sleep for up to 4 people. The front facing awning is positioned the same way your camper van is facing helping you give added privacy and a smaller overall pitch size.

The Journeymaster DLX Air XL Low offers standing head height and is designed to attach to vehicles that are 180 - 210cm in height. The Kador length for the Journeymaster is 270cm. The Coleman FastPitch frame creates a strong and rigid structure and is inflated via the Coleman pump which is supplied.

Our Opinion:-

The Journeymaster Deluxe Air awning is designed to fit campervans with an attachment height 180 to 210cm. Available in 3 sizes. The M & L sizes are supplied with a 2-berth inner tent and the XL models with a 4-berth inner tent. The Awnings feature Coleman's BlackOut bedroom as standard. The Blackout Bedrooms block out up to 99% of daylight, helping you and your family get a longer, more restful sleep, whatever time you choose to go to bed or get up in the morning. Not only do they help reduce the light, but they also help to make the temperature up to 5°C cooler on a warm day and 4°C warmer during the night.

The  Journeymaster Deluxe Air is an Air frame awning for easy pitching and features 150d Polyester flysheet with a Hydrostatic head of 6000mm.

Another Coleman feature we like is the doorway and inner tent zips all have a safety park position. the zips close to the same point. So in the event you need to exit the tent in an emergency you will always know the location of the zip pullers.

The Journeymaster Deluxe Air is supplied with Storm straps as standard, Large PVC windows are located throughout the awning and have zip up curtains for privacy. Low and High-level ventilation points help to increase airflow and reduce condensation.

The  Journeymaster Deluxe Air is a side on awning so pitches lengthways along your van. This makes it campsite friendly. It features a nice sized front porch to give protection from the elements and provide a sheltered cooking of lounging area.

The  Journeymaster Deluxe Air range is going to be popular as the Inner tents come as standard and feature Coleman's BlackOut technology.

  What the manufacturer says:-

  Supported by five FastPitch™ Air inflatable poles, this drive away awning is both wind resistant and easy to pitch. A 6000mm hydrostatic head provides excellent weather resistance while ample guy lines and four storm straps ensure it is securely anchored. 

  Connection to the camper van can be achieved by multiple methods including a standard 6mm beaded strip compatible with most drive away awning kits, nylon loops and a pole sleeve allow attachment via a pole and clamp kit and two additional straps enable pegging over the top of the vehicle (drive away awning pole and clamp kits not included). The camper van connecting tunnel also features a side door for convenient access.

  An extended porch provides additional living space with ample weather protection when entering the structure and features a drop-down doorway reducing trip hazards.

  Inside the spacious living area large windows feature zipped window shades ensuring flexible levels of privacy. High and low ventilation is provided at the sides and rear of the tent to aid temperature control and reduce condensation.

  The attached bedrooms sleep four people, arwe extra-large and will comfortably fit larger airbeds. The bedrooms include a Polyester floor for a more comfortable feel and feature BlackOut Bedroom® technology blocking daylight, reducing the temperature during the day and increasing it at night, ensuring a more restful sleep.

  Additional features include zipped cable entry points in the living area and bedroom for powered accessories together with multiple lantern attachment points.

A Statement from Coleman

This awning has been tested by our Quality Control team who detected a potential fading issue on the black fabric strip around the bottom of the fly sheet. This can discolour over time from exposure to sunlight to a brown colour. It will still perform to the same high standards. So you can have fun using it, save it from landfill and make a great saving.

“Rigorous testing has shown that under continuous UV exposure (400~800nm) fading sometimes occurred. The strength, waterproofness and longevity of the fabric is not affected. The issue may not occur at all (depending on the strength, length, and direction of UV exposure).”

Quick and easy to set up, this fully inflatable awning is designed to fit vehicles between 180cm to 210cm. Simply attach the Coleman Journeymaster Awning to your van, peg out and inflate the beams with the pump provided, it’s that easy. Supported by FastPitch Air inflatable poles, this drive away awning is both wind resistant and easy to pitch. A 6000mm hydrostatic head provides excellent weather resistance and Coleman’s UVGuard with a SPF50 protects you and your family from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. The pre-attached 6mm beaded strip allows the connecting tunnel to attach to a camper van's awning rail directly or by most removeable drive away awning kits (removeable drive away awning kit not included). In addition, throw over straps allow attachment by pegging on the opposite side of the vehicle. The spacious camper van connecting tunnel has an adjustable camper van height between 1.8 and 2.10 meters and provides additional storage space as well as protection from the weather when passing to and from the van. An additional side door on the connecting tunnel provides a further entry point to the awning. The extended porch provides additional living space with ample weather protection when entering the structure and features a drop-down doorway reducing trip hazards. Inside the spacious living area large windows feature zipped window shades ensuring flexible levels of privacy. High and low ventilation is provided at the front and sides of the living area as well as at the rear of the awning to aid temperature control and reduce condensation. The attached bedrooms sleep four people, are extra-large and comfortably fit larger airbeds. The bedrooms include a Polyester floor for a more comfortable feel and feature BlackOut Bedroom technology blocking daylight, reducing the temperature during the day and increasing it at night, ensuring a more restful sleep. Additional features include zipped cable entry points in the living area and bedroom for powered accessories together with multiple lantern attachment points.

Saint Petersburg Metro

Convenient, efficient and beautiful: the St Petersburg Metro is not only a great way to get around the city, it's also a living museum of Soviet art and architecture .

A little bit of history

Plans to build the St Petersburg Metro began in 1899 - although not for lack of a number of inventors proposing the idea to the Tsar from 1820 onwards - but the outbreak of World War I followed by the 1917 Russian Revolution and then the Second World War seriously delayed construction .

Having suffered the impact of the events of early 20th century history in St Petersburg , the metro network was finally opened in 1955. Since then, it has continued expanding, currently having 5 lines (with 4 more planned) and 72 stations (126 planned), and it's the  deepest metro network in the world , with Admiralteyskaya being the deepest station at over 280 feet (86 metres) below ground.

Operating times & frequency

The St Petersburg Metro operates every day of the week between 5:45 am and 12:30 am . Trains run about every 2 or 4 minutes, although frequency varies considerably depending on the line and time of day.

Ticket prices

A single ticket costs ₽ 60 ( US$ 0.70) :  ask for "adin proyezd" and you will be given a " zheton " (token) to put in the machine. If you are going to use the metro several times during your trip, it's worth buying a  Podorozhnik top up smart card  which costs 60 RUB and works out at around ₽ 41 ( US$ 0.40) per journey - plus you won't have to wait in line every time you want to use the metro.

The metro system has signs in English, and there are ticket machines in certain stations, so you should hopefully be able to communicate well enough to buy your tickets!

Metro lines

The St Petersburg metro covers a total length of 77 miles (124 km) divided into 72 stations. In each of our guides to the city's main monuments and attractions , we've included the most convenient metro station. The five different lines are like a living museum that tells the story of St Petersburg.

Line 1, inaugurated in 1955, is the oldest: its grand, elaborately decorated stations (particularly Avtovo and Narvskaya) are telling that it was planned during the Stalin era. Line 2 was only opened six years later, but you can see the shift in politics and ideology that had taken place in the meantime to functionality over beauty and decoration .

The rest of the metro lines follow a more modern and functional look, although a number of the more striking stations are home to curious decorations influenced by themes as varied as Communism, Ancient Greece and the sea .
