The Reputation Stadium Tour: Surprise Songs and Guests

Camila-Taylor-Charlie

The surprise songs, sometimes called secret songs or b-stage songs, they’ve become a hallmark of every Taylor Swift tour concert. It’s the time in which the Sparkly Dressed picks up the Sparkly Guitar (Sparkly Green in this era) and brings out a song from the vault. It’s a big vault, but somehow T-Swizzle has rummaged deep and brought some old cuts we thought we’d never hear again.

The surprise guests were rare but still amazing. Let’s not forget the amazing opening acts of Camila Cabello and Charli XCX.

The 1989 World Tour is shook...

Taylor Swift tours may be most famous for their inspirational speeches and chart-topping hits but in recent years they've become notorious for something else: celebrity guests.

📸 Follow us on instagram at instagram.com/popbuzz 📸

It all started on the Speak Now World Tour when Taylor invited the likes of Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber to perform with her and since then the impromptu duets have quickly become a Taylor staple. The Red Tour saw the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' hitmaker sing with everyone from Ed Sheeran to Jennifer Lopez and on the 1989 World Tour we were treated to surprise appearances from stars including Justin Timberlake, Serena Williams, Mick Jagger, Julia Roberts and Mary J. Blige.

Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello & Charli XCX

The celebrity cameos became so notorious that they resulted in this incredible parody.

PLEASE WELCOME TO THE STAGE...

All jokes aside though, Swifties and casual Taylor fans alike are always eager to find out which budding young stars and iconic legends will be joining the 'Blank Space' popstar on stage and The Reputation Stadium Tour is no different.

Here all of the infamous guests that have joined Taylor on her latest world tour so far.

Hayley Kiyoko

UM @hayleykiyoko THAT WAS INSANE!! Thank you so much for coming to surprise the crowd tonight at @gillettestadium - THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!! So stoked this was your first stadium performance, and you absolutely killed it 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on Jul 26, 2018 at 10:24pm PDT

Taylor Swift has long been supportive of Hayley Kiyoko. The 'Delicate' hitmaker often features Hayley's music in her Spotify playlists and last night the rising superstar joined Taylor on stage in Foxborough, Massachusetts to sing her critically acclaimed 2018 hit 'Curious' together. Amazing.

Robbie Williams

Still processing how special last night was, thank you London for two incredible nights at Wembley Stadium. I’ll NEVER forget the sound of the crowd when Robbie Williams showed up to sing Angels, that was UNREAL!! Thank you to Robbie, that was such a spectacular moment and it meant so much to so many people, including me. 😇😇😇 @robbiewilliams 📷 @GarethCattermole @hogieaaa @GettyEntertainment A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on Jun 24, 2018 at 7:26am PDT

Robbie Williams? At a Taylor Swift gig? Who would have thought. It's no secret that Robbie Williams is a household name in the UK but his success never ever transferred properly to the US. The fact that Taylor knows and loves his music is crazy though. The two performed 'Angels' together at Taylor's second Reputation show in London and Robbie even wore a Taylor Swift t-shirt.

Niall Horan

Soundcheck at Wembley Stadium with this guy @niallhoran THANK YOU for surprising the crowd tonight!!! 📷 @GarethCattermole @hogieaaa @GettyEntertainment A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on Jun 22, 2018 at 5:10pm PDT

Taylor and Niall have always had kind words to say about each other before but have never actually shared a stage. When Taylor performed in London though that changed. The two superstars wowed Wembley with a surprise rendition of Niall's monster hit single 'Slow Hands'. Incredible.

Selena Gomez

To the person I could call at any time of day, who has been there no matter what... you absolutely KILLED IT tonight and everyone was so excited to see you. I love you, and 60,000 people at the Rose Bowl loved you too. @selenagomez 📷: @Polkimaging @GettyEntertainment A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on May 20, 2018 at 2:15am PDT
I mean, I could but why would I want to? @selenagomez A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on May 20, 2018 at 2:18am PDT

Selena and Taylor have been BFFs for years so it's no surprise that the 'Bad Liar' singer has taken part in multiple Taylor Swift tours. On the Speak Now World Tour they performed 'Who Says', on the 1989 World Tour they performed 'Good for You' and now they've joined forces to sing 'Hands to Myself' in Pasedena. Not only that but Taylor also shared an adorable Instagram post about their friendship mere hours later. No. We're not crying. You are.

Troye Sivan

My my my... @troyesivan 📷: @Polkimaging @GettyEntertainment A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on May 20, 2018 at 2:20am PDT
Troye absolutely owned the Rose Bowl 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 @troyesivan thank you so much for coming!!! A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on May 20, 2018 at 2:22am PDT

Troye and Taylor have always stanned each other from afar on Twitter so it's a joy to see them finally collaborate on stage in Pasedena. Not only did they wow the crowd with an impeccable rendition of 'My My My!' complete with superstar strutting but they also revealed the release date of Troye's highly anticipated sophomore album Bloom . The LP is dropping August 31st and features a duet with Ariana Grande called 'Dance to This'. We cannot wait.

Shawn Mendes

Thank you @shawnmendes for surprising the Rose Bowl crowd tonight. YOU ARE THE GREATEST and I’m obsessed with everything I’ve heard from your new album. My 1989 tourmate came back!!!! 📷: @KevinMazur and @GettyEntertainment A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on May 18, 2018 at 11:19pm PDT
Thank you @shawnmendes and the 60,000 people who came to the Rose Bowl show tonight! YOU WERE MAGICAL 🌹 A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on May 19, 2018 at 1:17am PDT

Shawn and Taylor have a long history together. Shawn opened for Taylor on the 1989 World Tour and the two have often spoken about how much they admire each other so a Reputation guest spot was inevitable. Shawn joined Taylor in Pasadena for a rousing rendition of 'There's Nothing Holding Me Back'. To make things even more exciting, Taylor teased that she's heard some of Shawn's new album and she's "obsessed" with it.

Camila Cabelllo

what was going through my mind at this moment : I remembered when i came to school one day (I think I was in 9th grade but could be wrong) and my friend Mariana had just seen Taylor on the speak now tour and told me she touched her hand and i was like when am I ever gonna be able to afford to go to a Taylor swift concert and touch her hand during speak now, and I just had a moment of "if you would've told me then what was gonna happen I wouldn't have believed it" and I had such an intense gratitude for everything I'm experiencing right now. I love you @taylorswift and @charli_xcx A post shared by camila (@camila_cabello) on May 9, 2018 at 2:49pm PDT

Camila has been close friends with Taylor Swift ever since her Fifth Harmony days (Taylor even hosted an epic 18th birthday party for her) so it only seems fitting that Camila is now opening for Taylor on her sold out stadium tour. As well as performing her hit singles ('Never Be the Same', 'Havana') to warm up Taylor's crowd, Camila has also joined Taylor on multiple nights to perform 'Shake It Off' with Charli XCX too.

omg guys this place is fucking huge!!!!!!! fingers crossed i don’t fall over on stage/do something dumb 🤞🏽💕 also can’t wait to watch these 2 kill it tonight 💗✨ i’ll be out in the crowd ready to party with u guys after my show!!! I play at 7pm!! let’s gooo Arizona!!!! 💕💜 A post shared by CHARLI XCX (@charli_xcx) on May 8, 2018 at 5:03pm PDT

Speaking of Charli , she is also one of Taylor Swift's supporting acts on The Reputation Stadium Tour. Charli was one of the special guests on the 1989 World Tour (the two stars performed 'Boom Clap' together) and now she is wowing Swifties night after night with all of her hits from 'Fancy' to 'Boys'. Oh and as mentioned she is also every now and then performing 'Shake It Off' with Camila and Taylor as well.

Taylor, touring on the back of her 2017 album of the same name, loves to bring pals on stage to surprise the crowds. Whether you melted into the floor of the Rose Bowl with your pals when Selena Gomez came out to sing "Hands to Myself," or watched the YouTube videos of Taylor and Hayley Kiyoko over and over again, vote up the surprise guest + Taylor performances that were the all around best and most enjoyable to watch.

Taylor Swift  is officially the queen of surprises...surprise guests that is!

The 28-year-old singer  can't stop bringing her friends and fellow musicians out to sing with her during her Reputation Tour   and judging from the fans' screams, they don't mind at all.

We know this is just one of the reasons why the show is up for Concert Tour of 2018 at the E! People's Choice Awards . Swift is also a finalist for Female Artist of 2018 and Social Celebrity of 2018, so clearly she's getting a lot of love from her fans . Perhaps it's because she shows them lots of love in return via her surprise on-stage collaborations!

Throughout this tour, there has been no shortage of stars ready to join Swift on stage and they've all been big pulls.

For starters, the "Look What You Made Me Do" singer always had her two openers, Camila Cabello and Charlie XCX , ready in the wings to hop on stage and perform "Shake It Off" with the blonde beauty.

The legendary songwriter also had a few of her other pals including, Selena Gomez , Shawn Mendes , and  Troye Sivan  all grace the stage to sing their hits with her during the artist's Los Angeles tour stops.

During another performance this year, Swift decided to return to her country roots and brought out two of country music's biggest names to help her do it. She enlisted  Tim McGraw  and  Faith Hill  to help her sing her debut single, "Tim McGraw" in Nashville and it was flawless.

Maren Morris  and  Sugarland  took the stage to surprise audiences in Texas during the final two nights of the  Reputation Tour's U.S. leg  and gave country and pop fans something to sing along to.

Check all the best of Swift's special guests on this tour thus far below and don't miss the People's Choice Awards airing live on E! next month.

On December 13, 2018, Taylor thanked everyone for her birthday wishes on Instagram and also announced that there was going to be a tour movie for the Reputation Stadium Tour that would be released on New Year's Eve, titled Taylor Swift: reputation Stadium Tour . It was filmed at the last Dallas/Arlington show, which was the final US leg date. It featured the surprise song " All Too Well ".

Taylor Swift designed her own stage, complete with an elevator, and a rapid changing room for her eight costumes.

The main screen was 110 feet tall and and made of 12 columns and 1,5OO LED tiles that split into 49 individual screens that moved depending on the song. The stage design is an X shape and it also features a B & C Stage that Taylor accessed with the floating constellation and snake gondolas during " Delicate " and the " Bad Blood "/" Should've Said No " mashup. The band played right behind the main screen and during certain parts of the show, the screen opened and the audience could see them.

During " Look What You Made Me Do ", there was a giant inflatable snake named Karyn on the stage as well as smaller inflatable snakes on the B & C Stage and for the show encore, a water fountain was installed on stage. There were also fire, smoke and fireworks effects throughout the show from the stage. The LED bracelets distributed to the attendees were interactive with the songs and stage visuals.

Taylor Swift certainly knows how to roll out the red carpet when it comes to her tours. When she was on the road for 1989  back in 2015, John Legend , Justin Timberlake , Mick Jagger , and Fifth Harmony were just a handful of the major artists she brought out along the way, and her  Reputation outing  is shaping up to be no different.

Taylor Swift and Brendon Urie

While many details surrounding Taylor Swift ’s feverishly anticipated Eras Tour remain obscured just days before Friday’s monstrous kickoff in Arizona, there’s at least one aspect fans should count on: There will be special guests.

Since the Speak Now Tour in 2011, Swift has established herself as the ultimate “sharing is caring” mega-headliner, welcoming a long list of artists — newcomers and icons alike — to her sprawling stages. The guest list from her 1989 tour alone was well over three dozen acts long.

But who’s most likely to appear over the next few months? As Swift has made new friends, forged new collaborations and released a heaping pile of music since the Reputation Tour in 2018 (her last roadshow), the possibilities for surprise guests are nearly endless.

We can still speculate, however! These are our best guesses for who’ll be waiting in the wings — and in which cities some may pop up — broken down into three categories:

Should Happen: The duets that feel most likely and maintain some precedent or clear link, where Swift would be remiss to not make it happen.

Could Happen: Educated guesses, but still slightly wishful thinking — based on recent trends, friendships, influences and past encounters, even if there isn’t exactly precedent.

Break the Internet Moments: The once-in-a-lifetime sort of pairings with fellow icons, which would go instantly viral and help to define the Eras Tour as the unforgettable pop culture phenomenon it’s likely to become regardless.

NOTE: Our picks do not include any scheduled Eras Tour openers, as those features feel a bit too obvious. And we’ve only selected musicians here, though we wouldn’t mind seeing Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds trot out for a dance party.

Lana Del Rey

Why It Should Happen : How Swift and Del Rey have never shared a stage is rather absurd — or at least, a statistical anomaly at this point. But their long-awaited duet should finally go down this year, as Del Rey is featured as a performer and co-writer on Midnights’ sultry slow-burn “Snow on the Beach.” We’d love to see the two pals — pillars of the Jack Antonoff superfriends club — play the new song, then fade into something from Del Rey: “Summertime Sadness” or “Young and Beautiful” would be epic, sure, but some smoldering piece of her new opus “A&W” might be more likely. And considering Del Rey’s classic Hollywood aesthetic, this would have to happen at one of the California shows, right? Probably!

Brendon Urie

Why It Should Happen : Like it or not, Swifties, there’s a good chance Swift’s less-than-beloved Lover lead single “ME!” is on tap for this tour, and when she plays the sprawling pop jam just outside Las Vegas later this month, we’re betting on Panic! At the Disco frontman (and Vegas native) Brendon Urie popping up to sing his verse. It’ll be like the 2019 Billboard Music Awards all over again — though Urie probably won’t descend from the sky on a wire. If he sticks around for an emo-tastic “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” all will be forgiven.

Bon Iver

Why It Should Happen : Fans surely recall Swift surprising a Bon Iver crowd in London last October when she emerged to perform “Exile,” her cinematic duet with Justin Vernon off 2020’s Folklore, live for the first time. Well, it’s time Vernon returned the favor. Those doleful piano plinks will reveal what’s to come — maybe in Minneapolis, as Vernon’s Wisconsin home isn’t far.

Matt Healy of The 1975

Why It Should Happen : Again, Swifties have committed to memory Taylor as a surprise guest in January, once more in London, shocking an audience during a performance by The 1975. She jammed out the band’s early single “The City” and then premiered her latest smash “Anti-Hero” live (for the first time!) to manic cheers. Judging by the shrieks in the clips, it sure sounds like there’s plenty of fan overlap, so how about Matty Healy saunters out and they either redo “The City” or something bigger and brighter, like “The Sound” or “Chocolate”? Fans on both sides of the pond would be eternally jealous.

Why It Should Happen : This one’s a given, especially as Sheeran will be criss-crossing the U.S. at the same time, touring many of the same stadiums. Surely there will be a day off where Ed’s close enough to swing by for a duet with his old pal Taylor. We’d love to see them break out “Run,” the previously unreleased tune brought back from the Red (Taylor’s Version) vault in 2021, which they’ve never performed publicly before. Swifties and Sheerios unite to manifest this moment! (Though we’d take an “Everything Has Changed” throwback, too.)

Selena Gomez

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez

Why It Should Happen : Another no-brainer. They’re best friends, of course, and Gomez was a special guest on the Reputation, 1989 and Speak Now tours. And as Selena hasn’t toured on her two most recent albums, this would be a real thrill for fans — especially if they did it in Gomez’s home state of Texas. Keep an eye out, Arlington attendees! What would they sing? How about a “Lose You to Love Me” team-up? Chills!

Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner

Why It Should Happen : Who else has been dying for a recreation of Swift’s ethereal and folksy 2021 Grammys medley, where she performed snippets of “Cardigan” and “August” off Folklore (which won Album of the Year that night) and “Willow” off Evermore ? Well, how about an expansion on the theme, with collaborators Antonoff and Dessner strolling out for an acoustic trio mini-set, with pieces of all those songs plus some newbies: We’re talking “August,” “Betty,” “Champagne Problems” … oh the cottage-core calamity! MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey would make sense here as Antonoff lives in New York and is a prideful Jersey guy.

Olivia Rodrigo

Why It Could Happen : Didn’t it feel for a while like Rodrigo, whose heartsleeve songwriting style is so heavily influenced by Swift, was destined to open Taylor’s next tour? Well, that didn’t happen, but Olivia is still due for a premiere duet on stage with Swift. If they were to sing one of Taylor’s tunes together, the possibilities are endless as Rodrigo has posted loads of clips of her scream-singing to “…Ready For It,” “Better than Revenge,” “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and more. But she’d surely stay out for a monster singalong to “Driver’s License” or rocking rendition of “Good 4 U” — give ‘em both an electric guitar!

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter

Why It Could Happen : Carpenter is known as a ride-or-die Swiftie — she was covering “Picture to Burn ” on YouTube when she was 10 years old. Now that the ex-Disney star and Taylor are buddies in real life — note the loving head pat at the American Music Awards last fall — it feels like a matter of time until Carpenter trots out to play her new hit “Nonsense.” Maybe she comes out at the Philly show; she’s from nearby Bucks County, not so far from Swift’s childhood home.

Lizzy McAlpine

Why It Could Happen : Swift has always been a benevolent headliner, giving space for new and breakthrough artists to open her shows — and the Eras Tour will be no different, with new “sad girl” stars Phoebe Bridgers and Gracie Abrams appearing on multiple dates. Who’s missing from that equation, you ask? It’s the ascendant singer-songwriter Lizzy McAlpine, whose viral smash “Ceilings” has commandeered TikTok for the last two months. As we suspect fan overlap between Lizzy and Taylor is sizable, a mammoth duet — maybe with Taylor pretending to do the TikTok trend, running manically across the stage as she sings — would be very cool. Again, Philadelphia might be the spot, as McAlpine hails from the Philly suburbs.

Why It Could Happen : We know from this year’s Grammy afterparty photos and Fletcher’s own account that Swift and the new queer-pop favorite have hung out quite a bunch, and Swift is an admirer of Fletcher’s songwriting style. So it would be extremely cool to see Fletcher, a Jersey girl, pop up at MetLife Stadium for a song. Her anthemic new bangers “Becky’s so Hot” or “Her Body Is Bible” would be incredible in the stadium setting.

Kelsea Ballerini

Why It Could Happen : “I wish she was my sister.” That was Swift on the 1989 tour in 2015, introducing Ballerini to the Nashville crowd for a surprise appearance and performance of Kelsea’s “Love Me Like You Mean It.” As the duo, who are cut from much of the same country-pop cloth, have remained friends — note those same Grammys afterparty pics — it could be time for a reunion, perhaps in Nashville again. Something from Ballerini’s new EP Rolling Up the Welcome Mat would make sense; “Mountain With a View” certainly has a Swift Red- era heartbreak vibe.

Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton

Why It Could Happen : Since Taylor went through all the trouble of making a high-budget music video for “I Bet You Think About Me,” you better believe she’ll be playing the Red (Taylor’s Version) vault track at some point on this tour. And it would make sense to get the song’s featured vocalist Stapleton to come out for a smoky live collaboration. Stapleton could stick around for “Tennessee Whiskey,” too. Again, Nashville would make sense, though her Cincinnati dates are just over the border from Stapleton’s native Kentucky.

Nicki Minaj

Why It Could Happen : The Taylor-Nicki bond runs deep: Fans will recall the pair opening the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards together , and Swift singing along to “Super Bass” at the 2022 ceremony. But how about when Taylor brought Nicki out in Los Angeles in 2011 on the Speak Now Tour, where they performed the smash side by side? We love a good Taylor hip-hop moment and we’re ready for a reunion. The two are clearly still buddies — they were spotted together at the VMAs afterparty in August — so let’s make it happen!

Paul McCartney

Why It Would Break the Internet : Let’s be real: The Eras Tour will likely expand to include at least one London show at some point, considering all of Swift’s tours have played the city and she now spends loads of time there with British beau Joe Alwyn. And when Taylor crosses the pond, we’re betting she brings out Paul McCartney. Why? Because Sir Paul planned to bring Swift out during 2020’s Glastonbury festival to play “Shake It Off” — but the pandemic robbed us of that glorious moment. So it’s time the pair resolved some unfinished business.

Carole King

Carole King and Taylor Swift

Why It Would Break the Internet : When Swift inducted King into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, she called the legend “the greatest songwriter of all time,” before performing an impassioned solo rendition of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.” King later called Swift her “professional granddaughter.” So how cool would it be if King emerged from retirement for a duet on the same ballad? All those patient moms in the crowd would love it!

Why It Would Break the Internet : If you caught the MTV Video Music Awards last August — you know, the ceremony where Swift announced Midnights — you may recall Taylor dancing and singing along to BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom,” proving her fandom of the K-Pop powerhouse. What if she took it a step further, and welcomed Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé to the stage to sing “Pink Venom” together? One of the nights at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles would be fitting, considering the group is headlining Coachella this spring — let’s hope they stick around for an other-worldly moment. If Taylor officially enters K-Pop standom, it’s all over.

Miley Cyrus

Why It Would Break the Internet : Taylor and Miley haven’t sung live together since the 2009 Grammy Awards. So it sounds like it’s time for a reunion! It’d be infinitely cool for Cyrus to pop up in Nashville or L.A. or her native Texas to see them return to their “Fifteen” Fearless duet nearly 15 years later. Then Cyrus would of course break into “Flowers,” the biggest song of 2023 so far, as fans belt along in elation. Any perceived beef about Cyrus not wanting to be Swift’s “squad” is long in the rearview.

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton

Why It Would Break the Internet : If there’s any city where Swift is most likely to have a guest every night, it has to be Nashville. And what better way to commemorate her veritable homecoming than by welcoming the city’s Queen to the stage for their first-ever duet? This is another one: How have Taylor and Dolly never publicly sang together? Anyway, as Miley seems to have “Jolene” on lock, Dolly taking the stage for “9 to 5” or a wildly impassioned “I Will Always Love You” would rock Nissan Stadium to its core and send country music fans into a coma.

Why It Would Break the Internet : Imagine Swift is in the Lover segment of her show and she begins the album’s playful opening track “I Forgot That You Existed.” The first verse reaches the line “In my feelings more than Drake, so yeah” — and the song cuts off. A second later, the intro to “In My Feelings” itself begins to bump and Drake trots out. “Kiki, do you love me?” It’s Lover meets Loverboy bedlam, with fans finally understanding why Drizzy posted a throwback photo of him and Taylor on social media last spring. It wasn’t a new collaboration, it was this moment all along!

Harry Styles

Why It Would Break the Internet : We’re basically writing fan fiction at this point — but after Swift stood up to support Styles as he accepted his Album of the Year Grammy Award last month, it’s not so farfetched that the two could reconvene for a moment on stage. Just freaking picture it: Taylor is finishing her 1989 electro-banger “Out of the Woods,” a track purportedly about Styles, and Harry ambles out to duet on the final verse. Then they do “As It Was” together and 60,000 lives are changed forever. Maybe they pull this off at one of the MetLife Stadium shows — her defacto New York City gigs, where Styles seems to perform more than Billy Joel.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Reputation Era via Taylor Swift Productions and Silent House Productions

The Eras Tour Was Taylor Swift’s Biggest Outing Yet, But It Was Far From Her First

Image of Lauren Coates

City by city, song by song, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has quickly become of the highest-grossing (and buzziest) tours in music history. Spanning the entire length of Swift’s discography, Taylor honors each of her previous musical/aesthetic “eras” with a dedicated section on her setlist, allowing fans to relive the feeling of each album, if only for a moment.

But while the Eras Tour brings each album together on one mega-tour, it’s hardly the first time Taylor has been around, or even the first time she’s embarked on a stadium tour. From humble beginnings to sold-out shows across the globe, here’s a breakdown of all of Taylor Swift’s tours, in chronological order.

Fearless Tour

As most Swifties know, Taylor’s first album was a self-titled country pop record with singles like “Teardrops on My Guitar,” “Our Song,” and “Tim McGraw.” Taylor did tour during the release of Taylor Swift, but not as a headliner—she supported her first album by performing as an opening act for larger artists at the time like Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, and Keith Urban.

But while Taylor Swift was her first album, it wasn’t her first tour—that honor belongs to the Fearless Tour, which kicked off in April 2009 and ran through July 2010. The tour played a total of 105 shows (mostly across North America) including limited stops in Asia, Europe, and Australia. Kellie Pickler joined Taylor as an opening act, with artists like then-boyfriend John Mayer, Katy Perry, and Faith Hill appearing at certain performances as surprise guests. Though the tour didn’t get a concert film, Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless was released as a 3-episode docuseries, documenting the behind-the-scenes of the tour.

Speak Now World Tour

Taylor’s first proper world tour, the Speak Now World Tour , began in February 2011 and featured a total of 111 performances, including seven in Asia and 12 in Europe. In addition to being her first world tour, Speak Now was also Taylor’s first stadium tour and featured more extensive set pieces, choreography, and costuming than the Fearless tour. Speak Now ‘s openers included NeedToBreathe, Hunter Hayes, and Hot Chelle Rae, and it was the first Taylor tour attended by yours truly. A concert film, Taylor Swift: Speak Now World Tour Live , was recorded to accompany the tour.

The Red Tour

Two years later, Taylor was back on the road with the Red Tour, which kicked off in March of 2013 and ran through June of 2014, with a total of 86 performances across the globe. In addition to continuing to bump up the tour’s production value through costuming, choreography, and set design, the Red tour also featured the introduction of surprise songs, which changed night-to-night. Certain Red tour dates also featured Taylor bringing out a surprise guest and singing one of their songs as a duet. Highlights of Red tour guests included Taylor singing “Jenny From the Block” with Jennifer Lopez, “You’re So Vain” with Carly Simon, and “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” with Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump.

Unlike previous installments, there was no concert film version of the Red tour.

The 1989 World Tour

Following Red was the 1989 World Tour, beginning in May 2015 and ending December of the same year for a total of 85 shows. The 1989 World Tour featured the return of the Surprise Songs mechanic, and hosted Vance Joy, Shawn Mendes, Rae Morris, and Haim as opening acts. Haim would also go on to return as an opening act for the Eras Tour, as well as guest star in the Bejeweled music video and feature on an evermore track.

One of the tour stops in Sydney was recorded for a concert film version of the tour called The 1989 World Tour Live —prior to the Eras Tour, that Sydney performance held the record for Swift’s most-attended performance, with 75,980 Swifties in attendance.

Reputation Stadium Tour

Though Taylor had previously performed at plenty of stadiums on tour, the Reputation Stadium Tour was Swift’s first all-stadium tour, playing May through November of 2018 for a total of 53 shows—her shortest tour to date. Openers for reputation included Camila Cabello, Charli XCX, and Broods, some of whom would join Taylor during the set for “Shake it Off.” As with her previous tours, reputation featured surprise songs at each show and a number of surprise guests at certain performances, this time including Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez, and Niall Horan.

A performance in Arlington was recorded for a concert film called Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour , which was released by (but recently taken off of) Netflix. Fans speculate that reputation leaving Netflix could be related to the fact that Taylor has yet to re-record her masters for reputation .

A sixth tour, Lover Fest, was originally scheduled for April through August of 2020, but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour would’ve featured Swift’s then-first performance in Brazil, and would also have been the first time Swift’s tour dates included stops at previously organized festivals. Because there was no tour, there’s no Lover concert film, but Swift did release City of Lover , a recording of a one-off concert in Paris, as a tv special in May of 2020.

The Eras Tour

Last but certainly not least is, of course, The Eras Tour , which is currently ongoing and kicked off in March of 2023. We’ve previously done a full breakdown of the Eras setlist, which features glimpses into all of Swift’s previous albums, but focuses most heavily on those she was unable to tour because of COVID— Lover, folklore, evermore, and Midnights. A concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour , was released in theaters and is currently available to rent on streaming.

How Taylor Swift Won Back the Public

The reputation era was the last time the pop star let someone else define her. here’s how she rebuilt her image..

Portrait of Nate Jones

Taylor Swift is largely unmatched in modern pop — an artist who combines the soul of a poet, the nous of a chess master, and a hedge-funder’s eye for arbitrage opportunities. And her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , caps off a period of cultural dominance unseen in recent history. For an industry that runs on youth and novelty, Swift’s hitting a career peak in her mid-30s is a rare feat, and it’s even more remarkable for a woman, especially one who, eight years ago, endured a protracted public backlash tied to her long-running feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. That was the last time Swift let someone else define her. Since then, she has rebuilt her image so successfully that it’s hard to imagine anyone else taking her down again. As Swift enjoys playing with the concept of multiple selves — explored in music videos, tour sets, and credit-card commercials — here are the 13 Taylor Swifts that put her back on top again.

The Victim (2017)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

In her quarrel with the Wests, Swift was cast in the role of perfidious white woman falsely claiming victimhood. And since she has made her near-downfall an integral piece of her star narrative, the darkness before the inevitable triumph, some have questioned whether it was really that bad. (This magazine once called her single “Look What You Made Me Do” a “pure piece of Trump-era art,” which was not intended as a compliment.) After retreating from the public eye for months, she resurfaced in the summer of 2017 for a civil suit against a radio DJ who’d groped her years earlier. Confronted with a situation in which Swift incontrovertibly was a victim, seeking nothing more than a symbolic $1 in damages, public opinion began to turn around once more. She made such a winning appearance on the witness stand, refusing to be shaken by aggressive questioning, that even outlets who’d once denounced her published roundups of her best quips .

The Garbo (2018)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

During Swift’s year away, she began dating up-and-coming actor Joe Alwyn. Throughout their seven-year relationship, the pair were rarely photographed together and said as little as possible about each other in interviews. “We decided together we wanted our relationship to be private,” Swift would say. Going dark not only helped Swift ward off the overexposure that caused her trouble in the past, it also meant that, if you wanted to follow their love story, you could only do so through her music, a medium where Swift had full control. (And where Alwyn, credited as “William Bowery,” would occasionally pop up as a co-writer.) As Swift returned to the spotlight, she was careful to underline the difference between her public and private selves. In the liner notes to Reputation , she wrote, “We think we know someone, but the truth is that we only know the version of them that they have chosen to show us.”

The Vulnerable One (2018–19)

Lana Wilson’s film, which follows the star through 2018–19 and was released in 2020, provides a glimpse of what Swift considers to be her human side with frequent shots of her journaling and hanging out at home with her cats. (Alwyn is barely seen.) Amid the stage-managed authenticity of scenes in which Swift defends her decision to wade into politics to a room full of middle-age white men, there are a few genuine revelations. She discusses her history of disordered eating and her innate people-pleasing tendencies with the self-awareness of someone who has undergone a lot of therapy. Tellingly, the doc is bookended by scenes of Swift failing, first at the Grammys, then at politics. When she dejectedly declares that all she needs to do is make a better record than Reputation, it’s almost enough to make her feel like an underdog again.

The Ally (2019)

In the polarized atmosphere of the Trump presidency, the urgency of the moment overcame Swift’s natural prudence. After being knocked for her silence during the 2016 election — “Taylor Swift is never, ever, ever going to tell you whom she’s voting for, because speaking up is never, ever, ever going to benefit Taylor Swift,” quipped Vox.com — she entered the electoral arena during the subsequent midterms, calling on her fans in Tennessee to vote against anti-gay, anti-feminist Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn. She continued in this vein during her Lover era, campaigning for a bill outlawing discrimination against the LGBT community and issuing the thinly veiled Trump diss track “You Need to Calm Down” as a single. “Why are you mad when you could be GLAAD?” she sang, cavorting in the video with drag queens and the Queer Eye guys … and also Katy Perry, with whom she’d buried the hatchet, ending a yearslong feud. Unfortunately, both of Swift’s interventions came up short. (Blackburn was elected with nearly 55 percent of the vote — the political defeat Swift referenced in Miss Americana .) In retrospect, the greatest legacy of this moment was Swift waving the rainbow flag so fervently that a contingent of fans became convinced she was secretly queer. ( Is that why her hair was the same color as the bisexual pride flag? , conspiracists wondered.)

The Owner (2019)

The old Taylor had made hay out of feuds with other artists; the new Taylor would only battle enemies from within the executive class, none of whom could boast their own stan armies. Performing a career-spanning medley at the 2019 American Music Awards, Swift wore a shirt emblazoned with the names of her first six albums. It was a defiant salvo in a war that had begun three months earlier, when Swift announced a plan to rerecord her old music in protest of former Big Machine Records head Scott Borchetta’s   sale of her old masters to manager Scooter Braun, a Swift nemesis. “This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept,” she wrote on Tumblr . The AMAs performance was preceded by a public back-and-forth in which Swift claimed she had been forbidden from performing her old music unless she abandoned the project. (Big Machine Records denied this.) In the current Swift narrative, this is the other dark moment she had to overcome, and her personal activism, at least, had a happy ending. The rerecording project got underway in 2021, allowing Swift to rewrite the story of her career under self-ownership.

The Auteur (2020–22)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

Swift’s COVID albums folklore and evermore saw her turn away from autobiographical songwriting, employing fictional narratives inspired by the cinematic “folktales” like The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth she’d been exploring in quarantine. Full of contemplative woodland imagery and duets with adult-contemporary acts like Bon Iver and the National (whose guitarist Aaron Dessner co-wrote and produced significant chunks of both albums), the new music introduced a more highbrow, Pitchfork-friendly version of Swift. As the writer B.D. McClay noted, this era “brought back the fans who hadn’t loved her turn to pop or who had lost touch with her as they got older,” while also attracting “new fans who were interested in a Taylor Swift album without all the Taylor Swift personal baggage.” Swift’s serious-artist bona fides were further underscored by her burgeoning directorial career, which wiped away memories of earlier questionable Hollywood forays like Cats . Having begun helming her own music videos on Lover , she campaigned for a Live Action Short Oscar nomination for her “All Too Well” ten-minute version video, name-dropped her fave art-house films at film-festival talkbacks, and appeared opposite Martin McDonagh for Variety ’s “Directors on Directors” series. These efforts didn’t earn her an Oscar nom, but they did set up what appears to be the next stage of her career: In 2022, she landed a feature-film deal with Searchlight, whose presidents hailed her as a “once in a generation artist and storyteller.”

The Titan (2023)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

Swift went on tour in 2023, having released four new albums since she’d last hit the road and being in the middle of her rerecording project. Other artists’ live shows might have struggled from a lack of focus, but as always, Swift found a way to make it work for her: She embarked on the Eras Tour, a celebration of her entire career — ten acts, with past and present on equal terms, and Swift miming the lyrics the way her fans had done since childhood. In the words of critic Steven Hyden , the Eras concept dismantled “the ‘new work vs. old work’ binary for artists,” allowing Swift “to be a ‘legacy act’ and a ‘relevant pop act’ simultaneously.” As one college-age fan gushed to the New York Times , “You could so easily be ashamed of singing Taylor Swift in your bedroom. You could leave it behind. But she doesn’t let you … What if we weren’t ashamed of our eras? What if we realized they were always with us?” Eras is considered the highest-grossing concert tour ever, adding billions of dollars to the U.S. economy and reportedly making Swift herself a billionaire, too. Every night, she flexed her biceps in the lead-up to the Lover cut “The Man,” towering over the music industry like a colossus.

The Crisis Manager (2023)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

After news broke of her breakup with Alwyn in April 2023, Swift rebounded with his exact opposite: outspoken edgelord Matty Healy of the band the 1975. When Healy made racist comments about rapper Ice Spice on a podcast, the resulting controversy seemed for a second to engulf Swift herself. She quickly went into damage control, collaborating with Ice Spice on the remix of her latest single, “Karma,” and bringing her onstage at the Eras Tour in New Jersey. (The Healy relationship, which was never confirmed by either party, ended soon after.) The idea of Swift as a PR mastermind became such a significant element of her star image that her publicist, the all-seeing, all-knowing Tree Paine, became a minor celebrity in her own right.

The Squad Leader (2023)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

Swift’s 1989 was the era of her squad — a collection of similarly famous women who represented the power of female friendship, the freedom to not be defined by her romantic relationships. (Little did she know fans would simply assume she was dating girls instead.) Coincidentally or not, the run-up to the 1989 rerelease in October 2023 saw the rebirth of the squad, as Swift began making more public appearances flocked by her celebrity friends. She was not subtle about employing the spotlight as a shield. When Sophie Turner was hounded by the tabloids amid her divorce from Joe Jonas, a Swift ex from years ago, Swift took Turner under her wing, keeping her close in a signal of solidarity. Not everyone received the same benefits: As rumors swirled that Swift was feuding with Olivia Rodrigo over songwriting credits, the latter was a conspicuous absence in her personal life.

The Mogul (2023)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

When it came time to release a concert movie from the Eras Tour, Swift seized control of the means of production. She self-funded the project, then made a distribution deal with AMC directly, cutting out the big Hollywood studios. (Here, too, she was savvy in her enemies, as at that moment the studios were widely despised due to the SAG and WGA strikes.) The most notable guest at the premiere? Beyoncé, whose Renaissance Tour overlapped with Swift’s, and who would soon release her own concert film through similar methods — a gesture that they would no longer be pitted against each other, at least outside the Grammys. “The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms,” Swift wrote on Instagram , alongside a Boomerang of Beyoncé tossing popcorn.

The Empire (2023)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

Swift doesn’t give many interviews, and when she does, they’re usually with Time, which hits her sweet spot: venerable, middlebrow, and pliant. (You can imagine her parents were subscribers in the ’90s.) Her 2023 “Person of the Year” cover was a culmination of her playing a nearly perfect game on the celebrity front. “It feels like the breakthrough moment of my career, happening at 33,” Swift told the mag. “Ultimately, we can convolute it all we want, or try to overcomplicate it, but there’s only one question … ‘Are you not entertained?’” However, the accompanying photos demonstrated a disconnect between Swift’s brand of relatable stardom, which all but demands a feline accessory, and the high-glam style of the culture industry. Alone among A-list pop stars, Swift is not expected to slay: As Puck’s Lauren Sherman wrote, her current aesthetic is aimed at “14-year-olds, or someone of any age who wishes to look like a senior at Emerson College in 2006.” She serves big sister, not strictly mother.

The Girlfriend (2024)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

Swift’s relationship with NFL tight end Travis Kelce can be seen as a corporate merger of the last two vestiges of the monoculture, and her frequent presence on Chiefs broadcasts was widely credited for expanding the league’s female audience. This relationship has played out in full view of the media, as unlike Alwyn or Healy, Kelce — who harbors ambitions to be as famous as the Rock — has been an enthusiastic participant in Swift’s star project, flying to Argentina on his bye week so she could run into his arms after a Buenos Aires concert. Such a public performance of romance was the biggest fan service Swift could provide, and it inaugurated a period of mass saturation that has marked a stark shift from her earlier reclusion. In her Time interview, Swift confirmed her approach had changed since the Reputation era. “Me locking myself away in my house for a lot of years — I’ll never get that time back.”

The Mastermind (2024)

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

When Swift walked the 2024 Grammys red carpet in a white Schiaparelli gown and black gloves, haters pounced. (As one anonymous writer put it , her outfit “looked like hotel curtains saddled with opera gloves and a watch choker that cut her neck in half.”) Still, as they had been trained to do, fans obsessively studied the look for clues about the rerecorded version of Reputation , which is linked with monochrome imagery in Swiftie lore. But they had it all wrong. When Swift won Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights — her 13th Grammy, she noted auspiciously — she used her acceptance speech to announce a brand-new record, The Tortured Poets Department . Which perhaps explains the over-the-top romanticism of the look. She wasn’t dressing for the Grammys, or for Midnights ; she was dressing for her new era.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the Surprise Guests So Far

Fans at these shows had some good karma

Taylor Swift 's Eras tour is straight out of our wildest dreams.

On her 60-stop tour , the 12-time Grammy Award winner has not disappointed — from the 10-studio-album setlist, to the outfits, to the surprise guests. So far, Swift has brought out six artists to perform on the stage with her, and fans have been enchanted by each and every one.

Already looking ahead, fans have been taking their guesses at who else might show up onstage — Swift has songs that include Keith Urban (who already saw a show but did not perform), Lana Del Rey , Bon Iver, The Chicks , Kendrick Lamar , Zayn Malik and Ed Sheeran , just to name a few. When Haim opens the tour later this summer, many are hoping they will join Swift to sing "No Body No Crime," which they collaborated on for Evermore.

Here is all you need to know about the Eras Tour surprise guests so far.

Marcus Mumford

Just a week after kicking off her tour, Marcus Mumford — the Mumford & Sons frontman — joined Swift to sing "Cowboy Like Me" at her March 25 Las Vegas show. On the song in the Evermore album, Mumford sings only harmonies, but attendees of the concert got to hear him sing a verse. Swift recorded several songs from Evermore in Mumford's home recording studio during the height of the pandemic, and he joined in on the track after stopping in to listen one day.

In a TikTok post after the show, Mumford shared the duo’s performance, captioning it, "you're a bandit like me @taylorswift."

Aaron Dessner

Three Eras Tour stops have included Aaron Dessner . The first was the April 14 show in Tampa, where Dessner and Swift sang "The Great War" — also one of the two surprise songs of the night. He came back for a second night in a row to perform “Mad Woman” from Folklore. A month later, Dessner joined Swift again at one of her Nashville shows on May 7, where they sang  "Would've, Could've, Should've" in the pouring rain.

Phoebe Bridgers

Indie singer Phoebe Bridgers opened for some shows in the Eras tour — and on her first night as an opener, Bridgers returned to the stage to sing “Nothing New” with Swift, from Red (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault) . For the rest of the May shows, the song held a permanent spot on the setlist, so Bridgers joined Swift for shows in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

Jack Antonoff

Kevin Mazur/TAS23/Getty

Any Swiftie knows that Jack Antonoff plays a major role in the making of many of Swift's songs. During her first New Jersey show on May 26, Fans were elated when she brought Antonoff out to sing Reputation hit "Getaway Car" and play their guitars, as the making of the song was documented in Swift's 2020 Miss Americana documentary.

On May 27, the day Swift announced the release of a remix version of "Karma" featuring Ice Spice , the rapper made an appearance at the end of the New Jersey show to perform the song alongside Swift. Ice Spice ended up sticking around, joining Swift for all three of her New Jersey concerts.

Maren Morris

Chicago fans were in for a treat when Swift brought one of her "favorite artists," as she said that night, Maren Morris , onstage on June 3. For the first time, the duo performed their song, "You All Over Me," from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault) as they strummed their guitars.

Morris took to TikTok after the show to share the performance, writing "Thank you so much for having me @Taylor Swift . Your generosity to me in these last 7 years is insurmountable and I love you so."

She added on Instagram , "We finally got to play 'You All Over Me' and I won't ever be shutting up about it."

Taylor Swift stares into the camera from the stage.

There’s no time like the present, Swifties.

On April 19, Taylor Swift dropped her 11th studio album “The Tortured Poet’s Department.” As expected, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter became the internet’s main character.

Some raved about the sprawling, ambitious double album; others criticized the record for its length, subject matter and lyrics.

All we know is that in the seven days that have passed, ticket prices to see Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ live have plummeted for most of her concerts in Europe.

Based on our findings, most shows have seats available that are significantly cheaper than they cost just a week ago.

In fact, some tickets are over $1,000 less than they were on April 19 already.

While it’s not the case for her U.S. and Canada gigs — where prices have mostly stayed flat or slowly risen — we’d argue it might be in your best interest to book tickets to an overseas ‘Eras Tour’ concert given this cooldown.

Want to find out how much tickets cost for ‘Eras Tour’ concerts versus what they were going for on April 19?

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about Taylor Swift’s 2024 tour below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift 2024 tickets

A complete calendar including all upcoming tour dates, venues, and the best ticket prices for all concerts versus what they cost on April 19 can be found here.

*The lower ticket price is in bold.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Taylor Swift set list

While Swift is known for dropping a surprise song or two into her shows, the tracks stay surprisingly consistent for most gigs (although that will likely change in the wake of “TTPD’s” release).

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Over the past few months, we spoke to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live and  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

Taylor Swift new music

As noted above, Swift’s  “The Tortured Poets Department”  was released at midnight (and subsequently at 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek, synth-y “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — if you haven’t already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department”  here .

Taylor Swift opening acts

Taylor only has two opening acts lined up for the ‘Eras Tour’ this year.

Here’s what you need to know about her well-established special guests.

Paramore  will play alongside Swift after mounting a massive 2023 tour of their own. The group, fronted by lead singer Hayley Williams, reunited in 2022 after a five-year hiatus. For fans that want to check out their latest, you can listen to “This Is Why,” their sixth studio album, which dropped in February 2023.

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour last spring as well.

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (sometimes more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Kacey Musgraves

•  Pink

•  Chappell Roan

•  Alanis Morissette

Who else is on the road this year? Check out our list of the  50 biggest concert tours in 2024  to find out.

Taylor Swift namedrops this Florida city on “The Tortured Poets Department.’ Where is Destin?

taylor swift reputation tour special guests

Destin's tourism department just hit a huge jackpot.

While Florida got a huge shoutout on Taylor Swift " The Tortured Poet's Department " album, the Northwest Florida city got an extra special nod in the song.

In her 11th studio album , Swift sings about escaping to the Sunshine State, with Florence + The Machine  by her side. Together, they both detail the sunny paradise in a haunting, brutal way that only Floridians know.

What were Taylor Swift's lyrics about Destin?

In the song " Florida !!!" with Florence + the Machine, Swift sings the lyrics:

"Little did you know your home's really only; A town you're just a guest in; So you work your life away just to pay; For a time-share down in Destin."

Where is Destin?

Destin is a city located along the Gulf of Mexico in Okaloosa County, right in the state's panhandle region. According to USA Today, the area is known as a tourist destination because of the gulf beaches, fishing and resorts.

What is Swift's connection to Destin, Florida?

There is no direct connection to Destin for the popstar but Swift does have some ties to the state as a whole.

For starters, her father Scott Swift lives in a $4 million home in Pinellas County. Back in 2020, it was reported he fought a burglar who broke into the St. Pete penthouse.

Swift has also toured in Florida throughout her career, ever since her Fearless World Tour. That's not even counting the festivals she's played at early in her career, such as the Florida Strawberry Festival and Lehigh Spring Fest.

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce? Nah. Florida, Eras Tour singer make one enchanted love story

So it's clear Swift loves Florida but do we love her? A report from sports betting website  Betway  last year revealed that Florida houses the most Swifties. According to Betway, Florida makes 5.5 million yearly searches about Taylor Swift, making it the No. 1 state in the U.S. That's roughly 81,910 searches per 10,000 residents.

What is Taylor Swift's song 'Florida!!!' about?

In “Florida!!!”, Swift and Florence offer up a suspense-filled track that highlights the beauty and brutality of the state, with lyrics aimed at escaping, washing away with hurricanes and bodies (metaphorically) sinking away in the swamp.

But what is the song actually about? Well, no one but Swift, her collaborators and closest confidants will know the answer but that doesn't stop Swifties from sleuthing. However, Swift did tell iHeart Radio that after getting inspiration from crime shows, she thought of where she'd go if she needed to reinvent herself.

"I think I was coming up with this idea of 'what happens when your life doesn't fit' or 'the choices you've made catch up with you' and you're surrounded by these harsh consequences and judgement," Swift said. "And circumstances did not lead you to where you thought you'd be."

Fans previously speculated the album was about Swift’s six-year relationship with English actor Joe Alwyn and their breakup. Many theorize that "Florida!!!" is about her Eras Tour shows at Tampa's Raymond James Stadium from April 13-15, 2023 — which would have been when details of Swift's and Alwyn's breakup were made public.

The theory seems to be confirmed when Florence sings, "So you pack your life away just to wait out/The sh—storm back in Texas." According to Elle , Houston was the next tour stop after Tampa.

Ever since the track list was revealed, fans looked back at moments from the Tampa shows and noticed the popstar seemed upset when performing songs about her past relationship.

Does Florida get any other Tayor Swift nods in 'The Tortured Poets Department'?

Yes! In "Fortnight," a collaboration with Post Malone and the lead single on the album about a suburban housewife's fling with a married man, she sings at the end:

"'Nother fortnight lost in America; Move to Florida, buy the car you want; But it won't start up 'til you touch, touch, touch me"

Where can I buy 'The Tortured Poets Department'?

You can purchase it  on her website . There are several versions of the album available, including a CD, cassette, vinyl and digital album.

These retailers are selling the album starting Friday, April 19:

  • Barnes and Noble

Taylor Swift didn’t hold back on calling everyone out on her newest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” and the reactions are rolling in.

The surprise double album was released in two parts on April 19, giving exuberant Swifties plenty of material to analyze — including multiple celebrity call-outs.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian sitting alertly in a brown leather chair in a black jacket and top looking straight ahead

Swift and Kardashian have a long-standing feud, which started with Swift and Ye back in the day and goes back to Kimye’s infamous doctored phone call , which appeared to prove Taylor had given consent for a nude wax figure of her to appear in Kanye’s “Famous” music video. TLDR: The call was edited, but Swift was ripped to shreds online anyway, an experience that inspired her now legendary “Reputation” album.

Swift isn’t quite letting Kardashian off the hook, and “TTPD’s” “thanK you aIMee” pointedly had the letters of Kardashian’s first name capitalized in the title.

Taylor Swift turns heel, owning her chaos and messiness on ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

Swift’s 11th studio LP, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ released at midnight Eastern time, follows a busy period in the 34-year-old’s personal and professional spheres.

April 18, 2024

“And so I changed your name and any real defining clues / And one day, your kid comes home singin’ / A song that only us two is gonna know is about you,” Taylor wrote, apparently referencing daughter North West’s TikToks that have featured her songs in the past.

Kardashian didn’t respond directly to the taunt, but she did post a throwback photo with Swift’s ex-best friend Karlie Kloss on mutual pal Derek Blasberg’s birthday. Whether it was a coincidence is anyone’s guess.

Matty Healy

The 1975 frontman was the surprise “TTPD” guest star. He and the “Bejeweled” singer appeared to have had a short fling following her split from Joe Alwyn, but the lyrics in “TTPD” have led to speculation that the two were involved for far longer.

The title track is particularly damning: “You left your typewriter at my apartment,” Swift sings, referencing Healy’s apparent penchant for the old-school device. (“Who uses typewriters anyway?” she later asks.)

Swift goes on to call him a “tattooed golden retriever” before describing his smoking habits.

“But you tell Lucy you’d kill yourself if I ever leave / And I had said that to Jack about you so I felt seen,” she continues, referencing Boygenius member Lucy Dacus, who performed with Swift on the Eras tour, and her producer and bestie Jack Antonoff. Sounds super healthy and normal!

The best songs from Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ double album

Taylor Swift released the 16-track “Tortured Poets Department” at the stroke of midnight on Friday — and surprised fans with 15 more songs two hours later. Here are the best songs from the double album.

April 19, 2024

And all that’s from just one song. “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “Guilty as Sin?,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” all pile on the blame.

Healy responded coolly on Wednesday. “I haven’t really listened to that much of it,” the singer told paparazzi, “but I’m sure it’s good.”

His tone marks a stark difference from when he called dating Swift “ emasculating .”

His mom, Denise Welch, was similarly unbothered, saying on British talk show “Loose Women” that she “wasn’t aware [Swift] had an album out at all.”

Unlikely, considering “TTPD” just became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day, but whatever.

Just as fans predicted, Taylor’s ex-boyfriend of six years was spared little sympathy. Even the album title is supposedly a reference to the name of a group chat between the actor, Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, called the “Tortured Man Club.”

“So Long, London” is Taylor’s most obvious hit at Alwyn, considering he inspired the track “London Boy” on her 2019 album “Lover.”

“I didn’t opt in to be your odd man out,” she sings about the end of their relationship. “I founded the club she’s heard great things about / I left all I knew, you left me at the house by the Heath.”

The 5 tracks you need to hear from Taylor Swift’s surprise ‘Tortured Poets’ companion

Released two hours after “The Tortured Poets Department” on Thursday night, Taylor Swift’s second set of new songs contains a handful of highlights.

It’s clear Alwyn promised Swift a lot more than what he gave her. In “LOML” she laments how “You s—-talked me under the table / Talkin’ rings and talkin’ cradles / I wish I could unrecall / How we almost had it all.”

The marriage references don’t stop. In “imgonnagetyouback,” Swift tries to decide “whether I’m gonna be your wife or gonna smash up your bike.”

Fans have also latched onto a line in “Fortnight,” which features Post Malone, as proof that Alwyn wasn’t always faithful to Swift. “My husband is cheating, I wanna kill him,” Swift sings.

According to a source , Alwyn “has listened to the album, and he is slightly disappointed, but not surprised at all.” Maybe he’s upset about Healy stealing his spotlight?

Travis Kelce

NFL star Travis Kelce speaks at a microphone while seated in his Kansas City Chiefs uniform

Of course, Swift couldn’t leave current beau Kelce behind. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is the apparent subject of “The Alchemy” and “So High School,” both of which are riddled with football metaphors.

“The greatest in the league / Where’s the trophy? / He just comes running over to me,” she sings in “The Alchemy,” referencing the couple’s viral kiss after Kelce‘s team won the Super Bowl in February.

“You know how to ball, I know Aristotle,” she added in “So High School.” “You knew what you wanted and, boy, you got her,” she concludes in the song, alluding to how Kelce pursued her after seeing her perform on the Eras tour.

Science & Medicine

Taylor Swift’s new album is rife with breakup songs. Psychologists explain why we love them

Taylor Swift’s new ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ album draws inspiration from her own breakups. What attracts us to songs about failed relationships?

“I have heard some of it, yes, and it is unbelievable,” Kelce said at a sports event in February, ahead of the album’s release. “I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops.”

He’s “very proud of her,” a source told E! News after the record dropped earlier this month.

“Travis is so supportive of the entire album,” the source continued, “and loves that he is a part of Taylor’s story.”

Kelce’s mom, Donna, even chimed in the conversation with her own praise. “I listened to the whole album, and I listened to it all morning long when it was released,” she told People this week.

“I was just very impressed,” she said. “She is a very talented woman, and I think it is probably her best work.”
