Remarquable restaurant. Tout d'abord l'accueil est chaleureux et efficace tant de la patronne que des deux jeunes serveurs. Et un repas d'une qualité exceptionnelle, que ce soit l'araignée et langoustines en entrée d'une belle fraîcheur, puis un remarquable turbot bien épais cuit dans les règles... de l'art et un plat de coquilles et boudins délicieux et pour finir l'incontournable kouign-Amann pas du tout écœurant. Bref c'est un peu cher MAIS tout à fait justifié vu la qualité des produits, la quantité servie et la maîtrise du chef. Un bien beau restaurant ! Plus

J'ai eu l'occasion de dîner dans cet établissement, acceuil très sympathique, le professionnalisme est à l'honneur, les plats sont exquis et très goûteux ...je recommande les yeux fermés...

Restaurant très petit vaut mieux faire une réservation Les plats sont assez hobereaux mais la qualité n’a pas de prix Nous avons mangé des coquilles St beure beurre blanc avec des petits légumes c’est vraiment excellent Le personnel est à l’écoute et serviable

Un déjeuner improvisé pour la St Valentin , cadre exceptionnel , accueil chaleureux dans une salle bien décorée et pas trop grande . Au menu filet de dorade avec petits légumes fondants et purée délicieuse et pour finir moelleux au chocolat avec sorbet poire qui... ne sent pas l'industriel . Quelle déconvenue! Nous avions réservé une table en précisant qu'il y avait une personne végétarienne. Dès le menu en mains, nous avons indiqué qu'il y aurait un plat végétarien; malaise de la serveuse qui nous envoie une responsable qui nous informe qu'il n'y aura pas... de plat végétarien malgré le fait qu'il soit au menu! La raison invoquée étant un problème de personnel... Nous n'avons pas compris. Les plats étaient bien servis avec des légumes. On nous a mis à l'aise en nous précisant que nous pouvions partir!! A l'heure du déjeuner où toutes les terrasses se remplissaient... Nous sommes restés par contre je ne me suis jamais autant sentie seule et malvenue et... végétarienne : j'ai mangé de la roquette et des petites graines😂!!! Je précise que nous étions déjà venus à la Cale-Solidor et j'ai pu déguster une superbe assiette végétarienne. J'ai noté "moyen" pour ne pas dire "horrible" (ce qui a été mon sentiment ce jour là) pour le plat de fruits de mer de mon conjoint et l'amabilité des serveuses. Quelle déception! Plus

Near the smolenskaya station, this restaurant is run by your actual genuine Turkish family who seem to speak most European languages. Food was excellent, as was the beer! A little on the pricey side but excellent quality with friendly staff. Sit outside in the summer!

I have been 3 times. Everything was perfect. All personal speaking Turkish, English, Russian and Arabic. Adana Kebab was amazing!

Stopped by for lunch while taking a look at Arbat street. Nice decor and atmosphere. Staff efficent and friendly. Good caesar salad and calamari. The lamb kebab was also pretty good.

I have eaten here several times, and each time it doesn't disappoint. The food is authentic Turkish, great portions, and delicious. The staff is friendly, attentive, and speaks excellent English. The owner delivered the food himself since the restaurant wasn't very busy. He was engaging,... funny, and has a penchant for American politics. He was very excited to have won a small wager against the waitstaff that Trump would become President. They have a homemade beer, which is excellent, and homemade wine which was good, but not amazing. I recommend anything on the menu, it's all very good. Prices were moderate given the quality of the food. They take your coat at the door to give you more room at your table. I highly recommend! More

I am a fan of Turkish cuisine, so whan I saw this restaurant on the Arbat on a rainy night in Moscow I decided to give it a try. Wise decision. Bosphor is right off of Arbat Street. The food was very good, and the indoor atmosphere was nice. There was a large choice of traditional Turkish food on the menu, which was available in English. After walking around a lot we bumped into this restaurant and decided to have dinner here as it was close to our hotel. Restaurant cook accused of putting his genitals on open food items, police say

HOUSTON (Gray News) - A restaurant cook in Houston is accused of putting his genitals on open food items, according to authorities.

On April 4, Harris County deputies arrived at the restaurant, Kulture, and saw surveillance video from the manager showing 27-year-old Othello Larenzo Holmes allegedly placing his genitals on food items, KPRC reported

When interviewed by investigators, he said that he “has these urges frequently and has a history of sexual offenses.”

Following the controversy, the restaurant immediately shut down and fired the employee. The restaurant also threw all the kitchen items and hasn’t served a single patron since, KPRC reported.

Holmes was charged with indecent assault, which eventually led investigators to dig more into his digital footprint and past.

On April 15, Holmes gave written consent to the forensic analysis of his cellphone.

KPRC reported that authorities extracted over 100 images and five videos of child pornography . The videos contained children between the ages of infancy and teens engaging in sexual intercourse and various sexual acts.

Records also show that an image was found on his phone, showing a conversation on Telegram, a social media messenger app. The conversation was allegedly between Holmes and another username “Princess” in a chat room named the “Devil Lair.”

In the conversation, Holmes allegedly says, “Super pervy yesterday. I wish I had access to kids.”

Princess says, “I wish you did too (cry face emoji),” according to KPRC.

Due to the nature of the evidence, it was determined Holmes was a danger to society and should not be around children.

Holmes was booked into the Harris County Jail on a $500,000 bond for the child pornography cases.

Authorities believe that he may have done this at several restaurants where he previously worked.

Guess who’s back in Detroit? Keith Lee, one of the most viral names in online food reviewing and a native son of the Motor City, raised in the Joy Road and Evergreen area on the westside, has arrived in the city and is ready to eat. The TikTok personality returned with his family for a visit this week and is asking for recommendations of local restaurants that want to be reviewed.

It’s a busy time to go check out restaurants in Detroit, as Lee pointed out in a post published Thursday, April 25. There’s the NFL Draft taking place downtown (which is already breaking attendance records with a whopping 275,000 visitors who descended upon the central business district on Day One of the Draft). Helping to kick off the football festivities, another Detroit native, Big Sean, delighted fans Thursday with a quick performance on the Draft stage.

In light of the chaos overtaking much of the city’s hospitality industry during the Draft, Lee says he’s not treating this trip as a “full food tour,” but is rather taking this time to revisit some of his beloved childhood favorites, like coneys, corned beef egg rolls, and Better Made chips.

Lee wasted no time with the taste-testing, first stopping by Hart Plaza — the NFL Draft Experience area site, where dozens of local restaurants, food trucks, and cafes are set up for the festivities. He appreciated the fact that many of the food vendors were Black-owned. He offered a sneak peek of what he’s getting into food-wise during this current visit by checking out a tray of wings from Good Vibes Lounge . He reported that the East English Village establishment had just gotten hit (presumably by a car) and that the ownership was feeling “defeated.”

“God willingly, she got a space here at the NFL Draft,” Lee says, before he displays a screenshot of Good Vibe Lounge’s Instagram account to let viewers know how to find the neighborhood bar and restaurant.

“God don’t make no mistakes,” added Lee, who is known for his spiritual take on his so-called “ Keith Lee effect .” Eater has reached out to Lee via email about his visit and will report any updates when they become available.

Lee has become a household fixture among the food-obsessed for his food tours in cities across the United States, including San Francisco , New Orleans , Dallas , Chicago , and Atlanta — a destination that went viral for its many dramatic instances of bad experiences. A native Detroiter, who now lives in Las Vegas, Lee has more than 16 million followers and makes it a point to visit smaller mom-and-pop establishments — often that are BIPOC-owned — that may have impressive menus, but that might be lacking in online presence. His visits are unannounced and are primarily takeout. He often sends in a family member to fetch the food when it’s ready so as not to attract attention. He rates each place 1 to 10 for customer service and the quality of the food, and makes sure to note his personal preferences whenever he scores. When he first started, he focused on Vegas-area restaurants and did his reviews while sitting in a tiny children’s-sized Paw Patrol chair, and now he most often films his reviews in his car.

The “Keith Lee effect” that his reviews have on small businesses is profound. Janel Prator, owner of the Puddery , a Houston-area dessert business featuring Prator’s creamy banana pudding, told Eater in a December 2023 report that her shop was struggling to take off before a review Lee did his did of her place in November. His influence was immediate business took off, with customers lined up from the front door eager to try her desserts.

The last time Lee paid a visit to his hometown was in September when he reviewed several beloved local food businesses, including the Spot food truck, which, according to Lee’s review, had contacted him on social media to invite him to check out its food. He ordered a steak crunchwrap supreme with Hot Cheetos (on the side) and gave the truck a rave review for its service, house-made “Turbo” sauce, and commented that the meat was seasoned to perfection. Similar to Prator’s experience, the Spot also reported traffic snaked around its truck in the days after Lee’s review went live.

A wild week in restaurants with 4 closings and an opening.

It's been a week of big news in restaurants with announcements of closings of restaurants we've barely gotten a chance to love and places that hold a special place in our dining history. Here's a quick rundown of what's closing and what's coming next.

Arrivederci to i.e.

Fans of i.e. Italian Eatery and Un Dito were saddened to open their inboxes and find a newsletter update from the restaurants saying that both will close early this summer, either in late May or early June.

Owners Vanessa and Eric Carrara wrote: "The gratitude we have for being able to serve you, to celebrate you, and to create a place to do life together, transcends what words can be conveyed."

I.e.-Italian Eatery (4724 Cedar Av. S., Mpls.) opened in January 2016 and quickly blossomed into a neighborhood go-to for wine, brunch and pasta. The Star Tribune praised the Carraras as "sharp restaurateurs," and the restaurant's lemon polenta pancakes as "sublime."

In the newsletter, the Carraras noted that the nine-year-old restaurant and its parking lot sibling had record sales in the past year; their St. Paul focacceria Due is unaffected by this news. This is a developing story and we will have more information soon.

Last call for ramen

Eat Street Crossing's ramen restaurant Ramen Shoten closes April 28 . Owners Lina Goh and chef John Ng are consolidating resources in the hopes of bolstering their original restaurant Zen Box Izakaya (602 Washington Av. S., Mpls., zenbox.com ), which has been besieged by a multi-year road construction project on Washington Avenue.

Taking its place is a new pan-Asian restaurant from Las Vegas chef Louross Edralin, who's also an alum of TV's "Hell's Kitchen." He's dubbed the new concept Staff Meeting, and it will serve dishes he loves to eat with his crew after restaurant service. Eat Street Crossing is at 2819 Nicollet Av. S., Mpls., eatstreetcrossing.com .

Downtown's gluten-free, vegan cafe switching gears

Hark Cafe opened amid the pandemic, during a seismic shift in the way folks visited downtown Minneapolis. And yet they persisted for three years, serving not just niche clients with dietary needs, but anyone who appreciated a sun-filled breakfast spot with bagels and brightly frosted pop-tarts.

Owners Lisa Neumann and Katherine Pardue will shutter the spac e (430 1st Av. N., Mpls., harkcafe.com ) on April 28 and move Hark operations into a commercial kitchen. Fans will still be able to find their goods through catering services.

Wayzata Lululemon becoming restaurant Eloise

With three boys of her own, Lindsay Pohlad always kept a girl's name in the back of her mind, should she ever have a fourth child.

Meanwhile, in 2020, she opened the Grocer's Table, a casual cafe and market in Wayzata — an experience not unlike raising another little one.

"I've always called my work in this industry my fourth child," she wrote in an email.

So it made sense that, upon deciding to open another restaurant, she'd give it the girl name she had picked out for a human.

This fall, Pohlad will open Eloise, a restaurant with seasonal, global influences. It'll take over the Lululemon next door to the Grocer's Table. (The name comes from her husband's grandmother, philanthropist Eloise Pohlad.)

"People often say they feel like they are sitting in their friend's kitchen when they are at the Grocer's Table — the inevitable gathering place when at a friend's home and a place to casually convene and banter," Pohlad said. "Eloise will hopefully feel like you are in your friend's living room that you never want to leave." Not too fancy, "where you can't touch the furniture or smudge the glass coffee table," she added.

Chef Craig Johnson of the Grocer's Table is overseeing the menu at Eloise.

"There are some bold Mediterranean flavors and, as always for us, a major focus on seasonality which gives the menu a Midwest sensibility," Pohlad said. "The food will be elevated but still rustic and approachable," and will even have a few dishes that the real-life Eloise Pohlad enjoyed.

Shea is designing the space, which will have 85 seats inside, plus a patio. The restaurant, at 332 Broadway Av. S., Wayzata, will be open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday.

Sandburg CAD students sketch up success

Students studying computer-aided design and engineering at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park made a successful trip to the Illinois Design Educators Association State CAD Competition recently at Illinois State University. Sandburg competed in five divisions and medaled in three.

Senior Logan Zerfass finished in 1st place in the Introductory CAD division with a perfect score and was named a State Champion, marking the school’s third State Champion in the past four years in that division. Fellow senior Jacob Sexton took home 2nd place in 3D Architectural Modeling, and senior Monica Jagodka placed 3rd in 3D Machine CAD. Other Sandburg seniors who competed at the state event were Nathan Fuentebella and Patrick Bigos. All of the students had finished in 1st place at the Moraine Valley Regional.

Fire damages Orland Park restaurant

A fire Monday night damaged the Al Bahaar Restaurant, 39 Orland Square Drive, according to a news release from the Orland Fire Protection District. Major damage was averted and nobody was injured in the blaze, which was discovered in a restaurant wall, officials said.

Restaurant owners initially suspected an alarm was triggered by a malfunction, but as firefighters inspected the restaurant to reset the fire alarm, they detected a burning smell, district officials said in the release.

“The danger of a fire inside a wall is that it climbs up inside the wall above the sprinkler system and can do far more damage,” said Fire Chief Michael Schofield.

Once the fire was discovered additional responders came from Orland Fire, Palos Heights, Palos Park, Tinley Park and other fire districts and departments.

Firefighters moved quickly to open the wall exposing heavy smoke and flames which were rapidly extinguished, preventing the fire from spreading and causing more damage.

“The diligence of the initial fire company should be commended, given that their actions saved a potential total loss by locating a hidden fire within a wall that could have spread to the unprotected attic area and destroyed this building or caused harm to patrons and employees,” Schofield said.

Emmy winner alum to return to H-F

Scott Adametz, who has built a career that spans media, sports, esports and gaming since graduating from Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor in 2003, will return to his alma mater Monday morning to give broadcasting, computer science and engineering students a chance to hear from an accomplished industry leader.

Now the engineering director for ecosystem security at Epic Games, Adametz oversees a team that develops tools to ensure player safety across Epic’s games, including Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite, Fall Guys and Rocket Racing. Before that, he worked for Riot Games, where he focused on technology and production for esports events. He was a key figure in Project Stryker, a global remote production initiative, and was involved in major events for League of Legends and VALORANT.

Adametz has helped launch several national television networks, starting with the Big Ten Network in Chicago, the Speed network in Charlotte, and the Pac-12 Network in San Francisco, and also contributed to technology operations at NFL Media in Los Angeles.

During his high school years, Adametz was the Viking Television anchor, station engineer and operations director as well as station manager at WHFH radio, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Additionally, he was an Illinois Speech State Champion and an Illinois Theater State Champion.

The school has proudly displayed his 2019 Emmy Award for Outstanding Esports Coverage of the League of Legends World Final at the main entrance to motivate students.

Andrew High School takes part in Day of Understanding

Students at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park recently took part in a Day of Understanding to address respect and responsibility. The activities were created, delivered and facilitated by students as a way to enhance cultural responsiveness by educating students about microaggressions, the importance of words, and how to contribute to the school’s climate and culture.

Students watched a series of videos and discussed microaggressions, respect, and responsibility. Students highlighted what microaggressions are and the impact they can have. Respect centered on the importance of not judging but rather understanding, while responsibility focused on how words and actions can cause more harm than good, especially when social media isn’t used appropriately.

There were break-out sessions where small groups discussed ways to stop the drama, stop making judgments without knowing the full story, and discussions about what could be done to make Andrew a better place.

According to senior Marisa Lynch, the Day of Understanding stemmed from the Restorative Circles Club as members were trying to find ways to instill preventive measures so students could better understand their frustrations and solve issues.

“The day is necessary because it shows students leading by example,” she said. “If your peers are more likely to participate in a civil manner, then you are likely to as well. A Day of Understanding is the projection of this idea on a larger scale.”

Weavers Guild South to meet in Matteson

An abundance of fibers will be introduced when the Weavers Guild South meets at noon May 18 at the Matteson Public Library, 801 School Ave.

Former art teacher Betty Burian Kirk will present about animal fibers, such as yak and musk ox, plant fibers like ramie and lotus as well as regenerated manufactured fibers like rose, pearl and mint. Find out what the most expensive legal fiber is.

Beverly/Morgan Park Home Tour planned in May

The Beverly Area Planning Association will host the Beverly/Morgan Park Home Tour from noon to 5 p.m. May 19 Five private residences, including three with deep roots in area history, will be open to visitors. The tour will begin at Smith Village, a senior care community celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Homes on this year’s tour range from a Victorian era Morgan Park mansion to a modest Depression era West Beverly brick house that has been expanded and remodeled for modern family living.

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry share lead in team event at TPC of Louisiana

AVONDALE, La. — Rory McIlroy is enjoying his first visit to New Orleans — on and off the course.

McIlroy and Shane Lowry shot an 11-under 61 in fourball play Thursday for a share of the first-round lead in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the PGA Tour’s only team event.

The Irish duo shared the lead with the teams of Ryan Brehm-Mark Hubbard, Ben Kohles-Patton Kizzire and Aaron Rai-David Lipsky.

McIlroy’s introduction to New Orleans included a sampling of crab beignets from popular restaurant La Petite Grocery on Wednesday night, a meal he shared with Lowry. On Thursday, they feasted on the Pete Dye layout, birdieing their first four holes.

“I’ve had a wonderful time so far,” McIlroy said. “I’ve only been here a couple of days but we’re staying downtown. It’s a cool city, great food scene.”

McIlroy had the team’s first three birdies, although on the par-5 second Lowry was inches away but watched as his teammate knocked in a putt of about 4 feet. After a pair of pedestrian pars, they birdied four of the next six holes before closing out with a birdie on the par-5 18th to gain a share of the lead.

“We both played nice golf,” Lowry said, emphasizing the importance getting off to a fast start. “We both made some nice birdies and contributed to the team, and I think we’re very happy with the day.”

Brehm and Hubbard mirrored McIlroy and Lowry with four opening birdies. The team made the turn in 6-under par 30 and bookended birdies on the 10th and 11th and 17th and 18th holes on the back nine.

“Just like usual, we ham-and-egged it,” Brehm said. “I don’t think either of us were feeling amazing about our games coming into the day, but we just feed off each other really well. “I was doing a lot of spectating today.”

Russ Cochran, the oldest player in the field at 65, made his first PGA Tour star since 2013, teaming with Eric Cole for a 69 that left them tied for 73rd. Cochran’s son, Reed Cochran, is Cole’s caddie. Cole had a hole-in-one on No. 14.

On Friday, they will play alternative shot.

“Looking forward to getting out in foursomes tomorrow,” Lowry said. “It’s a format that’s tougher, but it is an enjoyable format.

McIlroy was noncommittal Thursday when asked if he and Lowry would attend the popular New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on Friday afternoon. The duo have an 8:53 a.m. tee time Friday.

“Who’s playing tomorrow night, do you know?” McIlroy asked his good friend.

“No, I’m not going out anywhere,” Lowry said with a laugh. “I’m staying out of trouble.”

Jazz Fest notwithstanding, McIlroy joked he hopes the pairing has a late tee time Saturday, meaning they will be close to the lead.
