On November 5, Travel Channel will premiere Dangerous Grounds , an eight-part series that follows Todd Carmichael , CEO and co-founder of the the Philadelphia-based coffee chain La Colombe Torrefaction , as he travels to " some of the most fascinating and unseen places in the world " in search of rare coffee beans. There are seven La Colombe locations across New York, Philly, Seoul, and Chicago.

According to a press release, Carmichael has to at various points in the series create makeshift zip lines, " dodge machine gun-toting adversaries ," and sleep under vehicles to avoid being killed. (Please to note that this series is not to be confused with Dangerous Ground , the 1997 thriller starring Ice Cube and Elizabeth Hurley.)

Each episode of Dangerous Grounds is an hour long and focuses on a different region of the world; destinations include Haiti , Bolivia , Madagascar , and Borneo . In the premiere episode, Carmichael goes to Haiti, where "after averting a brewing riot in the marketplace, he travels deep into the mountains where he navigates treacherous roads, dodges dangerous armed middlemen and finds an ancient bean hidden in the deepest area of the elevated terrain." Back in March, when the working title of the show was Coffee Hunter , Carmichael told Eater Philly : "[I]t gets pretty crazy... Coffee is grown by the poor, in the poorest places in the world, so re-opening these trade lines is always an adventure." The man is apparently no stranger to situations where one can end up dead: he set the world-record for the fastest unsupported trek to the South Pole in 2008. Here's the full press release:

In 2008, Carmichael — a real-life Indiana Jones — set the still-standing world-record for the fastest unsupported trek to the South Pole: thirty-nine days, seven hours and forty-nine minutes. In addition to being an avid adventurer, he is also a successful businessman. His premium coffee company, La Colombe Torrefaction, is based in Philadelphia and supplies top coffee roasts to the best restaurants and gourmet outlets in America. Since Carmichael focuses on the rarest coffee beans, his exclusive blends are sought after by many of the world's top chefs. Growing up on a farm in Washington, Carmichael can relate to the famers he buys from throughout the world. Because of this, he bypasses the distributor that typically takes advantage of the farmers, and pays a fair price directly to the source. Carmichael is also an active humanitarian. His expedition to the South Pole raised a great deal of money for Orangutan Foundation International and he worked with the Clinton Global Initiative to raise considerable funds and awareness toward a coffee university in Haiti. He also developed a coffee blend with Leonardo DiCaprio, Lyon, of which 100 percent of the profits go to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, funding wildlife protection, forest preservation, clean-water projects, disaster relief and climate-change research around the globe. In the one-hour premiere episode of Dangerous Grounds Carmichael travels to a poverty-stricken Haiti still devastated by the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. The country, despairing and dangerous, is home to what was once one of the most savored coffees in the world. After averting a brewing riot in the marketplace, Carmichael travels deep into the mountains where he navigates treacherous roads, dodges dangerous armed middlemen and finds an ancient bean hidden in the deepest area of the elevated terrain. It's about time that drinks got in on the reality food show craze: This November, Travel Channel will premiere a new series based on the world's most precious coffee beans.

Dangerous Grounds will follow CEO and co-founder of La Colombe Torrefaction, Todd Carmichael, as he travels to Haiti, Bolivia, Madagascar, and other countries, according to a press release . But don't think it's all peaceful cups of coffee: it's a dangerous mission to secure these valuable beans. The release advertises zip-lining on a "makeshift cable thousands of feet in the air" and "machine gun-toting adversaries." Say what? The reason for all this danger is that coffee is one of the most sought-after commodities, just after oil — and people will do anything to keep their hands on it. 

Carmichael, the Philadelphia roaster who is known for his exclusive roasts in his seven La Colombe locations, starts out in earthquake-stricken Haiti in the premiere on Nov. 5. In  an interview with Eater  in March, Carmichael said viewers will be surprised by the locations on the show. "Beans aren't grown at chateaus in wealthy areas. There aren't these beautiful vineyards full of beans growing all over, usually they're grown by farmers who also have yams, potatoes, and peas in the same rows of soil," he said. Let's just say things got a bit hairy for him: "Most of these countries are places were people still feel comfortable shooting at each other without a thought, so we're always a little on edge." he said. "...There's a lot of people and animals that did not want me to be where I was, that's all I can say." We're definintely tuning in.

Jordan's in Missouri, the "Show-Me" State, searching for toys exclusively from the 1980s. From rare Star Wars memorabilia and Pee-wee Herman play sets to Karate Kid games, Jordan scores big.

Jordan and his sidekick Steve head to Virginia on a quest for vintage toys and end up making a bet to see who can find the most valuable toy. Through their search, they find the Six Million Dollar Man Control Center, as well as the Fonz pinball machine.

Jordan is on the hunt for extremely expensive toys for Dave Hill, a popular comedian, who's ready to spend thousands. Elsewhere, Steve makes an impulsive and pricey purchase, a strange action figure that may not even sell.

Jordan and his amateur toy-dealing friend Travis are in Massachusetts digging for high-priced and highly popular items to sell at Chicago’s pop culture event, C2E2. Jordan is on the lookout for big-ticket items that will net him a $20,000 profit.
